West Farms Hotel in Bronx
Positive: Nothing. Negative: Disgusting!!! Dirty!!! Nasty!!! Holes on the walls, mattress with blood stains, dirty walls, dirty pillows, dirty fridge, dirty bathroom sink. Never in my life booking a room in that hotel again!!! So disappointed!!The reception did not have a CC machine.
This Hotel is mostly Shelter than a Tourist Hotel, its disgusting, nasty, smell very bad to cigarette and marijuana in the hall and rooms. This Hotel is for Homeless, many homeless people go in and out all day and night, we couldnt sleep 2 nights because many people in the other rooms was making noise in party. The bed is dirty and nasty, very old, many holes on the walls, no service room cleaner. Its too expensive for a disgusting place!!!😡😡🤮🤮🤮🤮 For that reason I jumped out to Hotel.
If I could give this place 0 starts I would. The room was aboslutely disgusting!!!! The wall, bed, shower and bathroom was filthy. The tv didn’t work. They didn’t even give us blankets. Then the people in the room next to us were blaring music all night and we told the staff because our 2 year old couldn’t even sleep and they did nothing about it. The guy made up some bull story saying the credit card machine was broke so we would pay cash. They are greedy and just out to make money. I would NEVER stay here again. We booked 2 nights and lost out on 180$ because we left early and they wouldn’t refund us. They were also very rude.
Price is ok for last minute and rooms looked halfway decent for being in Bronx. But boy once we searched and checked it was gross and whoever is housekeeping there should be fired ! Again last minute place to stay ok but I wouldnt even. But manager was very helpful and apologized and refunded our money because we werent even there for 15mins.
It was a poor terrible hotel me and my family went for one night and spent $179 for a night and we didn’t even stay we seen stains all over the bed and the walls looked like someone pee’d on the wall and no heat terrible service bed sheets all over the floor nowhere near the laundry room all the way upstairs would never go again
West Farms Hotel was an expensive alternative to a night in my apt where the rent had already been paid. The hotel was also the place offering a safe alternative to the madness and chaos at home where the rent had already been paid.I liked the large hotel room. Spacious and accomodating.I only wished there was time enough for a room change from street level facing the traffic passing through Boston Road.
I came here Tuesday night, everything was great. The price was good $110,the rooms are huge and comes with a microwave and mini fridge.second night I stayed again.third night today;September 23,2020 I’m currently awaiting in the lobby along with all of my bags because I saw a MOUSE on top of the tv.The gentleman at the front attempted to make a call and then asked me if I booked online.when I told him that I’ve been paying cash he hung up the phone and told me there’s nothing that he can do.He gave me the option to change my room or leave (not in a rude way)he said no refunds .I will never ever come here again
I was so disappointed. The room was empty. Tv wasn’t working and the toilet was barely working too. The most uncomfortable place I’ve ever been to. This is my first time reviewing anything online so yeah it was actually that bad. I promise you, you don’t wanna be here.
Anybody that posts over 2 stars has been paid off. This is a smack hotel. I had 3 nights booked, but left after 2 hours the first night since there were no sheets blankets or pillows amongst other stuff. Refund was never given. I have lived in a car for 2 months and let me tell you this place is really gnarly. Avoid at all costs. Youre better off sleeping in a train tunnel.
Be careful here my wife wanted to rest here and wont take credit card for 60 USD ONLY OVER for 3 hour only 100 USD or higher will they take your crediti saw couple use their credit card and the n they say it dose not work the next minute this third hotel that does this i just walk away from this place so if you used cash all good
Worst Experience ever. This hotel does not in any way provide what is advertised. The room conditions are horrible. Actually, horrible is an understatement. We were told we could only pay in cash, which we did thinking we would get what the company advertises on their website. We get to the first room and it was a complete health hazard. The outlets we not covered properly and there was no smoke or CO2 detector. The sheets were stained terribly and the bath tub had not been cleaned. We went to the desk and told the gentleman we just looked at the room and wanted our money back. He claimed he could not refund us because he had already put the transaction through. He offered to upgrade our room. We get to the second room and its no better. We get to the second room which was on the ground floor and the television was still on. We found that strange and upon further inspection the sheets were clearly not clean and some one had just left the room. Spackling(?) was spread around the outlets. Then when we thought it could not get any worse we heard a man start screaming and moaning. So, I said, enough is enough we need to leave. While doing so a pedestrian DROPPED DEAD out front. Literally died on the side walk in front of the door. The staff did nothing and flocked to the front door and windows to gawk at this guy laying on the sidewalk in the rain. Terrible, terrible place with even worse staff. They should be ashamed of their false advertisement and so called amenities that they provide. I would give zero stars if I could.
They are very rude and greedy for short stays. They whisper to get and make deals under the table. They won’t honor the websites that take their reservations. They lied 🤥 multiple time and told me leave each time I asked why are they letting some people stay and not others. Please don’t waist your time with these corrupt heartless individuals. It’s just a place for people to have sex. 0 stars
Customer service is great they help me when I was in a bind so theyre really good at that trying to satisfy and fix solutions but the hotel rooms are not good at all I had to buy my own bug spray I didnt get a blanket I had to request for it etc etc and it has mold in the bathroom behind the door
Room floor was so dirty my son socks turned black had to throw them away. Tub was dirty was metioned to staff and nothing was done. Remote didnt work for the tv. The room wasnt even supplied with pillow cases towels etc. The toilet looked as if it wasnt even cleaned. Wouldnt recommend it.
My wife and I booked this room for one night, we travel to NY all the time but this time we needed to stay in the Bronx. The picture online looked decent but when we arrived the lobby reeked of marijuana, the front desk person was rude, hardly spoke. We got the room which there was no elevator , had to log our suitcases up the stairs. Got to the room, and the room was super large but bathroom super small. TV looks like it was a 15inch size. The bed sheets look old and grimy. The train running constantly was extremely noisy. We literally was in there for 7 minutes. Went back downstairs and checked out, made reservations elsewhere. We asked for a receipt to prove that we did not stay. Front desk claimed they cant do the refund and only mgmt can. We called Monday morning, no mgr, called Tuesday mgr hung up the phone in our faces, we called back and she Linda said she would refund our $187.00. Its been 10 days still havent gotten our money back. Please do not, do not I repeat do not stay or book with this Hotel, it is HORRIBLE!
Reserved a room last minute and I kid you not it was one of the worst hotels I’ve ever stayed in. The room was so depressing, there was no bed sheet on the bed just a flat sheet, after hours of trying to get in contact with someone at the front desk I finally got a room changed, then they tried to charge me for the room change, the furniture was broken, the shower head was falling off and held together by some cheap glue. Staff was very unprofessional got woken up at like 3am to some guests screaming in the hallway. I was booked for a week; left the next day. Don’t even bother.
I took a red eye flight and arrived at 8 AM. I was allowed to drop my luggage, and while check in is 2 PM, I was told there would probably be a room around noon.I was quite tired and returned at 10 and planned to just hang out in the lobby. Great effort was put into getting me into a room. Its not the most up-to-date hotel, but its very clean, smells good, and appears to be in the process of updating.Great value for the price, and the service is great!!!
Stayed for one night in September and we had a great night sleep! The train is right outside the main door but the noise really didnt bother us. The front desk workers were all very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very good. Located just a short walk from the Bronx zoo and it was wonderful! The hallways do smell of something but the room was very clean and did not smell at all.
First off their vending machines were broken and yet they kept allowing people to use it and lose their money instead of putting an out of order sign. Than we went to use the microwave and the power went out. We had to be switched to another room which was nice and bigger than the one we had. I know it was snowing but they could have put salt or something on the steps since we kept falling. In the morning their breakfast was frozen uncooked powered eggs. The only thing they had were plain bagels. When I than went to make coffee from our room the pot was so stained and nasty that I called for them to make me a nice cup since we couldnt use the pot in our room to make coffee. I was told that breakfast was closed and I had to go out and get my own. This was the worst hotel I have ever stayed at. I would never recommend anyone to this place ever.
If I could give this hotel 0 stars, I would. Got a room over night for 175$. When I got in the room there was no remote for the TV. The refrigerator did not work. I had to ask for blankets and pillows. No toothpaste or toothbrushes in the room we had to walk to the front desk to get them. No Ice buckets. No plastic cups. HEAT DID NOT WORK! I was freezing. Guys, the free breakfast stuff is a joke! 😭 I woke up at 9:45AM for breakfast and they told me “ Sorry breakfast is from (6am-9am) Like wait what? LOL I will NEVER STAY HERE AGAIN. Better off getting something at Groupon ladies and gents. I give this hotel -0 stars. If you stay at this hotel you disrespecting yourself at this point.
Sorry reviewed wrong one -ignore review-I only stayed here over night and I was very disappointed with the lack of cleanliness of this hotel. I’m not expecting 5 star rooms but I felt like I was staying in a cheap motel. The manager, Judy was very nice and super accommodating. But I highly recommend to this hotel to make some upgrades. Sheets are “cleaned” but stained, and when we asked for them to be changed, house keeping mentioned that they don’t get new linens for the hotel. Also, the entire hotel smelled of wet carpet. I guess they were renovating some rooms but the workers were smoking because the entire second floor smelled like cigarettes. There was literally dust every where, I can tell that house keeping hadn’t vacummeed in months! Moldy wall paper and WiFi didn’t work.
Did my research before booking a hotel. Definitely just like many of the reviews stated.Smelled extremely strong of marijuana the moment you step through the door. Smoking or non smoking room alike, you can smell it through the entire hotel. I booked a non smoking room (upstairs) and was at the end of the hall. The room was clean, props to the cleaning crew. They parked my car (and returned it without any bumps or bruises from the NY traffic). There were no towels in the room, at all, and when requested after someone came to check how our stay was, they told us we would have to go speak with someone downstairs about it.The bathroom sink was jimmy rigged with a board underneath it to make it straight. While the shower worked, there were no towels. The fridge also did not seem to work sufficiently. They do have a breakfast room, which includes free breakfast. I did not bother to touch the eggs, but the toast, muffins and orange juice were all very enjoyable (the milk seemed very fresh, though the orange juice poured out like water from the machine because it hadnt been touched in a while).Overall the price wasnt terrible for the stay, and it you can get past the smell of marijuana and the sound of the train (which didnt bother me at all) then it seems like a good enough spot to stay. Its within a block of the train station, which was a big plus.
You get what you pay for. However, other hotels running approximately by the same price are much better than Howard Johnson. Not clean, floors were dirty, bathroom tub floor dirty, furniture was dusty, and there were no regular sized shower towels—they were really small. Bed also had no quilt, just the white cover sheet, and a warm small blanket was provided. Tv? Didn’t work. Only one channel works which is the one that is on as soon as you turn it on. I was very displeased...Choose a different hotel if you’re a clean freak like me!
The bedroom was clean, with nice hardwood floors and the staff was very friendly and helpful. However there was no comforter on either of the two beds, some leftover garbage in the bathroom from the previous guests, and the towels were small and few in number. They do have on site parking though.
My stay here was absolutely horrendous! Not only was my car hit in the parking lot behind the hotel the hotel room was extremely dirty! There was mold in the bathroom missing drywall in the bathroom! Carpet was dirty! The AC was kicking out dirty humid air! I would never ever in my life ever stay here again!!!
I would have granted 4 stars but...Great staff except for Valet Parking: one of the 2 drivers who drove my car to and back from the parking area stole a 102.00 CA$ Perfume bottle bought at the duty-free while entering the USA. It was in the trunk and in a plastic bag. So the thief did open the trunk without a good reason but obviously to look for something of value which of course he helped himself to. So be very AWARE: DO NOT LEAVE ANYTHING OF VALUE in your car even in the trunk. Of course I called the management of the hotel and they, of course, decline responsibility and told us that the Valet Management would call. As of now (more than 3 hours after my initial call) no one has returned my call. BEWARE: Dishonest people are everywhere. But besides that bad experience, the hotel room and corridors were very clean. Of course, on the street side, it is a bit noisy even with the windows closed due to the aerial train circulating above but once asleep, it is somewhat acceptable. Two suggestions to the management: a 4th pillow would be nice; and thicker and bigger bath towels would be appreciated.
Its the best worest hotel I stayed in.This hotel doesnt have name board outside. When we booked hotel it was showing Howard Johnson but its not that.It owned by private owner. The entrance smell like people take weed there since like 30 years. When we entered into room there was no comforter. But the maintenance guy was good he gave us whatever we asked.Next morning we left room at 10 pm and retuned around 5 pm. Room is dirty and no one cleaned that room. When I went to talk with front desk he just straight said lie on my face that maintenance guy said that someone from inside said no room service needed while we were not at room how someone said that.Next day same thing. That day the guy in the front desk name AHSAN was misbehaving with me badly and didnt send any one to clean room afterwards. He was telling me dont teach me what to do and I know what I need to doDont stay in this hotel untilessu you want to spend couple hour.
While the decor is chic, its not what I would expect from a HoJo hotel. The toilet didnt flush, brought it to the attention of the manager who said hed fix it right away. Still no flushing the toilet on the third day. Very loud hotel, not just the train, which honestly doesnt bother me, but everybody at this hotel is constantly obnoxiously loud.Accidentally dropped my wet wipe on the bathroom floor; decided to clean said floor, wet wipe turned BLACK from the dirty floors!
My husband and i checked into the hotel with my husband service dog tonight. We were asked after getting to our room to provide documentation proving our dog was certified. We did not travel with paperwork because it is against federal laws to require documentation. You can ask if the the dog is a service dog and what his service is and we provided that information without even being asked at the desk. We were forced to leave the hotel and have already been charged for two nights. My husband who is a wounded warrior and a combat veteran who was injured in the Middle East was kicked out of this hotel illegally. We were told to call in the morning and ask the manager Linda for a refund. The treatment of my husband is absolutely ridiculous besides the fact that it is illegal. If a man who served his country can be treated so badly for having a dog that’s gone through over a year of training to be his service dog.... what is this world coming to. Absolutely ridiculous.
The worst hotel ever. They advertised Internet but dont be decieved, it is no Internet. I cannot even open my email not to talk of browsing. No TV remote control. Took the front desk two hrs to address this. The sofa in the room is all nails poking through the leather, thank God I did not hurt myself while trying to sit for the first timeIf you want a restful place , dont try this place as the train tracks make it difficult to sleep.Torn sheets on bed, two tiny towels. U have to.press hard on the toilet to flush. This place is a waste of money.
I wish i could give this hotel ZERO stars. this was the WORST hotel ive ever stay in. i chose this hotel because i am from the bronx and i only needed it for the night. The WORST DECISION OF MY LIFE. Lets start with the parking. Which was located down the smallest driveway ever. and only had 6 small parking spots. so somebody car is bound to get hit. there was no access to the hotel from the parking lot which means had to walk u the steepest driveway, mind you i have a torn ligament in my knee.. so i was in pain. I went to get my room, the front desk guy was super rude and demanded that i pay in cash and not on my card. at this time there was a man screaming about not having his room cleaned since 8 am. we get to our room ( no elevator & had to walk up steps) the hallway was old and run down i felt like i was walking thru an asylum. The room was horrible. We got two funky pillows that were more like pillows for infants because they were so small. Two of the outlets in the bathroom were coming out of the wall (fire Hazard) our wash rags were not cleaned.. our towels were big enough to use for a child not a grown adult. the bed didnt even have fitted sheets. it had to cover sheets and a super thin blanket i paid $207 and had the worse experience of my life. Never found the free breakfast that was advertised. When my boyfriend checked us out i told him to get a receipt for the room. When i finally made it home to Maryland i notice that on the receipt the room was $140 in cash.. so please explain to me what happened to the other $67?? i want my money back..
This place is awful. I slept here twice in the past month and the first time I kept hearing something rattling around and it was a mouse that kept me up for hours... I had to leave the garbage outside of the door until I saw it run out. Thats when I put a towel across the bottom of the door, hoping it would stay out. Now, for the second time. I was laying on the bed and I felt something tickle my leg and crawl up as I jumped to see. It was a huge water bug. Disgusting. Please do not waste your money and time.
The worse hotel experience Ive ever had. Security is also the valet driver, who parks your car two blocks away. The room was filthy with an almost 2 inch gap under the door, so no privacy. A blunt was left under a table in clear view, so I know the cleaning person did not do their job. The location sucks because the train shakes your room each time it passes, and I was kn the 1st floor, cant imagine how it must sound and feel on the 3rd floor. I would continue, however Im just glad the experience is over and would like to warn others to stay away.
Would not recommend for people with children not very clean. Hotel suitable for night time hook up. Checked in at 3pm didnt get towels and rags until after 11 pm, sheets were dirty did not fit the bed. No comforter on beds, shower was dirty. Staff not friendly or accommodating at all !!! Strongly do not recommend
Holes in structure that’s covered with curtains, toilet seat looked disgusting (wouldn’t even sit on it) and a mouse entered my room because there’s about a half inch gap between the door and floor. I would NEVER recommend anyone spend money here. Unfortunately I didn’t take any pictures but I can assure you I’ll never be back. Stay wherever you’re at or else you’ll be feeling like you’re in a trap house with painted walls. You guys should be ashamed for suggesting $115 dollars for one night.
Worst experience ever, first and last time. There was arguments in the hall and in rooms adjacent going on since 9pm all the way till 330am banging walls banging doors even woman screaming as is she was getting beat up the hotel staff acted like that wasent any of their problems is a very small place there was no way the person working couldn’t have seen or heard the ruckus being made or seen it in the cámaras. And don’t even talk about the train which runs every 5-10mins if you are able to sleep under those conditions you deserve a prize. Bed sheets looked dirty and same thing with the pillows. Walked in the room that was supposedly “non-smoking” and it smelled like weed and cigarettes they had left the window open I mean, bathrooms are nasty honestly it felt like a very cheap roadside motel
This hotel was absolutely horrendous! The mattresses were staying the old and worn, the floors were buckling and bubbling, there was makeup on the wall, they left the old wall mount for sharp edges on the wall which you can possibly cut yourself on, bathroom and wall had missing drywall, shower had mold all in the corners of the upper part of the shower, drop ceiling had mold, AC unit was pumping out dirty air, And car was hit while in their private parking lot, spoke to the people at the front desk and the guy tried to act like he was just new Left my information never received the call called back spoke to the person that was supposed to be the manager but said he wasnt took my information and nobody ever called me back! This place should be condemned and tore down! Was the worst experience ever and I was born and raised in the South Bronx!
Not worth 1 star. This place never had new towels so had to request them daily. They didnt cover the mattress entirely with sheets on our last night so I requested extra sheets to make the bed myself. The extra door lock was broken. Also had a briken phone in the room. As we checked out they were giving out an hourly rate.
The room key did not work. We went to the front desk twice for help. They used a machine to unlock the door. The television was on, the bed has no blanket and two pillows were propped together on one side. There was a used towel hanging on the shower stall and the mirror had handprints on it. The train outside the room was drowned out by the heater. The staff was friendly but I would not recommend this hotel.
The surrounding area might need work, but the interior is really good. Well kept extra large rooms seem comfy and expansive at the same time. Breakfast is what you can expect but free. The exercise room is nothing special but does the job. Theres a major train close by perfect for entering the inner city. And restaurants that deliver have amazing food, especially Chinese. All this is well worth the price of a room.
The reviews I read indicated it was in a bad neighborhood. I would say the neighborhood was a bit run down but not violent. You get what you pay for, and I paid 100 to stay in a hotel in New York, on a budget. The air conditioning worked so/so, there wasnt a blanket on the bed but more of a bed cover so it got cold at night, and we also didnt have bath towels in the bathroom. We had to ask twice for them as the first time we only received one, we had to explain a second time....that two people would probably need two towels. Yes it is noisey and right next to the subway. I didnt mind that, but I could see it bothering some. The breakfast is pretty much just cereal, cause the bread was stale...with no toaster and the apples were pretty old and mealy. This is the hotel of Bring your own: towels, blanket, and food. It wasnt bad, but it also wasnt good.
A friend ,and I booked a room here ,when we get in the room there was no cable believe me that was the least of our problems we had No HEAT !! When we told front desk they pretty much mumbled at us and then left the room stateing that they had no other rooms to give us when my friend asked for discount for cold no cable having room we was told no had the cold and I mean ice cold eggs, and sausage for breakfeast the COFFEE was hot trust me dont waist your time here book some where else with better service and warm Room!!!
The room smelled of urine and smoke. the carpet was disgusting and dirty. the bathroom was very undesirable and their dirty yellow bed covers had cigarette holes in them. the noise from the train kept me and my infant daughter up. the neighborhood is unsafe and their breakfast bar was subpar and adequate up of reusable old muffins and bagels. I will never stay at this fake low budget Howard Johnson ever again. it was a waste of $700. for 5 night
DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL!!! This is the worst place I’ve ever been in my life! I wanted to visit NYC for my birthday and my husband decided to book a night at this hotel. The service is horrible, the entire building stinks and the rooms are disgusting! Our night was so horrible that we couldn’t sleep at all, there was a fight and even the police was involved. I DONT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYBODY!
Dead waterbug in my room to start. The room was infested with mold and mildew. Wall paper lifting off the walls in all directions. Mold under the wall paper. Gum stuck to the carpet that was filthy covered in dirt and look like it hadnt been vacuumed in months. Phone in room non operational. Dirty linen. Beat up rickety garage sale furniture.free Wifi not in service. Bathroom toilet didnt flush. It was so horrendous I wouldnt let my 4 month old out of the stroller. Never have I ever in all my years of the hospitality industry(2007) have I ever seen anything so shameful. The Ramada is the same price and 1000 times better. This establishment should be shut down
The worst experience in my life. 5pm the next day and my room was still not cleaned. The hotel staff refused to issue any adjustments on my $350 2 day stay. There was a mouse on their 3rd floor and chicken bones on the staircase. Unfortunately choosing Howard Johnson because of the nation wide name was a really bad idea.
Nasty like hell, disrespectful, and even careless crew.I dont have words to describe it.The city must do something about this place. It is a bordelerie, people come with hores, you hear the noise from everywhere and all night and day long.Smoke come into your room. The crew cannot make sure that rooms are cleanned. They did not cange my towels or blanket for 2 days.I was stoned by the front desk answer when i asked him the why.He said we are almost giving a free labor to the hotel owner so this is the price people pay here.
HORRIBLE!!!! DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!!! If its not the winter season, youd be better sleeping outside! Hair in every room (bed, floor, bathroom sink AND shower, lamp, and inside the refrigerator) floors were dirty with ashes everywhere. Sheets had stains and cover was flimsy with burn holes throughout it😫...there were no washcloths or towels in the room....Toilet was dirty with ashes still in it, toilet paper roll was 1/2 way used up..... I reserved a non smoking room ONLY to get there and be told that all non smoking rooms were SOLD OUT!
I stayed for a night on 4/1/19. Thats the last time I ever stay there. Carmen (the head housekeeper) thought that it was ok to knock on the door not once, but twice with in a 5 minute span. Both times was to tell me that check out time was approaching. I found this quite irritating and felt like I was being harassed. I was even willing to overlook the marijuana smell throughout the Halls. But after my experience with Carmen... Never again!!!
This is the worst place in all my years I have ever been to. I visited 2 times. The first time people were fighting and yelling every hour threw out the night. I got no sleep. A year later I returned hoping things wouldve changed. Nope, boy I was wrong. When I was there, the cops were called because some women got beat up by her boyfriend. Later that night the guy working there parking cars was up banging on everyones doors to let him in to use the bathroom at 1 am. He came back 2 hours later banging and yelling to let him in. On top of it all people where fighting and smoking like crazy all night. I will never go back again. Please dont bring your children there. Its a cracked up hotel. There were a lot more issues that happened that night and Im sure every night. This place needs to be closed down.
Room wasnt clean, towels were disgusting... Blood stains, yellow stains..etc. If you are gonna go there for a quick nut you better off going to a days inn. Thats how bad the hotel is. Me and my friend stayed there for 4 nights and check in time is absurd, we got there at 8 am and we couldnt check in at that time even if we paid extra. We had to kill time until 2 and they tried overcharging me and my friends card because they insinuated me and her were lying about paying after we showed them our statement. I honestly shouldnt even rate this hotel, the fact they kept asking to see our statement and constantly calling our room to see the statement and for us constantly having to ask for toilet paper and towels even though the towels were disgusting... Then I shouldnt rate. The only good thing was that the train was just a 2 min walk or less, Deli, McDonalds. Besides that something that Im forgetting is: Fridge was disgusting, EVERYTIME you opened it; there was a bad odor that stank the whole room. Toilet didnt flush, roaches, mices.. It was expensive for 4 nights, me and my friend shouldve walked out or cancel the extra nights and go stay at a hostel or somewhere else. Just go somewhere else for those wanting to stay here.PS: I can remove this review if I get at least a refund. I have videos and pictures of that hotel and how the guy kept saying me and my friend were lying about paying. I have 100k followers on my Twitter and Instagram and have no shame about posting it on my Facebook.
If its two adults, one teen and a toddler, you must pay for 2 rooms. Dont waste youre time. HJ is dirty, reception is incredibly rude, the place reeks of smoke and cheap air freshener that doesnt do jack. We were tired and spent another 2 hours looking for someplace else where we were accommodated much faster. The man at reception used racial slurs and I could NEVER give money to a business who employs people like that.
Room that i was assigned to was not cleaned properly. Bed sheats burned up with cigarettes or who knows what. Asked the gemtalmen at the service desk to have the bed sheets replaced and the bathroom cleaned again since it had cigarette buds on the floor. To come and find the room in the same conditions as when i cheked in at 4pm not satisfied and for the high price its not worth the headach.
If I could give this place negative stars I would in a heartbeat. Lets just start off by saying I was given a half a room. There room was poorly maintenced, AC was busted, shoot our room didnt even have a room number in the front of the door! Ive been to a Howard and Johnson before, but I have never stayed in a motel as bad as this. Serious things to improve! Dont even get me started with the professional so called employee that attended me since I got here. The guy seemed like he didnt care about how my experience was with them, which I find completely unacceptable and this has to get elevated to their corporate office for sure.
This place sucked so much. The floor was dirty as hell. Looks like it hadnt been sweated in for ever. There was dust. The bathroom wasnt clean at all. There was hair in the shower, the toilet was awful. Im scared to even sleep on the bed. They dont clean these rooms at all. Dont stay here. I primise you. You will hate it. Also theres a damn train right next to us
The Howard Johnson express inn staff was very kind and helpful, but the service was very poor, nothing worked. The bed spring popped loose when I sat down on it (for the first time), the tv kept shutting off on its own, the WiFi was barely working and there were a few stains on the bed sheets. But, if you were staying for at least two nights, then Howard Johnson’s would be fine.
This hotel or hostel is very cheap and has good location. Thats it with positive things. The rooms are being used by people with questionable hygiene habits. The smell is... please, read the reviews above. The receptionist tried to chose nice room for me, but... there were no nice room. The staff is doing it best but most but .. this hotel need complete renovation and new furnitures.
Agree with one of the reviews, EXTREME BED BUGS. I call them SUPER MITES!!! Had to go to the hospital because my forearm and ankle swelled to the point of infection from two mite bites. Even found the bug in the bed and brought it down to the front desk.... manager still has not called me back to explain or apologize. Had to fight teeth and nail for a refund and they only gave my credit for one night. Too close to the 2 train outside for any restful sleep, NEVER going there again!
You get what you pay for. Heres a list summarizing our experience: - Friendly reception - Entire hotel smells like weed and/or cigarettes - Bed sheets and pillows had small stains - Bathroom is suuuuper small - Bathroom sink was leaking - No soap or towels, had to go to reception to request - Wifi non-functional - Breakfast bar: carcinogenic tasting apple and orange juices, frozen eggs (which tasted horrible after being microwaved) There may be more things Im forgetting, but this is a thorough list of the things I remember made staying at Howard Johnson Express memorable (not in a good way, obviously)
Sept 4th-5th 2016 I wish I would have done some research before i Booked. This place was Horrible. I would advise anyone to stay away from here. The room was stink of old cigarette smell. The bathroom had holes all over the wall. This place Reminds me of a hourly rental place where Women of the night would bring a JOHN. STAY AWAY. Also they charged my CC twice. HOWARD JOHNSON FRANCHISE NEEDS TO GET THEIR NAME OFF THIS BUILDING>>>>>>
Hotel was not satisfying. They only had 1 pillow on the king size bed, small towels, and no trash can in the room. We requested to get another pillow, but it made no difference for how small it was. The only good thing about the hotel is the location and fact that they have smoking rooms.
Oh boy, if we had an option for NO stars or 0 stars, we would of selected it... As to my wife and I chose to visit the Bronx as one of our stops on our honeymoon, we stayed here for 3 days.. Now we generally take our own linen and pillows. .On day 1,07/13/18, we checked in approximately 1:45pm, we were making the bed we noticed torn, stained and ripped sheets. Not to mention drugs and drug parfenila, (crack) we immediately contacted sraff, they offered nothing at first, after 2 hours on the phone, Staff requested for us to A- change rooms, or B- checkout, Even though we already had reservations in the Bronx ( we should of left!) We went with option A-, we changed rooms.on day 2,-07/14/18, we enjoyed the day in Zoo, , upon returning we observed a short haired valet driver consuming alcoholic beverages in the lobby, between retrieving guests vehicles... Later on that evening/early morning we decide to go out, we had our vehicle brought to us by a male valet driver wearing a hat and glasses (later identified as Sal) When we returned, Sal, parked our vehicle at an off site location without our knowledge, On day 3-07/15/18, my wife and I, after a great day in NYC, decided to grab something to eat, as to the snacks in the vending machine were and probably are still expired ( The Doritos expired in June 2018 .) We returned and Sal brought the keys to us 45 minutes later.. The next time we saw our car it fashioned a nice new big dent on the driver fender panel. At this point it seemed like the staff got amnesia forgetting each others names, claiming that nobody knows anybody. NYPD, had to be contacted, causing our honeymoon to be inconvenienced another 4 hours, between phone calls to insurance companys and NYPD in efforts to resolve this.So needless to say a picture speaks louder than words, take a look for yourself below.Oh, and the building only has one iron, & ironing board without a cover, & No phonebookso glad we didnt stay any longer. ...
Ive stayed in bad motels before, but this place was the worst. The rugs were stained, the windows were so filthy, I couldnt see through them. The room had a horrible stench. And the front desk people just didnt have a clue, and yes like so many other reviews, were snobby, and visibly didnt care. If you want a place with 1 percent out of 100 pampering, DONT GO HERE!!! The so called continental breakfast was terrible. Stale breads, no fruits, or yogurt, and the juice wasnt even real. Im happy to say my wife brought breakfast supplies for our stay. Well you get what you pay for. The only good thing was that the hotel is 3 blocks from the Bronx Zoo, and a 2 minute drive from I 95. Otherwise this place is a filthy, horrible place. I will NEVER go back there, ever again, even if it were free. Even if they paid me to go, I wouldnt go. But dont just listen to me. Look at some of the other reviews. Even a former employee admits how bad it is. I should have listened to the other reviews and gone somewhere else.
This is the worst hotel i have ever stayed in. Could not sleep because of people arguing in the hall. It took the staff 2 hours to call the police. Vending machines where out of service the room was mediocre at best. Will not ever stay there again. The worst Howard Johnsons ever!!!!!!!!!!
Terrible place to stay they have prostitutes outside and roaming the hotel at night.. I had to go to the Doctor because they have Bed Bugs and had bites on my legs I had to throw my luggage and cloths away because they were infested and did not want to have my home infested. Also there was a Rodent problem where you would see Rats in the hallway and outside at night. I cannot forget the Cockroaches they were huge and i could of sworn one of them hissed at me in the bathroom. Would not stay there again even for free.
Rough housekeeper, poor breakfast, very noisy the train could not sleep , the parking lot in the back of the building you have to leave the car key in the car to be moved the next day to another site exposed to steal the car, is not what you see online, the bathrooms with hairs in the sink and the shower, very bad experience for me and three more that came from florida. I do not recommend it even if its the only one open there. I only stayed 30 minutes and I went to another hotel and above they wanted to charge you for one night, for staying 30 minutes? I give it 0 stars.
AVOID THIS HOTEL AT ALL COSTS!If youre looking for a dirty, run down, roach and rat infested dump that wreaks of cigarettes and weed to lay your head, look no further than the Howard Johnson on Boston Road.Youll be greeted in the lobby by an attendant behind a bulletproof window who is unkind, unhelpful, rude, arrogant, smug, lazy and unpolished. The lobby boasts prostitutes, addicts and creeps. The hotel has trash on the floor, which attract mice, rats and bugs, outdated furnishings, cracks in the walls and ceilings and a linoleum floor that looks like it hasnt been mopped since Dinkins was in office [thats 1993 for those that dont get the joke].We read the bad reviews and still decided to book a two queen bed at this disgusting, sketchy, low budget hotel right next to an elevated train that shakes the hotel every 4-6 minutes. Upon arrival, we were given one King sized bed, then returned to the lobby and politely asked the man behind the bulletproof glassed counter to change it to 2 queens. Thinking, no big deal, mistakes happen. He said we need to call our agent and tell them, he cant change reservations. Why would any self-respecting agent refer their clients to this terrifying hellhole? We told him we booked direct through Howard Johnson and had our confirmation number. He asked to see the e-mail which we told him we never received. He then read off his screen an e-mail that the confirmation was sent to and the e-mail didnt exist. Cant make this stuff up. The wonderful and competent people at Howard Johnson made up a fake e-mail to send our confirmation to.While this was all going on, some scumbag john came in and asked what the hourly rate was. The man behind the counter looked unfazed and said Come back in 30 minutes. The guy went back outside and him and his lady friend who barely looked 18 and the two disappeared into the night. We ended up canceling the room and asking for a refund, where the man behind the counter smugly informed us he cant do that and we have to call Howard Johnson. If he cant change reservations or issue refunds, why is he even there? We left, cutting our vacation short thanks to the creeps at this establishment. It ruined our whole trip. If youre looking to stay in the Bronx at a hotel, stay at one of these fine establishments instead:Opera House HotelResidence InnRamada InnYou may pay a few more dollars but its worth it to save on the headache of dealing with the absolute worse customer service Ive ever experienced with the Howard Johnson Express Inn on Boston Road. Never again!Read this review, and book elsewhere. Learn from my mistake. This place is a dangerous drug den and prostitution spot and should be shut down by the city and not be in business. DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL!!!!!!
My stay here last night was horrible there were four rats in my room 305# the sheets on my bed broke my skin out terribly and I called last night guy said no rooms available to change, refund in the morning so I had to stay up all night worrying about if a rat were to crawl on me or not morning passed there was a new man on shift and he told me “ I should’ve called last night there’s nothing he can do about it “ i told him I did even showed him so I told him call his manager apparently he doesn’t know his managers number so i definitely advice you to look into other hotelsthis is not it !!!!!?
Was not happy with the service they gave me a smoking room when I do not smoke and was not able to move to another room. I was given an air freshener to kill the smell which did not work.I will not go back here again. The customer service sucked as well as house keeping.
Been there 2 times never seen any mice or bed begs, train is just steps away , Bronx zoo is very close, its not a bad area its just the Bronx, staff wasnt snobby at least to me they werent. Only negative thing I would say is that they need to buy new bed sheets because they have cigarette burns.
The dirtiest room in the entire bronx, I’d rather sleep on the train, there was dried up period blood on the mattress that they tried masquerading with a white sheet. The Tv Signal doesn’t work at all and they wont even lessen the price because of it. Save yourselves please.
If u just want a 3hr room is $60 not bad a night $120 I done a 3hr and I had to go down stairs below the main floor it looks like a basement with 6 to 7rooms scary the rooms are pretty big but the walls are thin you can here the peopel from the next room they do valet parking then he will go to return the keys back so dont start anything yet until then so not bad if u just going to use the rooms for 3hr for 😉😉.... THE BAD ( NEED TO CLEAN THE BED SHEETS )
Location close to train station..but next to projects (sketchy) rooms have newer furniture and are clean but keys demagnitize daily, bathroom wasnt in great condition.. had to ask for towels because they gave us one when we checked in and next day gave us only little towels
I have been there 4 different times and each of those times, there were no vacancies. I dont see alot of people there or cars parked in their lot so I guess they are selective as who they want there. I go less than 1/4 mile away to Best Western on the Sheridan Expy. and never have problems there. Staff at this Hojo can be abrasive at times regarding the no vacancy. Neighborhood is not so pleasant either.
This was the worst experience ever staying in to a hotel,i travelled from Florida wanted somewhere to stay so I googled hotel near where I was it brought me to this one, bouy oh bouy I should have ran.The first thing when I arrived at the guest check in the gentleman asked me if I wanted to rent for 3hours I was like oh,got into a room was the nastiest place I have ever seen the floors where not swept the garbage can had a clear trash liner in it and I could see the dirt still in the can,the toilet could not flush and I call the front desk and he said the house keeper will be there soon, she didnt come, the place smell like old wet dirty clothes, the bath was unusable is like they never heard about bleach, it was black dirty like it had never been clean and had mold and this was two weeks ago and I still am having chills,me and my husband tried to get a refund and we could not,so we decided to either leave or stay there in a scary movie for a night,we left and booked in to a Hampton inn where we enjoyed our vacation comfortable and peaceful.I would never recommend some one from out of town to stay here at all horrible I lost my $101 that I paid,i dont think it is even worth $10 a night.please clean up the hotel.
Horrible costumer service on the phone. I called and didnt even get to speak, right after I said good afternoon, the guy said something I didnt even underdtand and hung up on me. I called again and the same thing again. The third time I asked for a supervisor and he said there is no supervisor, if you wanna talk you talk to me I said but you keep hanging up on me before I even get to say hi and he started yelling at me telling me because he has costumers in front of him and I should respect that or do I not know English. I said wooaaaah!!!! And he hung up on me again. NEVER HAVE I EXPERINECED SUCH DISRESPECT FROM A SERVICE.
They were very nice and allowed me to charge my phone and actually allowed me to stay in their Lobby however but I will tell you is that theyre on the first floor people are doing grown adult things and it is very loud at times so if you are coming in there with your family please make sure to put ear muffs on your children other than that the location is pretty good and the staff is very nice
DISGUSTING ROOM WITH TORN/BURNED SHEETS. HUGE COCKROACH IN THE BATHROOM RUNNING AROUND AND FOOD ALL INSIDE THE AC UNIT. THE LOBBY SMELLED SO BAD OF WEED I HAD A HEADACHE. THE SINK WAS HELD UP WITH 1x WOOD AND THE WINDOWS HAVE NO LATCH ON THE SECOND FLOOR. TRIED TO CHARGE IS FOR STAY EVEN THOUGH WE LEFT RIGHT AFTER CHECK-IN. STAY AT THE MARRIOTT INN 2 MILES DOWN THE ROAD IT WAS FANTASTIC AND THE SERVICE WAS GREAT!

2022-04-03Absolutely disappointing and disgusting! The pictures you see online of this establishment are a scam. I was shocked at the entire condition of the place. Reeks of cigarettes and weed , is dusty, dirty and the furniture is either destroyed or worn out. They offered us another room which was in a a bit cleaner but still in bad shape. I feel sorry for people who are deceived by the outdated photos like me. This place should be shut down because clearly the owners don’t care about taking care of it. Refer to attached photos for proof.

2022-06-28I need a place to rest for a couple hours. And this was the best option. Wasn’t the cleanest, but by far was not the worst. Although the guy at the end was not very friendly. I don’t know it is what it is. 40 bucks for three hours

2021-12-16Positive: NOTHING!! Hotel was disgusting, unsanitary, unhealthy, filthy. I didnt even lasted one hour there before I left and booked another hotel. The bathtub was gooey, the towels were dirty and stained. the bed sheets were dirty too. DISGUSTING and UNSANITARY! Negative: There was blood stains behind the bathroom door, cigarettes in the corners of the floor, the bed frame was peeled off like if it was more than a decade old, the walls were splashed in yellow liquid, the shower curtain was dirty and with stains.
