We had the most wonderful experience at Van Horn. We feared we would be shopping for wedding bands for months, going store to store to pin down the perfect quality and style. Instead on our first visit, we found exactly what we were looking for with help from the amazing staff. Everyone was attentive but not overbearing, knowledgeable and encouraging. It was a beautiful experience to have getting rings we’ll wear forever and will fondly remember Javin and his family’s help. Their jewelry throughout the store is so sophisticated and curated with great taste. We will be getting more special pieces there throughout the coming decades I’m sure.

I brought two rings into Van Horn Jewelers to be resized.They took great care in measuring and documenting each ring. Both rings had delicate stones and they gave me the option of having them sent out where they could be resized without having the stones removed. Both rings came back a week earlier than the estimated time. Both rings came back with the stones in perfect condition and the perfect size for my finger. Everyone there is so friendly and professional.
This is our “go to” place for jewelry in the Southern Tier. The staff is very knowledgeable, courteous and patient (no high pressure sales) with a great in-house selection. The prices are very competitive with other jewelers in the area. Being a family owned business, they really take pride in everything they sell, including complementary cleaning and other services well after the purchase. They treat you like family from the time you walk in the door! We have never been disappointed shopping here, hence a 5 star review.
Jill took care of us personally on all visits. I took a 76 year young woman into get her wedding ring and band fixed. It was shipped out and when we picked it up, it looked newer than 60 years ago. This lady was so happy and excited. She was all smiles. Jill helped us by having this lady sit in the comfortable chair and brought items to her. She purchased a beautiful locket. She tried to purchase a bracelet. Jill had to order a larger one. She let her know, they did not have her size, BUT would keep on the look out for one that will fit. They go above and beyond. This was our first visit to Van Horn Jeweler. We decided to come here to look for wedding bands and were impressed with the entire experience from the beginning. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly, and they have a solid knowledge of what they have in each case. We came back to have the bands engraved and then finally just picked them up. We worked with the owner, Skip, and he was very friendly and helpful the entire time with picking up our rings. He talked to us about the warranty on the rings and even putting us on a call list for routine checkup on the rings and cleaning. I absolutely love Van Horn Jewelers in Owego! The family that runs the business are truly good people who care deeply for their customers. I would never shop any place other than Van Horn Jewelers. First and foremost I believe in supporting local businesses but more than that, you will never meet two nicer people than Jill and Skip, who own the business. Integrity is something hard to find these days, especially in business practices but in a situation I had, where I needed to return a piece of jewelry, Skip was not only sympathetic to my situation but he treated me more than fairly, even to the point of calling me after a couple of years had gone by to let me know that the setting I had returned, had sold and that he was sending me a check. I would highly recommend this store for all of your fine jewelry, as well as many other unique item purchases. My parents always shopped there when Skips parents ran the business and I am so very happy to continue on with this tradition!
I needed my silver with turquoise gemstone ring resized. It was created by Spirit Piece (online) using some of my sons remains. I had the pleasure of meeting two women at VanHorns, both were extremely friendly and helpful. Neither passed judgement or questioned me when I told them about this ring and how special it was. Initially I was told it could take a few weeks for the ring to be returned since they send out their resizing’s. She also informed me she could put a rush on it but it may have up to a $30. fee. I was pleasantly surprised when I was called within a week for pick up with no additional cost. The ring was too small for the finger it was sized for. I tried it on another finger and it’s perfect. I went in to have my wifes rings cleaned and to have a new ring sized. They noticed the prongs on the diamond were getting loose. I had them size the one ring and fix the prongs on the diamond, and they look better than ever. Great people work there, no pressure , best selection in the area. I had a ring given to me by a family member, every time she wore it I would fall more in love with the ring. Her husband had passed away, she called me up one day and asked if I would come visit. Of course I did go over and we had a wonderful time talking about old times. Then she handed me this gift bag and said I have a little something for you, I opened it and there was the beautiful ring I always admired. I started to tear up she said she wanted someone to have that would love it like I did, I was so very honored. The next day I took it in to Van Horns Jewelers to have it checked. Skip looked at it and said I think my dad made this ring, I told him the story and then he knew for sure as his dad and Ken Wolf were great friends. I was afraid to wear it all the time but Skip said to wear it and enjoy it. I looked at it one day and noticed a stone missing I was devastated and felt like I let Jeana down. I went to Van Horns to have it fixed, it didnt take very long, but I just didnt have the money right then to get it out. They were very patient with me waiting so long before picking it up. When I did pick it up oh my gosh, it looked like a brand new ring, you would never have known where it was fixed, Mike did a fantastic job. All the workers treat you so kindly and professionally, I would recommend them for all your jewelry repair and purchase. Thank you Van Horns Jewelers.

I recently took 2 rings to VanHorn’s to see how we could make them into more modern, functional pieces. I sat with designer M. Husted for less than an hour and he sketched some options and these 2 pieces were redesigned into a beautiful pair of earrings. All of my questions were answered in a timely manor as we tweaked the look. When I finally saw the finished product, I was elated! The size of the earrings, stone settings, and look were exactly what I wanted.We have done business with VanHorn Jewelers for many years and we will keep going back!
Van Horn Jewelers went above and beyond in helping me this morning. I brought three items in to their store to be fixed and to my surprise, they were able to do it on the spot vs me having to leave the items for repair and make another trip to their store. The young lady that waited on me was extremely professional and very friendly. When it was time for me to pay for my repairs, she asked if she could update my information in their computer. She said the store recently started mailing out a coupon to their customers in their birthday month and even though my birthday was in September, they gave me a very nice discount. This is a “nicety” that in today’s world is rarely seen. Going forth, I will be visiting Van Horn’s more often.

The folks at Van Horn are knowledgeable and so nice! It makes no difference if you are looking at $5000 rings or dropping off a $20 repair, you get the same treatment here. Their prices are terrific, they have an amazing collection of beautiful things in all price ranges, and their designer is so very talented! Im not a big jewelry person, but when I need something of quality I come to Van Hornes. They are a local business that supports my community and are wonderful to deal with. Had a great experience with Van Horn Jewelers for buying an engagement ring! The staff (especially Skip the owner) were the most honest, friendly and easy to work with of all the jewelry stores in the area we visited by far. They also consistently went out of there way to make finding the right ring as easy as possible; including shipping stones directly to the store to compare one another, searching for stones of the best quality within my price point through their vendor , and most importantly, they did me a great favor by finishing the custom setting in short notice so I could present it on a special occasion. In short, Van Horns was the only jeweler we visited where we truly felt they had your best interest in mind throughout the whole process. Would definitely recommend.

We brought in a ring to be reset that had been my mother in laws 25th Anniversary Set from the 70s. Bringing it to a place we trusted was essential. I appreciated the time that Mike took with me to fully understand what I wanted and what was the safest setting for the solitaire. Skip patiently gave me advice on how to protect the stones, answered questions about gifts, and offered lots of creative ideas and suggestions about ring design ideas! I trust him implicitly and would recommend him and them to anyone!!From the first time I spotted the most beautiful and unique gemstone ring in their window (and later received it as a surprise birthday gift!) in 1987 to my latest girls afternoon out visit today, I have loved this shop! A great experience with wonderful people. We had a custom ring made by Michael Husted and it came out amazing plus the process was really enjoyable. In fact, my fiancée and I ended up having her wedding band custom made as well. A gorgeous result! I’ve had 2 pieces made by Michael Husted and also several items repaired by him. I can’t say enough great things about his work! From the designing of your piece to the finished product, Michael is an amazing artist and artisan. Every time I’ve been at Van Horn’s, it feels like I’m family. The showroom is very inviting. They have a really nice selection. I think there is something for everyone here. I went in to have my watch repaired. Kristen waited on me. She was super helpful and very personable. She cleaned my rings while I was shopping and offered me coffee and water.I really enjoyed seeing all of the jewelry that their bench jeweler has made right there in the store. They custom crafted the ring to fit my style and size, and the ring turned out even better than I expected. The BEST place to go hands down! We worked with Steve and he was WONDERFUL! He listened to what we wanted, and then working from that gave us guidance and suggestions. Yesterday, I picked up my ring designed by Michael. To say it took my breath away is an understatement. In one ring, I have diamonds from my mother, my father, and my grandmother. The best choice I could have made was to bring my ring and band, which was in need of a major makeover, to Michael Husted. He very patiently listened as I told him my horror story of how a prior jeweler changed the setting and whole look of my ring. My ring design was so altered that I did not believe it was my ring, and I actually filed a police report. That is how drastic it was.Michael is a master of his trade. He was able to change the setting , and bring the ring and band together to make them fit perfectly. My ring is now so beautiful I love looking at it all through the day!

I took my wedding ring in to get it sized. It is a handmade ring with many imperfections that I love and did not want buffed out. They assured me that they would leave the imperfections. I got it back yesterday and it looked as promised. I’m very satisfied and will use them again in the future.

I brought him a Cape May diamond and he celebrated my brother (who passed away) with a necklace which enclosed the stone with rose gold hand carved leaves, a post with both of our birthstones, and a beautiful antiqued chain. Uniquely Victorian and sentimentally perfect - my brother is close to my heart. I get a lot of compliments when I wear it. The second piece is a beautiful triangular piece of flawless green sea glass (which deserves to be a piece of jewelry) which Michael capped with a wave motif using a complement of white sapphires in a wave pattern. From Skip and Jill, Javan, Kristen, and the rest of their extremely professional and personable staff (if you time it right - this time of year Skip will have warm chocolate chip cookies waiting) it is beyond me why anyone would consider going anywhere else. While their reviews and 5 star reputation and their established footprint in business and in the community should speak for itself, I felt the need to ring the praise bell too! Thank you to Michael and his staff for the excellent repair job that was done recently on my ring and bracelet. They not only did an excellent repair job but went above and beyond to make sure that my jewelry was ready for me before I went out of town. I would highly recommend them to anyone.

2022-05-16I just visited Van Horn Jewelers and, once again, had a fabulous experience. Every staff member was personable, professional and knowledgeable. Our family has now bought four “generations” of engagement rings and wedding bands from Van Horn Jewelers as well as other milestone event pieces. This time I visited with my son who was shopping for engagement and wedding rings. Mission accomplished with ease! If I could rate VHJ at more than 5-stars, I would. Hopefully our next generation of jewelry shoppers will be buying from the next generation of Van Horn family members. Expand the photo to see three generations of ring sets below. 2022-01-05Wonderful experience! My husband and I purchased our engagement and wedding rings from Van Horn and we are so happy. The rings are beautiful and great quality. The people are amazing to work with and we really developed a relationship with them. I had very specific ideas about what I wanted my engagement ring to look like and they nailed it. I didnt have the right words to describe what I wanted, but somehow they figured it out! They were able to combine a band I liked from one ring with a setting they knew I would like from a catalog. They also spent a bit of time walking us through the characteristics of diamonds and helping us decide what was right for us, not what was most expensive. Our experience with wedding rings was also great; they brought in different rings for us to try on and we found just the right ones.

2022-04-02My experience at Van Horn was AMAZING. The employees were extremely educated and helpful. They helped me pick out 2 beautiful cross pendants. If you’re ever in town, definitely stop by and check out their store. There is a wide variety of jewelry to pick from: rings, necklaces, watches, earrings, anklets, custom made jewelry, and everything else you could ever think of. Braelyn is a PHENOMENAL saleswomen, she was very sweet and pleasant. The entire staff was happy to assist me and did not disappoint. Give this jewelry store a visit!

2017-03-03Our experience with Michael and the entire staff was outstanding. We had a custom ring made for my wife from a ring she received from her mother. Michaels design and the results were unbelievable. We couldnt have been more pleased with our interactions with all the staff and the time frame it took to make this ring.
