Came for an early dinner (6pm reservation) and while the food was fine, the service was truly odd.I will give the benefit of the doubt here that I think the service attempt was supposed to be high end. However, the execution really missed the mark. From the moment we got there it felt like we were being rushed to leave. If something wasnt being brought to the table, something was being removed, or someone was checking in, or just hovering. After we placed our order for appetizers, our waitress repeatedly asked us to place our main order - she asked three times in less than five minutes to urge us to place our main course order so that it was timed correctly. Even after explicitly saying that we were ok with waiting, we would like to enjoy the share plates and we hadnt decided yet, she still wouldnt leave the table.Ive worked as a waitress in several restaurants ranging from casual to fine dining, and while I appreciate the art of timing, there is also something to be said about listening to your patrons when they tell you, outright, Im feeling rushed.Like I said, the food was fine but the ambience was really odd and while I think I understand why the service was the way it was, it did not have the desired effect.
Cant say enough good things about Vinums wine dinners! The menu revolves around the season and winery to be highlighted - in last Thursdays case, an intro to Fall and Antinori wines. Rodolfo from the winery joined with Robert, Vinums somm, to discuss the wines, and Massimo talked about the menu selections and preparations.Descriptions are in the photo captions - but every course was superb (particular favorite was the Antinori white and the argula/artichoke/Parm salad - think a bright, savory, refreshing, complementary pairing) and it was really pleasant sitting outside on the back patio as the night progressed and the lights and candles came on. Also, the staff was friendly, efficient and on point, not an easy thing to do with a full house.Vinums wine dinners are usually held 1x/month; theyre the most delicious treat, whether dining alone, as a couple or with a group. Were already watching their FB and IG feeds for the October dinner - I hear a rumor that the menu will feature white truffles!
Lovely new place! Was pleasantly surprised after wandering in for a drink on Saturday night. The staff is super friendly, dessert was good (had the blood orange sorbet and a glass of vintage port). Will definitely come back for a full dining experience.EDIT: finally came back for dinner tonight- AMAZING! I had the seafood risotto which was to die for and very reasonably priced. Bf had the steak which was also excellent.
Excellent service (good job, Ashley!) and atmosphere. Food was superb with close attention to detail and presentation. My only complaint is the music selection...a bit eclectic for my taste. The temperature was also a tad warm, however the waitress checked in several times and happily adjusted the heat for us. Vinum is a wonderful place to dine at your leisure, have a relaxed pace and really enjoy the wonderful selection of food and wines. I will definitely be returning!
I came back to Vinum for a 2nd time this month! Once again I was so happy with the food! This time I ordered a risotto with seafood and it was delicious....and ofcourse I ordered my favorite, the octopus and again it was cooked to perfection and super tasty. This spot is perfect for a date night or for a small group to share a cozy meal in a beautiful atmosphere.... This place truly feels like it was pulled right out of the city. We are fortunate to have it on the Island.
First time here and loved it. Made reservations for 2, recommended since it is a small spot. Ordered the San Danielle Prosciutto & Parmesian, Chicken meatballs, Octopus, Sausage and Rabe, and eggplant parm (not pictured). I wish the sausage and rabe came with two sausage links instead of just one. Eggplant parm was definitely a generous portion for a small plate though. Ordered the Wild Boar Salami as a last minute addition, which ended up being a little too gamey for me and couldnt finish, but also because I was stuffed by this time. Cant wait to go back and try more dishes.
Vinum restaurant Staten Island OnJanuary 15 nine of us family and friends had a reservation secured by a credit card.We and we’re seated in a freezing cold room !!! We immediately complained and continued to do so throughout the dinner absolutely nothing was done to resolve this issue I consider this very bad service !! While leaving the restaurant after dinner, the chef -owner showed us an unoccupied better room with space heaters and a better heating system in general .The owner chef was very rude and simply said after showing us the better room “next time brother “such bad service
Amazing, authentic experience. The staff was very friendly and fun. They know their food and wine list top to bottom and they have an excellent balance of different styles of Italian dishes that arent necessarily over saturated with cheese just for the sake of it. The sous vide pork chop (daily special) was second to none. Do yourself a favor and check this place out. You wont be disappointed.
Definitely nor a Michelin star restaurant. Some food was good, but some was just ok. Apple cake dessert was like from cheap cafeteria. We ordered several items from the menu, and then in 15 minutes the waitress came back to say they did not have them in stock. What kind of service is it? If you do not have them, you should know and tell us right away. Why should it take 15 minutes to find out?! Cocktails were terrible. Mostly ice and no taste. Neither the interior, nor the exterior of the restaurant were impressive. Also, it was very hot inside, and even though, the room we ate was empty , the manager/or the owner (not sure) refused to move us closer to AC. I guess, it was a big deal for him to put 2 tables together.I do not recommend this restaurant, as neither the service, nor the food met our expectations! When you go to Michelin star restaurant, you expect certain level of food and service, and they were not there.
We had an INCREDIBLE dinner last night for our anniversary. Our waiter, Patrick, was a delight and the restaurant went out of their way to make our night special (they even brought over a complimentary bottle of Prosecco.) Every dish was beyond delicious ( I highly recommend the gnocchi) and the tented seating area was stunning.
Unimpressive location and ambiance. The tent in the back was nice (it was a nice day cloudy at 73F). The food really impressive. Very nice Negroni prepared with a large cube of ice. The appetizer and main course was stars above the rest. (Polenta al ragu, gnocchi, and smoky puttanesca. The Napoleon was excellent. Good simple but extensive wine choices.
Food and service was good. A bit pricey but my only complaint is that thier menu is digital. If you do not know how to scan a QR code or download it from the web, it can be a bit of a headache. Luckily for me the waitress helped me with this matter. Though I think that they should also have hard copy menus for those who are not that tech savvy.
If you want amazing food and a cozy atmosphere, look no further. I went here last night with two friends (there were four of us) and my friend knew the owner and we were seated at the window seat which if you could get it is a great spot, but the entire restaurant is cozy and a great vibe and atmosphere. Having said that, the food is as good as it gets. We tried different meatballs (meats) and they were all exceptional. I had the short rib lasagna and it was beyond delicious. Although this is an Italian restaurant, it is not your typical Italian fare. It is a little different from what I was used to so I wasnt sure if I would like it, but let me tell you, I left my comfort zone and found it amazingly delicious!! Our waitress was a sweetheart and the bartender was also very nice. Great service by all. The Owner said hi to our table and was a real professional and nice guy. He knows how to work the room and make sure everyone is enjoying their food. I will definitely be back!!
So this place is new to the scene on bay street. Let me tell you, this place is fantastic. The cheese monger player was full of delicious cheeses. The olive platter and the cauliflower flan was so good. The chef even gave us his advice for wine pairings and it was more than spot on it was fantastic. The food is great, my nephew the most picky of eaters was very happy and pleased with the chicken they made fore him that he ate most of it and said he wanted to take it home. Now that is saying something since he never wants to eat anything other than nuggets and mac an cheese. My family has several haunts in the bay street area and this has just made our list of go to places. Everything here is fantastic. The staff are wonderful. You just have to come here.
Pleasant evening, smooth environment excellent wine and food selection. Would also like to comment Francesco the manager did a great job recommending items and wine from the menu. He was very warm and inviting towards us and so were the other waiters and even kitchen staff. Overall beautiful evening spent with my hubby at this establishment .
The food was delicious. They have gluten free options for those who care for it. I had boar pasta, randomly delicious. Staff is great. However it was super slow because we only had one waiter in the back and the wait time was long, even just to get the Check! Advise you to make a reservation and also go during the week when its not packed
This place is adorable, has awesome decor and a very intimate atmosphere. Food was excellent; especially recommend the mussels, and lamb meatballs, and so was the service! The flan was interesting, and while I want to say I didnt love it, we ate the whole thing. Great for a small get together- especially for wine or cocktail lovers!
The first thing youll notice about this place is the decor. It has the feeling of a small southern Italian trattoria, and it reminded me of the Calabrian country. Im definitely a fan of the look and feel of the interior of the restaurant. The food was generally pretty good. They have your standard Italian fare along with a few menu items you dont normally see, and the variety is good to help keep the menu interesting. I tried a number of items and found everything to be tasty and cooked well. There was nothing I didnt like. The wait staff was prompt, attentive, and friendly. There was no request that went unanswered in a timely fashion, and the experience was generally good. All in all, its a decent Italian restaurant, and I recommend trying it.
Theres so much more I need to try. My first visit wasnt as fulfilling, food-wise, as I expected given what Ive heard. The menu is extensive with a lot of unique options. After all, this is an Italian Wine Bar with Tapas - the first of its kind that Im aware of. Italian influence in a Wine Bar with Tapas and Charcuterie so I wanted everything.Instead of all of it, I had the Cauliflower, the Octopus, and the Rabbit Cacciatore. I loved the Rabbit. It was meaty and tasted fresh, especially for a borough full of pizza, Chinese food, and sushi - options like this arent anywhere else.It has an awesome speakeasy, wine bar, butcher feel with an intimate patio - the vision is very unique for Staten Island and they pull it off well. Looking forward to my next visit.
Amazing food and outstanding service. Upon taking my drink order I made the waiter aware that I was not able to drink alcohol. He came back with delicious fresh squeezed lemonade to enjoy in the company of my friends who were drinking wine. They ran out of the tomato flan and to compensate sent out and an amazing cauliflower flan complements of the owner. The veal meatballs were tender and tasty. The antipasta and burrata brought me back to living in Italy. The atmosphere and decor was very charming and romantic. We dined in the outdoor space which was an authentic and rustic feel with great music. Definite NYC staple and must try.
What a gem. Great experience. Good cocktail menu... I had the one with jalapeño and tequila. Like a spicy margarita. Yummy. ... They bring tomato aspis(jelly) with bread make like a dough for sicilian pizza. Airy with good crust on the bottom and delicious. I order calamari and we had French cow cheese. I love the the ambient with great music. (Zucchero) Even the toilet is beautiful.
The best Italian on staten island, hands down. Not your typical Italian restaurant. The service is top-notch and the food is on another level. The tomato flan that is served with bread is not only unique, but soooo delicious. They have wine and cocktails and find their cocktails to be veryy well made, they even have mezcal which is not too common for an italian joint. Very cozy romantic place, good for lunch or dinner. Definitely a must try. The veal porkchop is outrageous, as well as their meatballs and cheese/meat plates
BEST Italian (American) restaurant in my opinion. Traditional recipes from itlay with the chef’s own personal touch. Service? Superb, if you want a great meal, with some great wine, a great atmosphere and some above average wait staff, come here. Just ask @Elvis Duran, he’ll tell ya all about it. 😁
Excellent service, great wine selection, and absolutely amazing food. I took my fiancée and we had the Italiano meatballs, burrata, short-rib lasagne, and Hunter’s Board. Everything was incredible but we couldn’t get enough of the wild boar prossciutto. Perfectly cut, amazing flavor, and came with stone ground mustard which took the boar to another level. Layering the burrata on the rustic bread and topped with a meatball and sauce was just too good. We were full from the appetizers before the lasagne came out. The smell from the lasagne let you know you were in for a delicious meal. The one thing I would change: the lasagne had a little too much short rib and we didn’t get the full flavors from the beschemel sauce of the lasagne. Small change that’s entirely up to personal preference. They had free valet and outdoor seating which were much appreciated. Overall, I would highly recommend checking out this local gem. I personally can’t wait to go back and try more of their menu.
We really enjoyed our lunch here. This beautiful new restaurant with a chic eclectic decor offers fabulous food. We had the lasagne which was the best we ever had. In addition we had cauliflower flan which was also delicious. We highly recommend this new addition to Bay street.
,I went here on a Saturday night for a dinner with friends The restaurant is small but intamite and cozy. The menu is diverse and they are many items I thought I would never see on a menu in Staten island . We orders meats and cheese ,and some meat balls to start. All were amazing. Then we had a wild boar pasta, duck , rabbit and veal. They all were amazing. Then for dessert we had the caramel chocolate cake an afagato and panna CottaAgain all were awesome. I totally recommend this place and when you go order something you never had before, this place will change your view on tihose items.
Very pretty inside.Small but comfortable. My friends and I shared a few dishes. The polenta was excellent as were the meatballs the Italian style ones...We also shared dessert. The Napoleon was crisp and the cream was soft and so good.So was the chocolate Tartufo....hope I spelled that correctly. The owners were very nice and we enjoyed talking to them.I hope to get there again.
My husband and I visited Vinum last night, and we were pleasantly surprised with every aspect! The food was superb (the veal meatballs and burrata - WOW!) But also the decor and the service was brilliant!! Its a really cosy place, that felt very festive and relaxing. I will definitely be going back!
I am so glad to see an article inTime Out New York magazine about my favorite restaurant at Staten Island . Every one has to have an experience of dining at this warm and homey atmosphere. The food is great! The cheeses, curred meat and wines chosen with love to good food by owner.
Food varied for mediocre to good. Service was dreadful. We were excited to try out a new restaurant with friends to catch up during the holidays. It was 6pm and the front of the house was empty and we were seated in the back/garden area. They set up a cozy setting so it doesn’t feel like you’re in a temporary structure and we were warm despite it being dec 23rd. The menu selections were intriguing and different. Seeming to specialize in fine cheese, meats, and wild game.Started with drinks ordered cranberry mule and a fig mojito and others. The bartender was very gracious and welcoming with greeting us for the holidays and said if the drinks aren’t to your liking I’ll make the over no problem. He accidentally switched our drinks between people at the table. They looked similar so we told our server. He just smelled the drinks and switched them without offering to have them made over. Good thing we were in good company and didn’t mind swapping germs.Ther server just didn’t seem seasoned. He was kinda rough around the edges. Our table wasn’t cleared appropriately. One person asked for a new fork and was given a dirty fork. He tried to take our drinks away before we were finished and then cleared half of the plates and left the others. Our table was wobbly. Other places I’ve been to would have put something under to stop it. It just wasn’t a polished resturant despite the prices that would reflect fine dining. We ordered the cheese monger platter. The portions of cheese were about the size of a quarter. We asked him to let us know which ones were the ones we ordered. He didn’t know and said the triple creme cheese was a Manchego. Our entrees were ok to good. My husband enjoyed the veal but my duck was over cooked despite the server insisting it should be med-rare. Everyone else enjoyed their meals but nothing was impressive.Overall, we wouldn’t return based on the service and for the money the food wasn’t worth it.
We went for a bday dinner celebration for my self . Upon arriving we were greeted very nicely and although there was open tables in the front we were told to wait a few mins we would be seated in the back . We sat at the bar and ordered a drink my cranberry mule was delicious and the bartender was lovely .We were brought to our table in the back which was like enclosed outdoor seating . Which may be nice in the spring and summer but on a super cold January night it was not so pleasant it was cold. There was one other table back there seated that kept mentioning how cold it was .Now to our food , I am a pastry chef and have worked in many NYC restaurants and Brooklyn as well so I understand things being 86’d it happens. We wanted to try a certain cured meat which the server informed us they didn’t have , he suggested one that was delicious. We also had the chicken meatballs which I have to say were out of this world .Entrees , my husband wanted the special of chicken , he was informed it wasn’t ready yet . Although printed on the menu we were told it wouldn’t be ready till 930pm on a Sunday night . Why print it if it isn’t ready and since it was a Sunday night last and they close at 9pm that means it technically shouldn’t have been printed at all .My husband went with the lamb chopsServer came back about 15 mins later to say that when the ticket printed his entree didn’t come up so he had to put it in again . Things happenI got the oxtail it was decent but nothing to ride home about . The lamb chops were Luke warm and mediocre at best . We swapped entrees bc my husband truly didn’t like his .Dessert we ordered the warm chocolate cake . It was ok although not warm really at all , almost as if it was heated in a microwave . Also it said served with vanilla gelato but instead was brought out with some sort of whip maybe a ricotta whip . Not a proper menu description which I get things change but would of been nice to be informed about ahead of time .Overall for price and service or lack there of we would not return or recommend. Sad as we were excited to try after reading good reviews
This place is a super cozy nook to sip some wine, chat, and eat exquisite dishes! Their black ink linguini and seafood was delicious. The boar sausage and brocoli rabe, the duck, and many other items they have on the menu is super good. Oh and wait! You have to try their homemade desserts! Pistachio gelato, tiramisu, and napoleons... god! Sometimes I just come in for that! The service is super friendly and attentive. They care about their customers and only want the best for them!
Duck for lunch. Done a little bit more than I would like but otherwise very good. Service was provided by a very sharp and pretty young lady who made this stop fun. Deep and different menu with an assortment of dried, smoked and cured meats and extensive wine list. I shall return.
I decided to try this place out for my birthday and Im very happy I did. From the minute you walk through the door you feel this sense of comfort from the warm lighting and the beautiful old world style decor to the music selection playing in the background. The food, which I will list, was out of this world delicious! Its hard to find a place that does not serve the typical Staten Island dishes and has taken their cuisine to the next level. This place has definitely set the bar high for all other restaurants in the area. Not to mention how excited I was that Staten Island finally has a wine bar with a great selection! My family and I decided to try a few things and ordered off the Tapas and Meatballs menu. We had the Mussels, Wild Boar and Rabe, Olives Tasting, Chicken Meatballs and Bacalau croquettes. Everything we tried was accompanied with an Oh My God this is amazing! or Wow, Im impressed! As a family that eats out often let me say that this is extremely rare that we find a place that we can all agree was phenomenal! Our wine we chose was a bottle of the Marietta Petite Sirah which was wonderful! For desert we shared the Chocolate Truffle and Panna Cotta. It was the perfect ending to a great birthday! Thank you to the wonderful staff and owners who made my first experience there a complete delight. You will be seeing my family and I there again soon!
Service? not so good, meatballs had to be cut with a knife, You Italian? You dont cut meatballs with a knife. Asked for a order of meats with cheese got the meat after they wanted to bring the cheese I said no, the answer I got from waiter there was no room on table, you have meat with cheese when you have an Antipasto you eat them together, You Italian?? We ordered Lasagna it wasnt even cooked pasta was like our of the box. This has to be worse dinner experience I ever had.Very bad experience once is too much, stay away.Plenty of other restaurants to choose from.
It’s really unfortunate that I have to make this review because my family and I would regularly come and have dinner here. However, upon my latest visit, I was treated with such disrespect that I couldn’t bear to sit down and have dinner. The older gentlemen was extremely rude and dismissive simply because I wanted to have dinner without a reservation. It’s a shame that this was the experience I had and I will not be returning.
Food was very good.. no place on Staten island has a menu like this.. however service was Terrible Waiter did not tell us the specials.. could of cared less if we needed more wine during our dinner.. thats is a shame because the wine menu is excellent.. made the experience not.enjoyable
So I had too special people take me to this place I went to knowing that I would’ve just been happy with the steak but i was introduced to trying their veal meatballs prosciutto duck prosciutto wild boar an Enormous amount of spreads everyone was amazing I couldn’t of Eatn at a better place and I couldn’t of had a better time with the people that took me there the place is amazing a lot of people should go and check this place out I stand by my words when I say amazing
We have been meaning to come here for the longest time..the wait was well worth it...to say this is one of the best restaurants we have ever gone..is an understatement...Manhattan...take notes, this is what food..service should be...walking in, the vibe, decor...so inviting, comfortable, we felt as though we were somewhere else, Italy...our waiter, Nick..knowledgeable, friendly, attentive... he was truly a great help to our introduction to this unbelievable experience..we were helped along with one of the best sommeliers I have ever met, Francesco, from the mother country...gave us a fabulous selection, his knowledge was instructive, refreshing..it what my baby and I look for when choosing something new...started with the veal meatballs with truffle sauce and burrata...flavors jumped out at you...crazy good...then had the lamb chop special...delish...and the wild boar ribbon pasta...fresh, home made pasta...the boar..rich..flavorful...we are blown away...you need to call way in advance, this place gets booked , quickly, rightfully so...this is what people outside of Staten Island miss out on...it is must to come here, we are running back here as soon as possible....Vinum is special!

2022-02-08A small, hidden gem that offers amazing food. It’s a very small wine bar/restaurant—it maybe has five small tables. If you’re not from the area, just be aware of the neighborhood this place is in. It’s not the restaurants fault which is why I still rated 5-stars, but it’s a crime-riddled and sketchy neighborhood (take it from a 25+ year SI native or just google Stapleton). All of their drinks and food were phenomenal, but I highly recommend the truffle pasta. Their prices are very fair. Our server was extremely polite and efficient. We would dine here, again.

2022-01-26Amazing food, excellent service, seems very small when you walk in but they have several large rooms in the back which is nice. My wife and I had the lobster 🦞 dinner and a nice bottle of Italian red, nice wine selection as well. Will be back to try the duck and the rabbit, got stuffed with the lobster. The night we went, think it was a Tuesday there was no valet, but luckily found a spot right outside.

2022-06-29We hosted a party here for my boyfriend’s birthday, everything was well coordinated and the staff were very helpful and friendly! Even when we had to add additional seats, they didn’t seem to mind. The set up was beautiful too! And the food was delicious. We did family style since we were a group of 24 people. All the food options were a hit!

2022-03-21It’s small but unique, their menu has rabbit and duck. The linguine was handmade, very tasty.

2022-01-08Very cozy Ambience, friendly staff, high number of drinks and wines. Pasta was fresh and delicious and short ribs were great. The branzino fish dish tasted too fishy and over cooked. This place would have received a 5 star rating were it not for the bad tasting fish dish. This restaurant is Michelin rated but needs some improvement.

2022-01-26I love this place!! I am so picky when it comes to dining out. When it comes to vinum I know that the meal won’t only be delicious, but it’s high quality products. From wild caught salmon to organic chicken, they only use the best ingredients. The atmosphere is great for a date or gathering with family and sharing a great meal. Vinum checks all the boxes - great food, service, and atmosphere.

2022-01-08I love eating at Vinum and have become a regular because of the consistent excellence in the preparation and service of their food. To me one of the the best parts of Vinum is how well their food travels! Deya and Roberto have constructed a menu that is awesome for eating in or taking out. Recently I had family coming over but we werent able to go out so I brought in . They good was prepared perfectly, traveled well and was a delicious on my table as it is in the restaurant. Vinum never disappoints at the restaurant or at home!

2021-11-14This was our first time here. Everything was fresh. We Had the Portuguese Octopus for an appetizer. It was delicious. The duck and veal were equally delicious. We ate outside in the tent. It was warm and cozy.

2022-01-26We decided to come here with a group of 10 people a week ago and were seated in a private room with temperatures at an extreme low. There was no Heat in the room we all continued to wear our jackets our feet froze as we ate our food. The Owner did nothing about the temperature we asked him to turn up the heat repeatedly. The other end of the restaurant was completely warm besides this room, he didnt even bother moving us. Either way we ate our lackluster meal, overpriced, tasteless food in the cold room. We finished our food, payed, did not complain. But on our way out the manager or owner asked us how was the food. We lied and said good because we are nice people but my Dad added that it was way too cold in the room. The owner or manager simply replied “Next time brother”

2022-02-15Wonderful drinks. Veal chop is top notch! Service was so nice!
