I received my four ghosts mantis, they are awesome. However I had to take of work to pay extra postage and pick them up before they got sent back. He did refund me shipping which I Appreciate. However the perfect mantis box wasnt as pictured and mantis and fruit flies can easily escape so I have it in another enclosure. He didnt respond to second message, Id order from him again maybe but have another mantis plug locally. Also box came super damaged no fragile or any care as to what was inside per USPS.
Despite a difficult time of year to order, the breeder and I managed to communicate and solve any issues that arose. Remember shipping winter time is toughDont recommend it! The fly cultures I got have needed almost daily culling into the fish tank 😂 remember to feed them fruits. The breeder has love and passion for these love bugs! Im so happy and love the mantids I ordered.
Dont buy from them. I went through their eBay store and received SIX dud eggs. Obviously a problem on their end with storage or shipping.Got no response bc the feedback window was closed so they didnt care on that end.Do yourself a favor and search US Mantis on the Mantids reddit page. Lots of bad experiences. Theyre garbage and seemingly dont care about the well being of the animals they sell.
PAY FOR THE BEST SHIPPING OPTIONJust got my order, it hasnt hatched yet so Ill be adding to this review once it does.I just felt I needed to balance things out a bit with some hard truths about the reviewers here.When I received my package, it looked like it had been used as a soccer ball, things were wrapped poorly and our Arizona heat really messed up a lot going on with the flies.Of course the first thing you should do if you are displeased is CONTACT THE COMPANY. As I wrote out my complaints I realized they were completely invalid. Why? Because I had thoughtlessly selected the cheapest shipping!! That is not USMANTISs fault, they even have an entire page dedicated to warning you about shipping (which I had read directly after making my order, oops).Had I ordered with the appropriate shipping, I see no complaints. It seems they fixed their smaller mantis enclosure design to prevent the escape of feeders and I really appreciate their ootheca coming ready to go on a stick!Lets all remember how terrible shipping has been period through any company during covid and try to always pay for the very best shipping when live things are involved.
I dont know where all these negative reviews come from. I placed my order and it promptly shipped the following Monday. I will update my rating when the mantis hatch (or dont) but the communication from the seller was great and everything arrived on time as scheduled.
Ordered a mantis and got the pre-shipment confirmation a day later. After a month with no updates, I emailed asking to cancel my order. I waited six days before emailing again asking for a response. They refunded quickly after that. After reading these reviews, Im really glad I did not receive an insect from them. Very sketchy.
At first it took a while for the mantis to be shipped out just because their were so many things going on but when he did ship they came a day earlier than expected. They arrived in very good condition and began to eat right way. Overall pretty good if you are willing to wait a little longer.

An actual scam, never gave us our mantis we ordered all the way back in august, it’s october now. sent just food and no mantis and said are we sure and realized he never sent one. said he’d send one immediately as our breed was going out of season and never did. had to order from else where after waiting another month for him to give us the mantis, it was suppose to be a birthday gift. the packaging for the flies was terrible as well, wasn’t even sealed properly so they were escaping and dying. waste of money we could of spent else where, and waste of time. since we waited so long for him to give us the mantis we paid for now we can no longer get our wanted breed from other sites as they are no longer in season. We love our baby that we bought else where but he isn’t what we planned on.
I ordered 3 mantises and fruit flies. I never got an email saying when they would be shipped or when they would arrive, so I was not home when they arrived and weather was cold. Also, the fruit fly larvae were coming OUT of the holes in the lid so I had to relocate them. Disgusting. The mantises were fine but one was an L4 when I ordered an L2/L3. The packaging sucked and the tiny mantids could have easily been hurt or killed.
I am wishing that I had not tried to order my Mantis from this company. I am an amateur bug keeper so maybe a more experienced person would know to not use US Mantis. Initially, everything seemed fine with my order. I spent a lot of time picking out which mantis I wanted to purchase and my order came out to about $30. I got a friendly email explaining that my order was confirmed and that I should reach out to the owner if I had any questions. So far, so good. I waited patiently for a month without receiving my mantis. I figured shipping can be complicated with live animals so this might be normal. I emailed the contact included in that previous email and received a response a few days later saying that my Mantis would be shipped soon and that bad weather was the cause of the delay. I waited another month, and still no mantis. At that point I sent multiple emails and tried to call the company. The company phone number sent me to voicemail every time, and I never got any emails back. I will definitely not use US Mantis again because my money was completely wasted and I can’t get in touch with someone to fix the issue or get a refund.
I made an order for 2 mantis sacs on August 10th and still have not received it. It is now Oct 14th. I have checked to see when it would be shipped 3 separate times and they responded with either this week or next week. I requested for a refund twice and they have not responded. I still have not received my refund.
Just dont buy from this person. Yes, some people have gotten their mantises safely and on time but so, SO many people have never been sent anything, have been sent the wrong species and have been overcharged. He hardly ever replies to emails and when he does, hes incredibly rude and unprofessional just because you want to know whats happening. Please go check out literally any Facebook group about mantises and youll see that there will be multiple people who this guy has scammed. If youre going to get an animal then please do your research about who youre getting them from, there are plenty of reputable people who sell mantises for good prices if you just look.
I ordered a mantis and recieved it within a week, they tell you when your purchasing that they wait till the following Monday or Tuesday to ship so it will not be stuck in a post office during the weekend because shipping live insects is stressful to your animal and if not done correctly could result in a dead arrival. The seller also states that if weather is above 90 degrees or below 40 that they will not ship because until the temperature is safe, they also state that if the mantis is in molt they will delay shipping because if the mantis falls during molting it is usually always fatal. So needless to say check your weather before ordering and be patient. Im giving 5 stars because Im satisfied and very happy and would like to start clearing up all these mixed reviews for this particular seller.
I placed an order for a mantis and received a pre-shipping email but never received any information after that. I attempted to contact them several times with no response. After being patient for over a month with to replies or extra info from them I finally asked for a refund which they were very prompt about, which just goes to show I was being ignored when I asked about my order. Dont order from this site.
Their website says to check the weather forecast before placing an order, it also says they will check the forecast. Yet they waited until the weather forecast showed freezing temperatures to ship the mantises. And now usps says the package is arriving late. Thanks usmantis! And thanks for responding to my email! One thing is for sure, theyre not getting anymore of my money.
DO NOT PURCHASE FROM THIS STORE - My wife spent $60 on a Christmas mantis for my 8 year old bug-loving daughter. We did not receive it before Christmas or ever. We sent multiple emails to no avail. My daughter’s birthday was in March so my wife asked me to buy her a mantis. Apparently she told me not to buy from US Mantis but I didn’t hear that part. So, I purchased $130 worth of bugs and supplies and expedited shipping. A week later I called to make sure everything would arrive before my daughter’s birthday. Craig answered the phone. He apologized and said the weather had been too cold. He said he would send it out ASAP with something extra for the birthday girl. Nothing ever showed up. Called and emailed for refund. Still nothing. We are out $190 and a daughter who has been let down twice.
I ordered 2 ghost mantis and one was dead on arrival. I contacted the owner Craig Baker for a refund per his Live Arrival guarantee. After some difficulty, I got him to honor his own policy. In February, Craig Baker stated he would ship me a new mantis. He never did, despite repeated calls and emails. I also never received a refund and it is now June. I have reported this business to the BBB of NY.
Ordered a mantis last week. Was shipped yesterday to Texas, which I received today. Mantis was well packed for delivery... even had a couple cooling packs to keep it from getting too hot. Mantis was healthy and alert. My entire experience was awesome with US Mantis. I’m surprised to see so many bad reviews though.... very happy I took the chance to order from them.
I ordered more then $130 Canadian worth of mantises and containers, and after reading other reviews I wanted to refund it. I sent the owner numerous emails and messages on Instagram with no reply.If you made the same mistake as me by buying from this seller and want to refund it talk to the staff on shopify. They are the platform he is using for his shop and the customer service at shopify can help you find options to refunding your purchases. You will need to wait a bit but its a much more helpful option.Overall Usmantis is nothing but poor customer service, products that dont arrive and not worth your time or money.If you did what I did and purchased something without seeing the reviews, contact shopify they will help you
Do not, I repeat do NOT buy from this seller! I bought a Heterpoda from USmantis on a Sunday and it was supposed to ship out that Tuesday and it never shipped.. Here we are a month PLUS later and he won’t return my emails or calls. After weeks of emailing and calling, leaving my info for him to contact me still no response. I’ve requested a refund from my bank. Good riddance!
DO NOT order from this man!!!! I wish I would have read these reviews in advance. It would have saved me a lot of hassle.Ordered an orchid mantis, cage, and food from him 2 weeks ago. Item never shipped, so I asked where it was. He let me know it was too cold to ship and I would have to wait a week.Flash forward a week, he texted me and emailed that my order was waiting to be picked up by USPS. However, the only thing he ever did was create a shipping label. The item was never received by USPS.I texted him, emailed, and tried to chat via his website. No response for days.I went to his website this morning and lo and behold, it is now a dead link. He is a scammer and I will be reporting him to as many places as possible.
Horrible customer service. Shipped my mantis to the wrong address and showed no compassion for care for the living thing that had died. I tried to contact them before shipment and got no reply. The system they use to warn you of delivery failed and showed the wrong delivery date. It was also shipped on a Wednesday when the website says it tried to avoid this for the exact reason that happened to me. When I sent a photo of the dead Mantis he replied It’s a gonner it’s dead with no offer to make anything right or condolences. The website makes this operation sound very kind and loving but my experience with the manager through email was anything but.
Without exaggeration, the worst service Ive ever dealt with. Ordered February 1st, called and emailed many times over the following months with no response. Finally in mid April he answered my phone call and shipped out my order. But he had put the wrong address on the package and it was returned to sender. So now, about 100 days after I placed my order, Im still trying to either get my bugs or my refund!Oh, and I left a 1-star review on their website because of my experience, and the next day my review was deleted. In other words, the 5-star reviews on the website are a total fiction. Really wish I had read the google reviews instead...
They totally sent us the wrong kind of mantis. Totally. Wrong. Dont order from here. Just dont do it. Theyll take your money, never answer your emails, either send it looking sickly and almost dead or apparently not send it at all. They never took the time to answer my emails. I emailed them for DAYS. Were lucky our mantis made it here alive, seeing as the packaging was a death trap with zero holes or labels.
I ordered from here a year ago and everything went great besides the lack of communication. My bf and I decided to order again, this time over 200.00 in bugs. Got an email thanking me for purchasing again and another one saying my order was being processed, a few weeks later I decided to email him on why my order was still processing, no response, I waited another week, sent a 2nd email, no response, sent a 3rd email and received an email immediately saying that the email address I was originally messaging can no longer be found. I messaged him on fb and he responded saying hed look into the situation, few days later I asked him again and he said Ill look into this today it had now been over 1 full month of playing tag with Craig so I called my bank reverse my transaction, fast forward another full month and I received a box with 2 stick bugs, one missing legs, then I get an email asking to review all the bugs in my order when I didnt even receive any of those bugs. Not too sure what exactly happened with my order.
PLEASE READ. THIS GUY WILL SCAM YOU.I purchased two orchid mantids and several supplies from them back in februrary 2019. I have not received them, the order was marked as complete but no tracking number and no response either. my account was also deleted for some very suspect reason. I have spoken to other insect breeders and they all told me the same thing. He will run away with your money. I wasted over $150. Please report him to the FTC for fraud. He has been doing this and getting away for it for long enough.
I received my mantis with no problem what so ever but I would recommend another mantis shop over this one due to the many varying reviews. The wait to see if I would get my mantis at all was very nerve racking. My personal experience was pretty good but I would not risk another purchase.
Bought a leaf bug almost 6 months ago. Sent multiple E-mails, multiple phone calls and nothing. I got a response email asking for the order number, when I gave it I got no response and its been months. Do not buy from US Mantis Im surprised Shopify supports scams like this one.
If I could give them 0 stars I would this is the worst company I’ve ever ordered from! They scam you of your money send you one email of “pre shipment confirmation” then never send you anything. I tried contacting them multiple times over a span of two months through phone and email and never got a response or my mantis. Never order from them!!
DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS COMPANY! Ive been trying to get a refund for $56 worth of insects I purchased in March. Its been two months, Ive been reaching out every other day in the hopes Ill hear back. It is *baffling* to me that this guy is still in business, as its pretty obvious hes unresponsive, and has scammed other folks out of their money. I (like someone else who left a review here) also left a review on their website, only for it to be deleted the day after. WILD.Obviously, the business owner is up and operating, because I got the freaking NEWSLETTER but have not heard a response back about my order. Looks like theyve posted on twitter and instagram, too? Cool.Reporting this dude to the BBB. Theres absolutely no excuse to be getting money from folks and to *not* respond to them for months. Again: absolutely baffling.
Payed for expedited shipping to ensure that they arrive safely on a monday over a week ago. Sent an email to inquire of the status but I have received no reply in over 24 hours. Very unprofessional.Edit: They did follow through so I am changing my raiting from a 1 to a 4. I had tried different methods to contact them and it worked out, though I hope they create a better system for managing orders and communication in the future. If you order from here, make sure to check the weather in NY and the shipping location and follow up by using the messaging system on the website. I am glad that they righted the situation and immediatly mailed my order afterwards without trouble.
I bought a Heteropoda Davidbowie from this website two or three months ago as a gift for my little brother and delayed shipping for a few weeks the owner was responding after numerous emails from me regarding my order but just to tell me that all his spiders had died because he was sick and someone was harassing him so I had to delete my emails or posts and I would get a refund I waited and searched for any information on my refund and couldn’t find anything a few days later he tells me he couldn’t refund me because his website wasn’t working and to talk to my bank so bottom line DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM THIS SITE it’s a scam for money I’m mean who does that ? especially if you’re running a business and all their products are listed for sale
Do not buy from here I recieved dead mantises and they are not willing to replace the bugs I ordered nor did they refund my money after I asked. They are crooks total frods. Going to contact my banks frod department I strongly recommend not buying from this place ever
Absolutley terrible experience. Payed 110 dollars for stick bugs that never came. Have tried contacting customer service several times over the span of several weeks and they send you right to voicemail and now Im in the middle of trying to dispute the payment with Visa to get my money back from the con artists here. Do not buy from here, just burn a 100 dollar bill and youll get more satisfaction
This website is a scam. I ordered in January 2019, and it is now June 2019. I have not received my purchase. The people have never responded to my emails. The phone numbers are disconnected. They even created a shipping label and sent me the email, and never shipped anything. I guess they did this to get me to try and buy more stuff.
WARNING Ive been keeping herps most my life and the one time i dont research a company before ordering from them and i get scammed this company stole 65$ from me i ordered insects in July its now September never got them and they wont respond to any of my attempts to contact them
Ordered a ghost mantis and a cube, I ordered this on the 21st of November, it is now been almost a month and after doubling the price of my order with express shipping I have yet to hear from them, horrible experience, I have spoken to Craig a few times and all those times he says that something is wrong with the weather and he will undoubtedly send it the next week, but never sends it, the mantis was supposed to be a Christmas gift, almost 70 dollars wasted because of this companies lack of communication and false promises.

2021-12-21I actually think that this is a very professional business that gives you what you pay for. I have bought from usmantis 2 times, each order including objects and insects. I received all the insects in perfect condition, along with all the care products. The terrarium I bought the first time was very nice and kept my mantis perfectly. Just today I received my order of gigantea stick bugs and couldn’t be happier! I have never sent an email to the store owner, but I have gotten shipment updates through email. PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THAT THE SHIPPING OPTION YOU CHOOSE IS A CRUCIAL PART IN HOW YOU RECEIVE YOUR PURCHASE, ALIVE OR DEAD!! I have gotten everything in a timely manner, alive and well. I don’t know where the negative reviews came from because I’ve had a completely opposite experience.

2022-02-04I order my blue bottled spikes from here and never have an issue. Shipping is always fast. Last order placed in November of 500 spikes lasted me until end of January. I would say 80% of them hatched. The last few didn’t because I had them in the fridge so long, but that’s to be expected. I only order my feeders from here.

2022-05-26Ive had good experiences with this company and didnt want to believe all of these bad reviews, but my most recent experience with them lives up to their terrible rating here. I placed an order with them, received a shipping number over a week ago, havent seen any tracking updates (UPS still hasnt received the shipment). Ive contacted US Mantis, been ignored, asked for my order to be cancelled and was told the package was shipping that same day. It wasnt. Contacted them the following night asking why it still hadnt shipped, was ignored. Contacted them AGAIN today asking to cancel the order. This place isnt a professional business and CANNOT follow through with the business transactions they make. Spend your money with them at your own risk.

2021-10-30After reading the reviews I was very worried!! Although we never received any notifications or emails answering my questions we did get the mantis we ordered about a week later. Happy to say it is very lively and ate right away.

2022-06-09I recently placed an order last sunday for a giant australian mantis in the latest cycle its available for (I believe LV4/5). We received no confirmation email after a few days so we called them and the guy didnt seem like he really cared. We recieved our order today but its a tiny little thing in its 2nd stage. We ordered a different size but the guy couldnt be bothered to pay a little attention and ship us what we paid for, which was more expensive than the listing for what we received. Buyer beware youre in for a scare.

2021-05-17Absolutely horrible. Was slow to ship, and to respond to my emails about the delayed shipping. Told me it would go out the next day, it didnt go out for over a week later, and it took me emailing them multiple times- including the last couple emails when I REQUESTED A CANCELLATION AND REFUND, which they IGNORED and sent me the products anyway. The blue bottle spikes arrived completely dead. I sent an email requesting that if theyre going to send me stuff I no longer want anyway, give me a refund for the flies which arrived dead, which they ignored. They do not care about the customers time or satisfaction, they only care about your money. Dont use them

2020-09-26Ordered on 9/17/20 - shipped the following week. They gave updates on shipping status and have plenty of avenue for communication.I believe the older reviews from last year was when the person was hospitalized, but fortunately, he is well and seems to be active again as of this review.Wishing him and his Mantids good health!

2021-05-12I purchased an ooth and fruit flies. Shipping was done well and my fruit flies arrived alive and in good condition. I was not given any care instructions for the ooth, and I was told it would hatch within 6 weeks when I contacted them about that information. At 7 weeks, the ooth still had not hatched and no one will return my emails regarding this. I spent a lot of money both on the ooth and overnight shipping and have nothing to show for it and nothing to feed my flies to.
