Walker Hotel Greenwich Village in New York
Overall, the lobby is chic and classy. The restaurant, while I didnt eat there, looks nice. The rooms was much smaller than I expected for $400+ a night and the pillows, my god the pillows were absolutely terrible. They felt chunky and like, astonishingly uncomfortable for a fancy hotel. Man oh man. That was rough. Also the last day, I had a big night out and needed to sleep in. Called the lobby at 5am to make sure they knew I wanted to sleep in and not be disturbed. I hung the Do Not Disturb sign and... was woken up TWICE by housekeeping knocking telling me they wanted to clean my room. The literal thing I was trying to make sure would NOT happen. Oy. Also the AC in the room was not working, I had it on cold it was blowing hot. I mean, just not what Id expect for $400+ a night... which was a stretch for me.
The Walker Hotel Greenwich Village is a charming hotel in the heart of NYC. You can quickly get to the hotspots of New York both on foot and by Uber. Its not just the cozy atmosphere that catches your eye when you enter the hotel. Our room was also wonderfully designed and satisfying at the highest level. Our room was on the 11th floor and we didnt hear any of the city noises at night. Also a great attention was the delicious patisserie cakes as a greeting in the room. The staff looked after us attentively during our stay, gave great recommendations and tips and they were very lovely - thanks again for that. The restaurant is also a must-do. We had the delicious burgers with fries and the salad with burrata and beet - divine! If you are looking for a private and stylish atmosphere and want to stay centrally in one of the culturally busier corners of NYC, this is definitely the place to go.
The Walker Hotel, a lovely comfortable place in Greenwich Village, is in a terrific location! We enjoyed our 3-night stay. The room we shared in the 05 tier was very cozy but comfortable with terrific Art Deco furnishings-- next time we will request a larger room although all of the rooms are on the small side. The shower was excellent and the hotel provided clean towels whenever you requested them. The staff was friendly, kind and very accommodating. Although we did not eat in the cafe, we have dined there (previous hotel owner and chef) in the past and enjoyed the lovely dining room and service. This trip was a busy one-- next time we might spend some time enjoying a cocktail or meal at the hotel. If youre looking for a reasonable, clean comfortable place in NYC-- this is it.
We booked here for three nights for my wife’s birthday. We picked it because of the location and she wanted something with a view and a certain style. When we got there we were surprised by how pretty the lobby was and the decor. The staff was very kind to gift us a bottle of wine and some sweets for the room. Unfortunately we weren’t too happy with how small the room was. Luckily we did get a higher up room with a view of the block. When we first walked into the room it was 85 degrees so we went to turn on the AC. It ended up feeling warmer after an hour so we went to the front desk to ask what was going on. She said that they no longer had AC and only had heat and to just keep our windows open. We did that but the windows have a safety feature that doesn’t allow them to open up much. We also realized that the bed wasn’t a queen, even though we chose that when booking. But honestly a queen bed wouldn’t fit in that room anyways. There wasn’t a refrigerator or ice machine. I feel like simple improvements like that would make a big difference. Luckily we were in New York to enjoy the city and we weren’t too concerned with the room but if you’re looking for somewhere to relax I wouldn’t say it’s the best choice. Regardless the staff was very kind and when we asked for anything they were willing to help which we appreciated.
It’s a cute boutique hotel. Close to NYU, and village nightlife , all in walking distance. The rooms are cozy and comfortable though a bit small. The lobby is also tastefully designed. The staff is amazing. Very kind, polite and accommodating. The free water bottles are a welcome amenity considering all the walking in the city. Parking lot down the street. Though I found street parking on 11th (around 145w 11th) which was surprising and great. Did not try the restaurant so can’t comment on that. All in all a great place to stay and enjoy the city.
Great location, very clean room with surprisingly fun amenities. My room had a small veranda with outdoor table and chairs facing north. I had a very nice view of the Empire State building. This was my second stay and on my first stay - I basically had a walk out patio w/garden. Very unique place.
Our first time at The Walker Greenwich Village. The holiday decor was beautiful and the fireplace was so inviting. We had drinks by the fire one night and drinks and snacks at the bar the following night. Our rooms had plenty of space to move around, hide luggage and relax after a busy day of walking, shopping snd museums. The bathroom was adequate with lovely C O Bigelow toiletries and thick towels. Lots of bottled water free and available in the lobby as well as umbrellas to borrow for a rainy day. For our purposes the location was great. A short walk to the subway and plenty of restaurants and cafes close by. We will stay there again.
Such a great hotel! They have been super accommodating and understanding with everything. The bar is incredible and the bartender, Victor, is truly THE best- he is really the soul of the entire hotel and makes the best cocktails in town. 5 stars for this place! Atmosphere, service, food/drinks, rooms, I could go on.. all A+
We stayed one night and enjoyed our stay. The room was clean the bathroom was impeccable and the service was spot on. WE really only had one issue and that was with there recommended parking garage. The attendant, who was very condescending, there scratched our windshield trying to remove bird c**p. We also didnt receive the 10 percent discount from the hotel for parking there. This isnt Walkers fault by any means but id reconsider recommending that parking garage.
Really disappointed. Nothing like how it seems online. For starters, theres no soundproofing, so we literally heard every word being spoken in the rooms next to ours. We could hear everything they said, when they went to the bathroom, etc.The restaurant is closed indefinitely and theres no breakfast or room service. Theres not even a mini bar. No bellhop to help with bags. No services at all. Even maid service is only once every 3 days. Its dirty, shockingly poorly maintained, small and dingy. Definitely not 4 star. More like 2 star. Not worth half the price we paid.
Came to the bar with my sister for a nice cocktail after dinner. Mixologist Pablo was wonderful — kind, cheerful and made us delicious drinks based on our favorite cocktail recipes. It was such a nice experience that I’ve told just about everyone I’ve spoken to about it, and absolutely will return. Highly recommend for the drinks, atmosphere and service!
Positive: Aesthetically uts a masterpiece. Location us oerfect. Negative: AC doesnt work. Our tooms were 80 degrees. I heard others complain. The staff was nice but low level knowledge about restaurants. They were like low paid temps. As opposed to hiring knowledgeable high class experienced staff in hotel industry.
Please save yourself and DO NOT STAY HERE. The rooms are poor value, the team members behind the front desk prefer to continue their own conversations rather than respond to a guest, basic services like a restaurant (only available some days), room service and refreshments are not provided, and the heating and cooling in the room was faulty, too loud to sleep and not fixed during the stay. Stay anywhere else.
This hotel brings Old New York back to life in a setting that equally recalls the Algonquin Round Table and a boozy speakeasy with its underground lobby and unassuming street presence. The warm lobby features a grand fireplace, an upright piano, a browsing library, and many comfortable nooks from which to enjoy it all.The rooms are clean and bright, with thoughtful furnishings and are spacious enough. The hotel restaurant stands in its own right as worthy of a visit for its consistently excellent food, pleasant bar, and sky-lighted dining room.
Love this little gem! I’ve walked by and admired the exterior for so long so had my parents stay here. I upgraded them to a room with a balcony and it did not disappoint-spacious, huge bathroom and amazing views on the balcony w/a table to enjoy the space. Staff are incredibly friendly, I love the interiors and we took advantage of the happy hour. Plenty of places around the neighborhood and great location in general.
Great little hotel in Greenwich! Location was wonderful- cute street with a great Italian restaurant across from the hotel. Had a drink at the hotel bar and it was super cool Everyone at the hotel was helpful and kind. Room was bigger than anticipated for a NYC hotel room. Location was walkable to everywhere (we walked to Soho and back) and felt safe. Parking garage was a block away which was a bonus. We’ll definitely return!
This Hotel is Amazing.!! Its is Indeed a gem of a place; bar none the best hotel I have stayed in in the last 20 years. I was on Vacation with my family and stayed there; front desk personnel are exceptional. Rooms clean, and staff very courteous; however it was a gem of a worker named Angel who cant be more that 130 pounds who from the very first moments we arrived wnsire we were made to feel at home. Angel provided us with all sorts of assistance and when we left he carried our bags and did not wish to accept a tip!! I had to threaten to call his supervisor for him to accept the tip. This is almost unheard of and it makes me feel that much special to visit a place such as the Walker Hotel Village. I will be coming here from now on to stay when in New York.Last but not least, the atmosphere at this hotel makes everyone feel welcome and so relaxed. Cheers to the piano player and the staff at the Walker hotel!!
I was excited about this boutique hotel however it was a less than desirable experience. The air in the room was not actually corresponding to the thermostat. Luckily for me it was stuck to freezing in the summer. I was cool but I had to go buy sweatpants to wear in the room. I also couldn’t get decent water pressure despite asking the hotel to fix it. Room was small to the point I couldn’t work at the desk because it was so close to the bed.
Great staff. Stayed with my friend and even though its covid19 precautions, everyone is great at attending you. Angel the houseman I think is literally an Angel. Very helpful and considerate. He would not even accept a tip!! Unheard of!! The housekeeping guy i think his name is Randy also very considerate. He ensured my room was top notch and provided great assistance. Reccomend this hotel to all my friends
Great Boutique Hotel. Loved the lobby, great place to sit and read, eat or hang out with friends. Greenwich Village location was perfect. I cant say enough about the staff, they were friendly, helpful and had great recommendations. Only slight negative was that I missed having a fridge in the room especially with all great food/leftovers that had to go to waste. Will definitely stay again!
The Walker Hotel is a lovely little hotel on a quiet street perfectly located to access the action in that neighborhood. The vibe is cool and the staff was congenial, much more so than you’ll find in other hotels. Our room was spotless and when housekeeping serviced it the room was cleaned to move-in standards. I would give The Walker a solid 10 except that the rooms are small, small enough that you must consider it. Otherwise, you can’t go wrong staying here.
We selected to stop here since we knew it was one of the nicest hotels in town. They provide a fantastic breakfast buffet (with bacon and eggs!), a rooftop pool, sauna, and gym. The location is PERFECT. Your stay here will not be an issue because they offer comprehensive amenities as well as courteous staff members. Highly recommended!
Oh Goodness, where do I start....First of all it felt like a spooky house because the hallways could not be any darker and the rooms were SO DARK. My daughter wasnt 100% comfy. She was a little frightened by the decor and energy. The thermostat could not be adjusted. I tried adjusting it, but it didnt change the temperature. We will certainly not be staying here EVER again. Great location but......scary, creepy, and dated.
We stayed in a Queen room on the 15th floor for eleven nights.Pros:-Beautifully furnished-Good location-Quiet-Fast and unlimited Wi-Fi-Good desk in the room if you need to work (which I did)-Decent gym with two treadmills, an elliptical, and some weights-Staff was very nice, though check-in was a bit of a mixed bag--we were supposed to have been given a sheet with a QR code to be able to order from the restaurant, info on room and services etc. We werent given this information until day 9/11 of our stayCons:-Air conditioner that blasts cold air directly onto the bed as you sleep, no way to regulate the strength of the fan. We had to block one of the vents up with pillows and suitcases in order to be comfortable.-No mattress protector on the bed when we got here, which was weird and unhygienic. They did eventually put one on.-No breakfast available, not even to buy-No fridge in the room, though they did bring us one when we asked (and then tried to take it away from us two days before we checked out, for some reason)-Due to COVID, housekeeping only every three days-No staff offered to help me up to the room, even though I was carrying five bags (my husband was out and I was checking into the room for both of us)-No laundry service-Extractor fan in the bathroom is barely functional. In fact, we thought it was broken but the engineer informed us that it was just very low and there was nothing they could do about it.Final verdict: A good place to stay if youre going to NY for a weekend, as its very beautifully furnished and in a great location. However, for more than $300 per night, I expected just a little bit more.
This place was a hidden gem for us! We wanted to get out for a long weekend after being cooped up for 6 months due to covid. While most hotels were either closed or wayyy too pricey for what was being offered, this place seemed like a steal. Greenwich Village, 4 days 3 nights, 4 star for $650 total? Turns out it was well worth it!The rooms are a tad small (even for nyc), but they happily gave us a better room view as we requested. Great view of the ESB and the Metlife building. The bed was great, and a perfect height from the mounted 50 inch TV, tucked behind a cute sliding frame. The room (and whole hotel) has an old-timey, dapper look and feel to it. Think 20s-40s (cute rotary phone bedside!). Bathroom was sneakily spacious, and the walk-in shower was nice and strong. Anything you may need wad available for pickup downstairs (even had a complimentary umbrella if you needed it). All of the Covid precautions were clearly laid out ona handy sheet they gave us upon check in.For the rest of the hotel, the lobby is gorgeous, tucked just under street level, it exudes that art-deco feel from a bygone era. Nice leather seats surrounding a working fireplace, a piano tucked on the side. Down a thin walkway (think a London tunnel/alley) was the elevators and a large restaurant area (this was NOT open at the time due to Covid-19, seating and dining took place outside the entrance). We did eat at Society cafe for Brunch, and they reserved a nice little table for us for when we were ready to come down. I ordered the brisket burger which was good, though VERY messy (I popped the yolk while pressing the bun down...whoops). Came with fries which were delish. My wife had an omelet with breakfast potatoes. The latter was nice and creamy, though she did report the omelet itself was a little too salty for her liking. The margaritas we had were ok, lacking a bit of fruity flavor we were looking for. So maybe a 3.5 out of 5 for all that.Overall though, this was nice! A really nice area where, even during Covid, there is plenty to see and do. If they keep the prices low (rooms were as low as $161 per), we may come back for a winter weekend!
From the moment we walked in for our Valentines Day getaway, we were treated with such care, kindness, and service. At times, I was like am I asking too much? and even then, the staff and management at the Walker Hotel went above and beyond to ensure my stay was effortless. Though I did find the stay a bit expensive for my liking (but I know hotels need to secure the funds to stay afloat after such a hard year), I still felt the need to tip so many of the workers because of their positivity and amazing customer service. Megan, Dave, and Natalia at the front desk were so helpful from booking to checking out. Marie, Marié, & Andreas in the restaurant. Tony in the lobby & doing all the Lords work. Thank you for a wonderful stay. The massive soaking tub in the Walker Terrace was the main reason we booked this hotel, and I dont regret any of it! Cant wait to stay here again next time theres something to celebrate :D
Pretty disappointing overall. Absolutely no option for room service or even a glass of wine on Sunday or Monday. Unacceptable and very unaccommodating. If you have guests, you should have one person on staff able to make a drink or bring a bottle of wine to the room. If you stay here on a Sunday or Monday you are essentially at an overpriced hostel. The carpeting on our floor was beyond dirty, scraps of plastic and garbage throughout the hallway. There was a brown sticky substance on our bathroom walls and the water glasses were filthy.
Ok so I booked this place for a bachelorette party and OH MY GOD I’ve never been happier with a hotel - they were so nice and accommodating, the rooms were GORGEOUS, and brunch the next morning was insanely delicious. Literally we could not stop talking about how perfect this place was afterwards. I will 100% be recommending this hotel to everyone I know. Also, go to Zazzy’s pizza when you’re in this area- I’m still dreaming about the slice I had!
We stayed here for our special night with my partner! It was a wonderful stay with an awesome room. We had the jacuzzi suite, it was very spacious and in a good location. The staff was also very friendly and welcoming and seemed to genuinely care. The overall experience was very remarkable! Very extremely recommended!
We booked through Linda and had the best experience! She is made us feel like we were speaking with an old friend. Thank you for taking such wonderful care of our family with our stay at walker! Without a doubt our new favorite hotel in New York! Upon arrival we were warmly greeted by the staff. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful accommodating our travel with a baby. The dining experience was wonderful! From preparation to presentation. Our rooms were always clean and the turn down service was above and beyond. We can’t wait to visit again!!
This hotel has a noticeable classy interior design and is located within walking distance of all the great spots in Manhattan. The room has a nice atmosphere, comfortable bed, strong shower. Incredible view from the top floor (18th), especially at night. I asked to check out an hour later and that was no problem. Friendly staff.Only thing that I found uncomfortable is the ventilation in the gym (can smell the fireplace/kitchen).
My husband and I used the walker as our hotel for our wedding. It was absolutely stunning. I couldnt have asked for a more perfect place. Everyone went above and beyond for us, the photos from the wedding prep are amazing. The bathroom in our room was beyond amazing and the view from the balcony was sensational. I hope we spend our anniversary there every year!
The hotel lobby had an impressive old world charm which was complimented by board games and free water. Upon entering the room I quickly noticed it was 82 F and stuffy. David from the front desk was prompt and helpful and provided a fan. However the room remained at 82 F and was not tolerable. Unfortunately the only alternative available was the same room at the same 82 F which the hotel informed me had no control over. I tried doing some work from the desk but the room lighting was too poor to get anything done. We ended up checking out one day early and were promised a partial refund in addition to the one night we did not stay from the manager, who was professional and offered to follow up on the refund. She however neglected to follow up and I had to contact Orbitz myself. I called her a few days later and again she was very courteous and promised the refund she had stated previously and I am still waiting on that refund. That level of customer service is disappointing from a four star hotel.
Nice little boutique hotel in the Village. Clean room, quiet, pleasant staff, onsite limited restaurant and bar. Housekeeping service was on hold due to Covid (not sure of the reasoning behind that decision), but the hotel did provide clean towels and trash pick up on request. We’ll book a room there again.
The staff were exceptional. The service in this hotel is one of the best we have experienced and it feels like whoever works here is vested in the hotels success. The location is perfect for the areas we like to explore in the city. Loved the decor of the hotel and bathrooms had a real NY art deco vibe. Amazing water pressure in the shower. The beds were so comfortable!! Again some of the most comfortable we have come across. After a hard days walking the city this was just bliss! Simply can not fault this place! We upgraded to the queen Waverley so cant comment on the other rooms. Ours was perfect for the trip and our next visit to NYC will be here.
Amazing old-New York atmosphere. Great bar and food! The rooms are small, but it is New York. They are comfortable and clean. My only critique is that our room did not have a floor lamp or ceiling lights so the room was very dark. Employees are kind, polite, and helpful. 💯 would stay again!
This was such a comfortable hotel! I really liked the detailing of the interior design- the wallpaper with its intricate patterns, the mirror cabinets, and old fashioned telephone next to the bed!And the restaurant is also simply amazing. They make fresh juices and I really enjoyed the olive oil pancakes I ate.Not much noise outside despite being in the city. Staff was very polite.
Tiny beds, thin blankets. Service generally OK, although the lady at the front desk tried to push the hotels black car service on me over and over. The place was clean, but the staff didnt replace towels they took away, so I didnt have any face cloths on my third day. Hotel bar was cozy and the drinks were good.Edit: Bump to 4 stars based on friendly response from the owner. Thanks for being responsive!
There are a lot of nice hotels in NYC...this is not one of them! Reserved and paid for premium room on upper level floor. Upon check in was told they had an “upgrade” for me. It was a dark, dungeon like, small room on the second floor directly in front of elevator with a “balcony” surrounded by wood-no view (probably surrounded by dumpsters) and dark-and it was 30 degrees outside! I said no thanks and moved to the 11th floor. Room was larger, had light. Nice room with very noisy heat/fan. No heat in dining room where we ate upon checking in and waiting for our room (It was fixed during our stay) Spoke with another guest who had no heat (51 in their room night before) had to send maintenance to replace the blower. Their tub would not drain (another maintenance call) and their toilet broke. Did I mention my daughter and I were stuck in the hotels broken elevator for over 15 minutes with this poor elderly man and his wife? I chose this Hotel for its proximity to NYU. Its an older, charming hotel that could be good with better staff and maintenance. I cannot recommend this hotel.
Good - The food at the cafe is really good. Really good. Staff is very helpful. The room was very clean and the sheets smelled nice. The wallet didnt even wait for the tip, which was pleasantly surprising (given what you are already paying). Bad - There was no mini fridge. There was a bit of loud noise when your neighbor opened their door (there was no other noise). The room might be a bit smaller for two people. For me it was comfortable.
We absolutely loved this hotel. Its beautifully decorated with an art deco style. The lobby is stunning. Our room was a decent size for new york too with a pretty big shower. The space was used really efficiently so it was very comfortable. The bed was really soft and I was comfortable. Thre service was excellent too. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. The location was also great. Just a few blocks to Washington square park. Were would stay here again in a heartbeat.
Room was extremely small, pillows had stains on them and the shower head was way too strong. It was like your trying to have a fight with water.. Didnt have food on the property..was surprised they didnt even have a small fridge in the room. My husband and i had to buy drinks but couldnt keep them cold. And the fact that we didnt get room service evey time we left the room was upsetting. I honestly wouldnt come back. Was definitely missing the WOW factor.
This was a really nice hotel in a good location. The staff was very friendly. The room we stayed in was painfully small though. The wallpaper was peeling and it was so hot all night but we didn’t want to open the window because of the noise. For the price you pay and based on the pictures, we thought the room would be bigger. Overall I would stay here again but would want to upgrade to a larger room since it was so small.
Very nice hotel. The size of the room was shocking compared to other rooms a stay in down south but still nice. Hallways extremely narrow. I just felt closed in while in the common area bc so extremely narrow. I know this is what should be expected in NY, so that is why they still have 5 stars! Hotel staff very friendly and professional.
I booked the Greenwich Queen which is in the 18th floor. I paid north of 330$ for one night. The room is amazing, the balcony(shared) was great, the staff was really friendly. However, the issue I had which made my entire stay becoming annoying and unpleasant and not making me want to stay here ever again was the following: I was not informed that the rooms in the 18th floor have super thin walls. I was not making much of noise and i hear some one knocking in the wall. This is a 4-star hotel, i felt I was in a 1-star hotel. I ignored it and my neighbor has the audacity to complain and i got a call from the front desk. If I was informed that the 18th floor has super super superrr thin walls, I would have booked a different room and pay 150+ less.
One of the worse hotels I have ever stayed at. Barely any space to even move in the hotel.. nyc hotels are quiet small but definitely not as small as the ones here. The bathroom door handle and the towel holder just fell by touching it.. when I called the front desk the front desk person on the phone laughed about it and said someone will come take care of it in the morning. No one came to take care of it until I complained again in the afternoon .. I am usually give great reviews to places I like but unfortunately I did not have a pleasant stay here.
Great hotel. 2nd time staying here in NYC because it is such a great located venue and amazing design / hospitality. Would 100% recommend.I have read other reviews saying small rooms, but remember this is a historic hotel with boutique rooms & lots of character. Beds are super comfy and the hotel has some of the best food I NYC.
The location was central to the conference I was attending. It made travel easy, as i was able to walk everywhere. There were lots of restaurants to choose from around the area, all within walking distance. The hotel itself was quite beautiful. The entry had a gothic looking exterior while the lobby was more modern. The room we stayed in was quite beautiful and had an excellent view. The only thing is the bathroom could have updated. Would recommend to others.
Nice boutique hotel off of 6th ave in the Village. Rooms are small, as are all in NYC, and service was average. I will say that the bathrooms and bedrooms could be updated. Lighting in the rooms is extremely poor. Shower was less than luxurious with some drainage issues which isn’t really what you look for at $400/night but overall you’re paying for the super convenient location and it’s definitely comfortable!
My husband and I stayed here for our anniversary and we were very disappointed. The room we got was much smaller than what we saw in the picture. There were no drawers and my carry on suitcase couldnt even be fully opened unless it was on the bed because the space was so small. Ive stayed in very small hotel rooms internationally where they always made great use of the space and unfortunately these rooms did not. I was also disappointed to see that the shower didnt drain. When I was applying shampoo I had to turn the shower off so that the water wouldnt overflow. The room was also missing some basic features like a coffee machine and standard blow dryer. The hotel lobby and restaurant were nice but overall I would not recommend this hotel to anyone as I felt very misled by the website.
The room was very, very small. But if you can get past that, the Walker Hotel is fantastic. Lovely decor, a good restaurant, and water pressure that will try to blast the skin off your back when showering. They also feature staff that are super friendly, and a number of complimentary freebies. Unless you value space, I couldnt recommend this enough.
Really nice hotel, reminds me a bit of the Ace. I stayed there for nearly two weeks while in New York for work. I received an email from the concierge within about 15 min of checking in, which was a nice touch. The bed was really soft/comfortable, but I can imagine it might be too soft for some. I couldnt quite sort out the AC unit so the room was always a bit too warm, but opening the window seemed to help. No coffee maker in the room in case thats a deal breaker for you. Otherwise lovely hotel with great service!
Had very high expectations for this hotel. The building itself was gorgeous, room was very clean, located in a nice/quiet neighborhood in NYC. They got our room ready for us when we came back for the night and even left us cookies! That being said, the bellman held our luggage when we checked in since our room wasnt ready and then couldnt find our bags when we came back. They did eventually find them and bring them up to the room. I also had a charge on my bill from the restaurant even though we never dined there. The valet parking was expensive and took about 40 mins to get our car out.
Just returned from a trip to NYC and spent the first night of our honeymoon at the Jade. Ari and the staff are attentive, genuine and on top of everything. The room was gorgeous, clean and quiet. The bed was comfortable and the location cannot be beat. Im not sure what the previous guests experienced but our wifi and shower was awesome! The elevator is a bit slow but is that really a negative?I dont know… I loved the place. The bar was great and its walls are adorned with amazing photos that I could look at all night. Ian (I think his name was Ian) was a great bartender who was willing to chat if you felt like chatting or leaving you alone if thats what you wanted. We switched hotels as we wanted to move around the city and over to Brooklyn. The other hotels paled in comparison and we wished we spent the entire week at the Jade. Personally, I cant wait to return.
This was a quaint Hotel just north of Greenwich Village. It is about a 25 minute walk to Midtown, 20 minutes to Soho. Right near all the main subway stops on 14th. The rooms were well-decorated but extremely small, even by New York standards. The bed was very very comfortable. Sheets super soft. I was here for several days, and it didnt have some of the amenities I would have liked. No refrigerator, no ice machine. So you basically even have to eat breakfast out. Their restaurant was yummy, but pricey. I really wanted something quiet and centrally located between Midtown, downtown, and Chelsea, because I had meetings in all three areas. So this was perfect for me. I chose this place because of the location and because there was a desk in the room. I was surprised how many hotels in New York did not have desks in the pictures.
Love the boutique feel and vintage art deco aesthetic. Rotary phones accompany blue tooth stereos. The rooms are quiet and clean and higher floors have amazing views. An onsite restaurant and posh gym complement the standard hotel amenities. The service is what keeps you coming back though. Anyone complaining about room size hasnt stayed in many hotels in New York as these are downright elegant compared to many offerings. Some rooms have private terraces and balconies.
Never again.........Owner contacted me. as a result of my comments which were not a result of the unfortunate flooding episode which happened while I was there. Could happen to any business.......My comments were regarding my room. Too small, stupid big heavy furniture. Dark (not enough lights and those there using economy style bulbs). Not enough storage room. Location of this place is 5 star if you have to stay in the Village but the hotel doesnt have enough amenity in my opinion to justify 5 stars. Noisy lounges, impossible to get a drink as place overrun with noisy young people. I know this is New York style, but adults have to be catered to if you want a high star rating.
Spent New Years at this lovely boutique hotel. Enjoyed a Moscow Mule made with Titos vodka and some delicious pints of Five Boroughs beer. In terms of food, we had the rice cubes and chickpea fries as starters followed by Atlantic Scallops as the main. The hotel had a lovely band playing for the evening, which really complemented the look and food menu. Would recommend, will return.
I had a lovely weeklong stay at this hotel. It is beautifully furnished and has a lovely lobby area and restaurant. The room, whilst small, was quiet, dark (at night!) and perfect for getting a good nights sleep. The nightly turndown service was a lovely touch.Management were quick to respond when there were issues, which was appreciated.Would happily return.
I came here for the bar. It looks gorgeous, but I had to keep ordering and picking my drinks at the bar on my own for us! Even the water... I was my own wait staff. The wait staff completely ignored us, because we were in the booth near the bar!My French 75 was watered down soda water! My friend had the distant dream which was a decent cocktail! I expected more from them and am genuinely disappointed! The three stars are only for the beautiful venue!
I found this hotel to be beyond awful.1. Room 507 which I am in has mold in it! (Picture included after they have cleaned it!) Apparently because of a leak in the shower.2.it has no air conditioning but air cooling.3.you cannot change the fan speed. So it is always on hi.4.air constantly hitting the bed so when you are asleep you have blowing in your face.5.room 402 which I moved from you cannot even change the thermostat so you are stuck with the temperature the hotel decides on.6.you can finish a book by the time an elevator arrives.7.i had to run after the cleaning staff to replenish my shampoo.8.towels are removed even though they are not thrown on the floor and not replaced.9.my tooth brush was thrown away for some odd reason10 I was shown yet another room to change to for the 3rd time.11.the mattresses are so old you sink in the bed.12.the duvets are clumpy so basically the bottom have of the duvet is as this in as paper. They have changed the duvet!13.the pillows are so old and hard. I heard a few people at reception asking for new pillows.14.worlds smallest closet15. the cleaning people are all over the floors chatting.16. the floors are just filthy17. I was bitten all over and the staff said there were mosquitoes yet there were noneNever again. The place is very very unhappy.
The Walker Hotel is pleasant and charming. A classic boutique hotel, I really appreciate the non-assuming nature. I always feel welcome... like staying with a relative. This passed trip I ordered room service. It was absolutely delightful. The portion was relatively small (Im from the midwest where portions are probably too big!) but the presentation and taste were not.The kitchen was really good about my gluten free preference and double checked before confirming my order (Im not intolerant or allergic, but due to my families allergies dont often eat gluten.)One neat touch: each night upon return from work a nice little dessert greeted me. Yum!One thing I would change: the rooms arent really designed for using a laptop at the desk. Ive had the queen bed and 2 double bed configurations. Neither afforded room for me to (comfortably) sit at the desk. Maybe that was a blessing in disguise (why was I working after work anyway?!)
A cool hotel which is almost perfect! We stayed here for over two weeks, and all it all we were very happy here. I saw a lot of people complaining about the size of the rooms, but our room (the cheapest kind) was more than big enough for the two of us for this extended stay. The location is great and the staff was excellent. There are really just a few reasons why Im not giving this place five stars: The shower must have been designed by someone without real life understanding - it was impossible to shower without soaking the entire room - and beyond. Also, the A/C in the room was very loud, but we got used to it. Finally, the restaurant had a very limited menu - we had a hard time finding something we wanted for dinner, and only one thing looked good for breakfast. All in all I would gladly come back here!
Walker Hotel is a gorgeous modern hotel with lots of heart and smarts. The attached restaurant (Social Cafe) serves delicious meals throughout the day and is staffed with talented and attentive employees. Every Walker employee was ready to help and ensure we had an enjoyable stay during the weekend. While the room was smaller than expected, it had an amazing view of the city and a fantastic bathroom. Wed definitely stay here again in the future!
I had a fabulous time The Walker Hotel, primarily because of how excellent the staff is. Everyone is incredibly friendly and welcoming, and I have to give special commendation to Irvin, Keith and Danny, who went above and beyond. Our rooms weren’t ready on time due to unforeseen circumstances, and the staff bent over backwards to make it up to us. And this is high praise is not limited to strictly hotel staff. The kitchen and wait staff were also amazing, from late night requests to all around excellent service. I can’t give them enough credit for making my stay as enjoyable as possible. Regarding the hotel itself, the rooms are smaller than they look in the photos, but from what I hear they are par for the course for NYC, but if you’re into cozy this is the spot for you. Other than that, the water pressure was AH-MAZING, and the beds while small (I was sharing, and it was a full size, where I’m used to a king) they were very comfortable. I was in town for a bachelorette weekend, otherwise I would normally stay with Friends. But if I find myself in need for a hotel in NYC in the future, I’ll definitely be checking the availability at The Walker.
Gorgeous building and interior but insanely loud with the vaulted greenhouse style roof and brick walls. Menu was interesting and servers were friendly but terrible. It took 10 min to be asked for a drink order and another 10 to arrive, one of two being incorrect-because the waiter couldnt hear us. Food came quickly even if the waitress didnt take our order in a reasonable time. Then the server brought out food to the wrong table. And we finally had to wave down the waitress for the check. They werent crowded and seemed well staffed but in all our one course lunch took 2 hrs. The food was good-we especially liked the vinigarette on the salad that came with the quiche, and apple cider thin pancakes, but our other dishes were unbalanced in flavor. Would not return as there are so many other restaurants in the neighborhood and city.
Always a great place to stay when Im in NYC. Comfortable and clean rooms... Great restaurant and bar. On top of all of that they also give you desserts every night in your room (a great final touch). There hotel is located in Greenwich Village which is a great part of the city for getting around with a great assortment of restaurant options. I will definitely stay again.
Walker is a great hotel! Rooms are very nicely designed, you get a nice treat of great cookies every day. The stuff is very friendly and helpful, especially Bates that really helped went out of his way to help us. We really enjoyed and will definitely prefer to stay here when we are back in NYC.Another note is that there is a great bar with great atmosphere at the lobby called Society Cafe which is great for breakfast as well.
Staff got several things wrong with our booking, so we had to move rooms halfway through. Things were wrong with both rooms that had to be sorted. Rooms are okay size for NYC but theres no room for your luggage or closet space to put things away. Im not sure why most of the rooms are 2 small double beds (Im not even tall) instead of a queen given the limited space. Rooms are otherwise clean and we enjoyed the nightly turndown treats.
Curiously stumbled into the restaurant/bar of The Jade Hotel while looking for a nice atmosphere for a glass of wine and dessert and was not disappointed! We went on a weekday evening, the place was fairly empty but I think it had just opened so not many people knew about it. The decor is romantic - dimly lit, velvets, small tables and booths - and the live jazz was just lovely. Perfect for a date or a relaxing evening with a friend.
Rooms are ok but super quaint (with rotary phone and everything!). I got a double room and both beds sunk in and were very low. This combined with the normally smaller size rooms in Manhattan made for an especially claustrophobic feeling at least for me. Staff are nice and location is good.
Had a truly amazing stay at the Walker Hotel Greenwich for a variety of reasons~First of all a huge thank you to everyone who was at the front desk and put up with me. I was stunned by how friendly and willing to help everyone was because I definitely had a billion random questions and demands.Secondly, the art-deco and Gatsby- esque vibes made the entire property entirely unique. The rooms are peppered with vintage telephones and radios, and it is truly an experience youre unlikely to find anywhere else. In addition, I was pleasantly surprised with cookies and a name-card at in my room; its evident that the hotel cares about its guests! Also be sure to try Society Cafe! The chef is amazing and the menu has everything from comfort foods reimagined to unique twists on flavors from around the world~Thumbs up to everyone at the hotel, especially the front office staff and the MarcAnthony, for making our short stay so memorable!
I was there meeting up with my sisters client who invited us for drinks and quick bites from their restaurant which were really good. I had never heard of veggie chiccarones and they were surprisingly very good. The margherita pizza and lobster tots were good as well. The atmosphere was relaxing and I enjoyed the music playing as well. Very nice place!
Computers are down, finally have a room after 1.5 house of waiting. Staff are clearly frazzled, unable to accurately fill reservations. One member of my party was given a key to a room that, upon entry, was occupied. Finally in room, bed made incorrectly with mattress showing. Unfitted sheets. The bathroom doors are practically see-through.
I had high hopes but sadly it was just ok . There are no tubs in the double bed rooms. Luggage rack /Coffee machine had to be requested and it took three trips before the guy brought everything we needed for a basic cup of coffee . Extremely tight quarters and sadly no reason to stay again .
Horrible experience. Booked with them and wanted to pay in advance bc it was for my partner and his boss while they were working Fashion Week. They sent me a credit card authorization form which I filled out and sent to them. The whole point of doing this was for a smooth check in, in fact it took 6 emails back and forth bc it was a PDF and they claimed it wasnt filled out correctly. After confirming it was set assumed things would be smooth boy was I wrong. The front desk agent Johnny humiliated Elijah when he arrived. Kept telling him the card hadnt been charged and he didnt have the card on file when I had proof it was charged, I called Johnny and sent him a screen shot. He didnt offer elijah a water or coke he took an hour and a half to find it. Then with no apology finally said he could check him in. It was so horrible Elijah left and got another hotel nearby. I disputed the charges and 6 weeks later without my authorization they pull out another 600 dollars. When I called to speak with a manager I was told by Irvin he was the manager and he was rude and unhelpful, I asked to Speak to someone else and he refused. I emailed and didnt hear back. We ended up paying much more last minute at Incentra Village House which is much much nicer with real working fireplace. Working with fraud department to dispute the charges which is a 15 day process. This paragraph is added a year later. After my bank was able to prove they doctored the charges after an argument and they had no proof of the stay bc Elijah left they had to put the money back in my account but I am not kidding a year and half later 1500 dollars came out of my account from this hotel. So I am disputing again with my bank. Basically Elijah stayed there a day or two out of a week reservation bc of how rude they were and they charged for the whole original booking. They ended up reversing my banks decision a year and a few months later. They provided proof of a stay. I am not sure what proof there was. So we ended up paying 2100 total dollars for a two day stay where Elijah was made to feel extremely uncomfortable. Elijah made a huge break for working at fashion week but he is very young and not from NYC tnis was the point of me filling out all their forms and giving the cards over fax so his stay would be comfortable. It was not only bad service they way they did the bill and deducting thousands a year later was criminal. But suing in NYC would be too costly: maybe if I get back there soon I will file a small claims against them. I have proof they were paid 600 dollars for his two days plus some other charge then somehow they were able to get another 1500.
All the experience and the good memories had disappeared in the sound of the elevatorThe excellent service, the excellent food, and the excellent room were not worth it if I had to sleep with ear plugs,The noise from the elevator is unreasonable and not in a hotel of this kind. Its a shame that this is how the problem is treated, and especially that the staff knows this.I hope you will find a solutio
Stayed for 6 nights for work and didnt have a good experience. Would not stay here again. Hotel is very noisy at night and I was woken up many times for a variety of reasons, doors slamming, hearing people snoring, etc. Sent my laundry out for same day service and they didnt get it back until the following day (cost was over $70). Inhospitable staff.
We stayed here over Christmas and were very well looked after ..Really warm friendly welcome from all at Reception..All the staff here were very friendly and helpful. Dinner on Christmas Day was really wonderful..Selection,Presentation ,Taste Service all wonderful. One of the most memorable Hotel stays weve had during our year of Traveling..Satisfaction guaranteed here..We will most definitely be back..
Would NOT recommend this hotel for the following reasons:- broken thermostats in rooms, therefore no heat- found poop streaks in my toilet bowl upon arrival- front desk staff less than willing to help or rectify the situation- doesn’t enforce mask wearing in indoor public spaces
Went to the Walker and had the coldest night. The heat never came on. After I called three times and told them we need to leave they sent the bellman to reset the thermostat. It was so cold we had to leave. We could not wait to be outside where it was warmer than the room. Dont stay here in the winter or spring or fall and probably the summer unless you have the thermostat checked when you come in. I guess thats typical for guests to ask for when they check in.
Love staying at The Walker hotel! ❤️️ Adrianne and Josh always give a friendly welcome as soon as you walk in the door. The whole staff goes out of their way to make sure you are comfortable. My first stay at the Walker hotel was on August 26, 2016, bc my daughter is attending NYU. I have been here several times in the last few months and loved it more and more each time I visit. NYUs parents weekend is this Saturday and Sunday; I will be looking forward to the outstanding hospitality at this fantastic hotel. 😊👍Kathleen Carney
After the craziness of our wedding, my wife and I needed to get away from our Brooklyn apartment for a few days. We stayed at the Walker Hotel over Memorial Day weekend. From our room on the 18th floor, we could look out over the city and feel connected to everything. The Empire State Building was framed perfectly from our room, just past the rooftops and water towers of midtown Manhattan. We had a quiet balcony, a giant bathroom and a comfortable bed. We loved breakfast at Society Cafe inside the hotel, not to mention Murrays Bagels just around the corner. The central location of the hotel is hard to beat, with restaurants, attractions, and lovely, quiet Greenwich Village streets everywhere you turn. Walk south and youre at Washington Square Park and all the cool spots around historic MacDougal Street. Walk west and youre at the High Line, Whitney Museum and Hudson River Greenway. Union Square Park is just East of the hotel. We stayed the whole weekend and didnt even set foot on the subway. It was exactly the escape we needed.
We had a family destination stay the beginning of May,I had forgotten about a cigar box full of cigars in the closet. I called the hotel a few hours later, no one saw anything. They told me end of story. There is at lest one thief on the hotel. Don’t leave anything behind.
A place to sleep. Was charged 4 days after check out for an additional valet parking $75 and it took them nearly one week to fix the mistake.Things happen, but how you deal with them are what leave lasting impressions.Considering our first visit to NYC, it will be quite some time before we make another visit to the city.
I had a very unsatisfactory experience with Michael, the hotel director. The gym only had one functioning treadmill (out of two) and a woman was on it for over 30 minutes and informed me she would be watching a show on her iPad for another hour before I could use it. As my time in NY was short and my availability for a workout was rife, I asked the management to deal with the other guest and work something out reasonably workable for both of us. After seeing the woman on the treadmill, Michael decided to refuse to do anything...Most hotels (with multiple pieces of equipment) impose 30 minute limits. This place refused to make any accommodations. NEVER AGAIN!!! The staff needs major work.
Just because youve attempted to adhere to the façade of a 1920s décor-inspired establishment, doesnt mean you have to reduce all your technology down to such a period (WiFi, television, mannerisms, etc). For the expense of a suite on the top floor, the resources are pitiful and third-world, at best...

2022-01-04My husband and I had a wonderful NYE here. Beautiful interior design, comfortable beds, great food at dinner (I had Atlantic salmon which was substantial and delicious) and my husband had the burger. I loved how crispy his fries were. The waiter also served delicious, complimentary bread baked fresh out of the oven with herb butter. The cocktails were superb! The jazz band during drinks and dinner were incredibly talented. Lovely toiletries in the bathroom (although to be more environment-friendly really should do away with small sizes). Still, there is a recycling bucket in the room which I appreciate. The hotel’s location is on a quieter street and our room was also very quiet (1602). There is a tiny fitness facility in the basement (for which you must show your vaccination status to the front desk) which is poorly lit but has enough equipment for a solid workout. I would add a water cooler though.I really wouldn’t change anything major about our experience.

2022-06-16At the Walker Hotel. For $400/night youll be granted access to.One slightly dingy 10x10 room.A memory foam mattress thats lost its memory. (It was like sleeping in a lumpy hammock)A desk so close to the bed that the chair cant be sat on.An air-conditioner that makes a sudden loud bang every 30-40 minutes. Which disturbingly, sounds just like someone forcing the door lock open.A glass shower door that will not close. Because its falling off the wall.A broken shower head. Which, with the spray velocity of a fire hose, sprays water directly towards the ceiling. (The water had blasted the paint off of the ceiling. So this clearly isnt a new issue)A shower floor that turns into a pool because the floor slopes away from the drain.A bathroom floor which, due to the aforementioned issues, floods when attempting to use the broken shower.Significant amounts of time spent waiting for the one working elevator. Mostly because its constantly being hijacked by the hotel staff. (Only once did we wait less than 5 minutes. And twice we were politely asked to wait so the staff could use the elevator before us. Once while we were carrying all of our luggage.)

2022-05-21I wish I could recommend this hotel. The most (and only) positive thing I can speak to is about the location (one star). It ends there. Outrageously priced. $600-$700/night. I expected so much more for that price. Save your money and goes elsewhere. My room (Grove Queen!) was very small and dark. Dirty/filthy window didn’t allow much natural lighting. Two nights of our stay there we were unable to get cocktails in the bar because the bar/restaurant was being used for a “special event”. Me and six other people got stuck in one of the elevators. Read other reviews about stuck in the elevator. The night before my check-out, I inquired about a late checkout in the morning. The front desk told me “no problem”, but to call the front desk in the morning. I called and asked if I could have a one-hour late checkout. Star (she needs to be replaced) at the front desk said she could give me a 30-minute late check-out. Oh, wow. What a compromise! She refused to give me an hour, but was willing to give me 30 minutes. So petty & ridiculous after spending $4000 for 6 nights. I’m a Bonvoy Marriott member. I thought I would give Walker a chance. I expected so much more. I’m back to lodging with Marriott - who gives me 4-5 hours late checkout, large rooms, better lighting, access to bar/restaurant, and no getting stuck in an ancient elevator!

2022-06-12Its a vintage style hotel and it achieves an awesome vibe. They sometimes have musicians playing jazz standards and other songs, and the decoration is an awesome Art Deco style. But doing vintage style doesnt mean you have to offer beds with sheets that feel like they are really 30 years old, they felt almost like sandpaper. This hotel needs to upgrade their bed game, even the pillows felt like they were from my grandmothers bed. The design is beautiful, but they got to change some things that in 2022 are not acceptable imo. The hall past the entrance that leads to the restaurant and elevators always had an awful smell. The service is really good and friendly, they have good amenities like free bottles of water at any time, but other details made the experience not that great, sure its awesome to take a shower in a bathroom that looks and feels from the 20s, but that doesnt mean you need to use a shower head fixture from the 20s that looks a bit rusted and doesnt stay in the direction you leave it in. Would definitely recommend it for a couple of nights if you really want the vintage feel, but I would even recommend it more if they fixed this little quality of life details.

2021-10-13Such a cute hotel!!! And perfectly located as well! The front desk staff are friendly and helpful! The rooms were clean and nicely decorated. We never went to the restaurant but it smelled wonderful and the staff seemed very welcoming as we passed by. The coffee in the mornings and the bottled water is an added touch. We will definitely stay there for any future New York trips.

2022-05-06They lost our reservation and argued with us until we produced an email proving our point. They blamed it on an employee no longer with them. They charged us despite us already having a huge credit from a previous reservation. The rooms are really hot and the ac isnt working because theres a city ordinance that demands ac be drained for 3 days (no there isnt. We checked). Our phone didnt work and our room wasnt serviced until we asked. On the up side, there was free water and Hershey kisses at check in. No robes. $500 a night. You can Def do better for the money.

2022-02-16Love this hotel lobby! Great place to tuck into a corner and hash out some work emails or have a cool background for a meeting. The wifi was great and the surrounding area was great to explore on breaks. Will for sure come back

2022-06-21My first night here, I opened the door to the hotel room and was greeting by a Flower of Life wall decor hanging in front of my bed with my favorite color scheme. In the Lobby, Danny the night receptionist played beautiful music for me on the piano. I used their sexy rotary style telephone in the room to call my dad and wish him fathers day. I used the same phone to dial my girlfriend in another country that I havent talked to on the phone in forever at no additional charge. I listened to the analog radio in the room while a warm light from the lamp illuminated the desk I was working on, it was very productive. When I went to check out the, doorman Andy greeted me with an orange juice and the manager Star helped me book my travel for the rest of the week and also recommended a rooftop cafe that im headed to right now. The staff here are so amazing and friendly. The vintage decor makes you feel like youre a businessman living the in 1940s. I will be staying here every time im in NYC, whether for one weekend as a vacation or for a 2 week long business trip. If you want an experience like this, stop looking around and just book the hotel already. This hotel will change your life and make you a better person. Im not joking. $500 is cheap for this type of hotel. You wont regret it. Peace and Love 💜
