View in other cities:
Attended a wedding here. The view on the water was great and the food was fine. While we were all dancing as the party was winding down, the staff removed everything on the table. So when we got back the favors, and flower arrangements were gone. I didnt get a favor to take home. They gave no grace period from when the music stopped to them setting up for dinner. They kicked you out immediately. I understand they have to set up, but give people 5 mins.
Went here for a date night with my husband. We were both very excited to try View restaurant and looking forward to it because we both heard good things about it. The view of the water is very nice but that’s about it. The menu is very limited, not a lot of choices. The service is horrible. Our server came over to put in our drink order and food order and then she really didn’t come back around again until we got our dinner. I asked to see the drink menu to try a different drink and she never came back again to take my drink order. I ate my entire dinner with only water. The drink came when she took our dessert order. I tried two different drinks and both were not very good. Very lackluster and the first drink looked like it had chewed up orange slices in it and the glass looked dirty and sticky. The food was okay, nothing you can’t get anywhere else. The desserts were not that good. I got a cold lava cake, it wasn’t even heated. They also charge for bread. For the amount of money your paying there is a certain expectation. We are both extremely disappointed in View restaurant especially because we heard good things from everyone. I think this restaurant used to be good but has gone downhill.
The restaurant is beautiful on a spectacular setting on water. Service is amazing. Drinks are very good. Food is disappointing. Crab cakes appetizer were mushy and lacking chunks of crab. Crusty snapper entre was dry and basically tasted like a fish stick. Presentation also lacking. The creme Brule dessert was very good.
This is a gorgeous space with amazing views of the water. I really wanted to give it 5 stars, but it missed on service big time.As you can see from the pictures the food looked delicious and for the most part was really good. I enjoyed my lobster roll, Oysters and the Manhattan was one of the best I have had. Others at my table enjoyed the Thai Brussel Sprouts, Thai Calamari, Bang Bang Taco, Mahi Mahi Taco and Fish & Chips. Others at my table were not too pleased with the Duck Tacos, Hamburger and Lobster Bisque. Our main problem with our experience was how long everything took to make it to our table.About 45 minutes into our dining experience we had to ask for bread because our 5 year old nephew was beginning to meltdown, rightfully so.....us adults were hungry too.Drink service was slow as well. As we waited for main meal, we kept asking the staff when will we be served. Kept getting the same answer. Sorry, it will be out shortly....it wasnt.Eventually our waitress explained that they had two separate parties which slowed everything down. As a customer, I really didnt appreciate that excuse. It made me feel that my group, that was spending $300, wasnt as important as that group. To tell you the truth. If we were level set in the beginning I would have been much better with it. But it was as if none of the staff wanted to address it with us. The original manager on duty came over at some point and just said sorry we are working on it. The second manager Jennifer was excellent. She was empathetic and took a round of drinks off of the bill. Perhaps if she was on duty when we arrived we might have had a different experience. One other thing to note. My wife felt the ladies room was dirty.I am not looking to trash this place and I plan on going back; especially when the nice weather comes our way. I had been really looking forward to coming here and it was a disappointing first impression. Hopefully it will be a better experience moving forward.
Ordered take out today - stale lobster roll buns with hardly any filling- terrible baked clams- soggy fries. Tried to call and give feedback but the manager never picked up the line. Maybe in house food is better if you have a few drinks first- otherwise I say skip it
My family and I had 3:30 reservations on Easter Sunday. We received our food at 5:30. When it finally arrived, the filet mignon was raw, the lamb shank cold, and the vegetarian dish forgotten. When the dish came, it was not the pasta dish described by our server when taking the order. The bread basket came with the check. The View was so disappointing on a special holiday. We will not be going back.
Maureen was our server and she was incredible! Attentive but not intrusive. I called ahead for a nice belated valentines dinner with the wife. They had chilled champagne ready for us on arrival. We started the meal with a couple appetizers: raw oysters, pork belly, and crispy Tai Calamari. Each appetizer was flawless. Delicious, yet light. A perfect Segway into our main meals. We ordered pan seared scallops and the seared Scottish salmon. Once again, the seafood was fresh, perfectly prepared, and delicious. We finished the night with the maple creme brûlée. It was sweet, light, and a perfect way to end the night. When it came time for the check, we were told the champagne was on the house. Combine the delicious food, awesome service, beautiful waterfront scenery, along with great background music (classics like queen and Petty), and that makes for a perfect night. And the check? What would you expect to pay for this 5 star experience? You wouldn’t believe me if I showed you the receipt. Less than $200! I implore anyone looking for a nice dinner experience, come to View!
I’m so disappointed...and I really don’t want to write this review. They took the filet mignon and lobster pasta off the menu... their best two options. We have been going here for years and unfortunately won’t be going back any time soon. You hire a baby sitter and go out with your wife to a place you both love to only be massively let down. Bread service is now 5$, there are no table clothes anymore, and drinks at dinner were astronomical. This used to be one of the good spots but now it seems like they are pinching pennies. So sad.
Go for the view, but not the food or service! We left there hungry. We do not expect large portions, but everything we ordered was like a toddler portion.i waited so long for a drink, and it was wrong once I got it.The quality and taste of our food was mediocre as well.Service overall was not very attentive.
If you are looking for a nice restaurant with inside and outside seating, this place is for you. It’s right on the water offering a spectacular view of the bay. I loved the atmosphere and the fact that they offer live music. Food was good although vegetarian options were very limited. I took one star off for a slower than normal service but we were not in a rush so it was okay for us. Remember to make a reservation as this place can get quite busy on weekends. We tried to make a reservation but it was too late. Luckily, they had an empty table for us in the bar area, which is on a first come first serve basis. Overall, this restaurant is a great find and it left a very pleasant aftertaste ;)
I have been wanting to try this place since I moved to the area a year and a half ago. I also have to say that I have not really heard anything good about this place, food wise. So we started with the drinks, I had their version od a Moscow Mule, which was not very good, and my wife had a Dirty Martini that she said was very good. For an appetizer we split the Calamari dish which was pretty good.......For dinner my wife had the Lobster Pasta which was very good, and I decided to splurge and have the LOBSTER TRINITY, which iscrab stuffed butter poached 2 lb. lobster, montauk lobster-white truffle risotto, lobster-tarragon butter, which I have to say was just amazing. One of the best Lobster dishes that I ever had!!!!!!!!All in all, I have to say that the View restaurant, is more then just the view, and, oh, the high prices that I had heard about!!!!!!I am surely going to eat there again, and I hope soon!!!!!!!
This is another hidden gem. The restaurant is beautiful. The views are amazing and the food is fabulous. Along with top notch service makes this one of my favourites spot for a romantic dinner. With outdoor seating and live music on summer weekends you will absolutely adore this beautiful locale.
The name says it all. The View looks out onto the great South Bay. All staff was courteous and attentive. The seating area was spacious and clean (very comfortable seats) and the way the windows wrapped around the place it gives the illusion of being on a boat out in the water. Very cool. The food was very good. I had Manhatten clam chowder followed by the Baja Montauk fluke tacos. I will say the tacos had too much chipotle flavor (im not the biggest fan of chipotle and prefer to be able to taste the fish in a taco)but the candied red onions were such an amazing flavor! My dining partners had ceasar salad (delicious!), The Asparagus Bisque (also delicious), the bistro burger (good) and the Crab Cake burgers (very very good). We were there for lunch and the Two Course menu was more than enough for the price. All in all, I loved it. I feel it would be a great place to be in warmer weather, too. Hopefully, Ill be there during that time to give an updated review. :)
Nice on water but foods goodNice Wine , Wednesday is 1/2 price wine what a deal when the wine is 12 a glass think about that dealService is great the waitress next to us just poured wine even though it had nothing to with her, pretty young women, great jobThe head guy was great, kept making sure all was greatSorry 1st tome there no 5 stars but Im coming back to aee if it happens againGreat job veiw
Even in a heavy downpour of rain the valet parking staff is very friendly, the restaurant is very clean, plenty of help, good help, I might add theyre very fast and efficient. Everything is handicap friendly, the food service for the brunch was unbelievable !! wonderful tables setups, wonderful views of the water, delicious food. meat that can be cut with the fork, breakfast items on 12 ft of tables. Mimosas, coffee, and tea constantly flowing. Rolls, cakes, and pastries on another 5 Ft worth of tables, choices of meats on another table. I havent been there in over 7 years most of which would be for dinner and this was my first Sunday brunch (you need to make reservations) and it is all well worth it !!
WOW WOW WOW. My Wife picked this place out... amd she always finds the best places to go.Food was GREAT! had the seafood players chefs burger, penni pasta and pasta of lobster. Brought the kids as well.. service was awsome , clean environment, right by the ocean amwoth ocean views. We will return. Thank you so much
Ordered stuffed Long Island clams and calamari appetizers. Where were the clams? Seemed like breadcrumbs and bacon. Calamari was over sweet. Dinners were yummy. Swordfish, double pork chops, shrimp and scallop pasta, salmon. Dessert was disappointing. Hazelnut tort lacked the gelato side with no explanation. Bourbon soaked pound cake had no bourbon. We were seated near a door, and they wouldn’t change our seats, so servers were in and out all night.
We went for brunch and we had 11 people sitting together. We all went up for the buffet and the food was amazing. I am an extremely picky eater, and my plate was full. So many different options. It wasnt closed in, there was a lot of space to move around. Then there is a whole outdoor part with a great view. Totally recommend ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
This was my second visit. I had a great experience the first time. Last night we sat for 20 minutes before anyone came to greet us and he wasn’t even our waiter. He took our drink order as a courtesy and then gave our drinks to another couple! He then took our appetizer order and it took another 30 minutes. Almost one hour waiting. Ended up leaving and dining at a local Sushi restaurant. Beautiful view but service was horrendous for the price point. Save your money.
The ambiance is excellent! The food is ok. BUT...In the past, I have called and they would say walk ins are welcomed and no reservations necessary for two. I was meeting a friend of mine who drove 45 minutes to get there. When we got there, they said they had a private event and would not open to the public until 6:30. This has happened a few times. Always call and speak to a manager in advance to find out if they have private events. Also be prepared to pay $75 for a bottle of wine that is worth $15, i.e., Meiomi Pinot Noir. Not nice
Only allowing vaccinted people to eat at their restaurant. What a joke considering the vaccine has been accessible to people for quite some time and non vaccinated people have been eating here along with vaccinated people. I would never give this place a dollar atfer this, good luck staying in business.
The server/staff was friendly and venue was nice but we were seated at 12:30p and didn’t get our food until almost 2pm (1:50pm). We ordered a Lobster roll and shrimp tacos... Thought an hour and a half would be enough time to grab a bite to eat before heading to a 2:30p wedding venue appointment. Have not yet eaten the food but will be dining in the car to not miss our appointment. I wish they just would have not seated us with how busy they were hosting weddings.
This is a hidden gem, not so easy to see right off Shore Drive servicing Oakdale and the adjoining areas of Suffolk County. Located by the water with great views. Valet parking is available. Good food, nice staff, and public restrooms. Clean facilities. Great for brunch and parties. We will definitely be going back.Thank you to the owner for responding. You have a great and unique business. We look forward to going back.Eric San José
Sat outside and the name of the restaurant suits it perfectly. The view was amazing. The service was okay, not terrible, but not excellent. The food was good. I would definitely go back since the service could have been due to being short staffed or just an off night.
We got to the venue on time and on entering we were promptly escorted to our table...the dining hall is well kept...it is clean. Our server was amazing (can’t remember her name...maybe melody or Melanie-it was a M name) as she made the whole experience warm and welcoming. Our food was amazing..I had steak and mashed potato with asparagus and it was superb..my partner had the salmon over veges with mashed potato on the side and he loved it!! He gushed about the staff just as much as I did. I would recommend this restaurant and looking forward to going back as the weather gets warmer to experience outside
They now require proof of vaccination to enter. Im shocked that the lessings family would reduce themselves to these communist measures, over a vaccine that clearly doesnt work anyway. Regardless of your view on whether or not you choose to get the vaccine, you should stand by an individuals right to choose. Go eat someplace that isnt violating their employees and customers personal rights.
Our book group celebrated reading our 75th book today with a lovely lunch at View. Our server, Tina, was extremely pleasant, friendly and patient. Our Gang of Eight( Bookends ) was seated at large round table in what felt like a private alcove with a spectacular view! We spent three hours enjoying good food, service and a beautiful view. We even managed to discuss the book! Tina was attentive but never intrusive and allowed us to linger. Thank you for a most memorable afternoon.
Dinner for 6 adults, great cocktails & draft beer, lobster bisque & corn chowder A+, filet mignon done perfectly, scallops serving on the small side but delicious, oysters on the half shell fresh & delicious, could have easily had another dozen! Vegan option serving size could have been larger but good. Wait staff was top notch! Great view right on the water, even on a rainy evening. Fireworks happened to be going off as we exited! A+ experience!
We were fresh off a weekend in new England, so we stumbled in on hopes of having some exceptional clam chowder. While Happy hour was a pleasant surprise, the $1 oysters and the libations were the only fortunate part of our meal food wise. The chowder was ok but below expectation. The shrimp in the cobb salad had a glossy coating and a thawed out vibe making the salad appear fast food chain-ish. I was hoping for a more farm to table experience. No immediate hurry to return...
This was the second time that I had dinner at the View. The service was excellent and the food was ok. My daughters filet mingon was way overcooked and dry. My wife enjoyed her lobster roll. I kept it simple with a lobster bisque (should have tried the chowder) and cob salad (should have had the scallops). It is a nice place to have a drink and watch the boats.
This was my second time here and once again was not disappointed!!High class restaurant and excellent food!! Beautiful views of the water and the staff is always welcoming!! I had the short ribs the first time and they were so good!! This time I had the lobster pasta, Wow Delicious!! Gotta try the peanut butter cheese cake!!! Will definitely return!!!!
Went there for Brunch to celebrate my uncles B-day and the food was really good, its right off the water so you get the amazing view as well. I guess thats why its called The View lol. The staff was warm and caring , i would definitely would recommend going and dinning there5/5 👌🏾
The only reason I give 3 stars is because the views are beautiful and the food was ok but stillNot worth the price point. I used to go more frequently but haven’t been back in a while and decided to go since I know from the service to the food you could always count on a great experience. I was so disappointed and probably won’t be back for a while. The food was mediocre and the time we had to wait for our drinks and food to arrive was ridiculous.
If you love horrible service than this is the place for you! We waited 15 minutes before our waitress even came to the table. We were told we would get bread brought to our table and it didnt come until the food came over 20 minutes later. We had to ask for napkins and silverware after they forgot to give it to us. They forgot my fries that came with the meal and I had to show the manager that the menu said it came with them because she did not believe me. Other people who arrived after us were being waited on and received better service than us. Never even received an apology or a reason for the horrendous wait or forgetfulness.
A very easy going fine dining experience. Matthew was very attentive although was slammed with a table of 14 while other servers stood around. Stand ouys were the shrimp and scallop pasta (inside hack...ask to have it made with Farro instead of pasta) and believe it or not, fish and chips. Huge portion and not greasy in the least.
While the actual view is amazing and the staff was wonderful. My husband and I came here for our anniversary dinner. There were many fruit flies interrupting me and swarming around my wine and food which made for a relaxing night out, not very relaxing. The food was also not as good as I was expecting. Not sure I would ever go back. Definitely disappointing.
We made a reservation using OpenTable. We told the Host that we made a reservation that way and our last name. We didnt get credit. Soup was cold. Our meals were very delayed. The waiter Jason may have overlooked us. The food was not hot. A glass a white wine was bitter and tasted like soap. A nice view was the only good part of our visit.
BE Careful if youre gluten free. We had lunch outside which was beautiful. Great service and friendly staff. BUT the lunch menu had ONE thing that I could eat that was gluten free, (I have a gluten allergy) which was a salad. It was fine, but I would have loved to have the lobster roll as my friends did. I asked if they could make that gluten free but they couldnt?? Ive eaten at the Oakdale Yatch Club down the street and they easily made a lobster roll gluten free. On top of it all, the salad came with croutons which I had to send back so they could remake it. Gluten free dining is obviously not a priority there and certainly the cook doesnt seem to understand that gf people would like more of a choice than a salad!!
You can’t please all the people all the time. This was one of those times. I’m sure people go there all the time and it’s grand. My two Mahi-mahi tacos on my first and what will be my only visit, ( 5:30 on a Sunday 2 people no reservation, 8/15/2021 at half occupancy including bar and outside dining, with plenty of staff hustling about) were good. Everything else but the view where the complete opposite. On a 1-10 it was a 2. So add half a star. My two cents.
Wanted to love the food was here once before for a shower, however, the ladies room was a disaster it was a Sunday around 1230pm. The calamari we ordered was so tough and unchewable. We sent it back the new batch wasnt anybetter. The crabcakes we ordered were delicious as was the fish and chips, though the fries were not hot. The mahimahi tacos were way too spicy and aOne very small strip of fish. The did take the calamari off our bill. Beautiful view but definitely a disappointment.
The outdoor seating absolutely amazing ! Beautiful view of water, boats. The customer service was amazing very nice people especially in this day in time my husband and I are African American and was a little skeptical to go but I’m so happy we did even thou we were the only African Americans present we were treated with smiles, and respect. Told everyone I know about this establishment. Beautiful place so glad we went!
The one star is only for the oceanfront seating and great weather.Waited over an hour for a table even though we were told 20 minutes. Couldn’t figure out how to put two tables together to accommodate and then wanted to seat us indoor even though we told them outdoor seating. Service was mediocre at best. No shot of getting drink refills. Our waitress avoided us because it took 1 1/2 hrs to get our food. Tables were seated after us and had eaten and left before our food came. The food was terrible. Mahi tacos had a this slice of fish in them, total joke. Menu has been reduced.Used to be our go to place, won’t be back!
Just bad. The food was like wedding food its the only way to describe it. Fries tasted like they were 2 days old, baked clams had no clams and the sangria had to be out of a can. We complained to them and they comped our meal which was very nice, our server was also really nice.
I keep going back to give it one more chance. Today was my last day here. The servers are all so polite, but unfortunately without fail, the kitchen is backed up. You will wait an hour for an appetizer, 20 minutes for your drink, and I recommend asking for your bill when your food is served otherwise consider it a 3 hour meal. The atmosphere is great, the food is good, and the servers are friendly, but the wait is so long to receive your food. For me it causes too much irritability when you want to eat and move on with your day. Covid or no covid, I think more staff is needed, and more kitchen help is needed. Between the large parties and the personal seating, I think they bit off more than they can chew.
Unfortunately it seems View has been missing the mark lately. Food was delicious but served cold. Service really needs some attention. Our server took our order and disappeared... Ordering drinks required flagging down the manager. This place used to be better. I really want the View to do well. Lesser’s has a strong brand to protect... I’ll hope they’ll address their obvious staffing shortcomings soon.
Outdoor seating is awesome and the did was great. Would have liked to see a surf and turf option in the menu - it was just one our the other. Desserts looked delicious and the drinks were well poured. Overall, a great experience. Note that the parking is a bit tight (especially when you have a pickup or large SUV) but not too bad.
Solid food, good wine list, great service, and like the name says, the best view around. Also, a beautiful dining room. Im updating this review. Had dinner there last night, the new Lobster Shack menu is fabulous. The food and service were amazing and the Lobster roll was as good as any I have had, and priced reasonably. I think theyre gonna have a great season.
BEWARE the server tried to scam us into double tipping with our bill. She automatically added a 25% tip into our total without telling us. Good thing we checked the receipt first or else we would have ended up paying a 40% tip. We were planning on tipping anyway, but the sly dishonesty was very off putting. When we pointed it out to her, SHE KNEW she got caught and did not even apologize. She just mumbled and quickly ran away to fix it.Other than that the food was okay, but the greasiness did not sit well. The Fish and chips were drenched in oil and made the batter mushy. However, I do have to say that their fries are delicious. There were a lot of overpowering flavors in terms of char and sweetness. The Filet Mignon sandwich was not real filet mignon, just a charred skirt steak that tasted burnt. The Bistro burger was also burnt and the jam overpowered the taste of burger, making it taste unbearably sweet. A lot of their dishes lacked balance. The crispy Thai calamari was doused in so much sweet chili sauce to the point that it was soggy. You could barely taste the calamari itself and each bite oozed out a mouthful of sauce. It tasted like you were drinking straight honey. While it is a beautiful restaurant, I personally think that it is not worth your time or money.
The great staff here did an amazing job of making our wedding day special. From the signature drinks to the extensive menu, everything was excellent. The staff made sure we were well fed and looked after in the hustle and bustle of taking photos, greeting family etc. We had so many people tell us that our wedding was a great time and the food was top notch. We highly recommend The View to all!
Went for a senior college night last night, the food was atrocious. One of the worst non-seasoned food I’ve ever had eating out before. This place is overpriced too, what the heck did we pay for? Rice tasted like literally nothing, portions were small as heck and their steak was okay at best. This is coming from a non critical person when it comes to food. I’m disappointed, seriously.
I want to start by saying that we are frequent visitors to the View. I brought my wife there yesterday hoping for another great dinner experience on Valentines Day but unfortunately this did not happen. The oyster crackers we were given for our lobster bisque were stale. The butter that I was given for my Surf and Turf meal seemed watered down and tasted like cardboard. The Lobster lacked any taste and the Filet Mignon was not up to the usual View standard. Its unfortunate but we may have to find another restaurant to call our favorite moving forward.
My boyfriend took me here for my birthday. Its a very beautiful and romantic place with a nice water view. It has a fire place and a water fall inside the restaurant, great for taking pictures with your loved one. Place is very clean The waitress, Blanca, was outgoing and friendly. I definitely recommend this place... Best birthday ever!!.
Really wanted to like this place. Maybe we went on an off day. Sunday in Sept. Yes, view is great. Too bad once inside the place the view is the tent they set up for outside dining. I ordered their Lobster Bisque - it tasted like water -- it had absolutely no flavor. If I wasnt with my parents, I think I might have asked the chef to come and taste it - there is no way they could possibly serve a soup with zero flavor. My mom had the salmon it was swimming in a thin red sauce - again, not right. Apparently their burger is good. Overly priced for sure!! Sorry Snapper Inn wasnt available because this was a complete waste.
We went here last night for dinner. We ordered the fillet mignon steak sandwiches that were supposed to be on toasted garlic ciabatta roles with sautéed onions and mozzarella cheese. This is not whaat we received, we received hard rolls, no onions and it did not taste like filet mignon. When I made the complaint to the waitress, who was very nice and courteous she said she would let the chef know. No other response from the manager or the chef. I am sure many people like this restaurantbut I would not return. We were very disappointed.
Although the waiter was very apologetic, theres still no excuse for us to wait over an hour for our food - no matter how busy it was. My wife was served her dish and the rest of our party waited another half-hour for our meals. When mine arrived, it was at best lukewarm, the clams were overcooked, chewy and my request for pepper and grated cheese went ignored until after I nearly finished my meal. My first and last visit to that restaurant, not a good experience.
Well unfortunately I went on a rainy night so really couldnt enjoy the views but can only imagine how good they are ....I went there with party of 12 and we all whacked up the apps which were delicious then we ordered dinner n there wasnt 1 complaint I had the tuna over Chinese black rice n it was delicious and my buddy had the swordfish n it was the best I ever had....
What a terrible experience we had at this place the waitress by accident got the drink on my friend all over her head , got all wet so embarrassing, we never got and apologize from the management. At least she should it have her free drink … and it was her birthday… never ever again .
My families experience unfortunately was not good. The food was not good. It was overly crowded and the line for the buffet was insane. And to make matters worse when you got to the food the tray was empty. So we didnt try certain foods because we didnt want to wait one the 30 minute line. Im sad to say that the service was not the best either, we would ask some guys for butter or cream cheese because it was not at the buffet table and they would never come back. However I can say their was one guy who we tipped well that went out of his way to try and help our big group even though they do not have personal waiters for each table (which other places weve gone, they do have a waiter per table). Only drinks they offered was water, Mimosa, and coffee. Anything else is an extra charge. The plates that were clean came back with food still on it. The food was average, weve had better at other places for sure. The view itself didnt have the most amazing view but you can get descent pictures. There was not enough variety of food and the egg station, was dessert station and carving station were disappointing.
Just went here for a wedding. I have to say the wait staff were among the nicest and most efficient I have ever experienced at a wedding and I’ve been to many. They were genuinely smiling and pleasant and very accommodating. The food was great too and we have awesome water views! So happy the weather was good! Thank you View!
We were welcomed apon arriving. Baked clams were basically all clam flavored bread crumbs with not a bit of clam to be found. Lobster Roll per my wife was okay but her fries were hard as nails. My fish and chips...cod itself was fresh and okay, the fries were soggy. Aggravating though were the waiters and waitresss taking a shortcut right behind my back as they went to the kitchen and other customers. Hey Social distancing is important at this time. The waitress herself was very pleasant though. Might be a while before we go back.
Drinks awesome had the steak sandwich was really good split between 3 ppl we all agreed it was good fries great service e great great atmosphere and view I should give it 5 stars but I have to hold back because there might be better near by........Rob thr bartender wS awesome.
Beautiful ambience, extremely average food quality, and downright awful wait and bar service. I will say tho that the matred was extremely courteous and professional, and no I did not complain to him as I was with a larger group and didnt want to draw any special attention to myself. Pan seared scallops only seared on one side, had to bus my own table twice (after waiting more than 20 minutes for a straw and a bread plate, I gave up). The bartender didnt know how to make a very basic whiskey cocktail and actually needed me to explain the recipe and how to make it...EVERY BAR has a cocktail guide behind it and if you cant find one then Google it for Gods sake. My wife asked if the chicken sorrentino was breaded (shes gluten free for medical reasons), the waiter said hed check and never got back to us and then 30 minutes later served her the breaded chicken, when she asked if it was breaded because it clearly looked like it was he said oh no its just egg washed, but Ill go double check and then he never got back to us...I finished my entire dinner by the time the bus girl was able to being her a piece of grilled chicken. The mozzarella tomato tower appetizer...we ordered two...one came over a bed of greens...the other had no greens and when my wife asked for some more balsamic glaze they brought balsamic dressing which absolutely ruined the rest of the dish, it was pathetic. For the prices that this place charges they should be downright ashamed of themselves, we wont be back but if youre willing to accept C+ food with D- service and an A+ ambience then this is your place!
We met with friends at this restaurant for a meeting. This spot was recommended to us by a friend. Well, we were not disappointed. The staff were extremely nice and we felt good. The food was just great. We enjoyed every moment and we will visit this place again. Highly recommended.
I have lived around the corner from the restaurant for most of my life. The setting is beautiful, waterfront views from just about every table. I am hoping this review will help make the restaurant improve. The restaurant is noisy. We were there for Sunday Brunch, 2 wedding showers sharing the same space. Maybe there should be a more closed in space for private gatherings. The valet, hostess, waitress all acted as if we were inconveniencing them. I wondered if they liked their jobs. We had to go get our waitress twice, for drinks and to pay. The bus boy was very attentive. The Buffet table was messy and not cared for. There were no really fresh food choices.I hope management sees this and makes things better because I really would love to go back and have a good experience.
This is by far one of the best dining establishments I have ever patronized. The food is fantastic, the drinks are fabulous, the staff is stellar, and the manager Joe is an absolute doll, always making sure the customers are happy. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone and everyone. Youll be hard pressed to find a better experience.
Our daughter had her surprise bridal shower at the View!It was a great time from the minute she came into the room until the party was over.. the Brunch was delicious, the deserts were amazing! The whole staff was just fantastic .. Thank you to everyone involved at the View for such a memorable afternoon.
Been going here with my wife for a while and it’s a good place, service is great but the food isnt consistent, taste wise.My wife had the calamari which was good but the portions is very little for what there asking. I got the Cobb salad which comes with shrimp and felt it was expensive 18 dollars for a large salad that only brings 3 mid size pieces of shrimp. It really would be better if it came with 5 pieces. For some reason it was very salty as well, maybe it’s there house dressing? So I returned it and got the corn chowder soup and was disappointed with how bland it was, and felt it was a soup that I could get at a corner deli, told the waiter what was supposed to be in the soup and was told potato, corn, crab, onion, , well I definitely misssed the potatoes and crab meat.Once again I believe the view would be way better if all the food would have the same or close portions and taste could be better. The seating outside could be Better if the tables would have umbrellas for those that would like to sit outside but can’t be in the sun.In the end the owner did his best to accommodate which will make me come back again. Hopefully the portions, taste in some of there items will get better
Went here for restaurant week and the food was great. Service was a little off. The staff was nice but we were all the way to the side that we had to wait a big longer than usual in between the food and also the check. The manager was nice to give us another complimentary round of drinks due to the wait
Interior was inviting and cute. They turned down the lights a little too dim. Waitstaff had no knowledge of gluten and kept having to check with kitchen as to whether or not dishes were gluten free. Menu was not labeled which made things inconvenient for all involved. Waitress advised that duck tacos were a good option without the shell but when they arrived I pointed out that they had hoisin on it and had to find out if soy sauce used was gluten free, which it wasnt. I watched the other guests in my party eat as I sat with nothing. Drinks/wine took forever. I was advised that risotto dish was flavored with lobster bisque and that contained gluten. Their menu was not very gluten-free. They specially made my dish of scallops and risotto, which came out very tasty, but had a lot of sand in the scallops. Creme brulee was okay, but the sugar on top was not hardened, seemed moist. It was actually very disappointing. The place seemed to have too many people in it. There was litter on the floor. Bathrooms were out of toilet paper and hand napkins. Also music was WAAAAYYYY TOOO LOUD.
Reservation for outside had to sit inside. Server was very nice , but made and error on one meal. Meal was brought out quickly but was the same steak as the rest of us and was terrible. Very nice place but just seemed like the staff couldnt keep up. Waited a very long time for entrees to come out, server did acknowledge the kitchen was running behind. Shannon who bussed the table, and the valet was probably the best part of the evening. Unfortunately was kinda disappointed. ☹️
Love the place but our service was bad our server was rude and not pleasant to have he ignored our questions was on his phone and he would walk with hot plates over my 11 month old baby i believe his name was Julian. He couldnt speak very good English at all. I put 4 stars because the place is beautiful place for people to enjoyed but i think restaurants should have people that love to work on what they do not what they need and people should work on loving customers services.
The view is nice, the food not so much. I took my wife for lunch on a Monday and had a bad experience with tuna sandwiches and fries. About an hour after leaving both my wife and I started having stomach pains. She had noticed the lettuce from her sandwich was not very fresh and the fries seemed drenched in oil. I hope we werent served Sundays leftovers that were reheated but...we were not happy.
The view itself is definitely great. Came here for Sunday brunch. The buffet food is good. Cubed potatoes would have been better if they were crispy. But then again, Im not a chef 😊 Ran out of bacon pretty quick. Should maybe keep a tray on standby. Not a bad place at all, Id come back.
The place lives up to its name. Great views of the water while dining outside, and from many seats inside. Ive eaten here once for restaurant week, and once for Sunday brunch. Both times the food was outstanding. The service was excellent as well. Will definitely be back!
My colleague & I parked to go and spend lots of money at this restaurant drinks with lunch. The so called manager walked over to what I thought. He was going to ask us to be seated. With a snobbish attitude he said. Im the manager and you have to have a mask on. We were 30ft from anything or anyone or anything outdoors. Everyone eating wasnt wearing a mask less than 6ft from each table. We had the intention to film for our YouTube channel at your restaurant spend a lot of money with high reviews. Your manager is the soul reason for this horrible experience & review. What couldve been a great video for you failed without starting. You lost $400.00 plus tip, of cash we had the budget to spend.Short man with grey hair & glasses HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE 🤮
Made a reservation for my family of 10 people. We started at the bar with a skunk beer. Then went to dinner and had good apps. Dinner was served . 2 people had duck with some sweet sauce that wasn’t that great. 2 people had steak which was not tender. A captain and coke came out with flat soda. Rather disappointed with a $700.00 bill. Will not be back.
I love to support to small businesses especially during these crazy times but I will NOT be visiting this restaurant again. Upon arrival, you are greeted by a very tense maître d’ (male) who said sets the evening up to be a failure. You then have the busboys who don’t clear your plate and waiters who are running around with their heads cut off. You finally get your food and it’s DISGUSTING. No flavor whatsoever, ice cold, and the food tastes microwaved. save your money and go somewhere else. Not worth the money at all. I don’t know what happened to this restaurant but it is severely taking a turn for the worse
Beautiful restaurant, location on the water perfect. Wait staff very efficient. After the appetizers the food was terrible. Swordfish looked like 2 small boneless pork chops, sticky risotto, fatty short ribs. We took friends there for dinner & was embarrassed. They enjoyed the dessert. Very disappointed, the food used to be top notch.
Was really excited about dining here but left feeling nothing but disappointment. Service was slow and felt the waitress care less. Drinks took 15 minutes or more each time we ordered. Napkins weren’t at table when we were sat, water glasses sat empty for most of the dinner. Most disappointed in the lobster pasta. Will not be returning or recommending.
Very poor service tonight, salmon tasted a little hard & the filet was over cooked, outside patio was very dirty, food & paper on the ground, appetizers took forever to get. Maybe they had no help in the kitchen, they did have enough people standing around in the hallway, sorry but could have been better.
Such a romantic meal. We made reservations and were able to sit right by the windows. The service and food was on point. Especially liked how the manager/owner? Was very hands on and made frequent rounds. We never get a date night sans toddlers so we took our time enjoying appetizer, dinner, and dessert. It was all well timed and unrushed. I dont know why we waited so long to come after they changed names but we will be back again. Its def pricey but I never mind when you get what you pay for.
Beautiful spot and great food with the exception our swordfish was over cooked, then came back undercooked. Other reviewers seemed to express the same issues with this dish. I’m shocked a fish restaurant can’t make an awesome swordfish dish. The appetizers were great and the short rib special was really tender and yummy. Desserts were yummy. I’d go back but I wouldn’t order the swordfish.
View took excellent precautions because of Covid19 for our bridal shower for my granddaughter.I was told a new filtration system was in place, everything cleaned and sanitized before we arrived. We supplied masks and hand sanitizer. Service was excellent... Staff wore gloves and masks... Food was excellent!!!Thank you VIEW for making our bridal experience for my granddaughter perfect ♥️!!!!
I really like this place, have been a couple of times and the view is just perfect for a nice lunch or dinner. The reason I give only 4 stars is because I think they need a little more variety in their menu. The drinks are pretty good. But overall really good just a little pricey but worth it.
I had my wedding there at Sunday Brunch.. I had about 70 people with no DJ and we had a fabulous time. We got married outside and Jimmy gave us the back half of the restaurant. Everyone enjoyed themselves and the Sunday Brunch was spectacular. Everything you wanted from breakfast to lunch to fish...
For those concerned with Covid, do not dine here. While our waitress wore her mask correctly, a handful of other staff did not have their noses covered by the mask and some were repeatedly touching it on their face, not with an effort to cover their nose. They also did not monitor people walking out of their seats without masks. We had two couples without masks walk right past our table. They also gave diners their own QR code menu that seemed to defeat the purpose since everyone would touch the reusable QR code laminated paper that was put in front of their seats.
Been here a few times, food is always good, service is always good. But this time i went my experience was better than ever, because of the bus boy. He was a tall, fit, good looking red head boy, he was always on top of everything, asking if everything was good, truly was amazing. This restaurant better not lose him because he is special.
THE VIEW ROCKS!!!Dinner going to the View in Oakdale so Arrived at 9:40 and we were told they decided to close early due to a problem in kitchen at 9:30 and while now being rushed to make the restaurant around the corner the wharf, the VIEW hostess Brittany came running outside to catch us and apologize and gave a gift certificate for a future visit. My boyfriend and I have over 50 years of combined restaurant experience. We have seen a lot. We were impressed. Brittney and The View... Class act ! We will definitely return and repost once we have had a dinner there!
Annual Christmas/Holiday party there. Truly mediocre food and semi-ept table service. Yes, yes, a lot of people all at once (other clamorous groups here and there also, and conversation required shouting), so perhaps the staff were stressed and... Oh, maybe Ill raise the review to two stars, but no more than that.Dirty plates sat and sat and we had to ask they be cleared. Yeah. Some others remarked on the peculiarity of the baked clams appetizer (bacon?), but I was willing to say they probably used the very best bread crumbs, if nothing else. I had another appetizer, and remarked about it that a December tomato is about as welcome as an August mosquito. No matter what entree you chose, you got a tiny handful of overcooked green beans and a rice pilaf that must have come from a box.Nice view (as in the name), but I was unfortunate enough to be seated facing a wall and what little view I had was in a reflection from the glass of a framed picture. No, I take back that second star.
Waiter never came back to fill water glasses. Seem like he didnt want my business. I have been coming to the view for a very long time. By far the worst service. Im on ur mailing list and u send me a coupon on my birthday. Unfortunately I will think twice about going back!!! 👎
I cant say enough about the View, the Setting, the Service, The Food all without a Flaw. It amazes me that no matter what time of day, Night weekends the Place is always Consistent with its Food being Spot on Delicious. The Management is always checking to make sure all is well, even if they spot something they dont like at your table, they will change it without notice and make it right. Its just a Amazing experience, and the Fantastic Water Views and Sunsets, just Incredible! I highly recommend making this one for a List of Places to eat and Drink,Happy Hours are one of my Favorites Here as well, the Happy Hour Specials on the Menu are a must Try!
Came here for dinner, which started off with a nice, elegant feel. Honestly the menu sounds delicious, lobster pasta and root beer short ribs. All the time you spend waiting for your food does make you question if the wait is worth it. When you get your small portion, it has been confirmed that the waiting time and over inflated prices are NOT worth it. However you are paying for a beautiful View. After eating a beautiful dinner The Bar scene, a small area is patrolled by a private security company. Within 15 minutes a member of my party was kicked out of the establishment. He hadnt touched anyone in the bar or raised his voice at all. The security staff, which wore PSA shirts along with most of the young staff seemed to enjoy the encounter of yelling and screaming at all of my party of 6 people. This was similar to an experience at Maxwells owned by the same family. This was over a dress code issue, which did not make sense because the same security staff checked out ID when we walked in and we were all wearing the same exact clothing.View - 4Food - 3Bar Scene - 1
Ot was my first time at this location. Lovely setting on the water, great service and atmosphere from the bar to the table. I especially enjoyed the chinoaserie on display. The only area I would ask to be improved by adding more selections would be the brunch buffet. The desert selection was minimal and looked picked through. I will go back and give it a second try.
We Went for dinner for Father’s Day after seeing good reviews. View was beautiful, food was ok not great. service is slow and some staff were rude. Waitress kept saying sorry because they were so busy, but that’s not my problem. Food was cold got reheated after asking but then didnt taste the same. Food is way overpriced. $10 for pasta with butter? Never going back again. Thankfully my husband enjoyed most of his meal although his steak was over cooked but we didn’t say anything bc we just wanted to leave.
Went to this place because i heard the food was great. I ordered a chicken sandwich with tomatoes, mozzarella, basil and balsamic. Got home and had an uneasy stomach. Woke up that night and threw the entire meal back up. Proceeded to throw up the entire following day. Called my friend who i went to lunch with and he told me that he was feeling uneasy all day and also threw up. He got a crab sandwich. Ive worked in the dining industry so i can understand having a bad cut of food, but two in one table sitting? something is wrong. Definitely wont recommend.
Last night we ended up at The View in Oakdale though if wasnt our intention but boy did we end up enjoying this wonderful restaurant. We arrived after sunset so we didnt get to actually enjoy the view as it is situated right on the water. The staff was amazing and attentive and supported our choices for appetizers, crab cakes and lobster mac and cheese which were perfect for the 4 of us. The waitress helped guide us with our choices for dinner which included a filet mignon cooked to perfection, short ribs special which was off the charts and a shrimp and pasta special that came to the table with clams instead of shrimp. The server had apparently taken the wrong dish from the kitchen but without much concern on our part as my friend likes clams too, the correct dish was delivered in a matter of minutes with apologies and we were told to enjoy the extra plate! A kale salad was enjoyed by all as well.I cannot express how good our dinners were! We finished up with sharing a dessert called Dancing with the Devil which was more than enough for the four of us after this wonderful dinner! We all look forward to returning to this gem of restaurant when we can also enjoy the View as well!
Went here for a baby shower. The view was beautiful, the service was pretty good, the food was meh. The choices for the party were not very accommodating to the general public. Mahi mahi with nuts and sauce, chicken with spinach and mozzarella, and pork. There was no vegetarian option, and this with allergies were not accommodated with a different meal, or even to modify an existing choice, but just offered the choices that did not have the offending food.
Lovely place on the water. Feels like you are on vacation when you eat here and the weather is nice enough to eat outside . Lovely atmosphere inside too with a fireplace. Food is good to great depending on what you order and Sunday brunch is fabulous! Great place to have a small event.
Just ate here and ordered the surf and turf for 60 dollars. Didnt finish the filet mignon so decided to take the rest home along with other leftovers. Got home and its not even in the bag. Feeling very gypped and cheated. Expected allot more for the high price of dining in this restaurant. I will not be coming back.,.......... Update....10/31/18.. sent my email well over a week ago and I am still waiting for the gift certificate... I think the response from the owner was not sincere and just a farce for my review. At this point a gift certificate wouldnt even matter. Id rather just not come back at all..... Update..4/19... Still no response from the owner and no gift certificate. It was a complete fake and false response from the owner just to make them look good.. Shame shame.. I will never go back to this dump.
Beautiful restaurant, the service is okay, nice bar area with a DJ, and the food couldve been better. My chicken parm was dry and the sauce tasted like it came out of a can.If youre looking for a nice casual place by the water to have dinner and drinks The View is an okay choice.
The View hosted our wedding on August 20th, 2016 and they did a phenomenal job!!! Jimmy, the owner, was so friendly and attentive with our planning leading up to the wedding day. Courtney was our maitre d and she was beyond excellent! To top it all off the food was amazing! Love this place!
Good food in the restaurant but I did not enjoy the meat market atmosphere of the loud bar. It was allowed to spill over the entire place. The bathrooms were trashed, no toilet paper, wet seats... The management should decide what their core mission is. Do one or the other.
THE BAD: Very slow and inattentive service. we asked for bread 3 times and never got it until our main course arrived. Calamari appetizer was in a spicy/sugary sauce that was so sugary it was almost inedible. I ordered (what the waitress told me) was a 28 day aged NY Strip Steak. What I got was a gristly, fatty steak that tasted like a discarded piece of meat from the supermarket. I know what aged beef tastes/looks like and that wasnt it.THE GOOD: Jalapeno Margarita, the Duck Taco appetizer, the water views (Hence the name) and the decor. If it wasnt for those things, I wouldve given this place a one star rating.
The absolute worst dining experience my wife and I have ever had. We sat for over 15 minutes before they brought bread and we had to ask for it. Then we placed our order, and after 45 minutes we still werent served. The place had only two or three other diners there. We ended up just walking out. Dont go here. Dont consider going here. Terrible, terrible service. This restaurant qualifies for 0 Stars.
This is a tough review to write because this has long been one of my absolute favorite restaurants on Long Island. Beautiful views, delicious food and drinks, friendly staff. Now you will pay for these things but that is understood. I have no problem paying good money for great food and service. I dont want to slam this place as a whole but the experience I had there the other day was something youd expect at a dive joint. I typically order one of their masterfully created dishes but on this afternoon I ordered a burger medium well. When we finally received the burger after some wait, do to a large party that they had seated, it was definitely medium rare. I hate returning food to the kitchen but this was so far off from what I ordered, it needed to be done. The waitress informed us that they would cook a new one. Well it came back cut in half as we had returned it. The bun was soggy, the fries were soggy, the pickle was hot and so was the plate. Hmmm...did this upscale restaurant throw an entire dish in the microwave and return it to us? You do the math. Ive eaten here more times than I can count and cannot believe that this happened. This raises some serious red flags about their practices in the kitchen. I dont see myself going back anytime soon now that I know things like this are happening in the kitchen. I thought about speaking to the management directly but is that really going to change the way they do things or will they just want to put a band-aid on this particular situation. Disappointed to say the least. I wish I had taken photos but didnt think of it at the time.
Food took forever to get to the table. The surf and turf for 60 dollars plus tax was shameful. Meat was flavorless and chewy and not cooked to medium rare. The lobster tail was over cooked by probably 20 minutes. They should be ashamed of themselves to ask a customer to pay 60 dollars for that digusting dish. Will not be returning. Do yourself a favor and stay away. Go to the snapper inn next door for real food. Very very dissapointed.
We called the restaurant today and Jennifer answered the phone. We asked if we can put our name down to the waiting list and she said yes. Less than 20 mins later we arrived and we are NOT on the list.Host was rude .When i found Jennifer she said she never said that and said she had to go. Refused giving her name being afraid ill say somethin.Well guess what, im saying it. Thats is NOT how you supposed to treat your customers.Rude and nasty both of them.
The View is a beautiful, nautically appointed, very scenic restaurant/bar on the water at 3 Consuelo Place, Oakdale, NY. They offer a wide variety of food from simple bar-fare to delicious dinners. You can choose to either eat outside on the patio overlooking the great south bay( really greatpicture-worthy views(hence the name) or you can sit inside their beautiful dining room. The servers were very polite, professional & ours particularly right on the spot with everyting. Friends of mine & I went there to celebrate two friends birthdays. Afterward there was a DJ in the bar area playing dance music that got people up & dancing. The View is a very worth-while place to eat & spend some fun times with friends or family.
First and last time here. Service was slow and absolutely horrible. Ordered the salmon, I got sushi instead! Salmon was completely RAW! Lobster bisque was horrific with a terrible after taste. Bad experience all around. Dont waste your time or your money at this place. Surely not worth it and table next to me absolutely agreed with my review. (Total strangers)
The club portion of the restaurant from Friday throughout the weekend is a somewhat lousy experience. From 5pm on there is a $10 charge for valet parking, no choice. The food is excellent, but service a bit slow. Impossible to get a seat outside (very limited seating, went there for the view didnt get one) unless you get there by about 3pm or earlier. Once outside, people become a permanent fixture till the club closes (outside tables have no turn over). Music is way too loud at the bar area. Cant have a conversation. There are four tables in the bar area, people are either constantly bumping into you or the staff needs you to move to change the beer kegs. Again, food is great, restaurant side cant be best.
I had my wedding reception here at the View in May. I must say I had a great reception. The food was pretty good however, beware of the Mahi Mahi with mango salsa fish comes breaded and was very dry and not tasty. The only complaint would be that there is no micro phone to do a toast unless you rent the whole venue for your party that day. Nice setting and decor!
Wife and I went a couple Sundays ago for dinner, worst experience Ive had at any restaurant on Long Island. Including Applebees. I got the ultimate seafood meal and lobster bisque. The bisque tasted like tomato soup with a hand full of tiny pieces of lobster. The clams in my meal were tiny and over cooked, felt like eating tiny pieces of tire. The lobster tail was severely overcooked, and the sauce tasted like a jar of ragu. My wife got a steak which was ordered medium rare and came out burnt and barely pink, her cauliflower puree was flavorless. I understand cauliflower doesnt have much flavor, but any type of seasoning would be nice. Only positive was the Old Fashioned drink I had. $150 bucks down the drain. If you want seafood or steak, go anywhere else.
We had a gift card so we went for a birthday lunch. We shared a room with a noisy bridal shower and tolerated a away from the window table even though we requested one when making the reservation. No fun here, limited expensive menus and felt like we were intruders on someone elses celebration. We will not be returning.
I went here with my children and when i walked in i didnt feel safe, as soon as we saw how packed in everyone was we left because I dont want my children or I to catch COVID19. The place was definitely over capacity, someone needs to let the fire Marshal know to keep an eye on this place!
I drive an hour and 15 minutes from Brooklyn every 2-3 months Normally the food is good but the service is what has bought me back over and over, until tonight. The server Ashley K is the worst and may have made this visit my last, every other time i have been here i ask for something or if i have had an issue it was addressed. Tonight my wife asked for the drink menu 6 times over the course of 45 minutes before Ashley K decided to bring it. When I order my meal I asked for the Rigati pasta and was give spaghetti when I asked Ashley K why is it this and not what I asked for she insisted on telling me this is what I order, like I dont order the same thing every time I visit. long story short I got better service from the busboy who seem to be the one to fix all Ashley K short comings. if I didnt know better I would say they where short handed and took the first available dishwasher to be my server.

2022-01-02Just wanted to give my highest recommendation and review of the View in Oakdale for our wedding reception/venue spot. The food was outstanding. Our guests would not stop talking about how great everything was and my wife and I were overly impressed with how amazing everything came out. Everything from the cocktail hour, to the main course, to the cake from Rolling Pin Bakery, just unbelievable. We even got to choose Surf & Turf as one of our entrees and it was so delicious! Working with Jimmy, Joe, and Jen was so easy for us as a couple. We didnt have a wedding planner, and my wife and I did everything on our own, but with the help of Jimmy & Jen, our day couldnt of went smoother and they took the burden off of us and definitely made the planning as stress-free as possible. They took the time to listen to what we envisioned the day looking like and we were fortunate enough to have the entire restaurant to ourselves since we chose a date in their off season. It was decorated beautifully for the holidays, and they even let us pick and choose which decorations to keep and which we could put away for the day. Their new outdoor space is now covered with heaters and it made for the perfect dance floor/cocktail hour spot and with the lighting and hanging flowers that we added, it was just truly magical. We cannot thank the View and their staff enough for their professionalism and the amazing experience that they were able to give us for our special day. It was worth all the wait after being postponed almost a year and a half due to COVID. So if you are an LI bride looking for a waterfront venue with amazing food & ambiance, the View is the place for you.

2022-04-10Having always gone to Snapper inn down the road I decided to spend a leisurely Sunday late afternoon at your bar. Well I did get a view. A view of a staff way too comfortable. Too comfortable for what I call a barmaid to spend some attention when there were not many at the bar. I realize it was a shift change however the customer should never feel that. She was too busy counting money. What I think was the manager/ owner was also behind the bar again too busy to pay much attention. When they ran out of chardonnay there was no apology for it. By the time she left and the manager/owner decided to pay attention it was too little too late. Then he starts talking to staff from behind the bar about customers as if we were part of it. A conversation I did not need to hear. It was quite the VIEW! Been here and done that...never again!

2022-01-24We went during restaurant week. For $42 price fix. We had an amazing dinner. We had an appetizer, main course and dessert. The food was delicious. I had gnocchi short rib ragu for appetizer, delicious. Then I had the salmon, very good. For dessert I had sticky toffee cake, amazing! The best part was the service. The server was super attentive, friendly, recommended great choices. The manager apologized for our entrees taking a little long, they are short staffed in the kitchen. Everyone was wearing a mask. The views of the Great South Bay are beautiful. Great place. Thank you for an amazing experience.

2021-09-13November 2020 - Five Stars - Four of us went for late lunch at 3:00 on a Saturday afternoon and had a very nice meal. Two did a la carte while two did Prix Fixed. Soup appetizers and all the mains were very good as was the Pumpkin Pie Parfait for dessert. The View is no misnomer as the view of the water is very nice with large glass windows across the entire waterside wall. Service was very good and not pushy. Social distancing rules well enforced, every other table blocked off from use, masks required when not seated. Nice experience!September 2021 - Two Stars - We had a late 3:00 PM lunch at The View and were quite disappointed. Service was very poor even with wait staff everywhere and very few customers. Further, the sauce on a pasta dish was thin and lacking of flavor, clams casino were also so bland that we didnt eat two of the three and when we told the waitress they werent very good, she left then on the table anyway, and never offered to remove them from the bill. Very disappointing after a great experience the first time.

2021-07-30The restaurant has beautiful views and great food however giving it 3 stars because we had a 615 reservation and we finished at 1015, so long to get our drinks and another 30 minutes to get our appetizers, then they forgot 1 drink and after about 15 minutes later came to check on us and remember he never brought the beers, we then waited another hour for our dinner to be served, and when we ordered desserts our waiter never brought them to us, after finally waiting waiter came to table with check and noticed then we never got desserts, we would have left without dessert but waiter ran to get them, 4 hours for dinner is drawn out but a plus the food was good.

2022-06-11This is the second time we did a girls night here the food was delicious both times but both times it took forever. Meals took over an hour almost an hour and a half. It was busy but not crazy there were empty tables. Our server could have been more attentive and given us some updates. She also spilled a ketchup on my friends back when clearing our plates and just grabbed the little condiment holder quickly after dropping it and didn’t acknowledge it just kept going.

2022-05-04I had my sons wedding rehearsal dinner here. Jimmy was so very helpful with having to reschedule 3x due to covid-19. I chose the cocktail hour for 35 people. It was AMAZING! PERFECT! Food was great, service was great! An amazing start to a very special wedding weekend! Do not hesitate to book your special party here! Thank you Lessings for a wonderful evening!
