Van Leeuwen Ice Cream in other cities:
This is a great place to get ice cream. The flavors were interesting. Tons of options to choose from. I recommend blending vanilla with the Brooklyn brown sugar. This place can get pretty busy since it’s a tiny location. They don’t take cash so make sure you have plastic!
Van Leeuwen Ice Cream is one of my favorite ice cream brands in the US. The decor is cozy, colorful and lovely. The staff was friendly and welcoming. The flavors were limited during COVID-19. We had 1 scoop of pistachio in cup which was charged for $5.75 with decent portion. The texture of ice cream was creamy and delicate. The flavor was quality, natural and not fake at all. Overall, the ice cream was light, refreshing and perfect for a hot afternoon.
Great ice cream, obviously. I love their peppermint flavor around the holidays. The brand is like a New York icon. That being said I’ve definitely had some less good flavors here. I’m not vegan but I think their vegan flavors are generally better, because that’s kind of their specialty. This location gets busy with lines out the door and flavors sell out by late in the day. Still, great, just know you might need to be patient and flexible.
Cute little ice cream shop in Soho! Absolutely loved their vegan ice cream! I chose the one scoop in a cup and it was $6.50 so not the cheapest place for ice cream but the flavour is worth every penny. I even had a hard time finishing it so at the end of the day, this could’ve been shared between two vegan ice cream lovers!
Best ice cream Ive ever had. Im lactose intolerant and the vegan mint chocolate chip icecream is to die for. The only reason Im not giving this place a 5 star rating is because the service was meh. The guy working there blasted the music so high you could barely hear him talk.
The ice cream here is awesome! I had really good peppermint ice cream, it reminded me of the peppermint ice cream that I always used to eat with my grandma when I was a kid. Additionally, we had a 7 person group, and there was only one employee, and he got our order perfect. People may have complained that it took a while, but what do you expect when there’s only one person working. At least there weren’t any errors with the ordering. Other than that, everyone in my group really enjoyed their ice cream, and thought that Van Leeuwen’s was a cute little place worth returning to.
Delicious selection of flavors with plenty of vegan options. Be sure to try the flavors before ordering, especially the hazelnut crunch, which is out of this world. They also offer a kids size, which is not listed on the menu. Summer or winter, this is one of our favorite places for ice cream with clean, natural flavors.
Some of the best ice cream in the area.. usually a pretty long line to get your take out ice cream but well worth the wait. Several different flavors but not so many that will overwhelm you.. prices are on the more expensive side but you get what you pay for.. they also have ice cream in quarts and pints to take home as well.

2022-07-07It’s a small cute shop! I ordered the brown sugar walnut and toasted marshmallow s’mores flavors, and they together were too sweet for me. The former one actually has brown sugar cubes in it… If you love it it’s gonna be great.

2022-07-14Quaint little ice cream places (one of many in NYC). Ordered one scope and got at least three! It was quite rich and filling!

2022-01-05I asked for a scoop of their best-selling ice cream and I believe it was the honeycomb flavour. It was surprisingly good, agreeable sweetness! Would like visit again for other flavours.

2021-07-09If you’re not familiar with Van Leeuwen this is for you. It’s my first time trying the ice cream and it was delicious. However, it is too expensive for a ice cream. This two waffle cone ice cream with two scoops cost $18. Which you could buy 2 pints of ice cream at the grocery’s store. This place is super nice and service is pretty good. I got the pistachio ice cream and my BF got two different flavors. The cookies n’ cream and double chocolate fudge (I’m not sure) but it has a strong dark chocolate taste. Would I recommend this place? YES! Specially this summer to beat the heat.

They have the freshest ingredients, a huge variety of flavors from classics like vanilla bean to specials like bourbon cherries jubilee. they also have ice cream bars and a great variety of vegan ice cream. whenever i see pints in stores i always grab one. My all time favorite is Honeycomb.

2022-03-21Real ingredients. Smooth but not highly refined texture. A paucity of Creative and unique flavors. All within acceptable price point. Definitely not a typical frozen treat you get from a mixed match candy shop. Was hopping the service gets faster and include a black cherry flavored ice cream bc it is my favor ^ ^

2021-07-17Upscale prices, so this is a once-in-awhile treat. The vegan ice cream is delicious. We especially enjoyed the strawberry with cookie crumbles. We also had an espresso which was a good foil for the sweet dessert.

2022-08-08Let me first say, the staff was awesome. They were super friendly and willing to help me make a selection. We got two flavors: vegan peanut butter cup & vegan churro. The churro was essentially vanilla ice cream with an enormous amount of cinnamon, where as the peanut butter cup was awesome. The portions are a bit small but I guess that’s New York!

2021-04-06Van Leeuwen is reliably delicious! Good classic flavors plus many amazing vegan options. Earl Gray is usually my favorite go-to. The Brooklyn Black Sugar Chunk is also great with its different bits of cookie dough and nuts in the ice cream that creates a really nice texture and mix of flavors in every bite. The Spring street location is pretty small, so the menu is more limited. I was a bit disappointed that some of the more creative flavors aren’t offered in-store.
