A surprising gem on the Interstate, featuring very clean, modern washrooms, along with the same for a seating area. In addition, what was very unique about it, was the “Made in NY” mini grocery store/cafe inside. A welcoming take on a greeting centre for visitors to NY state.
The building design is terrific. Staff is friendly and helpful. Nice selection of locally-sourced foods. Plenty of walking space outside. Easy access back on to the 190.My only concern is with location for out of town visitors. Would that many people stop there, so close to Niagara Falls?
Its a very nice building but the location is lacking. It isnt accessible directly from the highway, you have to exit and drive a short distance. The information presented was very general and not what I would be looking for coming to a welcome center. It gave plenty of destination ideas but didnt give pricing info or specific info about what to do there. Go to the Midway State Park. Great, what does it cost? What types of rides are there? What ages is it appropriate for? They were even pushing Fantasy Island which is across the street..... but its been closed for at least a year. It has more than 40 rides but no mention none of them are running. When we were there the only visitors were a group who were clearly a local knitting club. I guess the place is so dead it makes a good place for them to meet. If you arent from the area just keep driving.
As a truck driver it’s a nice place to sleep for the night with very Very! Clean bathrooms. Also if you have a dog with you it has a nice sized dog park and if you have kids it has a playground. Overall it is my go to place when stopping for the night in Niagara Falls.
This rest stop is very informative with great tourist views and history information. Theres a playground outside for children and dogs, and a nice setup for pictures. I am a CDL truck driver so I was grateful for the truck parking as I got to go to Niagara Falls in a taxi for the first time.
This is a beautiful building built a few years ago in a Frank Lloyd Wright style. It is like a rest area (no gas station). It is extremely clean, including bathrooms. They have a cafe with many NY made food items. We use the ultra fast electric car chargers there (3 of them). They charge our Hyundai Ioniq in about 25 minutes and are currently free. Nice playground for younger kids on the site. Did I say how well upkept and clean this place is?! This is about 10 minutes before or after Niagara Falls, so worth a stop if you need a break or rest rooms, or an electric charge.
This building is amazing, the design and layout is something to be admired. They really took their time in building, this spacious Welcome center. There is plenty of seating inside, as well as outside. There are video display screens and maps, showing the facts about western ny area. Bathrooms are extremely clean and they have stalls purposely unaccessible, to provide social distancing. Outside there is two parks, one for children and the other for your pets.
Love it! Spacious, huge, with lots of cool info. Granted, more chain restaurant food options may be good for some but I didnt mind the one big cafe/restaurant there. The washrooms are clean and the location of the place so close to the border was helpful - fantastic as a rest stop.
This is an extremely modern tourist info/welcome center. It contains clean bathrooms, a large scale map (created in the floor) many displays with a wealth of knowledge, and pamphlets and interactive displays. There is also a gift shop in this well-maintained facility which was not open late Saturday evening when we went through.
This building is beautiful. Its a large, open building furnished very nicely with a lot of windows for natural light. Its comfortable with places to sit and relax. If you need any gifts that are WNY made stop here. They offer a great selection of local and made in NY food items like BBQ sauce, maple sugar candy, coffees, beers, etc.. They also have kiosks that are electronic and user friendly to make it easy to find choices of destinations in the area by categories like sports, entertainment, etc.. There are charging stations and restrooms. This is quite a far cry from the older style welcome centers with nothing but a bunch of pamphlets and brochures.
Very impressive, new, big building, but theres nothing in it. A small store with snacks / drinks. Maybe a few souvenirs but otherwise theres nothing else. Theres bathrooms and charging stations for your electric devices but not much of anything else. Kinda disappointing considering how much it Cost to build this new building. In my opinion, it should be 1/3 the size and could still accomplish the same things.
Nothing to make me want to see any more of western NY. Displays placed so high they cant be seen if youre not 6 tall. Only one guidebook in limited quantities. Nothing other than a Taste New York shop. Very hard to get to. Not clearly marked for entrance. The best thing about the place is the map inlaid on the floor.
Beautiful building and grounds with a ton of information about NY. It made me feel proud to be a New Yorker. It has a very relaxing atmosphere and there are plenty of places to relax from being on the road. The selection of NY products to buy is really cool as well. The one negative-- the womens bathroom was disgusting. We were there on a Saturday afternoon...wasnt told crowded. But youd never know it from the conditions of the ladies room. It was really terrible.
This is an amazing place.Would be even more amazing if the Welcome Center felt welcoming. Actual people to greet you would be nice. The information on the touchscreens was difficult to access. The store had some cool stuff from across New York, some from as far away as Brooklyn.Stop by and browse.
The little park they have is so cute. Its such a great photo op. The pirate ship makes me think of peterpan. And i love the material they use for the ground , its soft and bouncey so if kids fall they wont get injured. So if you happen to be driving by stop and check it out. The door were open late for the bathroom too.
Gorgeous building. The Frank Lloyd Wright inspired architecture was a great way to pay tribute to a guy who designed some awesome buildings in the Buffalo area. Anyone passing over Grand Island should stop and check it out. Easy access from the 190. Great store with locally produced products including cheese, coffee, candy, beverages of all types. Something for everyone. Lots of information about places to go and see in Western New York. It would be great to have them add a store for local artists to sell their stuff. The day g park is small but well maintained and is a great spot for the dogs to run around. Plenty of parking and charging stations too.
I ❤️ the Western NY Welcome Center! Kids can play on the pirate ship playground, walk your critter in the fenced park. Take a rest from driving on the Interstate. IMMACULATE clean washrooms, all NY food products from snacks, ice cream to cheese curds and hot food too prepared by friendly folks during the day. Vending machines available after hours. Open 24h. Trucker friendly with separate parking for big rigs and cars. Ive been coming here for over a year to use their FREE CHAdeMO chargers (download the evconnect app to get things going). There are 3 available. They work great and are well maintained. Thanks NY state!
I like the products sold here they get 5 stars for that, however the ev connect chargers in the lot are having a lot of trouble connecting to the cars if you go and download plug share you can see the recent reviews of the plugs not good 😐 always go there with range in case the chargers are not working
An incredible Frank Lloyd Wright design come to life in truly amazing scale - what a greeting center. Not only will you find information on New Yorks storied history, but you can also check out some of New Yorks finest products in the Taste of NY store right inside the center. There is an indoor rest area or you can watch the kids play on the outdoor playground. You can even take your picture with a buffalo.
Renee Day supposedly a manager at the Taste of New York was so rude, it was unbelievable. Stopped in and she had Turkey panini on the counter for sampling it was hard like it was sitting there a while or old. That night I got sick. The rest of building was gorgeous and very beautiful and clean, loved the playground and dog park ideas.
I travel, I mean I actually travel a lot (54k miles last year across US and Canada) - this is by far the best Welcome/Rest area Ive encountered in all these years. Camped in the bed of my truck and woke up to find that they serve coffee and have a great selection of other edibles.
Waste of taxpayer money is access from the I190, building well over built and lack of personal. Clean, big, and bright, yes. I went in for an Ez pass to save money on my commute, but nobody was there to help, poor signage, and was clueless on what or where to do this. Found a small sign that offers service 2 days a week in a window of time. Nothing is easy in NEW YORK STATE. Thank you Coumo!
Was in the welcome center in grand island, what a amazing gorgeous place. I looked around the store (taste of ny) and was going to pay some stuff, but when I heard a womens voice in DISRESPECT I looked over and a woman acting and disrespecting a employee. I then put my stuff down and walked by her the name tag said Renee Day I would never hire a person like that. She was so rude and mean. I could not believe what I heard no one should be treated like that someone must talk to her possibly but her in her place. My understanding the governor wanted this place and store, wonder what he would say or think knowing how that store is ran or the way RENEE DAY is. 12/29/2018
Its a great place to spot to get info about all the great attractions and activities in Buffalo, Niagara Falls and all around Western New York. When you stop you can check out the wonderful Frank Lloyd Wright inspired building, grab something to eat in the Only in NY store, let you kids play in the Buffalo Waterfront inspired play ground, let your dog run around in the little doggie park and quick charge your electric car!
Wad a waste of taxpayers money! Another How Great I Art From Gov,. King Como Hell do anything for Power & worship from the Lemmings thathinkd he walks on water between Killing babies & letting every illegal into our country to insure his giveaway programs keeps him & Buecrats in power TRAITOR
How do you build a $20 million dollar rest stop in 2018 and not have the ability to charge a Tesla?! Typical NYS move...always 10 years behind..Couldnt charge my car... At least I checked before I needed itEdit: get in touch with Tesla and put some superchargers here!!

2021-08-11Pretty nice for stopping on a road trip to get something to eat, go to the bathroom, and/or just hang out. The place is very clean and modern inside. My sister and I got bagels from the cafe and we came to an agreement that they’re one of the best bagels we’ve ever had in all honesty. Even outside, there’s a little playground for kids to jump and play around. Love it!!

2020-09-04This is a great stop! Clean and lots of amenities. A fenced dog area that my little guy appreciated. A small but cute playground and a covered shelter for motorcycles. There were plug ins available for electric cars. A cafe inside along with made in NY products for sale. Several kiosks that were entertaining question and answer as well as some that showed videos of NY areas to visit. The bathrooms were very clean and there was a vending room that I didnt visit. Also a walk of fame outside the entrance with plaques for famous New Yorkers.
