Great neighborhood greasy spoon for classic american diner food. Great diner with great diner music. (Classic rock from the 70s 80s 90s). I ordered roast beef which comes with 3 sides: Manhattan clam chowder, a baked potato, and steamed broccoli. The roast beef is served well done with gravy on top. Overall decent.
The 3 egg omelets from Wahi Diner have gotten me through many dark moments. Any time I’m down I order one and it arrives perfectly cooked within 30 minutes. Other favorites are the mozzarella sticks and their excellent pancakes. A really essential restaurant in this neighborhood.
Horrible service from Manny! So I order a sandwich and paid for it, sat down at the resturant, waited in the store for about 15-20 minutes to find out he gave away the food to a man who just came in because the person who took our order was wondering why we were still sitting there waiting for the food!! After a while I wanted my refund back ( i didn’t want to wait 20 more mins for my food all over again ) and he gave it to me, he THEN said the food is almost ready, and I responded I think it should be free because he made the mistake because he was on his phone talking to other friends not paying attention. He then said yes okay. I WAIT THERE FOR 10 minutes to be told what are we waiting for? And he acts confused and says what are you guys waiting for? I told him you said to wait there already making it and he said I already refunded you, there’s nothing coming! This is complete HORRIBLE SERVICE FROM MANNY WHO COMPLETELY did NOT provide any good customer service, did not care that we didn’t get our food and went back on his PHONE , did not apologize!! on top of that was RUDE!
Everything you look for in a no frills diner. Food was solid, staff was friendly and service fast.Had the he-man (french toast eggs and sausage). I dont eat pork so I subbed out for turkey alternatives which cost a couple dollars extra. Only minor quibble was that I expected larger pieces of french toast since it was listed as challah french toast but otherwise the food was good and the portion was actually just right so in the end I was happy 😂
This was my first time coming here and I must say the menu is intense! Lol. (So many choices!!) But I ordered fried eggs with turkey sausage and a belgian waffle which came to about $12. It was okay.. Everything was cold and the waffle had no flavor and my eggs werent fried hard. But I might give them another chance just to be fair!
Server was rude. I get it you’re busy but there’s no reason to take it out on the customer. I was a server for several years in high school and college so I totally get the server life. There was a mixup about the gravy. So I’m not even going to play he said she said about it. I wasn’t going to trip over the misunderstanding but the server was really rude about it. Super unnecessary..
Good diner in the Heights (well okay, its the only diner in the Heights). 24/7 with fair prices. Even their limited wine list is passable for a diner. My only complaint is that they still use plastic utensils, probably a hold-over from the pandemic, and they dont offer multi-grain toast or whole-wheat pancakes. Also no Guest WiFi, although its possible to pick-up WiFi from other networks in the area. My preferred servers are Ruby and Mira.
Ordered A burger medium well got it well done, The rice pudding was old like it’s been pre-packed for days. Also had special instructions not to ring the bell cause my child was asleep, after I called to make sure to give these instructions to the driver they never told him to don’t ring my buzzer! Terrible food and service!
Great local traditional Diner with friendly staff and friendly prices. What first caught my eye was the eggs starting from just $5 for a healthy hearty breakfast. Ultimately, I was swayed for the bagel with lox and it was incredibly fresh and very delicious! Good COVID measures in place. Would definitely recommend!
Last night I called while he Diner I asked for a pizza burger medium it came medium well. This morning I thought okay it wasnt the pizza burger I wanted so lets get the pizza burger I want this morning I ordered it around 11:30 It came it was also medium well I call wahi I speak to an Armando who says hes the manager and he tells me very clearly if you want to meet Ian Burger order it medium rare. I always understood that people in the kitchen were responsible for the doneness of the food that was presented or delivered and if those people know that that food needs to be at a certain degree arent they the ones that should know how to pull it off the grill before its over done and before residual heat does its thing?! To be treated like I am an enemy and to be told not to order from an institution because they cant get their degree of done this correct is an Abomination and I understand this institution is a Latino institution but I dont see them treating Latino people with this type of dismissiveness or lack of regard!
Very good live for the strawberry cheese cake, black forest cake, chocolate mousse... Oh Ive had burgers here as well great medium burger with french fries and onion rings (which were a side order so I got a nice amount) they were crunchy fries not so bad mmm ok Ill be back for more cake soon lemon ok bye
THIS PLACE DISCRIMINATES AGAINST BLACK PEOPLE.Went to eat there I was asked for my vaccination card . Showed it to the waiter and 2 mins later 4 White guys come in sit at a booth near me and wasnt asked for theirs. When I approached the waiter about why he didnt ask none of the white gentleman he told me oh theyre regulars.THAT PEOPLE THERE ARE SO UNPROFESSIONAL AND DISGUSTING ITS SAD
My experience was not all that great waited almost an hr waiting for my order, mine you I was dining in. Costumers were being served before me after coming after me.So, I said okay , I went the next morning to order breakfast, this time to go. I get to my location and the food was not so great, I order corn beef hash with home fries and eggs and the corn be half was completely disgusting, I want be going back for awhile.
Great local diner. I can only review on delivery and honestly have no complaints. They actually read comments and try to fulfill all your requests as best as they can. Food is always on point. Plus I think ordering from them directly is better than from Grubhub or Uber eats since you dont have to pay the extra fees and you get a 5% discount everytime. Loyalty fans get a discount of 10 bucks every now and then. Thats a win win situation for me.
The staff is very professional, kind & patient. They have indoor & outdoor seating. They have restrooms inside. I was in a party of 4 and we all ate pretty well for under $70. The servings are huge, several of us had to ask for doggie bags lol and continue eating our meals at home. Its right on the corner of 164st Broadway manhattan. Take the A train or the 1 train to 168st. Enjoy!!
I usually come late night after work so I know its not busy but regardless this place has never disappointed. Quality food, good prices and the service is great. Ruby at the counter is super sweet and professional, Adrianna the host is always warm and welcoming, Armando the now day manager I miss and the rest of the staff who Im not familiar with their names since I moved away for a while are also on point and very helpful. Im a loyalist. If theyre consistently good, Im a customer for life. This diner is a gem in The Heights. Go Wahi!!
Prices are reasonable. However, the food is alright. I ordered a fettuccine Alfredo with chicken. And guess what. I got food poisoning. Not cool. The waitress that serve us (she’s new) was not very attentive. But she is very nice. The other waitress (The young Dominican lady) I’m not a fan of because she always has an attitude every time I come to the diner. Don’t know what’s up with her.
Its a diner where the food is solid, the prices are consistent with the area, the staff are wonderfully friendly and the place is clean. Ive come the last 2 times Ive been to the city and will continue to visit. If youre in Washington Heights, its well worth the visit.I would skip the chicken tenders, little overpriced for size and quality. But the breakfast is perfect.
Food is pretty good, you wont be disappointed with what you get here by far. Ive tried most of the dishes here from the Georges burger to the meatloaf sandwich and even the soups and milkshakes. Everything is top notch here. Definitely go for the avgolemono (lemon chicken) soup. It is a staple here and you sure cannot miss it. I am knocking off a star purely because the service can be better. It is hit or miss. Sometimes, when you order delivery, they take forever to get to you. Sometimes, when you are in the store the waiter doesnt circle around to see if everything is okay or if you need a refill on your beverage. One time, it took me almost 20 minutes after my meal to get the check. In sum, the food is delicious but service can be better.
It’s a neighborhood go to spot. I usually order or go here for breakfast. It’s your typical diner, greasy food, but I love their breakfast egg platters (mainly what I go for). Now, what I detest about this place are their employees. Wow they’re just bad. Rude hostesses, careless waiters and waitresses, inattentive staff. I’ve honestly stopped ordering from here and visiting as often because of this reason. There have been numerous complaints to management and I’m shocked when I still see the same staff there.Anyway, it’s a convenient place to grab a bite when you’re hungry, or when you want a quick bite or meal.
Excellent place to sit down comfortably with friends. The food when in comparison to its price is superb! It is made more affordable that some meals can easily fill 2 adults. It only loses stars because, depending on the waiter you get, you will be sitting a while waiting for the check or to even place an order. If youre in the neighborhood dont think twice, stop on in!
Came in last night for the first time. Everything couldnt have been better. Food was amazing, staff was wonderful. My server (I neglected to get his name) was very accommodating and courteous. Cant wait to come back. Be sure to try the cheesecake. By far the best Ive ever had.
This used to be a good place to have a nice breakfast or lunch for me. I usually go here with family and the service is usually very good.Today it was the complete opposite. They have a new waitress that sits 2 people at the big booths and leaves all the small tables empty. So when my family of 5 walked in we were told there was a wait.Imagine seeing half a diner open and being told there is a wait to be seated. It blew our minds. The waitress was also generally unpleasant.
Simply asked Armando what he recommends and for the life of him he couldn’t answer the question. He kept asking me what I wanted. I clearly didn’t know even though I can read a menu. I just wanted to know the server’s recommendation which is a common phenomenon. Am I wrong for him not being able to answer my question and hanging up on me ? I’ve been down the block since I was born, 28years ago. Do I deserve this type of service after all these Loyal years, shesh it just takes one phone call to be their worst enemy ?
Recently moved into the neighborhood and started ordering from here. Overall its standard diner food. Some things on the menu are very good while others are just okay. Ive tasted better fare at other diners but this one is okay. The big plus is that they deliver 24/7 and that is great. Last nite i ordered at 2 in the morning and got my food. Although i was overcharged on a chicken sandwich and egg platter, should of been 18 bucks but the guy on the phone said 25, didnt raise a stink about it. Doesnt happen often but it just depends whos on the phone i guess. Will continue to order only late nites for those cravings. Perhaps i will change my rating down the road as i taste more from their menu...
The service was slow. And the food was low quality. I ordered spaghetti and meatballs and they were low quality. The meatballs were probably frozen or from a can, because I couldnt taste the meat. It was just like a ball of mush. The sauce didnt taste like tomato sauce but some sort of sweet paste on it. Not good.
My favorite diner not only they open all the time but the food is so good specially their buttermilk pancakes😍 if you are looking for late spot or early morning spot to eat come to this diner you won’t regret it. The only thing didn’t like how they made my homemade fries other than that everything else was really good.
Nice diner. Have a little of everything that I have eaten there has been great quality, and very generous amounts. Prices are more than fair. Employees are very pleasant. Service is not slow even when it is packed. It being packed almost every day at lunch time tells me its too notch.
Being someone who likes homemade corned beef hash as well as the canned slop, I dont consider myself to have high expectations. But the stuff served here was disgusting. My wife said the food was great the first time she went but this time she also was not liking her food and all she ordered was eggs and sausage.
This is the closest diner to the NY Presybetarian hospital. My first time coming here was to grab my mother a soup while she was in the ER. The soup was super salty and their mash potatoes were equally as bad. The only thing she could have was their apple juice. I tried the soup and mash potatoes myself and I def couldnt finish any of it. I ordered myself some chicken tenders and they still tasted a bit frozen. My second visit was for breakfast with my boyfriend. I got a basic bacon, egg, and cheese on a roll from here and they managed to mess that up. The eggs and bacon were super dry so the sandwich was practically tasteless. This is def a place u go to at 2 am out of desperation and not because you love it here.
Food is decent. Service is Mediocre. Prices are moderate. This is a solid place to consistently get your fill when in necessity. I have never been disappointed but have never been blown away by this spot either. I appreciate that it is open 24 hours. You will walk away satisfied full and content but you will not be in a big hurry to come back. However You will find yourself thinking “hey I’ll grab a bite at WaHi while I’m up in this neighborhood”.
The guy on the phone was extremely rude, when got the food it was cold and they double charged my debit card. When I called to get this sorted out he was a pain and exclaimed, it was not possible. Yet there it was clear as day, had to get a bank statement to prove it. They still did not return my money, but gave me store credit. Please approach this restaurant with caution it seems they have very loose management and poor quality control.
This is my second time here. I had the lunch special, roasted chicken with broccoli and mashed potatoes. It was about a 35 minute wait for the dish. The potatoes were ok. The broccoli was supposedly steamed but was not fully cooked. The chicken was ok as well, nothing special. They somehow had pasta/spaghetti in the broccoli. I brought it to the owners attention. He was kind enough to give me a discount but I still left a bit disappointed. Dont think Ill be returning.
The food is very good and service, the only very bad issue is the night time supervisor! he talks to the staff as if they were slaves from midevil times. And HE should be removed , thats a bad experience when you eat there and watch that animal talk to other humans like that. the older man with the glasses.! Other wise the food is good.
Hands down this is the best diner I have ever eaten in. The environment is great, the food is delicious, and the staff is very friendly. If you are thinking of going to an IHOP please dont. support your local businesses and visit this place, my only recommendation is to have fresh squeezed juice.Deliciousness: 5/5Friendliness: 5/5Freshness in juice: 1/5Location: 5/5Pancakes: DaBombMy dish: lumberjack special
Convenience (open 24/7) is the only good thing here. However, I experience very bland, depressing food here the few times Ive sat in. Waiters were never very attentive so they would get the orders just a bit off. But the ladies took care of us were polite. I noted in my last attempt, my french toast was extra yolky yet had no actual flavor? Just burnt bread soaked in way too many egg yolk...and there was a potato stuck to it. We figured it was my friends potato which somehow got on to my plate...eh.If I ever do come here again, i must expect very low, low to the bottom of anything from this place at this point. My other friend seems to really dig this place, i believe she will insist in fact that we eat here. Dont understand how people can enjoy their food...I did like the previous food before the place was renovated. And am glad to see such a variety of locals and hospital employees sitting together. But i can tell the kitchen is way too strained to pull anything, even basic, together.Home potatoes are the only thing I have enjoyed here.BTW chicken was DRY in lemon chicken soup. wth??
Called on Friday evening for a delivery, the lady taking phone orders should really learn how to speak to customers. No hello , No thank you and a very cold attitude during all the call like i am bothering her and asking for a favor.I usually don’t waist time writting reviews but this is not the first Friday that I am calling for a delivery and get the same attitude!
The wait staff super nice chatted with waiter from Colmbia. The food is.....eh. This wonderdul lady paid for a dinner that a family was in trouble for as their credit card was messed up lesson check that all is well before. This is, well, the hood. But its safe, its cool and so are the people. 😀🌟💀💥🐶💃
Ordered tacos and specifically wrote not to put jalapeños also the order says it comes with chips. got the order and guess what... it had jalapeños and no chips.I called to explain the situation and all I got was nasty attitude by a person in the back ground and the girl was dismissive and did not care when I was trying to explain the situation. This is the second time ordering almost $40.00 dollars of food and getting the worst service ever. First time I ordered was the same way, tried it a second time to give them a second chance but apperantly they dont care. Will never buy from them again and will never recommend to anyone.
They got my order wrong call back made the guy who answered the phone made it a little difficult thank god the manager was there and was able to help me and then called back to update my address cause they got it wrong I was able to give him address but hung up before taking my apt number
Sorry, but food quality has declined. Food orders are incorrectly sent to the table. Prices HAS DOUBLED since the reopening and the quality doesnt support it. The wait staff is friendly, but doesnt pay attention that the food prepared is incorrect from the order and brings it to table anyway.
The service here is mediocre just like the food. The managers name is Nicholas and hes very rude. If your order is wrong or if you arent pleased with the service he is not going to accommodate you at all, he aggressively tried to argue with us. I would not waste my time or money in this establishment.
Worst customer service ever!I dont see how they could make money on delivery based on how they degrade there customers ever! the guy who takes the order is extremely tempremental like he hates his job yelled at me because I repeated my address he read it back to me wrong and my phone number wrong would you order from someone who sounds like they could spit in your food and hates there job?I ate there before I walked in the food was ok nothing special I like the fact its 24 hrs but customer service is overwhelmingly horrible the guy actually scared me he sound very off! i never had someone talk to me like that while I was giving information about what address to deliver at eventually someone will report them to the better business bureau if thats the way they conduct business.
WAHI dinner (formerly Georges coffee shop), just reopened after a MAJOR face lift. I had the patty melt, it absolutely rocked. For a little $ you get an amazing sandwich and mountain of string fries. This place has the makings of a classic New York diner that will serve a mean lunch, pancakes at 4 am after a crazy night, and the eggs that will cure the ensuing hangover.Pro Tip: Sneak away from Columbia medical for a cheap, quick lunch at a diner that feels like a diner should feel.
Came after midnight. Waiter with greasy hair and glasses was being a complete ass throughout our stay. Dude got annoyed when we asked for drinks, hello, we are paying for them, not like we drinking for free. He only takes order clockwise, if the person to his left wasnt ready, hed literally make everyone at the table wait.

2022-07-08This is the best place for breakfast. We had pancakes, omelette, homemade salad which was so good. Everything was fresh and delicious. We went there on busy hour so the store was busy and they took little longer to bring our food. But they keep checking if we need something. I saw lots of flies roaming around table which they should take care of . I would recommend everyone to visit this place.

2021-09-09Good food and service. The staff wore masks and there are partitions between each table. They also use disposable cups and utensils which might bother some, but it was perfectly fine for us.

2021-08-08Really surprised to find this diamond in the rough. Under a permanent structure of scaffolding, and certainly not what I would call an enticing decor, the food and service at this diner was especially good. I was looking for a good place to sit while waiting for someone at the dental surgery clinic next door. The table cubicles were strewn in a most un feng shui fashion, seats ripped and needing repair, I was desperate and sat. The waitress was pleasant and accommodating. I actually got skim milk for coffee, the toast was unbuttered, the eggs hot and runny and best of all the home fries were crispy and flavorful. I’ve been so used to horrible undercooked home fries I’d forgotten they weren’t supposed to be that way. When finished I confessed why I was lingering and she made me even more welcome with an invitation to sit as long as I would like. I sat and watched NY1 for a while until summoned next door. I will be back.

2021-12-04Great place with great service. True diner experience. Food was delicious and service was incredibly fast. I am here for just two weeks but had to come back again.

2021-08-12I wish they would go back to regular utensils, drinking glasses, and coffee cups. I find it so wasteful. The food is fine but try cutting bacon with a plastic fork. By the time I get it all cut the food has cooled.

2022-05-08This place may be open 24 hours for takeout or delivery, but not for what matters the most: Dining in, and the hours for dining in are not posted anywhere, not even on their website. You have to find out on your own in person, and if you get there a little late in the evening and wont settle for less than dining in, then you have to leave with an empty stomach to go somewhere else. Once I had to walk about a mile north to an IHOP just to eat in. As much as I otherwise like the place, I strongly do not recommend it as a late-night option if you dont want to eat at home.

2022-05-09Waited close to an hour for a table & then had to wait another 15-20 minutes to get some menus. Food for decent but not worth the price in my opinion. All & all Ive been to better places in the area.

2022-03-10My friend and I stopped in for a late lunch or early dinner. Customer service was great. The place is clean and they have paper menus so disposable. The food was amazing. I had the meatloaf. As good as my own. Real potatoes for the mashed potatoes. the vegetable soup was nice too.Try the chilli. Its worth it. It reheats really well too.

2018-12-30Service wasn’t bad. The staff could be a little friendlier, but I never felt unwelcome. Pictured is the He-Man Special. Everything was cooked to perfection and tasted delicious. I particularly liked the challah French toast. It never tasted dry.I’ve also ordered take-out from the Diner and the food was great then. This is a good stop for breakfast or if you’re in need of a place to eat near the New York Presbyterian Hospital.

2017-10-20This is a legit New York City diner experience. There aren’t that many of these left, and I’m so glad that WaHi Diner has survived because it’s SO GOOD.I had their lumberjack breakfast. Their service was fast and the place was nice. The food was delicious. It was a great choice for a nice classic breakfast. Definitely recommend it.
