Valvoline Instant Oil Change in other cities:
Needed to get my oil changed & didn’t feel like driving to Fishkill (that other place) so, I decided to stop by Valvoline in Poughkeepsie. I used to go there a long time ago but had an issue, long before Google, lol! Well I’m glad I gave them another try!! With COVID- 19 they now have a drive through!! I loved being in the mix of getting my oil changed! I watched as they all worked on my Tundra. I was definitely impressed! Jamerson, the Manager, was helpful in explaining to me what his crew of mechanics were doing for what I needed. They all knew exactly what to do! I will definitely be going back in another 5000 miles! Thanks guys! Now I’m ready for winter!
After having avoided this Valvoline for some time due to previous complaints, I (for some reason) decided to give them another shot since I needed an oil change and was in the area. NEVER again. My visit started out fine - a courteous crew member met me right away asking me what I needed, directing me, and explaining it would be a few minutes. Fine. 2 stars for that and that alone. After that it all went downhill. Right from the get-go, I explained all I needed was a conventional oil change. No inspection, no A/C service, nothing else. I understand its probably company policy, but they inspected EVERYTHING, wasting their time and mine - trying to sell me on lights, A/C service, wipers, you name it. I eventually gave in and let them sell me an air filter to appease them and get the show on the road. The entire time the crew members were mumbling instructions almost inaudibly (mask or not), bickering with one another, and straight up calling certain other crew members names and insults. I get it, everyone has bad days, but in a garage that requires customers to be present and interactive, get it together ladies and gentlemen. Not professional. The straw that broke the camels back however was towards the end when the topside crew members were looking around for something in my engine bay, and I noticed they had yet to replace the washer fluid port cap. The tech CLEARLY knew he lost it (he was looking all over and when another tech asked what he was doing he didnt reply, trying to hide his mistake from me). He then proceeded to act like everything was buttoned up and closed the hood, thinking I hadnt noticed! Are you kidding me?! Were you planning on finding that cap, or just letting me drive away without it? I asked. Oh, sorry he replied, fumbled under the truck for a bit, finally found it and replaced it. I was in shock. Completely unacceptable, unprofessional, and downright unsafe. Never again with these jokers.
I came in for a simple oil change. My go to mechanic couldn’t get me in and I decided to bring my car here. The assistant manager was aggressive telling me my car needed a lot of work (over $300 of work). No way my car needed this much work if I had just gone to my mechanic not even a month ago. She then began making rude remarks to customers around me about how knowledgeable she was and how I didn’t know how to take care of my vehicle. Last time I’ll be coming here for services.
Mom went in with car trouble. they said she needed a serpentine belt. turns out it didnt need a serpentine belt. these jokers took advantage of my mom. the good thing is that they gave her the belt and another mechanic saw that it was a very good serpentine belt. the real problem? the car only needed a new battery. one of the workers called me baby. yeah real professional. do your research before going to morons like these.
This guys at the beginning made us feel a little bit stressed because they keep telling loudly whatever theyre doing, but the result is good, we all are aware of what are they working on and they check everything on your car while you wait sitting inside your car for your oil change. My surprise is they do it in about 20 minutes.Considering Im walk-in, my experience here is good. They change my AC filters too.Im so lucky today.
The staff is friendly, but i went there for a routine oil change & my car was leaking oil the next day. this may not happen often with other customers & could’ve been an isolated incident, but personally, i don’t think i’d go there for an oil change again. especially considering it cost $86 (for full synthetic oil) which is a bit on the pricey side based on my experience
Just had a state inspection done here. Female with tattoos said I had a plate light out. Those light where working when I left my driveway, I checked everything. She charged me $16 for a tiny bulb. On top of that she was very rude. She needs better training. And Valvoline needs to stop ripping people off .
This was my first and very last time ever coming to Valvoline. I was tread so rudely and harassed by one of the employees. Went here with the hope of getting a state inspection, I called before hand and the phone message stated Youll never need an appointment!... what a joke. I asked a friend to go with me because I figured Id drop off my car, we parked in the very back, the shop was really vacant with only one car in the shop and 4 employees. The nice gentleman inside informed me I would need an appointment, and I couldnt get it done today, but asked if I wanted to make an appointment for another day. I said thank you, but I would have to go elsewhere.I went outside to talk with my friend and to see when I could bring it back so I could make an appointment.Out of no where a large burley woman screamed angrily at me across the parking lot Can I help you!??! I honestly didnt register that she was actually talking to me, she kept screaming at me asking if I needed help and I informed her (three times to be exact) that I did not need any help but thank you. She then screamed Are you here for an oil change!??! I said No Im here for another service, again thank you! I was getting irritated at this point because she would not stop screaming at me while I was clearly speaking to my friend. She then screamed at me Hey, then you need to leave!! And as she was saying that she pointed with her hands at the exit sarcastically. I said excuse me? Im here for a state inspection and was told I need to make an appointment, Im trying to see when I can come back, Ill leave as soon as Im finished, thank you. She is still saying all this across the parking lot mind you, she then said very sarcastically Oh great thanks! Later! and laughed rudely. At that moment I didnt want to make an appointment to come back, I honestly didnt feel comfortable leaving my car at this establishment, or even letting anyone from there, especially her, work on my car. My friend suggested Arlington Auto right up the road, they treated me kindly and most importantly professionally. I would never come back here or reccomend Valvoline to anyone after I was treated in this manner!
Great experience here today! Even on a busy Saturday my vehicle was taken in for service within 10 minutes. My oil change took about 20 minutes to complete, very reasonable considering how busy the location was today. The fella at the desk Tyler was very friendly and took his time explaining all the services my vehicle was eligible for, and mentioned the current buy one get one half off promotion which, if I had more time, I probably would have accepted. Tyler gladly gave me a printout of those services to review for next time. He also caught a very clogged air filter which was replaced for me on the spot for a very reasonable price. The fella changing my oil was also friendly and told me to have a nice day after showing me that my oil was clean and full. There was plenty of seating in the clean waiting area and restrooms readily available. I will definitely be back again!
Needed a quick oil change and got one at a great price. They staff was very courteous and knowledgeable. They have a new drive thru process where you dont leave your vehicle. I thought it was a great idea that you can see whats going on with your vehicle and it beats sitting in a boring waiting area!
Great service and nice people. I got instant service with about a 15 minute wait. They explained everything thoroughly that they saw with my car whether just to let me know everything was good or if I needed to replace something in the future. Definitely my new place to go to for my car while I’m here for college.
The workers are obnoxious scam artists trying to get you to upgrade to the most expensive stuff and lying telling you things are wrong with your car that arent! I was disgusted and will not be going back to that one. The best part about them is that they have a coupon for 24.99 conventional oil change.
They were pretty busy when we stopped by and they got through all the customers pretty quickly.Sucks that to pass inspection I had to pay $22 for the side bulbs that dont even matter. Im Not from here and I am wondering if those were even necessary. Never the less, the inspection has to be done so we had then take care of it. Anything you can take care of yourself before you take your car to any place for inspection, do it yourself!
Came in for an oil change. I was told that I had an oil leak from the engine gasket. Brought it to the dealer that I have my warranty with. They said that both the oil filter and plug were very loose. Valvoline Instant Oil sucks! Cost me over $100 to tighten everything and clean the bottom of my car.
Just amazing!!! Great service, fast and efficient, and a great price . Love that they are almost always offering coupons for you to save money.. I will definitely be going back to this location because on top of what I said they are all so welcoming and willing to answer any questions even if your not there for that work ... thank you
Just went there. The manger or person running the show was fantastic believe it was Done or Dan. Did his job while training a new female worker and supervising his crew all while never missing a beat. I stopped by on my way further up north and wished I lived closer as the service and professionalism is unmatched.
First time at Poughkeepsie Valvoline. First time Ive encountered stay in your car oil change. A nice experience! Very friendly staff and everything was handled competently. Of course they did try to sell me an air filter. I politely refused. Definitely a place I would return to.
I made a huge mistake. I dont know anything about cars and Valvoline takes advantage of it ! They charged me 44 dollars to replace a cabin air filter. When I got home and googled it, the filter itself cost 8 dollars and VALVOLINE CHARGES YOU 36 DOLLARS TO OPEN YOUR GLOVE COMPARTMENT AND PULL OUT AND SWITCH THE FILTER. If you can remove the charging cable from one phone and place it into another phone, you have the skills to work at Valvoline and save 36 dollars. If Valvoline was a person, Id punch them in the face.
I go here only to have my inspections done on my car. They work on a first-come first-serve basis. Which is handy for me so I can get in and out in time for work. Theyve been very up front and honest with me about what may be wrong with my car if it doesnt pass inspection. Beyond that, I do my own minor to moderate repairs and havent used their services for anything else.
I only gave 3 stars because I hadnt planned on spending$50.plus dollars for an oil change but he told me my mom had previously used this expensive oil so the price doubled. My $19.99 oil change coupon wasnt valid, I could only get$15.00 off, so instead of$67 some odd dollars it was a little over$50.I just felt a bit schistered....if you know what I mean, or am trying to say.The overall experience was very efficient and I was happy with that 😊, as now its a drive through! You never even get out of your vehicle!
Completely incompetent. Spent an hour and a half to get an inspection. I got in my car to see no sticker...they never completed inspection and couldnt provide the sticker (yet had no problem charging me for the inspection). Got refund after pointing it out, but a complete waste of well over an hour. Had to go to a Mavis down the road to get it done - another half hour, but they were fantastic. Would STRONGLY advise going to Mavis instead. Mavis has much less expensive oil changes as well.
Very high price for a simple conventional oil change. Always trying to sell you extra air filters, cabin filters and so on. They seem to get mad if you dont buy them, and mysteriously as soon as you pull out there seems to be a problem with your vehicle that you never had. One time I had no brakes when I pulled out and a busted brake line HMMMM!
Today (6/13/18) I brought my car here for a simple oil change. Everything went great until I was leaving the establishment. My car would no longer show me how fast I was going and had little to no pickup because it wouldn’t come out of first gear. I immediately turned around and brought it back and told them they did something, so they look it over and the assistant manger gets in my car and revved the engine until my car started to misfire!! Meanwhile my car never had any issues beforehand. Now my car is at the mechanic trying to diagnose whatever they messed up. I’ve filed a complaint and I am waiting to hear back from there company. Customers shouldn’t leave with there cars in worse condition then they came in. Bring your car anywhere else but here.
Got my oil changed on Friday by Monday every light on my dashboard came on. And when I went back to have it checked I sat and waited for over an hour and then they told me to go to advance auto to get it checked. Never had this happen with my car before and will not be returning to have my oil changed there again.
They say they are on a first-come first-serve basis. But yet they were waving cars around me to go ahead of me. Waited for 45 minutes and they still hadnt finished the two cars ahead of me. Will never go back there again prices are too expensive anyway and they always try and push things on you you dont need.
Went there today for inspection and I went in all lights were out in waiting area, went back out and spoke to a young lady, l said are you open and she said yes. I said all your lights are out inside no response from her only what can I do for you.I said I need a inspection she said we dont do inspections on sunday I said whatShe said around here nobody does, she said come back on Tuesday day after memorial day. Whats going on here people what happened to sevicing your customers Ive been coming here for over 10yrs.You just lost my businesses for ever. I went Arlington tire in 44 and they did my inspection no problem, goin there from now on.
Waited 30 minutes to get in, and once we did get in the oil change only took 20 minutes.. being a mechanic i knew They were going to try to up sell the oil change.. they tried to get us to buy 2 air filters and do a complete motor flush... the mechanic (Javier) also tried to get us to buy a battery from them using an old battery test recipe... we pulled into the shop at almost 1:30 the battery test was done at 12:50... and to make the experience so much better he had to ask us to count the change for him...
Went in for a quick oil change before a trip to Maryland. They tried to tell me my headlight was out (it wasnt,) that I needed a transmission fluid change bc the liquid wasnt clear (its not supposed to be,) besides the fact that I just had it done two months ago, and that I needed my air conditioning serviced with no explanation why, even though it works perfectly. When I was in there they tried to tell the woman ahead of me her headlight was out, too. She said they try to fix extra things every time she goes in. Im not going to let that happen because I wont be going in again. This was merely for convenience. I can pay almost $30 less at the Monro in Rhinebeck or $25 less at the one in Hyde Park.If this is your idea of a good business model Valvoline to run up your customers bills through bogus service add-one, Id rather go somewhere that respects my knowledge and money.
This particular location was not good. They try very hard to talk you into services that you do not need. I usually go to a different location and made the mistake of coming here. After being forced to pay for a complete synthetic oil change that they claimed was required, I called their customer service line and was told it was not. They refunded me the difference. Will go to Valvoline again, but NEVER this location.
DONT EVER go here to get your car inspected. I went and was failed for missing a tiny little plastic piece that holds my license plate light in place. Called every dealership in the area and since I have an older car that part has been discontinued and I would have to go to Jersey to get one from a vintage car parts place. Went to another auto place in New Paltz and my car passed.Awful service too. No help at all in directing me to where I could find the part that they had failed me for.Save yourself time and money and go somewhere else!!!

2022-04-29This Valvoline is drive in so I never have to exit the car. Being a Mom of multiples not having to exit the car and still get what I need done is HUGE. Second, everyone is always pleasant and personable. The men and women here never over sell the products, they are efficient and appear to love what they do. I especially enjoy the team work atmosphere, while waiting for my oil changes to be completed.Overall, I love the service and love coming to this location. Thank you to everyone at this branch for continuously making my experience a positive one!!!

2022-07-11Terrible and a scam!My husband went here May 15, 2022 for an oil change. We waited in the car while it was being done. Supposedly. This was our first time coming here. He paid $108.12 cash for FULL SYNTHETIC. A couple days after he had his oil ‘changed’ , his OIL light came on which we thought was weird considering he just left this place for that service. He brought it back to them and they said it was ‘just a light and needed to be reset’. They turned off the light.. a couple days later it did come back on but then came off.In the middle of June, about a month after the ‘oil change’ here, my father was working on the tires on the car. Since he was already looking at the car he decided to check the oil.My father who has been working on cars for over 40 years said he could NOT BELIEVE the way his oil looked. It was BLACK.And told my husband ‘when was the last time you had an oil change? A year?!’We both told him no it was not even a month ago! And my father did not believe it until we showed him the receipt! He said that this place did not change the oil at all or the filter. Especially for within a month for the oil to be BLACK. He even stated that one of the parts was cracked and if they were actually doing an oil change they should’ve seen that and said something- considering if it broke completely it would’ve went all over his engine and ruined it completely.Given the state of the oil my father had to do an entire new oil change, changing everything- just 4 weeks after getting an ‘oil change’ from this place.Definitely be aware and only go here if you know cars and can SEE what they’re doing because we were definitely taken advantage of and wasted money here which could’ve ruined our car completely.

2022-06-26Theyve upped their game. Professional, friendly, honest.I dealt mostly with a gentleman named Alex and his manager. Both wonderful. The pit crew gelled. Heres the work performed: A/C Thank GOD! IT WORKS AGAIN!oil change and filter.Front windshield wipers, and air filter. NOT 1 person came up and attempted to upsell. They were fact based, showed me everything before and after. These guys were the best.

2022-05-07The guys at Valvoline in Poughkeepsie have the best personality. They dont push you into buying things you dont want. They are friendly and will have a bit of conversation with you even though they are very busy. Before you know it youre done and it didnt even feel like you were there for 15 or 20 minutes. Prices are reasonable and dont forget to use a coupon!

2021-11-06Gave Valvoline a try after reading the reviews and glad I did. I went early in the day and they did a great job. You drive into their bays, stay in your car and the friendly staff goes to work under the car and under the hood checking everything and anything I had concerns about. They have high-tech equipment, check and refill all fluids, tires, bulbs and more. Staff was very thorough, explained any issues and where a pleasure to work with. Highly recommend.
