The dirtiest Post Office, where the rugs are soiled & floors dont look clean. Glass doors look like they have not been cleaned. A staff person told me the carpets are not cleaned because they do not have the equipment. People crowd & dont wear masks. You feel like you are walking into a health hazard environment. Most workers are mean & entitled.
By far the worst experience Ive ever had at a post office in my life. First off, this place is poorly organized. They have several lines that have different functions. However there are no signs or employees that will tell you what each line is for. Each line is incredibly long, so be prepared to wait for 20 minutes at any given time there.Two the employees are brusque, rude, and incompetent. I wanted to pay with exact change in coins (just one stamp) and the woman working there told me that she couldnt take coins because she didnt have change. I told her that it was the exact amount ($0.55). She still said no. I tried to pay with my credit card and she said that my signature wasnt visible even though I had my DL with me to match the card. In the end, I had to pay with my debit card-- for less than a dollar. Lol. In another line, I heard another employee berate an elderly woman for not understanding English and that it was her fault for not knowing what each line was for. They make the DMV look like the staff of a swanky Midtown hotel by comparison.Also this place is incredibly dysfunctional. I just needed them to scan in a package (that I already boxed, labeled, paid for) for me, just to verify that the package was on its way to be sent. They told me that they didnt do that and that I had to drop the box off in the package drop. Two days have passed and the USPS tracking tool just says that there have been no updates.And to top it off, Ive moved to the area for about a month. I did a change of address before coming here, did the online confirmation and even verified with the last post office that handled my old address. They have not forwarded my mail from my last address and are still delivering mail for the old tenant in my apartment despite the new change of address label on the old tenants mail. Even more unbelievably, after I wrote return to sender, no longer at this address on the previous tenants mail, they redelivered those same pieces of mail to me.Ive always had strong support for the post office and nationalizing most utilities and services but I cant name one good thing about this branch. No wonder the service is ailing. If the USPS has more branches like this, it will be the end of any public support to save them.I would give this post office negative stars if I could.
Is there a way to give less than a star? LolI went yesterday (July 26th 2021) and there was only one window with a long long long line. The manager was explaining no one else came to work. I went at 10am today and she was the only one there and told me and other customers to go elsewhere because they were closed. NO ONE came to work. I need to pick up my package that they attempted to deliver but couldnt 🙄🤔. Just terrible.
This post office has such a low rating which is really unfair. the stuff that this staff has to deal with on a day to day basis, you would be as disaffected somedays as they are too. its so pious to talk badly about the staff who are consistently abused by the public. maybe not YOU being an abusive person but it happened to them or will happen to them on a consistent basis and you have to have some sympathy. Were all only human. You want to clap for essential workers and then talk badly about a post office that has not shut down during lockdown? Whats wrong with you? Also just have to applaud the supervisor (I forget her name) who is always direct, honest and will give you whats going on. Shes great and every time I have a problem (which has not been often in the many years Ive lived in the area), she ALWAYS comes through.
The incompetence at this Post Office is maddeningly high. Today they created two lines - one was for information assistance and purchasing, the other was for shipping services. I waited in the shipping services line - I had a pre-paid shipping label, and a box of mail in a Priority box to send to a neighbor who had a stroke. I needed to ship the box, and I needed a receipt for the pre-paid label. At the front of the services line I was told that the box was going to be $22, I tried to ask some questions about shipping options, I was interrupted, I was told that the answers were in the other line, and when I persisted the manager got involved and insisted that I was being rude, and that I had to wait in the other line. So I waited in the other line. At the front of that line I realized that the information windo did not have a scale and therefore couldnt answer my question about the cheapest shipping options. I was also told that in order to receive a receipt for my pre-paid package I needed to go to the Self Service station, and that station could also tell me my shipping options. I went to the self service station and it didnt recognize the zip on my pre-paid label, nor did it have a media rate option, and therefore could not provide me with my shipping rate options. So, I returned to the first line. At the front of that line for the second time the employee (a different one) refused to help me because I didnt say hello to her. She kept telling me to go to different lines, and I kept insisting that I had done so already (which she had watched). When I wouldnt step aside she left the window. At this point a line had formed and I was being yelled at because I was causing the line to grow. I basically just waited it out. I wouldnt move. Eventually, the manager came out - refused to help me until I apologized - then finally relented and sent me to a third employee at the windows for the first line. I left in tears. It should not be that intense or frustrating to send mail EVER. No one should be treated like that. Incompetence and power mongers at their best. Unbelievable. People were filming me, and others. I truly hope those videos get posted.
I literally lost count of the amount of packages this post office has marked as delivered that were lostDont even bother filing a lost package claim, it will just be ignored package was marked as delivered, theres nothing we can do is the default responseThis post office is a joke on its best dayUpdate:Two packages marked as out for delivery for 3 daysThe post office is half a block from my building!Utterly ridiculous
The worst. Other post offices are not like this one. Other post offices are helpful and help me find solutions to get my packages shipped. It’s always something with this post office. They take advantage of the neighborhood and make people at the highest shipping options. They ONLY provide Flat Rate or Regional Flat Rate boxes for free. If you don’t have your own box, they make you pay more than you have to or send you out of luck. It’s not right. This location is the worst!
I understand the service here is sub par but the shipping rates is why I come here, if you avoid peak hours 12-1pm 3:30pm-4:40pm you can avoid long lines. I’d say about half the staff are friendly and decent. They get the job done regardless what any other reviewers write about the placeUpdate:Looks like the new times to avoid is 2:45pm and later, you might be good after 4:30pm they close at 5pm weekdays
I had to send a number of boxes through this office using unusual codes, in one instance, for the first time, and I was not used to some of the procedures. My boxes crossed the country in two days. The staff as well as the easy to use self-ship kiosk did a great job for me. Thank you all. This office is located in a busy area and manages a steady flow of traffic throughout the day. I dont want to discount peoples criticism, but I wanted to show my appreciation for the efficient and accommodating staff. I was in and out of there three times in the span of a few days, and they were ready for me each time with expertise and friendliness. They kept the lines moving and were patient and helpful when the current COVID protocols made things slightly more difficult than usual.
They consistently loose or steal packages. They are unhelpful and disorganized. If it is all possible avoid any interaction or business with this branch. It should be shut down or the management should be replaced.I have done business with many post offices throughout the city this one is an exception and should be closed.I have had 2 packages “disappear” and one that showed up after a three month delay.Other people in this zip code have had the same problem. USPS should investigate this facility.
This is the worst post office I have encountered in the entire country! The manager and the staff are incompetent. They hardly ever deliver packages to anyone in the neighborhood and then everyone comes to pick them up. They usually have only one person staffing the pickup window with 40-50 people in line, while they have 3 or more windows open for sending packages even if they have no one in line. This didn’t happen one time. It’s consistent over the last 3 years I have lived in this neighborhood. I usually wait there for 1-2 hours just to pick up a package.
Stuff is rude, unprofessional and not helpful. Supervisor was extremely rude and refused to help me when I told she cannot speak to me in this tone. She refused to tell me her name. I think its not acceptable for the company of that level. USPS should be ashamed of the quality of their service and people they employ to represent their company.
Ive been with this post office - both in the new location and the prior one - for decades now. Ive had mixed experiences, ranging from wonderful to very bad. I can understand all the complaints, because there are big problems in this newer location.First, they need better customer relations and better accountability. The supervisors that they send out to the floor on occasion, are not always terribly friendly. Also, the service at the pickup window is inconsistent. Some people do their jobs well and are conscientious, while others do not / are not. I get a lot of packages, and unfortunately they frequently either go missing or get labeled with someone elses box number, or I dont get a notification that theyve arrived. Or they end up at 191st Street. More than a few times I have had to call the main number to put a trace on a missing package. It seems that right after I do that, the package miraculously appears the very next day! To me that indicates disorganization and lack of conscientiousness more than anything else.As for the accusations of the staff being rude, that used to be a big problem, but truthfully its not so much any more. Often they are just cynical after years of dealing with difficult customers. I have seen many customers be incredibly rude and abusive to the staff, even to the point of threatening violence. I dont think its any accident that the staff sits behind bulletproof glass. Customers need to behave themselves too, and they dont always. Im not saying it is o.k. for staff to be rude to customers, because its not. But I sort of understand the predicament from both sides.Theres more I could say but Ill leave it here for now. I just hope for better things from this post office, because the service they provide is very needed, so it has to work somehow.
This branch should BE CLOSED. The management and workers can not keep up with the demand of customers. I have had too many unbelievably incompetent experiences here. Again, this branch should BE SHUT DOWN. It does not provide the function that it should in a manner that takes care of its customers.I waited in line for over an hour to pick up a package. And then I had to leave before I was even close to the pick up window.I may be wrong, but the USPS is supposed to DELIVER mail. Not hold it ransom for our time. Not everyone can wait in line for two hours on a Saturday in order to pick up a package.The other issue was that the line for mailing packages was very short and had FOUR windows with cashiers devoted to it. When I spoke to the manager and pointed out that this was ill-planned she told me that she had to keep those windows open to take money because that money makes the post office run. I understand that BUT you dont need four windows for a line that is 2-3 people long when there is another line 50 plus people deep. Makes no sense.Please close this branch!
Generally deliver your packages late, or not at all. Therealways a long line to pick up packages, which I suspect is because of the not delivering stuff. Its especially annoying when they close at 5, because you know most of us dont work, so either wait for the weekend or never get your mail. The best part? Maybe youll be lucky to meet someone pleasant, but most of the workers there are just plain RUDE right off the bat. I get it, long day, but thats no excuse to have a nasty attitude.
This post office needs to close down or change the whole staff or person in charges of delivering package. I can’t understand how EVERYTIME! No notification of delivery attempts is left of the main door or Inside the mail box , especially for governmental paperwork’s! I need some answers or some actions , because this is out of understanding. Do we need to suit the post office for incompetence? Meanwhile I constantly see the guy who delivers mail in my building who amazingly do his job. But the person in charge in the morning that’s another level? I don’t know how lazy can you be to don’t put a note requesting to come pick up important mail at the post office ? Is there a new policy ? I need answer please.
I read multiple reviews here from this Postal Office... I have NEVER experienced any of what I’ve read. On the contrary, yes the lines sometimes are long, but since they moved there the wait time isn’t long. Also, the customer service I’ve received has been amazing! I think that because some people just don’t show courtesy, THAT may be the reason why they’re complaining. Point blank, dont go by the “Bad Reviews” here, focus on the good ones. Remember that when you give RESPECT & COURTESY, you will get the same back! No matter where you go you’re ALWAYS gonna find long lines, etc...
Horrible Customer Service.I came to apply for a passport in the identified walk-in hours. I stayed in a long line for one window to receive a number, while 4 other windows had no customers and representatives were just chatting. After I reached my turn, the person in window said they cant serve me that day. I asked for the manager, he went for the manager, which did not even show up to explain the reason of refusal to accept my application. I sacrificed my lunch time, and was very disappointed to deal with such horrible unprofessional post employees. There was no note or explanation why they did not accept passport applications that specific day.
Yesterday went in to do my passport, was told to come in 10-2. Come in today around 11-12 was told they were not doing passports anymore and that they stopped at 12pm. Plus the lady was rude while telling us. Please do not tell your customers one thing then it comes out to being another. If there are not enough employees to attend the customers then hire more. Never again will I go to this post office. And I will let everyone I know NOT to go to that post office either.
They gave my package to somebody else right in front of my face and they called it a mistake.They had the nerve to disrespect me eve more after that when I said how could you do that ? That’s very unprofessional.The lady responded : I don’t got time for this call the 1-800 number.The person who gave my package to a random person is the supervisor but I forgot her name, she wears glasses and is a little slow.I was so infuriated because this package took 35 days to arrive from Eastern Asia and the item inside was worth $1400The lady who they gave it to by mistake never returned and she kept my item.
Est. delivery date? Tuesday. Package out for delivery? Saturday, three days early. The place is closed Saturday, so they hold it. Go there on Monday, spend my whole lunch break standing in line and oh, we arent done processing all of them, come back later. Will it be delivered on Tuesday as it was supposed to? No, youd have to call again and schedule a re-delivery. Now, some issues at this post office and 10040 are the fault of USPS. The others are the faults of the awful workers who care very little if you actually get your package. Mostly, it is the organizations fault for having poor systems all around doubly the fault of those working there for having poor attitudes and not choosing to rise above the terrible systems put into place. I cringe whenever I order something in this neighborhood and it is shipped through USPS. I know I may not get it and likely wont get it on time.
The worst USPS in New York. Rude employees and they are not helpful whatsoever. I don’t know how this place is still open. Went with my grandmother to get a new passport. The employee told me they do not have a passport agent. Meanwhile, their location is on the USPS website to schedule passport appointments. The employee said that USPS website has to remove their location of their website, however there is a poster right outside saying to enter to apply for passports. 🤔 My grandmother waited 1 month and a half for this appt.
Takes about an hour or more on line even if theres only one or two people in front of you. When youre finally in the front they act with a bored and somewhat standoffish attitude.Carriers from here give notification slips with the date from days prior to act they did their job before they actually did and as if I waited two or more days just leaving my package at this location.Above was from Feb 2017Now they dont deliver packages but the tracking info says they did. Wheres my package?Waiting on the phone 42+minutes for them to tell me theyll find out where it went in 1-3 days. 7 hours when it was delivered my neighbor hands it to me. Something they keep doing and need to stop. The letters B and D are different. So are 09 and 11.
This is the worst post office. If I could I would give it zero stars. I have nothing but problems with this place. They constantly lose packages. Or they “attempt” delivery but never leave any notification and just return it to the shipper. Unfortunately it’s not like anyone will face any repercussions. I hate this place.
Today was the second time I was at this branch, minding my own business waiting for my husband to mail some packages. The rude manager again yelled and interjected herself where its not her place. Please people report them directly to USPS instead of just yelping. I just did this. This has to stop. You cant treat people with so much disrespect and get away with it
They refuse to deliver packages of anything unless its expensive stuff, then they leave it at the front door of the apartment complex, not even buzzing the apartment number. So, of course, it gets stolen.They have lost thousands of dollars of equipment but if I get a $10 book delivered, they keep it and lock it up like fort knox and require tons of proof of ID and a printed delivery code for you to get it. Also you better KNOW that they attempted delivery because they wont leave a notice.Good luck.
The actual worse. Called asking if someone could pick up a package for me and they said I only need to send picture of my ID. So when they arrive she was told that they dont do that. Incompetent is not a strong enough word to describe how useless usps is. Use ups or fed ex if possible.
For some reason post office locations in black and brown communities are the worst in terms of customer service. And this location is no exception, it maybe the worst Ive ever been to. They never have enough workers or windows to support the long lines, window workers move slow, their delivery men never deliver things on the date they are scheduled to, they loose packages often, and getting a re-delivery is a joke. You easily spend 45 mins here waiting for basic things like package pickup. Dont try and call to see where your package is, hour and 15 mins minimum wait on the line before talking to someone. When people talk about USPS going out of business or being privatized a horrible place like this makes me agree. Do better USPS much better your customer service on every level is horrific. I am legit scared to get packages delivered to my own home.
This is by far the worst post office Ive ever seen in NYC, or anywhere. No matter what day/time you go, you will wait in very long lines - Ive had to wait for 45 minutes before just to mail a package, and usually not less than 20 minutes! There can be a line of 25+ people waiting and only 1 or 2 tellers. Obviously this location is terribly understaffed and probably poorly managed. One of the big problems with this post office is that a large number of customers are there for money orders or passports, which take a long time, so if you need to simply mail a package (it is a post office, right???), you just have to wait. They seriously need separate lines/tellers for non-mail transactions. There also just needs to be another post office somewhere in Washington Heights to help with some of this volume. Sadly, this location is the only choice. I often actually get on the subway and go to another post office downtown so I dont have to deal with the terrible experience at the 181 st location. I will say though that the tellers are generally pleasant and theyre doing the best they can.
Be prepared to wait in line for a long, long time. Your mail and packages wont get delivered all the time, especially big packages. There is only one line for mail pickups and they take their sweet time.However, when I finally GOT to the front, the employee was very helpful and made exceptions for me to get my packages.Be patient.
They never deliver! I work from home! I KNOW they never deliver! They just dont deliver if they dont feel like it. Multiple Amazon packages missing. Lines for hours. Rude workers. They search and search for every single package because everything in back is a mess. Your ID address better match the package or you wont get it... if you just moved - you are screwed until you update your ID address.
This is the worst postal office uptown. The manager is rude, the employees are rude. Its like they hate people, dont want to work. They should of closed this place a long time ago. The people who work there are incompetent!!! Dont know how to behave or even have a decisive ide of what costumer service is!!. They should be fired including the manager who is the worst. She lets them do whatever they want. I hope they all become unemployed.
Every time i receive something from Amazon I get the next day immediately from them with only a 10-15 minute wait. And Im used to it for a reason theyre the only post office in my neighborhood that doesnt break or misplace any items. Ive had no issues with them since theyve opened there. I still put my full trust in them with all my items Ive ordered and being able to pick them up.
The claiming attempted delivery has to stop. Corruption and bad management pure and simple. Who is in charge of oversight? I heard another customer ahead in line make the same complaint. No delivery is attempted, so there is NO slip to tell you where to pick up your package. The rude woman at the counter told me they were understaffed and she was probably not going to be able to fine my package because it was not processed yet. Alleged delivery attempt was two days ago. Worst post office I have ever had to use.
I was trying to mail some letters and the box was jammed. I alerted the clerk and she cut me off before explaining the situation. She then told me I had to get in line to explain to her about the problem with their mail drop off. I asked to speak to a supervisor and she rudely cut me off again and told me that I already told her of the the drop offs problem and waved at me to go the F away. What unproffesional work ethic. These were my bills that I was mailing. I just wanted to make sure they would get to the right place. Im sure there is a possibility that they wont. I will NEVER again visit this location and the lady needs to be retrained on how to provide customer service.
For anyone trying to go to this postal office this place is closed as an 4/27/2020. These people decided not to go to work and the manager has no one working. Dont waste your time here. They dont want to work. More than 60 people were making a line outside waiting for more than an hour when the manager comes out just to say that she has no one working. Instead of putting a paper outside or saying something the moment people were making the line
Wow. The reviews for this place are brutal. I can only speak of my experience with this P.O. This being my local PO for the last 30 yrs or so. For the most part i do get my packages delivered to my front door. The usual delivery guy is a nice guy who usually comes around 8 am. But i suspect i get my packages delivered regularly only because my Apt. is on the first floor, right next to the Bldg. entrance. From time to time i do have to make it to the post office to pick up if i miss the delivery or if i have to send something out to someone. The people behind the windows are generally competent, those handling outgoing mail and shipments that is. The exception to this would be the ladies in charge of retrieving the packages. They dont seem to have a clue as to where your package is and often ask you to come back later. And because of that reason im giving this PO only 3 stars. I can fully understand everyone elses frustrations with this place.
If I can give it negative stars I would! Such terrible service!!! I had a Package sent to my house and then it said no able to delivered I went to the post office they said they didnt have it to go to the another post office that it would be there. It wasnt I had to come back to this bad customer service office. After 30 minutes of looking for the package and 3 employees later they found it. Then the attendant gave me attitude and even argued with me about something that I know way to well the rules. Sooo rude and unprofessional if you dont want to work there THEN DONT WORK THERE. The employees there are the worse. This is were our tax dollars goes to? Smh
If it was possible to give this post office a 0 stars i would have chosen it. THEY DO NOT DELIVER YOUR MAIL!!!!! HOW IS THAT EVEN POSSIBLE!?. I wait the whole day sometimes for a light package and i would just get an attempt was made to deliver REALLY!? it would be better if it just said our courier doesnt feel like going into your building and handing you your package. If you dont get your package and decide you wanna pick it up GOOD LUCK! Youre either gonna have to wait 2 hours on the 1 window pick up line or they wont even have your package. There are no alternatives this is what we are stuck with.
Horrible Delivery Personnel , they just stick a note attempted delivery , without carrying the package from the truck to its destination!!!This makes the case even worse , wen you consider , dealing with Lazy Post Office Personnel . For one single package ( big and easy to be found ), had to go 6 days straight , 2 times a day ( that means, spent 12 hours in line) and those 6 days I could take Vacation insted of losing my paydays.
This is the most dysfunction organization I have ever encountered. I came here with my 4 year old daughter to get a passport. I was the first there. It still took hours. The women who issues passports took a break at the very beginning of her hours. It is incredibly aggravating to drag a four year old girl to get something done and have to wait for hours for no good reason. There was no one in front of us and no sufficient reason to have to wait so long. I have been here many times and never had a positive experience nor has anyone else I know.
Ive seriously never met dumber or ruder employees at any place. If youre not waiting forever for service then you have to deal with their attitude. I just came back from picking up a package and they gave me the wrong package. Unfortunately I didnt notice until I got home. Now I have to wait until Monday to get my package. If I could give them 0 stars I would.
If I could give zero stars I will. There is no type of customer assistance provided in this location . I was on the phone line for 56 minutes exact placed on hold three times by two different people. While being on hold I decide to just go to the location and mail my item. When I tell the Surpervisor they need to better there service she gets pissed. Its true what type of customer assistance do you guys provide. If you guys are busy and cant help the customer let the client know and they can call the customer assistance line directly. After being on hold for 56 minutes and actually coming down to the location Rude employees decided to not provide there services and mail out my item. If you dont know how to do a customer service job please find yourself a better job that does not contribute to dealing with humans. More like a Zoo or a Morgue.
Consistently the Worst customer service ever. This time... I went there to pick up 2 packages. Woman at package pick up only brought back 1 package. My pick up ticket clearly stated 2 packages and the tracking info showed the packages being held at the post office. I tried to show her the tracking info on my phone and she responded rudely and refused to go back and check and told me it wasn’t her problem it must be a mistake.
This location gets my vote for the ABSOLUTE WORST PO in NYC!!! I waited all day on a Sunday for a package to be delivered and then I got a text indicating that a delivery attempt was made (LIE) and a notice left (LIE). Went to the PO on Monday and was told packages for Sunday had not been taken off the truck yet (?) Went back on Tuesday and was told that the package could not be found and everything is a mess in the back...are you kidding me?!!! The clerk gave me two numbers to call back later and inquire about my package and wouldnt you know... both lines were busy all day. WHERE IS THE ACCOUNTABILITY for these lazy, unorganized and ill-informed Neanderthals disquised as postal workers?!!!
I waited for an hour and got late at work jst to send my dad his phone. First she doesnt know how to talk to guest so with a smile on my face i told her to talk to me calm so we can work this out and make it easy for both. But she end up declining my service request by saying the phone has a battery and could not be sent!! Btw the phone been sent from another USPS but because i wanted it to be fast, i canceled it to make it express shipping and unfortunately this time, i did it at a place full with bad energy: 181st
I would say 99.99999 percent of the people there are horrible. Would lie to your face and tell you your package is not there because they feel they do not want to properly look for your stuff. Horrible customer service. Horrible attitudes always!! Who does this fall back on? The Supervisor? The supervisors boss?? Someone has to wake up, we deserve better!! And Oh how about hire someone that is Bilingual????
Worst place to get anything post related done ,it should be remained united stated postal scams because they can scam you out of your time as well as even pacages from they’re own people. Being done By USPS “Postal Service”Unbelievably I have waited for a package for over a month for them not leave the pacage anywhere and I have the camera to prove such a thing . They never left the pacage at all , mind you these are precious items that take time to book locate and execute to buy , and here goes not only people stealing In our buildings we have thieves in that postal service . And we have them employed with no penalty given to the people in charge or responsible for this duty .
I feel extremely insulted. Despite this post office being located in a mostly latino community, most of the workers are racist and often discriminating against the many customers who do not speak the language. There was a lady who came in asking for help with something in regarding to her passport and the worker there said This is America and everyone is supposed to know the English language. This got me very upset because what type of customer service is this when you dont help the customers and why even get a job that involves communication with people if you cant even communicate with respect. This is the worst post office I have ever been to in my life! Such disrespectful and unprofessional staff!
This post office does everything in its power to not deliver the mail. Amazing, considering that this is 90% of their job.Apparently looking at the building is enough to say they attempted to deliver a reasonably-sized package with no signature requirement.Some of my letter mail from the Midwest has come on a two or three week delay.And thats not even describing the hellscape that is the building and its employees.
I went there just to pick up a package, the worker told me to get on the line since the pickup window was closed. I had to wait in line for 30 minutes just picking up a package. They have not enough workers, and they are not organized. I went there like 11am on Tuesday... why the pickup window closed at that time? The slowest, most unprofessional post office I have ever had the displeasure of having to go to. They have never once actually delivered a package to me but drop off the sorry we missed you tags in the box even though my wife works from home and is there. Theres a reason why everyone tries to go through ups and FedEx nowadays.
This by far is the worst customer service experience of all time. I am veteran that served as a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps. I needed to send a very important package. The supervisor Ms. Rosario was extremely rude, ghetto and demanding my wife and I to leave the post office. “She said, that the employees had to leave; this was 20 minutes before closing. My wife asked her politely if she could make an exception because we are military personal and she quickly responded sarcastically, “Are you going to pay all these employees?” This so called supervisor showed no respect towards us and the young Marine who sacrificed his life for our freedom. She doesn’t deserve to work in this community; she needs to get fired for her lack of communication skills.
Look at those reviews, 1.3 stars, hey look, some recommendation to you is if you want to go to this post office than dont go to this post office, the rudest low lives that makes them feel good when you treat you like dirt. Who the heck are those employees??? Yea exactly, Nobodies, buncha zero losers who think they are geniuses, their personalities on a scale of 1-10 is a Negative 100. -5 Stars for this post office! AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!!!!! EVERYTIME I come to this specific location, there is always some kind of problem! They will find the smallest things to pick on and say thats the policy. RUDE...BAD ATTITUDE... RACIST... MOST SHOULD BE FIRED!... Today I have waited in line for 40 mins with my 15 month old son who was getting very desperate (along with the rest of the huge line.) Once it was my turn, the clerk thats always in the first window told me he cant ship out one of my packages because according to him the envelope I used (flat rate priority mail) was supposed to be used only for documents. I explained that I have used that same envelope in numerous other locations with no problem! He continued with thats the policy (which is bullshyt!!!!) Then I told him to just set that package aside and ship out the rest of my items. What does he do???.... he hands me back my packages and tells me to go back on line and wait for another clerk! I said no... please send the other packages for me... HE WALKS AWAY! And when I ask him his name (because I didnt see a name tag) he refused to provide me with it and he refused me service! How is that even allowed!!??? I have waited for so long with my baby to be refused service at a post office!??? He should be fired! and the other clerks as well because I see and hear how they speak with other people... especially those who dont speak English well! IT IS DISGUSTING!!! THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!!! I will be going a complaint with the USPS and I will be following up to see if anything is done. That kind of customer service cannot be allowed and they cant get away with that!
This is the worst post office in the whole wide world!!! The staff is rude and down right disgusting! This post office should be shut down immediately! June 15, 2019Around 11:30-12:15pmSaturdayToday I went in to get an authorized signature for my new passport. Ms. Hines took a look at my paper work and started yelling at me and calling me an idiot for filling out the form incorrectly.I said I can fix the mistakes no problem but she continued to berate me very harshly and was incredibly rude. Her customer service was horrible and when I fixed the mistake she refused to give me back my paper work back so I could ship it through my third party passport agency who expedited passports 3X faster than the post office.When she refused to return my paper work I called my agent and he gave me the Post office handbook which says in the Passport Acceptance Manager and Agents hand book in chapter 10 section 11 if going through a 3rd party passport agency and if traveling in an immediate time a manager or agent of the Post Office can not by law hold your paper work if you request it back after the signature. Ms. Hines started yelling at me when I respectfully asked for it back. She called me a liar, a scam and told me to get out. She threatened to tear up my passport paper work and not give it back to me. I requested to speak with a manager or supervisor but she refused. I maintained my cool but was nervous since she was yelling at me harshly and I was trying to be polite since i didn’t want to cause a seen. I asked to speak with some one else who has more authority than her but she said no and again went to tear up my paper work but then I stated if you tear up my legal documents I have you on camera doing so and you’ll be reported. She set them down and I asked again to speak with a supervisor. Finally, another employee walked up and asked what the trouble was and she brought me to the supervisor who was Denise. Denise was very kind, helpful and respectful. She helped me with my papers and gave them back to me so i could ship them through my third party agency.Ms. Hines should be fired for her behavior. Yelling at customers is totally disrespectful. Also refusing to return my legal documents including birth certificate and passport papers is breaking the law according Passport Acceptance for Managers and Agents code of Chapter 10 section 11.I will be reporting Ms. Hines to the best of my ability.She needs help or she needs to go. Washington Heights deserves better customer service to our community and people. We don’t need people like her holding the signature for our legal documents.We need more post office agents, higher quality service and respect to the people and for the people.Avoid Ms. Hines as much as you can. She is very difficult to work with, she can be extremely unkind, hateful and vengeful. I hope she gets some love and support that she needs because people that act the way she did are hurting on the inside. But it shouldn’t be tolerated in our Post Offices and especially she shouldn’t hold the authority for Passport signatures when she’s breaking the law.Denise is great! Helpful, honest, kind, and follows the law. We need more like her at this post office and more like the young lady who took me to Denise.Ms. Hines needs to go or be trained better on how to be a decent customer service postal worker.
SOMEONE SHOULD DO SOMETHING ABOUT THE POOR SERVICE HERE. PEOPLE WORKING AT THIS LOCATION DO NOT WANT THEIR JOB!!!!My pregnant wife just walked 10 blocks to send a very small package. She was also carrying my six-month old child. She walked there and waited 30 minutes in line... To be told that they wouldnt help her because she didnt have her ID.That location needs to shut down. Please dont go there unless you want to witness incompetence at its finest.
They dont even deserve a whole star. just deliver mail. leave packages to UPS, FedEx, or DHL. what us postal service do is, when they cant make your delivery date on time. they scan your package and put that nobody was available for pick up and no secure location to leave package. but they never reached your destination so there wont be a note for missed delivery. therefore your package will still be on that truck until they eventually get to delivering your package and it wont be at the postal office for pick up.

Mixed bag. You never know what youll get here. I went to have a passport photo taken. Was first told that the person taking the photos was out. I asked the clerk who gave me this information if he could simply take it, but was told that it wasnt his responsibility. Then saw another clerk take a a passport photo for a customer. When I asked about this, the clerk who told me it wasnt his responsibility had the nerve to invite me to use the UPS service on the next block to have the passport photo taken (!!!)
There should be a zero star option. Many employees talk rudely to the customers. I asked a lady for a favor to ask about a passport renewal application the man said if she is not with you she has to get in line. The lady tried to explain that i just had 1 question. He said theres an inquiry window to get in the line. A line that was long, barely moving, all i needed was to pick up the application. He could have heard my question amd directed me then 9r have been so kind and grab the app. Very dismissive and power tripped if you ask me. He also gave the lady attitude for writing something down in the wrong place.
This post office is so bad at deliveries. I rescheduled a delivery on Feb 14 for Feb 18 and the package was never delivered. This isnt the first time it happens. Two years ago they lost a package and I still cant get a refund for it bc according to the merchant usps delivered a package I still have not received! Nyc needs to upgrade their mail system and retrain their employees on customer service skills!
The manager of this branch should be replaced. Packages from here are never delivered. They give the slip to pick up the smallest packages at the post office where they are either lost or have been opened and resealed. Mail is opened and gift cards removed. This place is to be avoided at all costs. 9th circle of hell.
Its true...this post office is pretty terrible. Ive moved around a lot in the past 17 years and lived here and in Chicago. All too frequently they lose my packages (happened about once every 6-8 weeks past year) and they never even buzz your door when attempting delivery (Im home all day esp. on those days). Then when you go pick it up at the post office its usually 15-30 mins wait every time because apparently everyone else gets the same treatment.
This is a shame and the most horrendous office I have visited. I placed a letter with a check in the mailbox outside the office on a Sunday at about 2:00pm and the check was stolen and CASHED Monday morning. When I tried to file a complaint I was given the run around. SHAME, SHAME!!! that we have to tolerate employees who are rude and treat you like garbage. I would say...CLOSE THIS OFFICE IMMEDIATELY!! Something is going on and no one wants to investigate.
Worst post office ever, if you dont like your job, leave it!! When it comes to delivering a parcel to your apartment it will never get delivered, they automatically send you the pick up notice. Its suppose to close at 5pm but ive been there at 430pm and its already closed.
They have the most ridiculous staff running the show. Lines out the door, opening late, and the most unprofessional attitudes ever.I have been waiting almost 3 weeks for a package they say the delivered but it not to be found and the tracking information hasnt been updated since I rescheduled the delivery for a following Monday. Unacceptable, you guys suck.
Staff is nice enough but the lines are always very long, both for the counters and the package pickup. And often not all the counters are staffed despite this store being so busy. Just go to Staples instead for mailing things, they can even do certified mail and the like. God help you if you need to pick up a package.
The supervisor at this location is aggressive and vicious and she yelled ar me in front if my child. A good stranger (who happened to be a social worker) recorded the whole thing. The supervisor bosses people around like we are second grade citizens. Horrible experience and she definitely doesnt deserve to do this job
This is the worst possible experience with a post office. Notification slips are not left on most occasions for missed packages and when they are left, this post office is more than likely to tell you that the item(s) cannot be located. This has happened on a number of occasions. Definitely avoid at all costs.
Constantly waiting and the guy on the far. Left who weighs 600 pounds kills me with his. Mouth and lazyness. Also they should have someone allocated by the lines to. Scan and take. Packages. That just need. To. Be handed in because the kiosk. Machine is. Working half the time and the large pull down mail box wont receive all packages. Its crazy how much stress I get. From. Parcels are handled by contract company that regularly lose or steal packages. This post office cannot tell you who sent packages or where they are because they go to the deliver company directly. Leaves notices when I am home and never rings my doorbell. Signature confirmation does not ensure delivery, only certified mail does.Recommendation: NEVER receive parcels through USPS is you live here. They will be be lost/stolen.
This is not a competent logistical operation. Customer service is terrible, management is spread thin, and no one moves with a sense of urgency.Couriers carrying parcel delivery do not even attempt to deliver shipments, leaving recipients forced to come to the post office to wait in hour long lines.I work for a top express delivery firm and I can tell the workers behind the counter are overwhelmed and cannot perform their duties in a timely manner.

This is the absolute worst post office possibly on the planet due to abysmal attitudes of lazy workers. The lines are an hour long, the workers are rude (when they choose to work), and the management is even worse -- I wish I could give them negative stars! Ive filed many complaints with the Postmaster General to no avail. I sincerely hope they shut this location down or replace the staff with people that actually want a job.
I wish I could give 0 stars. RUDE beyond belief!!! I have yet to encounter any post office member who wasnt condescending. Something as simple as a question is given the run around and they lack common decency. Im sure they are overworked but the people here make lines for hours sometimes like to be treated so rudely.
Lousy Postal Services, since Tuesday December 27 Ive been going to this branch to cash a M.O. In vain cause the clerks keeps telling me the system is down to come back the next day today is Thursday December 29 I just called them hoping that finally I can resolve my transaction and I was told they dont know if the system is working. The only thing not working at the Post Off in 181st Audubon Ave, is their lack of respect to the customers. Lousy, Rude and Sloppy. Shame on you USPS.
Im convinced that the staff here are part of a work-release program. They probably dont get paid..which would explain their ghetto-ignorant-rude-attitude. Lets face it..the postal service institution will be a thing of the past for this location..hopefully sooner than later.Do yourself a favor and go with UPS, Federal Express or DHL for deliveries. Closest thing to Hell on Earth. Obviously Somebody sht in the employees cereal (daily) Zero work space to prepare letters except for huge counter that goes along with the long line. Which means totally unpractical placement. The employees are all rude EXCEPT for the nice man always at the first window on the left. All women who work there are horrible and have sht attitudes. The place is always disgusting with trash all over the lobby. The bell for real assistance is broken of course. The automated machine will often charge you and not release your stamps. The worst customer service. A lot of discrimination with the people who do not speak english. How it is possible that they don’t have spanish speaker employees in Washington heights. the only guy who speak spanish is very nasty and he doesn’t like to help the customers when they need some one who speaks spanish. Giving it one star because zero stars is not an option. This place has the rudest employees, packages are constantly lost and no one is held accountable for careless errors or negative attitudes. Employees lie and refuse to give their names so that proper complaints can not be made to management.

Therefore, ostensibly, the USPS runs on a deficit.Also, please keep in mind that we Iive in a capitalist political-economy. This office is simply inadequate for the number of people who need it. The hours need to be extended t accommodate people with jobs. Although (not indicated) you can pick up packages earlier than these posted hours... I believe that is 8 on weekdays. Ill snap a shot of the sign next time...
According to USPS tracking, this place attempted to deliver a package to me at 11 PM on Labor Day. Besides it being a national holiday, I have the security guards logs to add additional proof they were never here. Now, after rescheduling delivery twice, I still dont have the package a week later.

Went there to renew my kids passport.. mind you i know they start at 10am.. asked one of the employees if they were doing passport saturday he said go ask the other guy and see if he feels like doing it i was shocked so i went and ask the other guy and he straight up told me no not today lol wow 08/31/19 online states 10am to 12pm. I have no idea how this place hasnt been seized and shut down by the government yet. They lose your mail, deliberately leave their phone off the hook all day, and Ive personally seen them verbally abuse blind and other disabled patrons. Unreal. Apparently theyre unaware that mail theft is a federal offense.
Horrible costumer service, It’s sad that this people act like that. Miserable people that don’t like their job, will pray for them since I’m a child of Christ, but as a costumer they should change the management and start over, this is a service and they are horrible at it. Horrible and nasty attitude, extremely unprofessional the worse.
Considering that my mail carrier will never actually deliver my package, only leave a slip to go pick it up, I have to go to the post office often. There is ALWAYS a line that almost reaches the door. Once I waited 20 minutes in line to only wait another 45 minutes for them to find my package while serving customer after customer who was behind me. Highly disorganized and rude.

Horrible if it wasnt because this is the one that I have to go to when I have to pick up packages I wouldnt I went today 5-23-17 I got there at 9am and the young Spanish girl was on her personal phone I said good morning she too her phone and put it in her boob and kept her conversation going. Try to avoid coming here at all costs. Long lines, unorganized space, and absolutely horrible customer service. You will leave here frustrated and stressed, even after the rare experience that you actually leave having accomplished what you hoped to. Pray that you never have to pick up a package from this post office.
The people that work here are beyond rude. They are straight up condescending and obtuse. Took over 3 days to deliver Express Mail and when I quoted them USPS policy from the USPS website, they implied I was a liar. This place is the trash bin of government employees.

Be prepared to wait in line for 2 hours minimum to ship out your package, I dont know where all these people come from you would think this is the only post office in NYC, 90% of these people are buying money orders because they dont know how to pay their bills using their credit/debit cards. Horrible!
Quite possible the worst service I have ever encountered. I asked for a priority mail box and they got angry and told me they had to pay for them. If I wanted a box I should order one online and then come back in a couple days to mail it. Wound up just going to ups store. Thanks guys.

2022-07-02This post office is Horrible. It’s located in one of the most busy place of Washington Heights, 181 street. There’s always only 1 or 2 clerk, they always rude specially to those that don’t know English. There’s always a lot of elderly people there that every time I go I help them because the clerk never know Spanish (which in these areas 80% of people are Hispanic). THEY HAVE NEVER TAKE ANY ACTION TO IMPROVE THERE SERVICE IN THIS LOCATION TO SERVE BETTER THE COMMUNITY !! This picture it’s taken at 12pm on a Saturday I have 45 minutes already in the line. The two post women here were knowledgable, helped me and patiently waited until I was done filling out envelopes, addresses and the such. I used to have a really bad notion of this post office for their service in the past but this day, they made up for it.

2022-03-12As part of this community, we fought so that this location would have stayed open and people will keep their jobs. Instead, they are behaving like rude mean people. The people working at this location discriminates the community knowing that they have employees who speak Spanish but refused to speak to others in Spanish as well. talk to people in bad mood, disrespectful, rude mean, telling us we cant talk in Spanish because they dont understand when I know you have a Mexican guyfor many years working there and a puerto rican manager who is pure rude and nasty. 2021-07-20The government needs to do a better job with supporting the USPS. Forms are rarely available at the stations for customers and the lobby is a mess. The wait time currently is about 45 minutes, and this is during the time when Google indicates is “Usually a little busy”. There is currently only ONE clerk working at the window servicing customers with outgoing shipments, and only one other at the package pickup window. With a full lobby of customers both clerks left, a half hour after opening, for a coffee break. By midday, the line stretches outside. It’s ridiculous.

I’m very disappointed that even though there is so much bad reviews this place has not changed a bit. I prefer my packages being send back to the sender than having to deal with this people. Came in today there was a long line, I try to ask a question and the guy gave me an attitude and was also arguing with a costumer, like are you serious?

2021-03-26The WORST customer service at a post office. It’s one of the only post offices in the area and the employees consistently have an attitude or are completely unhelpful. It’s been this way for years and has only gotten worse. Every time you need help, it’s like a bother to them. They NEVER attempt to leave a delivery notice either! It’s complete BS. They need new management or to scrap the employee roster altogether.

2021-01-04I didnt get any notice of attempted delivery for my package. Then they told me my package was unclaimed and is being returned to sender. But the sender says theres been no movement of the package since that message was sent and it should still be at the post office. I called them and the woman was very rude and immediately said the package isnt there. Didnt even ask my tracking number or look into it at all.Every time I go here the customer service is terrible. The lines are long, move slowly, and the staff acts like youre stupid and are bothering them.

2021-04-20Horribly rude. First off, they never attempted to deliver the package. When I went in, there were three open attendants all chatting to each other and I was the only one in line. No one called me over, one of them looked at me and kept chatting. I started to approach and she berated me for coming before they called. I said I was here for package pickup and she said to go to that window, I told her there was no one there and she looked at me like that was my problem and didn’t answer. She said I couldn’t just give her my tracking number, I had to go and print it out even though there is no sign anywhere that says that.

2021-07-24I wish I could give less than 1 star. There are around 8 people here and the doors were already locked when I got here at 3:30. The lady inside came out and said there were only 2 workers who had been working alll day…..You know there is really no point in leaving the rest of my review because no one cares. Go to the post office on 191st if you want dependable, professional service.
