Village Tavern in other cities:
Pretzel sticks were great. Tried both the house cheese sauce and the mustard, and both were better than even anticipated. Our server Charlotte had great suggestions (get lettuce and the southwest dressing with the filet steak bowl, you wont regret it.) The fries and onion rings baskets were plentiful and inexpensive as well as house made. Wonderful experience for having stopped by at random. The atmosphere was upbeat, and friendly with a nice mix of chill music for a nice afternoon. Such a nice stop.
Stopped by the Village Tavern for a late night dinner. It was a beautiful summer evening so we sat outside. The service was friendly and prompt. We both had wings and they were incredible. I had mild wings, which had a nice kick! My wife had the garlic parmesan wings, which were tasty!!! If you are traveling through the area I would highly recommend the Village Tavern!
This place amazing! The service was spectacular and their burgers paired with their homemade chips was such a treat. They have a list of of different brews from lagers to plasner to ales; I highly recommend their Scottish ale it truly quenched the thrist in all the right ways. Will definitely be back again.💞
The Village Tavern was very busy tonight. The gentleman who seated us was super friendly and very we received prompt service. We started with a house salad (which was great for sharing) and ordered Buffalo cheese curds and I ordered the burger on special. It was cooked to perfection and the homemade chips were the perfect compliment to the burger. Looking forward to coming back soon.
Hidden gem! The food is well prepared and always delicious. Specials rotate frequently and are unique. Prices seem reasonable and drinks are cheap but good! Downside is that the inside is always cold, and the atmosphere is not very cozy or inviting. Make sure to try their poutine and steak & blue salad!
Excellent brew choices. Always something new to try. Beer sampling the 1st Wednesday of the month is awesome! Food is typical bar fare, but they have added a big game burger to the menu which changes constantly.Covid had shortened the hours, but the food continues to be excellent. The homemade desserts are next level.
We had a really nice time tonight at Village Tavern. Our server Deanna was really sweet and gave us excellent service. We had a couple apps and some burgers and they were great. Everything tasted super fresh and was cooked to perfection. We rarely get to go out and it was a great time tonight, were looking forward to coming back!
The menu has a good mix of classic and creative options. I didnt like the apple pepper sandwich, but this is more due to me choosing the wrong item. My aunt and cousins Reubens looked amazing as a well as the tots and fries. They have a great beer selection, but at the time I visited they did not have my first or second option in stock.Overall this restaurant is good for what it is. I would come back.
Fried calamari, fried pickles, and eggroll apps all cooked PERFECTLY. Wings were juicy and cooked to perfection. 1821 burger was MASSIVE and mouthwatering. The chips are obviously fresh and homemade, thick, and perfectly crispy. Never had a turkey reuben before this, but it was light and melty goodness. The Taco salad was ginormous and the best you could ever imagine. The apple brie sandwich was also delicious and so filling. Finished it all off with a hazelnut chocolate chip cake that just topped off the dinner perfectly -light and creamy, and perfectly sweet enough to make you say oh my God. Service was great. Atmosphere was warm and welcoming. Youll probably spend more here than youd expect for a sandwhich or a burger, but you will NOT regret it! the taste and size is totally worth it! Thanks for a perfect evening !
Called in advance for a pickup order at 3:15pm, for a 7pm pickup. Was told this wasn’t possible as “the kitchen doesn’t know where they will be at” and was told to please call at 6pm. Ok, fair enough. I guess I can understand that. So I call at 6pm, and I’m told “the kitchen isn’t taking takeout orders at this time.” I said well I tried to call at 3:15pm for this order but you told me it wasn’t possible and to call at 6, now I call at 6 and it isn’t possible either? To which I was told “sorry about that.” Been a customer since they opened and have forgiven them for similarly bad customer service issues in the past, but can’t forgive this one. Food is a solid 8/10, but customer service/management/operations is a 0/10. Unfortunately, this was my last time (attempting) to placing an order with this place.
The food and drinks were amazing! We ordered burgers and margaritas. The burgers were cooked to perfection. We also shared our fries, chips, tater tots, and poutine - all delicious. Unfortunately we were too full to order dessert. I will definitely return when I’m in the area again. Our waiter was Dylan and he was the best! He was very friendly and made our experience one to remember. 😀
I ordered my food around 3. I was told to pick it up at 5:30. I arrived at 5:25. My fried and onion rings were both cold and undercooked. My rueben was a soggy burned mess. I swear the pastrami looked like they scraped the bottom of the pan and tossed it on the bread.I ate it because I was hungry and I paid almost $40 for two sandwiches. This visit was a disaster. Never again. It’s a shame, they used to be a good restaurant.
Outstanding! The food is excellent. Pretty much everything made in house. They have some wing sauces there that are literally the beat I have ever had. We ate at the bar and the bartender was A+. We had a good chat and hes a very attentive server as well. Also a very nice selection of beers on tap. Do not miss this place! Its now officially my favorite place in Geneseo!
Got the Cowboy Burger-- best burger Ive had in many years, maybe ever! Everything was really good. My date got the fish fry and it looked awesome and she said it was really good. Service was very friendly and the heated outdoor tent was perfect for comfortable dining in the current times (it was about 40° and we were perfectly toasty).Loses 1 star only because the dessert was subpar (but rarely get dessert so not a big deal for me) and mostly because the bathroom is not well equipped. There are no towels to dry your hands and grab the door handle to leave and a disease-spreading elec. hand dryer right by the toilet in a maybe 4x5 room is just a NO. It would be a cheap, easy fix to get a roll of paper towels in a cheap towel holder and/or install a long handle with a pop-lock rather than a knob with a twist lock on the door so you could use your elbow and didnt have to put your hand all over to unlock then turn it. Boom-- problem solved!Either way, I will be back to get a burger again and to try more of the menu! Ill just bring a few paper towels in my purse.
Comfortable environment, comfort food, fabulous service!Loaded tater tots! Oh, my gosh! Delicious! Fattening! Yum! From the bison burger special which was devoured in record time, the chicken tenders described as best ever, the burger lover who said out of 5 counties of burger joints that hed come back here, we were all pleased with our food.I cant recall our servers name, uniquely spelled, she was fabulous. We are quite the bunch with quite a load of personality, she handled us like a pro and joined right in with our goofiness. A few special requests for the fussy one in the group didnt phase her, she made a few suggestions and was so much fun we wanted to invite her to sit down and join us. The food was great, but she made the visit fabulous and one we will remember and compare others to. She needs a raise for putting up with customers like us! 😆
Cant say enough good things about this place- portions are generous, food is delicious! The coconut fried shrimp was excellent- many places fail to make it as well as Village Tavern does. Their flavor was perfect, but, the dipping sauce added just enough of a kick to make them even better.Wings were not bad at all, although I am biased because I worked at a bar that made the best wings ever. The bleu cheese had a unique taste that I thoroughly enjoyed because it didnt seem to be something that you would get in a grocery store.Fried cheese curds. I just wish more restaurants would serve them. There are many more items on the menu that I would like to try including wraps and burgers, so I will definitely return. As for atmosphere, its a very comfortable and clean place. Well worn, it makes you feel right at home as soon as you walk in the door. Beautiful woodwork and nifty features like a hidden booth, with enough TVs for you to keep an eye on your favorite sports scores or games.Booze? I didnt get to try any, but it appeared that they have a huge selection of anything brewed or distilled- if you cant find a bottled beer or draft in this place, you should probably go back a second time and keep browsing the drink menu.Didnt have to wait for a table, though it was peak dinner time, and it didnt take long for the food to be delivered.Wait staff was excellent. Didnt have to ask for anything.Awesome place.
Their burgers are top notch. Service is fast, wait staff is experienced, knowledgeable and personable. Noticed them greeting regulars when they walked in. Love sitting at the bar. Cool to watch the bartenders make the drinks. Always stop in before going to the hockey games at Geneseo!
Good service. Great burger, blue cheese&bacon. Ordered it medium. Was perfectly pink where it should be, notably juicy but not greasy. Had a charcoal essence as if grilled outdoors. Very nice.Huge beer menu but several we wanted had just tapped out. ... Personally, I always find these happenings to be less just happened, than an establishments way of thinning the menu without having to change it.Given the great number of offerings and being located in a NOT so large city, my suspicion is that hard knock lessons have taught to keep on hand what sells well, let run out what doesnt and push the next on the list that needs to run out. I say that because each time the waitress came back to tell us the beer had left the building, a perfect replacement was given. To test the theory, Id have to return in a week and ask for the original beer ordered again. If out at that time, Id say pretty much, thats whats happening, the thinning of the beer menu to avoid loss. Problem is, the draw to the place, in part, IS the beer menu much as a coffee houses draw is the different lattes etc. If a syrup is always out, then it was never really in.It would be best to use a chalk board and write in limited offerings than to pass a pub off as being a beer garden of sorts only to learn its really just a bar with good burgers and a few niche beers.
Honestly we had such an enjoyable night out on Monday. After a long hard day of work I asked my husband if he wanted to do a date night out since we havent been able to eat out because of covid. We decided to go to The Village Tavern for dinner. There was adequate signage to let us know about masks and when we need to wear them. We went inside and we were than asked if he wanted to eat inside or outside we chose to eat outside. It was a beautiful night and our waiter was amazing. She came and checked on us multiple times but not too many times. Our entrees are brought out maybe 4 minutes after appetizer was. Sitting outside was wonderful wasnt too hot and the other people were spaced adequately around us. Did not feel crammed at all especially with the whole covid situation. Im very pleased and would definitely recommend this place to friends. We will be back.
My wife ate there a few times with her girlfriend and said it was very good. She wasnt lying. Its not fancy or upscale. In fact, kind of a small inside dining area and a bar. Although they do have outdoor seating as well when the weather allows. They have a decent selection of Craft beers and the food is above average. The dining area is clean and the staff are friendly and knowledge about the food and beer. Todays featured lunch was a short rib burger with grilled pineapple, roasted jalepeno, black pepper bacon, fontina cheese and a chili mayo dressing on the side. Both burgers were cooked exactly as requested and were served on a soft toasted roll. It was delicious. This is the second time I have eaten there and was not disappointed. I will go back again and would happily recommend this establishment.
Great beer selection (~50 at any given time) and excellent food.I have a tendency to be particular about seating and service. If I am not with a group I want a bar seat... its the only away to assure you can take advantage of their bar staffs willingness to help you sample and discover new beers. If its after five you can forget a bar seat. Especially on (delicious) taco Tuesday.
Nice little place for the cute town Geneseo is. They rave that their wings are award winning but honestly they are not that great. I have had way better in many other places. The food is alright if anything and so are the drinks. Where this places scores is their nice little patio that is pleasant to sit in. I guess I only say that because I come from a big city. The service is pretty good but it can get very slow when the place is busy. Simply put, their kitchen and staff is not built to serve the place when it is full. You will have to wait a long time. Overall I think it is alright for a one time visit if you are in that area.
Great beer selection, friendly environment and fun atmosphere. I have stopped in many times during a long drive, and enjoyed conversations with the staff and other people at the bar. Food is tasty. The service is great. They always play great music and have sports on the TVs. Definitely stop by!
Myself and my girlfriend have been here several times within the past 6 months and each time has been wonderful. The food has always been great and we have tried several of the items on the menu. She really looks forward to getting a fish fry at the end of the week and I love the pulled pork tacos on Taco Tuesday. Do yourself a favor and stop in.
Decent place. Due to the smaller size, it did upset my claustrophobia. But as this was my issues, the place made everything sound louder. Due to the acoustics, I must knock off a star. The food was pretty decent. My grandma had poutine and I had a cheeseburger. But she didnt finish it. I think it was due to her TMI issues.Anyway. I think a nice place expansion would be good to see. I like the cozy place, but I cant handle it during Dinner Rush. Cheers lads and ladies.Everyone here seems happy when I visit here. Even the bartenders look happy somehow.
Came here for the rehearsal dinner for our wedding. It was supposed to be a casual event, and they gave us the entire beer garden to hang out in. The servers were attentive and the food/drinks were great. Chris, the manager/bartender was especially accommodating. He ended up being the bartender for our wedding at Wadsworth down the road as well. Definitely recommend this place for a night out or any event.
I may or may not deliver beverages to this establishment, however I rarely eat anywhere I may or may not deliver. But on my night off I decided to try it and...Holy Hell the good is outta this world! The burrito is amazing! The turkey burger was seasoned perfectly and freakin delicious. You sit down and see what might be a “small” menu but it doesn’t matter. The burrito was huge and whoever decided on portions, thank you very much. It’s a joint to go get a brew and eat some superb food! Just Go!
Beer: excellent selection from domestic to craft. Food: also excellent with a very creative menu that rotates, not consistently, so as to not steal away your favorite before you get tired of it, but often enough that youll never be bored. Atmosphere: indoor/outdoor seating, smaller but cozy. Staff: friendly, but can come across as a bit judgy from time to time. Overall not a deal breaker. Probably the best place to grab a bite and pint in Geneseo.
The food was ok but customer service was terrible. They could care less if customer was happy, just wanted you out to get the next table in. We were cold outside and told we couldn’t move to inside, then when we were done eating, told we could sit at the bar to finish our drinks if there were seats, then told we couldn’t, so left our drinks and won’t go back.
The best beer selection in town. A must-go for visitors. Great bartenders. Obviously the twisted tavern wings are amazing (undefeated best in the valley), and nothing goes better with that than their poutine. But if its Friday, always go for the beer battered fish fry. The side of veggies balances so well and they have perfect cole slaw.
Great food, greater service, greaterer beer. Seriously though, Chris is fantastic. I have only eaten at the bar several times, but I have observed the great staff in the dining room. Very attentive. Good solid menu and always great specials. I enjoy the burger mix with short rib meat and brisket in there. Amazing selection of beers on tap. Especially for the area. You can always take a crowler or three with you when you go. Or make your own 4 packs from the cooler stocked with some really great craft cans. I cant recommend this place enough.
Good Food and good beer. To expensive though. Took my 2 sons for burgers (2) there had 2 beers and 2 orders of fries and order of Pretzels which came out as only 2 per order anywhere else 4 per order. $65.00 before gratuit ($10.00). These are large city prices, liked the place but wont be going back, to expensive for lunch in Geneseo NY.
This was our first and last visit. I ordered a well-done burger with chips, because fries are extra. I got a burger that was at best medium rare and limp fries. Daughter#1 ordered fish tacos with the sauce on the side, but it came covered in sauce. Daughter#2 ordered a chicken wrap and after eating half, found a fat fuzzy moth in it. Waitress never returned although we needed napkins and drink refills, so I flagged down another server who took the moth wrap away and comped her meal. So disappointed, especially since this was supposed to be a special day for my daughters wedding dress fitting.
Party of 5 for lunch.on Sun, 22 Feb 2015. We were greeted upon entering.(Staff is friendly.)We were seated promptly.I sampled 2 draft beers, one of which I ordered with lunch. The food was proper temp, tasty, and reasonably priced. We had excellent service from Kalliopi. We will definitely return when we are again in the area.
I had a dinner salad and one of their specialty burgers ! First of all it was the best blue cheese dressing I have ever had and I am from buffalo lol the waitress said it was homemade !! I hope they sell it ! I also had the burger with fresh mushrooms , spinach and Brie it was delicious!!
Although I miss the filet sub the new menu beef dip was great, no fat, no gristle , tender and as an added bonus it comes with a side cup of actual horse radish (not some mayo mix) if your looking for a meal in Geneseo the Tavern has the best food in town next to the Big Tree Inn, fresh ingredients, real food.
So I used to love the tavern & i’d bring my family here every time they visited but i had an awful experience. in march my friends & i went to dinner at the tavern. i called earlier that day & explained i had a semi large party coming through & they said that i should have no problem being seated but they don’t take reservations. when my friends came they gave them a name & we waited. i did not mention that they said we would have no problem being sat because they said that we would be seated in 15-20 mins. after almost 40 minutes of waiting i asked the hostess what was going on & she said she was sorry & that they were putting tables together for us now. more time passed and i asked again & they got someone to speak with me. i explained that i called earlier and that they said i’d have no problem being sat & he said that they don’t take reservations which i understood but they also said we’d only have to wait 15-20 mins as they sat table after table before us. they finally sat us at a table all the way in the back complaining that they had to push a family out so we could sit but honestly i didn’t care because they lied to us about putting a table together earlier. the guy i spoke to before comes up to my table yelling at me saying how when i called i said a different time & that this was all my fault for screwing my friends over & that this was not “their bad”. he even brought the phone over to me. i explained to him how they still made us wait almost an hour & he said that they were not at fault even though they lied about having a table ready. i can’t complain about the food here but the service was absolutely horrendous & maybe it was just a bad night but i would never disrespect a customer like they did especially in front of 7 other paying customers. i will never return.
Visited this restaurant/bar for brunch/lunch while visiting Geneseo. It is a cozy restaurant with good food with a small town feel. Can go for food or just go for a drink and watch the game, while still being family friendly. It does get busy on game day as folks come in to cheer on their favorite team
I got have lunch at this establishment and got to experience the outdoor area. The waitres was very friendly and the food that I order was delicious. The only thing is that sitting outside you will experience lot of bees trying to get to you and your food. And for all you pokémon players, it does have a gym there!
Saturday evening meal with friends around 6:30PM on a Saturday. I was the only one who ordered the clam chowder. I was not thinking that it was probably left from Friday.I was sick.for 2-3 days and missed all my plans on Sunday. Horribly sick from food poisoning.I will be ok going back, but I may not have chowder anywhere for quite a while.
Visited New Years Eve, 2016. Beer menu was diverse, expansive, and reasonably priced. Impressed. When my friend and I ordered a $10 plate of nachos to go with our beers, though, we were wholly underwhelmed - the chips werent homemade (as they should be for $10), the cheese obviously came shredded in a bag, and, with queso and jalapeños, thats literally all there was: chips, half-melted shredded cheese, some queso, and peppers. Ridiculously overpriced. If we return, we will remember not to order food.
Fast seating was the only positive. RE Craft Beers, sorry, just because Millers wasnt on label is no reason for excitement. The pumpkin ale was a porter someone drug a piece of pumpkin through. 3 tbsp of fresh jalapeno peppers in a lite taco salad with questionably aged ground beef that tasted like microwaved was horrid. Moldy tasting rolls and a fish fry that was mediocre at best and certainly not beer battered (been chef, try again) Unseasoned mixed potato vegetables (white mushrooms and green peppers) not even salted. Both of us sick after lunch meal and dining room smelled of urine. I would not even take left over fish home to pet.
Bartender extraordinaire, Chris Big Deal learns your beer palate and guides u to your ideal beer, in my case IPA. No need to guess among the myriad offerings. His protege, the newly ascendant beer meister Dylan (formerly Chris With Hair) will likewise have the newest beer selection poured before u sit, once u become a regular.-----The Gator

2022-04-19Of all the restaurants I visit frequently, the VT is my special baby. Though nearly always full and bustling, the staff find a way to make us feel as if we’re their valued customer. They’re gregarious without being pretentious, and there’s nothing fake about the whole dining experience. Best yet, the food is both intriguing and consistent, an almost impossible combination. They have earned my loyalty a hundred times over.

2022-02-28Incredible staff and the food is always good. Amazing selections of craft beers, they are always rotating the selections. If you enjoy soups, they will not disappoint. Deserts are always homemade and delicious. Great local place to go.

2022-03-25A pleasant surprise. We found this place when returning from Letchworth, and had an enjoyable late lunch on the patio. Good burgers, and I had a very tasty fajita.

2022-05-02Having myself a Camel burger. Yes I said a Camel burger. Not a Camel toe burger. A camel burger. Cooked to absolute rare perfection.Very similiar to beef in flavor and texture, but a bit different still. It has carmalized onions and smoked gouda cheese. It is seasoned with an Arabian spice profile. Nicely done here. Definitely recommend. Im enjoying a Common Roots Good Fortune IPA along with it. A relatively local brew. Its an all day type of beer. Nicely compliments the burger.

2018-05-06Great pub fare. Lots of beer on tap. Lunch or dinner. I love the sandwiches, especially the pastrami Rueben. Try the fried pickles, onion rings and pretzel sticks. If you’re really hungry, the burgers hit the spot. I just had the detox salad with a citrus vinaigrette—fresh and delicious!

2019-03-24Fantastic food and Drinks. We have been here before and come back when we come down this way. The menu is pretty well rounded with a selection of sandwiches, salads, burgers and finger foods. Any burger can be made a veggy burger or turkey burger as well so there is something for everyone. the service was top notch we had our food out within 15 minutes of ordering and our server was awesome. On top of all that the best part is the beer list all sorts of local and craft options with real variety if you like good beer this is the spot in Geneseo.

2022-01-24Very busy place but got a table quickly. Dylan was our server. He did an excellent job. Very attentive server. Next time in area and looking for place to eat, I will definitely stop here again.
