Where to begin.... When we got our new Puppy in December, we called to get him in for a puppy visit. Both my boyfriend and I already have pets there. We were told they werent accepting new patients and were hung up on. The lady was extremely rude.I hadnt switched my cat over to the new vet yet when he started having seizures. He was diagnosed with Epilepsy and put on medication. When I called for a refill, I had to leave a message. I specified that I wanted a call back as I wanted to change the duration. They never called me, charged my card, and left my medication outside in a cooler all night. The ONLY reason I knew it had been filled is when I called because I saw the charge in my account. When I had called, I requested his medical records as I wanted to get him moved. I had not asked for his profile there to be closed out because I wasnt sure how long it would take me to get him in elsewhere. Well when I called for a refill, because I dont have enough meds to last until my first appointment with a new vet, they essentially told me that it wasnt their problem and hung up on me. This is life saving medication that they were refusing to fill.My parents cat unfortunately had to be put down. They called, they have seen their cat previously when he had a blockage. They claimed he was not a patient but they would put him down, it would just cost more. No one was allowed in for this so he was all alone when the time came.Would highly NOT recommend. Clearly do not care about the well being of pets and only in it for the money.Edit to original. Went to a new vet yesterday for my cat who has epilepsy. He is an indoor/outdoor cat. He had been on Bravecto previously for fleas and ticks. I specifically asked if he could still be on it with his history of seizures and wanted to make sure it wouldnt interact with his meds. They told me it was fine. Come to find out, there is a warning right from the manufacturers that Bravecto should not be used on animals with a history of seziures..... He was originally my grandmothers cat, I took him in when she passed. When I brought him to Weedsport when I first started having issues, they never once told me he was way past due on his vaccines. They also never sent the bloodwork they did to the new vets. I had more information with receipts than the new vet did in the records that were sent.
I cannot begin to describe how great the staff at weedsport animal hospital is. They have seen all of my pets since I was a kid and they are quick to help in everyway possible with my furbabies. From minor things like a stubbed toenail from a rough day of fetch to emergency surgery to save my dog from a blockage, this team has been there every step of the way for my family. I am so grateful for the great service they give and always being there when my animals need help. 100/10 stars. This team is amazing!
It is always great to find a skilled practitioner, but to find a skilled doctor who is so compassionate is always the best. My animals have always been under the care of Dr. Schnabel since I was a kid and I trust him. He always does his best and treats every patient with care and kindness. I have not enjoyed the pleasure of meeting Dr. Hopp yet, but I am sure that she is fantastic as well.
Just went for the first time in the pandemic. They handled everything very well, called the number they had posted when we arrived, got in line and paid over the phone. They came out and grabbed my cat out of the car and brought her back after she was done, pretty much contactless... Honestly it was the easiest visit for my cat ever, she didnt have to deal with the stressful dog filled waiting room she would normally have to.
Amazing customer service, outstanding care for your pets, very understanding, professional and personal. Hours work great with any schedule, and staff is so committed to caring for your pets, they usually stay later in order to provide treatment or Care for last minute emergencies. Myself and my family truly appreciates all the help and patience they have given for our very troubled cat Mocha! We would visit once or twice a week for months.
Weedsport Animal Hospital is wonderful. They have always gotten our animals in right away when there is a problem. They present different options for treatment if applicable and prices are very reasonable. I feel confident taking my pets there knowing they are being cared for well and we aren’t being asked to pay more than we should.
I have been taking my pets to Weedsport Animal Hospital for over 30 years and loved them UNTIL now!! I called about an ill and dying pet and got an answering machine, left a message and never received a call back until the following day. When I received the call back, the person was very rude and could not give me any answers to my questions, and told me she would talk to the doctor and call me back. Four hours later I still heard nothing so I called again and someone actually answered the phone(which they havent been doing since COVID) I asked if they had spoke with the Doctor yet and I was RUDELY told she was very busy and would call me back after hours. When I voiced my concerns about having to wait so long for an answer, I was put on speaker phone and had multiple people, including the Doctor telling me how busy they were and that do to COVID this was the way the practice was running and they didnt have time to answer the phone or answer questions. At this point I said maybe I should find another Vet for my pets and I was told go ahead, 20 minutes later they had emailed me all 3 of my dogs records with no explanation, apology or anything! Apparently they dont need or value long term patrons!! I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone, they obviously dont care about animals or people. If I couldve given 0 stars I would have!!! DO NOT GO HERE!!
Never really had a problem. Quick procedures when it comes to checkups and shots. With social distancing, they have you call in and say youre there with your animal, then someone comes out and brings the animal inside, then back out after whatever they need. Pay with a card then you go to a table next to the door to grab any medicine your animal needs. I think it works well to keep people apart.
Set up an appt for my dog with them that got cancelled when the covid quarantine started so they (understandably) cancelled on me and said they will call me to schedule a new appt as soon as they can again... Never heard from them. So my dog gets sick, so i called them to get her in... Sorry, were not taking NEW patients... I said i wouldnt be new of YOU didnt cancel the appt, can u suggest or refer another place? its an emergency... Nope.
After they opened, I got a new puppy who needed all of her shots. She only got her second round of 3- they told me to call the next day to set up her next appt- this was june 18 2020 and here we are July 24 2020 still trying every day to make that appt and there has been no return phone calls after leaving numerous messages. Terrible service. Transferring care. Wouldn’t suggest this place to anyone- and will make sure to let everyone know about it!
Never taken any of my animals to this place agian! Very aggressively man handles my 9 month old puppy only 11lbs for an examination. My mother was very disrespected by the staff when she brought her cat in there .Then when she explained to staff how she had to reschedule appointment because she didnt have enough at the time the receptionist got very irate and unprofessional. As my mother puts it (snotty and rude) I love my animals and when i seen how upset my mother was i had to review this if i could give 0 stars I would have.
As a dog owner for over 25 years and having dealt with several vets, the staff here is second to none. Their bedside manner should be applauded as I have had to put 2 dogs down which is never easy - They do not rush you and are very empathetic. I would not go anywhere else and they are 20 miles away and not the closest vet to my house!
Got a simple procedure, rabbit neutering, everything went great it seems, the waiting room, which was small, and its receptionists were frantic and overwhelmed but all good people. They called to check up on my rabbits the next day. A very caring and realistic staff and doctors, i listened to some chatter. The best part, the most amazing price, Ive called around a lot and oh my god, a procedure that could have cost another $100 or more somewhere else! Over all good experience!
We have a 4 year old chocolate lab. Trapper John. Last March he became very sick. Pancreatitis. After an evening at the emergency vet we brought him to his vet. Dr. Schnabel and Dr. Hopp. They were extremely concerned about him. They weren’t sure he would make it through the day. He spent 4 days there. The vets would go in in the middle of the night to check on him and spend time with him. They pulled him through. He is now has diabetes. After a few visits back and forth for a couple of months we finally got the right level of insulin needed to maintain his sugars. He’s now happy and healthy playing with his little brother Fisher. And Fisher, our 2 1/2 year old yellow lab had to undergo surgery for torn ligaments in August. Again. Perfection. He’s still on the mend but able to put weight on the leg and even run. Highly recommend to all. Best vets and staff!!Also when it comes the time to have to say goodbye to your fur babies. Very caring and sympathetic people. Unfortunately we’ve had to do that twice already.
I called to get my fur baby in to be seen and they were very very rude and swore at me would not and I mean absolutely not recommend this place to anyone. They were very unprofessional and would definitely NOT be calling them again. You want a vet near or in Auburn go to Brookside Veterinary Clinic Dr. McDonald is very patient and good with the animals they took very good care of my fur baby
Caring, attentive staff. I called the phone after hours to get the emergency vets number and they picked up the phone. My puppy was having a severe reaction to his vaccinations. They had me bring him right in, treated him and had us stay until they felt comfortable sending him home. I cant say enough about Dr Hopp and Dr Schnable. Love them!
We have three rescue dogs and have been going to this office for years. Melissa Dopp is wonderful and very personable. Dr . Snabble however is an arrogant ass that lacks the ability to interact with the people that pay the bills for the service he provides. They also do not have emergency hours which forces you to go to emergency care which is very expensive
This is where we take our furry family members for medical care. There staff is awesome with the critters and provides both preventive and curative care. Two generations of dogs in our family get their care at Weedsport Animal Hospital, and we wouldnt take them anywhere else
I called this morning to see if I could get my puppy in for his first shots. Weve had him a couple months now. The lady that answered the phone (chewing in my ear) was so not pleasant. She said they were booking out a month...ok cool! I then asked if that was going to be okay for him to wait that long....I get the response of idk...idk?? What do you mean? Umm okay should I get him in faster somewhere else?? You can call someone else. Ok cool...Thanks. Guess they dont need any more business.
DO NOT TAKE YOUR RABBITS HERE. The vet will say they are experienced with them but he is not, he instructed me to fast my 5 month old doe before her spay when this is the LAST thing you should be doing to a rabbit, this action could have killed her in surgery and he did not seem to care. I cancelled my appointment immediately. The price may be cheap but you are paying for cheap services and risk injuring your rabbit which needs much different care than cats and dogs.
I will NEVER take a pet to this dr. again. We dont go running to the vet at every little concern, but we chose to spend the time and money to take our dog because of his rapid resting heart beat. We were treated with contempt and talked to condescendingly while he barely even listened to what we were saying.I am happy to say that we have started taking our pups to Seneca Falls Veterinary Hospital. Dr. Darby is patient, intelligent, a good listener, and great with our animals. He heard us and gave wise advice. After going there I knew I needed to do a review regarding the treatment we received at Weedsport. I am glad we have choices.
Dr. Schnabel and his staff are AMAZING! I had to have my sixteen year old fur baby sent to heaven yesterday and Dr. Schnabel and his staff were so compassionate and understanding during this terrible time. I have been taking my animals to The Weedsport Animal hospital for many years and i will continue to do so for many many more. Wonderful wonderful people.
I WAS CALLING AROUND TO SEE IF ANY EMERGENCY VETS WERE OPEN OR TAKING ANY NEW PATIENTS UNFORTUNATELY MY PERSONAL VET ISNT AROUND TIL AFTER 330 AND I FEEL MY CAT IS GETTING WORSE SO I CALL WEEDSPORT ANIMAL HOSPITAL AND THE LADY ANSWERS AND I SAY GOOD AFTERNOON ARE YOU GUYS TAKING ANY NEW ANIMALS IN SHE SAYS NO AND I SAY OK WHY .... I lived in the Rochester area for 30 years and took my cats to doctors in that area. While the offices may have been more modern and the waiting rooms more comfortable the doctors and the staff were not as personable, attentive, informative, and compassionate as all the people of Weedsport Animal Hospital. I have total confidence and trust in Dr. Schnabel and Dr. Hopp. They take the extra minute to give me peace of mind because they know that my cats are my children and they give my cats the best possible care. I am very pleased to have Weedsport Animal Hospital available for the care of my kids. Oh, I mean cats.
Weedsport animal hospital prices are very reasonable prices and the staff is very nice. I was reading the comments on Dr. Schnabel, he is very forward but will do everything to take care of your pet and if he does not know he will call other vets, out of town to ask there opinion. My lexie was very sick and he called to check on lexie and was very troubled because he could not find the problem. Dr..Schnabel did diagnosis and everything worked out. With saying that your pet is in good hands with weedsport vet. I would not take my pet anywhere else.
I have been taking my animals (Dogs and Cats) to WAH since 2000 when I first moved to New York. Dr. and his staff have always rendered the best of care to all my animals over the years. He is very straight forward yet shows compassion at the same time. At one point, I moved to a different state and one of my dogs became gravely ill. I had not found a new vet so I called WAH and Dr. S. spoke to me over the phone and told me what I can do fro my dog in the meantime, and what to look for with a new vet given the illness in question.I find he does not do anything more than necessary as far as tests and charges when one of my animals had a sick visit and like they stay on top of immunizations when they are due and get notices well in advance.I highly recommend WAH!
I like the staff but my family will no longer take are animals back because of the wonderful Dr. Schnabel! We had to put down our oldest cat Abygail first then the younger one got sick. I think he wanted to go with her, And all Dr schnabel cared about was his finger that was bleeding and he yelled at staff to get him a band aid! This made me very angry so in the future when I get a dog I will not be bringing it here! This is a true story! He IS A COMPLEAT ASS HOLE!!!

2022-06-08This new vet shows priorities over other customers. Over charges for things you don’t need they told me I was able to go on with my old grumpy dog entering the same way since previous doctor charged for office visit. Did not give proper directions for sedation. Told me I could not go in even though it’s noted my old man is difficult. While I watched them letting other owners in. Then because I dared to question the reason used my vaping as an excuse to not see any of my animals again. I’ve been going to vet since the early 90’s. Please see photo of sedation kicking in now. Do yourself a favor find a new vet that doesn’t over charge and shows favoritism to other pet owners because they don’t like your dog.

2022-06-15I absolutely do not recommend this place. I rushed my puppy here in an emergency, desperately seeking help. I was met by a very polite woman who could see my concern, she took my dog and rushed her in. I got to the front window and the woman working there was blatantly rude. Everyone was acting as if me and my dog were a burden. They sent me home with antibiotics and hours later my dog passed away at another vet office (who actually tried to help her) if they had tried, or told me they didn’t have time to help her i would have taken her elsewhere. They left me with no directions other than antibiotics and take her in the shower. Her lungs were filling with fluids, she was in obvious pain and struggling to breathe and they told me to take her home. They also told me to call back with an update, i attempted to call back repeatedly for over an hour before they closed and got no answer. I did not get through to anyone until the following Monday. I then told the lady who answered that the dog had passed away and i got a forced “I’m sorry” and “I’ll let the doctor know”. No concern at all, or sympathy for the fact they didn’t help her or do their job to save her. It was a waste of $450 and i, nor my family, will ever go back. They need a new staff that knows some customer service.

2022-01-30The staff there is very helpful and extremely informative. Weve been bringing our cats and dogs there for 30+ years. Knowledgeable, professional and personable doctors and veterinary assistants. Theyre always there to help whether in person or virtually.

2022-06-18Dr. Hopp is absolutely amazing. The staff does the best they can with an enormous client/patient load that was previously handled by two doctors but is now seen by one doctor. Dr. Hopp can only see so many animals a day. The receptionists are frequently being talked down to and yelled at (often times with profanity) by unhappy clients. Its only natural if they occasionally match attitudes. Price are going up everywhere - this includes medical supplies and vaccines. It only makes sense that the prices in the offices are going to go up too. The office cannot charge less than they are paying when they still have overhead expenses too. Also, this office is NOT a walk in office and is not currently taking new clients/patients. This office has one full time doctor only. Dr. Schnabel still works there but as a surgeon only. Having one doctor on with a full schedule means that walk in emergencies are difficult to handle. Please also consider that because this office in NOT an emergency clinic there are NOT all the necessary equipment/staff that an emergency clinic would have i.e. - a full time surgeon, oxygen cage, ultrasonography (they are fortunate enough to have access to ultrasound but only one or two days a month). Also, this office doesnt discriminate against smokers or vapers UNLESS you are doing so in the office/waiting room. That behavior is against office policies AND against the LAW. Furthermore, using profanity towards staff/doctors, threatening violence and failure to follow office policies may result in termination of services.

2020-06-25Friendly staff, vet they take care of a friends dog that was rescued from a very abusive situation. As a result of Marleys abuse he has some aggressiveness issues that makes treatment difficult but the staff does a great job with Marley.

2021-09-22Not the same place I patronized for 40 years. Overpriced is all I will say I will not act like them or lower myself to their standards. Definitely not Docs practice anymore. I wouldnt take my animal there to be put down very sad sign of the times or just greed could be both. My humble opinion.

2020-10-02We bring both of our dogs here for their care. Love the vets and the assistants. What an amazing staff. They are always able to help fit us in when we come across what we consider emergencies as well. I am grateful for the amazing staff!

2021-08-05Some of the staff are miserable, rude and not easy to deal with. Called to change an appointment told they were booking out till October, I questioned why and the witch on the phone said if you do not like our scheduling feel free to go else where. Dr Hopp is good some staff need to go
