Easily the best dentist I’ve ever been to. Incredibly professional, friendly and knowledgeable. They actually care about educating you on your options for oral care and take the time to listen to your concerns. Additionally they’ve gone the extra mile to make sure their office is safe and comfortable during COVID.
The first 3 visits went horribly, but after my last review, the practice immediately contacted me, apologized, and helped me schedule an appointment with one of their best dentists. My 4th visit went well and it was a very different experience. The orthodontist spent a lot of time fine-tuning the retainers so that they would fit my teeth better, which I really appreciated because when I tried them on, I had no trouble putting them on or taking them off! On top of that, they made me a spare just in case. I’m happy to say I finally got good retainers.Later, one of the owners came to also apologize for what happened. He also walked me through some of the possible reasons why my filled tooth was hurting. They then had an endodontist come examine my tooth and, after a series of tests, told me that it looked fine but to come back in a while to see if it gets better/worse. I really appreciated their efforts and sincerity.All in all, this time, everyone did their best to help me and make me feel comfortable. I was grateful to receive the great dental care I had hoped for from the very beginning. I think this practice has a lot of potential and the people who work here are dedicated and well-meaning, I’m just sad that all those mistakes were made before getting to this point. I am glad that I gave them another chance because I can honestly say, I was impressed. In fact, if the recent visit is a sign of what’s to come, I would be happy to continue going there.
Would not recommend unless you want to spend a fortune for poor work. I went in for a cleaning and had to get cavities filled. 2 days after my visit, my fillings fell out after flossing. Went back in to have it repaired and again a few days after the 2nd visit the replacement also fell out. After a third trip they finally got it correct but not after drilling my teeth multiple times. Would not recommend.
My son is always in great hands at Upper East Smiles! Jordan saw Dr. John Yoo and he was awesome with him, not easy to have 6 teeth extracted, he made him feel so at ease! Dr. Jennifer is also amazing at making him feel at ease. All who Jordan has seen here are great!! :)
As someone who never reviews anything publicly, I felt this one was necessary:How happy was I? Im writing this hours after my first experience with any dentist in a decade.The entire staff of professionals -from the moment I walked in through the seriously damaged tooth being extracted by Dr. Ko (with NO pain)- was outstanding.Wish I had this type of care in life earlier/all of my medical experiences. We all deserve care this kind and professional.
I had some issues and needed to see a periodontist, a dentist, and hygienist over a short period. The entire staff was very professional and ensured that I had comfortable and pain free experiences. I am deeply grateful and appreciative to Dr. Chung, Dr. Smart and Lydia for their amazing services.
Upper East Smiles is the best dentist that I have been to. Everyone is very welcoming and friendly. Dr. Chung and the dental hygienist are both very personable and kind. They dont try to persuade you to do anything you dont need or dont feel comfortable with. I never have any discomfort when going in for a cleaning, and Dr. Chung always walks through what he is doing, so youre aware of what is happening at all times. Best dentist and staff in New York!
I just had amazing visits at Upper East Smiles and I love my new smile! Office looked extremely clean and modern, which is not what you often see from a dental office in the city and staff seemed friendly.Dr. Chung did my initial exam and cleaning and he was extremely knowledgeable and thorough with the explanation and answered all of my questions.Then, Dr. Smart, their cosmetic dentist, did two rounds of whitening and also did cosmetic veneers for me which I am in absolute love with!I highly recommend this place and will definitely bring in my entire family as they also have pediatric dentist and orthodontist.
This place is great. Beautiful office with state of the art equipment.I saw Dr. Smart for my general check-up and Dr. Chung for my periodontal needs. Both of them are very thorough and knowledgeable.Ive had a hard time finding good dentists in this city, but these guys are genuine and down to earth. I didnt feel pressured or forced into any treatment. They sat down with me and worked with me to figure out the best course of treatment for my particular case and were able to explain things in a way that I could understand.10/10 would recommend to anyone.

Given the abundance of fabulous reviews, for a second I thought not to leave one myself but you know what? you deserve yet another one.Ive been here twice so far: once for a general check-up/cleaning and another visit due to an excruciating pain in one tooth. I had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Chung, Dr. Pang, and Dr. Smart, all of whom were attentive, courteous, and knowledgeable. Initially, I was a little skeptical of meeting different doctors but now Id be open to see any other medical professional here.This place is very well-maintained; as soon as you walk in, you can feel a sense of cleanliness and will be welcomed by smiling receptionists. Then a hygienist will accompany you to the treatment room and kindly assist with the initial set-up and X-rays.The only minor complaint I had came up during a scaling procedure when a hygienist may have been so scrupulous that she went a bit too deep into the gum as to cause slight pain. As someone who is relatively insensitive to oral pain, I thought this was worth mentioning for the sake of improvement.Lastly, Id like to mention that they have an exceptional orthodontist who completely overhauled my dear friends most irregular set of teeth to perfection. She went through an Invisalign treatment that makes the braces hardly noticeable and gives her control over applying pressure on the teeth. It was seeing her progress that persuaded me to come here for the initial visit.Thanks for such a remarkable experience and I look forward to my future visits (hopefully not too many though)!
Let me tell you how much I love this place! I had my first appt today, and if there was a way to give this establishment a 100 stars, I would. My hygienist Jane was warm, sweet, and welcoming. She made me feel at ease and explain the reason behind my gum pain. Then comes in the sexy Dr. Lin..lol He didn’t make me feel rushed, check my teeth out and created a plan to combat my gum pain. I am so glad I found this place. Thanks to all the positive precious reviews!
Upper East Smiles is the best. I have seen three different doctors here and they were all excellent. They work with you to find the optimal and most affordable care always. Staff is professional, kind and welcoming. Dr. Chung is always reasonable and accommodating. Now my entire family, including our four year old, comes here! Truly a wonderful place.
Amazing experience at Upper East Smiles! Staff was incredible and explained everything step by step. Dr. Loretta is such a kind dentist that clearly cares about you as a patient. She explains everything very carefully with a bright smile. I also got teeth whitening done and had great lasting results. The facility is super modern and clean!
More like Upper East Side Frowns. All of the staff was very nice and it is mostly for that that I am giving 2 stars.Had to go in 2 sessions and after the first had a more positive sentiment. The cleaning was fine and the filling replacement I was advised to get went smoothly.The return trip was opposite. The hygienist was very rough and my mouth hurt for weeks afterward. And after just a few days of finally feeling a reprieve, I am feeling pain again. Now it seems to be in the tooth that I needed to have my filling replaced.The search for a dentist continues!!

I have been extremely happy with upper east side smiles. I was looking for a new dentist as I am new to the area and am so lucky to have found this practice. It is very clean, modern and the staff is SO nice and pleasant. I had a bad experience with my previous dentist and have very sensitive teeth/ receeding gums. Dr. Chung did a perfect job on my gum surgery while also being caring and gentle on my sensitive teeth. He followed up with me multiple times after my surgery and is always available via email after the practice closes. I couldnt be happier with upper east side smiles and would reccomend them to everyone!!
I am incredibly pleased with the services I received at Upper East Smiles. I initially presented with a dental emergency and both Dr. Chung/Dr. Hsu saw me immediately and provided thorough/thoughtful advice. They followed up with me regularly to ensure my pain had resolved. Since then, I have had a lot of work done there and could not be happier with my outcomes. Good quality dental care is hard to find, and I would definitely recommend this practice to all my friends and family.
Ive had two gum surgeries done by Dr. Chung and both of these times he treated me with respect and kindness, he cares about the work he does and the patients he is working on. He explained how and what needs to be done, he made sure I was well numbed and comfortable to make the unpleasant surgery better for me. After the surgery was done he explained how to take care at home. Both my experiences with Dr.Chung were good he is very professional. I would recommend him to anyone.
I was a patient of Dr. Chungs a few years ago and am happy to report that I have had no issues with my gums since. Its been 6 years since my gum replacement surgery and everything looks and feels great - my dentist told me that there is no evidence that I ever even had the procedure done (and what a procedure it was!) So happy to see that this business is thriving!!! If I ever do have issues again, I know whose door Ill be knocking on.
My teeth, being genetically weakish, always demand more frequent care than others may. I have visited many dentists so far and I would definitively place Upper East Smiles as one of the best. I got upper left teeth fillings done by Dr. Hsu and also got the lower right wisdom tooth extraction done by Dr. Chung on the same day with no issues. Both doctors are kind, caring and skillful. The procedures were so smooth that I just watched Netflix comfortably while Dr. Hsu was doing drilling and filling.As for wisdom tooth, it was my fourth wisdom tooth extraction (the last one!) and it is the LEAST painful one! I got a follow up call from Dr. Chung one day after the appointment to see how I was doing and all.I strongly recommend Upper East Smiles to anyone whos looking for a great dental treatment in this area. You will not be disappointed!
Scheduled a cleaning and checkup here. Very friendly staff and office is very nice! No long waits, they took me on time. Clean, beautifully modern and well constructed office and rooms. Even had TVs with Netflix! Seem to have all services under one roof which I like. Glad I found my new go to dental office!
This has been one of the best experiences I’ve ever had at a dental facility. There were so many things I was impressed with. One of the most impressive was his shots technique to numb the area before he started the procedure. I didn’t feel any pain because of the technique. He slightly tugged on my jaw and pinched the area then gave me the shot. During the procedure he kept asking me questions to keep my attention from what was being done. I can’t say enough about the aftercare. I received at least 3 call after the procedure checking on how I was doing. This was by far the best dental experience ever. Great job and I would recommend Dr. Chung to family and friends in the future.

I love upper east side smiles (even if I dont like dentists). They are very accommodating with their appointments. Very punctual. I have never had to wait. They are also very attentive to my fear of all things dentistry and my allergies. Would definitely recommend!
I must say that my visits to Upper East Smiles have been truly exceptional on many levels, and I am obliged to write a review for the outstanding doctors who work here.Dr. Choi is an orthodontist who truly cares for her patients. Her consultation was very thorough, covered every possible scenario and explained the pros and cons of each treatment option.When I went to get impressions done for my orthodontic treatment (Invisalign), she had a very busy schedule but took an ample amount of time and care to make sure my impressions were taken perfectly to get the most effective aligners delivered.After she was finished, Dr. Choi thanked for my patience and proceeded to the far side of the room (there were 2 patient chairs in a big room) and changed the Netflix channel to play the Minion movie, because her next scheduled patient was a 7 year old child! As soon as the child patient walked in, she introduced herself to the child in a friendly tone and quickly made him feel comfortable in a setting that couldve otherwise been stressful.I was also scheduled to get my cleaning done that day. The office got unexpectedly busy from a sudden patient flow. So they arranged Dr. Chung (a periodontist who I was not scheduled to see that day) to perform cleaning for me right away, instead of having me wait a long time for it. Dr. Chung also took time out of his schedule to demonstrate the best way to maintain a good dental hygiene given my particular structure.Shortly after that, I met with Dr. Kamkar who went through my general dental condition in detail with me and explained her findings in a way that was easy to understand.All in all, I ended up seeing three specialists that day, got very thorough dental and orthodontic treatments with minimal waits in between. I highly recommend Upper East Smiles to anyone considering dental or orthodontic treatments in this area. You wont be disappointed!
Dr Chung is very attentive and caring in his approach. Which was relaxing in what can be an otherwise stressful experience. He gave me the options, the probable outcomes and how much each would cost. Its obvious he understands the concerns on a patients mind.Its really a great office as well - alot of cutting edge equipment that Ive never seen before in a dentists office.
I normally feel nervous about going to a dentist for any reasons. Dr. Chung is gentle, patient and respectful and has skills/knowledge and experience to make me feel comfortable. He takes time to explain politely and thoroughly all questions I have before and after treatment. I recommend Dr. Chung to my family, friends and anyone looking for a dentist in the city.
Really pleased with my visits to Upper East Smiles. They have a very friendly staff from the receptionists to the dentists. I had alot of things done, from cavities to root canal. And each procedure was done with the utmost care and communication about what they were doing.The office space is new with state of the art equipment.The TV on the ceiling with Netflix is a nice bonus!

Ive never had a good experience at a dentists office until I came here. Everyone was incredibly friendly and sincere, and offered very clear and detailed explanations about what was going on in my mouth. Plus, they have a tv with Netflix set up, so you can just lie back and watch your favorite show while they work away. Im no longer afraid to go to the dentist.
Dr.Chung is an excellent Periodontist. He is kind, patient and caring; especially for patients with that suffer from anxiety like me. He will go above and beyond to make sure that his patients are relaxed and comfortable. You will definitely leave his office feeling completely satisfied with his service. Yes! He is that good !
I go here for orthodontics and general treatment including cleaning and check up. The staffs and doctors have been accommodative and kind. My orthodontist Dr. Choi was very forthright in explaining pro’s and con’s of various treatments, been very attentive and now, I am into fourth month into the treatment period without having any issues. The office is very clean and new which I also like since I take sanitation very seriously.They also have Netflix on each chair which you can watch during the treatment.
I have a rare bone/blood cancer and sometimes do not clot-cannot sit in one position too long and have other issues. Dr Pang takes whatever time I need to take care of me comfortably. Due to major bone loss I cannot get implants but he has worked out a plan so I can look good.Besides this part he is gentle and thourough and I feel nothing. They have on demand tv/Netflix so I stay distracted while being worked on.If you need to go to a dentist-this is the best place to do it.The prices are really fair. I had a previous estimate of $50000 - this will be less than $15000 the way they have worked out the repairs.I am widowed and disabled so this makes a huge difference.

Do NOT visit this dentist. I was told I had 8 cavities and needed a root canal. I visited another dentist and was informed I only had 1 cavity and did not need a root canal at allFelt like the dentist office was only out to get more money.The dentists were very rough.Would NOT recommend and highly suggest finding another dentist.
The service is nice but the cost is crazily expensive!!!! I have a very good dentist insurance which covers $3000. However. They charged me $300 after my insurance for a cavity and $85 for tooth cleansing that supposed to be free. I have no idea why this place is so crazy. And they didnt tell me that the material is not covered by my insurance. I was so supprised after it. I would not recommend this place unless you are a billionion who doesnt care the cost. Its terrible place actually. Dont why the review is high. I guess because they are all rush people in upper east.
I believe Dr. Chung is an amazing doctor. I have had nothing but positive experience with Dr. Chung. He performed several surgeries for me and the quality and my recovery was quick and painless. 2022-04-08I work in the medical field- and with that perspective I’m confident to say that this is one of the most detailed practitioners I’ve ever seen- Dr. joy Ko is SO lovely. Detailed, professional, and took the time to explain everything. I am generally apprehensive to see the dentist and she really eased me. Great experience!!

2022-07-05The dental hygienist provides the best cleaning, thorough and consistent with every visit. I am happy with the cleaning. Dr. Loretta checks the health of my teeth and mouth, and gives easy to understand feedbacks on each checkup. And, the front staff, always, great customer service. I highly recommend UESmiles.

2022-04-19Dr. Joy has replaced 3 of my old fillings. She is very skilled, quick and efficient. The front desk here is the most coordinated and efficient I have experienced. As far as Dentists go, this is probably as painless as it gets!

2022-04-08I wish I had found this dentist office earlier! I have had a lot of bad experiences with dentists in NYC but Dr. Joy Ko is amazing. She doesn’t push any procedures that are not necessary and explains everything clearly. All staff is very competent and kind.

2021-09-16Love this place. I will never go to another dentist. The office is clean and beautiful. All the hygienists are great. Ive seen a few of the dentists, and they are all excellent. They take insurance, and the few times I needed cosmetic type work it has been reasonable or in line with anywhere else I would go. Highly recommend!

2021-04-07What a kid friendly dentist office! My five year old and I always go there to get a treatment done at the same time. My son feels comfortable and is even excited to go. Plus, I never get the aggressive sell from this office. At my last dentist, I was told that I needed to do a filling at every visit. At upper east smiles, they never push me to get something done while making me feel that my teeth are always taken care of. They are as nice and reliable as a dentist office can get!
