Nice hotel with a nice history if you look into it.Relatively convenient, near grand central station for the metro. The bar was very slow though, especially for morning coffees. Was weird they have a massive Stella Artois sign yet only serve it in oversized bottles 🤷♀️Room was clean, tidy and a good size for Manhattan.
The friendly and helpful staff, the beautiful decor, and the exceptionally clean (and spacious) 1 bedroom suite all made for an excellent stay. Having a totally separate bedroom from the livingroom was rare to find at a decent price point for a hotel in NYC. Also, we enjoyed having three large windows with city views in the suite, (all with double shades for sleeping). The room amenities were perfect for our group of 3 girls... with 2 Tvs, ample mirrors (both in living and bedrooms as well as the bathroom), well placed outlets, lots of storage room (a desk in both rooms , 2 nightstands, a deep drawer dresser and closet with hanging area and built in storage and shoe rack), a fridge, a double coffee maker, clothes iron, hairdryer and a walk-in shower. There was no carpet in our suite and no dust on any surface which added to the overall hygienic and clean feel to the suite. We had to request housekeeping daily, but they did an excellent job refreshing and restocking each day that we requested them. The front desk staff were eager to help with any questions or needs we had. The doormen (especially Jose and Freddy) helped us feel safe as they always welcomed us with smiles and verbal greetings... I think they were always there, 24 hours a day (well, the latest we came in was 2:30am and earliest we left was 6am and they were there every time). They had very positive attitudes while assisting us to enter the building and find transportation and get directions when needed. I have stayed at a dozen other properties in NYC and this is one of the best staffed I have ever stayed in.
On arrival we were informed about a destination fee of roughly $34 per night on top of the payment we had already made. Asking what this was for we were told “water, coffee and printing boarding passes” which we felt was something a hotel just does anyway. We then had to deal with constant banging from the air conditioning unit as well both nights we were there. House keeping also woke us up at 9am thinking we had checked out. While the bed was comfortable and it wasn’t unliveable to stay there there was much to be desired.
Clean, simple, beautiful hotel with incredibly friendly staff. Provided a wonderful crib for my baby. Love the convenience of the cafe and little convenience store in the ornate lobby downstairs. Really all you can ask of a NYC hotel since you should be spending most of the day exploring the city.
Awesome stay here this past weekend! Conveniently located and attentive staff! Upon arrival we asked for a complementary room upgrade and Kevin, the front desk attendant and Dorlan, the manager happily fulfilled our requested! The bed was SUPER comfortable. The lobby was beautifully decorated for Christmas! We will definitely stay again next time we’re in the city!
First time in New York and I must say, this cozy hotel was one of the best parts of my trip. The rooms are renovated and beautiful—and can I just say, wood floors?! Every single staff member my sister and I encountered during our stay here was absolutely amazing, warm, and inviting. From Kevin at the front desk, who gave us a complimentary upgrade to a larger room(!!!), to the doormen Jose and Chafik—we really felt taken care of!Even the woman at the bar, who I wish I’d caught the name of, gave me a dollar to get a banana from one of the corner vendors before an early morning run when I’d gone down to see if they had any and they did not. Can you imagine? The hospitality is just absolutely superb. (I did try to refuse, but she insisted!) It’s all these small things that added up to such an amazing stay. I would stay again here in a heartbeat!!!!Location is great. Literally a five minute walk to access grand central and all the subway lines. Additionally, there’s a CVS right down the corner for any last minute items. Just a great set up, honestly.Thank you, Westgate Grand Central! You’ve made my trip so comfortable and enjoyable! I’ll be back :)
This hotel is really nice it’s just a bit small depending on the suite you choose. For example if using the toilet the door would legit hit your knee if opened. Apart from that The room is very clean wish we had taken pictures before we settled in an made a mess of everything. If you plan on driving to this location do keep in mind that it’s located right on 42nd st near the UN therefore parking is very limited. This hotel does offer valet parking (third party sites may say it’s free but that’s not the case) however it’s roughly 65 a night an you pay an additional 65 every time you decide to take your vehicle out.All in all minus the extremely high destination fees the staff especially the concierge team day an night are extremely helpful. They’re definitely the prime example of good customer service. We be back but for the balcony suite.
I stayed here for a last minute trip to Manhattan. I utilized the valet parking (booked my room to include parking) since I drove and that was great not having to worry about finding parking and potentially dragging luggage a few blocks. They do allow in and out privileges but you have to pay each time but I just left my car until it was time to checkout. With covid, most of the employees I encountered were wearing masks. Im always proactive with wearing mine either way. I was given a few options of room locations and chose one that was considered quiet since it was farthest from the elevator. I was quite impressed with the room size for NYC. Definitely enough space for me and another person. It was clean, housekeeping came each day, and I had no issues when I requested something like more towels or cups. The location was perfect for me. It was close enough to either walk or take the train to anywhere in Manhattan. I did a lot of walking which I wanted to do. It was close enough to catch a show on Broadway, visit Times Square, Hudson Yards, etc. It was nice to be in a quiet location at the end of each day. I would definitely stay at this hotel again.
Positive: My first time in NYC with my May babies girl trip the location, cleanliness, comfort beds, check in and check out. Restaurants, stores, parks and shopping was close. The concergie Mr. Chafik was was very kind and helpful. I will stay again on my next trip Negative: Everything was great
Surprised my mom with a trip to New York and stayed here. Very clean, nice staff and the hotels history, renovations and ambience were a plus! The rooms did not have carpet which to me always feels cleaner. The bar area was adorable and the bartenders were great. We were leaving late on Sunday and were able to leave our things at the hotel so we could explore with carrying all that. Staff was very helpful with recommendations as well as with transportation suggestions back to the airport. My mom and I are big on walking and found it to be convenient. We hope to be back! Thank you!
My friend and I had a great stay at Westgate New York. Dennis, the doorman, was very friendly. By the second day he had recognized our faces and would go to the door when he saw us coming down the street. We didnt have much interaction with the front desk staff. Our room was small, but worked for our trip--we didnt spend much time in it. There is, however, NO sound proofing between rooms. The location was perfect and felt safe--close to Grand Central, restaurants, and coffee shops. Easy walk to Times Square, 5th Avenue, and more.
Love love love the westgate New York grand central!! Our stay was so comfortable and easy. We stayed in a newly renovated room which was quite spacious for a hotel room in the city! The bed was super comfy and the entire room was very clean. The staff was impeccable and very professional throughout our entire trip. The hotel is nice and central. Close to Times Square, Rockefeller centre and etc. Also the grand central subway station is nearby which is a bonus. I would give this hotel 5+ stars if I could! They made our stay so much more memorable. Hands down recommend this hotel to anyone that is looking for a place to stay in beautiful New York City!
Customer service was impeccable! Once the staff knew your name, they used it when talking with you. The room was very clean and airy! The whole hotel was clean, including light fixtures and counters! The period paintings, fixtures and furnishings added to the ambience of the setting. We valet-parked our car and didnt have to worry about parking during our stay. The hotel was walking distance to lots of great restaurants and sites like the United Nations. We are looking forward to our return visit!
AWFUL BREAKFAST & SILLY MANAGER !Even if the location of this hotel is correct, the 15$ coupon per person for daily breakfast, even not groupable with the one of your room partner (thanks to the the bar tender, kind as a prison door, confirmed by the manager on duty !!!), allows only one hot drink, one small bottle of juice & a small package of cakes ... absolutely not at the expected level of a 4 stars hotel !The lack of flexibility of the manager on duty was regrettable.Better to consider an alternative housing solution for a pleasant discovery of the Big Apple.
The hotel is impeccable and the renovations came out beautifully! It’s a few blocks from Times Square so you if visiting the city bring your walking shoes and be ready to walk a mile, but heck that’s why most of us love NYC!There isn’t is a subway or convenient transportation but they make up for it with how beautiful the rooms are and the superb staff. They let my wife and I check in early and the newly renovated lobby has a “wow factor.”It’s truly 5 stars in and out but the only hiccup with the water didn’t drain properly in the bath and there was hair still in the drain and on the shower wall (could have been cleaned more thoroughly)If visiting the city, don’t count this one out, especially if you plan to be exploring all day! Rooms are cozy for a couple and two people maximum.
From the moment we arrived to the moment we departed, absolutely everything was divine. The Concierge Staff (especially Jose), Front Desk Staff(especially Nestor) , Bar/Snack Staff (especially Esi) … everyone was amazing. The room was superior, fresh, newly renovated; more spacious than some NYC hotels I’ve stayed in; large, tiled, walk-in shower; very comfy mattresses and bedding; quick, smooth elevators; posh surroundings and decor; we never entered or departed that the concierge wasn’t there to get the door, assist us into our Uber; and arranged rides/taxis. Westgate is a gem; close to everything.
Room was in great condition. They state square footage on their site (greatly appreciated). If the room is dirty or differs significantly from your booking, don’t settle in, just take pictures walk out and don’t accept a different room that is not fixed. I don’t see the complaints about the bathroom door, given the queen room size, everything is laid out very appropriately. It would be so easy for them to improve their $5/day upgraded Wi-Fi. Given midtown should have their pick of commercial ISPs, they can offer better than double their free bandwidth. Do not pay for 5 -> 10 Mbps upgrade (unless it works fine for yourself but not with multiple guests online, something like that).
I don’t have a single bad thing to say about this hotel. We had a pleasant stay. The customer service was top notch from each member of the staff. Small hotel so it was quick to get in and out. Everything was clean. Bathrooms, even the public ones, were crispy and clean. No odors inside the hotel at all. I did not get a chance to eat or drink at the bar but it was very inviting. I would stay here again. Not far from Grand Central Station and a easy walk to Time Square and other areas for shopping.
Have you ever stayed in the most disgusting awful motel and thought, “I wish somebody had warned me about this place?.” Well, take this as your warning. I have been staying in hotels in nyc for decades, and this is by far the absolute worst. Staff is disrespectful, rude and unknowledgeable. The room is mediocre - dirty, smaller than advertised and decently decorated. I wish I had been warned before I booked a room in this hotel because it is truly one of the worst hotels I’ve ever stayed in NYC.
They’re selling rooms that don’t even exist (photos do not match actual hotel). We booked directly from the Westgate website, and at check in we were informed that the type of room we booked did not exist, and that this was a reoccurring issue for guests. This room type exists in another Westgate hotel, but not the NYC one. After checking in, we were told that sheets would be sent up and that the pullout couch would be set up. When we returned to our room at midnight, no sheets had been delivered still. We had to wait until 2am to finally get sheets, after calling the front desk with no success (the girl was extremely rude and hung up several times) and eventually had to go to the front desk ourselves where we still had to wait for them to locate bed sheets. If you call down to the front desk, it doesnt even direct the call to this front desk in NYC- it redirects you to a main Westgate line in Florida... When one of our guests needed a bandaid, the staff informed us that they do not even have a first aid kit on premise. Overall, very disappointing experience- only pros were the staff that tried their best to remedy the situation as best they could and the common areas of the hotel.
I caught COVID while in New York. I wanted to quarantine in my room to protect others but the Front Desk refused to bring my Uber Eats food up to my room. They told me that I had to go down the elevator and pick the food up from the front desk. They were risking the lives of their guests and employees. One time when I went down the elevator (with covid), 2 employees got in the same elevator as I went down and I felt badly for them and I hope they dont get sick, but if they do its the managements fault. I was doing what the Front Desk told me to do. Shocked and stunned these people were so willing to kill people to avoid having to bring something to a guests room.
Came to New York for 2 weeks and decided to move out of Moxy mid-week to WG. While the space was a lot more comfortably spacious, the service desk and housekeeping refrains me from recommending to family and friends. For 3 consecutive evenings, I’ve called the front desk to make requests for amenities (e.g extra towels, extra cups, extra hangers), not only are the requests missed, I had to at least call up the front desk 3-4 times in 30-minute to hourly to check in on the status.Housekeeping has also forgotten to clean the bath tub in one of the evenings and refreshed empty shower gel tubes. The left side of the room (next to the wardrobe was very dusty) - did not realise it was so until I sat on the floor packing my luggage and have all grey dust settled on my bottom.Honestly quite disappointed.
Positive: It was clean. Negative: There were so many additional charges that were not explained at booking. Also the staff could not have cared less about those concerns and finally the heat was cranked up the entire time even if I lowered the temp on my thermostats it was boiling.
The hotel staff was very friendly helpful and accommodating. You could tell the rooms were remodeled room were very clean comfortable very well designed. Our entire stay there it was very comfortable very rememberable and it felt very high class absolutely one of my favorite stays in New York.
To say that this place is amazing, is an understatement. From the doorman to reception to the room and everything in between, it was one of the most memorable and beautiful hotel stays we have ever had. Upon hearing that it was our anniversary, our room was upgraded. We had a stunning view of the river with our own private balcony. We couldn’t be more grateful. I never want to stay anywhere else ever again when in NYC. This is our place now in New York City. The hotel is the famous Tutor Hotel. Stunning! While preserving it’s historic roots, the upgrades are beautifully and tastefully done.We can’t wait to come back.
Positive: The location was perfect and the room was very comfortable. The sheets were extremely soft. The room did not have a good view, but it was very quiet. I love an older hotel with a lot of charm. Negative: The view was not good, but the trade off was a very quiet room not facing the street. I wish the hotel had a restaurant.
Positive: Very friendly staff. Very clean. Very nice and good quality bed. About a 10 minute walk to Grand Central subway station which gets to you wherever you want in the city. Negative: Sink was clogged and water pressure was low. Mentioned to staff after the 1st night but it was never fixed. Besides that we had a great stay but we would give this hotel a 3 star rating overall.
We arrived at noon and was able to get an early check in thanks to Kevin at the front desk. Thanks Kevin for being so nice and accommodating! You rock! Concierge was wonderful as well. Always opening doors and walking us to our Uber. The maid was friendly and ready to clean and provide extra towels as needed. The hotel was amazing! I love the historic charm and feeling I got during my stay. We had a room with a balcony and the views were amazing! The hotel was located on a quieter end of Manhattan and it was the perfect getaway from all of the hustle and bustle of the city. I highly recommend staying at Westgate Grand Central! You will NOT be disappointed!
Gorgeous property that is located in a perfect spot to visit any part of NYC. Right next to the subway and the ferry stop is a short, safe walk from the hotel. Loved that it wasnt in the heart of the super touristy area! Clean! Great hospitality from valet to the front desk. Really everything you could want in a hotel and a superb location. You can even see the river from the balconies!
Staff was friendly and knowledgeable about the area. Rooms were gorgeous- not sure what they were like prior to renovation, but they did an IMPECCABLE job. Comfy beds, quiet, and clean. Bathroom was one of larger ones compared with other NYC hotels we stayed at. Area was convenient for sightseeing and only a short ride uptown to visit family. A little quieter of an area, but still close to the bustle. Definitely would stay again.
Positive: Great front desk staff & bellmen. Beautiful newly renovated rooms Amazingly comfortable bed and pillows Loved the toiletries Negative: The top lock on my door was broken which might have freaked me out if I was a nervous person. ( it looked like it had been forced open with the screws loose and all) The bartender was completely lost with only three people at the bar.
We upgraded from a notoriously small room to a larger suite which was indeed worth it as my wife and I could actually have a bit of room to open our suitcases. We liked the blackout shades, very comfortable bed and linens, easy temp controls, and spacious shower. The things we didn’t like were NO RECYCLING cans in the rooms which, in 2021, is very irresponsible of the hotel. Also, we could connect our phones to the tv which is kind of annoying. Finally, the artwork is confusing - on one hand, there’s a lot of Gustav Klimt reproductions but they’re paired with tacky paintings by a much lesser artist. The same in the both rooms we visited. Also, in a suite, some robes would have been a nice touch to have.
Id give it 3 stars but the customer service made it a 4 star for me. Front desk was nice and helped out when A/C In my room didn’t work so room service brought us two space heaters. I also had to ask for sheets for the sofa bed. No parking anywhere so be prepared to pay for Valet. Other than that, it’s a nice hotel.
I had the most wonderful experience at this hotel. Christina, Patricia and Tony are so amazing. I cant wait to visit again. Thank you all for being so accommodating and just genuinely wonderful people. Thank you!! The place was beautiful and clean and in the best place to see the City.
What a remarkable experience. Our first group outing and Charmaine exceeded our expectations. Our group was handled from beginning to end with exceptional professional service. The hotel itself took our breath away, we couldn’t believe the greetings as we walked in to check in. Everyone was so excited to greet us and the best part was the location! Westgate New York is located in the perfect location for our group. We visited several attractions, some more than once! The Tudor city tavern in the lobby was my go to. I was able to grab a bite to eat and enjoy a refreshing drink in between visiting attractions. The Old Fashioned has the best bitters and orange twist I ever tasted! Upon entering into our rooms (Luxe Two Queens Balcony) I could smell the cleanliness of it and the freshness of the room. The beds were made up to perfection and the bathroom was spotless. I stepped out in the hallway as housekeeping passed by to ask for extra towels and the housekeeping lady greeted me with a big smile and asked how my day was going, that was a nice touch of friendliness to my day. Overall wonderful experience we will be back personally and professionally.
Its really upsetting to write this review but I had the most stressful time at this hotel. While all of the staff are very friendly and seem to listen to you they dont do anything to actually fix the situation. On the first night, we heard loud banging every hour, the air conditioner stopped working, we noticed the smoke detector had been ripped out of the ceiling, and the toilet clogged up. After numerous calls to the front desk where we got a well send someone up right away we finally got someone sent up. I should not have to ask multiple times to get something fixed. Mind you, I didnt call over a period of minutes, I called over a period of hours, even into the next day. We requested more towels and maid service and was told that someone would be sent up. Come back 8 hours later and guess what, still no towels and no one had been sent up. Every time we brought something up, we got a friendly response but no action. As lovely as the people were, I did not have a pleasant time at this hotel.
This hotel was completely overhauled this year and the rooms are all completely remodeled and brand new inside. I stayed here for a few days and here are some pros and cons.Pros: location is great, its near Grand Central and in a non-touristy more quiet area of midtown east, the hotel has a beautiful lobby and the staff are friendly and hospitable, the room (while small but typical for midtown room sizes) had tons of storage space, a good bed, beautiful new wood floors, and a lovely bathroom. Also, the windows are all double paned so I barely heard any outside noise at all. It was also extremely clean and there is a kiosk in the lobby that sells food and Starbucks in the morning which is nice.Cons: Its a very, very old beautiful hotel (I believe this used to be the Hotel Tudor) and every room has a doorbell which is quaint and cute however my rooms bell had a malfunction and it would ring at random times at night and in the morning which was disconcerting (thought it was a weird other guest until it rang incessantly and I pulled the door open while it was ringing to see no one there, so either its the weirdest ghost encounter I experienced or there was a technical malfunction, you decide). Additionally, the air conditioning while great had an issue with the compressor where it would cycle off and literally make a loud slamming noise. Between the slamming and the doorbell issue, it was comically bad for a few nights but this could have been an isolated room issue. All in all, its a lovely hotel and the overhaul is gorgeous and the location is great for people wanting to avoid the insanity of the Times Square hotel area.
If you think about a nice sized hotel room with a king size bed, cut that in half. Then cut it in half again. You still dont have the size, BUT, if you cut that in half again, then youd still have a room bigger than this and the messed up part, THAT was the upgrade! Now, Westgate- YOU KNOW BETTER! Ive been coming to Westgate all over the country since I was a teenager and this one, closest to home was absurdly and absolutely the worst room EVER! You cant stay in this hotel and be anything over a standard sized person because you will be very uncomfortable. The room is small, the bathroom is small, the closet is small, the windows are small, the hallways slap you if you sneeze and the elevator definitely hugs you in a way you dont need it to. And for nearly $400- this is New York ladies and gentlemen. Good luck (and dont stretch too hard- you might touch the ceiling by accident).
Westgate was one of the cleanest hotels I’ve stayed in at NYC. The location is great and located right next to Grand Central Station. We even felt safe walking around the area late at night and during the day, there are tons of coffee shops and stores within quick walking distance. The staff was so friendly and helpful as well. I am going to try to make Westgate our main stay when we come into the city.
Ok hotel at best, not worth the price tag for the room and the service is mostly lacking for a resort. Worst part is that the bar downstairs decided towards the end of the stay to start charging $3.50 for tap water or club soda from the bar...To think they charge a resort fee for a hotel with no amenities and no free water from the bar is ridiculous.Isa who does the morning shift at the bar is the most wonderful person. The front desk staff team is nice too.
The best hotel in NYC I’ve ever been privileged enough to stay at. Gorgeous building with a lot of history, and it only gets more breathtaking when you walk in – the remodeling that took place is one of a kind. High quality rooms, and high quality service. Westgate has really taken the time to take this iconic NYC property to the next level. Can’t wait to get back to NYC! Thank you for making our 1st trip back to NY one to remember!
The room was small like most NY hotels. The hvac system was making noise because it was on A/C, forcing me to bear the noise or turn on the heat, which made the small room extremely hot. There was a large amount of mold on my bedsheets. I was unable to eat one night because the ONE microwave available to guests was locked up for the night. The location isn’t the best, not much around. Public transportation (trains/buses) is close though. Resort fee covers what exactly? Wi-Fi and newspapers (I didn’t use either of them). Easy check in/ check out. Day shift ladies were very pleasant, that man at night not so much! Doormen we’re very helpful and friendly. Overall it was not a good stay. Will not be returning or recommending.
The Westgate New York Grand Central very recently renovated their entire property and its beauteous. We stayed for 3 nights this past weekend and enjoyed our stay in one of their impeccably kept corner king suites. Our suite had a large balcony with expansive views of Manhattan and the East River, one of the biggest bathrooms Ive seen in all of NYC with a glorious quartz vanity, a separate sitting area featuring artwork by Klimt, a writing desk, and more. Its only a few minutes from Grand Central Station and other NYC attractions, yet its quiet and charming. Highly recommending!
This is not a 4 star hotel. There are no amenities aside from the lounge area. No gym, business center, rooftop, pool, room service or breakfast options. They dont clean the rooms on a daily basis and you have to request for it everyday. Ive stayed in several 3 to 5 star hotels and daily cleaning service is a norm and does not have to be requested. Bathroom are dirty, checked in and there were hair everywhere and dirty towels with makeup. No hot water either. Mini fridge not even plugged in and all the tags are still attached. They are a 2 star hotel the most. DO NOT STAY HERE.
Such a great hotel to stay at in New York City! A quick walk away from Grand Central Station, The Chrysler Building, and everything else you would love to see in the city! This resort just had an incredible remodel to the rooms and the lobby. Worth checking out next time you are in New York City!
This hotel sets the standard for all in its industry. Not only was my family’s stay welcomed with the most amazing staff but the views of the city from WG are unmatched. I would definitely recommend this location to anyone looking to indulge themselves in wonderful food, people, and views.
Story Time: My husband and I landed in NYC last Thursday and were exhausted from our travels. After landing in LaGuardia and getting our bags, we were ready to be at the hotel with drinks in our hands and settled in bed. We got a taxi, and when I say it barely took 20 minutes to get to the hotel, I mean it was the fastest taxi ride from an airport to hotel in my life! When we arrived, we were pleasantly surprised by bright and clean lobby, and the check-in was pretty quick considering they recently reopened. We grabbed a drink at the lobby Tudor City bar and both loved our cocktails, we need seconds (and thirds if were being honest!) Up in our room, I swear the bed was so comfortble I feel asleep in an instant. The room was clean, updated, and one of the biggest hotel rooms Ive stayed in NYC. We had a great time touring New York, and will definitely be back to Westgate.
An incredibly spectacular stay at Westgate NYC. I convinced my lady to take a getaway week to WG NYC and despite any hesitation you can say I scored the hubby brownie points for the next 10 years! The staff was incredibly attentive and extremely hospitable. Drinks and atmosphere at the Stella bar was all that I expected and then some, wonderful ambiance, people were respectful and at the same time I felt like I was with the “cool kids” (being that I’m over 40 and all). I definitely recommend this establishment!
Cannot say enough about this hotel. Ive stayed at virtually every hotel in midtown east - some allegedly 5 star. This hotel has them beat. Earned my future business. Bar is a sweet retro-modern haunt I expect will be on everyones radr soon. Thank you to the GM who personally welcomed me. See you next time.
The first thing Ill say is that its LITERALLY the first hotel we saw once we got on the island from Queens tunnel. Very well situated if you dont want to spend a lot of time futzing around in traffic, especially to and from LaGuardia. Secondly, wow. This hotel used to be a hilton? I think? Right? Anyways, I stay here I think about 8 years ago. The new management REALLY kicked it up a notch. Not sure who Westgate is, but certainly have turned this hotel into something special. Nice staff. Very nice location.
This hotel is a hidden gem in New York. The service that I have received, on both occasions staying at this hotel, has been amazing. The staff is extremely friendly and go out of their way to make your trip the best it can be. The knowledge they have of places to eat, shop and visit is amazing! The location is perfect, you are just a few blocks from Grand Central Station. If you are not flying out or leaving until later in the day, they store your baggage and will have a driver waiting to pick you up at the time you request. I have stayed at many hotels in New York, for service and friendliness, this is by far the best. Looking forward to many more visits in the years to come! A huge thank you to Kevin for his wonderful customer service. Thank you for making us feel welcomed at your hotel! Greatly appreciated!
HAIR AND EAR WAX EVERYWHERE! 😬 John the front office manager threatened to call the police on me instead of simply changing out my sheets or changing my room. There was hair and ear wax everywhere including on the bed and in the bathroom. He stood outside over 30 minutes waiting on the police instead of simply just changing my sheets out. 😂😂😂
Loved staying here very quiet has a homey feeling very family friendly spacious rooms and bathroom. The only tiny complaint I have is the coffee pot wouldn’t turn on other than that everything else was wonderful. Front desk staff to the bellman were very helpful and exceeded my expectations. If we ever visit NY again I will definitely book a room here. Was worth every penny we spent. Thank you Westgate for a memorable experience.
Our stay at this property helped make our recent trip unforgettable . This hotel is conveniently located close to the UN, as well as the Chrysler Building- my absolute favorite building in the City. Check-in was a breeze, and the employees were very nice and accommodating. Rooms were clean and comfortable- and ready for us upon arrival. We loved walking around the area and finding great restaurants for dinner. We didnt stay at this property on our previous trips, so I cant comment on what has improved since the new company took over. However, we plan to return at Christmas and look forward to staying here again.
I dont write reviews but I feel strongly that I will not be staying here again. I have stayed at this hotel twice for work/ proximity purposes and frankly that is the only upside about it! The staff is helpful but not kind. My reservation was lost and my upgraded room was smaller than the next. IF you are lucky to have a functioning window it will be a view of a brick wall. Most recently, my bathroom had wallpaper scratched out of the wall? The minimal channeled television will be your entertainment unless you want to pay 10 bucks for wifi, so bring a book.
I know this is one of the cheaper hotels in NYC but I would still expect more for $250 a night. The lobby is nice, the staff was friendly upon arrival and we were able to check in early which was great. When we got to the room, the bed looked very tiny, we were supposed to have a queen and this definitely looked like a full so I called the front and was informed that hotel queen size beds are just a little smaller than a normal queen. Whatever, no problem, it was only one night. We dropped our bags off in the room, the room had a somewhat funky smell and was warm so we opened a window and went out for a few hours. We are not by picky by any means, and it takes a lot for me to complain or write a bad review, however, when we came back to the room I noticed that next to the bed there was a pair of dirty mens underwear that didnt belong to my husband. I thought this was pretty disgusting. I brought them to the front desk in a plastic bag and they simply said okay, thank you. I asked if our room had been cleaned after the last guest because if it had, how did a pair of underwear end up staying in the room? They said, if you want us to call housekeeping and have them re-clean your room, we can, but it was definitely cleaned, your bed was made wasnt it? I thought this was all pretty bizarre. I expected a very different reaction, at least an apology. I booked the room through hotwire and wonder if maybe thats why we were treated this way. We still paid $250 for the room and expected a clean room at the least. I would not go back.
The hotel staff were nice, the room was clean and tidy although not the biggest of rooms for a queen suite. The bed itself was comfortable and made every day by room service although we did note the sheets were never changed during our stay. As for the view, well, it may be worth asking when booking the room for a proper view. It would have been nice to be able to watch New York at night from the comfort of our room but the brick wall put paid to that and we werent advised at time of check-in by the front staff. Other than that it was a reasonable stay within easy walking distance of Grand Central, 5th Avenue and Times Square etc.
Just stayed here for 2 nights over Thanksgiving to see the parade. Upon checking in the staff was very professional and checking in could not have been made any easier. Pulled up, staff helped with bags, they parked our car, and we checked in. We were in our room in no time at all. Beds and pillows were so comfortable, I hated to get up. The staff at the coffee shop, especially Isa was so sweet and accommodating, like she new us forever. Very happy and would stay there again in the future.
Loved this hotel. Old New York but nicely kept up. My room was spacious esp by NYC standards, I had a bathtub (!!), double paned glass, very quiet, had a question about the ac and someone came up within 5 mins, great breakfast, very sweet staff. Great location. Great price. I stay in NYC a ton and this was one of my best experiences. Thanks Westgate!!!
We are still here and I may add additional input..so far we are very happy! Nice location, comfy rooms. Most important the staff is very nice. Kevin helped up during check in and it was a pleasure. He was helpful and the the room service staff is wonderful. In general everyone says hallo which makes all the difference!
I can’t believe how transformational the new renovation is. It was like the feeling of stepping back in time to old school New York but with all the modern amenities. And my room had a balcony - very rare in NYC! The Stella Bar is a very cool place to hang out for a night cap and the service was the best I’ve had in New York. This is my new NYC spot. Kudos to Christina & Alex V who took great care of me.
Not a four star hotel. The lobby is under major construction. There is no restaurant, no room service and no minibar. No long-distance phone access from the room. The hotel asks you to provide a credit card for incidentals when you arrive, but in fact there are no incidentals available to be charged to the room. The doormen are friendly but the desk staff is not. On the positive side, the room was clean.
This property used to be a Hilton hotel that I frequented a few years ago; it was dark and dingy and in need of a serious upgrade. Westgate has improved the property greatly and I will certainly book a return stay. Not only is the hotel much brighter and more modern, the customer service was excellent; there was an issue with my check in details and the front desk representative that I dealt with handled the problem very efficiently and in a most accommodating fashion. Thank you Vito!
This is not the area I usually stay in, but I was booking last minute, so all pricing had jumped. They allowed me to have early check in, the rooms were large, clean and really quiet! Even though the location was not my favorite part of the city, it was worth the stay for the comfort. We slept like babies after a day of walking, the bed was perfect.
You think it’s a nice and welcoming hotel when you enter, it’s not........I came to have a coffee inside by the Starbucks spot together with my meeting and when I needed to go to the bathroom the door is locked, you can only enter with a guest room key.I went to the front desk to ask for access and they rejected me as per hotel policy that lobby bathroom is only for hotel guest use.You know what, hotel owner and manager? On my next real estate meeting, I will NOT choose your lobby. There are many more hotels that are far more welcoming in the area.
I have just stayed for 4 nights in this hotel on business. Significantly, the room is really clean. All in all a good hotel in a good location with great transport connections. All the staff were very friendly and courteous at the hotel. Well definitely stay here again next time around.
Great stay last week at this old school hotel. I remember staying there almost 2 years ago when it was a Hilton or something like that. It was sad that they kinda ran it into the ground. New owners seem really nice and you can already see the changes in how its being run. Place was nice and clean and (as usual) perfectly located for me. Two thumbs up. ;)
Great budget hotel 5 minutes walk from Grand Central - 20 minutes from Central park / Times square . Rooms were comfortable & clean, with good soundproofing from the neighbouring rooms(street noise to be expected from a downtown hotel). The bathroom could do with a makeover .We decided to eat breakfast around the corner as the hotels was a little expensive. The staff were excellent , accommodating & very helpful. We had some fun banter with them . If youre looking for a budget hotel as a base to see New York, i would definitely recommend the Westgate .
I wish there was a 0 star rating for this hotel. My boyfriend and I came here a couple of weeks ago for our anniversary and it turned out to be a nightmare. At the time of check in one of the employees said they just needed a card for holding purposes, so I gave it to them and they didnt say anything about the fact they were going to hold any money let alone how much they were going to hold. The pictures online of the rooms are extremely misleading and are super tiny, which isnt a problem but I mean come on, I paid 400 for two nights. Anyway, I went to order us a ride to dinner to celebrate but then couldnt because my card was declined. I checked my bank statement and realized the clerk put a hold of 200 dollars on my card without even saying a word about it. Im in the service industry myself and find this to be extremely unprofessional and careless. We went to the front desk to talk with the manager opwhokip said they hold 50 a night, which for 2 nights would mean only 100 instead of 200, so basically they held an extra 100 dollars from me and didnt offer anything except for a complementary breakfast. I mean are you kidding me? She had no sympathy and didnt care or offer to solve anything. Disappointed cant even describe what I felt about this hotel. Do yourself a favor and avoid this hotel like the plague, save your money and go to a motel.Follow up: Thanks for a response Sam, but that doesnt fix the fact that you all still held DOUBLE the amount you were supposed to during my stay. Still not referring anyone here nor ever coming to stay at your hotel again.
Poor customer service and noisy air con. Even if the air conditioner in your room isn’t on, you’ll be woken by others. They rattle and make loud banging noises as the thermostats kick in and out. Had to wear ear plugs to get any sleep. The hotel is quite run down and I can see why Hilton’s name is no longer on it.Had to call the front desk 3 times before anyone bothered to bring up some items our room was missing.I will go elsewhere next time.
For poor management and customer service....You do not even deserve a one star!I booked a room for an UN officer since it was Hilton at the rate of $241.65, including breakfast & wifi. Once they changed to Westgate Resort, I contacted them confirming that they will still honor the same deal we made with Hilton. They said No because they are a different owner now. The best they can offer is 2 voucher for 1 day breakfast. What is that? The reservation was made for 6 nights and they can only offer me 1 day breakfast? I went back checking on the rate online it is $211.15..they earn $29.50 more than what they posted online. I then asked why can they just offer more breakfast. They said if you are not happy, you can just cancel the reservation and re-book with the new rate. But cancelling and re-booking is not simple as for a regular guest....there are processes we have to gone thru in order to get approved for the new booking. Very poor management and customer service, instead of building up the reputation especially with the UN delegates and they may be getting more diplomat to their door, they just chest one away for sure and I will not recommend using their service at all.
Me and my partner arrived at the Westgate hotel an hour before checking in. As we walked in the entrance, yellow liquid was dripping from the ceiling and it went all over me. When I told the manager about the leak, she was very defensive and made me feel as if it was my fault for coming through the entrance in the first place. After a very unpleasant check in, she reluctantly agreed to give us $11 free WiFi for the inconvenience (which we already thought was included but ok.)When we got to the room, there was a very strong smell of urine, my partner suggested it might be from the vents and when we looked, the vents were absolutely coated with black mould. I have NEVER experienced this in a hotel before, we headed back down stairs and the manager was so rude and defensive about the mould it made me question who employed her in the first place. She said “you can get another room or you get out” in an extremely aggressive tone. She had an issue with me bringing up the yellow liquid/ mould and she very clearly didn’t want to manage the hotel, she made us feel so uncomfortable that we really couldn’t stay there. We went up to the room to get our bags, find another hotel and leave. We were up there for about 15 minutes while trying to find another place (which was very difficult under late notice.) two security guards came up and I heard one of them in the hallway with my partner (he was outside on the phone trying to sort out the refund while I found a hotel.) one of the security guards was ordering us out of the hotel and whilst we were getting our bags and already cooperating, there was no need for him to try and take our bags or threaten to call the police when we were already trying our best to go. I had a panic attack in the room as this was happening, he could have been calm and asked us to leave but it was too much to threaten us and try and take the bags as we were going, on top of everything else that happened (The other man was ok with us though and did come to check that I was ok) I’m really upset with this chain and I wouldn’t recommend that anybody goes here. I can’t believe how we were treated, we were able to get a refund for the 4 days that we were supposed to be there and booked into somewhere else immediately. This whole experience reduced me to tears.
My husband and I made reservations 2 weeks prior to our stay, because we are owners we had to make reservations via owners rental. We booked the signature king balcony suite, went over addional fees such as valet and was given total for stay. We were checked in at approx 1am by the manager Steven Kyriakides who decided to round our balance to the nearest $100 with out any explanation or notification. We were checked into the smaller room king balcony; called Steven who told us we dont guarantee which balcony room you will receive, the rooms price are the same. We explained that was not true, the suite is definitely more, he then stated they were full at that time and he would leave a request for us to be switched out later that day. We then noticed the over charge on our acct a few hours later and called the front desk. Of course a new manager was on duty Andrea Mcleod who was unable to explain the additional charge, she stated maybe he just rounded up to the nearest hundredth. When asked if this was their normal protocol she stated no. Andrea also explained the repersenative had mad an error and booked us for the wrong room and its nothing she could do. We were notified after requesting our car be brought up that valet charge was not$65 as we were previously told but $75 every 24 hours and $75 everytime the car is taken out and brought back. We were directed to speak with the manager Andrea again only to be told well I guess you can call the owners reservation number and ask for a manager, it was late when you checked in so Steven could have been tired and it doesnt show you are owners in the system. I had to ask her are you serious, so what if it had we would have recieved better treatment, not been overcharged?? We have been owners since 2003, and have never experienced anything like this. The room is small, carpet dirty with rips through out, staff unprofessional. After staying here it has made us consider selling. We are currently looking for another hotel, horriable just horriable!
For poor management and customer service. The list:All the public printers didnt workThe $25 resort fee was explained 4 different ways 4 different times.Didnt tell me about resort fee at check inCharged me incorrectly regarding the report feeshower and TV were difficult to operateChecking out took too long and I could tell computer system wasnt easy/working well.Wouldnt help with a double booking (no show fee)I read the response from the hotel and the problem is I was told about the fee but lied to about using hotel credit towards the fee. I spent money in the hotel after having been told it would go towards the $25 resort fee and therefore the resort fee could be used as credit for services. However, I was charged for BOTH the service fee and the hotel services. Basically I was told by 3 different employees something that was not true.
This hotel is well placed on 42nd street near 2nd Avenue, just a short walk from Grand Central station and Times Square. Unfortunately it has gone downhill a bit since it was the Manhattan Hilton. The rooms are comfortable but a bit tired and the windows were filthy, I know its a high rise building in a city but surely they have a way to clean the windows. At the time of writing (June 2019) it only possible to book room only but you can get breakfast in the hotel if you are prepared to pay $35 per person! A bit steep I think, but you can get a lovely breakfast much cheaper from the diner just a couple of blocks up 2nd Ave.The staff are friendly and helpful enough. Free Wi-fi is only available in the lobby but, if you want wi-fi in your room it will cost you $10 - $15 per day.
The greatest neighborhood to live when visit the NYC. Close to Chrysler Building, Grand Central and many more.... Our staying was really good. Staff was very friendly and we really enjoyed all the suggestions they made to us for diner, breakfast and lunch. Helpful finding a taxi and really kind and polite. Room view not so good ...
First queen room spelled moldy. Requested another room and was upgraded to a king room which was much better but trying to sleep was challenging with constant noises esp from the AC unit which seemed as though someone was breaking in the room. Hotel needs upgrading. Staff was very friendly and helpful though.
We are very disappointed about almost everything. The rooms are very small, half of the hotel is in construction and it is very noisy, we couldn’t sleep at all and nobody told us about that when we booked the room even if we paid the biggest price. And after we had the breakfast they said that we need to pay 70$ extra for that. They also promised a nice view but all the rooms are like that.
ITS TRUE ABOUT THIS HOTEL CHARGING YOUR CREDIT CARD . I booked for a trip and canceled a few days after booking. My trip was months away so I was within my time frame to not be charged. Its July and I have a charge for this hotel. Again, I never stayed and canceled my reservation in the same week I created the reservation. This is how they make money and claim its a glitch. Please check your card during and after booking your trip if you stay. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE.
Nice hotel. Very nice and attentive staff. Very reasonably priced. I do recommend to look for parking and breakfast options elsewhere. Mainly since you can find better deal for the money. As for hotel itself, its a good find. Close to Grand Central and tourist attractions.
It’s impossible to get your hotel bill from this place, which means you can’t file an expense report and you will incur late fees on your credit card. Daily calls and even filing a “lost and found” report has accomplished nothing. Look at Yelp - you will see many others with the same experience. The lack of service once they already have your money is unbelievable.
My significant other and I booked a room at this hotel weeks in advance. When we arrived, the person at the front desk asked us for a card to put the security deposit on, did not ask how much it was or anything. Then as we leave to get an uber, my partners card fails. Come to find out, they charged us 200 dollars when its supposed to be 50 dollars a night. Which fouled up our entire trip because we needed to travel and that demolished funds. So we had to go to a family member for help out of humiliation. We were not notified of this information whatsoever. We then ask for assistance from the manager who then tells us nothing can be done to assist us and that wed have to wait. She offered us a breakfast in the morning for the extra hundred dollars they took from us on the deposit. Then that night, construction in an elevator was happening at 2:30 am, and woke us both up.Then the next night, an unscheduled fire alarm test went off around 4 am and scared us half to death. On top of all this, you need to pay for wifi. We spent already around 500 dollars at this 4 star hotel, and they cant offer free wifi like the Starbucks where one can get a cup of coffee for 5 dollars at has.The 4 star review this place holds is shocking to me.Needless to say, this place is of the worst Ive ever experanced and was a complete let down. I would strongly suggest going elsewhere unless this place shows an honest rating of 1 to 2 stars so people know what to expect. And also can get their staff in order to help people out they put under misfortunes. I work in customer service professionally and this is not how you conduct business.Look elsewhere.
This place is garbage. They over charged me over $200 from my original charge. I had my booking receipt, the receipt from when i checked out and what i was actually charged and they are 3 different totals. I knew parking was an additional charge but thats $75. Theres at least $100 additional fees. No one will return my calls, no one can seem to help me and they have no email contact. Ive traveled and stayed in A LOT of hotels and have never had so much trouble. This is atrocious and to boot they dont offer complimentary Wi-Fi.Update:Someone also reached out by replying to this review, clearly without reading what I wrote, saying they hoped I addressed this with the front desk. The fees were charged on my card AFTER I checked out and are all wrong. Still, days later, no one has returned my calls or given me any resolution.
Checked in and lobby was decent. Room is mediocre and not a bottle of water or glass to be found to have a drink. Called front desk and asked if I was missing something and they said hotels don’t offer water and I could come down to the front desk and get some. I’m in my pajamas and just out of the shower. Asked for water to be brought up and was told no one was on staff to bring it right away. It would be a while. We’ll see......awful experience. We
This is place is fantastic! I do a lot of travel and worked in the hospitality industry for years, spent time in bad hotels and good. I would put the Westgate at the top of my list of hotels to stay at. It was clean, comfortable, and close to everything i needed. I will be coming back!
This is no longer a Hilton property. They charge $25 per day, use it or lose it, to buy crappy snacks and packaged meals. No restaurant, no operational bar. Great when it was a Hilton ... now it doesnt appeal to the business Traveller, but the tourist croud. They call it a resort??? Anywho ... I digress. The people were awesome at the hotel, and that was the great part!
Worst Westgate experience Ive ever encountered! Upon arrival my room was not as described when I booked over the phone, nor do the pictures represent the actual dated rooms. I went to the front desk and advised them about my room and also advised that I am a Westgate owner of multiple units in Florida, The manager was friendly and she did move my room to what I was originally advised, the room was larger however it was just as dated and did not include wifi (which I could have purchased for an additional $25 a day) aside from the dated room and the wifi, the tv barely had any channels so there was no such thing as just being lazy and staying in watching tv, the heat went down everyday so every evening I had to call and request it be fixed again, I ended up coming back to my room to find a small electric heater plugged into the living room. So every day I had to complain, everyday I had to have people coming into my room to fix things and it honestly ruined my entire trip to NYC. What was supposed to be a getaway for relaxation turning into 4 days of hell. Kevin asked me upon exiting about my experience I advised him of the above concerns he told me he was sorry and would see what he can do, I guess theres nothing he can do considering its been almost 2 weeks and I havent heard anything from the hotel. Terrible, definitely does not live up to the Westgate name.
Room was.. Meh. For the price in Manhattan, I think it was pretty good. What has bothered me is their accounting procedures. Their invoicing doesnt quite square and trying to file an expense report with an invoice that doesnt add up correctly is tiresome, but trying to get in touch with them to address the matter is impossible. Between getting hung up on and endlessly transferred I still havent been able to reach someone to address their accounting errors. Watch your statement closely.
This is the former Hilton Grand Central hotel, so it has an awesome location within New York. Plenty to do and eat/drink within a small area around the hotel. Room amenities and experience is one of a kind! I mean, its New York so there is no limit to what you can or want to do. This hotel is right in the middle of all of it.
I am Giving this Hotel 2 Stars because the Lobby is a sight to see ! However as I went to my floor instantly I got the smell of Mold & Must following. up with a pretty small room! despite all of that upon me checking out , The fire Alarm continuously went off in My room , From me taking a Hot shower , Hotel security Never mentioned his name But he was the head of security and he was very unprofessional , He insinuated that there was smoking going on in the room HE DID NOT DIRECTLY SAY THAT I WAS SMOKING he said it without saying it , the alarm went off at least 5 times , in the mist of me and My boyfriend trying to shower so that we can head back to college , after speaking with some very upset employees ( they were upset because head of security was very rude to Not only them but me ) I walked to front desk to confront the issue and over heard head of security speaking Foul of me ,Because I was not able to answer the phone when he called for the 2nd time because I was heading down stairs to him , I feel that was Very unprofessional and I will not be returning to west gate ever again and I will tell everyone that I know to never stay at westGate .. Nice Decor I really appreciated the Decor in the hotel , as far as head of security he really Put a bad taste in my mouth . the reason I Checked into WestGate was because I was celebrating my birthday in NYC for the first time. IT was my first in Time in NYC and this hotel simply gave me bad VIBES for NYC all around I AM a paying customer I expect to be treated better in a 4 STAR HOTEL . . furthermore I did not receive any compensation ALL I got was a I AM SORRY WE MISTAKE STEAM FOR SMOKE . I thought a smoke detector was to detect SMOKE not steam , NEXT I was instructed to open a Window , while I shower what sense does that make, Then I was told in that specific room 1015 ALARM was very sensitive , By other employees . if they Knew that was the case WHY? NOT FIX IT .. That is all ...
Stayed there only one day. My ankle was sprained and I was on the crutches. The lobby guy was so rude to me. I asked for assistance / help so many times and he was like ... giving me the looks and everything. Then when I needed the ice. The ice machine - it’s only one in the entire building - didn’t work. When we called reception. Nobody have been picking up for 40 mins straight. Until one lady picked up and said I’ll bring it up there. 🤦🏼♀️ Nobody showed up 🤷🏼♀️ I had to be there with my sprained ankle and no Ice. Damn. Like this is crazy
Terrible experience, paid 300$ a night for this dump. No view, bathtub/jacuzzi does not work. Voice travels through doors, neighbours woke me up at 6am. Needed to pay an extra 70$ per day for breakfast. Couch is ripped, truly terrible value. I would rather take a motel than this place.
Good hotel in walking distance to GCT. Exceptionally nice staff. Clean and well maintained rooms. Wi-Fi was reasonably fast once established but then dropped the connection quite often. Facilities for breakfast and dinner just around zhe corner. 2 coffee and tea per day are included in the room rate and can prepared using a Senseo type coffee maker on the room. I recommend using bottled water for coffee. New York tap water is heavily chlorinated. No mini bar type fridges on the rooms but 3 ice cube machines on premise.
DO NOT STAY HERE- They Charge you $$$ ($200-$300) even if you cancel your booking 2-3 days before you checking date. they do not refund you even if you cancel because health issue you cannot travel and had to cancel.I am going to make sure share this on all social media, they are simply stealing your money.
I visited for work so I didnt stay over. However, I must commend the staff for their friendly disposition and how they made my visit/ work as easy as I could wish for. With my experience that day, I am certain their patrons will be in for a treat. The only reason Im not giving them a 5 start is because my stay was to brief to see it all.
Check in was easy and quick, front desk lady was very helpful and concerned about accomodating us in a bit larger room with aditional sleeping sofa. Room was clean, very comfortable bed and pillows. Close to Grand Central Station. So we are recomending it forward. 👍🏼Checked in July 21, 2018.
Ok to get your head down after a busy days sightseeing. Staff where nice and friendly. Rooms need a little tlc, wifi is a bit pricey at $9.99 a day in your room!! Cheaper to pay international roaming data from your own country which mine is uk on ee £4.80 for 500mb daily!
People be aware that this hotel is over charging credit cards !!! I stood there for one night and they charge me twice $85 dollars and without any explanation, I have been asking them and they keep transferring me to different extensions and my money still gone!!!Another issue , if you sleep on the left side of the building construction noise start at 6:00am
The head of fire safety needs a reality check, very rude, and assumes that you are smoking when their faulty fire detection acts up. Absolutely terrible, ruined my experience, btw I couldn’t even take a hot shower without the alarm going off. Really terrible never again
Great location 10 minute walk to times square lovely hotel cleaned daily we got a lovely room on the 10th floor nice and spacious also a Jacuzzi bath if you fancy fine big bed with plenty of space 2 minute walk to grand central station to take you to all tourist attractions very user friendly great stay all round thank you!

2022-01-16Pleasantly surprised by this gem. Clean and fairly spacious rooms. Comfortable beds for sure! Drawback: no type of free continental breakfast. I appreciate a coffeemaker in the room except the one in our room was terrible. It worked OK first morning and not the second. The water discharged into cup but the coffee did not release from the filter pod and it tasted like hot water. Hotel staff were helpful. Unfortunately the woman working the bar area never wore her mask up over her mouth and nose. She kept it under her chin. I would definitely stay here again. Loved the close proximity to Times Square. I recommend Zuckers for a close by restaurant to get a deliciously authentic NY bagel.

2022-06-01Highly recommend! My husband and I stayed here back and April with friends and loved it so much we decided to stay again during our visit last weekend. The staff both times were exceptional! The rooms were spacious compared to other hotels weve stayed at in Manhattan. The location is great because youre close to everything, but youre not in a super touristy area.We cant wait to stay here again!

2021-12-27We stayed at the hotel Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. It’s beautifully decorated for the holidays with impeccable detail. I have stayed in many hotels and this is in one of my favorites in terms of designs and proximity to all important places for me in the city. I absolutely love the renovations and thought put into the decor while preserving its historical features.I’m giving this hotel a 4 star because I felt like the check in could have been a lot more welcoming. We were left to figure out where the gym was by ourselves. Room service line wasn’t answered when we needed help so we had to go downstairs to reception and also the rooms were on the smaller side.Would stay at this hotel again.

2022-04-14Stayed here with my 12 year old daughter and we had a great stay. Rooms are updated, stylish interiors all around, courteous and helpful staff, great location and rates. We would absolutely come here again. The only negative was the water pressure in the shower is not great. But thats a tiny detail compared to everything else. Loved this hotel!

2022-02-18One of the best lodging experiences I have had in NYC! The rooms were clean, the location was great, and the check in process was easy. The staff was really what made it a wonderful experience for me. Jose and Chalik who work in the front desk could not have been more helpful, they really made the experience worth while. I will definitely be staying here again when I come back to NYC.

2022-04-17Loved this hotel. Very close to everything in Midtown..within walking distance. Staff was very nice and helpful as well. Rooms are really well kept. Had to wait an hour or so to get my room but staff was able to give voucher for the bar in lobby. Didn’t mind waiting as the staff promptly kept me updated and were very friendly about the wait.

2022-01-23Overall, just ok.The good- location! A short walk to Grand Central Station and easy walk to Times Square, etc… Very friendly bar staff- for both coffee in the morning and drinks at night. Pretty good deal for a room in midtown Manhattan. However, we booked the “recently updated luxe queen room”, and if that’s the room we were in, that update failed miserably. It’s NYC, so rooms are small, but these are also outdated and felt old/dirty in the sense everything had been there for awhile - this is not your spot if you want anything luxurious. This is your spot for an inexpensive option when you don’t plan to be in the room much. The shower gel we were given in our room was half empty (I assume previously used?) and the towels had a hair on them. Small things that perhaps some can forgive, but didn’t improve our impression at all.Overall, not impressed. It was fine for a weekend stay, but I much-prefer other midtown hotels.

2022-04-04We arrived at this hotel in our car to be greeted by a doorman who immediately told us it would be $75.00 to valet park our car. I was dismayed because the website states, the parking would be included. This was one of the reasons I chose Westgate Grand Central. I had a car full of my family and my 83 year old father with me. I was told I had to speak with the Manager, I went in and spoke with Kevin. He was very helpful and had this charge removed. Keven was very reassuring and apologized for the confusion. He hen helped to assist us to our rooms and our luggage was brought up right away as well. Our stay was very pleasant. The Hotel is beyond beautiful and very clean. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. The staff was very friendly. I love the Tudor City neighborhood and I felt like a local New Yorker. The doormen were very helpful as well asking us if we needed assistance. I thought the marketplace was good option for late night snacks. I cant wait to visit New York again, My family feels the same and there is no other hotel for us but this one. Thank you Kevin and Westgate Grand Central for a lovely visit.

2022-03-14This place was just amazing, the staff were so friendly, the rooms were nice and big (for New York) the location was just incredible. You get to be in the city without the noise and busyness of Times Square. The accommodations were excellent. Initially booked on Hotwire and I came across many issues with that site but the hotel ensured that my stay was stress free and enjoyable! I will definitely be booking here again! Don’t sleep on this spot! A hidden gem!

2022-05-22Really nice hotel. Staff very friendly nice bar Rooms are updated and clean. Beds are comfortable. Nice wood floors no smelly old carpets and the best is the windows open so you can get fresh air on The 15th floor amazing!!! Great location on 42 st nice quiet area but in 5 blocks your in the heart of times Square
