My husband had a procedure done yesterday May 19th here at Unity. From Dr.Roshan Karki all the way down with his amazing staff Bob got the best treatment anyone could ask for. They answered all our questions so we could understand what was going to happen. The care that he received was genuine and the staff were so nice and we even shared some laughs together. I would highly recommend this hospital and thank you for your care 😊
Are you kidding me Unity!?! Get your security guards to show some compassion!!!The female security guard by the name of A. Something chased us down as I was running to the stairs to see my Grandfather take his last breath and she said, “ YOU HAVE TO CHECK IN!!!” Mind you, security guards had seen us there for several days before. Part of security is taking note of someone or something that seems out of place, obviously, we weren’t it! I said” My Grandfather is dying!”A. Whatsherface was faced with a choice, handle this situation with some sort of compassion and acknowledgment that we had been there visiting him for days, or show off her “authority” in front of surrounding guests of Unity Hospital. Security guard A. Powertrip , couldn’t help herself, she chose the latter. Her response was” IT DOESN’T MATTER, THIS IS THE RULES OF THIS!!!”Good to know that my Grandfather was taking his final breaths, and it didn’t matter. One star Unity... I hope this matter will be addressed.
I just want to thank you every single one works at The birth center in unity hospital they are nothing but angels 😇 they made the whole transition super smooth they were super super nice and very helpful I just want to huge and kiss them all very very nice snd super amazing experience thank you so much for everything you guys did to my wife snd my new baby Mahmoud you guys are angels for real
Doctors have no idea what theyre doing here. I had a chest tube in place for a collapsed lung. Doctor came in to do a flush and after looking at it all confused for a few minutes, yanks the tube apart causing my lungs to collapse again. Would not recommend this hospital to anyone
Very frustrating experience. The lack of consideration and organization in the ER is outrageous. We brought a 91 year old family member into ER at 2 pm and we were advised we would get a call from the nurse once the patient was in triage and then someone could come in to communicate with the staff. We were promised a call with updates - that never happened for 6 hours we had to keep calling to get any updates. This is the third time we have had a this year that we have had horrible experience at Unity and have always had great experiences in the past. I know hospital staff is overworked and underpaid, but the consideration for the patient and their loved ones is lacking severely . This points to lack of competent leadership! We will be seeking our medical services elsewhere in the future.
I went to the ER late evening due to a week long low grade fever/high blood pressure event with low heart rate on the advice of a nurse friend since I can take those measurements at home. I will say the wait was about five hours which was unpleasant, but they did an EKG right after I came in and it was clear so the wait wasnt a big surprise. Once I was finally taken back into the triage area it was another couple of hours but they took a bunch of blood for testing, figured out the heart rate was actually an arrhythmia and not an emergency, and ruled out a bunch of high risk things. Mostly it was time running tests. The nurses and doctor were pretty professional and once they established I was stable enough I was discharged in the morning. Not my fastest ER visit but not my longest either. The worst part about it was someone who I suspect (due to their own comments) was seeking opiates who was constantly moaning and crying in an exaggerated fashion for several hours. Otherwise it was just a waiting game.
My reception to the hospital was very reasonable meaning staff at the entrance but once I got inside the emergency department where the medic medical staff was working there very rude not everyone I was discharged while still under the influence of morphine I was diagnosed with Sciatic Nerve on my left leg and was given a prescription of 10 mg of ketorolac Im at home today and I cant even walk! Youre going to send me a bill for services right good luck getting paid Im not paying nothing for that rud service!
The medical hospital staff was phenomenal and the best of the three hospitals for me in the area. But the lobby staff and security officers judged me right away, so I had to separate from the hospital. They refused to understand how paramount clear communication is for my success, and that if they had given the same standard of communications the medical staff had given, no problems would have happened.
Would give it zero stars! Worse hospital in Rochester!!! Its dirty and ghetto nursing staff very unprofessional. Patients do not get quality care what so ever!! The floor my dad stayed on patients were laying on mattresses with no bed sheets also Everytime my dad needed help they acted as if he was a burden and they were too busy to help him to the bathroom. Go to strong or Rochester general and get proper care
May 2021My sister needed immediate care and was taken to the ER at Unity Hospital. Dr. Wolfe in the ER was compassionate and caring during his phone conversations with me regarding her progress. Stephanie and Lindsey (Physician Assistants); Heather (Nurse); and Ellen (Social Worker) and the receptionists who answered the phones were all amazing! Everyone I interacted with was professional, very caring and took time to answer questions which helped me immensely during a difficult situation. Thank you to all of you. I am truly grateful to each and everyone!
Overbilled me for a simple ER visit. When I explained to the billing department what was overbilled they told me that the bill was correct because it matched their records. No effort to investigate why their records contradicted with my experiences, just telling me that I was wrong about what services I know I did and did not receive. So I had to speak with their record correction department, who is very poorly communicative and took several weeks after me notifying them that their incorrect record was affecting my bill for them to tell me that they were working on a correction. Because they took so long to respond, I attempted to speak to the billing department again, only to again be met with the same indifferent attitude. There is clearly not even an attempt to communicate between the records and billing teams despite how the record affects my bill, because this hospital does not want you to have an easy time of correcting an overbill and just want to take as much money from you as they can. Im now past the first deadline on my bill because they of course will not even pause my bill while my record is under review, but Im not going to pay until I am at least billed on services that I actually did receive.
The staff is great and the rooms comfortable. The free Parking is great. BUT, the food has a lot to be desired. We placed orders for food the day prior. Reg coffee or tea instead of decaf, ham “dinner “ instead of a sandwich and salad-ground tuna on white (looked like liver wurst) as a replacement .etc. this happened at lunch and dinnerWhen I mentioned it to the nursing staff and the person delivering the meals I was told they get a lot of complaints.I went to the cafe for lunch on Saturday, and ended up just getting yogurt as there were minimal appetizing choices.I will be bringing some food from home as back up from now on-ridiculous.
My dad went in for hip surgery and the nurses were awesome!! The food service was aweful!!! My dad is a diabetic and they kept brining high carb high sugar meals! We were supposed to get boost low sugar at each meal for protein, but i had to go to cafateria myself for him! They never brought it! Not even a replacement sandwhich for him to eat like we asked. This is the worst food service ever. Stay on top of your family and what they are given at all times!!
I write this review in absolute disbelief that nurses behave the way they do and that this hospital ALLOWS it.My brothers experience on floor three post surgery with nurse Rebekah was beyond appalling. Several other nurses under her were equally as verbally combative and nasty to my very ill brother.I am my brothers health care proxy as he is unable to represent him self and have filled out the survey and spoken to patient care who basically dismissed my concerns.Unbelievable!
Their billing department is impossible to work with. We have been billed multiple times for services they were supposed to send to the Veterans Administration. We have called, we have visited, we have reminded them when my husband had procedures performed to make sure the VA is to be billed first. I was met with a smart attitude from the person I discussed the issue with. The billing department blames it on the Doctors office whoever is doing the billing there. The Doctors Office blames Rochester Regional billing. No one there listens and they all keep passing the buck. Ridiculous
I went in last night for chest pain. I could not be more happy with the care I received. The nurse was seriously the sweetest girl and made me feel so comfortable. My doctor was extremely thorough with the assessment, diagnostics and my care. He made me feel absolutely comfortable, and made me feel like I was in good hands. He explained things to me every step of the way and kept me informed on his findings. I was not just sitting in the hospital bed for hours waiting for people to take care of me, from the second I was brought in, the nurses and doctor were hands on. Thank you to the staff at unity for treating me like I mattered!
This hospital and the staff there are the only reason Im writing a review instead of being in the obituaries - - thats no exaggeration. I can not thank the staff enough for the treatment I was given day in and day out, which even when I thought it was against my best interest at the time it was because I was too disoriented to even know what was real at times. My only regret is not knowing the full staff, from my nurses to food services that helped me the entire time so that I could personally apologize to some and thank them all. Again if not for this hospital, instead of reading the prayers and well-wishes of friends that posted on my facebook while I was away, I would be dead. Thank you all so much.
Worst hospital my dad was in and every time I call for update they would say nurse will call she’s busy 5 hrs later call again now out to lunch. They do not care about patients especially elderly or their families. Very few compassionate nurses especially on the 2nd floor. So disappointed in his care
This hospital is wonderful me and my wife are from out of town we are originally from Batavia, we will no longer go to Batavia hospital because we get treated like animals there unity hospital was and has always been wonderful, my wife delivered our baby recently at this hospital and everyone was amazing, about a week after our baby was born she started having problems and was passing large clots the size of an egg this hospital had my wife come in for an ultrasound found there was blood clots in there offered her three options and were very understanding. They are wonderful we recommend this hospital and this birth center to everyone we know thank you for being the sweetest and most professional people out there
This hospital is deplorable. My elderly mother was on floor three after an operation and was treated like an animal by the nurses. These nurses on floor three could not be more obstant, snarky and rude. The staff must hate the positions they have as simple requests were met with a begrudging attitude. So sorry that my elderly mother needed a bed pan and you were interrupted texting in the hallway. Now that COVID is here, these nurses think they can behave however they wish and talk however they want due to family visits being restricted so they must think that with the lack of family presence, they can get away with things they normally would not pre COVID.Try putting the mask around your face at the reception desk as well as we are in the midst of a pandemic.Dont bother with the generic response of false concern to this review. If anyone actually cared, these nurses would have better bedside manner because the lousy attitudes would have been corrected long ago. Period. My mother pays for her health insurance. These nurses as well as this hospital is paid for by US, the patients. They are allowed to get away with what they do because there is no consequences to the behavior. It doesnt matter how many complaints are forged, how many surveys are collected showing dissatisfaction with the service received by patients of this hospital, it is just story after story from people who are treated like animals by nursing staff at this hospital.
I was in there for chest pain and I have anxiety depression and PTSD I was starting to have a panic attack and ask to speak to one of the nurses she came right over and sat down and started to talk to me to try to calm me down everything was going well and then out of nowhere a nurse came out and with a very nasty disgusting tone in her voice says well everyone has to wait the situation was already being handled with the first nurse I asked to talk to so the need for her to come out of nowhere and to say that was totally disrespectful and very inconsiderate of someones personal issues and then I tried to find out the nurses name and no one knows it
I just spent 6 hours in the ER sent there by urgent care thinking I was having a stroke. I left along with 6 other patients that were there as long or longer than myself. I understand they are short handed. At check in the one nurse or doctor looked at me and said hypertension not a stroke; I did not know you could evaluate someone by looking at them no exam. So now I’m home , don’t know my results of any tests and when I asked how much longer I m told just a few more hours., no eye contact just said ok you can see your results on my chart. Is this considered health care? I do not think so.A. Tatta
When I walked in the Security was rude , making fun of the way i was walking and laughing. Nurses was nice I had about 4 of them wasnt even sure who was the main one to speak with. One nurse was really nice Ive been sitting in the cold for 2 hrs and she asked if i needed a blanket she got me a warm one.
My family doc sent me to Unity to be admitted for chronic UTIs as I have MS. The nurses are excellent but the doctor??!! TERRIBLEFrom the moment he approached me I felt interrogated. I am 60 and proactive with my health. He proceeded to tell me that I was never treated for UTI at Unity and then said and I quote: You do realize we are in the middle of a Pandemic!!!!!????? Unprofessional!
If I could give this hospital a negative star, I would. My grandmother died slowly over the course of 6 or more hours of end-stage congestive heart failure over the weekend. This was on Saturday, my family was informed she couldn’t have palliative care until Monday! As if people only pass away during normal business hours! They failed in their clinical judgement, failed to act and get her to hospice care where they could have eased her suffering properly. Instead, not knowing what to do, they neglected her for hours, merely giving her a half of a Percocet and an Ativan. Intraoral medications have extremely limited efficacy on patients in this advanced stage of disease! The team was not prepared to handle end-of-life care. Do not take your elderly or very sick loved one here, very serious concerns about patient care, judgement, and to be honest, their humanity.
Floor 3 post surgery is the armpit of the healthcare industry with the most incompetent, brash, arrogant and off putting nurses in the medical field. The fact that Unity tolerates this type of behavior is unfathomable. An absolute horrid stay for my fiance here that we will never forget. To future patients coming to Unity, be sure to note names of all staff you come in contact with.
I came in to unity hospital, because my daughter was having some pregnancy. I must admit I was very nervous. As I enter the emergency dept looking for her, I encounter security guard. This security was very rude. I explain my concerns and why I was there. He prejudge me and and assume that I was there to cause a scene. And told me only the father could go in. I didnt have an issue with it. But ,I am very dissatisfied on how he talk to me. Im also nost 60 yrs old. MR T****, needs a class on etiquette!!!
Super annoying . Came in because my daughter would not stop throwing up . After some tests the doctor told us it appeared she had gastritis and a possible ulcer and needed to see a GI doctor . Then told us that there was a shift change and he had everything set for her to be discharged as we were there all night and the new doctor would have us out the door as soon as she came in. I went out to the waiting room and asked what the hold up was twice as that was an hour and half ago and we are still sitting in here waiting . Often times they have more patients then they do rooms so people are put in the halls on a bed for days at a time , while all their personal information is discussed in front of others, and you have No privacy. When you call the emergency room number the person who answers has no idea if there are rooms available so you can make the choice to go to another hospital if the hall is the only option. They have no issue charging you the 250 copay when you walk out though ..... after spending an entire day in the hall. Very disappointed
Whats with all the negative reviews???Just was in there in August with a severe asthma attack. Dr. Endrizzi (sp?) was amazing and the EMTs/nurses were great. [[My only complaint is that they put me on a hallway stretcher, which is whatever theyre busy, but they changed my clothes and it seemed like everyone else saw because the curtain wasnt closed all the way!]] Sent to the ICU and coded -- the nurses/Dr. Schinlever saved my life basically; I owe them that. Tara, Jill, Amanda, and Kylynn were my nurses, and I cant say anything bad about them. Yeah, the residents are always know-it-alls and take forever to discharge, but otherwise, very courteous. Been admitted 5 times for asthma and had a good experience every single time. For all those complaining about the food, the nurses yelling at your family, or there not being enough space; thats ridiculous. 1: Its hospital food. Are you expecting 5-star? 2: The nurses only get agitated when theres more than 2 to a room or your family is obnoxious or you break the simple rules. AND dont be rude! Seen it happen a couple times, and the staff are in the right pretty much every time. Middle-aged people and addicts are the majority of offenders. I mean, how hard is it to be respectful, to not do drugs in your room, and to not bring 25 family members/friends?! Youre at the hospital to rest and recover, not have a party. And 3: Dont expect the emergency room to cater to you when you have a sore throat or youre throwing up or you have a migraine - other patients may have it way worse. Its not a hotel. Go to urgent care, see your primary doctor, and get a flu shot every year like everyone else. I have spoken, and my opinions cant be changed!
Came in through the ER for my wife. My wife was placed on a bed in the hallway even though countless rooms were available. At no point was i, nor our 4yo daughter, offered a chair to sit with my wife. We sat for well over an hour without a single person talking to us, other than someone from billing. Eventually we gave up waiting and left. No care for my wife, no treatment. But our insurance will get billed, Im sure.
I spent half a day in the Emergency Department with horrible asthma triggered by an upper respiratory infection. The PA assigned to me (Amanda Baldauf) was great and listened and devised a plan to help.My nurses were AMAZING! A special shoutout to Jasmine and Sam who stayed on top of things until I could breathe normally again. They were so kind and caring. (And the IV didnt even hurt.)Also a shoutout to the X-ray techs who treated me so well when I experienced a terrible anxiety attack and who talked me through it.No one wants to spend the day at the hospital, but if you need good care and good people to provide it, go to Unity.
Doctor response extremely slow, was supposed to bring my mom home in the morning 03/11/2022 its 11:57 am still no doctor in sight I absolutely hate it when doctors do this and my mother really wants to go home, she pleaded with me to take her home the night before 03/10/2022.
1 star for nice rooms but I wouldn’t let anyone I care about go here. Total lack of communication. My mother’s records were left open and unattended in a hallway for all to see. On the unattended mobile computer station were unsecured narcotics, insulin and a fast food drink ready to spill all over everything! I’m considering contacting a lawyer for that and the multiple screw ups.
Underwent surgery yesterday (still a patient). Up until the evening and night shifts everything was great.HOWEVER, after three PM and until seven AM the staff was neglectful, rude and grossly incompetent.I will be writing a detailed sequence of events to Unity board members Jo Petersen (President) and Paul Mohagen (Vice President). In addition, I will be sending a carbon copy to my insurance carrier; Excellus BlueCross BlueShieldP.S. RN (practicing 40 years (active) and CPC Professional Coder.
Ive been here 12 hours so far on Christmas night. Its absolutely horrible. Im laying on a bed in a hallway and they could care less. They say they are going to admit me but after laying in a hallway this long without any effort of getting a room I think they want me to die so they dont have to help me. So glad I chose this hospital when I was home for the holidays and needed medical care. Merry Christmas.
I went in with an intestinal blockage was left in a hallway in the emergency area for 3 hours. i was in tears from the pain no pain meds for over 3 hours just left there to cry. finally im evaluated then another 90 mins before i get something for the pain. im admitted but still left in a hallway with over 30 others. that place is a joke. the nurses even say its a joke as to how many people are just left in the hallways making it dangerous to get around and treat them. i will never go back there!!!
I felt very harassed by the women at this hospital during my surgery. I am lgbt, and the nurses refused to stop saying things that I deem harassment even after I asked them specifically to stop specific harassive behaviors. Their demeanor was also very disrespectful of my lgbt gender identity.
My grandma (in law) has been for the last little while been living at an assisted living facility. She was sent to Unity and diagnosed with pneumonia, and has spent the past two weeks there pretty much confined to her bed and a chair, triggering a monitor every time she’d stand. They gave her so little opportunity over that span to walk, that when they finally allowed her to walk, her legs gave out. Supposedly her assisted living facility has evaluated her twice and determined they can no longer give her the level of care she needs and said she should be in a nursing home. Before this diagnosis, she was in the best shape of 90% of the patients at assisted living. She walked daily, usually without any assistance other than a cane for added stability, and her wherewithal vastly exceeded many she shared space with, who would do little more than mumble (in a wheelchair!!!).I refuse to believe that she’s declined so much in two weeks that they can no longer care for her, and that Unity has done ANYthing useful to prevent this catastrophic situation. This is not the first time I’ve seen my grandma mishandled under their care, and I honestly think they’re the worst hospital I’ve ever come in contact with.
Husband went there and they were terrible, lousy food and CNA that just hang out in halls talking about social things. You can not get better with such lousy food. People did not care about the ones who are sick in the beds. Only had one good nurse Dante and two good doctors. Would not send any one there. Would not go back to this place for any reason.
I am so shocked to read negative reviews of this hospital.I was there before renovations and recently after renovations and my experience both times was absolutely wonderful. Both visits were for surgery and everyone there from the receptionist to the nursing staff was wonderful.I love that place and I travel an hour to get there.
Why would you give a patient a bad banana and dry tuna, also why would you give them more of one medication knowing it makes their heart rate and bp go ski high. Why not stick with what the doc prescribes them. Not too happy on how my family member is being treated their.
Put my 83-year-old mother into a cab at 7 am Sunday morning with no shoes or coat...in November, without notifying family. She was sent back when found wandering in Wegmans with a blanket by the police. Utter incompetence and lack of concern, as if this was normal. Phone calls not returned, and nothing but defensiveness and I wasnt there. God forbid you get old and wind up there.
Wish I could give a negative number!!!!!!!! Ridiculous!!!!!! Got to ER at 1:30am with my grandmother who is having major pain in her head and neck, it is now 4:09 and we have yet to even talk to somebody!!!!!!!!! Nurses are walking around laughing at eachother and making jokes, whispering to eachother at their computers, GOD FORBID THERE WAS AN EMERGENCY!!!!!! SLOWEST MOVING EMERGENCY ROOM IVE EVER SEEN!!!!! I WOULDNT SEND MY HAMSTER HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(ER Part of hospital) ⭐I dont understand how things are organized here... It was very noisy and they had patients in the hallways because all of the rooms were full. Apparently, that is the norm here! Why dont they expand this place or send patients to another hospital? Also, there was a cranky male nurse that wanted us (there were 4 people in our group) to leave because only 2 people can visit a patient at a time due to cramped hallways... If you sent patients to other hospitals, that would solve the problem. I dont recommend this hospital for emergencies...(Recovery / Hospital Rooms) ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐The room was very nice, clean and modern. There was the usual bed, a nice recliner, and plenty of seats for visitors! The doctor and nurse were very professional! I would recommend this hospital for recovery.
Great experience! My wife just got discharged today. I can honestly say that for the 2 days she was there I did not encounter anyone that was not genuinely nice or helpful. From the volunteers to the nurses to the doctors, every one was great. Thanks to all at Unity Hospital. My wife stayed at one of their newly refurbished rooms and they were very nice!
Impacted and had an enigma. One week later I complained about stomach pain but I was discharged immediately and told to leave the hospital premises security escorted me to the bus I couldnt even sit on the bench outside I sat on the ground waiting for the bus then I gladly left that emergency department
Horrible. I cant believe that the closest hospital to my house is the worst ever. Waited 4 hours for my son to be called, when there wasnt even 6 people in the waiting room. Staff seem they hate their job. Needs a lot of improvement. I dont even want to give it one star. So disappointed!!!👎🏻
I went to the hospital last night for severe stomach pains. I laid in bed for two hours in pain until 1am. I was never seen. It was not busy. No one in the waiting room doctors and nurses sitting at desks talking about their weekend. I finally left without being seen. I will never go to this ER again.
Wish there were a no star option. horrible experience in emergency. took my daughter who was having trouble breathing in at 145AM. waited 20 min for receptionist to process paperwork from previous patient. Helloooo-trouble breathing, thats why we are in Emergency!! Then took over 4 hours for a doctor to finally see her! There were 2 other patients in the hospital at that time, seriously? I will NEVER go here again!
The emergency waiting room takes to long very rude staff in front. The staff in the front desk do not take their work seriously and do not show any compassion toward the patients. My sister was in very bad serious condition because of her kidney. It took them hours until they called her name then took more hours inside until the doctor came. I’m very concerned how the front desk treat the patients here there were so many faults from them. I saw the women in front of desk checking a clothing website on the computer while talking to patient. I hope unity hospital fix these mistakes, it’s unacceplable.
My husband and I were traveling from Arizona to Cape Cod spent the night in Rochester, NY and about 5:30 in the morning he was woke up with very bad abdomen pain so about 10:30 am we went into the emergency department. Ended up appendix was inflamed so surgery was next, everyone was so great to us from the time we entered the hospital. I would highly recommend this Hospital, Thanks to all
Went to this hospital when I got back from my trip to Florida after having vomited and severe stomach pain. I had previously been diagnosed with strep throat and had no idea that these were symptoms as well. Spent 2 hours just waiting on the doctor to see me. Once she did, they prescribed me with the exact same antibiotics I was prescribed the first time I was diagnosed with strep throat two weeks prior - amoxicillin. I told the doctor this and asked for something stronger. She assured me that they would do their best and that I was free to go. When I got to the pharmacy and they told me that she in fact did not change the medication, the pharmacist offered to call and speak with the doctor. The pharmacist stated that the doctor was very rude and nasty about the situation and refused to change my medication. Two weeks later, I was back at the doctors office fighting strep once again! Never going back there.
I feel as though I was treated like a second class citizen anytime I would ask a question I get attitude everyone eats but me they make me feel like Im missing the job so very hard I wish I was not from out of town otherwise this might be different if you are minority do not come to this hospital Ive been getting the runaround since 7 oclock last night not 1 person here has been friendly to me I heard they told him what makes me feel better and they still dont listen I told him that Im a paramedic and that doesnt mean anything to them if you have a choice of hospitals go to a different 1 I should have listened to my relatives that live here
I talked to nurse Kelly Blanchard in emergency. She needs to learned bed side manners. She was so rude. She needs training of how to talk to patients. I hate to go to this hospital. This is my second time there. I didnt want to drive to RGH since I was in so much pain. I should of know better. This hospital is down the street from my house and I have regreted both times I have gone there.
Went to Emergency there with pains radiating from the left part of my chest and right on down to my left wrist. Was concerned that this was heart related. The attending doctor asked me to rate with a number the level of pain that I was having. I told him7. He said that could not be due to the fact that I was not writhing in pain. Amazing. That was on April 2. I do not recall his name or else I would name him here. All I remember is that he was African American with a shaved head. Terrible bedside manners. I give that hospital a zero!
Not a terrible hospital. Great for childbirth and kidney stones. Dont take your kids or traumatic injuries there, youll get transferred to another hospital. The cafeteria is tremendous. Try the frittata, its delicious. Take it from a paramedic who frequents all the hospitals, Unity has the best cafeteria.I got a giant pancake that day as noted in the picture.
Worst nurses Ive encountered in a hospital. Blase and negligent, as far as Ive seen from the post-op experience (and including the surgical PA). Other help seemed gracious. The complaint department is a joke. They will all just cover each others backs and patient treatment will suffer. Too big to fail, people in a difficult spot (like after surgery) need compassionate, balanced nurses. You wont find them here, from my experience.
Worst hospital in the area in my opinion and Ive been to or had a family member in each. They have PAs taking care of all their patients and no real Drs around. If you need to see a PA when something is wrong you have to wait for hours even if in stepdown icu. Specialty disciplines see someone once and dont follow up for days while that person is still in the hospital and problem is getting worse. At least this has been my experience. Place looks nice the care is subpar to all others in area in my opinion. Dont go here with anything serious.
Id rather die than go here, I filed a formal complaint against the pa I saw in the er. They called my back to tell me to see an on call specialist the pa missed some tests and it was urgent they told me this 4 days later after I was discharged and saw urgent care and my gp. I told them to fire the pa (besides an idiot she was unprofessional and everyone in the er made fun of her and how we were all going to compain) I never saw anyone for four afters after I had a room. Someone died and 16 of their family members came in and threw tantrums everywhere. People were out in the hallway it was super ghetto. Worst experience of my life. Save yourself and go to Rochester general!! Also, I obtained my own medical records and saw several discrepancies (playing with cell phone-i have no games on my cell phone and my phone was dead my entire stay in the hospital..i was laughing and joking with friends...my mother actually sent a chaplain over I have no friends in new york Im from fla...) 😒
Went to the e.r. after having a severe migraine for 3 days. Nothing i had at home worked. I gotta say... my nurse was great... but the p.a. that came in after over an hour to see me barely made eye contact with me. And then made me feel like a drug seeker when i told her what usually works for me. Ive had these for 26 years so i kind of know what works and what doesnt. Got morphine which only causes rebound headaches but i was desperate for any kind of relief. My headache started to come back after 3 hours... i rang my nurse button. A very disheveled guy who i think was a tech came in. I said my headache was back and wanted to know if i could have one more round of morphine... he procedes to say we cant just keep medicating patients with morphine over and over! He seemed maybe like a special needs volunteer so i tried to not talk down to him... but explained that the dr didnt want me leaving til i had less pain. He was very rude... misinformed, and loud. It then took my p.a. and hour to come give me more morphine. After that i chose to be discharged asap. I usually have good experiences at unity but i was not so lucky tjis time. Lots of attitude and eye roling.
I can only assume that hospital reviews are either 5 star or 1 star. Why else would you review a medical procedure unless you were completely satisfied or totally unhappy about the experience.I obviously was very pleased with my medical outcome. I had surgery to remove a calcified mass from my trapezius. The surgeon obviously had the most to do with my outcome but the Unity Park Ridge was where it happened so they can share in my good review as well.It had been a while since I had any medical procedure before so I was pleasantly surprised when I checked in and was handed a restaurant style buzzer to let me know when they were coming for me. It lets people walk around instead of sitting and waiting, which probably helps people who have a reason to be more nervous than I was.I was in and out the same day and couldnt have been more pleased with the experience.
I arrived at 12:24 am December 29th. Upon arrival nobody was in line in the ER Department. I was ent by not only my Primary but also Urgent care. The woman at the counter was way to busy on her phone and distracted by the Guards flirting with each other too attend to a patient. After about 5 minutes she managed enough time to make sure I could pay for my visit. I was told to take a seat even after my Primary Physician said I needed to be see immediately. When I asked her how long the wait would be she laughed.. After that she spent the next 10 minutes joking and laughing. Very professional people in pain and or possibly dying and this so called woman is laughing and joking around all night? Sorry real life isnt a TV show.
Someone I know has a previous head injury, suffers from a number of issues that meds are required not to mention a strong case of vertigo, He fell two times two days ago, yesterday he fell in the middle of a 4 lane highway and got knocked up pretty bad with a black eye, scraped arms and legs and disorientated. Rgh transferred him to Unity. They rushed an evaluation putting on his forms that he was ok to be discharged as he walked ok with a walker and before I could arrive they discharged him before we could get there and talk to anyone. I was hoping to come in and talk to the Drs and ask if help was available due to the fact he seems to be deteriorating and becoming less and less able to take care of himself. I was called by my daughter who went to pick him up as he said the discharged him and he was in the lobby.I am disgusted and shocked. I called and talked to 2 different people that were in charge of him. They said they could not help me. I said you have an injured man who lives in an apt that has 25 stairs just to get into his apt. You discharged a man with no ride, no help and was picked up by someone as he waited outside. fyi his discharge was NOT AMA. Why did noone ask family any questions. WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO A SAFE DISCHARGE!!!! SHAME ON YOU. I PUT IN MY RECORDS TODAY NEVER TO GO THERE AND NEVER LET MY FAMILY GO THERE.
In 2014 I went to Highland with excruciating abdominal pain. I told them the pain was a 10 and they left me in an empty waiting room for 2.5 hours. I was in so much pain, I went outside and laid down on the grass in front of the doors because I could no longer sit. I was still ignored. I left without being seen and decided to take a chance on Unity. They got me right into a bed, immediately gave me pain meds & fluids, and did a CT a few hours later. Another few hours after that I was in surgery having my appendix removed. I was in & out in less than 24 hours. They were wonderful and caring the entire time, unlike Highland who would have allowed me to die in their waiting room.
I really am not one to complain about health care since I manage a medical clinic in San Diego, CA. However.... the care that Unity has provided to my elderly mother, has been less than satisfactory. My poor 81 year old mother has been in the ER for a day and half. Has not been given a diet, went in for a migraine headache and now has to be admitted for problems because of lack of attention. She was left in the hallway, then given a room, but later removed and placed back in the hallway. My poor father can not find anyone to answer questions. He said there is no one around. Afraid to leave my mother alone he sat by her side without eating or drinking anything until 2:00 am. I finally told him on the phone to go get something to eat for yourself, because no one there recommended he should go home or get something to eat. This is incredibly disconcerting and unacceptable.
What a dreadful experience we had when my both my parents were hospitalized at Unity in September of 2015. Repeatedly, over a period of six weeks, they were discharged and readmitted, due to poor choices by their healthcare providers. Lack of follow up in the hospital left my mother with a UTI and my father with renal failure. To make matters worse, the billing and coding staff continued to make errors, adding up to more than $12,000!!! Nine months later, we were pleased that insurance company finally was able to get the hospital to properly resubmit their claims, only to have the hospital send their charges to a collection agency! And that was after we were assured by that this wouldnt go to collections. Very sleezy for a place that is supposed to care for people in need. I will note, however that the ICU staff, that we got to know very well, was extremely compassionate. It was only while my parents were under the care of the ICU staff did I feel safe to leave the hospital to care for small children.
Literally sitting here on my wife’s lunch break and the cafe worker is loudly singing and playing music. Does he realize this is a hospital? People die here, families come to this cafe to sit and talk BUT THEY CANNOT DO THAT WHEN HE IS BEING SO OBNOXIOUS. How is this a hospital policy to let this type of action occur? Unity needs to get its act together, if i wanted to see a show, I would go to broadway. Dude cannot even sing well! I should also note, my wife who is a nurse, politely asked him to stop and he told her there are other areas she can go to! She gets 30 mins, this is ridiculous. It happens EVERY. NIGHT. I. AM. HERE.
My niece is in this place. She was 1st admitted 8 days ago. They told her, after many tests & a spinal tap, that she had viral meningitis. So they start giving her antibiotics (which I always thought were useless when its viral) & she starts feeling better and they tell her she will probably go home in a few days. Then a few days later they tell her it was not meningitis but a staph infection & give her more antibiotics. She seem to improve so in a few days they send her home. By the next night she is very sick & her dad brings her back there. They tell her she now has an infection of the large intestine. Again with the antibiotics and they are always telling her that they are running tests. For what nobody seems to know. Next day she feels better and they tell her going home in 3 days. Then the next morning she does not feel well they run more tests and now are telling her she has a blood clot in her lung!!! What the heck. They do not know what they are doing and it is very scary. If you live in Rochester, NY please go to U of R Medical Center or Rochester General, Unity sucks big time.
I have had two life-saving surgeries at Unity Hospital. By Gods grace, my life was spared twice! I thank God for the dedicated staff there, from PCTs to nurses to the doctors and PAs. They not only did everything they could to save my life, but also to get me to a full recovery. I now work again full time and support my family because of the great care I got at Unity hospital.

2021-10-14I have been going here with my girlfriend throughout her pregnancy and for the most part everyone here is pretty good. The only thing I dont like is the one time we have come in way ahead of time for our appointment and the receptionist forgot to check us in and had us waiting in the waiting room for an entire hour while everyone who came in after us was going in before us. There is one specific receptionist here who has been rude on a few different occasions. Other than that the people who do the sonograms are great, very nice, and very thorough. They are great at answering questions and making you feel comfortable with what they are doing in the appointments. Overall Ive had great experiences each time Ive been here and would definitely recommend coming here for prenatal care.

2022-02-14My mom was on the third floor! After spending two nights in a crowded noisy ER. She broke her hip and cracked her head open and needed eight Staples in the back. As I know everybody has been affected by this awful pandemic everybody. Especially in the health field they are very low on staff and I understand that. I was a little disappointed due to the fact of family member found my mother sitting in her own urine. I also brought up at least five different sweatshirts and hoodies to her being so cold, when she was just charged she had the same sweater on I put on 5 days earlier after her sponge bath hello Park ridge thats why we brought my mother stuff up so she could be changed not have her clean clothes to sit there growing dust. Most of the nurses were really nice with my mom given the fact she is not a very nice patient she is difficult and then the first one to admit that. But when youre in the hospital and you already been through multiple surgeries as my mother has of course youre going to be a little bit irritable. It was mostly clean Park ridge but as far as keeping up with changing my mom that didnt happen and I dont think a couple were too nice to my mom. I know you guys are working against the clock I know you are understaffed and you all are afraid of the virus but the elderly are people too you just cant leave them sitting there crying sitting in their own pee. If you dont like your job get a new one cuz one day youre all going to be elderly and youre going to be in that position and youre going to know how it is to sit in your own pee. Im glad my mothers home with my sisters and my dad being changed and a warm comfy bed the best thing we did was to get her out of there. Dont get me wrong I still like Park ridge but not lawn Care on the third floor oh no no no no

2022-06-01I have had 2 knee replacements at Unity one last June and one this past May 2022. My Doctor, Dr. Michael Klotz does his surgery at Unity. Both times at Unity my care was the best I have ever experienced at a hospital. The nurses and everyone else work at very professional and caring level. I was very comfortable during my stays and all of my needs were attended to with urgency and care. Top notch hospital.

2022-02-08Worst experience ever. Hope I never have to bring a loved one there again. The hospital staff stole personal possessions that were registered at the time of admittance. I hope these doctors and nurses get treated the same way they have treated their patients. Aside from a few caring nurses..The administration who have made the rules to have no visitors for covid patients deserve to die alone someday.ive had several clients needing to be hospitalized and Ive redirected them to strong.

2022-07-09I was in and out of there very quickly. The nurse and xray tech were wonderful. I understand they are short providers but mine didnt even teach me how to use crutches or how to put my aircast on for my ankle. I feel like I should have been given more verbal education rather then just handed some papers and sent on my way.

2022-04-13Got T-boned in an accident hours prior and came here for treatment. Got rushed through the usual checkin to be placed on a bed in a hallway for hours. Other than billing and an ekg technician. No nurse came to my aid. I turn over to see the staff cackling and chit chatting about their lives. Appalled and Frustrated with my experience, I got dressed and went to a different hospital. No sense of empathy or regard for patients in need.

2021-12-16My ED visit on 12/12-12/13 was the most horrific experience I have ever had in an ED! Let me start by saying my mother in law was a nurse for more than 60 years at RGH and my niece just graduated and is now a LPN. I have the utmost respect for nurses and how difficult and demanding their job can be. But the nurse that I had this past weekend was the most unprofessional, uncaring and demoralizing person I have ever met in the medical field. In reading my patient summary I read at least 3 false statements that she had made that time stamped text messages prove were lies. The PA I seen was very compassionate and caring but when in an ED as most are aware a nurse is your primary caregiver and since this is the type of person Unity staffs I would not recommend this ED especially if you have a loved one who is unable to verbalize any abuse they may under go there.

2022-02-14I swear Unity Hospital is trying to Kill my mother well and my father for that matter too. There is no communication between doctors and nurses. Continually giving meds that are not working and causing more problems for mom and giving the meds incorrectly to my Dad. This is NOT a hospital to take the elderly to. I could go on but lack of time. I would prefer 0 stars but it would not let me post that

2022-02-08Please get actual security with brain cells when directing people at the emergency entrance. I was in active labor and went through the emergency entrance to walk to L&D and I was basically interrogated. I can barely even walk, I was crying in pain saying multiple times that I’m in labor and have to go to L&D. The guy just didn’t get it. Could not comprehend, kept thinking I was a visitor. Kept cutting me off saying I had to go to the front entrance. After about the fifth time saying I was going to l&d, I just walked away. I think he finally caught on.
