Food is good here. I find the prices to be very reasonable. Have been going here for years especially on Fridays for the fish fry. I usually have the fresh fish sandwich and their homemade mushroom soup. Desserts are house made and very good.

Today I went to wayside. I dont know if they have a new chef but I had ordered the broil fish with mac and cheese and French fries this fish is supposed to be boiled it was still a little raw and the mac and cheese was disgusting the noodles are overcooked and the cheese was the squeeze cheese they took out of the refrigerator and just poured it over to noodles the cheese was cold

Great Fish Fries. Cant say Ive had much else. Would be nice though when you call in and order it to go if they told you it was a separate entrance (other than the main restaurant entrance). Just an FYI you need to go further into the parking lot for what appears to be a door off the kitchen entrance.

Fast, efficient, family atmosphere; yet, professionalism is clearly key❣️ Loved the tableside attention from management/possibly newer owners? A kind, respectful, 5-star young man went out of his way to welcome us and chat about the incredibly delicious coffee. Cant wait to make this a staple place again.

Wayside Restaurant is a nice place to go where you can get good food at reasonable prices. They have an extensive menu. I usually get the turkey dinner. It comes with a nice helping of turkey and sides. You even get non-processed cranberry sauce. They also have a good fish fry. The wait staff is always very friendly and attentive. The owners are on premises quite a bit and are friendly themselves. There is hardly a wait to be seated and there is plenty of parking.

My go to place when I come home to visit. I don’t care if my server is slow or a little absent minded. It’s the friendliest place around. Besides, my parents raised me right so I try to be understanding.Anywho, I LOVE the Fish fry! I have tried different restaurant’s fish fry’s and they are by far one of the best around. I find their food prices are comparable to other area restaurants and let’s face it folks, the pandemic hurt a lot of businesses so if I have to pay a little more to help a business out, so be it.Thank you, Wayside staff. I’m looking forward to ordering in the very near future.

Not a bad place to eat if you can deal with an absent mindless waitress. I have given them multiple chances. I even tried making reservations. Last week last straw. I arrived around noon. We gotta table for 4 almost right away. All is good. Our waitress asked if she could get us anything. We ordered coffee. They then ignored us for 45 minutes before the SAME waitress offered us coffee. We ordered she apologized and came back 10 minutes later. This seams to be regular service for these guys and gals.

The food is good but I was a bit surprised about the fish fry..it was ok but the price shocked me. $14. Plus. That was a bit much ....plus the Pepsi my bill was like over $18...I dont think Ill get it again. Too expensive ...it never was that much. ...Im going to say this too...the staff is stressed out...like in a hurry to get rid of you so they can get more people in ....I always feel rushed in there....seems like they have to make a quota or something. ....make more money...$$$
The food is amazing there no matter what you get breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Service was fast and friendly as ever!! I love this place! Been there plenty of times and never a let down ever 🙂

Been going to the Wayside for over 40 years. Last several times Ive been in a neighboring table has complained about something. Thought it was them. Was there about 2 months ago and the food was absolutely horrible. Chalked it up to a bad night. Went in today and my guest said what happened to this place. Food is declining - prices are increasing and the staff all appear stressed out. The owner, in the heart of working class South Buffalo, pulls up in his Jaguar. This place aint what it used to be- and the current owners are using the past repetition of the place as their Cash cow.

I had the broiled Greek fish and it was terrific. The fish was a large piece and came with 3 sides. I got German potato salad, tuna mac salad, and a small cehf salad. Service was fast and everything tasted great! Really enjoyed my meal here but I always do. Good value too!
Wayside restaurant is an all American diner in my opinion. Very cozy with a warm atmospheric delight. Consider stopping in and you can experience it for yourself. The light whisper of the locals chatting about old day passed of South Buffalo. Great service, too.
4 ⭐s for home-made soup!! I ordered 2 cups of stuffed cabbage or pepper(cant remember)My 1st visit was around 11/2020 Advertised prices on restaurant website apparently do not reflect the inflated real prices. I had to put a cup of soup back!Every time Im working in that neighborhood i call to see if they have that stuffed peppers soup but its always beef barley or something. Always 2 choices!!😀
Pretty standard fare as far as a local diner is concerned. The decor is not updated and the ambiance isnt classic diner. They stopped being 24 hours ad the quality of food went way up. I always get a burger and am satisfied with it. My husband has his variety of favorite items and is always very impressed with the food. The staff is always incredibly lovely and are very attentive.
I go there on Fridays, one of the tastiest fish fry dish in town. Good prices and great great great customer service. Check it out u wont be disappointed. Did I mention great customer service 😉. Its family owned and operated since the eighties. Hey they been there that long Im sure they are doing something right😉
My wife ordered 2 fish fries for me to pickup on my way home from work at 3:00pm. I arrived at 2:58 and stood there waiting for 20 minutes for my order. After a while one of the workers tried to give me 2 fish fries that were sitting by the counter with someone elses name on it. I said thats probably cold its been sitting there as long as Ive been standing here. Then they brought an order out that must have been sitting in the back room because when I got it home it was ice cold. I called complaining and the lady on the phone said she would give me a credit this week. Guess what...I paid full price even after my wife reminded them about the cold foo.
Been going here for many years. My kids used to go there when they were younger now they are older. .thats how long we been going there! My son used to work there too. .love wayside wish they would deliver food that would be great and i would order food all the time.i always make a order of baklava too love it. gives a 100 stars* * 🍲
Great food and good service
Nice relaxing diner with a great selection. I had creamy turkey soup with dumplings that was the best I ever tasted. Added to that was a chicken souvlaki wrap that was delicious too. Came with fries and will pickle. Very good waitress, service and pricing.
The waitress Donna was so nice, very attentive to our needs. I ordered a roast beef sandwich and mashed potatoes, they were so delicious. My friend had chicken fingers and I ordered goulash to take home to have later. The cook does an excellent job. It is a quaint diner.
Their food is damn delicious. Not really good options for vegetarians, but the food they do have offers an authentic Buffalo experience. Im still wondering who decided to pair spaghetti with ribs though..interesting combo..but Im sure some would view that as the best of both worlds. Service was quick, waitors and waitresses were friendly. Very affordable for some TASTY food.
I give it 10 stars plus. I had the beer battered fish it hung over the plate. It was so awesome. It was my first time there. Very nice place. Food was good the bomb. Mgmt and staff very nice too. Went over and beyond. Ill be back again. Great job. Keep up the good work.
Like my brother said today to the waitress, We have been coming to this restaurant for 4o years and have never had a bad meal. The food is always good. The staff is friendly and always checks to make sure we have everything we need.

Ive been here twice and each time the staff is great and the food is tasty. They have a lot of options, this is your classic family diner and they are definitely popular. They were busy for Sunday brunch but they have plenty of room and parking to make sure you get a table. Overall good experiences!

This location is wonderful! First time going there and I enjoyed everything! Definitely a cozy place, good service, portions are huge, prices are great, fast delivery of the food and for sure we will go back there next visit in! Absolutely love the chicken fingers sub! A must try!
Mediocre at best. Horrible service. Bland food. My steak and home fries had absolutely no seasoning or flavor. Our waitress didnt introduce herself, she just walked up and said what do you want and took very long to get back to us. Maybe Ill give it another chance some day but not anytime soon.

Nice local spot. Food was great, stopped for breakfast 4 strait days while in town. Staff very nice, fast with drink and food order. If there is a negative about the place its the locals. Lots of old women wearing way too much perfume. Guess they thought wayside was spray way to much perfume on both sides of body. Also someone needs to tell people you dont have to yell into cell phone. The point of phone is not having to yell for that person to hear you.

Always great staff, food and atmosphere. Specials everyday, today on 3/11/18 a prime rib dinner is one of the specials. Got the Reuben decker to go and it was excellent as always, it was still hot and crispy when I got them home ;) I only live 5 minutes away so that may make a difference depending on how far away you have to go.
Id rate this restaurant at 4 1/2 stars. Ive have been patronizing this restaurant for the past 20 years. Its family owned and the food is close to home cooking as you can get. Their deserts are all home made and theres a wide variety of pies, cakes, rice pudding, and ice cream. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. Its family oriented with a kids menu. Their menu is quit extensive and they have lunch and dinner specials every day. Its very crowded on Fridays ( sea food menu ), Saturday and Sunday during the dinner hour. The food is very good, people come from other rates to eat here.

First time in here atmosphere is good, fair prices. Need to find better stakes (ribeye, sirloin, t-bone) and at least a little seasoning on it.

Great diner! Hugs portions, reasonably priced. There is a large menu selection, and dinners come with unlimited salad bar. You dont find that in diners these days.Also, all the tables along the walls have charging ports for electronics! It is the only place I have ever seen that.
Went for breakfast. Clean, efficient waitresses and at the 9 a.m. hour the place was easy to get a table. This restaurant has Been around a long time. The food has always been good with assorted specials everyday. Prices are reasonable.

My wife and I stopped here for breakfast on a Sunday morning; there was a short wait. We had mixed feelings about the food. We both ordered bacon & cheddar omelettes. The bacon inside was as hard as a rock, and for some reason mine had American cheese in addition to cheddar. The rest of the food was good, especially the toast - the bread tasted especially fresh. The staff was friendly and my coffee was kept full throughout our meal.
I really enjoy the food and friendliness of Wayside. When I lived in South Buffalo Wayside was one of my favorite places to have dinner. While shopping in the neighborhood last week I decided to stop for a relaxing late breakfast and they did not disappoint!For a friendly, family atmosphere take a trip to the Wayside. Three stars for the food; it was very good, hot and fresh. Hostess and waitress werent very pleasant. We had two kids meals and they never gave us the cookies; didnt realize until we got home.

Good for what it was, quick meal with 8 friends. Everyone found something to eat on the menu. I couldnt tell if my meal was turkey or pork when i ordered the pork dinner but there wasnt anything left on my plate. The portion was fair for the price. The inlets looked very big.
I enjoy many delights here, but I especially LOVE the Eggs Benny from Wayside. I cannot say with certainty that I have had better any where else, they are just so good that when in the mood, this place comes to mind every time!Try it, youll like it!
Ive done a review awhile back. Just as it states, a family restaurant. Free and handicapped parking on premises. Also street parking. Thet serve breakfast, lunch, dinner and have various specials that are changed daily. Also a kids menu is available. Service is very good as well as the food. There is a wide variety of deserts home made daily. Relaxed atmosphere. High recommand for hone cooked meals.
Good cheap eats! Hubby had reuben which he was happy with. It looked yummy. I had open chicken soulvaki, which was good too. Portion sizes were normal. Its nice to not overeat. Its not fancy, but it definitely hit the spot. Well be back.

Quility of food has gone down hill..I felt like a was in a old folks home cafeteria..the waitresses need to retire ..it was painiful to watch them work .

Place is usually awesome but me an my sister have been here for half hour an ordered food when we asked the waitress she informed that chicken fingers take awhile to cook. We both work in fast food places an know it does not take that long to cook them. Sweet tea was bad as well an they talked crap when we asked for to go boxes. Never will I eat here again

Less than stellar experience at this restaurant this morning. Ordered the Broccoli & Cheese Omelette. Even though the omelette was large I was surprised and disappointed to find it was made using frozen broccoli instead of fresh. My wife, on the other hand, ordered a Belgium waffle. Expecting a mouth watering fluffy hot waffle to enjoy she got a rather small cold one the she couldnt even get the butter to melt on. Not sure if it was fresh made or a prepackaged frozen one. The wait staff never returned to ask us if everything was OK or anything was needed. Water glasses (our only beverage) were left unfilled as well. While at the cashier stand we were never asked how our meal was. She just looked at the bill and announced the amount to be tendered. Took our hard earned money, a quick thank you and walked away. Might be just a off day for them. Cant say because this is the only time we have there.
Never had a problem with them until today! I ordered a half of ham sub, picked it up to go. I received a huge slab of fried ham that didnt fit on the roll and was a mess to eat. Cant eat it! Its unfortunate. Will not go back for a while
37 Minutes to get our order. The staff was extremely loud. After eating a quarter of my meal I found a hair, while waiting for a new plate we found a hair in my husbands food as well. The roomies didnt even want to attempt to finish. Manager was extremely rude. Needless to say I left the restaurant very unhappy and not paying for an entire thing. If I could not give a star at all I surely wouldnt. Waitress was rude as well and seemed like it shouldnt be an issue. She already lost her tip when it took a half hr to get my food. TIP- To insurer promptness. You Maam did not!

I would give a four Star but today I ordered two seafood platters and a fish fry all three dinners fish was hard and dried out it tasted like it was cooked ahead of time and rewarmed some of the shrimps were the same. Very disappointed with the meals this is the first time I had a bad meal.Denise Gozdziak
Ive ordered from Wayside for years. Ive always enjoyed the food and get the fish platter pretty often. Tonight I ordered my food and everything was fine until I pushed the fries off of my fish and found a long black hair pretty much melted onto the fish. I can only assume its the result of someone not properly wearing a hair net and their hair falling into batter. I had been concerned because I had seen some people in the kitchen without hair nets but I figured it was just dishwashers since they were carrying stuff around. Needless to say Ill be more cautious in the future if I decide to order from them again
I have been raised Italian, so I tried the Italian omelette. It was cooked to perfection, and the homefries with peppers and onions is awesome. The coffee was mild., but always a full cup. They have a V. I. P. card you get a punch for every visit. After 10 visits you get $5 off your 11th visit. I recommend you give it a try. I had to get a to go for the leftovers. Fair prices for a quality breakfast. Plenty of off street free parking. Next visit I will get some photos.
The pride of the South Park business district, this locally owned restaurant blows national chains out of the water. The staff is wonderful and the chef will cook your food how you want it, just ask. I love it every time, very cozy atmosphere. Highly recommended to locals and travelers.

The night staff was awful we usually have a great experience here. I did not get my salad until after my dinner was given to me only until I said something my husbands burger was totally burnt and everything on it was burnt and also my hot roast beef sandwich was freezing cold! We were very disappointed this visit!
1st visit to Wayside and we were impressed. It was clean, the staff was friendly as well as competent. Wide variety of food choices and VERY reasonable prices. Our food was freshly made, brought to the table piping hot and delish. If u havent been there make it ur business to go. You wont regret it.

Food was OK, I had chicken fingers and fries which are hard to mess up. The person I was with had souvlaki and clam chowder. Said the soup was just warm, salad with souvlaki was clearly bagged salad from the grocery store with one black olive, 1/3 of a pepper and a couple pieces of diced tomato. We were there later in the evening (945 at night) and the waitresses vacuumed the whole time we were there and they shut lights off in the area we were sitting before we left (probably around 1030, closing time is 11pm for reference). First time I had been there in awhile, doubt I would bother with it again.

The waitress was coughing everywhere 😷my friend order a burger and got chicken fingers also the bacon was over cooked,I asked for Scrabbled eggs and got an omelette cut in long strips, one of my friends got mash potatoes and they wear dry, and there burgers had no taste and where full of oil... DONT ORDER PANCAKES they wear full of butter and had no flavor the worse thing was that everyone was staring at us cuz we were a table full of different races it was so uncomfortable

Waited far too long for our food.... We ordered a chicken finger sub with French fries and a turkey sandwich with soup. We sat there for thirty minutes waiting for our food and finally the waitress comes over and tells us that they are waiting on French fries... We wait another ten minutes... Still nothing... We will never ever come back to the wayside again! And customers who were seated after us received their food before we did.

Bad!..My Rubin sandwich came on the plate, sloppy..it was cut in different sizes. It was a triple decker with only two slices on one piece of the sandwich. It looked like it was leftovers..very disappointed..I do have to say that I always have a good breakfast there...

Roast pork dinner was Just barely edible the dressing was cold and looked like something the dog barfed up and for the entertainment the two guys in the kitchen got into a rather loud fight waste of time and money, there are better places to eat

Good ok,. Waited 20 minutes and waitresses were too busy taking amoung themselves to see if we eawant dessert, so we left without it. Second time I have had bad service. Will not go back again.
I always love going to Wayside the foods always decent the people are good and Ive been going there since I was 15 years old before the owner when he was dead and still working there you just a kid but you have a good day and dealt with pork chops is great. ZZ
Great staff, friendly faces we have been seeing for years. Food is always good and if you have a problem, just let them know and they will take care of it.
Someone in the kitchen was having a bad afternoon....been here several times with no complaints but today was different.....I ordered beer battered fish that was more batter than fish and dripping grease on the plate....wife ordered broiled fish that was dry and was probably pre cooked and reheated....heavy fish smelling if that makes sense.....waitress immediately realized problem and took different order from my wife....she ordered beef slouvaki medium that came out super well done.....once again waitress recognized problem and remove it from check....before she could do this, she sheepishly came to table and asked for a piece of the charred meat as the manager needed to see it as he apparently didn’t believe waitress or my wife.....service was great.....food terrible and management worse.....no longer a customer there....

Dont drink the coffee it had brewed ants in it they look like coffee grounds but the most definitely are not coffee grounds ..... waitress es all just talk and dont pay attention to customers pretty sure the chili dogs was just canned Hormel chili....and the burgers tasted like frozen Aldis burgers ........the cheddar soup was excellent but I deffdefini dont whant to see how they made it the cleanleyness of the kitchen is disgusting...and service is slow
Very friendly and accommodating. I had the beef souvlaki. It was very good. Surprised that feda didnt come with it.. We had to pay extra.

Ordered from dinner entree menu. Salad with French dressing, honey dipped fried chicken,mashed potatoes and beets Chicken was over fried Could not chew some parts, they were as hard as stone Mashed potatoes were over salted. Beets were icecold. Not sure if they are served this way, Salad with raspberry vinegarette dressing ( wrong dressing) and bread was served when I was 3/4 of the way finished with what I ate of my dinnerWont be visiting this restaurant in the future

What I like about this place is that if you work here. and need to lower your child support all you need to do is just let the owner know and he will pay you in part with cash or if there is any other reason he will do the same just ask his cook don

2022-05-08This restaurant had a wonderful mothers Day menu . I myself had the lasagna dinner which came with turkey dumpling soup , a very healthy portion of lasagna with two meatballs (which actually made three meals for me) and a nice size slice of strawberry cheesecake.Everything was amazing .the lasagna was definitely something I would return for. thank you guys very much for a nice mothers Day meal. I would highly recommend this restaurant and definitely will be returning.

2022-03-27We came in the late morning for Sunday breakfast. We stood at the counter for about 5 minutes to be seated & no one said a word to us. People cashing out, waitresses going past us, not even a hello. Finally, the girl behind the counter at the cash register asked if we were picking up an order & we said no, we would like to be seated. She seemed disgusted, as if we were inconveniencing her. The look on her face & tone of her voice made our minds up that they were not getting our business! She pointed to a table for us & we said no thank you, were leaving!We will never step foot in there again!I wish I knew the girls name, but she was younger & had several tarnished necklaces around her neck. She was also unfriendly with a customer cashing out who asked for change. I hope they never return as well!
