I bought some maple and oak lumber to build some cabinets. The yard picked out the order and brought it to my truck. All the lumber was was perfectly straight with no cupping. Fantastic quality!
Contacted Valentes at 8am this morning regarding a mulch delivery. They were at my house by 9:00. The price for 6 yards of mulch delivered was more than fair. Their response time to my online inquiry and delivery of the mulch was beyond my expectations. I highly recommend!!
Purchased seasoned wood from them and it was definitely not seasoned but charged seasoned prices. I’d say that’s dishonest. When I called they claimed it has been “seasoning from 6 months to a year” but also said they just split it before delivery (you’re supposed to cut, split, stack so it seasons). I even tested it with my moisture meter and most the pieces were over 20% (shouldn’t burn anything more than 20%). Will not return.
After contacting multiple lumber yards to find the edge/back molding for my home i was unable to find any businesses. After conceding that i would have to make it myself i search for mills near by and found Valente. i showed the molding to the man at the desk and he walked me to a building and got me the exact match and the quantity i needed. Will definitely use again...
Great quality and value. Lumber here is not the junk you get at Home Depot or Lowes. Bought a bunch of 2x10x8s for doing raised garden beds - was very pleased with the cost and quality.
Customer service, is good. Seasoned firewood? Hardly. Maybe a third of it is decent enough to put in my fireplace. Looks like its scrap wood instead of processed firewood. Not happy.
I have to say that my experiences with all the people at Valentes has been more than positive. I totally rebuilt an over 200 year house in Rensselaer NY and needed all types of unusual rough sawn lumber for the project. What they didnt have they were usually able to fabricate. Special orders take time, but they always tried to have the materials when I needed them and went out of their way to help. I am working on my next project and go to them now. I can only recommend them. The quality is excellent and the prices are very reasonable.
We had a few issue with an lumber order not getting cut for us. They did however keep a few guys late one night to get us a partial order so we could work the weekend.
Great customer service at fair prices. But most of all the wood has beautiful grain. Also the mulch is very nice and pure
Met a guy who fell of a lift and hurt his neck. Guy said there’s been at least 37 deaths at the place. For a place that caught on fire by itself, you think they’d fix their stuff. Horrible place

2022-03-19Picked up a bunch of rough cut hemlock for raised beds and other outdoor projects. The boards from Lowes or Home Depot are like a toothpicks compared to this. Wish I had come out here sooner.Staff was very helpful with loading and even backing up my rented trailer for me since I had clearly not done that in years. Price was very reasonable especially considering the state of the world right now.It is a drive in style lumber yard so be wary of mud and holes and such. Amazing place though.

2022-02-10Went to Valente’s to purchase tiger stripe maple for a cabinet project and came away pleased with the selection and price. While there, also purchased about 200 BF of regular maple and poplar. Staff was exemplary in all areas that matter. Four stars because did not have wood as R/S which I prefer to planed.

2022-04-05Visited for the first time today on a recommendation and wasn’t disappointed! Matthew was very knowledgeable and helped me make the best choice for my project. Also the lumberyard hens made for a unique experience! Would definitely recommend!

2022-04-28I called to get a price on 75 5/4x6x16 foot pressure treated boards for a deck. Michael quoted me $23 and charge (I can’t remember the exact cents) each. He stated there were only about 50 in stock and he would have to call the supplier to see if the price would be the same for the next shipment. He called me back a while later and stated the price was the same. I asked him how the quality compares to what lowes listed as premium. He told me it was better quality. I made the purchase and paid in full. He then calls back a bit later to say that his supplier will not honor the same price and it would cost me an additional $250. I did cancel the order. He then mentioned that his supplier is the same place that supplies lowes and Home Depot. This makes no sense - he said he called the supplier prior to calling me back the first time. Also, is your quality better than lowes or does it come from the same supplier? I tried to stay local but something’s fishy.This is a reply to the comment from Valente’s below. You gave me a price, you collected my money, you sold me a product. You then called to say it was more expensive. That’s a classic bait and switch if you ask me. Then you word your response to blame me for not pressing you harder to stick to the price? You should have honored the sale you made with me- it should have been a non-issue. You can’t argue that what you did wasn’t wrong. It sure was As I said - something’s fishy

2018-08-13Ive used Valente Lumber to restore my house; they were able to mill matching wood siding for me as well as various trims and lumber. Super nice and always willing to help. I dont buy wood anywhere else!

The quality of the materials are top notch and the custom cuts are right on. Our family even purchases our firewood and landscape mulch every season. Its all wonderful. 2020-05-26AMAZING huge lumber mill & operation. A must visit to see one of Upstate NY true gems. Great customer service. Youll be awed just by visiting. Its really a jewel and probably historic lumber mill. They cut and match any need you might have as far as wood goes.
