Mostly a positive experience. I will say anyone applying for the PhD in psych that you have to go through their MA program first and once done there’s 0 guarantee of actually getting into the PhD. This year they also moved the internal PhD deadline from February to November with a week’s notice that I had to actively seek out to confirm. Since I have my MA already from another school this aspect of the experience left me very disappointed and I must now apply elsewhere and start all over to finish a PhD…

This school spends so much money on marketing instead of their students. The only good thing going for them is the school’s location, everything else is below the standards. Most of their professors don’t care about their students and have big ego. The New School needs to put students first. That’s their bread and butter. Students are going to do organic marketing if they like u and they will give back years after graduation. Students are the investment. I regret going there, but I only stayed because I was already too deep in the program and was afraid from losing what I already spent of time, money, and effort. 🚽

Students are great, although evidently... some professors need to be fired. And are teaching there because of money, not out the passion to do so. Otherwise, great location and atmosphere for designers and artists.

There are some really good teachers here interested in your academic and occupational life, but what more, that you live a good life.Matthew Jensen is not one of these, but a conceitful artist whom sold out for self image and pleasure at others detriment. Jensen will condescend you while speaking to others, diminishing your confidence and then condescending unto others while speaking to you. Jensen is disloyal, he will be noncommittal, then take one side seemingly for you, then surprise you with betrayal, but placate until he feels he has advantage. He is domineering with art colleagues and friends alike. Once my Buddhist friend, Jensen sold at a Buddhist monk which forsook his path by chain-smoking, oversexualizing a collegiate population, encouraging marijuana usage silently, implying polyamory with in gay relationships, and politically manipulating college administration. He also tries working under the radar scheduling unchastity amongst youth and old age alike within the gay population attempting spreading self-serving viral ideas with what he calls a mushroom cloud. Jensen also does not respect Chastity within clergy members within religions and his overly critical nature will stunt your growth intellectually spiritually and religiously. Feigned compassion. The only way I could be incorrect is if he is possessed in his sleep. He facebooked my mother after being out of contact several years. He blamed me for his poor relationships after being out of contact several years wishing ill health, poor success and bad fortune.Everett Green, Gabriel Gottleib are a couple good ones truly believing in helping the individual ethically reach transcendent understanding, though I think Gottleib is in Ohio.

My daughter was excited to be accepted to this college and made arrangements with admissions, well in advance, to come and sit in on a class and then do a tour of the school. We flew all the way from San Diego to New York for this. This cost me 2 airfares of $950 each, plus 3 nights of hotel accommodation in New York, which is not cheap. Not to mention the cab fares, etc. And the three days I had to take off work.We were told to be there at 11.30 am. We arrived early and checked in. We were told someone would walk her to the class at 11.30 am. At 11.35 am I had to remind them we were there and they started scrambling to find her a class to sit in on!At 11.45 someone came and walked her the the class she was to sit in on. It was a writing class - she was expecting to sit in on a modern art class, which she had told them by email several times and at check in was her interest. The person who walked her to the class pointed it to her and left. The class was to start at 11.55 am. No-one, not a student or a teacher, showed up and so there she sat in the empty classroom not knowing what to do or where to go.We went back to admissions at 12.15 pm. The guy there kinda apologized and said he could put her in another day, even though he knew we had come all the way from San Diego. I explained this would not be feasible. He then came back and said she can go sit in on a class at 1.55 pm. Except she had a tour of the school scheduled (which they had organized) at 2.00 pm and now she had to choose. She chose the tour.I really think that if they are trying to recruit out of state kids with GPAs of 4.4, at $65,000 a year tuition, they could be a little more prepared, organized and respectful. The tour itself was OK. The girl was knowledgeable, but very exhausted and had a very soft voice that no-one could hear.

Excellent Program at The New School. Plenty of courses and concentrations to choose from, faculty advisors are very helpful offering guidance as you develop your self-designed program. The International Field Program offers students hands-on experience working with diverse organizations and provides practical field experience through various work with NGOs, IOs, and government as well as local agencies.
