Ive been taking guitar and voice lessons at the Voice Academy for about 5 months. In this time, thanks to the Academy, my voice has significantly improved. My singing voice is a lot stronger and is able to project better. My range has even increased! Also, Ive started to learn guitar with Rob. I was in another guitar school for about a year and didnt learn anything. However, after taking guitar lessons with Rob I am learning quickly and I feel more confident in my playing abilities after every class. If you want to learn to sing and play guitar in a supportive, friendly, and non-judgmental environment, the Voice Academy is for you.
Voice Academy NYC is the best! When I was seeking out professional vocal training for my daughter, I wanted only the best. I searched and searched for the perfect place. I found it with Voice Academy NYC. If you could only hear for yourself the incredible difference in my daughters voice in just the past six months since she started there. She has also grown leaps and bounds in her confidence and performance skills. It is truly remarkable. Kat and Rob are both phenomenally talented. My daughter has worked with both of them. Since we are from KY, my daughter takes Skype lessons at least once a week, sometimes more, if she is preparing for a show or audition. We also travel to NYC as often as we can, so she can take in as many classes as possible while we are there. This arrangement has worked out beautifully for us. One thing we love about Kat is, she is a perfectionist when it comes to voice. If my daughter is struggling with pitch or dynamics in a song, she customizes daily exercises to strengthen/correct my daughters voice in those areas. She is so great to work with. She has also helped my daughter prepare for several auditions. She goes above and beyond to help in any way she can. One of our favorite things about Rob is, he is spectacular with music arrangements. He can edit songs for you in a heartbeat. He also has a super fun personality. Another characteristic that I must mention about Rob is, he is an encourager. My daughter always leaves each lesson from Voice Academy feeling she has truly accomplished something great. The encouragement she has received along the way, has made an incredible impact on the goals she has set for herself. Voice Academy NYC also provides performance opportunities. My daughter loved participating in the student showcase at the Bitter End over the summer. She enjoyed it so much. We are looking forward to continuing our journey with Rob and Kat. My daughter continues to see daily improvement in her voice and performance skills. Ive been going to The Voice Academy Nyc for about three years on and off, and every time that Ive taken off I missed going back. Kat and Rob have a way of explaning technics that are otherwise somewhat complicated. They are so gentle yet consistent and assertive. Theyre always so very encouraging and supportive. If you have a goal in mind they will help achieve it. Not only do they help with singing, but almost all aspects of entertainment and performance, writing, even basic piano and guitar lessons. So far Ive only done one showcase, but it was such a great experience that I cant wait to do it again. Overall my breathing, tone, and range has improved so much since being with them.
Kat has been an outstanding voice teacher and a pleasant individual to work with. She has simple, yet effective ways of working your voice. Kat helped my daughter with proper breathing and voice strength. My daughter just signed with a talent agency, and Kats training has played a major role in this.
I have had the great fortune of learning from both Kat and Rob, and I recommend them highly to everyone. I had five singing lessons with Kat and am currently taking singing and guitar lessons from Rob. I came to them as a closet singer. I have been singing all my life but never really had the confidence to sing in front of anyone. I wasnt sure I was good enough; I wasnt sure Id ever do more than sing into a hairbrush in my bedroom. Kat and Rob have changed everything. They gave me confidence. They encourage and support me. They acknowledge my strengths and push me out of my comfort zone. I finally feel like I might actually be a singer after all. They teach techniques like diction but they also teach you how to emote when you sing--how to impart the intangible thing to your audience that leaves them with goosebumps. They are true musicians and teachers and it is an honor to learn from them. Not to mention I learned more in one 45-minute guitar lesson with Rob than I learned in months from my previous teacher.
Rob and Kat have trained both of our kids in voice and instrument (piano and guitar). In addition to being remarkably patient they have an amazing grasp of how to teach. It always amazes me how you can give them any song and a few lessons later they have your kid performing it very capably. Great people too!
I read all the other reviews so I decided to try out Voice Academy in Port Washington Long Island location and I am so happy I did! I tried the 1 lesson but ended up getting a 10-lesson package with Kat. As expected I learned a ton of vocal technique secrets which opened my voice and she taught me how to use my instrument properly :) But Kat is so much fun to work with and has an amazing voice herself! After the lessons I recorded in Port with Rob and now have a professional sounding recording to boot.
I have been taking private lessons with Rob at the Port Washington location for six months now. I noticed a tremendous improvement with my singing voice on all levels especially vocal strength and breathing skills. I achieved great results through the vocal exercises and recordings.Rob is a great inspiration as a true musician and his expertise kindness and patience made me feel very comfortable and allowed me to discover new abilities. I started off taking private lessons with Rob and then eventually graduated to group solo lessons. Over the past four months, I have seen (and heard) a significant improvement in my voice and breathing—Rob really emphasizes proper breathing technique. He is attentive, enthusiastic and encouraging during private lessons and group lessons. Though I still dont love singing in front of people (Im working on it!), I enjoy participating in group lessons and will continue to do so. If you love to sing and want to learn how to sing properly or if you just want to practice singing an original song before a big performance, sign up!
Emma is the first vocal coach I’ve ever had but she is definitely one of the best. She really took the time out to not only give me confidence in my own singing abilities, but also to show me the ways I can maximize my voice to its fullest potential. I saw Emma in preparation for a big audition, and I got one of eight female parts in the show! I’m grateful to Emma not only for her techniques, but also the way in which she teaches.
My daughter has truly improved since taking classes with Kat and Rob! Shes learned more in one lesson then she has in one month! Kat is very supportive but knows how to challenge her! Were looking forward to the recital in April!
The first time I went to Voice Academy i was 7 years old. The first thing Kate said to my mom was she got a unique tone and a lot of potential. That gave me the confidence I need to hear to trust myself. Now I have a great control on my vocal cords. We worked on a song by american idol Pia Toscano that I used for an anty bully video. Pia loved it and posted on her website. I just got a call back from Professional performing Art school and Special Music school auditions thanks to Voice Academy who helped me prepared my song. I first took classes with Katarine and I could see the improvement in my voice in the first few lessons. She not only teaches us to sing, but to understand ourselves, our vocal limits and above all, teaches us to be confident. Then I started my lessons with Azudi and it was a right shot! I needed to know how to perform and he is the best one to teach you. He makes you understand that you’re capable to do anything and to be anyone you want when you’re on stage.
Two weeks ago I started my voice lessons with Kat and Rob. I must say without reservation, this is a phenomenal school. In such a short time, I have noticed a difference in my vocal tone and depth. Voice Academy is the best experience which ever happened in my life since I tried to sing . Kate accompanied me from the very first moment: starting with the first phone conversation about the NYC state of mind inspiration and then being with me during all the moments: she helped me to get the orientation prior to my course: what I shall consider, then I chose a teacher and she discovered me all the tricks which could help me to take more from this teacher; she helped me to get a key board that I could practice without any obstacles and gave me all the information where I can practice additionally, what places are recommended for singers and so on: so I really got a very individual and a friendly approach, however I was really nervous about how it would be going here in NYC and I addressed many annoying questions all the time: but she had a lot of patience and tried to help me out in all the aspects from the very beginning till the end: till the moment of the recording session. THANK YOU so MUCH, KATE! ... ... ... My teacher is Azudi: I have never had such an amazing and talented teacher who was able to discover in me so many new abilities and who could inspire me so much !!! !!! That was a dream to work with him!!! !!! He is very very positive and supportive!!! !!! THANK YOU so MUCH, AZUDI!!! !!! ... ... At the end when I had the recording session I got acquainted closer to Rob (he is also a teacher, but his role in my story was as recording engineer). He was very flexible offering the recording session time: the recording session was amazing: he managed to find the right approach to me to make me show my abilities. THANK YOU so MUCH, ROB! ... ... ... The Voice Academy is not just the service: it is a great team of the professionals who are sincerely interested in the results of the students. I took in a group of students for singing lessons and Rob was very helpful. He was very flexible with the needs of the students and taught them a lot about singing in general as well as had them sing to songs. Needless to say the students had a lot of fun and really enjoyed the experience. I would definitely recommend the Voice Academy to anybody!
I am impressed by Kats classes. She taught me a lot of technics in singing. Now I can work with kids and correct myself during the proccess of singing. It was a great experience. And one more thing is very important-she provides a certificate after the course so you can prove that you took vocal classes.
Ive took private vocal lessons with both kat and Rob and they are both great teachers. You feel like you can be yourself and they also help you feel comfortable to open up and come out of your shell as a singer. I am still learning a lot about myself as a singer and I plan to continue my journey here as a performer.
Ive only had around 6 sessions with Kat & Rob & I already see a 200% improvement in my voice. They have helped not only with vocal technique, but with stage presence & audition tips. Cant wait to continue learning with them!
Ive been taking lessons with Kat for the past 3 months as a beginner. Shes professional, a great coach and been very supportive on the journey. Its been a blast! Highly recommend.
Overall my experience was great in the beginning. I had lots of fun with Rob Nolfe and was always excited to go to the classes. However as time progressed, we always ended up talking most of the time and not singing. He needs to learn how to control his students and learn time management as well. He also talks about his family, money and politics which I personally think it is not ok to talk with students, especially younger ones and teens because they can be so influential, and only those topics should be discussed with family and close friends, not in a student and teacher relationship.I started to become more conscious of what I was doing and if it was a good use of my time. Overall if you were to ask me what I was learning today during those vocal training, I would not be able to tell you because honestly I have no idea what Im doing there.

This is the most amazing vocal lesson classes there is. They teach awesome technique. I just auditioned for the voice and honestly without these lessons I would not have been ready. The teachers are phenomenal and so kind and patient. I recommend these classes for anyone and they Really help .
Jonna is an amazing teacher. In every class, she brings positive energy. Something I needed after a few long work days! Her patience, insight, and approach to explaining techniques has been greatly appreciated. Couldn’t recommend enough!!

Their Saturday group class teacher is way too snippy snappy. He actually snaps his fingers when he talks and is overly aggressive.
I pay for a session, I went at the day it says and nobody was there. Beautiful.

I have taken six lessons from Kat in vocal coaching and received so much help. Its amazing how much you can learn and develop in just six hours with her. I have not only received voice coaching but also tips on how to make a good appearance, even a little mental coaching that has helped me in my personality development and strengthened my self-esteem.These lessons have given me inspiration and courage to dare to do my own thing and develop it. Kat is very good at finding ways to emphasize your voice and all the exercises you get to do with her are customized and meant to strengthen your voice and your expression. 2018-08-12I took voice lessons with Kat for about three months and the experience has been amazing! I can totally see improvement in my voice and the lessons were really engaging and fun. After having tried a few voice teachers back in Louisiana and not seeing any improvement, it was such a joy working with Kat who is extremely knowledgeable and cares about your progress. 100% recommend!

They helped me get ready for an audition and gave me the effective singing instructions and the confidence I needed to enhance my performance. 2014-05-08I have been taking voice lessons with Kat since 2009. She is an amazing vocal coach. I have improved in many aspects such as stage performance, and my voice has without a doubt gotten stronger. She has a very good way with approaching teaching vocal technique. She is very kind but strict and extremely professional. Rob, who teaches guitar and does studio recording is also extremely professional. Love Voice Academy NYC!

I stumbled across Voice Academy NYC earlier this year in March, and it changed my life forever.Rob and Kat both strike the perfect balance between professionalism and friendliness. They are very knowledgeable in their field. Their background is extremely impressive, thus making their work seem all the more credible.This academy provides opportunities which challenges you to fulfill the potential that they see in you. 2015-05-16My 13 year old daughter takes voice lessons with Kat and absolutely loves her. I saw a difference in her voice within the first couple of weeks. She is really patient and tries really hard to help her reach her goal not only with her lesson but also searching and finding information that can help her. Her voice has improved and so has her confidence. Kat and Rob are really super nice people and I am so happy I found them.

2016-08-15I have taken voice coaching sessions from Kat this year (2016). I have to say first that Kat is the sweetest person. I had never taken private vocal coaching sessions before so I was a little nervous. I had searched on the Internet to find the person that was a best fit for me and what i needed to learn. Thats when I came across Voice Academy. I read Kats bio which was very impressive. I also like to hear a coachs voice when singing and Kat did not disappoint. My decision was made. The first day Kat made me feel very comfortable. I found Kat to be a wonderful coach. She gave me some great techniques for my singing. I am a gospel singer who wanted to sing with more clarity and to increase my range and also to learn breathing techniques. Kat helped me to bring out all of these in the 10 vocal coaching sessions that we had. Even my sisters tell me that they can hear a difference in my voice and my music ministry leader gave me a nice compliment on a song I sang one Sunday morning. With all of the tips and techniques Kat has shown me I am becoming a better singer. I will soon begin planning for a second music CD and this time I will have everything I need in my arsenal to make it great. Thanks Kat.

2015-06-15Our daughter started taking classes with Kat at their Port Washington location when she was 7 years old and her growth has been amazing! We see such a difference in her voice and her confidence as a singer. She has already performed twice, and one of them at the famous NYC The Bitter End! Kat and Rob have such a talent to work with young people. We have gladly recommended them to our friends.
