After staying at this hotel over the 4th of July weekend I would never stay again or even recommend this hotel/property. Security and customer service are the farthest thing from the Owners, Management and Staffs mind.Up check-in, I asked the front desk clerk if the hotel had a bell cart I could use because I have a small baby and with that comes a lot of extra items. I was told point blank, this is a run of the mill hotel, not a fancy hotel we do not have bell carts or elevators. No big deal just didnt expect that answer from someone who works at the front desk.Next morning as we are about to leave the room for the day, my husband who does contract work on the side noticed the door was off the frame, which means, you do not really need a hotel room key to access the room, all you need to do is put a flat card of some sort btw the door frame where the lock is you are in the room. When my husband went to the front desk to explain what he found not wanting anything, but for someone from maintenance to look at the door. Leslie (Front Desk Clerk) proceeded to tell him this is nice town nothing ever happens and she couldnt even afford to stay at this hotel. I went down to speak to her once my husband shared with me her comment, coming from the hotel side, this was not acceptable. I asked to speak to a Manager, there was no manager on duty she was it. Not exactly again the answer you are looking for from the staff. This did not resolve our problem and no action was taken on the hotel side for anyone from maintenance to check out the door. The housekeeping staff was nice, but the room was a bit dirty, especially in the light above the shower there was a bug. We went out and bought sleeping bags to put on the beds we were taking any chances. The continental breakfast is ok. Pastry items were not fresh, it might have been just a off day, but we decided to go out for breakfast instead.I realize there are not a lot of choices in this small town, but moving forward I will ensure I make my reservations far enough in advance at the Colgate Inn. I personally do not need anything fancy at all just a place to lay my head, but I do expect that hotel to be safe and clean and the staff to be somewhat friendly and accommodating.
A very nice place if you need to stay near Syracuse for a night ir even for a week, since they have a kitchen in the room. Everything is spacious and comfortable. The staff is super kind and helpful and will do their best to accommodate. Has all the amenities: gym, laundry... totally recomendable!
One of the few places to stay in the area that isnt a BnB. Its located close enough to the university for convenience so long as what is across the road doesnt bother you. Its certainly quiet. The rooms were fine though a bit dated. WiFi was acceptable, TV was disappointing. As an overnight guest, check-in and check-out were fine.
Horrible hotel, booked a room with a cot, no cot my eldery cousin is sleeping on the floor. When you look online they show 4 room types all with either recliners or sofa beds this room had nothing. The front desk girl was no help and the owner hides. Horrible, stay in the b&b worst service and probably very unsanitary because they obviously dont care.
Stay away I stayed there months ago will never go back. The owner is a money hungy jerk a minor error with the credit card and he trys to call the police I emeditly corrected the problem but its over priced and then rudeness . Go to the motor lodge in madison way more bang for ur buck and nice people

2016-09-05The hotel stay was as expected. It is a basic room with two queen beds. The mattresses and sheets are just fine. There is no fridge or coffee pot in the rooms. Breakfast is a regular continental with bagels, donuts and granola bars with juices and coffee to drink. The room smelled a little weird when we went in so we opens the window immediately. The AC worked great and the water pressure was also great. The towels could have used an extra go through the dryer also but they were clean and was given extra as soon as we asked for them. Overall if you are looking for a budget stay this is a good option.

2016-08-09The furnishings look a little generic but everything was very clean, the room was a decent size and the bed was fine (mattress was a little hard for my liking, but thats personal taste). No outlets near the bed (sigh). A basic but free continental breakfast is included in the price. Theres no pool or gym that I could see but, as an overnight stay for a quick business trip, it met my modest needs. Id look for something else if this was a weekend getaway or a family trip.

2018-03-25Very close to Colgate. Room was spacious, bed comfy. There was a bit of ambient noise from neighbors, but nothing late so I slept just fine. Hot water went out and staff were kind enough to give each of us a complimentary second room on the side with hot water. Enjoyed our stay

2017-03-07Stayed here a litttle while back. Rooms were very clean, the staff were very accommodating and pleasant to be around. Its a motel not a hotel and with that being said everything is straight to the point, nice and simple. Its in the country so the scenery is nice flat land. Breakfast is decent and its walking distance to a restaurant and stores. Overall great place to stay, great atmosphere. I would recommend this inn.

2018-10-20It works. Not worth it considering I could go to a hotel like the Hyatt for the same price, but it works. Simple rooms, if you expect clean rooms then youve come to the wrong place. The main positive is the beds. They are comfortable, and not terribly unclean.

2019-07-22My husband and I just stayed here for a wedding. We checked in changed quickly and headed to the venue we returned late that night. When I went to get into the bed I felt something on my feet. I pulled the blankets back and found a mans watch IN THE BED! It was to late to go to the desk so I stripped the bed and slept with a blanket we had in the car. I assumed the bed had not been properly cleaned since I found someone else’s belongings in the bed... my husband told the lady at the desk when we checked out. She laughed apologized and said it would be a good story for us to tell... but to say it was a Rolex to make it more interesting... I didn’t find it funny but husband being a gentlemen laughed with her. I assumed she would offer a discount on our room since who wants to stay in a room that is obviously not checked throughly. Nope she just asked us if we wanted a printed copy of our receipt. That’s not how I would handled the situation my husband was just to nice to press the issue. She here I am telling my great story about the Rolex I found in my hotel bed...

2015-10-27Our stay was great. We got to the hotel around 10:30 pm and the parking lot was full. We didnt think a room might be available. We called ahead to see if they had rooms and the receptionist may not have known what rooms she had available but she knew they had some rooms left. The room was amazing. It is the most spacious hotel room we have stayed in. The continental breakfast could be better. But there were several little restaurants in the nearby towns. Suzis place in Bouckville was great maybe 15 minutes away from the hotel. It was recommended by friends. The overall stay was great. Love Molly the trolley out front.

2017-10-23The staff at this hotel is beyond horrible. The woman at the front desk was rude all 4 times we spoke to her, a cleaning woman literally cursed when we asked where the ice machine was. The breakfast was the perfect disappointment to a horrible visit as well. Youll be offered a days old pastry and warm cream cheese. Would never stay here again.

2017-04-24The room was clean and accommodating. The location itself is fairly far from the University and village so if you plan on walking to and from the village to the hotel you will be in trouble. Their reservation system is outdated and requires you to call the front desk and give your credit card number by phone - they do not have a secure online reservation system or partnerships with third party providers like Expedia.
