Village Idiot Pub in other cities:
I came to check this location out id give no stars if i could i sat at the bar for 20 minutes to get served the bartender kepept on serving people who walked in after me finally i was walking out he realized i was there asked me if i want anything i said no you were ignoring me good bye dont support this plance better places to goto a shame to village idiot i love the location in patchogue the bartender should be fired!!
Our server stunk, there was 6 of us on Friday Night the 29th, I never got my meal, even after questioning him 3 times, the fourth time he went by I told him to forget it.The apps were great but by the time we got done eating the dinners that were delivered, we were there for over 2 1/2 hours. Not enough help on a Friday Night...
I just had my wifes 50th surprise birthday party in the private room, anyone who has ever tried to throw a surprise birthday party knows how difficult it can be and how much preparation is involved, well the staff here did all the leg work setting up all the props for me, the staff was on top of everything, the food was awesome, (I highly recommend the steak tid bits) everything was awesome, our bartender Devin was awesome, alot of bang for your buck. I will have all my parties here
We come here/order to go allllll the time. Through all of the covid disaster, they never failed us with great food. Once we could go back in person we always always have a good experience. Worst thing ever would really be that when it’s so loud (band or speakers) the servers can’t hear us so silly things like drinks get mixed up or wrong. The food is literally 100% of the time good and correct. We have never had a bad experience with a server there. Always nice and attends to us as expected/hope for, even when it’s crowded
Even though the food is good I sadly have to give this place 1 star. This is the second time I’ve ordered from them and both times they forgot the pasta with my food. The item description even says it comes with pasta. I was promised a credit for my inconvenience from the first time it happened. Never got the credit and then it happened again! That just tells me your staff needs to learn their menu
It was last minute after attending a wake and we were all starving, there were 20 of us and we gave them about 30-40 minute notice we were coming. The hostess was extremely sweet and accommodating over the phone and when we arrived our tables were already set. Our waitress was really on top of our 3 tables and our food was delicious! I definitely recommend this establishment & will be back in the future !
Visited about 2 weeks ago, enjoyed the massive selection of drinks at the bar. The prices are very affordable. I was able to buy many many rounds of shots and beers for the group i was with and large group sitting behind us for $350-$400. The atmosphere is very good. I will return to taste the food next time!
The manager, Leah, is absolutely amazing. She is professional, sweet and went out of her way to make sure we had a great experience. This is the second time my family has dealt with her & I have to say, she is the reason we will keep going back every week. The food is phenomenal but the service is even better. Highly recommend this restaurant! Thank you Leah for doing what you did for us tonight & making sure you took good care of us. Its appreciated more than you know. You are so nice & caring & you really made our night.
Came back to give it another shot. Food has much improved! TnT salad is awesome!Review from a year ago: Literally the same old run of the mill dive-bar type food. Greasy, low quality food. Its a new place so I understand it being crazy but the service is awful. Millers Alehouse down the street is head and shoulders above this place.
Been here 3 times always horrible service. This visit we sat a bar took 10 min to order beer. They were warm took another 10 min to get cold glasses. Waited over a half hr after that for her to ask for our order and she never did after almost an hr from the time we got there we asked for check n left...she was more interested in laughing with other employees and customers
I think this is a fun place to go. The wings are good and the service is also. The bar is always busy and there are enough TVs to watch your sports. They have many types of beer on tap. There wasn’t a band playing when I went but there is a stage set up for bands. The place has a good vibe and happy hour specials!!
The young lady working there was both bartender and server and did a great job. Very friendly and never acted like she was being bothered. I had the flounder sandwich. It was cooked well but I couldnt understand why they used the rock hard flatbread. Made it impossible to eat as a sandwich but it was still very good. I would definately go back.
We were there for the Football game on a Saturday night. Great atmosphere for that! TVs everywhere you look. They had drink specials, and food specials. Lots of families. Food was very good, and the service was awesome. They also have a Sunday brunch thats very reasonably priced. Ive had their breakfast specials at their Patchogue location, and it was very good and reasonably priced. I like this location much better because the service was really good.
I was there at 8:30 pm and the fight was at 10pm. We had no intention to watch the fight. We were there to dine in, have some food and leave but they literally charged us $40 to get in. Yeah, just to get in. This is ridiculous. I used to go to that place every week, won’t go there anymore.
IT WAS HORRIBLE! Took my son there 11-25-20 for his birthday, the place was packed everyone was sitting on top of each other there was no social distancing, the music was so loud you couldnt talk to each other, and the service was horrible. It took a half hour for my soup to come out I asked the waitress where my soup was and she said what do you think youre the only table OH HELL NO. THAT IS NOT HOW YOU TALK TO CUSTOMERS! The food wasnt even good. Needless to say I will never go back and I had to write this review so everybody sees it.
I have been here before and have always had a great experience. The food, servers and hosts are always friendly. Tonight, all of a sudden, there was a 3% additional fee for using a credit card. They never had this before, we were never informed and there were no signs.Had i known i would have paid cash.
Service there is literally so awful that when I started choking on my food even after my girlfriend told the staff to get some water for me and told them I was choking no one actually came for the water much less ask me if I was okay. Luckily I had ice cubes that my girlfriend had from her last drink. What made it even worse is that the waitress we had witnessed the whole thing and even told me that she saw me choke. This place needs some serious empathy training, and I will never go to this location ever again.
As I’m reading some negative reviews I’m astonished that people would write such bad reviews ,Especially since they just opened !!! I had a totally different experience not only was the food delicious but it’s exactly what Lake Grove needs a modern day Bar with all the amenities of a sports bar / pub with great music !It was well lit instead of the darkness of other sports bar !!! The wait staff were all very attentive and very friendly. Alex, the manager made our experience there a memorable one !Definitely will be returning !!!
Typical bar food, we had burgers. The burgers came out dry and the bacon was so hard I thought I broke a tooth. The home made potato chips were half cold and the other half piping hot. I wish we had a better experience because this is a local restaurant and bar in my neighborhood, and I want them to succeed. This place looks like a great bar, the food needs some work, especially with other local bar & grills just up the road from them.
Nice decor it was not busy but service was slow. We sat down bartender took our drink order and then proceeded to have a long conversation with a patron that sat down after us before bringing our drinks . Then when my glass was empty Instead of asking if I wanted another one after sitting there several minutes had to flag her down and ask her for another one and again it was not busy. I did not think this was a country bar I thought it was an Irish bar but upon arriving they were blasting country music not nice background music blasting country music which I thought was really strange for this kind of bar. This kind of bar should be playing modern rock music not country. It felt like they have no clue who their target Clientele is. The good news is the food was very good hopefully they can get better management that has better knowledge of the clientele in their area for them to succeed.
Very disappointed. The services was horrible. On a Monday night, my family and I waited almost 20 minutes to order our drinks. We debated about leaving but we decided to stay, since we enjoy the Patchogue restaurant. That was a poor choice on our behalf. Our appetizers came out at the same time as our dinner. The food wasnt hot and the service continued to be poor throughout the stay. We wouldnt recommend it.
Went on a Saturday, and called ahead to make a reservation. We arrived at the scheduled time, and was told there was a 30 minute wait. 30 minutes came and went and we watched as couple after couple was taken and sat. We complained multiple times and finally got a seat after nearly an hour. When we arrived in our section, we saw a number of the couples that came in after us sitting at 4 seat tables. Overall, our wait staff was friendly and the food was good. Appetizers were large and filling. I would recommend this place for the food but I cant imagine going back because of the lack of acknowledgement of our reservation.
Its a big place, great atmosphere, the food is good, there are TVs everywhere. Its a great place to watch sports events. There is a separate dining room and beyond that, a room where private parties can be held. The only down side is that it is loud...unusually loud, I believe they are aware of it and are dropping the ceiling a little to help reduce the noise level. We will be going back
Went in on Sunday afternoon, and it was pretty busy, but was able to get to the bar and sit down. Pretty nice beer selection, and the food menu was very big. Got some IPAs and a chicken wrap and it was great, honestly this sounds odd but the side veggies were excellent..not something that people often care or focus on, but I noticed it. As a matter of fact, the dish I got looked so good, the guy next to me told the bartender he would have the same thing. Or more specifically, he actually said, you look like youre healthy, Ill have what hes having LOL.Bars are generally judged by their social environments. You could have the greatest beer and food selection in the world, but if the vibe is off, its toast. I am happy to say that the social ambiance was spot on. I really feel like this place got it right. I felt at home here, and I will be back for sure. The two young lady bartenders were beyond excellent and I wish I got their names because they deserve recognition for excellent service and it should be known - hopefully their suepervisors/boss knows what an excellent job they did.Anyway, its Monday, time to hit to the old routine, but glad that I stopped by this place this weekend. It was the recharge and positive environment I needed after a week of being away from home.See you soon,Dave@LOaltitude
Visited on Sunday 11/3 for lunch right before noon. Only 4 people seated at the bar when we walked in, waited to be acknowledged while the staff stood in the dining room talking. One of them being the manager. Finally someone with bright colored red hair came to the front desk. We asked if the dining room was opened. She’ said “Yes” with a nasty attitude and walked away. Someone else just said sit anywhere. We waited for menus for well over 5 minutes. The server wasn’t anything great, but I wouldn’t expect her to be since it seems the staff isn’t managed very well. Waited 20 minutes for a cup of soup and a garden salad. When we finally got our entrees I asked the food runner for lettuce, tomato and onion for my burger and he looked at the food ticket checking to see if it was rung in, didn’t say anything in return and walked away with an attitude. Had no idea if he was coming back or not. When he brought it out I said thank you and once again didn’t even say anything and made us feel we were a bother to him. Staff eating at service stations, a bunch of standing around. Super disappointed in the entire visit, on top of that the food was terrible. I understand it’s a new restaurant and food can take some time to come out of the kitchen and expected mistakes, but being ignored, and treated so rudely by such a miserable staff has lead me to never wanting to visit either location. The bartender could’ve acknowledged guests walking in but she didn’t care to give any accommodating service either. She’s the first person you see when you walk in, she’s should be trained to acknowledged guests if there’s no hostess at the front door. Such a shame, nice place, horrible experience
Had a good time with friends. I raised the rating a bit, not sure why I gave two to be honest. It was friendly and fun. Nothing went wrong, its a nice place to have a beer and some appetizers and chill. I will be back. I love the other two as well in Patchogue and Oakdale.
Food was okay. When we got here the Islander was on with no sound. We could actually talk across the table. But another customer wanted the all TV put on the Yankee game with full volume, we asked for a TV to Islander game and to lower the volume. The waitress said the owner/manager couldnt do that. Eventually we got a TV with hockey but the noise made our experience a negative 10!!!! I have been a loyal patron of the other locations but this one sucks!
Went for the 15 bottomless wings and beer. Not too bad of a deal, just the wings were not super amazing, felt slightly underdone/rushed, but they did keep up with the orders. Keep in mind, YOU WILL BE CHARGED $0.75 PER DIPPING SAUCE. To think something as cheep and trivial as dipping sauce would be included like every other endless wings deal Ive had.
Honestly worst experience Ive had at a restaurant in a long time. Between waiting for a long time for a hostess to come over after she had already saw us and then waiting even longer for a server to come over to even get a drink order. The place wasnt busy by any means so not sure why the service was so bad. Then when we finally did get food it was legit rancid and spit the food out after the first bite. When asked if I would like anything else I didnt think it was a good idea so after waiting for everything for so long ended up leaving hungry anyway. Would have given this no stars if possible.
We always enjoyed going to their restaurant in Patchogue, so when they opened in our neighborhood it was great. Well visited last night at 6pm, not too busy yet it was before the game. The food was so disappointing.Sampler platter was over cooked greasy mess. I had the short rib burger with no bun. The burger was over cooked, lacked any flavor, was in 2 pieces under theshort rib which was thick slices of some steak left over. I couldnt even chew ir. Fries were wayyover cooked. We dont return food for fear of retaliation. We just dont go back. We dont reccomend spending your money here.
We were so excited for this place to open in Lake Grove and boy were we supremely disappointed. First off, the layout. Why are there no high tops near the bar? Second, your happy hour doesnt even include low quality booze like Jim Beam? You have to sink so low as to only include gross plastic bottle booze for hh? Layout is not conducive to football either. Why would you waste space on a stage and putting tvs in a place where no one can see them. Food was fine, but we went for happy hour and it was total trash. Never. Again.
Convenient location, decent prices and food, BUT BEWARE: there is a 3% “credit/debit surcharge” on EVERYTHING. It is 2020. C’mon guys. Especially in a COVID-era where we are trying to stay away from handling dirty cash, you’d think they would be happy to accept credit (or debit at the very least). They don’t tell you until you are getting ready to pay, too. If they didn’t charge this fee, it would have been a 5 star visit.
I’m not one to ever do this but you give me no choice. Food was absolutely terrible! Both my friend and I were sick as can be, throwing up within a couple of hours. Fillet mignon sliders tasted so bad and smelt even worse! All the food we ate was contaminated. Very disappointing. Never returning. 🤢🤢🤢
Got to be the worst service i ever see! Never again!!!! The waitress we had Friday night here name started with a A she had 2 diffrent colered hair was horrible and very disrespectful and only came to the table twice the hole time we were there we had to find her to order anything
Waited 45 minutes for our food.then only got served half a meal. When I spoke to manager of how displeased I was she said she would discount our meals....so when check arrived 11.25 was discounted which was 25% of the total bill for to half meals....not happy...running for the boarder Im starving🤨

2022-04-24In fairness, we were there at 4:30 on a Saturday afternoon, so not exactly peak. Portions were large, but the food was just okay. My order, the American Chicken Sandwich, consisted of a fried chicken breast, bacon, and two slices of American cheese on a pretzel bun. Thats it. No sauce, no lettuce. The bun was soft and tasty, but the chicken was very over done. It came with a pile of fries (frozen, crinkle-cut) that were, again, okay.

2021-10-25This is a great spot to watch sports! We ordered a bunch of appetizers and beers to watch football on Sunday -- the serving sizes are awesome for the price, the service was quick for a busy afternoon and the food was top notch for your classic bar food. Great choices for adults and kids. Make sure you have the steak bites! Wings were fat, cooked just right (a little crisp but still juicy!)

2022-03-06Very Disappointed, all started out fine, appetizers like tower of onion rings and fried pickles were awesome. Then it all turned bad. ALL MEALS came out cold. My corn beef dinner was as if a 3rd grader cooked it. The meat was dried out, cabbage was white in color, not cooked, I couldn’t cut it. I don’t know what kind of cabbage it was. The Irish would be furious calling it an Irish dinner. Forget that one. Now the steak tid bits, meat was good, cold BUT the marinade will make you sick. Did you ever see meat that’s been marinated swimming in? It was a bowl of tidbit soup. Stay away!!! The waitress never came and asked how were our meals. As I said, very disappointed, never again.
