Van Leeuwen Ice Cream in other cities:
Very friendly service. The vegan ice cream is made with oatmilk . Very very smooth and very tasty. They have many different flavors to choose from. I will definitely go back. They have these shops all around NYC and Brooklyn. If you go and live far away bring a cooler to keep it frozen on the way home. I took a bunch of photos so you can see what they have.
Absolutely love everything about this shop. So many fun flavors (and actually awesome for both vegan and non vegan flavor), the shop is super cute, the workers there are SO lovely. Very friendly, polite helpful welcoming service made my day for sure. Even tho I had a bad day, their ice cream and service gave me a smile. Potion for two scoops was way more than enough for both of me and my sister. My absolute favorite flavor was earl grey.
Vegan ice cream was soooo good but what was even better was the customer service from a young lady at the register. My wife went in there for the first time really overwhelmed by the options and this young lady made her day. Thank you for the ice cream and making my wife happy. Will be back.P.s Please advertise the no cash thing. My wife had no idea and thank god the young lady was understanding.
Horrible customer service and charged me for double scoop but only gave me one scoop. The ice cream we got wasn’t even what we ordered and was way below par. This store needs better management. I have been to the other store and had so much better experience. Please look into this because this store is simply stealing people’s money.
Awesome little ice cream place that has a bunch of awesome flavors AND are great for your friends who have dietary restrictions. I eat out with one friend that can’t have dairy and another who can’t have dairy and soy so maybe this can be a place we come to for dessert!
A vegan and non vegans dream. This place is amazing! I can’t believe all the yummy vegan / non vegan options they have! Never been to a place with so many options for both people. I had vegan mint chip hot fudge and vegan whipped cream. Best ice cream I’ve ever had since transitioning plant based. Worth every penny.
I went around 3pm on a Wednesday and there was no line (which never happens), I was there with 2 other friends and we all got time to try out some flavors before making our decision. Usually there is a line so I feel bad asking to try different flavors. Also, they give you read metal spoons to try flavors which I think is pretty unique and cool.I choose earl grey flavor and I was very happy with it. It was delicious and the flavor was not over bearing in any way. I will definitely be going back for it...even if I have to wait on line!@traveleen_gurl
Very interesting flavors, as I type this.. they have a MAC N CHEESE FLAVOR!Want to try. Didnt try yet lol. I got the praline butter cake, friends got the raspberry layer cake and strawberry. They so had baklava(vegan) Id be interested in regular baklava flavor though 🥺🥺.Will try the Mac n cheese just to try it next time.Really wish they had Butter beer flavour as Van Leeuwen is more accessible than Yuenglings ice cream, but for now theres the Harry Potter store for butter beer🍺🍻.Van Leeuwen s got Mario(n)berry Mario ™ Berry lolHoneycomb, and cheesecake flavors, also they... THEY MAKE THEIR OWN WAFFLE CONES!!! 🤯🥺😳😤🥵🤤🤤🤤
Extremely slow service, we waited 40 minutes in the line ( not a big line). Ice cream is not bad , not excellent either. Too sweet in my opinion, sugar covers all the flavour. They need to train their staff efficiency and they also need more staff. This guys had a lot of work, they couldnt deal with it, and that made them exhausted and rude. So you wait with your 4 year old and 1 year old kids , 40 min in small line for an ice cream, and at the end you get a rude guy serving you, not even looking at you, Ice cream that is not THAT excellent.....
One day, my wife and I decided to grab some dessert like ice creams. Thanks to good reviews, we decided to visit Van Leeuwen Ice Cream. We visited this place quite late and were shocked that its open up to midnight. Everything is easily shown to the customer, what to pick, whats the price, etc. And everything is digital. There is no way to pay by cash, no way to get paper receipt. Only conctactless paying is allowed, receipt is being sent to email. I was for the first time in such a place and I really loved it. Ice cream itself was pretty good, very creamy and so tasty. Will I recommend? For sure!
Van leewen a 10/10 rip off. our large ice cream sundae had one scoop of ice cream and was filled to the top with whip cream to make it look like the sundae was filled. they were cheap with their toppings and barely put anything on. If you’re looking for a cup of whip cream check this place out but if you’re looking for ice cream try any place but this ! :-)
I dont even want to try it, it may be good, but at usd7.75 (probably + tax) for just 2 scoops is the most overpriced ice cream I haven seen on Earth. I have tried unforgettable ice creams for a fraction of that. This one is even around 30% more expensive than other amazing craft ice creams I had in NYC. Is just that dont buy from stores that charges extra prices for no reason.
Update: 8/15/19I understand the seriousness of nut allergies. however, I dont appreciate being interrogated by the staff about my allergies especially after Ive already told them what Im allergic to and my reactions. just give me a sample and then please scoop my ice cream.-------Chcolate is my ultimate favorite. At Van Leeuwen they do not serve you a traditional chocolate ice cream. their chocolate ice cream is a little bitter and creamy and rich. it pairs perfectly with the honeycomb ice cream which is very sweet.I also tried the fudge brownie ice cream. which I didnt like, it was very dense and chewy. Two scoops came out to be $8.44 not including tipbe warned that this is a CASHLESS location. they only accept credit card/debit cards. however, they do accept cash tips.
This new Van Leeuwen is now my favourite location! Besides always having tons of new flavours, the seating is more comfortable than other locations, and the service is top notch. Bob, does not only greets every one with a great smile, but he also has the best music selection.Thank you for everything, Bob!!

2022-05-21I stopped in for some ice cream , on the recommendation of a friend . He told be that Van Leeuwens ice cream was some of the very best around. He recommended that I try the Brown Sugar Cookie Dough Chunk, a flavor I might not have chosen on my own, and it was amazing, with the walnuts and chunks the ice cream was fantastic. I also had a scoop of Praline Butter Cake and it too was wonderful. Next time I need to try one of the chocolate flavors. Ill be back for sure!!!

2022-06-11I had a scoop of vegan strawberry shortcake and vegan chocolate chip cookie dough in a waffle cone and I kept making a 🥴 face out of delight every time I took a bite. Just thinking about it now makes me want it again.Van Leeuwen sells expensive, yummy ice cream. Treat yourself.

2021-08-02Ice cream was mediorce. I didn’t like the flavors/fillings - I had the brown sugar cookie dough and cookies & cream, which both tasted very different from their original versions. I also found the actual icecream to be a tad too sweet. It was pretty expensive ($16 for 2 people). If you have dietary restrictions they have a lot of vegan options which my friend said were good. Probably wouldn’t come back.

2021-09-30Five stars for the praline butter cake, which is now among my favorite ice creams in NYC. And for the friendly staff, Eden and Ethan. My friend and I had a great chat with them.(My ice cream photo looks unflattering because I remembered to take it after already eating some. Flavors: pistachio, honeycomb, cookies & cream, and the aforementioned praline butter cake. No complaints.)

2021-10-21Hands down one of the best ice cream shops (and chain) in NYC. An amazing large assortment of ice cream flavors (and vegan deserts) options with the choice to sample every single one before ordering. The ice cream here is insanely good, be it the flavors, texture, quantity or price (3 scoop being the best deal).I had the Marion berry cheesecake, Honey comb and brownie raspberry swirl (vegan) scoops and all three were amazing, especially their Honey comb ice cream. My experience made me agree with their motto, happiness is health and having Van Leeuwen is happiness. They also sell prepacked pints here but it will be cheaper to buy them at local nearby supermarkets/grocery stores like Target or Fairway. They also have extremely friendly staff as well.

2022-07-27I love it because it’s delicious. I get three scoops of delightful dairy goodness served in a gigantic waffle cone; which is in fact, more tasty than any waffle cone has a right to be. I’ve had the chocolate, the strawberry, the vanilla, the black cherry chip and the raspberry layer cake. All cold, creamy and satisfying. I have no doubt that I will be just as satisfied when I try the rest.

2022-05-15This was my first time coming to this ice cream place. I love that theyre open late, makes it a nice spot to stop by with friends after dinner. They have a great array of flavors, I had the marionberry cheesecake and blue planet. Both were amazing.

2022-08-18So excited for dairy free ice cream, with some options also gluten free! One of the staff members this evening was great and super helpful, but the other staff member wanted to talk to the one actually doing all the work and just completely ignored the customers. Would agree that the customer service need a little help.
