Their collection is amazing. Staff for sure more friendlier then another place I’ve been... in midtown...This is a must stop for any gamers. They truly hold the culture of gaming here and so blessed a game shop like this exist. Picked up a GG game and will definitely be back.
It’s great having a neighborhood video game shop. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Great selection of vintage games, consoles and devices as well as gamer related stickers, shirts, hats and other merch. This store saved me more than once when I’ve needed a a last minute part or component for my Switch and my Xbox Series X.
Video gamers dream store. They have everything from atari to ps5. Definitely a place I would get some older items - not so much the new. Saw the switch lites were jacked up about 30- 40 bucks from what you can get them at target or gamestop.Overall a cool place to walk around and bring up childhood memories with some of the older games.
This is my first review ever. My wife and I went on vacation to New York. I was looking for some cool place to find retro video games and this place popped up. I was able to find a game that is unfindable where I am from and made the purchase of Golden Axe 64... I also saw a sega cd model 2... I have a sega cdx that the cd drive finally went caput on me and i couldnt play the games from my childhood anymore. I bought it and flew back to where Im from... It didnt work... I wrote them an email explaining the wrong power chord was given to me. They sent the correct power cord multiple states away and the system works flawlessly. If youre in New York and into retro games... stop by it is well worth a buy.
This small pocket of a games store is a huge treasure. In such a tiny space, a huge inventory is surprisingly showcased. And for nearly every system too! Whether a collector or a casual gamer, retro and current gaming is offered. For the hardcore collectors, a good amount of rarities and imports are available as well. I was definitely taken by surprise when seeing copies of Limited Run Gaming and Signature Edition titles, which have limited print released, available here for not much more than their initial pricing.
Wow some serious selection in this place! Even if youre asking about the more obscure stuff chances are theyll have it. Pricing is ok. Some items reasonable, some were not. The guy running the place was friendly and knowledgeable. Took the time to explain a lot of things. Seems like they stand by firmly on what they sell and give you peace of mind with everything garaunteed. I purchased a rare item and explained I was just in town for a very short time and he explained to just call if there were ever any issues and that we could work something out or extend the warranty until I could get back. Seems like they care about repeat business. Again, they literally have everything including tons of 3rd party accessories and cables for all consoles including RGB Scart cables. Worth a look.
Another absolute gem of a Video Game shop in NYC. They cover 99% of all gaming consoles & accessories. Huge selection of Old School/Retro games (Physical Copy) as well as those hard to find classics. So much in a small space. Take your time and go through the inventory. You’ll be pleased you stopped by. Also check out there website for there Pre-Order service & never miss a hot title again.
I came by to purchase a Switch game and was pleasantly surprised by the huge inventory this shop has. There were games for pretty much all console eras, vintage guide books, collectors items, etc. The workers here also seem to really passionately know their stuff. This location likely will have anything you could ever ask for video game-wise.
If you love games, old or new, rare or common you will love this store. There are some incredible finds here if you collector or just someone interested in viewing cool stuff then I highly recommend. The owner is very personable and fun to talk to as well as knowledgeable.
Awesome place!!! Looking for it since a long long time since i planned my trip to NY and i was not dissapointed. I found all Sanwa parts that i needed but best of all was the attentions and attitude from Nick, damm he even made himself the cable i needed for my joystick. Store have plenty of games, consoles, accesorries, collectionables and stuff. A must go if you are on the city!!
So many great old games from Atari, obscure Japanese systems, PS4 and everything in between. Its really cramped though. I had to keep moving to allow employees to pass while I was trying to look for a GameCube games in a narrow space. In a cleaner, spacious store I would gives it 5 stars.
Went there yesterday to pick up cables for a Fat PS2. Jay was there to assist. He was very helpful. He recommended me an hdmi adapter for a modern tv. I was so happy that it was even an option. I would highly recommend this video game store, they sell retro and modern games. They even hold imports which is a plus.
Customer service wasnt that great. This 1 African american guy with an afro is very passive aggressive on the job and if youre looking to sell your games dont even bother. I understand stores need to make profit but they lowball you as much as they can on buying games you would think they would cut frequently returning customers a deal. Shame because this store actually has a great selection of games but most of the prices are just not worth it.
Video Games New York is EPIC! This store was clean and organized. The staff was very knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. They literally have ALL your gaming needs. From Retro to Contemporary, pick your pleasure. In my visit today, I spotted a brand new Atari and games...enough said. I am going back!
Bought a disc only to realize it was severely damaged and wouldn’t even read. The second disc I bought also had cosmetic damages, but it would read the disc. I don’t know if it will play quite yet because I haven’t tested it. I’m quite surprised because all discs have “clean, tested, and guaranteed” on the packaging. Yet I happened to get two discs that seemed far from this……
Just wanna post that Jay absolutely crushed it. i came in with an old SNES that i could not get to display on my tv (sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn’t) and i was really bummed cause it’s very sentimental to me- I gave it to Jay and he tested it out for me right on the spot, turns out it was a faulty power connector (not surprised, it’s 25 years old.) he got me a replacement and i left with a huge smile on my face. thank you so much!
Courteous staff, knowledgeable of games, accessories, and other tech tidbits, clean area to browse their mini museum of vintage consoles and games of years past, a great to feel at home while out of home experience for all ages, repairs available at a reasonable price, one of the last video game stores able to survive it all with their new and used systems, available for visuals and sale, and just a great chill spot to talk about anything gaming. Truly a fan gamers place to play and enjoy for all generations.
Local mom and pop shops have been on the steep decline for many years now. The current pandemic hasnt helped at all. So to see a mom and pop shop like Videogames New York still standing is a sight to behold. Aside from being a local, privately owned store by actual gamers, its one of the only, if not the only store left that has rare collectible games, retro games, and various other games and consoles from Japan. In addition to this, they also have most of the Limited Run stuff, so you can pick them up without having to deal with the hassle of online shopping. Its worth a visit.
The place is pretty small and it follows covid guidelines It has multiple sections and a great array of video games and consoles they also repair controllers and consoles as well as sell upscale game boys and some modded devices like backlighted devices some titles and consoles they carry are everything from PlayStation 5,,4,3,2,1, Dreamcast, GameCube ,Xbox ,Xbox ,360 Xbox One, super Nintendo, Sega Genesis, famicom, ColecoVision, Nintendo 64,super Nintendo, and more friendly environment diagnosis for problematic or non-functioning consoles and controllers are free and you only need a deposit to get your stuff started on repairs friendly environment and overall great customer service
Fantastic selection. Reasonable prices. Knowledgeable staff thats not pushy but not completely dismissive like another retro store in the area. Had my GBA batteries replaced here also with quick and friendly service. The isles are pretty slim and it can get crowded though so be prepared to squeeze and take your covid protocols seriously.Plus there is a 3D printed Bender so they have that going on, which is nice.
This is the greatest retro video game store out there. I originally came here to get one or two game boy Vance games, but when I saw how many there were, I almost bought the whole shelf. This place is amazing, the people that work there is amazing, and I would recommend going here if you’re looking for any retro game
Its a good store, but I bought a game that didnt work. You would think for such a nice store that is so well known they would test their games when they come in. I didnt get my money back but they gave me store credit. I would give this a 3, but they have a lot of rare games and most things are priced fairly.
Theres nothing else to say except this store Fing Rocks! Ive spent almost 500.00 here in the past month filling up my Amiibo collection. By that I mean they have great prices..puts the whole ebay thing to shame. Guys who work here are super nice and helpful. This is what a video games store is meant to be!
I went in to get my PSPs power checked and to get a possible replacement of a power cable by (Chris) around 4pm today (1/8/21).Note: His shift was over and he did not have to help, but did so anyway. So, Im writing this review because I want to give him (Chris) a shout out for his great customer service (and also for being really knowledgeable about a lot of the stores products and history. Add to that his personality lends itself to having an ease of conversation about just about anything, incl. retro and modern gaming.)Finally, the success and strength of a business is its ability to have repeat customers/clients. And since the first time Ive interacted with Chris, from phone to in-person support, Ive wanted to return to the person that gave me a positive shopping experience. Thanks and continue being awesome at what you do.
So much stock! I messaged on Facebook about ps1 games and they sent me a picture of their case. I was in the area and had to visit. Although I had games in mind, I made it through the store to check out other items. Their collection of open retro systems was really cool. I ended up with two sealed ps1 games and an Xbox 360 games and paid a really fair price. Only downside is it’s tightly packed but I get that: NYC real estate + large inventory. Staff were busy but still helpful and thats a huge plus for me. In any collectible business you get your regulars or those trading stuff in, and these places have small staff so when crowded, attention can get diverted. But as soon as I asked for assistance I was helped and checked out super quick. Thanks for games and I’ll be back I’m sure. Especially with Mighty Quinn’s down the street.
Been here twice and I LOVE IT! The workers here are VERY knowledgeable about new and older games and consoles, they knew stuff about older consoles I didn’t even know were a thing. I purchased a backlit modified original Gameboy Advanced from them and I love it, they were very helpful. Definitely plan on doing some more retro game purchasing here as long as they have what I’m looking for 👍
Amazing collection of product and friendly staff. I found the prices a little inflated, but that makes sense based on the location. Unfortunately, because of the amazing amount of inventory it is a tight squeeze and can be a bit crowded which made me uncomfortable. I still recommend this location because they likely have exactly what you are looking for including limited run games.
Two words, Everything works! I have gone to this store and always left happy! They clean all of their games and consoles that they get shipped to the store. They have rare stuff and modern games too. The staff is ridiculously Friendly and helpful in every way. They also know what they are talking about. The store also does game and console repairs! If you are collecting retro games and consoles like me, this is a must-go! It might be a bit pricey but it all works!
Great spot they pretty much have everything youre looking for many selections on games and consoles they even do game boy advance customs bare in my the store is a bit small but they makeup by having games throughout the whole store staff is amazing as well will go back for a psp soon.
The best. Like a used book store for games - complete with overstuffed, ramshackle shelving, thoughtful recommendations, and friendly staff. The atmosphere is like a garage mixed with an urban church mixed with a local deli.Got my Game Boy Color screen replaced here, they did a marvelous job and it came back better than ever. If I wasn’t so attached to my original turquoise case, I definitely would have swapped it out for one of the killer kiwi green or translucent purple cases they have available. They got game boy printers, they got link cables, they got GBA games in boxes with manuals, whacky special editions, limited run indies, they got it all! They also replace save batteries and de-gunk cartridges. Grateful to have somewhere to take old systems and find 3DS games that nobody else seems to ever have in stock.I really can’t overstate the incredible selection. Go here !!
Chances are they got the game, the system, the accessory you need. They have everything from vintage games to the latest releases with everything in between. Its pretty much a museum for gaming with everything displayed in cases and some out on display. It can get A little claustrophobic if its busy. But a great place to stop by look around and chat.
Ive only been here a handful of times and the last time I was here was back in February 2020.This place is pretty small, but its tightly packed. Just about every inch of the store is covered with all sorts of game related merchandise and its amazing. Some sections of the store are uncomfortable to get through, so youre better off trying to come here when there arent that many people inside. This place is like a museum and Im sure that the owners dont mind people coming in just to look, but I wouldnt spend an obscene amount of time just looking. With how easy it is to buy just about anything online nowadays, I wouldnt say its absolutely necessary to buy instore, but its still worth it because of all the interesting things this place has to offer.Ive been a gamer since the early 90s and Ive owned all sorts of games and consoles, but this place still has plenty of new things to offer to a person such as myself. They have a lot of stuff thats been imported from Japan, and Im pretty sure they have (or had) a console signed by Hideo Kojima.Im sure that places like this are a dime a dozen in Akihabara, but how many of us will actually get to visit Japan?I dont know how the stores being run during the pandemic, but I have good memories with this place before any of that happened.Though I like this store and what it has to offer, its worth mentioning that some of their prices are more expensive than Id like. Im sure that its due to having to compete with websites and how rent in NYC isnt cheap, but Im not always eager to pay more than whats required. I dont say that to turn you away, but to inform that though this place is cool in more ways than one, you may not be satisfied with how some of its products are priced. If youre a gamer, you owe it to yourself to visit this place at least once.
A tiny independent video game store, Run by sweet, knowledgeable, and patient employees. It boasts a great selection of both new games, used games, imports, vintages and rare controller parts or pieces. The Staff is very knowledgeable, but the store is Small, and there is often a line of people making small-talk.The place can be claustrophobic at a busy time of day, but there are few places that leave me feeling this good after Ive spent money. Their Return policies are excellent!
They only want you there to make repairs. They have no advice on anything other than to bring it in and let us see it for two weeks or more. If you have any questions about anything best to just Google it, or go to a Mac or PC store they have better console support( ashamed to say that). There covid protocols are not followed very well there as well.
My online experience has been amazing I purchased a silver GameCube and it works perfectly! It’s in great condition also I had a few questions about a few of my other items I purchased and a employee named Carlos was super helpful and nice! I found my new favorite game store. 🙏🏼
This is a place that us always going to be a travel in time for me. To see the games, magazines, and a few 9gher rarities from my youth is always a treat. For the modern, always uo to date with whats out. No, they are not GameStop which means, not everything will be in stock. What makes up for that though is the entire staff that will talk to you about options for gaming with a knowledge base that is second to none.
So first I got to say. This place is awesome! When I walked in and was like walking down memory lane but not only that they have the most updated games and systems as well! When I walked in I was greeted warmly and the staff is absolutely knowledgeable! I bought my sons PlayStation 4 in for repairs because it was not accepting disc... the gentleman behind the counter wearing the glasses simply took the system hooked it up plugged it in just a couple of buttons and wallah the system was fixed. He didnt even charge me! He said it only took five minutes! Those 5 minutes made a lifetime fan and customer of me! You need to come to videogamesnewyork!
This place has a wide selection of games and consoles that you won’t find anywhere else, at a great price! The staff is very knowledgeable about various games, talking with them about games is fantastic and they are very patient and willing to help you find what you are looking for. The best video game store I have ever been in.
They have a vast collection of consoles, older and newer, as well as an even larger collection of games. If you think of any console, these folks probably have them.Customer service was great, their collections are not lacking, and its tucked away enough to be a worthwhile visit. My only concern are the prices. For example, the SNES Classic, which typically sells for $80, is sold for $150 here. I understand that it is hard to find, but thats almost twice the price. The same goes for imported Vita systems, which go up to $400. Again, I understand that those consoles are imported, but the prices can be ridiculous.Overall, however, this is a fantastic video games store. Just keep an eye out for the prices on certain things.
Came here recently for arcade stick parts as I was unsatisfied with an online order from a different site. Staff was very knowledgeable, patient and friendly the entire time, even as I asked a bunch of questions. They have a huge selection of retro and modern games as well - definitely my new go-to spot for everything gaming!
Just to start off the store has an amazing collection. However this does not excuse the the stores faults. To start off the staff felt very distant and cold. I did not feel welcome or even wanted. I feel this is unacceptable for any store. when I asked to look at some games behind a case. the worker simply sighed and performed his task with minimal enthusiasm. Next i felt the prices were very hit or miss. To elaborate on that I mean that some of the games and merchandise were good deals and fairly priced. However some of the other merchandise were extremely expensive and considerably more expensive than the majority of ebay listings. I would recommend coming here if you are interested in seeing a great collection and looking for some possible deals. Beware of the prices and staff.
This place is definitely one of my go to they have a dope selection of retro and modern games with very reasonable prices and lots of hidden gems that are difficult to find like limited run games! The majority of the inventory is behind glass but you can still see the titles clearly and the prices as well. Theyre also not limited in inventory for the older systems so you will definitely find what youre looking for.
Insane variety and collection of gaming goods. They have up to date gaming titles for any system both foreign and domestic. They also carry an impressive stock of nostalgic game titles and the systems to play them on. NYC used to have multiple independently owned gaming stores, but this place in one of the rare ones left. Definitely worth a look and worth your business.
Very helpful and knowledged staff that will help you find what youre looking for. Huge assortment of different English and Japanese video games from the beginning of time and brand new releases. They import limited and collectors edition saving you the trouble. Even if you dont plan of buying anything, this place is a historical museum of video games and is worth checking out. It features pretty much every piece of hardware you could imagine, giving you a blast from the past.
This place is like Video Game heaven. So much nostalgia for sale, its not even funny. Where else can you go and see an actual Magnavox Odyssey right before your very eyes, for purchase? Its so good of a shop, your can even buy actual issues of classic gaming periodicals from way back in the day, right down to strategy guides as well. If youre a gaming enthusiast, you NEED to check this place out.
The store is kept just a *touch* too warm, but that aside Im so glad I took the time to walk there from work. They were clear, honest, and friendly in their assessment of the issue with my sons handheld game. They advised based on what would be best for me, not for them. Much appreciated. Will be back.
Listen my fellow video game nerds, this place is one of my favorite mom and pops shops for gaming to date. With a high number of retro, modern, and Japanese ports of games this place is a encyclopedia for video games old and new. Dont have Amazon Prime? Make reservations for your new releases and pick it up once they arrive in the store via text message! I got Pokémon Sword before midnight on the 13th which saved me a lot of time. And at retail price at that. You can also inquire about retro games and other hardware in store. My favorite thing about this store in particular is the fact that they sell arcade sticks for the same value of $150 without you having to get a delivery charge on top of the 149.99 your paying for it! Unlike other stores it can feel a bit cramped, and feel a bit on the warmer side once summer hits but this place has a lot to offer compared to other retailers!
While looking around for a birthday present I found videogamesnewyork. I placed my order for 3 of the same game for the Nintendo Switch. Item arrived promptly but only problem was I was sent 3 copies of a different game (i guess they didnt take care in my packing sure i got the right game). Packing slip confirmed the game I purchased but item sent was not the one I ordered. Return label was sent promptly after I called to notify them but the supervisor of the store who i wished to talk to would not return my call to discuss the matter. Now im without the item for the birthday because they couldnt ship the MY ORIGINAL order until the wrong order arrives to them. Buyer beware they really dont care to admit when they make a mistake. Last purchase with them
Id give a higher score because its pure nostalgia heaven. They have just about every classic console and game going all they way back to late 70s and 80s going up to up to the current gen stuff. They also sell imports from Japan, and I think Europe as well. My only complaint is that the store is very cramped. Other than that, I cant recommend this place enough. I do miss there old location on St. Marks Place though.
They have an astounding collection of stuff packed into a small space. Prices seemed pretty fair for retro stuff. Anyone interested in retro games should visit just to see the collection in the far back corner. The rare and unique items (including several autographed systems) make up a fine mini-museum.
I have not been to this store but I did meet these guys at a convention in Canada called anime north they were the only vendor to offer a good price for gamecube controllers that are official. Also they got a great selection of games and controllers. Highly recommend
I havent seen a store like this in years. They have everything a person could ever want to continue enjoying the console games of yesteryear. I am impressed with the collection of import games new and old. The selection of older NES and n64 is something that cant be found online. The staff that works there is also extremely helpful and friendly. They go above and beyond to make sure you leave a happy customer. If youre looking for the classics go visit this store.
The price for the arcade equipment came out more expensive than what I saw online; however, the instant availability of such niche parts, and the quality of service was well worth it. The person behind the counter was also kind enough to replace the part for me in just a couple of minutes, which saved me the headache of doing it myself.
Amazing place. I highly recommend anyone with some love for gaming visit this place. The store is really well organized with beautiful displays. Staff is excellent. Jay was happy to help me find what I was looking for, while being very knowledgeable and extremely patient. I will definitely visit again. Thank you!
There are stores for vintage records, but there are also stores like Video Games New York that has vintage games .Remember the time when cartridges ruled my school bag, where you have to blow into and warm up the connectors and quickly insert it into the slot and hope to the game will start up right..good old days when cellphone games were non existent. The store has a huge and rare selections of vintage systems, vintage games. Staff was pretty helpful, but not in your face and constantly asking..can I help you which can scare some customers away. Sometimes customers just need their space to browse around. This place is like the museum of all things video games. Prices are okay, but not too expensive depending on the condition and rareness of the game.
If Gaby is anything to go by, this store is amazing! She was quick to double check if they had a game I wanted to give as a birthday gift. And was kind enough to recommend a couple of places because it was sold out and I was on a time limit. Truly a store to check out.
A must visit if youre in New York! Incredible stock and reasonable prices. Definitely try to find a not busy time to go in though!A real gem and Im so glad I was recommended to visit when in New York. Lots of rare retro games and consoles, a great selection of posters, and friendly staff!Thoroughly enjoyed visiting and would definitely do so again
One-stop shop for nostalgia, difficult-to-find items, and tested, vetted merchandise youre not willing to entrust to Ebay or Amazon. Theyre a great shop in the heart of the Village with a unique selection, knowledgeable staff, and a cozy neighborhood vibe. Support them and the necessary services they provide.
This place has everything and has been the most premier video game store I’ve visited in the city yet.Great spot for vintage games and good advice and repairs. Knowledgeable staff and if they don’t have what you want there’s a good chance they can get it or it might turn up
This is a great store. They have every videogame that you can think of. They have every system that was ever made. The salespeople are very knowledgeable. The store is bigger than most vintage videogame stores. The customers are also very nice and informative. Check this place out. This is one of my all time favorite stores. Ill be back for sure.
Really awesome place with awesome staff!-1 star for the clutter! ( Just kidding!) However, I felt at first glance when I walked in what felt like a home for gamers alike. I chatted with one employee named Dan and he was a chill dude. Really knows his stuff about the gaming community and made me welcomed here. I will definitely check this place out again at a later time, and I recommend that you should too if you are a seasonal gamer or just getting into the gaming industry.
An amazing place to visit, and find those olden goldies. Lots of cool stuff, amazing prices and a huge selection of old titles. Some nice signed consoles on display. May lack some of the more rare games, but you can find almost anything here, from rare Japanese titles to old black label PS and PS2 games. Not to mention older systems, parts for arcade sticks and more.
I brought a scratched Gamecube disc and they said there was no guarantees on fixing it. It cost $5 and I couldnt do it myself, so I was fine with taking the loss. But came home and the game worked perfectly!Theyve got a cool stock, are super helpful, and they saved me like $70 by fixing my disc so I didnt have to buy a new one. Definitely planning to come again!
Hefty and incredible collection of both retro and current video games. Staff is intimately familiar with the culture and history of the games they have. And they accept trade ins of old games if youre trying to offload your own collection. They even have pokewalkers and unopened factory sealed copies of playstation games.
This is a neat place to visit but after checking it out from time to time throughout its existence I cant really recommend shopping here. On the positive side of things, the selection of games is great and theres a lot of rare stuff to be found here. However, as much as Id like to support independent business I always find the prices for rare and retro games to be so much more than the prices online that its just not worth it. Understandable that youre paying for the convenience of just walking in and making an impulse purchase but thats about all theyre good for. And if youre looking for a newly released title you will essentially find the same prices as GameStop with not much to be found regarding deals or sales. And despite the high prices of their used games, if you ever try to sell your old games here you will receive just as little as GameStop, possibly even less.
I havent been to the physical store since I live in Virginia but I can honestly say from the last few years theyve been at Magfest this theyre one of my favorite video game stores. Sure, its a bit pricey, but I feel its worth it. Theyre selling games that arent being produced anymore, selling consoles that arent being produced anymore, so its bound to be more expensive since theres no guarantee of recurring stock or anything really. The ONLY issue Ive ever had with games bought from them was a couple years back when I bought pokemon ruby and sapphire for the gameboy advance. The internal batteries were dead so I couldnt set time. Other than that, the games worked perfectly as have all other games Ive bought from them. Theyve always been super friendly and helpful, always answered any questions Ive had, and Ive not seen them once seem to have a bad attitude with a customer no matter how difficult they were being. Ill very eagerly be waiting for next magfest where I can hopefully find more games for my pokemon collection! This year I bought silver and gold and they both work perfectly with no cosmetic damage to them.
Always happy stopping by here getting the anthentif old school video games that I can’t find anywhere else. The staff is super helpful and can give good advices. There were this one time where a disc was missing, the staff was very responsive and resolved the issue right away with a lot of professionalism. Love this store.
This place rules. Brought in a scratched Twilight Princess disc I had all but written off as unusable, and they refinished it in their machine - worked like magic. My disc plays flawlessly now. Awesome selection of old and new games too I got to browse waiting for the machine to finish. Super glad I discovered this place. The staff were immensely friendly and helpful as well.
I found this place while first browsing the internet for retro stuff. Visiting the store, you see all types of games for all systems old and new. The guys who work there are always helpful in finding what I need if they have it. They do repairs and upgrades too, check it out for yourself and see.
Although this place may be a bit expensive, it has a very wide selection of games and consoles. They have a large variety of limited edition and exclusive to only Japan games. This includes games and accessories that hasnt even been released in the U.S. yet. I would highly recommend this store. Also, the staff are more than willing to help, if you ask.
A great place to shop for games new and old. They put a lot of work into their refurbished consoles. Theyre knowledgeable and friendly, though they might be a bit cold to you if youre just a window shopper, lol. But they know their stuff, they do right by their paying customers, and if you live in NYC, imo they deserve your business.
This is without a doubt the best video game store NYC has and potentially one of the last few independent ones. The selection is phenomenal and you can get whatever your heart desires. From arcade components and old cartridges to triple A current titles, this store has it all. All in all wrapped into an almost museum of my gaming childhood this is the only place I like to purchase games from. You will feel relieved to leave your hard earned money with a store that is New York City and feels village instead of horrible GameStop or Best Buy. Do yourself, and the community the favor and shop here. Many times it’s even cheaper than going to the franchise retailers. This is the store I wish I had when I was a gaming 10 year old. And it is the store that maaaaany years later fills my heart with joy.
It is a great shop white an incredible selection for the serious gamer, but because these guys are so used to dealing with looky-Lous who just want to kill time or bs about games, their customer service skills are practically non existent. if you are there to buy, I recommend you know what you want and just ask for it, or look around. Dont go expecting to get recommendations, or advice choosing between products. Still just based on selection they will be the best place to go for most retro/ import gaming needs
Best video game store Ive ever been to. They have everything, from mainstream new releases to decades-old cult classics to limited edition physical copies of remasters.I recently picked up a PS2 there to revisit some of my favorites and check out the ones I missed -- they had multiple copies of everything I was looking for. Not to mention, they were really helpful in terms of getting me all the hardware I needed (HDMI converter, extra 3rd-party controller), and everything has a 30-day warrantee. To the complaints about it being cramped: first of all, its Manattan. Secondly, if anything, its an indication of all the great stock they have on hand.
If you are looking for a game, hands down the place to go. From Atari and NES to the Switch and PS4, they have everything. The store is so well stocked you will probably find what youre looking for. They also have lots of Amiibos, unlike Nintendo NYC. Staff is knowledgeable and helpful too.
Excellent store that sells video games from now and from 50 years ago! I went in to buy a ps2 Memory card. I first went to game stop and they explained that since the system was basically obsolete they didnt carry anything for ps2. I called this shop and the person knew, without having to check, his entire stock. They have parts for arcade systems, Nintendo games and much more. $10 minimum for credit cards. The store felt like a flashback to my childhood. Loved it!
Lots of vintage games and consoles but definitely a bit too expensive.Came here to buy Super Smash Bros. Melee and to see what else they had. Their inventory is great. They have all popular retro consoles and games, and lots of game memorabilia for gamers of all ages and walks of gaming life. The place is cozy, so expect rubbing elbows with a few people, but that only adds to the charm honestly. Most games are nicely displayed and easy to see. Some game discs, which dont have cases, are in a locked box, and the employees there have no problem opening the box and letting you search through them. They were also nice enough to let me see which release version the disc of Smash I was buying.I ended up buying the game for $60 USD, which came in a regular DVD disc case, not the original gamecube case. The original game case comes with a place for a memory card. Also the label was printed in a regular printer and was not by any means original, the disc was original though. The reason why Im sharing these details is to enforce my complaint about the price. You could get a Smash game with all the goodies: game case, booklet, and game for roughly $30 USD online. The reason why I didnt buy it online was because I didnt want to ask them to check the disc version; its hard to find on the disc, and these online sellers are usually other game store owners with lots of listings. (Left a photo to show version. Micro font on an already tiny disc)I also got Baten Kaitos for $40, and that was in great shape with original booklet and case; I think I got a good deal.I think this store is great, and some games can be found for a decent price, but a lot of games are way too expensive. Smash 64 was $70 for just the cartridge You can get a tested working game online for $15. I understand that this is a brick and mortar store with employees, but the mark-up seems high on a lot of their stuff. Especially since used condition doesnt really seem to affect the price in this store. You can get Smash 64 with a label which is barely visible for the same cost of a copy with an immaculate label.TLDR; Lots of variety, some good prices, but most things are highly overpriced and youre better off buying online. Still worth a visit.

2022-03-23Cute game store! Had a lot of my childhood classics. They also have a lot of games for a good price. The staff were friendly as well. The ones in the photos have collectors value or were just games I liked when I was younger.

2022-02-11I felt like I placed the master sword into the pedestal when getting inside. Old school environment, nice fellas over fhere, talking about Ramen Soup, lovely place, lots of nostalgia walking there and looking at games and consoles when I was a kid....

2021-11-28They have games here that you wont find anywhere else, especially limited run games. I always come here first to shop for video games before going anywhere else. They even have vintage/ retro games and game consoles here if you want to get a taste of video game history. Here are a few gems from my collection that I got from their store.

2022-08-14I had literally just walked in and the owner of the place was forcing me to wear a mask. The Covid emergency is over ( meaning no more people in the intensive care fyi ) but if you can’t go back to normal mentally please don’t open a physical store, there are many options in the metaverse.

2022-07-30Good place for games for sure. They have all kinds of games for all platforms, new released games. Also many old ages machine and games, reminds me old times. Not easy to find a place with many old machines nowadays.

2022-04-27This is my first visit, plenty of rare and exclusive games. Prices are fair on some items, others much more than I expected but I understand that some items might be more rare for them to get in stock. When I came in today they had some explicit music playing that made me feel a bit uncomfortable I didnt expect it I would have assumed that they would have played some cool video game music. I will stop by again not that many places to shop games from all generations.

2022-05-20Super cool shop. The owner/employee(s) were awesome! If you grew up playing games then this place will be a trip down memory lane. They have unopened boxes of games you havent seen since you were a child! They even have moded gameboys which offer a brighter screen and better battery life than the original. Dont sleep on this store, Definitely check them out!
