VIV in other cities:
Ive been to Viv before when it was at its other location, I wanted to try this location.Inside like a club, outside has the quieter area. At least theres a lot of space to sit outside, which is nice. Good jams too!Order the caramel chicken wings WITH SAUCE ON THE SIDE--unless you want super sweet wings! The wings are covered in fried garlic aside from that.Fried calamari is served with sweet Thai Chili, which is nice.Drunken noodles are soft and fresh, good amount of smokiness and spice. Noodles are not cut however, large pieces.Tom Kha Gai is coconut milk soup, which Ive never really tried before but its not bad, pretty good. The chicken is not cut all the way though, big chunks.Basil fried rice is not as traditional, more on the sweeter side. Mom says that Northern Thai food is on the sweeter side, and that definitely rings true here. Not bad, but if youre looking for authentic it wont be here. Its more Americanized, fusion inspired, hip, & clubby. A fun time! They didnt offer spoons or knives on the table, or have any Thai sauces available (you must ask for fish sauce, chili vinegar etc) and the server did not check in on us once. The menus are QR codes only.Cute promotion where you write a review and get a Thai iced tea/coffee/soda. So heres mine! 😜
This place is superb. Food was cooked to perfection and the drinks were tasty! The pineapple fried was so flavorful and delightful in presentation. I loved my shrimp stir fry. Liberal amount of shrimp and large portions. The ambience was great too!Must visit for anyone who loves great Thai food!
When you first walk in to Viv, you are greeted by neon lights, techy music, and a long glowing dragon; none of which is a fair precursor to the culinary experience.Went with a group of four and paid a little over $110 for four appetizers, three entrees, and four drinks, so definitely a great bang for the buck. The plating and presentation rocks back and forth between standard Thai fare and more high-end culinary experience. The food is the star of the show (unless you like top forty music dubbed or reverbed), and definitely start with classic Spring Rolls before any entree. And the bathrooms are a neon experience to say the least. All in all, happy that we stumbled across Viv on a real whim due to some plans falling apart. Would recommend and return to again, especially on less busy nights.
We came for dinner and were hoping for excellent flavorful Thai food however the food is “okay.” Service was good and the ambiance is nice. The menu is extensive and plenty to choose from. We ordered Phuket Shrimp, tiger prawn stuffed with chicken and served with a thick Tamarind dip, they needed to be hotter and lacked flavor. The Edamame was hot but bland and needed more sea salt. The Chicken & Shrimp Dumplings were lukewarmmade of minced chicken & shrimp and a soy vinaigrette sauce. The beef stir fry was very tasty but I ordered Panang curry with chicken to be spicy and it was very bland. I could not get any flavor out of it and poured hot chili sauce into it. The portions were generous and the jasmine rice was excellent.
This place is a gem!Food is great and so is the service!Everyone is friendly and polite. We had broadway show at 7pm a block away from the restaurant. We reached the restaurant at 6:10pm, requesting quicker service if possible, we were not particular about the dishes. The server was accommodating and we had their popular pineapple fried rice and pad see ew.Both were Delicious and came quickly! (Thank you) There were lot of group of friends and couples in the restaurant everyone seem to have good time, the vibe is so lively. We can’t wait to visit again!PS: we were in the line to enter the theatre at 6:45pm!
Decided to come to VIV for a nice lunch with mom. The Hostess was nice, friendly and patient. The spring rolls were delicious I ate all three by myself. The wings weren’t bad but the sauce was not my favorite. The calamari was a bit cold and well cooked but had a fishy taste to me but my mom liked it. The ambiance is great and but the space in the bathrooms are a bit cramped.
The food, atmosphere and prices were all good. The service was rushed and uncoordinated. Just as an example, one waiter came to take my drink order. Several minutes later another waiter takes my food order. Ten minutes later a third waiter brings my appetizer before my drink even arrives.
Ive been searching for a Thai restaurant in NYC that serves Khao Soi for a long time. I was so excited to see that Viv had it on their menu. They make it with bone-in chicken and shrimp. Unlike other Khao Sois that I have had in the past, this one does not have as much soup. However, it was still delicious and I was very happy to finally satisfy the craving. For the appetizer, I got the beef and shrimp dumpling, which was very delicious. Theres only 4 per order though, so the portions are not that big.The restaurant also has a very nice playlist with all my favorite songs! The ambiance is very chill and cute. Id definitely recommend it whether youre looking for a spot for a date or just a casual place to eat.Overall, the restaurant is fairly priced for it being in Manhattan and I did not leave still hungry so that was a plus!
Excellent service. Ladies doing the customer service and attending were very profesional. My Khao Soi is absolutely delicious, always perfect. The Duck Tamarid was unfortunately too sweet, but cooked really well. The meat was soft and juciy, the skin very crispy, but perhaps too sweet this time.Kra Prow minced chicken with cheese basil puffs were a surprise! So delicious! I wish they had the main course entry if the minced chicken pad Krapow to enjoy, but these little ones (with the cheese surprise) were a+All dishes are big and beautiful presentation. Restaurant is clean and lovely and fun with all the lights and super cool/beautiful decor.Thai ice tea was great.Overall 4.5/5, just be sure that the duck you order is not cooked too sweet (I know tamarind sauce is sweet, just saying).
As you enter the restaurant, you are transported into another dimension, following the colorful lighted path of the dragon tour guide. Vibes are immaculate. To drink we ordered the coffee or me, pearfection, and viv mule. They were all great! The garnishes on the drinks are the juiciest sweetest fruit that has ever burst in my mouth. We got the chiang mai sausage appetizer which was delicious! For dinner we got the Panang curry, pad see eiw, and the pineapple fried rice. Everything was so flavorful and delicious! And the atmosphere was great. 10/10 would recommend
The food and the ambiance and the drinks are excellent. Great energy! The colors and the waiters are full of life! Highly recommend as a pregame spot for a night out in the surrounding vibrant energetic Hells Kitchen neighborhood. The music will want to just make you get up and dance! 😁😁
This place never disappoints! Delicious food, great atmosphere, and super cute outdoor seating. One of my favorite dishes is the Thai Sausage Fried Rice. Its a bit on the sweeter side, but super flavorful. The lychee iced tea is also really good. I went with my friend who had the Shrimp Kua Gling and the Mehkong Delta cocktail, which she rated both 10/10.Would highly recommend!
Yummy This place is awesome. Not only is the food great, but the vibe inside is really cool. Check out the 40 foot long green serpent on the ceiling. As for food I loved the red curry. I added duck. It was a quarter of a big duck with only the leg bone in it so it was easy to eat and OMG was it wonderful. She had a lot of apps and all of them were great. This is a great place if you like Thai food. What we love is that the menu includes photos of the food so you can see what it is if you are not sure. Be sure to read the menu food descriptions. They are hilarious. Check out all of our reviews. If we do not like it we do no review it so all of the ones you see are places that are fantastic. Follow us if you like. Our server was very helpful and clear about what items are vegetarian and vegan. Unfortunately it’s not a lot. Vegetarian options are: Appetizers 1-5, one of the soups, Rama 9 (peanut sauce), and Massaman curry (though on the menu it says they only serve it with chicken). Everything else has fish or oyster sauce.
Careful here. The food was ok, a bit too rich and over salted. They gave us a water bottle with MOLD which was also in the water. They just took it back and said sorry. The service was a bit slow I believe. Took them awhile to get our order. The simple fact that there was mold on the water bottle and in the water, I’m concerned about the food quality. Maybe they need to be inspected before continuing to serve.
Loved the outdoor seating! The music although very upbeat was too loud for me to enjoy indoor dining. My husband and I shared three dishes all delicious with just the right amount of spice. All the dishes could have used a bit more meat as only a small portion. We are just relocating from the upper east side to Hudson Yards area and will be back.
I love v[iv]! It’s one of my go to restaurants when taking a friend out and is always where my parents want to go when they’re in town! I’ve been countless times now and it’s always SO good. Great ambiance, yummy cocktails, and DELICIOUS food. Great portions too - always have some left over so I get to take home and have for lunch! One of my favorite restaurants in the neighborhood
What a great vibe! Love the dragon + floral decor and their 2000 dance pop playlist. The service is attentive.Food is yum too! Recommend the pineapple fried rice, the hint of curry really brings out the flavors- one of the best I’ve had. The duck overall good but a bit too sweet to my taste. Drinks are very creative.
I’m so sad to leave this review 😪 I came here to celebrate my anniversary with my partner and in the midst of our conversation he spotted a roach behind me. I was so sad this was the end of my time here. I asked the server Jesse to cancele the food Bc it would be unfair to force myself to eat after seeing that and they wondered why we didn’t cancel sooner…??? I’m sorry the roach didn’t show up earlier. The ambiance, the decor it was all stunning, even the service was decent. I’m sad I didn’t get to eat here but more sad the staff blamed us for canceling our order. Even when we agreed to move somewhere else and eat they said no your order is canceled and we paid for our drinks and appetizer. We spoke to the store manager and she had nothing to say to us. Our serve name was JESSE and he was full of attitude. We were given the bane SZOM for store manager.
VIV Thai is one of my go-to Thai restaurants in Manhattan. This place is a great example of amazing food AND fun vibe. The outdoor space is nicely decorated with flowers and all (vs. a standard wooden structure) as well. The portions are big. I rarely can finish the whole meal and some dishes can be pretty spicy so be careful if you cant tolerate a lot.My favorites are:Appetizer - calamariEntree - red curry with chicken
The atmosphere is so down to earth and the staff is super attentive and polite. The drinks were awesome, food was amazing and the wait for anything was not long at all. They also have partitions up for COVID I suppose, but I like it because it gave a little bit of privacy for conversation. Will definitely be going back!!
Not only is the food absolutely amazing, but the service is exceptional. The servers are sweet, give good recommendations, and overall make the experience more pleasant. Even when getting take-out they wrapped my curry in seran wrap so it wouldnt spill and i have never had a restaurant do that. Everything from decor, to food, to service feels well thought out and such a great experience. 12/10
This was my first time at the Viv, overall the ambiance was really nice the decor was really nice. I had sat down at night to order some drinks and apps, the drinks were good but as you can see from below we ordered the chicken and it was pink inside. This pretty much ruined my appetite and thank god I didn’t get sick or salmonella from this. When I told the waiter it seemed like they really didn’t care all they said was “I don’t know what’s going on in kitchen but let me find out” then I never got to find out nor did they even try to rectify their mistake they just tried to brush it off like nothing happened. This was my first and probably my last time coming here to the viv if you guys order any chicken at this place please check it before you eat it.
The two stars is not about the food. Good was actually good. However, the server was rude and got upset when we added items to the order. Also, the bathroom was really dirty. Good restaurants are not only about food, is the whole experience that makes customers enjoy their stay and come back.
For a first time visit, this is a cool/low key place for lunch or dinner. The server was attentive and polite as in all Thai culture. The food was warm and made to order. My only drawback is they served each individual plate when ready so we waited until the last person meal arrived to begin dining. We had a toddler in our party and they tried to accommodate as much as feasible. I would reiterate the comment that the bathroom is small—so if you’re claustrophobic this is your heads up. However, that’s New Yorkerish for you! Also regarding bathrooms, they have a glow in the dark animal theme—not creepy though!
Portions are huge!!! Ambiance is amazing and every single thing we tried was delicious. The Spicy Kee Mao Noodles and Viv Wings were absolutely delicious. The price is amazing for the portion size you receive—I paid about $16 for a plate that could probably last me 3 servings. Definitely returning to this restaurant
VIV has some of the best duck in town, if youre into that. The Pad See Ew is excellent and leaves you feeling deliciously full. The atmosphere is great but its loud so if youre looking for a quieter setting then maybe today is not the day to enjoy them. They have cool outdoor seating and a beautiful indoor dining area.
I have had a few meals at this place. The dishes are simple but tasty. The staff are good at paying attention to your needs and they have done a good job with being responsive to COVID-19 standards. If you are looking for a place to take a first date without breaking the bank, try this spot.
This is my new favorite Thai place in the neighborhood. Everyone who works here is so helpful; our server James was especially kind and efficient. The food is really good too. I got the pad see ew and I was so happy they made it with Chinese broccoli. I will be coming back, Im sure.
(SJ) The ambiance was amazing. The restaurant was decorated really well for pride month. The service was very quick and polite, we showed up on a sunday night with no reservation and got a table for 4 within 15 minutes. Presentation of food was also great. Portions are large you could even share a plate if you have a small appetite. You get a great amount of food for the price. The food tastes phenomenal and has a good amount of spice, dont get extra spicy unless you have an especially high tolerance.
Atmosphere is great. The food is even better. We got the fried tofu and crispy fish as an app. The tofu was really good. One of the best I’ve ever had.I ordered the green curry with tofu and veg and a side of noodles. Soooooo yummmmMy friend got the basil chicken and he really enjoyed it.I highly recommend this restaurant.
Viv really surprised me in the best way -- the food was excellent (both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options), the drinks were so affordable (happy hour goes until 7pm!), the vibe and ambience is really fun and the song choice was amazing. We will definitely be going back!
I am almost am afraid to give VIV the top review that it deserves lest it get get too popular (crowded). My spouse and i have eaten here close to 10 times in just the last few months. . Every meal the food superb👍🏼. Combined with cool decor/atmosphere and friendly-attentive staff, i would say it’s among the very best Thai food we have ever eaten (and Thai and Vietnamese are our favorite cuisines)!
Love the place and our server Kayden, he was adorable and checking on us. Food is amazing, yummy, every course is a treat here. We had Tom kha soup, vegetable dumplings and spring rolls and spice noodles. And a special treat free Thai ice tea! Definitely coming back!
Wow, where to start. This is one for the books. The 5 Star book. I’d give more, but that simply isn’t possible due to googles limiting “Star System”. Oh well. The food here is amazing, I would recommend any Thai food lover (and who wouldn’t be) to come here, immediately. Seriously, stop what you are doing, and come to VIV. It is single handedly the best Thai food restaurant I’ve ever been too. My server was THEE KINDEST PERSON I have literally ever came across. I don’t know his name, but he was wearing a very fun shirt. This is the best day of my LIFE!!!!!!!
Excellent service and excellent food with outdoor seating. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. We started with spring rolls and had red curry, Pad Tai, and padsee-eiw. Everything was fresh and very flavorful. We had some who wanted spicy and some who wanted mild and they accommodated both.
This is my favorite Thai place in the city! It has a great atmosphere - both a colorful LGBTQIA friendly bar vibe at the front as well as relaxed outdoor seating and a fun but nice date vibe seating at the back. Their food is amazing. I like both my classic red or green curry orders but I also recommend that you try the Kanom Jean Nam Ngeow - a spicy delicious pork soup with rice noodles and pickled mustard greens. It is unique and delicious. I come here all the time both for the food and the vibes!
My third time at this amazing Thai restaurant near the theater district. This is definitely the beginning of a beautiful friendship! The food is the best Thai food Ive eaten outside of Thailand. For appetizers, I highly recommend the Chiang Mai sausage and the Kra Pow puffs. Both fantastic. The Tom Kha Soup is divine, and the Pad Thai with chicken is perfection. Honestly every dish Ive had here has been perfection. The service is excellent.Very attentive and quite sweet! Our server this evening is SJ. Delightful! Last week we enjoyed Tobys fine service. We just recently moved to Manhattan and we have already found our favorite restaurant.Thank you VIV!
I haven’t been to VIV since before the pandemic and I had forgotten: the food is GREAT. I had the French fry-like fish and a crispy pork with greens and they were both TASTY af.But the real winner was the SERVICE! SJ was so hospitable and helpful. (And my friend loves the New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc !)GO TO VIV
My friend and I had lunch here today as shes a regular and said to me: Youll love it. OMG! She was right! The food is absolutely delicious! We both had the spicy noodle kee-mao (aka drunken noodles) - mine with chicken and hers with shrimp. We split edamame as our appetizer. We sat in the cute outside area. The portions are so generous (we both left with doggy bags). Our server Paul was fantastic too - attentive, fun and efficient!Well definitely be back! Highly recommend if youre in the neighborhood (or even if youre not)!
We sat at the tables and I said I had a shellfish allergy. It was around lunch time so I was already very hungry and we waited about 15 minutes before they let us know that there were about three things on the menu I could eat. Shellfish allergies are common and it is sad they don’t cater to people with them. It wasn’t as if the food was all made of shellfish. They clearly did not want to wash pans and skillets to prevent cross contamination. 0 stars if I could. Please don’t open a “Thai” restaurant next to Times Square if you are gonna be lazy.
ABSOLUTEY love this place. It’s my second time and I still enjoy it.The staff was extremely helpful and nice to us when we asked for separate check on peak hour. The food was gorgeous and delicious. The pork belly in peanut and ginger sauce is a killer. I would go back just for it.Price is reasonable and wait is not bad. We went on a weekend night and only waited 5 min. The decor is great and they serve delicious cocktail as well.I would recommend this place for good Thai food and ambiance.
If i could Give more than five stars i would . I absolutely Loved it here . The staff aaa very friendly and informative . The decor was so beautiful !!!!!!! The food 10/10 , drinks 10/10 , ambiance 10/10 . The food came in large portions . I honestly can’t wait to visit again !
This is an amazing restaurant. The decor and music were fantastic. Beautiful dragon going thru restaurant. The staff were amazing as well as the food. Loved it so much that we went back twice. Recommend the lemongrass porkchop dish and the rama 9. Very good portion sizes.

2022-07-26Terrific food, atmosphere and staff! One of the best flavor-packed Thai restaurants I’ve ever been to - and I frequent Thai food. The Pineapple fried rice makes a statement and the dishes are full of flavor with a great presentation. Don’t hesitate, Viv Thai won’t disappoint. Looking forward to coming back here again!!! :)

2022-01-04Cool ambience and played great music throughout the night, but food is okay. I enjoyed the basil fried rice and pad Thai (not pictured below). The Thai tea was average, definitely had better.

2022-09-10Wow food was amazing. The waiters was friendly too. I definitely taste the authentic Thai flavors. The portion size was decent. You may share it too. That sausage fried rice is definitely hit the spot!

2022-07-09This restaurant is so cute! The inside is very fun, but a little loud. We were lucky to get an outside table in a private seating area that was adorable. The servers are very friendly and outgoing. The presentation of the vegetable spring rolls was very creative and they tasted great!

2022-08-09If we know we can hardly finish half of our entrees, we wouldnt order 2 appertiser. But we didnt regret that cuz their sausage and chicken satay was really great, especially the sausage you should def wrap it with the cabbage and other veggies. My pork chop was a bit sweet but that was Thai style so I was fine with it.

2022-05-22Amazing atmosphere and food! The neon dragon hanging along the ceiling is so cool and clever. We had the Thai sausage appetizer and my friend had the Chinese broccoli with crispy pork belly and I had khao soy. Everything tasted great!

2022-05-19The food, the drinks, the music is great!!!But unfortunately the service wasnt good for us today, we had to literally chase our server. But he was very attentive with other people. We will definitely go back but request a different server.BTW, you gotta try the leeche margarita! 😋

2021-11-15Ambiance was great. Music was a smidge loud but thats ok. We couldnt get a reservation because we werent a party of 5 or more. Wait list wasnt available so we had to just wait. Drinks were incredible! Food was awesome. We got the scallion pancake, calamari, duck and spicy noodles. All hot and yummy. Would definitely return.

2021-12-17We loved this place. It was our 1st time and we were impressed! Great service and even better food. We shared the basil fried rice. I had the Tom Kha soup with tofu. My husband said it was the best basil fried rice he has ever had! I also had their version of a old fashion which is made with ginger simple syrup. Yum!
