United States Postal Service in other cities:
I can see why this location has such horrible ratings. I walked in carrying my puppy who was so scared and holding 2 packages to ship. Both of the women wouldnt help me at all, its as if I was asking them to do their job? I asked the women for tape, she told me to buy it, step aside and package it. She then told me I had to go to another store to ship it since it was UPS which it was not. Id rather travel twice the distance then to go back to this place. SAVE YOUR TIME, go to 72nd and 2nd MUCH nicer crowd.
Absolutely horrible. They barely scan packages. Theyve lost 3 of my items in the past several weeks. I sell on eBay and NEED reliable service to keep my customers happy, and this place is single handedly ruining my business. I also shipped 3 packages using overnight Priority Mail Express ($19.95) recently--dropped them in the blue box LABELED Priority Mail Express with a last pickup for 5 PM. The packages arrived after 5 days (NOT overnight). Couldnt get a refund because the useless supervisor Russell claimed that I mailed the packages late. How did he come to this conclusion? As mentioned before--they NEVER scan packages, so theres no proof against them that they deliver EVERY item late. He then told me that the money back guarantee was ONLY if you went to the counter inside (see reviews of long lines for this location above...). I asked what the point of the blue boxes outside were? Why is it labeled Last Pickup at 5 PM and For Priority Mail Express if they dont honor that type of service unless its taken to the counter inside. His response? I have to go--I have other things to do....DO NOT USE THIS POST OFFICE. EVER.
Giving this place 5 stars based solely on the service we received from one particular individual/employee.We were helped by a staff member named M. and she was super helpful and nice. We had a passport appointment on Sat and luckily she was still able to process our paperwork even though we were a little bit late. She double checked every detailed information with us and explained to us what we could expect in terms of turn around time and if anything emergent came up, the contact info.In terms of passport processing, it closes by noon on the weekends. You can go to the post office on 70th street as they take walk-ins and they open til 2pmm.This particular employee is one of a kind and I wish more employees were like her. Definitely an excellent role model.
I consistently have problems with the USPS and that is why, unless I cant help it, I never have packages sent via that route. They never know where my packages are. Getting to a human being is almost impossible when calling USPS, and this particular branch never answers the phone. It either rings endlessly or the line is busy, probably because someone else is trying to call. And to top it off, the only reason my packages ended up going to that location was because the USPS decided to attempt delivery on the west side of the city instead of the east side, which is where I live. I didnt realize I had moved!
I love this post office. As someone who lives in Brooklyn, this is vast improvement over my local post offices. I love the self service station. I have found the staff helpful and accommodating, preventing me from purchasing a more expensive envelope than I needed. The line is usually short. For a small space, its very efficient.
This morning I stopped by at my local post office on York Avenue and east 79 street.I have been using the service of this particular office for the least 6 years and have never experienced any problems except today – when a woman by the name of Siley was “taken care of” me. When I walked over to her window I immediately felt as though I were an annoyance. She didn’t greet me; she didn’t even look at me, but kept on acting as if she was doing a favor for me. There were no words: “please” or “thank you” used. I had two packages to be mailed – one was an international package going to Russia. I have elderly parents living in Russia and therefore send mail to Russia on a regular basis. Normally I would place the name of the country right in the center of the address label so it’s visual to the post office employees. I was told by Siley that the country name should be written on the very bottom of the address label instead. I didn’t mind it, but I did mention that it was strange because I was specifically “educated” by another post office employee in the past to have the country name in the middle of the label so it’s visual. At this point she said that: “it makes no sense and she has no patience to dealing with this” . I replied and said that I didn’t appreciate her tone at which point she said that I should go to a different window because she refused to help me. I asked her if a manager was available and she told me that I should walk over to a different location on Lexington avenue as there was no available manager for me to speak to. I had wait for another employee to assist me.I personally feel she has no place interacting with the public when she lacks the most basic sense of customer care.
IDK - lots of crappy reviews here - its really a pretty average post office - I go in, get my stuff out of the box. when I need to pick up packages they are nice about it, line isnt too long most of the time - physical plant is a little scrappy, but what do you want? we live in the USA where no one will pry open their wallet to pay for public services.
Perfectly average. Have never seen a line of more than three people. Usually use self-service but for things that need a receipt Ive interacted with a few employees and theyve been fine. Sad thing about this location is that packages for this area get sent down to the 60th street location instead of here for pick up. Now that is an awful post office...
This is by far the worst USPS office in NYC, possibly the country! Ive never encountered such rudeness. I take the subway and go to 53rd St. just so I would avoid dealing with them. I cant believe those clerks still have jobs. I wonder what they would do if the USPS became a privately owned company (I really hope it happens, btw.). They should not be allowed to work in an place where they have to deal with humans. May I suggest one of those stuff envelopes from home type jobs? That way theyd be out of sight for all of us.
No idea what they’re doing. I had an appointment to renew my passport and they were confused about what they needed from me because my old passport was being kept at a holding center. Hours after I left they told me to come back because they forgot to copy my license. When I came back they made me pay additional fees to send the application out even though I had a letter from the National Passport Center saying I only needed to pay for the execution fee (which I already paid during my appointment).
This is a Great Satellite Post Office! Our « Home » P.O. is on 70th Street, between 2nd & 3rd Avenues: it’s a lovely building, and it is Full-Service, but it’s more than a 1/2 Mile (walk) away from us, which is Not convenient. We always wondered why our mail was delivered so late in the afternoon: it’s because we’re at the furthest reaches of this Postal Area! Thank Goodness for our Neighborhood Service!
Can not even get them on the phone EVER ( i have tried maybe 5-6 times over the past year to contact them on the phone - NOTHING. also the lines are long, and everytime i go there to get something answered - they give me another tell number to call, this place is only good if u have nothing to do - and like standing in long lines, and only need forever american flag stamps. other than that its worth hitting your head against the wall than even approaching this place with in a 15 block radius!

2021-12-31Visited this post office for what should have been a simple transaction. The teller (Mathew) was extremely rude and unprofessional. Refused to help with even the most basic questions. Refused to put a piece of box tape over a puffy envelope that was tearing a bit at the corner (never had a post office teller refuse to do something so easy and well within their post office job responsibilities). He raised his voice and threw an envelope back at me when I began to walk away. Absolutely appalling and unprofessional behavior. Another teller had to step in and help, she was lovely, but the behavior of the first teller is totally unacceptable.

2021-11-26I dealt with the young lady by the name of Wanda BENNET-Gould about 2 times attitude within the past month and she is disgusting. She literally will roll her eyes at you before taking you. If you aren’t ready when you get to the front she rushes you to stand a side to take someone else. She discuss her personal business on the floor while taking guest. Her patience isnt made for customer service and it shows. She talks like she’s just there for the money. I have seen guest get into arguments with her and threaten To not come back. Place is a dump when you enter it anyway. Will NEVER RECOMMENDED. I as well as a few of my colleagues have stopped going to this post office due to her HORRIBLE customer service. It’s seem her bad attitude reflects off onto all the workers. I have asked to speak to the manager once and she told me the manager was on break try calling later. People like that don’t have no good coming to them in life why not just stay home and be the low nasty attitude that you are. Oh and came back to deprived another package maybe a week later and Wanda look to me was of disgust

2021-07-08Staff is incredibly rude. I went up to counter and asked to buy tape. The lady rolled her eyes, snatched my packing label, read it for a few seconds before tossing it back to me and said next time buy your own tape. But that’s what I was trying to do, buy tape. She said I could step to the side. I ended up leaving and going across the street to buy my own tape. I don’t understand the need to be so rude. You definitely lost my business.

2020-08-06Awful feeling to be refused because of my emotional support dog (paperwork in hand) Brought my support dog with me and the teller refused to help me saying she was allergic to dogs. She then made me step aside and wait while she helped other people. After all of this she called me over again to mail my parcels. Super rude

2019-12-12I never write reviews but I’ve also never experienced such disrespect and poor customer service. Came in the first time perfectly fine they scanned my return code from amazon no problem. Came back in a couple months later and worked with THE SAME WOMAN and she refused to do it. Told me I never came in with an amazon package before and would not help me. In fact berated me for even thinking I could do it. Never go here unless you want to waste your time.

2018-12-04Wow! That was fast, efficient, helpful, and friendly service! I wish I lived in this area to use this post office all the time. The friendly clerk recommmended the best, safest, and least expensive way to send my passport renewal. She took care of it all quickly, left me confident that my passport would be safe, and I was in and out with my tracked mail sent on its way in under 5 mins. Thank you. Keep up the great work!
