I ordered the roast pork large, $7. I thought the pork lacked flavor (missing of salty and sweetness). There was too little cabbage, just enough meat but an overabundance of rice. For a highly rated restaurant, I wouldve expected better. There was like a 10 minute wait time during the weekday just before noon.
Great food for very reasonable prices. This is probably the best 三寶飯 (three treasures over rice) you can get in NYC, and it is also the cheapest I’ve seen compared to Flushing and other Chinatown spots. Their char siu is really what makes them shine, and they put a good amount of it on every plate. Just be prepared to wait for around 15 minutes and have cash. There is no seating but there are plenty of benches in the park across the street.
Social media platforms have really given this place a lot of publicity and justly so. If youre new to the area or visiting, keep in mind that this isnt the best duck place in NYC and that youre not going to get a meal thatll change your life. Youll get a platter with your choice of meat over rice and some delicious steamed cabbage. Its fast food, but very delicious. If all fast food were this affordable and delectable, wed probably be eating out more!
One of the best cheap eats in NYC. The cost for the small box is $4.75 and $7 for the larger one. The quality and quantity for the price is really good. The rice was dry when I got to the bottom and could use more of that delicious sauce. Highly recommended!! Update: there has been a price change recently. The large plate now costs $7.75.
The best food I ever had! the meat is freshly cooked, perfectly seasoned. The rice and veggies are fresh as well. Go early to be able to get duck meat. Prepare for a 10-20 minute waiting in line, but it’s all worth it.If you are lucky and the grandpa sets your plate- it’s a happy day. The other youngster there adds little sauce, a few veggies and definitely less meat.
Its a cardinal sin not to be graced by this place in your lifetime if you ever come to new york and claim to be a foodie. it is a must have for all chefs in the city- the simplicity of the food is what makes it so good. no frills here just rice and cabbage with your choice of protein. the small plate is enough to have leftovers so i would get a large for two to share if youre on a food tour perhaps. the wait in the line is well worth it.
This is a great cheap place to get food in chinatown. I won’t lie, i’ve had better places that make the exact same dish, but it was still good. I felt the portions of duck and barbecue pork were fair (maybe a little stingy on the duck). It also comes with cabbage and white rice, all for 8.25.The meats all had good flavor. The line builds outside and took me around 15 mins. Once you’re inside, it’s an in and out process, it’s just getting there. You can see the butcher cutting up duck so you know it’s authentic. I also believe it’s cash only.
After waiting 35 minutes in line, this place did not live up to the hype. The food is okay and I would say is average compared to other places on my travels. The portion and price are good for New York tho.For New yorkers this place might be great but comparing it to street food in other countries its average. And not worth the waiting time..If there is no line, I would recommend.
Wah Fung is still THE OG spot for a cheap box of Cantonese BBQ in Manhattan. The char siu is perfectly tender, crispy on the outside, and topped with a sweet sauce. For $5, you get a small, but extremely dense box packed with pork, cabbage, and rice. I dont think anything in Manhattan matches the quality to value ratio here.
Food quality + wait on line + cost. I dont get this place. I had the BBQ pork with rice. The taste was just OK/not amazing. The portions were reasonable for what I paid for. I ordered an entire duck to go - it was just OK and was only $2 less than the place that I normally go to, which has much, much better duck. I dont think its worth the 30 min I had to wait on line. I will try again when the line is really short - maybe it was an off day for them.
Good food for the price. It definitely fills you up and leaves you satisfied. If i had to be extremely picky about my meal it would be that I did get a couple of bones in my chicken that could have been replaced with actual chicken ,but nonetheless, it was still worth it. The cabbage was good as well. I would recommend the pig, the fatty was so crunchy and nicely toasted with flavor. I would definitely recommend
So-this is a toughie; some people who have been in love with this place may call blasphemy on what I say about them.We were so excited to try this place from everything wed seen and heard about it, like Im sure you have. Heres what I think, I think that, unfortunately, they are falling into that trap of complacency of riding on their popularity and name. We purchased and received two hefty packages, one of pork and one of duck. The price was roughly just over $10 ea. When we first tried it and that flavor hit is, it seems truly incredible; its so succulent and flavorful. However, here comes why I couldnt give it five, but generously gave them four stars. The pork dish was primarily fat, like we paid for 60%-70% fat. The duck was not fatty, it was very good. After you get into it, you do realize that the marinade is way over salty. Then, kind of disappointing is that they only give a tiny amount of cabbage, and then the rest of the bulk is the rice-which is tasty, yes, but greasy. So the most disappointing aspect was with the pork literally being over half of just pure, inedible fat, and then the other points just brought it down from stellar. Next time we would try one of the other shops to see how they compare.
Came here after seeing a couple of YouTube videos. Ended up waiting around an hour in line, which is fine as there’s a lot of things to keep you occupied whether it be the busy park across the street or the conversations in line with people from all over the world. The restaurant is a small shop enough room for a couple people at a time. Came in for the classic BBQ pork on rice, which is currently $4.75 USD. Good little meal that will keep your belly full enough to get to the next snack in a few hours!
Some of the best char siu and roast duck Ive had! Sweet, salty pork drizzled in delicious sauce, nice smoky duck, all on a bed of veggies and rice, Wah Fung provides a complete meal at a great price! Also, the portion sizes are pretty big, I could barely finish the large box, and Ill definitely get the small next time.
Though people regularly queue for the food, I dont see the hype. I got the duck over rice, which comes with cabbage. Food was very greasy, including the cabbage. Duck is naturally fatty, but you need to walk the line between rich and greasy. Meat lacked flavor and desperately needed salt.
The roast pork is a little too chewy. The pork belly is excellent. And the price is great ($8 for large pork mix) They will yell at you to stand in the rain when its raining, rather than under the awning of the neighboring business, or redirecting the line to in front of the closed business, and that is not cool since the wait can be 20 minutes. I think the fast in the name of the business is misleading.
Fantastic food. Hard to get Chinese bbq meat this good for this quantity for this price. Duck had good fat content and juicy. Pork was solid. Line moved at an ok pace but probably wouldn’t want to do it too often. 25 min wait Saturday for lunch. Easy and comfortable to eat at park across the street.
For that price and that quality, it can’t be beat! My advice is to skip the stalls and get the larges which are nearly twice the portion for maybe $2 more. I love the barbecued pork and the roast pork combo and eating them for two meals. We love to see a bargain in the city!
The food was so mediocre. It went down hill since the last time i had it. They keep increasing the price steadily dollar by dollar but not the quality of the food. The meat was dry and didnt have enough juice. They didnt even give up the veggies. Would never visit again.
The best thing about this place is bang for your buck. You get a hefty size for around $7. We got their duck and pork individually, and Im pretty sure Ive had better roasted duck and pork from other places. They lean towards the sweeter side, so if you like that, youll like this place. I prefer balance in my food. I like sweet and salty in roasted duck/pork so this doesnt fit my palate. Theres also lots of tourists here. If I were a local, its not worth the long line.
This is a must!! We are visiting this area and found this on places to go from a YouTube channel. We had to wait in a line down the block, but only took about 15 min. Totally worth it. I got the large pork and rice, and my boyfriend got the large duck and rice. The portions are gigantic, a large can easily feed about 2-3 people. You can say we had leftovers. The pork was just amazing, the sweet glaze was so tasty and the juice mixed with the rice was mouthwatering. The duck was good also but super greasy and hard to eat because of the bones so it wasn’t as enjoyable. More of a hassle. Not a fan of the grease, but it was flavorful. Also it was less that $8 for a large, what a deal. Come to this place if your looking for a cheap, flavorful, hearty meal
Based on the price and location, it’s super worthy to taste their grill meats, especially the duck燒鴨, pork叉燒, and pig火肉! I have chosen three combinations 三寶飯 that is full of juicy meats and full of grill smell! Though the duck skin is not that kind crispy and transparent to see the texture, it is a fast food store to satisfy your lunch stomach in a rush and delicious way!
Cash only. The lines can get very long but it is worth the wait. The BBQ meats are served with a bed of rice and cabbage. To explore the world of Chinese BBQ meats for $5 is unbeatable.I would recommend going there earlier. I went an hour before closing and the ran out of cabbage, which is essential to the meal.
This place is insane !Always long line, but who cares?Believe me! Worth to wait!I rarely eat meat but I love duck, (only the legs) and here (for me) it’s enough to order the small portion the guy always fill up the container full full! And I got those legs! Sometimes I love fancy food, sometimes I love street food depend on my mood (they are the best)For $5 in NYC sounds like a joke, but they keep it real!
5 stars for the affordability and amount you get. I ordered large roasted pork (bbq) and roasted pig, and small roasted chicken. All for $12-13. Chicken is so-so, not really flavorful. But roasted pork and pig are great. I went there around 6pm and waited for about half an hour.
Surprised it took this long to make of a review, been coming here for awhile and it never disappoints. Wah Fung has been doing thier thing for a long time, food is always cooked well, portions are great and you really get the most bang for your buck. Each selection is is great, my favorite is the half pork and half chicken, theres never been a time that Ive ever had a n issue with the service or quality of food. Theres always a line so be ready to wait, but it goes fast and closed on Mondays. Definitely a go to spot so dont hesitate and try it out you wont be disappointed.
Wah Fung is obviously a local favorite, with some long lines on the weekend! However, the line moves fast and the food is worth it. Pricing is really great so you get a good amount of food for a low price. The meat is super tender and flavorful. Two minor warnings- 1) vegetarians probably won’t find many options here, and 2) the duck meat comes with bones in it, so be prepared to eat with your hands and work around some bones!
Great tasting affordable Chinese fast food. A staple Chinese food spot o. Chrystie St. for years... The menu is limited, so the choices are few. White rice, steamed cabbage and your choice of chicken, roast pork, or duck. $5 for small, $7 for large and there a generous portion of meat given. Expect to stand on the out the door line since its no secret anymore.
A little shop that has small lunch and dinners to go, you can get your choice of meat over rice with a little bit of vegetable, or just get meat to go. A small rice roast pork or chicken is 4.75 all the time, a great value in Chinatown. Theres no seating inside, theres only enough space for two orders at a time and the line outside is usually pretty long.
Interestingly enough apparently the online menu posted on google maps is not the one they offer.I walked in ready to order shrimp noodle rolls and fried rice with shrimp and fried rice with chicken and the person behind the counter just shook his head.I showed another customer the menu in the google and he did that menu is not what they offer. So, not sure what happened here... wrong menu?!Then I asked another customer if they have chicken and rice and the had. So that’s what I got! 2 portions of chicken and rice for.... wait for it....$9!!!!
Best Combo! Get the duck or pork or a combination of the two for $6:50-$7:00. Despite the long line it moves quickly and is worth the wait. Ask for a side of the broth to moisten the rice when reheating. Portions are large and definitely more than one serving. BBQ Pork
One of the best fast food Chinese restaurants in China Town!. Its run by old school hard working and very gracious proprietors who once had a little Street cart on Hester Street back in the days! The sidewalk culture that patronize this establishment are predominantly millennials. They wait patiently making eye contact with the guys who make your order. They then waves you in and prepare your order through a contactless booth. Only two customers are allowed in at one time because its a small cramped buy and go/takeout only setting.I ordered a half duck over rice w/steamed and cabbage. It set me back $14. The Peking Glazed duck couldve been seasoned better but was tasty nonetheless and Ill be back. This place is highly recommended and I urge you to support Asian/Chinese own businesses like this. Not only are they fun to visit and get your food. They are gracious and happy to serve you!
There was quite a long line to get some food but when i got inside there was only two hard working cooks. I ordered the roasted chicken with rice and it was well worth the wait. The chicken was tasty and the sauce was delicious. The rice was perfectly cooked as well. I would say waiting on line is worth it over here.
Cash only spot, but the best of the best quality cheap eats you can find anywhere! The food is extremely filling. I have trouble even finishing up a small. The roast meat itself (whichever you pick will be delicious) is of course the main star, but I also love the bits of vegetables beneath the meat that soaks up grease and balance the savoriness with sweetness.
It’s a small restaurant only do take out and there are basically only 3 things on the menu. Chinese roasted pork ( Char Sui ), roasted ducks and marinated chicken. You can order different size of lunch box with your choice of meat(s) with rice and cabbage or order the meat by weight. There was a long line but it moved very fast. The Char Sui and their sauces are a bit on the sweeter side than the authentic one I used to have in Hong Kong and in China. The taste and texture may be not the best you can find but the portion size and price is unbeatable, which deserve a 5 stars overall.
This place sales roast pork, roast duck, chicken and a few other things. It always has a line. Ive visit this place only when the line is short. Their food is great and they definitely have the secret sauce. I recommend getting roast pork. Its just mouth watering good. The issue from observation from years of visiting this place is that theres only one person chopping the meat and handling the cash. Lately, theres finally someone collecting the cash after the items are boxed. That still leaves 90% of the work to one person thats overworked when servicing customers. What the owner needs is more people streamlining the chopping and packaging. Why cant the cashier also fill boxes with rice for those ordering? And for the person chopping, its a damn hard job to do all day with something razor sharp butcher knife and it is heavy. If they bought an automated chopper, the line would move so much faster and theyd make so much more money while at it for a few person operation. We all want to see this place grow in volume and thrive. Their growth has been stagnant since the dawn of time. And while this isnt somewhat foreseeable in the future, those $2.50 mini lunch boxes were such a hit, Id want that coming back some day. Its a quick meal its always been filling to keep me going when I pass by.
The best $5 you’ll ever spend. The line can be quite long. It’s worth the wait. If you see people just walk in ahead of the line, they’re there for the noodle spot in the back and not trying to cut the line.Food is excellent; I always get the small platter and regret not buying the larger one. The roast pork is excellent. Friendly and fast service too.
Great spot for a cheap eat! $4.50 for a small roast chicken or pork with rice and cabbage. The cabbage is amazing! The roast pig with rice and cabbage combo is $1 more and also worth it. There is usually a line but it moves relatively quick. Cash only place and fast service!
10/10 hit the spot. The line on a friday night was 10 heads, contantly replenishing itself. Worth the wait. Great bbq sauce. Soft cabbage. Soft sticky rice, falls apart just right and nice texture. Cha ciew here is fire. Fo yok is fire. And duck wings also fire. For the price you will not find anywhere for this portion and taste. Best bang for your buck. Calorie wise and taste wise. 😋
There is always a line here, no matter the time of day, which is a pretty good sign. We got the roast pork/duck/chicken combo with rice. The roast pork was very good, the roast duck and chicken were good, but not the best ever. For the price however (approx $7 for the large) it was overall good value. We waited almost 45 minutes in line, but if the line were shorter, wed go back.
Been wanting to try this place for ages and we finally made it there! Went on a Saturday afternoon and there was a line out the door. It did move quickly though. Menu is small and written clearly so ordering is simple enough. We got the small 2 meat with a side of veggies, on rice. It was $4.50!!!! Go!
Can’t beat the prices here. $4.50 or $5.50 for basically meat over rice and veggies. You can also order char siu or roast pork or duck or chicken by the lb if u like. Cash only and theres always a line but it goes fast, 10-20min wait time. And if u need a place to sit and eat the park across has many benches. A must try in chinatown
I do not understand the hype about this place .. AT ALL… 40 minute wait for food Court quality Chinese food. I’m being 100% when I say there is absolutely nothing special about the meal we got from this place … at all. Plus we got gigantic pieces of lard and bone !And the vegetables below the meat made the rice soggy..
I order the takeout and tried it after 3 hours. It is still the BEST roast pork I have ever tried in my life! Definitely come back to city again just for it! No regret in all dimensions, not only for the taste, but also for the price. Regret that they do not have indoor dinning.
Went during sunday lunch hour, and the line/wait was probably 20-30 minutes. i didn’t mind, had good company and it was nice out, but just a fair warning to anyone considering coming. we ordered a small pork and a small duck, and got two beautiful bricks of food for like 10 bucks. ask for scallion ginger sauce too. pork was probably my favorite because it’s drippings were better absorbed in the rice and cabbage it’s served with but the duck was also great if you dont mind eating around the bone . great flavor and just really filling, simple food. probably one of the best deals in all of manhattan
Ordering process is almost like Soup Nazi from Seinfeld. They are more accommodating for modified orders - if you speak Mandarin. Generally very fast food service with four meats to choose from and various combinations depending on what you want. Chicken, roast pork (red color), crispy pork belly, and duck (only saw these meats when I was there). I chose three meat combination which came out to be around $7.50 for the large lunch box (rice and cabbage). They gave a mountain of meat which sadly I couldnt finish. The crispy pork belly was my favorite meat. Would visit again!
The roast pork, cabbage, and rice lunch meal is great ! Only $4.75 for a cheap but filling and delicious meal. The chef stacks cabbage on top of perfectly cooked rice, and then layers freshly chopped roast pork on top. Then a drizzle of sauce to finish it, simple but amazing !The line was very long but moved pretty quick.Would absolutely eat here again.
Nice amount of meat was given and tasted great for the price. I got the roasted duck and pork served with rice, the rice was slightly overcooked but the meat was great my favorite was the roasted pork, the duck was ok since there where fragment of bone still attached be careful if you eat it whole, but overall great food for a low price but the line outside was a long wait.
This is a popular place to get chinese roast meat in Manhattan chinatown. There’s always a long line so be prepared to wait at least 30 minutes to an hour. The roast pork is tender and you can pick between lean part and fatty part. Combos on rice is a bargain and portion is big enough for two people. They have a smaller size with meat and rice which is a bargain for a full meal.
Definitely best value item, a cheap spot for quality Chinese roasted meat. The char siu (roasted pork) is one of the best I have ever had, the duck and chicken are decent too. Come with lots of vegetables to ensure a balanced(?) diet. Just beware of the long line, I visited on a Saturday at 1:30pm and probably waited in the cold for at least 15mins, but thats also because they took social distancing seriously and only allow 2 customer at a time.
Incredible value - never spent more than $8 for a lunch that leaves you filled. Its not fancy, take out only. Lines move super fast and the service is friendly. They have phenomenal pork, duck and chicken - duck is where its at. This is a gem for sure but the line can get long around lunch. Fast & efficient
Luckily there was no line when we went and the service was really fast. Only $4.25 for a small container of roast chicken and rice or noodles. Even though I got a small, I still couldnt finish it since they give a lot of meat. I would recommend the chicken with noodles though it is a little greasy. The chicken is one of the best Ive had in a while.
Pricing wise it was extremely good it was about $7 for a healthy portion of pork and rice with some vegetables in the bottom. The rice is good and the vegetables were decent the pork had a good flavor but I did have a few chunks of fat which werent that pleasant but besides that overall a very good experience.
This place is such a steal!! For the price, cant get better than this! You can get a small for $5 or large for $7. They pack your container with so much meat, rice, and cabbage and then they pour this sauce over it which makes it absolutely delicious!!I got to try all three meat options (duck, pork, chicken). They arent as tender as the meats Im used to. A lot of the meats were kinda dry (but Im assuming thats why they put the sauce over the meats). The chicken was the most tender but the bbq pork was the meat I enjoyed the most. The sauce was really the best part!! Soaked with the meat and rice, it was the perfect combination.Theres no seating inside and its cash only. Theres typically a line but goes by super fast!!
Excellent, everything people said it is. 1 star down because the duck was not as good as the pork and there isnt a place to sit. Ill have to try the chicken next time but 1 thing is for sure, I will be back... Especially at this price. Only cash folks plus bring quarters as its just easier to give exact change.
The Famous Wah Fung in Chinatown, New York will immediately meet you with a long line of people anxiously waiting to taste their famous roasted duck, chicken, and pig. By all standards, Wah Fung is a humble establishment but its fame, the long lines, and the delicious smell of roasted meat will beckon any foodie to its doors.Upon entering the small storefront, the sound of cleavers chopping meat, the smell of succulent roasted meat, and the sight of the hanging ducks in the window will greet you. The fast moving workers will ask for your order and I suggest that you know exactly what you want before you step into the establishment. Luckily, there are only a combination three options to choose from: roasted duck, pork, and chicken over a bed white rice and cabbage. You can order any combination of these three meats with the price ranging from $5.00-$7.00 depending on the size of your portion. The food, by any standard is excellent but because of its extremely affordable price, the value is truly unbeatable, especially in the heart of Manhattan. Now, lets talk about the taste. Each meat is uniquely delicous (my favorite being the cha siu), and the the slightly sour cabbage that drapes over the rice cuts the fatty flavor perfectly. The massive bed of rice, the the base of the dish, soaks up the excess juices wonderfully. This old-school chinatown joint is a must visit for anybody visiting New York City that I highly recommendFreshbite.org
I was excited to check this place out based upon the reviews and seeing it on tiktok. Super disappointed. The pork was not crispy nor was it seasoned. Rice was super sticky and cabbage was not cooked just looked like it was wilted. The sauce was watered down - literally no seasonings at all. Glad I ordered a small 4.75! I am glad I was able to get my brisk ice tea. Thumbs down on the food. I guess you should not believe the hype!
Line was long initially but moved reasonably fast. Food was really delicious. The roast pork was the best in my opinion - most flavorful and edible. Roast duck and chicken was mixed with bones in the combo, and leave small bones in the rice. But would definitely go again.
What can I say? For $5 you get delicious food that not only taste good, but will fill you up. They dont do credit cards or debit cards, so definitely bring cash with you. When I visit their restaurant again Im definitely getting more of the roasted pork. I dont know what kind of marinade they use what kind or spices they infuse into the pork, but the roasted pork is out of this world!
Came here on a Saturday afternoon and the wait time was about 15 minutes. Ordered their $4 roast pork on rice special. It also comes with steamed Chinese cabbage which was a bit overcooked but was still pretty good. Roast pork was flavorful and tasted authentic but did not wow me. Some pieces of the pork were a bit on the skinny (with no fat) side and some had a great skinny pork to fat ratio. Definitely worth the $4 and would have to come back to try their crispy roast pig.
I had the roast pork and roast duck on rice witj cabbage. ~$7.50. It was probably the best version Ive ever had. The duck was so deeply cooked that you could easily chew through the bone. The pork was succulent - not too fatty. The sauce was great. 4 stars because they dont give enough sauce, and I also dont think its worth queueing for 50 minutes. The rice is also a little bit dry.
Its a small place with no seat so 100% take away. The shop is really busy. The waiting line keeps getting longer. Waiting time will be around 10 minutes minimum. Their food is great and super cheap. A meal with 2 meats (pork/chicken/duck) with rice and veggi is $6. Cannot find any meal that is cheaper and has the same quality in NYC
This place will always be an awesome option. Where else in NYC can you have a full meal with leftovers for less than 10$?! Well here you can - you’ll spend about 4.50$ if you get a small portion, and a 5.50$/6$ if you get a large.A portion of what, you might ask: simple white rice topped with a meat if your choice among char siu pork, roasted chicken, roasted duck, or roasted pig, with a side of cooked cabbage.Just FYI: one large potion will be enough for two, unless you actually want leftovers (like we did). The char siu pork is flavorful, juicy, and always nice and tender. The chicken is honestly some of the best I’ve had, regardless of the price. The roasted duck is delicious: crispy skin, juicy meat. But my absolute favorite has to be the roasted pig. Anytime I go and get a classic platter O end up getting a pound of roasted pig to go.What you’ll get is tender juicy pork, with crispy skin on top (yes the crispy delicious rind) - and you’ll only pay 9$ for a whole pound. Who wouldn’t want some to go???You can also choose to have it over rice - so you can’t miss out on it.If you’ve never been here, trust me, you need to make your way to it ASAP. You’ll definitely thank me (and your stomach and wallet will too).
Awesome place to go and then eat in the park nearby. Prices are low but cash only. The food is quick and it’s really satisfying to watch them cut the meat you ordered right in front of you. The meats soft and flavorful and comes on a bed of rice and veggies. They didn’t have duck when I went so I will be back!

2022-05-15Nothing really to say besides this is my go to spot for Cantonese BBQ. Everyone in NYC knows this is the best cheap eats spot if you want a quick bite. Luckily the lines haven’t been too long lately but the food comes out super fast anyways so you won’t be in time for too long. I would definitely recommend getting the 3 meat combo so you get to try a variety of meats. 1000% would come back to this place.

2022-05-19Came and had the roast pork over rice. Amazing little shop, we queued for about 20 minutes. See the guys in action making up the food, take out and cash only, then ate in the park. Our portions were massive and tasted delicious, so much meat and an amazing sticky sauce. Will say however that it wasn’t quite as flavourful as the hype hence the 4 instead of the 5, but still a must try for Chinatown in NYC.

2022-07-09Long wait, but its worth it. Get the duck. For me its the best tasting. My wife goes for the roast pork. The line goes around the corner at lunch and dinner time. Take your food across the street too the park to eat. There is no seating inside.

2022-07-23Chinatown’s best little secret. Always has a line of people because it’s soooo good. We got the pork with rice in two sizes: small and medium plus two cans of soda, all for $14. If you’re around and hungry try it. You will find a nice little park to eat in front. You won’t regret!

2022-06-19I tried the roasted pig and it was wonderful. Returned the next day to get the same. It was super crispy and tasted like fatty pork belly. Goes very good with the white rice and boiled cabbage. Must try in NYC. Roasted pork and roasted chicken are in the sweeter side. Roasted duck is also present.

2022-07-05This place is still great since the last time I was here! Consistency is key!As of 7/2022 the prices have gone up slightly ($1 more in my case) but thats understandable with the state of the world/economy these days.I ordered the Char Siu and Crispy pork belly ($8) and it was fantastic! My favorite is still the char siu (roasted pork) with the tender, juicy flavors but the pork belly still holds its own (with the skin was more crispy). Good amount of food as well for the price!

2022-07-19Objectively it’s decent, the rice is sometimes not the perfect softness and you have to wait like 15 min. But it’s legendary tho. And the roast pork is amazing. 100/10

2022-04-07Im sure the pandemic has taken a toll on Wah Fung in some way, but its lost 2 stars from me on this visit. Last Sunday I got in line just as it opened the door at 9 am. I was the fifth in line. I noticed it was a lady instead of 2 men as I remembered manning the cutting board. And for 15 whole minutes she did not serve one single person, just keep cutting and moving meats. The line was like 12 people by now and everyone was really annoyed; me especially because my wife was waiting in the car which was in a temporary spot. When the line finally started moving, it was still much slower than I had remembered because it was now a one-man operation. I ended up spending 30 minutes waiting before I finally get to order my duck lunchboxes. In retrospect, I figured the man must have been late and the lady was just buying time help getting thing ready. In exchange for the long wait was not fruition but even more disappointments. The large size boxes that I ordered were now more like 90 part white rice, 5 part cabbage, and 5 part duck. And aside from the drum piece, the duck was essentially fat and bones, and it was not flavorful nor savory to go with any rice. In the end Im left with a gross amount of rice with nothing to go with it. OK, the price may have only gone up by $1.25 but the quality and value had gone down the drain. If I do come back at all, the only thing Ill get would be the BBQ pork. At least its boneless and it would go with rice much better than the pathetic duck they served me on this visit.

2022-06-20When I arrived here, cash in hand, I spent about twenty minutes in a line. Finally I got the roast pork with rice. It tastes fantastic and you get a lot of food for a very good price. Its a great budget-friendly place in Chinatown, and you can walk to the park right across the street to eat it.
