During Summer, every Wednesday from 2 p.m till 6 o.m, theres is pop up farmers Market outside the community center. There are a few stalls that offer fresh organic fruits and vegetables. They also sell homemade jams, pickles, salad dressing etc. The farmers (sellers) are really sweet.

I have only ever been here for shows of the alt/screamo variety... that being said, you can really rage and get wild when confined to that small of a space with so many people. Its like a big basement, like literally thats it. The band Ive seen were 10/10, the space? Not so much.

I attended a town hall here for a candidate for Attorney General of New York State. Her name was Zephyr Teachout, she was amazing. She is really passionate and plans to use the office to investigate corruption by office holders who do business in New York State.

I go to meetings because I feel I have a civic duty.I have the idea that Im on assignment from an editor who doesnt even have a desk or a name.Oh yeah, Jean Paul Sarte wrote that to be authentic, one must have a project and be willing to reveal being.Ill have to reread Being and Nothingness written by Jean Paul again to see if I finally understand it.To see if I can actually quote Sartre without shame.Last nights meeting gathered in the Wescott Community Center, a busy place that hosts a senior citizens lunch daily, hosts classes for karate and drawing from life and presents a farmers market in the warmer months. The building reminds me of an old fire station or a little, two-story brick elementary. What was the title of the meeting?Resist, Divest and Invest?A financial planner plus a community bank plus a program officer from the community foundation arrived to talk, using a slideshow made with an online program.Beware of illuminati chatting you up with slideshows.Ha Ha.The planner works selling funds like Calvert and Parnassus, companies that invest in companies that pass an environmental and ethical sniff test.Wells Fargo, for instance, got dumped by Parnassus when Wells Fargo went through an ethics crisis, opening ersatz accounts for clients and booking unneeded, unrequested loans. The officer from the community foundation didnt talk much and didnt have to say much.Oldest money in the city rests in the community chest, billions of it.Old money doesnt have to say much when it speaks loudly by signing checks that could not possibly bounce. The foundation grants five percent of that wealth to organizations in the region and complies with the law.The bank started life in eighties when concerned people wanting to pull money out of anything that looked like South African Apartheid. And now South Africa has a government that looks like the population of South Africa. At the end, the call to action came. The Reinvest Central New York Alliance wanted pledge cards signed, saying how much we would divert from the bad economy into the good economy, investing with the planner, moving our payroll direct deposit to the community bank and making a donation to the community foundation.Already two and a half million dollars of the five million dollar goal for the campaign had been diverted.Well, I admire the enthusiasm, but I just set up a hefty 401 K withdrawal and I didnt see a Calvert or a Parnassus in the choices offered by T. Rowe Price. And my direct deposit becomes available a day early, thanks to my current bank. And last, I knew everyone at the community foundation in Muskegon. This officer might be the first sign Ive had that real people work in the offices of the foundation, a lovingly restored building on the north side of Firemans Park.Once the building served as a mansion for a wealthy family and maybe a private club after the family moved out and onward.Ive visited for a writers group and a presentation on buying houses from the land bank.I have wanted to go to the book awards at the mansion but the ticket price gave me pause the last two times. So I wanted to know.If I signed this card, what happened?

The people at Wescott really care a lot about people. The many modalities are set up for anybodys benifit. Times that they are open and programs offered were easily understood on their website.
