Visited on today 5/6/21, to get se help.with sorting out my claim. Fue to Covid the office hrs are 9am to 1pm and all interactions are via video chat with the exception of reception. Save yourself the trip and book an appt on line its would be the same thing.

After reading some comments I felt it was my duty as a fellow veteran to be transparent as well. What a horrible experience! Where do I start... smh. So I live all the way out in Yonkers so I had to drive all the way down to the only vocal rehab available for me at a great distance. A place thats so inconvenient along with a regular va 800 number where the wait time is ages, was my first red flag. This shows us vets they do not want to be bothered or even spend money on a call service area. Upon arrival for appointment, I was waiting for an hour pass my appt time and wondered either I was not going into someone else appt time or we ALL had the same appt time. There were no chairs waiting at the front door, mind you, most of us are disabled veterans. Myself with back and bilateral foot problems along with disc problems. No chairs even when we went upstairs to fill out a packet, we waited in line. Once I spoke to a representative, I have never in my life felt so offended and spoken to in a condescending way. My counselor was sort of in training but her mentor was horrible. She spoke as if she was better than me and made better choices in life than me. ( Vanessa Carlton - A Thousand Miles song in my head smh). If I cannot call the office itself shows me a lot about helping us vets. Try to avoid this place at all cost, literally and figuratively.

I walked into this office to simply ask about getting a copy of my DD-214 or a letter of service. 15 minutes later I was given 2 copies of a Letter of service and the application form all highlighted to get a DD-214. They answered all my questions and were extremely helpful. I was satisfied with my visit. I didn’t call them, I just walked in.The NY division of Veterans Affairs on Chambers was completely useless to me. They wasted 20 minutes of my time just to tell me they couldn’t give me a letter of service and to go online to get a DD-214.I’ll be back if I need something else.

Not sure about other offices in this building but the Vocational Rehab counselors are very unreliable. They reassure you that they will pretty much have your back and keep their end of the contract as long as you keep yours. Except! They really dont have to meet the promises theyve made or information they have provided to you because there isnt any consequences for their mistakes... I have only been in the program for two months and I am already dissapointed. My emails never get answered unless I call (after waiting at least two weeks for a response). I was told incorrect information that made a huge difference in my studies and I found it difficult to trust the counselor that was provided to me. He was very uninformed and just pretty much winged the process... I should have stayed with the gi bill honestly. I had more resources and more control over those resources. Rather then having to BEG my counselor for help. Its disgusting.

I filed the appeal for my disability claim and it will be expedited, which may be 3-6 months. I am just happy that the services are available. Slow service, yes; I hope that the system improves for further generations of veterans.

Phones never answered. Wait time is ridiculous. Parking sucks. WOW! Has the DAV changed. Theyve gone from helping the average vet to turning them away. There was a time when they genuinely cared about vets. Now it appears theyre the ones were fighting against.

Staff was friendly and helpful, offered information that I didnt think to ask to help me with my situation, she even helped me fill out the whole form knowing that Im bad with VA paperwork. Very pleasant visit and honestly I didnt expect it would go so smoothly. Glad that they run this place so nicely!

I would give a zero if I could. I simply need to talk to a person and instead I get more recordings and then get hung up on by it. If I could find my answer online I would, but its not possible. Everything with the VA is difficult.
