Best selection of Testors Model Master enamels in the area. I love shopping at Walts when I can get there.Theyve even take my telephone orders for essential paints so that I can have a friend who lives near the store pick them up for me. Wonderfully considerate of them, and a real blessing for me.
What a wonderful place still. I used to frequent this hobby shop as an adolescent years ago in the 90s and they always had what I needed. Ive since moved away to the buffalo are and have been vacationing at Oneida lake for the week. My 12 year old son had really taken to the hobby of RC trucks especially the crawlers and we went there today and were not dissapointed with the amazing staff. Friendly, honest and extremely knowledgeable on the subject. I will be ordering directly through them for all of our RC needs from buffalo for now on. Mike was a great representative of not only the hobby but of the store itself. Thanks guys you made my sons week✔️🙌
Poor customer service. They drive their own sales away.I saw Walts stand at the 2017 NY State Fair, selling two drones for $25 each. I stood at the stand and talked for quite some time to the employees that were helpful answering questions, looking for my first drone. The store is only 7 minutes from the fairgrounds so I drove over to see their entire selection, being impressed with what I had seen at the stand. When I got there, I found the same drones for $15 more.I asked the older gentlemen at the counter if I could buy it at the fair price (which I would only have known if I saw it at the fair) because I felt I should not be charged more than I was originally offered after being interested enough to make the trip to the store. The employee told me he had no idea what the guy at the stand was selling them for, and that he would not sell them for his price, unless the man called him first. He acted as if the stand had no connection to the store, and like it was impossible to contact the employee. He acted ignorant in order to escape honoring their sale, and suggested I buy another ticket to the fair to buy it from the stand. The display at the fair intrigued me enough to drive to their store, for the purpose to buy that day. Walking into the store, I knew I was going to at least buy the drone that I saw at the fair, for the price that I was told. After talking to the employee, I headed to my car while looking up the drone on Amazon.Management obviously needs to double check how the employees handle their customers if they are driving away customers who are coming to them on a silver platter. Online sellers arent stealing their business, they are giving it away.
Been going here for seems like forever. About 20 years or so. This place is great and the guys here are extremely knowledgeable. They have everything RC and model too. Including Warhammer stuff and painting stuff too. They also have a great RC track inside which is very good size for the off-road style buggy or truck RCs. I highly recommend going here first for anything. Including just picking the guys brains with some questions they are always glad to help you out with just about anything
I went there with my husband to look for some paints and other miniature painting items. They had everything he was looking for and more. One of the staff members was extremely helpful and knowledgable, and my husband got to chat with him about his hobbies. Will be returning any time we are in the area.
These guys are all very nice, knowledgeable, and helpful. They have a decent amount of parts and RTRs, and have always gotten anything ordered in promptly. The prices are fair and the rewards program is a nice bonus. The last star is missing only because there is not a very good selection of in-stock parts for rock crawlers, they are race-focused. But the carpet track is decent and its fun to do the open track days, no matter what youre running!
Great store, they have supplies for RC planes, cars, and models; they even have supplies for model trains. The employees will help you with any of your questions and theres a RC plane flight simulator in the back so you can feel confident picking up the hobby. They also have an indoor race track for RC cars. If youre into RC planes or cars and youre in Syracuse, this store is the place to go.
If you hobby spupplies then this is THE place to get them. Cutters, glues, wood, plastics, flock, you name it they probably have it or can get it for you after a small order period. Its amazing how well stocked they are and how knowledgable the staff is. With plenty of space, an indoor race track for rc and climb cars, and lots of kits to build. Its a perfect spot for new hobbiest and veterans to go, hang out, buy and build kits, and meet other people in the hobby community.
Been going to walts for many years and they are always helpful and friendly. i only do modeling and painting but they are always helpful. great location for me. right up the street!. the employees have been there for many years so you know they know what they are talking about. love walts!
I have beengoing there since moving to Syracuse, being from Toronto I have been to a hobby shop or two and I can say Walts does NOT disappoint!Their Selection is very good and they are always willing to help and are knwoledgable about the products they sell.I have purchased plastic model kits and r/c helicopters from them and never had a bad experience there! My only gripe would be I wish they were closer but then again that would be even more dangerous for my wallet!Keep up the good work guys!
I went here to buy some electrical parts and gear lubricant. I was told if the wire I purchased or lubricant wasnt the correct product for my particular application that I could return the items I purchased. The associate that sold me the products opened the wire to show me the size of the insulation on the wire so I could decide if I thought the wire insulation may be to wide for my application. After going home and testing the fit of the wire I found that it would be to big for my application. I also decided to go with a different type of lubricant than what the walts hobby associate suggested i use, as it was not correct for my application .I returned to the shop to try to return the items. They denied me a refund saying they do not offer refunds on open items even though I did not open the package, they did. Also denied my refund for the completely unopened lubricant explaining they only offer store credit returns or exchanges. THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN NICE TO HAVE BEEN TOLD THIS PRIOR TO MY PURCHASE. I will not shop here again as this is frustrating.
Im looking to get started on rc racing but Id like to start off fast with a good quality and durable rc truck that can jump and flip. Like a jlb cheetah or bison. And it has to be waterproof. Any help on what kinds of awesome trucks your store has would be great!! Thanks.
I bought a r.c car from walts it broke so I went back they ordered the part well 4 weeks later still no part and just called them they told me another week.and of course I had to pay for parts upfront very bad customer service you would think they would get a different vendor o well never agian. But when parts did come in I want to thank Todd for fixing it fast for me t.y todd
Walts is a family run business which has been a landmark for hobby enthusiasts in the Central New York York Area for many, many years now. They have fought back against the trend of declining locally owned, advanced hobby specific shops. The store has stayed in business out of the love of providing for the needs of serious hobbyist, hobbyisy who consider the time they spend on their hobbies not merely as leisurely activities but as lifelong pursuits of knowledge and understanding. You can expect to find specialized equipment and parts for such hobbies as aeronautics, radio-controlled devices, scaled model railroading, expert modeling and diorama, and a number of other serious endeavors. The shop is always fully staffed with a number of experts well versed in all these areas. Theres also a large indoor carpeted track for radio controlled cars and an outdoor dirt track They have spaces that allow for meetings of various hobby clubs. The business having taken on the franchise of HobbyTown, has not been a distraction from the personal attention they give to each of their customers. The new franchises has allowed them to serve the public better. My only criticism is that I always hoped they would provide more for the needs of mid and high power rocketry.Their prices might be a little higher for common items that you could get at the generalize chain hobby stores like Hobby Lobby, but for many area they go well beyond the common items offerering on site specialized parts and accessories unavailable elsewhere and at prices competitive to any on line source. If you are traveling down Interstate 90 and you want to visit a real hobby shop, it would be worth getting off at exit 39 which is the Baldwinsville/Syracuse exit. Travel a short distance east down interstate 690 until you come to the State Fair Boulevard exit 5. It is an easy off and on. Travelers, it will be worth the stop.
The staff are great here and very helpful my only complaint is that ive gone there on open track days and the special little race car guys dont want my traxxas slash on their track so if ur running an off-road car there be warned maybe they thought it was cooler than their cars and didnt like that
That place is awesome if you cant find what youre looking for all you have to do is ask for help. They like to go by first name basest there and it makes you feel like home. If they dont have it they can find it and the prices are very low, they try to give the lowest prices then eny one around.
I got a great rc car the Helion rockrider and I’m new so this was perfect for me it’s a great truck and it bashes real nice I liked there place so much this the only hobby shop I’ll go to now .They have new trucks and cars and they order pretty quick and they know more about rc’s then me so they were great to find me what I needed to get my self in this hobby.
Your web site is pretty weak in regards to tracks. we have a traxxas slash short course. do you have an off road track? i saw some videos on youtube of a converted carpet track. do you race them on a certain night? any information would be awesome! thanks and i look forward to racing! also i use to run on your clay oval many moon ago!

2021-12-12Gr8 place, been buying from them since the late 70s; kinda disappointed that I couldnt buy model paint kits for a modeling set (military, cars and such). Many new choices, youll need to bring your colors list for your model.

2021-09-23Its gotta be nice to know you have enough business and dont feel the need to help the guy who is in front of you. Judging from the 2 only other times the door opened while I was there, maybe this behavior isnt warranted. I will give the older guy credit for at least checking that my stuff still worked. Not everyone can or wants to buy a $700 RC car. I found the allegedly unicorn level part I needed, using my phone in the parking lot. This is why Amazon is killing mom and pops. I used to think it was a bad thing, because Amazon doesnt have the ability to let you touch the product, nor do they have what is supposed to be an expert who can help guide the customer. Not even trying to find the needed part, does not an expert make. Try harder. A lot harder.
