Unfortunately we were excited to try this new place, having good expectations of the place, as soon as we sat, the server offered different types of water and we ordered our drinks. My husband ordered a beer and I ordered a glass of rose wine ( which never arrived to the table) I looked at the 3 course menu they offered, it seemed appetizing so I ordered from it. But after a few minutes I decided I wanted to change my mussels I that ordered and so told the waiter… He said to try them and i told him I wasn’t sure if I would like them. He insisted I should try them and if I didn’t like it he would change it for me… so he convinced me to keep my order, but big mistake, I didn’t like the criole sauce and the waiter never showed up to even ask if I like it. So the full dish stayed on the table intact. My kids didn’t like the burgers either, and my husband said the lobster roll wasn’t that great. One positive thing though, the Lobster bisque was great, the calamari was awesome. But that’s all I can say 😞 such a disappointment… took a while to get the check, we asked for to go boxes and those never arrived. We paid cash and walked out ….
This place is amazing! Not only was the food delicious but the service here was spectacular! My father is known to be very picky and we ordered the lobster frites for him and he loved it!! We also ordered the lobster roll and the truffle lobster mac n cheese, which is definitely underrated, it was really good! The calamari was the usual, which was still good. Don’t get me started on desserts! They were phenomenal! The triple chocolate cake was perfectly sweet and the creme brûlée was amazing! My mother isn’t a fan of sweets but she really enjoyed the creme brûlée! Can’t wait to come back here again!!
What a spectacular addition to Port Washington! The service was excellent! This was our first time going and we both knew their speciality is Mussels, but there were quite a few other dishes we wanted to try. We ended up having Fondue as the Appetizer and escargot. I really liked the Fondue and Escargot. Both were great. We ordered Thai Mussels. I will never look at Mussels the same. Simply amazing!Reservations are a must.
Staff are very friendly and helpful. Love the food. We used to go the one owned by the same owner in Garden City. Barrister made us Cappuccino with Christmas tree and mistletoe on top. We loved it. It was so sweet of the Barrister coming over to greet us. Forgot to take pictures of their specialty - mussels pots. Tuna tart tart was so good that we ordered a second one. Grilled octopus is one of the best that we have tried in many restaurants in NYC metropolitan area. We ordered our favorite mussels pots - Paella and Waterzooi. Not disappointed at all. The same quality and taste the same as the original restaurant. We tried Belgian waffles the first time. We picked strawberry, whipped cream and raspberry sauce & chocolate sauce on the side. It was fresh and warm, not overly sweet. Very good. Both children and adults liked it. We left happy and satisfied.
Parking is easy to find as there is a rear lot. I find it easier to go here by making a reservation. Food, drinks and dessert are all great! Very relaxing and calm setting. The sweet potato gnocchi is a must try! Their signature dish the Waterzooi as well is highly recommended.
By far one of the best seafood place Ive been to in Long Island! Went here on a tuesday around lunch time and had a great experience with the place. The tables are far enough we could socially distance and the servers are all wering masks all throughout (theyre very nice and friendly too!). The food was amaaaazing! And enormous! You literally get your moneys worth! My favorites are, Waterzooi (the entree), and homard (mussels in lobster sauce!). It was very tasty and tasted very fresh! I highly recommend this to anyone! They truly deserve 5 stars!
Sunday night a friend and I went to Waterzooi in Port Washington. My friend and I wanted a green salad. They only had a salad with apples and nuts with horseradish dressing. For the main course, I had to have them make to order a pot of Moules that were like those served in France. They had only ones that were everything but not original. My friend ordered a filet of fish dinner and found a hair in it. She returned it, competely disgusted, and was brought another salad that she didnt really want. When the bill came. They took off her fish did, but charged her $16 for the extra salad. There was no apologies for the hair in her food, or even giving her the salad at no choice. Poor uncaring management. And the bill was over $100. Dont go there it needs the Board of Health to check what is coming out of the kitchen.
Food was amazing. Only downside was not one person came and wiped our table down during the whole time we were there. They just put the plates down on the messy table throughout the meal. Would have given five stars if not for that. For the money I paid I would expect a clean table.
Every dish we got was incredible. Starting with the appetizers- calamari, king crab legs, mussels. We also got paella, lobster frites, wagyu surf and turf, burger, lobster. All amazing. We went ahead and got dessert since the flood was so amazing! Beignets, Brussels coffee, cheesecake, chocolate cake. Would 100% recommend.
Made a reservation last night for their yurt. When we arrived we were told they never turned the heat on inside. We drove a half an hour and got a babysitter to have a safe night out and was never notified that they weren’t using them last night because it was too cold. Isn’t that what they are there for?Why advertise them when you aren’t actually using them. It was all handled very poorly with lots of excuses. What a waste of a night!
For those who would go to Epcot and Las Vegas to experience the world and pay handsomely for the parody, ignorant of what to expect for that reason, this is for you. To call it mediocre is misleading - that can still be enjoyable and delicious and this is neither. Baffled from the beginning with their bland butter and baguette was the tell. Whether oysters, onion soup, bisque, burger, bouillabaisse or even a simple bistro steak, this is corporate park cafeteria food in dress up for Belgium Day insultingly treating customers like the know-nothing hoi polloi they are coming there not to be. There is clearly a demand though and, at these prices, hopefully head and sous chefs or restaurant entrepreneurs will see the opportunity and serve up something legit in Port Washington and elsewhere on the Island.
The food doesn’t have taste and doesn’t taste like genuine sea food. I got the lobster Mac and cheese and the lobster tasted so bad. Then I got the zalm which was the salmon and it tasted terrible, doesn’t taste like wild caught salmon. My friend for the lobster and it also didn’t taste well. I don’t know how this place got a 4.5 star rating. Honestly everything tasted terrible. Would not recommend!
I have been a fan of the Garden City location of this restaurant since I found it over 10 years ago.Thought I would try the new location as a way of supporting our local restaurants that are having such a hard time surviving during this incredible period in our history. They did not disappoint, and this is coming from someone who just doesn’t care for Mussels. My table of 5 ordered different appetizers and entrees and succeeded on all accounts, very hard to do! Even the final cup of coffee with my creme brûlée was right on the moneyOn a cold December nite we went to see how outdoor dining could possibly succeed under brutal conditions , but their tent, with private globes and portable heaters made it happen. Indoor seating looked to be nice and safely seated, but we wanted an experience, and I have to say we got one!Well done folks , dinner was great
Comfortable atmosphere.Tables well spaced and partitioned and seats at the bar well partitioned with plexiglass.Sat at the bar with an old buddy for lunch today. Started with the Korean BBQ ribs and lobster appetizers. Friend had the mussels. I had the breakfast burger ( 2 sunnyside up eggs bacon and cheese) medium rare with fries and Belgium waffles for dessert. Had a few ales in the meantime. Large selection of draft and bottled beers. Great food. 4 th time there. Always consistent. Bar tender was great, friendly and professional. Wish I remembered his name. I think he mentioned he was originally from Albania. He was exceptional ! Will continue to go back.
We had a great time there last night with a party of 9. You can expect great service. We had a fun waitress assisted by a couple busboys that watched over our table and saw to it that we had everything we wanted. You can expect great shell fish. The moules pots hold 2.5 lbs of mussels and the add on calamari was a generous portion served on the side, not in the pot. My wife and I shared a pot with a side of calamari and two drinks and it came to about $60 before tax and gratuity.
Im a big fan of the Garden City version of this restaurant. The Port Washington version captures the same magic in a newer space with higher ceilings. This was my first indoor dining experience since March, so Im glad it was a positive one! I only had some oysters and pilsener, but Ill be back for a fuller experience.
Excellent service and attention during dining. The bouilabaisse had huge portions and was very flavorful. Rsvped the day before, was running late and let the restaurant know which was not an issue. Food service was quick, food came out hot. There were mosquitos outside, waiter went out of the way to provid us with off which helped keep the mosquitos away.
Waterzooi is great and I have been a fan of the Garden City location for years. Unfortunately the design of the Port Washington location is defective and the sound level is unbearable — and likely unhealthy. This needs to be fixed. Until it is the restaurant is unfit for human habitation

2022-06-20Nice vibe and good food. I love the Truffle Lobster Mac n Cheese but was not that into the seafood entree, Waterzooi, which is a bit subtle to me. I’d definitely go back and try the mussel pot on my next visit.

2022-02-03Always a fun time at Waterzooi. The mussels and french fries are a great reason to come. Each variety of broth Ive tried has been a tasty sensation. Too many favorites to list but a must try is the Farm House Ale one, smokey and creamy with bacon. Delicious. Ive been coming to Waterzooi for years, two locations. Port Washington being the newer of the two. Service was outstanding and the menu options cover all proteins. So if mussels is not your thing, dont fret. They have steak, chicken, seafood galore and even salads.

2022-01-06We had a delicious meal here! Mon-Weds they have mussel mania which is a great deal- 3 course meal for an extra $5-10 depending on which mussels pot you choose. The portions are huge. We also ordered the lobster roll which was tasty with lots of lobster on it and the truffle parmesan rosemary fries are amazing. Great service too!

2021-11-22This is my second time here. Came back here for restaurant week and we all order the mussels pot. Each pot has their own distinctive taste. Very hard to tell which one we like better since they all are very good.

2021-09-26Great place for some lovely mussels. The staff is great and very accommodating. If you have kids ask about the kids menu. The food was a little salty but full of flavor. The portion are big enough for 2 people. This is a new location and its not as good as the original.

2021-08-27I used to frequent the Waterzooi located in Garden City but this location at Port Washington has outshined that one!The oysters and mussels were fresh and delicious as always. Drinks were made strong enough 😉. We ordered many items one of which was the Porterhouse for 2 cooked rare. They nailed it!! It was just right 👌. We also had the dessert that was recommended by our server and it was delectable. You can see it being made right at the coffee bar. What made our dining experience here exceed the experience at the Garden City Waterzooi location was Carlos. Our server was Carlos and he was friendly, so efficient, and provided great banter. Carlos, thanks to you, we cant wait to return!

2022-02-17Had a fantastic dinner celebrating a friends birthday. We all started out with cocktails from the extensive drink menu. Ordered lobster mac n cheese and fondue for our shared appetizers, which were outstanding. For the main course I completely enjoyed every last bite of the lobster roll with truffle French fries. Had a taste of the birthday girls waffle with Belgian chocolate, berries and whipped cream! Everything was so good and the service the entire evening was superb.
