WestHouse Hotel New York in New York
Really cool hotel! Cant wait to stay again. Nice size room for 2 people (the suite). Shower/bath was very nice, could have been a little bigger/roomier. Comfortable bed/bedding. CLEAN. Friendly staff and knowledgeable. Great location for Broadway. Lots of good eats around. Breakfast sucked. Typical free help yourself buffett. Good coffee though. Hotel bar was not open. That kind of sucked. It did suck.Got hit with a $50.00/day charge not sure what for. Need to call them. Now. Gotta go. Bye.Mrs. H.
I love this hotel and am a regular, however beware of the gym. It’s amazing but shared with park place. There were about 10-12 kids running around in there and ruined the workout for any adults. I tried to get it on video but the kids saw me and I had to run outta there. I would suggest an age limit.
Positive: I loved the Terrace on the 23rd floor with coffee access all day. The balcony and breakfast were also great from the terrace. The staff also watched my bags after I checked out until my flight. Great Hotel! Negative: The elevators were slow but nothing major. I had a great experience.
The staff was nice and the rooms clean. The location next to a Subway station and near Times Square is optimal. However, the breakfast was disappointing. The coffee machine was never working and there was little to choose from. It seemed like no one was working there because towards the end of breakfast, nobody refilled the food. You have to grab water bottles from a fridge in the breakfast area yourself if you want more because there is no room service whatsoever. Overall, the hotel feltlike a 3-star hotel.
This hotel had a great location in midtown close to Central Park, nearby multiple subway stations, and not too close to Times Square. Service was great and had no issues. The room itself got very hot at night and getting a comfortable temperature at night was difficult. Also was not impressed with breakfast at all for this hotel. Overall would recommend for the location and quality of service.
The breakfast is very complete and delicious. The people at the reception and the cleaners are great and kind. The room is nice but it is a 5 star hotel and the room is too warm even you do not have the heating on. It is December and we have to sleep with the window open. Also the room has no enough light. The wardrobe doesn’t have light. That’s weird.
PROS: friendly staff great location complimentary breakfast followed by complimentary beverages fruit and salty snacks in communial kitchen and terrace until 6pm.Cons: no attendant to help with baggage.Extremely firm mattresses with Extremely stiff sheets and flat pillows.Room decor is dated and worn out.Bathroom fixtures are rusted and oxidized. No microwave in room or common area.No vending machines or ice makers.Kettle and tea upon request only.Guest must obtain towels and toiletries from carts located near elevators on each floor.Lobby is a total waste of space equipped with several cocktail tables lounge seating and an unattended large bar stocked with empty liquor bottles and decorative only glassware.
Best value in NYC! I looked high and low for a reasonable hotel and WestHouse blew it out of the water. Beautiful, clean rooms and an overly accommodating staff. Great location in Midtown. We will definitely be back and I am sure it will earn an additional star once the bar is opened post-covid!
Do not bring your dog. The hotel website lied. There will not be a bed available for them, the bowl that they give you will be paper bowls, and there is no partnership with professional services for a dog walker. Instead, they will suggest you use the Rover app….I’ve only been here an hour and I’m already regretting it.Definitely nowhere near a five star hotel experience.
We were wondering why this hotel had such lower review rate compared to its neighbor hotels... When we stayed and experienced at the hotel, we understood. The hotel is only selling because of its location. You even have to carry your luggages to and from your room to the reception. The guest services are really bad. You cant even get a pair of slippers when you request
Wanted to love this boutique hotel but just too many little things about the hotel that drag it down. First off service is friendly and no issues with the staff on site.1. Rooms are very small. Booked a Lux King and was still tiny, can’t imagine the size of a king room2. Rooms showing wear on lamps, blinds and other areas like a three star hotel3. Terrace area at breakfast is awesome as is the food. But outdoor seating is that nice wicker that should have thick cushions but they were never put out for the four days I was there. So you are sitting so low and it’s very uncomfortable.4. Had booked 8 nights as family was going to join halfway through. So I called a week in advance and asked if I should upgrade to a suite. Was told no need as we will press sign you a lux king with a pull out couch. I offered to pay more and they said no need. Arrived and told that was not the case and not available. So left early and went to the newly renovated Westin Grand Central which is amazing and over $300 less per night with free breakfast as well.Bonus is I wasn’t charged the resort fee when checking out, thinking it’s because of the issues.Note: even if it doesn’t have a bar and restaurant. This property is connected to its sister property the Park Central with a door next to the elevators and its bar is excellent.
We had a 10/10 experience at WestHouse this past weekend. The Terrace is incredible, the staff is very friendly and helpful, and the amenities in the room were perfect for our group. The location is in walking distance or is a very inexpensive cab/Lyft ride away from most of the sights in NYC. The complimentary breakfast in the mornings were fantastic and had a great coffee machine that was accesible all day. We will definitely be back!
I had an amazing experience at the WestHouse Hotel! The staff was very friendly and accommodating (especially Ashley at the front desk)! The room was great, and the location was excellent! The mimosas at brunch were a really nice touch too! Can’t wait to come back!!! Thanks again for a great stay!
As others have said: not a 5 star hotel, not a luxury hotel and not a boutique hotel. It is a run down large hotel with bad service and mediocre rooms. The bad surprises kept coming durong our stay, I dont understand how anyone could leave a honest good review, I am pretty sure they buy them. The staff is abrasive and argumentative, instead of finding solutions they try to blame the low standards of the hotel on the guest. It seems trivial, but there is no one to open the very heavy revolving door and help with luggage - not ok if you declare to be a 5* hotel. The rooms are dated and dirty, fingerprints on the mirrors and light switches, stains on the cushions, disgustingly dirty windows, we even found a dead fly on the coffee table..it was there even after they cleaned the room on the second day - the barely made the bed and left us with no towels or shower mat. The AC unit looks like its from the 60s and makes a noise so loud it is impossible to sleep. The city view is an insult - our windows looked at a wall and into other hotel rooms. They still tried to say theres a partial view of 7th ave.. you see a corner of scaffolding if you stick your neck out. There is no amenities kit, just a soap bar and hand lotion. Nowhere to put your toothbrush. No kettle and coffe/tea in the room. None of this would be cause of complaint if this was a 3* hotel but for a 5* at over 400USD a night its a flat out scam. Apparently its listed on airbnb as well..as no luxury hotel ever would. Its beyond me how anyone would find this ok - if you stay at a 5* youll know this place isnt, its a money grabber. As others commented, they even have compulsory extra charges for wifi and breakfast to raise your bill further. I can also confirm the underwhelming breakfast in a canteen-like overcrowded room, with soggy pastries, stale bagels, rotting strawberries, and disposable cups (imagine the environmental cost), boxed fruit juice (not fresh) and a disgusting instant coffee machine...no cutleries or table cloths, you have to set your own table, the staff clears the tables by throwing disehs in a plastic trolley. Nothing about this is 5*, I would not complain if this was listed thurutfully as a 3* hotel. Stay away!
Positive: I really liked the location of the hotel. Negative: When we arrived to our room, it had a funny smell. When I sat down in the chair by the window, there was a large red stain in front of it. Obviously someone has vomited abs it left a bright red stain. We called downstairs and not once did they offer to us
We had to cancel our hotel for our upcoming stay. After several phone calls, I was able to reach someone and when I asked for them to send me confirmation of the cancellation, she HUNG UP on me. I called the hotel again the next day and again, after several phone calls, I was routed to Ryan at Guest Services at Park Hyatt which shares the building with Westhouse. Ryan (he was amazing) was able to view my reservation and told me that it had, unfortunately, never been cancelled! He took my information and sent a message to Westhouse to cancel my reservations and send me a confirmation email. 7 hours after, I still did not receive a confirmation of the cancellation so I called...again. After several tries, I was rerouted back to Ryan (still amazing) and he kept me on hold until he was able to reach someone at Westhouse....30 minutes later. He said he spoke to Armani at Westhouse front desk and she said she was busy checking in guests and that no managers were working today. Ryan was able to get Armani to cancel my hotel reservations and Im still waiting for the email. As much as I hated to cancel my trip to NYC, I am so glad not to have given my business to Westhouse. They have certainly lost a potential customer and I would never consider them again. My note to the manager, Monica Campion: revamp your customer service training and hire enough competent people to run a high end hotel. To Westhouse Management: find a new GM.
If your visiting Manhattan as a tourist the WestHouse hotel is a very good option for a number of reasons. First its located a couple of city blocks from Central Park, within walking distance of Times Square and the Museum of Modern Art, and close to many other tourist spots. Second the rooms and public areas are nice and modernly decorated. Third the included breakfast, served on the 23rd floor, has a variety of options to suit an array of appetites. If it wasnt for a few items like multiple mirrors that need to be replaced, due to age, and a few other minor maintenance items this hotel would have received 5 stars.
Very poor management. We travelled to NYC with my wife and my two sons (one is a baby) to celebrate my wife’s birthday. I booked a one bedroom suite because their website showed a second sink that is important for use to wash and stick baby bottles. They placed us in a room with a different layout that didn’t have the additional sink. One of the managers offered to switch us in another room, but I will have to wait for two nights. On the night we were supposed to do the switch, I was told to give up my room and the new room will be ready at 12. At 12 they told me the room isn’t ready and need to be cleaned at 1 pm. At 1 pm they told me it is still not ready and will be ready at 3 pm. At 3 pm I was told 5:30 pm. At 5:30 pm I was told 6 pm. At 6 pm they told me the new room has an electricity issue and they are not sure when it will be ready. All this time I was stuck with a 8 year old and a 1 year old in their breakfast area for 7+ hours because my original room was no longer available to me according to the front desk staff. The breakfast are was not kid friendly and my 1 year old ended up hurting his head when he took a break from the stroller and started to walk around the area. I asked to see the manager three times and each time they called her she wouldn’t pick up. The front desk staff has to run to the back looking for the manager (which took 15 minutes each time) while I’m waiting with a 8 year old and a baby in the lobby. I wasted my entire day staying in their breakfast area in NYC and when I tried to get a GM email to complaint, it was never provided to me. Bottom line, I will never stay in here again.
This is more like 3 star hotel. The hotel quality, management and operations is very low end. Its a nice building that is poor managed. Wait is the lobby for over an hour to check in. 1 lady overwhelmed working the desk. Breakfast is a standard 2-3star small buffet. Self serve. Messy tables because few kitchen and cleaning staffI made the reservation 3 month in advance for 2 Executive suites. I chose this hotel because it was across the street from Carnegie Hall and as hosting Carnegie Hall performer. We needed the suite for the extra space for hair and makeup artists the afternoon before the shows. I confirmed several times with the Sales Director and had confirmations of the bookings so there would be no issues. Westhouse messed up the booking despite the many follow-up and confirmations. They one had 1 Executive suite and force us to take a much smaller room that could not properly accommodate the show prep. They were still going to charge us the the Executive suite rate for the much smaller room and reluctantly changed to the going rate for the small room. Sale Director basically said if you dont like you can stay somewhere else as they were sold out. Of course so was everywhere else.Try somewhere else. The management is terrible
Update to my review. After finally hearing back from the hotel via email (because their phones still do not work), they indicated I will be charged a late cancellation (cost for one night) because policy says you need to cancel within 48 hours. That would be fine except their website VERY clearly states Free Cancellations through June 30th, 2022 with no additional information whatsoever. No asterisks indicating there are caveats, or anything anywhere else addressing this. It even says Free Cancellation again on the next page when you select the room you want and again no additional information. Highly misleading and now I am out over $500 because they cant properly outline their policies in a clear and easy to find way. Feels like false advertising.
Nice hotel in the middle of NYC. We booked a deluxe one bedroom suite and we’re just amazed by the views. I wish the balcony rooms had chairs so we could sit outside and enjoy the views. I also wish they had robes in the rooms. A couple of the fixtures in our room needed some touch ups as well as the mirror. Overall we were satisfied with our stay. It was easy to walk to almost anywhere we wanted to go. Times Square was probably a 15 min walk, Central Park was about 6 mins, and the Rockefeller Center was about 8 mins. The amenities was a little lacking as far as room service goes but the terrace was a great option for refreshments. Ryan was very helpful and accommodating during our entire stay. Our room was quiet and peaceful. Would likely stay again.
Excellent lodging near everything that makes NYC awesome!! The staff is phenomenal and VERY courteous with exceptional facilitation of nearly anything you could ask for (pending COVID restrictions, of course). Great place to stay if you want to be near it all and still use a fitness center!! Thanks for being awesome Park Central!!!!
We made a last minute decision to book a room in NYC since we got tickets to go see beetlejuice at the winter garden theater. The hotel is a 6 min walk away from the theater. At first glance the hotel didn’t really look like the pictures online since there is major construction going on around it. We arrived at around 2pm, our queen bed room was not ready , but they offered to upgrade us to a double queen room that was ready for no additional fee. The room was very cute, I love the black and white bathroom and the beds were comfortable. They have a 5-7pm happy hour which we went to after the show. I really wish the terrace would have been open, I think it would have been cool to sit outside. They also include a breakfast in your stay which we were very pleased with. Plenty of great options and the coffee machine is great! I would definitely consider staying at this hotel again for my future visit to NYC.
Positive: Good facilities, including breakfast. Wonderful view of Manhattan - if you get the right room. Nice location near Central Park.Room for improvement: Rooms were a bit noisy; could for instance clearly hear doors opening and closing and people talking in the hallway. We had two rooms which came at the same price; one had a wonderful view of Manhattan; the other had a not so wonderful view into another room/apartment (it faced the - quite dark - courtyard).
Ive stayed here several times and absolutely LOVE Westhouse! Cannot wait to return when restrictions are loosened! Beautiful rooms, great accommodations and exceptional breakfasts and happy hours....HOWEVER this house would never have been considered my home away from home without the guidance from the FRONT DESK! Moe, if you are reading this please reach out! I believe in NYC and I believe in Westhouse.....Cannot wait to visit again as soon as the restrictions are uplifted.....you will not be disappointed....look for Moe! He will take good care of all your
From the time we arrived Ashley at the front desk warmly greeted us with a big smile! She gave us a beautiful room on the 22 floor.Yes there is construction & scaffolding out the window but the workers were very mindful of the guests privacy. The view was still amazing. The room was spacious, beautifully decorated & very clean. The breakfast buffet was delicious & Happy hour a nice touch! As a flight attendant I travel the world & would definitely recommend this hotel!!Please tell Ashley Carol sent you😊
My stay at this hotel was quite lovely. I was somewhat distraught when I arrived and Juan handled me and the situation beautifully. He offered me a complimentary upgrade. My room was fantastic...large and clean. The bedding was incredible. I slept so well that I would love to purchase the mattress and bedding and such. Complimentary Happy Hour was so nice. Bartender Raphael was very welcoming and accommodating. Lite fare was perfect to tide us over until dinner. I would highly recommend this hotel. My only complaint? I would have loved to have received additional shower gel in my room for night two, as I had completely used it all up on night one. Yes, I do like my complimentary toiletries.
My husband and I stayed here for a night out in NYC for his birthday. Everything was absolutely perfect. Tarik, the front desk agent was super friendly. We were also really happy with our room.. it was huge and overall really nice with beautiful modern accents. Our favorite part was that the hotel has a happy hour from 5-7pm on the 23rd floor with free food, beer and wine. It was a great location and was within walking distance to our show. Would highly recommend!
Best experience. Guest Service Manager Juan is awesome. Sharp dresser pretty good looking, very professional demeanor. He made sure I received the best treatment. 23 floor serving breakfast and dinner is awesome. The terrace can’t be beat. Just eat lounge and sit on the terrace with a glass of wine and just enjoy yourself. My first time staying here. Will definitely refer others. It’s a great location. Walking distance to the best shops!! Evening are quiet so you will get a good nights sleep. Well kept clean updated rooms. Do yourself a favor and give it a try. I guarantee you won’t be disappointed.
Location is excellent and the rooms were very clean. The bed linens were like new and the pillows are comfy. The mattress is pretty good. Hotel staff are curteous and very attentive. Minor issue with thermostat. You can change temperature but not whether its heating or cooling. My room was slightly warmer than Id like in the winter and the only way I could lower the temperature was too turn it off and crack a window. Setting thermostat to 65 never cooled room. Overall great experience I highly recommend.
Love the Terrace roofdeck! I could have sat out there for hours taking in the view. Very clean hotel. Nice rooms. Great happy hour from 5 to 7. Hotel charges a $48 per person per night residency fee which I knew about ahead of time. Only negative is that the temperature controls n the rooms dont really work. My room became pretty hot during the night even though it was set on 65 (lowest it goes). You dont have the option between air conditioner/ heat. Overall a very nice hotel. But this one drawback might have an impact on if I would stay there again since I have trouble sleeping in a warm room. Otherwise Id give a 5 star rating.
Sad and disappointed. We made a reservation 4 month ago through the SLH, as members of the prestigious group.Small luxury hotel?, great view of the city?, terrace for breakfast and cocktails?, great service?... not quite...not fun to be in a suite where you can not open the curtains because the scaffolding covers even the view of the sky and since 9 am the crew of workers are at your window, not pleasant to expect a relaxed afternoon by the terrace because is closed due to remodeling. The small breakfast room was always packed, not very well supplied, unacceptable for a hotel that charges like a 5 stars and behaves like a 2 stars.Sorry to say that nobody contacted us to inform that the hotel would be in renovations, and after we addressed the situation the manager never contacted us for an apology or an adjustment of the fee.Very expensive fiasco.
I stayed at the WestHouse the night of August 11th. I could not have chosen a better hotel. My friends were staying at a nearby hotel that I didn’t want to stay at, so I went with WestHouse. When I arrived that morning of August 11th. The staff greeted me wonderfully and the check in process was super smooth. Both representatives that morning were so wonderful and personal! I’m very critical of customer service being that I work in the customer service industry, and I pride myself on my service. The representatives at the front desk were amazing! Instantly, I knew that I was staying at the right spot. The breakfast that’s included is wonderful. The hotel rooms were cute and the bed was super comfortable . I absolutely loved the bathrooms. Overall, the hotel has an elevated, intimate vibe which is awesome in a “city that never sleeps”.I will definitely stay at WestHouse again.
On a NYC trip with my two adult daughters. Best hotel experience ever. Between the complimentary breakfast and happy hour, we saved money eating out (especially for those who are looking for lighter fare). Staff was exceptionally helpful, in all areas of the hotel - from the bellman, main desk, cleaning staff, and wait staff in the terrace area (where breakfast and happy hour was located) were top notch. Our queen room was tight (no seating area with table), but that was the only minor ding. With the window closed, it was quiet for sleeping (a huge plus for me), even though you are square in the middle of midtown activity. The bathroom/shower amenities were wonderful. To top it off - the location was ideal - close to strolls in the park, walkable to theatres and Time Square, subway stops less than a block away in one direction, just a couple of blocks in the other. I will absolutely stay at the Westhouse for future NYC trips from now on. Highly recommended.
Hotel service and amenities are generally great. We were upgraded to a suite overlooking Times Square, which was amazing. The front desk personnel were extremely friendly, as was the bar staff. Sadly the breakfast was somewhat disappointing. The butter was sour and the chicken sausage had an very odd texture. Also, although I recognise that many hotels do it in NYC, the residence fee and the manner in which it is presented is a total joke. Everything should be upfront, not cloak and daggers.
It was just ok, do not see how hotel is a five star hotel. The rooms were really small and bathrooms were even smaller. Made it hard for a family of four to move around and be functional. My biggest complaint was the air circulation, the overall hotel was really stuffy, and the rooms were hot and even opening a window in October made it impossible to get fresh air. The main hotel lobby bar was almost never open making it hard to enjoy the hotel on top of the air issue. We ended up having to leave because of no open bar or restaurant. They do serve free breakfast and “happy hour” on a floor inside the hotel. The breakfast was good but again the air quality was horrible making it unenjoyable. The “happy hour from 5-7 was ok, but wish they would have it in the larger lobby area. The location was good though, we wanted to be close to the park and subway which this was both. I don’t think I would book another stay here though.
Hello fellow farmers! My sweetheart and I chose planet earth for our temporary stay, and in this case; WestHouse Hotel. With luxury and occasionally free alcohol and food, we enjoyed our stay among marbled bathrooms and large, comfortable beds.We didnt understand much of the TV, but the elevator lived up to the expectations of a journey through space, time and floors.Good drinks at the bar, made by Rafael himself, made our stay an exceptional memory. We would highly recommend this place to future travelers with the warmest greetings!Go by peace✌🏻
Had THE BEST experience! Ive traveled a lot and have stayed at many hotels in my life and this was the best experience weve ever had at one. We stayed there 4 months ago now, and my husband and I still talk about it. The location is absolutely ideal. Oh and the amazing signature smell throughout the lobby. My goodness it is heaven! The staff were all beyond accommodating as well. Will DEFINITELY be back.
This is the best Hotel I been , and the biggest surprise was the price.away to much what we did expect, the make me feel like a king.the room was amazing, never expect to have a balcony, all the rooms has door.like an apartment. the aura hug you to feel save, and the station right below the building, very good breakfast free.definitive will go again
5 star Hotel but I can only give 4 stars. I mentioned we were celebrating my wifes birthday and the manager emailed they would surprise her with a gift.. After a reminder they dutifully honoured their offer.Theres work on the exterior of the building when we went and walking in your room in the 20th floor you dont really want to be greated by 2 guys working on a scaffold drilling just outside your window. The workers finished at about 4 pm and didnt work the weekend which was a blessing. The city is busy and noisy... Its just the way NY is... But Id have expected the windows to have drowned out more of the cities natural sounds (beeping and sirens) which are present throughout day and night. The breakfast was really good. One of the waiters / hosts is called Victor... Great guy and he will look after you.Id also upgrade to the buffet between 5-7pm the food is good and you can drink as much as you want.Location is great and time Square is only about 5- 10 minutes walk away. Tanners bar is opposite and a must especially if the live band is on. Madison Square Garden is about 20 mins walk and similar distance to central park.Rooms are very spacious beds are extremely comfortable.Include the breakfast and the evening drinks / buffet.
This is more like a service apartment than a hotel!!! My experience was rather disappointing as I had expected a 295 sq foot room with a city view but the first room i was given at 6.30 pm was a corner room with barely space for 2 of us and our luggage?????? Luckily because we complained they agreed to change our room but still not as what we wanted but being late in the night and tired went to sleep in a room slightly bigger room that barely fitted the luggage and us.We again complained and they promised to change our room on day 2 to a bigger room but not to the one we expected. There is a very small dining area for the house guest for breakfast which was simple but good but very crowded and people bumping into each other and not enough sitting place and people trying to hold on to their tables while refilling their plates. The house keeping service was found wanting especially in the night as they didnt seem to have people? It took them 45 mins to deliver bottled water ?At the time of checking out I expressed my views and the front desk promised to ask the GM/Senior manager would call me for my feed back ,which I am still waiting for??? Though he did waive a days resident fee charges with a promise to give me a better rate the next time I am in NY but not sure I would go back! The staff is definitely friendly, courteous ,The rooms are clean but the bathrooms small. The location could be the only reason one would want to stay here. The 3 stars was for the less than expected room, but otherwise it would be a$ star rating for the location and cleanliness and the staff.
Very nice hotel, lobby with great seating. Staff very professional and helpful. Accomodations were quite roomy and comfortable. We did need to switch rooms (after we made the request) - thank goodness it was not completely booked. Our first room didnt get below 76 even with the a/c cranked up on high. The staff was very responsive, sent the maintenance staff to see what they could do, but it was still hot - there was a standing fan in the room when we arrived - guess that is indicative of an ongoing issue (some other reviews indicated issues with cooling power as well). Any way our second room was a more comfortable temp. I give a 4 because we were able to get a second room
Awesome little hotel at a convenient location with breakfast and light dinner included and served on the 23rd floor. The Terrace is open until 8pm, so you can enjoy the views while having a glass of wine during dinner. Pricing is OK, rooms are nice with a good bathroom although the air conditioning and air circulation could be better - we had to open the window every day to get more fresh air in and the A/C was quite loud as the outside temperature was above 80F (+27C). Other than that no complaints and we very much enjoyed our stay here.
Nothing but great things to say about this hotel. I accidentally left my macbook in my hotel room as I was packing to leave and thought for sure I would never see it again, but the cleaning staff had taken it to lost and found after finding it. The staff were incredibly helpful when it came to locating it and sending it back to me. The place is clean and modern and well taken care of. Great complimentary breakfast as well. I would definitely stay here again!!!
The West House hotel provides an upscale stay for guests in midtown west. Note there is a resident fee per guest of roughly $50 for the amenities the hotel provides, this fee cannot be declined.Pros:Room was tidy and comfortably sized for being in NYC.The bathroom shower had a gap for turning on the shower without stepping in or grabbing your towel after finishing without needing to step out.The terrace level provides free drinks and food from 5-7pm each night and free breakfast each morning until 10:30am.Closet with safe, may be useful for international travelers.Cons:Thin walls, heard a baby crying in the middle of the night in the next room over.Terrace level seating not close to being large enough to comfortably accommodate all guests.Similarly, the front desk and elevators will experience longer wait times than what you might expect at a larger hotel chain due to how cramped the building is. 26 floors with roughly 12 rooms each floor.
Perfect NYC hotel in the heart of the city . Comfortable large rooms with everything you need for a great stay. Welcoming ,helpful pleasant staff who go that extra step .Big bonus with your stay is the wonderful happy hour each evening complete with beverages and food enough to tide you over until a later dinner . The breakfast brunch is all you could want and more . And did I mention the great staff? First time lucky ? Nope this is our second visit and this time we brought friends. Thanks WestHouse for another great NYC experience.
Very good modern clean hotel. Lovely helpful friendly staff. Bed was Very comfy with beautiful feel, bed linen. Shower is very good. Only criticism is No real space for ladies toiletries expect, on the floor in a very small bathroom. But overall a Very enjoyable experience.
We were upgraded to this hotel for free by lottery process. We booked a double queen room at the Park Central Hotel, and when we checked in the lady told us we were selected to be upgraded. It was nice because our room at Park Central had no included breakfast or anything, and this room was inclusive of breakfast and Light Dinner/drinks We went only once to breakfast, and it was granola, fruit, pastries, croissants, and yogurt. I think the next day it was hot - maybe scrambled eggs and sausage or something because i saw the heated servers sitting on the counter after. We also only made it to dinner once and they were offering breads with sliced meats, salad with mozzarella and tomatoes, different wines and champagnes, and two types of beer...Stella Artois and I think an IPA.Overall the hotel was nice, the staff was great. Negatives: 1) I thought it a bit strange there was no room service 2) our sink only ran HOT and COLD. There was no in-between. 3) Some of the details of the room made it look like it was cheaply done. One of the outlets barely fit our cords (took two of us several minutes each to finally get the plug to fit), One of the outlets was completely hanging out of the wall, and there were some other details that i noticed where it looked like bad workmanship by the workers putting the rooms together.Overall I am very happy with our stay given the free upgrade. I think if i came back with my kids, i would definitely consider staying again because i could save a lot of money on meals. I do wish they had better vegetarian selections though.
My wife, 18 month old daughter, & I stayed 12/7-12/9. We traveled by plane and our flight landed around 1pm at Newark. With check-in not until 3pm and the commute from Newark taking about an hr, we had an hr to burn, so I called to see if they could do early check-in for us. Keep in mind, were of baby. Not only were they not willing to fulfill our request, 3pm rolled around and our room wasnt ready. Finally, at 4pm I had to basically force them to do something. Their remedy was to give us a lesser room temporarily until ours was ready, which meant we had to move all of our luggage. Nonetheless, our room became available at 5ish. It was a big inconvenience and far from what was expected from accommodations with an $800/night price tag. That said, the room was nice and the location is fantastic. 5 stars, though? Not in my opinion.
I loved our night at the West House Hotel New York Hotel. It was New Years , we were celebrating the night at West House Hotel New York, 201 and found this hotel nice and close. It is so charming!! Everything was clean, the service very friendly, and the historic ambiance was adorable. The rooms are small and the hallways tight but that is just part of the experience. I cant say I would have wanted to stay for a long period of time here, but for our one night it was perfect!!
Our hotel away from home in NYC.Good breakfast, happy hour 5-7.Rooms are on the small side, but it’s NYC, most are.Washrooms clean.Watch out if your valeting your car.I’ve had my car damaged a few times, not by hotel staff, but by the garage attendants they park the cars at. This is a pretty hotel, with a nice staff and lovely, comfortable rooms. The manager is very accommodating and willing to work with you if you have a problem, which we had a lot of while we were there. The real issue is that it took the staff days to rectify these problems, which shouldnt happen at such a nice hotel. One of the room issues never did get resolved, which was definitely an annoyance during our trip. Lastly, I left an item at the hotel, and was told that housekeeping never throws anything away, yet my item never turned up in lost and found. Hmm... that seems to leave only one conclusion, doesnt it? Also, a pair of my step-fathers pajamas were taken from my parents room when housekeeping changed out the bed sheets, and he never got those back, either. Nice hotel, but apparently not nice enough for the housekeeping staff, as they like to hold onto things they find in the rooms. Also, there was no tub in our room, and as this hotel doesnt have a pool/hot tub area, it was hard to unwind after a long day of walking around NYC in the cold.
Not a five-stay hotel at all. More like 3. Normal amenities, like coffeemaker, bar, bathrobe, or snacks in room were all absent. There’s no room service or restaurant in the hotel…just a buffet breakfast and happy hour on the 23rd floor. If you need lunch or dinner, forget it. When I called “culinary,” it was for catered events only. I was transferred to the concierge so he could recommend a delivery service (I’m on crutches and in town for meetings). He didn’t answer his phone the first time or the second. I had to go down to the front desk, where the male clerk seemed irritable that I didn’t have a meal delivery app on my phone. He gave me a menu from a place way across town and suggested that I walk a few blocks to another place despite the fact that he could see I was on crutches. He was not very polite. Tristan at the front door was very helpful, so a shout-out to him.The room was clean, but the view was the shaftway and other room windows, so I had to draw the shade for privacy. The room was was clean. It was comfortable enough. That was all. But it was really bare-bones for what you usually get at a five-star hotel: no bathrobe or slippers; mediocre towels, lousy view, slow elevators. There’s not even an ice machine on any floor but the 22nd, and there are no plastic bags in the rooms or at the ice machine. The lack of coffee machine in the room and room service was really surprising. If you’re someone who travels for business or needs to spend time in a hotel room to work, I do not recommend this place at all. It’s New York. There are dozens and dozens of far better hotels for the same (or lower) prices.I’ve seen negative reviews of this hotel for the same reasons I list, and the auto response is that the manager will talk to the team. I’m dubious. I will be recommending that my company not use this hotel again.
I dont even have time to mention all the let downs while staying there.First of all they dont have any cutlery and not willing to assist in getting it.Its so weird not to even have cups, tea, spoons. That is usually standard at every hotel. I would understand if it was a hostel or a motel. But if youre paying 250-350+ per night, that is just unacceptable.A theme of the attitude of those working there was Its not my problem, figure it out yourself mentality.Calling front desk was always an issue, I was left on hold for 15 mins straight, then called back, and tried again, and was put on hold again. Then when I was checking out, it took over half an hour for someone to come help me with my luggage.I could go and on. I have never experienced anything like it.I have had much better experiences with. asian countries like Thailand and Philippines, for a fraction of the price. The only thing that was satisfactory was the cleanliness of the room, the maids were super pleasant.
Rooms were comfortable but overall this did not feel like a 5-star hotel experience. WestHouse is lacking in services and amenities that you would find in any 4-star NYC hotel. Furthermore, the terrace was closed and under construction during our stay, something that we would have appreciated knowing about before we booked.
The room is a lot smaller than what was pictured for my specific room. Other than that, the views are great and the room is comfortable. The staff was very nice and accommodating. They also surprise you with a 45 dollar per night, per person fee, so be careful when booking to make sure you can afford it.
We had a great stay while at West House. The staff was friendly and the room was excellent. We really didn’t want to leave. This hotel is really close to the subway and the main things we wanted to see during our trip. When we come back to New York, we will stay here again.
When we checked in, the receptionist was kind of cocky and standoff-ish. We politely asked if the breakfast is complimentary, he responded with theres nothing in life thats free. It was an unnecessary way to answer a simple question. The room we stayed at on the 23rd floor was way too hot. I understand the building is older and uses the two pipe system. But we called twice to complain since it was unbearable to sleep. The staff finally gave us a floor fan. The breakfast selection was also very underwhelming. They only had croissants cold cuts and cheese. Theres no scrambled eggs or sausages. I dont think we will return.
Breakfast would be poor even for a best western, had it once and it was awful. So many good breakfast options around the area though. Gym is reasonably good. Room seemed fine though very little natural light through the windows in rooms that face the internal well (room 2020)
The staff at WestHouse are excellent...However I would strongly advise against staying here as the rooms (at least the ones our group were in) were extremely hot--even as it was below freezing outside. We made several requests to the hotel to improve the situation and nothing happened. In the end I ended up sleeping with the window and the door to the hallway open...to get som cool air.The breakfast is great for one day but sorely lacks some fresh berries and non fried/sweet pastry ingredients.
Total rip off. I stayed here few nights with my wife. They charged us $80 a night resort fee Are you kidding me???? That is for breakfast which I never ate and a drink which I never had. I prefer to eat outside the hotel. I tried to speak to the front desk person and she would not budge. I said at least charge me $40 a night because that is how much they charge per person. Imagine if you have four kids that would be $240 a night for resort fee. I am disputing this charge on my credit card and not getting close this hotel. And it is not a 5 star hotel, it is 4 star at best.
Love the atmosphere in the hotel. The Decker was nice and it event smelled nice on there. The main reason I went there was to see the musical group Acute Infections perform in the lounge, they play there on Wednesdays. The service in the lounge was great, and the music was amazing. Lounge is conveniently located off the lobby steps from the front door.
It was our first time staying at this property. I would highly recommend it.Our check in was great , accommodations were amazing , staff go out of their way to help & location was fantastic. We were pleasantly surprised that breakfast was included & tea & buffet dinner as well. Cant wait to return
Really nice room with great shower! We had a lightbulb missing in a lamp which was odd and called to get it replaced and never had anyone show. The food was nice, except didnt have an alternative meat or vegetable option... only fish. Its basically an all inclusive, large drinks at a makeshift bar with mediocre attendant. Very communal seating also, not so much of a private dining experience. Additionally no room service.
This is my first time staying at the WestHouse hotel. It came highly recommended by a family member who frequently stays here on trips to New York and I can see why. Its in a fantastic location being only a short walk from many major destinations. The rooms are very nice and kept well cleaned, and the whole building has a welcoming feeling to it.
The hotel was absolutely fantastic with great ambience and comfort with high tea and happy hour thrown in for good measure. Housekeeping doesnt bug you. Fabulous amenities: a buffet breakfast and drinks and hors doeuvres at the end of the day. The location was so close to Central Park and near Times Squarewithout being right in the thick of tourists.
I had come to NY for the first time and stayed with a good friend of mine in Westhouse after booking through AirBnB.The stay was pretty good. There were some things that were mentioned as an added bonus seemed to good to be true! The free breakfast, the 5-7 happy hour and the lounge area, where at any time, you can go and relax and grab a coffee or beverage at no cost. We were told that all of those things were included in the price of the room that we rented. After all, the price on AirBnB should reflect the price mentioned on the website, right? No. There were so many hidden fees that we ended up paying double what we were suppose to. Thankfully AirBnB acted quickly refunded our hotel stay as Westhouse violated the terms of AirBnB.I also forgot a jacket that I purchased in Shanghai and when called to the lost and found there was no answer - three times! That jacket was pretty special to me and it looks like I will never get it back.Definitely call ahead and ask about their policies before booking or you might be screwed.
Love this place! Clean clean clean! Comfy bed, sheets, pillows get flat. The happy hour 5-7 is amazing!! The food is delicious, they served pealla, veggies, lots of cheese and meats, lots of red and white wine, becks, sodas. Limited food at the bar but lots of places to eat around the corner. 5 min walk to time square!
Not treated the way I expected from a “luxury” hotel. Arrived at 2 pm, but would not let me check in until 3. This was fine until 7 out of 7 other people in my group were allowed to check in early. I asked them again at 2:50 and they said I had to wait until 3. Immediately afterwards a line of guests all checked in before 3 and before me.
We booked this place through Magellan & did it deliver. After a scary taxi ride from JFK where the driver was literally falling asleep at the wheel, the check-in staff quickly made us feel safe and welcoming. Room was a great size for midtown and the bed was super comfy. Highly recommend staying here.
The prestige suite is the absolute best suite you can get in New York City for the view and affordability. Luckily, we got an upgrade to our room which was a huge advantage. Rooms were clean. The staff were very friendly. Will definitely be back when the xmas tree goes up.
Westhouse has been a very pleasant hotel to stay at. The acoomodstions have been wonderful and the rooms are luxuriously beautiful. The design and architecture inside is very modern and sleek. The restrooms are a tad small, but are made out of marvel so its not a big deal. I would definitely recommend this hotel!
We have stayed at WestHouse for our last 5-6 trips to NYC. Has never disappointed. Wanted to go 4 star on this only because I was looking forward to my children getting little bathrobes and milk and cookies as done before. I know 1st world problems. But I want to travel with my kiddos and let them enjoy a vacay! So 5 stars since really everything else about this boutique hotel is perfection.
A lovely hotel in the city. The 1920sv vibe that the staff mentioned is present is kinda nice. They have live jazz on Wednesday nights, the indulgence hours from 5-7 pm daily, which includes free beer and wine unlimited, and a nice complementary breakfast on the terrace each morning.
This review is overdue by a week yet I couldnt stop thinking about the amazing experience I had during my stay. First; I would like to highlight the fact that traveling as a single mother of an 11-yr old boy is a bit challenging and furthermore when my son had had a rough trip into NY. Nathan wasnt other than AMAZING and caring, him and the front desk staff gave him a refreshment and made our check in a smooth one; from coordinating lunch-delivery to having a taxi ready for our 7PM play their superior service is one to highlight. To also mention the hotels amenities I enjoyed the fact breakfast, tea-time snacks and the bar were perfectly appointed and a touch of class to the experience. From the delicate displays to the gourmet flavors, the hotel is a perfect 10 for ones escape to the big city. I also would like to commend Moe for his referral to a great steak house; especially my son loved the restaurant. I would go on and on yet I dont want to sound redundant with compliments. I do want to also commend WestHouses owners/corporate office for a job-well-done with regards to the superb expertise with their talent acquisition. Every staff member seemed to be the perfect match for their duty and were eager to assist in every aspect of the stay. I would also like to commend the work of the front desk manager/guest relationship manager for her diligent assistance with a lost article.Overall - and again not to bore the reader - take a chance and experience this hotel; your experience will be gratifying.Best Regards;Michelle Garcia
WESTHOUSE HOTELBooking this hotel through the SLH website was easy. We arrived at the hotel before 9:30am on a Saturday morning after finishing a Caribbean cruise. The staff on the front desk were extremely helpful and although our room wasn’t ready, they gave us access to The Terrace lounge where breakfast was being served. At Check-in, the staff saw on our booking that we were there for our honeymoon. They said if a suite became available we could get an upgrade, unfortunately the hotel was fully booked for the duration of our stay. The room was cozy but well decorated with everything we needed. The bed was large and comfortable. There was a fantastic view from our window down 7th Avenue to Times Square. The room only had 2 free small bottles of water, which were not replaced after the first day. However, you could access the lounge nearly all day for free tea, coffee, hot chocolate, water, soda. The hotel was covered in scaffolding so it didn’t look so pretty from outside. Also the balcony from The Terrace restaurant was closed. Staff said the upgrade should be finished by Christmas.Every night between 5pm and 7pm there is a happy hour where free food, wine, beer and champagne are served. A reasonable selection of hot and cold food was available, with the menu changing daily. The space is not too big but all the guests are friendly and happy to share a table if you can’t find one of your own.The hotel is located between Times Square and Central Park. 5th Avenue shopping is only a short walk away. A subway station is located a few feet away from the hotel entrance.Even with the hotel being full of guests, you never had to wait long for an elevator.A top hotel that we highly recommend to anyone wanting a relaxing and luxurious place in Manhattan.
I think the location and quality of this hotel was very good. The beds were very comfortable. The manadatory residence fee is my one and only complaint. It may be a deal breaker for me ever staying here again. They charge 90 bucks USD per day for two adults which is supposed to include breakfast, a light evening meal and a happy hour for drinks. The food selection is terrible, both in variety and in quality. It is really not worth the cost. We stayed here for three days and by the third day we didnt even want to check out what they had because we were so disappointed.
What I love about this place is the staff are actually helpful, the location is perfect for walking wherever need to go and the accommodations are top notch. Understand the additional cost you pay for the extras are really worth it. Coffee, lattes and cappuccinos, soft drinks and water throughout the day plus an amazing light fare with various alcoholic beverages between 5 and 7pm.
Amazingly located hotel for central park and times square. This place is contempory and classy. I did find that a few things in the room were slightly shabby and also the 23rd floor restaurant had strange opening times. The views from said room are amazing as were the views from our room on the 25th floor. The staff were what let this place down. If you needed something youd have to repeatedly ask reception or guest services until you received it hours later. I would also recommend more staff on front desk and to have the bar open at more regular times. The drinks here were also expensive for hotels in the area.
The overall cost of the room is well worth the money. Couldnt have asked for a nicer staff. The location was perfect, shops, Central Park, Times Square all within 10 mins walk. We were very pleased with this fine hotel and absolutely will return if we revisit New York.
The Hotel is very well located between Central Park and Broadway. The breakfast and coffee station was an added bonus. Amenities and breakfast/tea time/dinner made exploring the city easy and pleasant. I would definitely recommend it to anyone going to stay there as well as go back and stay at it myself.
The location of this hotel is perfect, walking distance from central park and times square and fifth ave. The staff is among the best I have experienced anywhere and the feel of the place is so far away from the bustle of a ***hattan Street. Love the breakfast and happy hour. All offered with dignified professionalism.
In the absence of the clear standardized system of NYC hotel classification, a 5-star rating is by and large is a meaningless designation. Newspapers, magazines, AAA, Google reviews, TripAdvisor reviews, etc, all rate hotels in the ways they deem fit. As a result, Hôtel Plaza Athénée NYC is 5 stars, The Surrey Hotel (Relais & Châteaux) is 5 stars, Mr. C Seaport (Leading Hotels of the World) is 5 stars, and so is Peninsula, The Pierre, etc. And then you have Westhouse...With batteries of housekeeping carts (noted by other reviewers) lined up, one after another, in the hallways, with outdated HVAC systems, loud and noisy, with AC thermostat that cant be adjusted (from 72 degrees, pre-set by the hotel, we set it up to 80, and upon coming back to our room 6 hours later, discovered that the room was freezing cold, our thermostat setting wont change the effectual temperature). And then, there is no turndown service, in a 5-star hotel. And then, there are no electrical outlets next to bed; in the day and age of smartphones, the need to charge your devices on the desk is a major inconvenience. And then, the entire facade of the hotel (including one of the windows, in our corner room) is barred by scaffolding. Sure, renovations happen, but an honest practice in the industry mandates that a hotel makes an appropriate mention, a disclosure-type. Nothing, in the case of WestHouse. And then, there was a clump of hair, apparently left from the previous guests, on the floor, by the bathroom. The room itself, its design, upkeep, the view, the furnishings, were quite average. The bathroom was arguably the tiniest among dozens and dozens of Manhattan hotels we have stayed at.But then, there was a free breakfast. Not so much free, considering the so-called residency fee of 90-plus dollars which entitles a guest to a free breakfast, use of the hotels fitness center, etc. The breakfast was as mediocre as it can only get; it is a breakfast buffet (scrambled eggs, blackened bacon, chicken sausage, hard-boiled eggs, breakfast potatoes, bagels and danishes), which is very often the case even with the real 5-star hotels, but WestHouse takes it a step down; you are supposed to make your own coffee, from a coffee machine at that (yes, you heard that right, not a coffee maker but a machine you see in hospital or school cafeterias). The breakfast self-service area is very narrow and cramped, resulting in unpleasant crowding. The name of the breakfast facility, The Terrace is as misleading as the 5-star rating, for there is nothing there of the terrace, except the top floor location. The room mini-bar is nonexistent either.Another major inconvenience: no overhead lighting; 2 bedside lamps and 2 desk lamps is all you get.Several elevators, even though sufficient in number, cant handle the guests volume adequately; there was a wait every time we used them.A nice touch was a text we received right after checking in, from the hotel staff, asking if we needed anything. We texted right back saying one of our magnetic keys wouldnt work. Everlasting silence followed. The well-known dictum you get what you pay for wouldnt be the case, for our corner room ran us over $480. This is the price for a premium room in Dominick SoHo or Beakman, a different universe from WestHouse, so the monetary gain or budget-friendly aspect are nonexistent either.Every discerning traveller or those who have plans to stay in an upscale property in Manhattan, shall better look elsewhere to avoid disappointment.
We have been long time returning customer at westhouse. We see the service and quality of rooms declining!. First you ask and pay for a king bed , and you get twin bed stuck together instead , but they charge for king ...okay. Then we arrive in the rooms the windows are dirty and we can barely see outside. Okay . it can happen. But you cant charge crazy prices , and offer this kind of rooms. If you want to play in the big leagues , you need to step up. Paying 1000$ for room and feeling like a Holiday in type of room !. The location is great .... the staff is great...the rooms are a nice size... but they need to step up for the quality of the rooms. Rate are going down. Sorry , i dont know if i will be back.
Small rooms, no room service, poor communication from staff, additional $40 per night resident fee. There was a shared communal space, which my work laptop got locked in because the room closes after a certain time after breakfast. However none of the people like myself, working from there were told this. My possessions got locked in the shared room and a member of hotel management basically told me it was irresponsible to leave them unattended and told me Id be lucky if they hadnt been stolen. Generally dont leave bad reviews for hotels, but the culmination of a couple of factors made this a bad experience.
This was our second stay at The Westhouse and we have been very happy both times.I hesitate to give it 5 stars because I Hate artificial fragrances forced on me. With that said I willingly came back again because of the service and the amenities. We stayed there almost a year ago and when we arrived in this trip the bellman, front desk attendant and the housekeeper remembered us. The rooms are comfortable, large enough, and well appointed. The morning breakfast was greatly improved on this trip with a full breakfast instead of the cold breakfast of our last trip. (Which was far better than many lesser hotels full breakfast)We did miss the lovely charcuterie, pâtè, fine cheeses, pickles and quince paste that were served at happy hour on our first trip. The location is great, the rooms quiet and comfortable, the service attentive and the amenities add great value. I highly recommendEdward T.CT
Where to begin? I came to the Westhouse hotel in celebration for my 21st birthday. My boyfriend at the time used to live in New York and we knew itd be the perfect place to be for this pivotal moment. We had visited New York before and stayed in the Jane hotel. I was Curious as to why it *felt* we had decided to stay in a much nicer hotel this go round (to my surprise he later during this trip proposed.) And as a congratulatory gift from his mother she rented us this hotel room.On arrival I used my card for a (refundable) $500 downpayment for incidentals. After a seemingly decent trip I returned and was never refunded the downpayment knowing full well we left the room in immaculate shape. When calling to see why I had never received a refund I was sent to department after department and wasted 30 minutes on the phone. I did this about 5 times. At this point it was nearing Christmas and not only did I not receive a refund I couldnt even get anyone on the phone to understand why I was being charged.About a month later I finally am able to get Juan Vargas the general manager of the hotel on the phone (after badgering a seemingly innocent concierge.) And I am told that this was NOT my downpayment, but the residence fee. He goes on to tell me it is made visible on the booking website, and after explaining that I am not the one who booked this room and that it was a gift and that I was never made aware of such fee that I was only told I would be charged for incidentals, he went on to tell me there was nothing he could do.Fast forward to months later and hours upon hours spent on the phone with my bank. I look back on this stay (what shouldve been a magical time in my life) as nothing but a nightmare. In addition the luxury items they boast about online are A LIE! Upon arrival there toiletries were nothing more than your standard inexpensive shampoo and conditioner, and the luxurious brand named heat appliances for your hair are LITERALLY CONAIR!! My straightener is better at home. Also the residence fee for this Continental breakfast and cocktail hour is food straight out of a bag, and dried out, luke warm chafers full of average at best dishes. Oh! And dont forget the cheap champagne. So if you want to be spending $100 bucks night for halfway decent food when you can go ANYWHERE else in NY for better quality, AND you intend on being there to take full advantage every night than go right ahead, but I can say from experience you WILL be disappointed.Lastly there is no restaurant and the bar is almost never open, the rooms are TINY and we faced a concrete wall. There are plenty of better hotels in regard to service, location, and size.In conclusion. if you want to spend a good amount of money for hidden fees, and a headache than this is the spot for you!
Love this hotel. Its got a European feel and beautiful design. The $30 pp hotel fee is posted everywhere so shame on you for not reading. And you get free wine and beer, breakfast hors douvres and cookies at night. A lovely espresso machine too, and I promise youll spend more if you leave the hotel. Overall great vibe and the staff is lovely. I cant say enough good things about this hotel, a hidden gem in NYC with prime location. Will definitely be back.
The hotel is beautiful, but I did not know of the mandatory $45/day, that included breakfast and wifi. I am not sure how ethical it is to tell people of this mandatory charge, once they have prepaid online, and are at the desk checking in. The gentleman at the reception was a bit rude about it.Today, I called the reception to find out how I could print a document. The lady told me that I could use a hotel laptop on the 23rd floor to print documents, but could not use my own laptop and the hotel wifi to connect to the printer at the business centre. She told me to email my document to the front desk, but gave me the wrong email address. Four hours later, when I found out the email address was wrong, I was told that of course I could have used my own laptop in the business centre to connect to the hotel printer and they did not know why the person on the phone had told me that. When discussing this problem at the front desk, as I was ready to leave the hotel, the man at the reception was quite snotty, and asked me to wait for the manager. The manager was very helpful and finally printed my document. The hotel is beautiful and the rooms are nice. But for the price, I expect friendlier staff and better service. The shower is incomplete without a handheld shower attached to the overhead one.
It was a very nice hotel great rooms great people, but valet parking guys screwed up 3 of the four alloy wheels on my Audi S7 Which is going to now cost me between $350-$400 to get them fixed. Because of this we will never stay here again. I didnt notice the damage until several weeks later.
I knew beforehand about the Westhouse Hotels (located on top of the Park Central Hotel ) excellent reputation prior to our stay. Amazingly, the Westhouse exceeded my already high expectations. Upon being dropped off at the main entrance, my wife and I were promptly greeted by a team of doormen. What I immediately noticed, and then what I discovered to be a theme throughout our stay, was how genuinely friendly the staff is. Not the Im friendly because its my job friendly, but the genuinely happy to see you friendly. Doormen, front desk, housekeeping, terrace staff: every single person we encountered was super friendly and accommodating. The hotel manager, Petr, checked in with us throughout . After learning our tastes and preferences, Petr made spot-on restaurant recommendations. Not the touristy ones the everyone already knows about, but the small hidden gem restaurants that could otherwise go unnoticed except for a dedicated local following. Clearly, Petr genuinely listened to us. One of the many amenities that comes with staying at the Westhouse is the morning breakfast and the late afternoon hours of indulgence. Going in, I thought wrongly - oh so very wrongly- that this would be a generic continental breakfast and a little meat and cheese spread in the afternoon. The breakfast always had freshly made eggs, meat and lots of other goodies. The coup de grace was the afternoon hours of indulgence. In addition to a wide selection of cheese, Italian meats and very delicious wines was a daily, freshly made hot item worthy of New Yorks best restaurants. Once, manicotti was offered, and on another day, the best seafood paella that I ever had the privilege to savor.I have been to NYC dozens of times in my life. I have stayed at quite a few very fine hotels. Without a doubt, my most enjoyable and most memorable visit was our stay at the Westhouse. Because of the kind, caring staff, their outgoing manager Petr, the great food and wine, and the luxurious rooms, I have absolutely no reason to ever stay anywhere else.
I stayed here in February 2017 and didn’t really enjoy my experience. I didn’t bother writing the review until today, when I stopped in to use the living room workspace in preparation for a conference call. Many other hotels and cafés welcome visitors, of course. But the geriatric security guard at WestHouse instead started yelling and insisting the area was limited to guests staying at the hotel. Perhaps that’s why I was the only one there.
The Westhouse is by far the best hotel accommodations Ive ever had when visiting NYC. To finally have a place that doesnt hold back on amenities, I felt pampered and stress free to be allowed free wifi, breakfast, wine, and spacious room with modern clean decor. Perfect location for heading out for my morning run in central park and of course everything else is within arms reach as well. The staff was always friendly, fast and competent. Thank you Westhouse for restoring my faith in luxury hotels at a reasonable price.
The room was large. There was little to no noise at night so the room was nice and quite. Every member of staff we dealt with were polite, helpful and courteous. My perception was that it was going to be inconvenient and my restaurant options would be limited. Breakfast was disappointing.
A B&B posing as a 5 Star HotelFirst the positive aspects. This hotel is clean, has nice bed/bedding and in a good location. Concierge Shaun and Nathaniel will meet your every need (thanks again guys). Now, the not so good.Full disclosure, I was challenged by the front desk immediately upon my arrival. Not a good first impression. The clerk insisted that he *upgraded* me to a room which is the same as I booked by calling the 855 toll free number on the web site. I had checked all the various booking sites and wanted clarification on the exorbitant *resort fee* so I made a call (which I never do). The clerk insisted I had booked through Expedia and told me, three times, that if I could produce my email confirmation to prove I had not, my ENTIRE stay would be free. I never asked for this but after insisting three times my stay would be free, I produced the necessary confirmation only to have the *resort fee* waived for three nights when I checked out. This *hotel* has no restaurant, no bar (hence no room service) and iffy wi-fi access. The *resort fee*, about $45.00 per person PER night, which includes breakfast (a little better than Holiday Inn Express food) free wine 5-7 (about $5.00 per bottle quality I estimate) and a very light fare for dinner. On the only night I checked it was mashed potatoes, small salad and typical buffet entree. All this for approximately $500.00 per night (if you include the resort fee and taxes for 2 people).Long review, sincere apologies, but in all my experience travelling to New York, this experience tainted the entire trip -- over a New Years holiday and my husbands birthday. Lesson learned. There are way too many wonderful hotels in the city from which to choose where customer experience is valued as the highest priority.
This hotel is a massive disappointment. We are staying here for our 28th wedding aniversery and although the hotel put a bottle of wine in the room, thats where the good stuff ends. The $45pppn residency charge promises all sorts of things but the hotel is just not delivering. For this you would not expect plastic plates and cutlery at breakfast, only 6 free cokes in the terrace bar fridge, no service at the downstairs bar, not enough hangers in the rooms (it took 2 requests and 6 hours to get some extras sent to the room), a cracked basin in the bathroom, no room service etc. There is more but I really think the hotel inspector should pay a visit to reassess the hotels category, as I think it would struggle to achieve 3 star.
I chose this boutique hotel after seeing how beautifully the website portrayed the hotel. The room was amazing and perfect for my family. Big thumbs up to you guys. Central Park, 5th Avenue shopping and Radio City Music Hall are within short walking distance. We got our moneys worth.
Me and my family stayed in this hotel right after its reopening and we were all amazed by how beautiful and modern it is and how well we were treated.Yes the rooms were small and the bathrooms even smaller but the design of things make up for it. Everything occupies a propper space and the furniture/linens make the rooms very luxurious. Extremely comfortable bed, btw.About the food and drinks, I do not understand why people complain! Are you aware you are in Manhattan? Any food you have is extremely expensive! And to justify even more the 30$ fee, the breakfast had only amazing ingredients and was marked by quality. I will never hide my shock when I had champagne and cheeses every day during happy hour in an amazing environment with caring servers. Not to mention the selection of wines, beers and charcuterie (I know right!). A really good deal for people like me who appreciate the good life of food and drinks!I will be looking forward to staying there again.
Unfortunately 35 days ago we had to cancel our trip to Westhouse NY. We still have not received our payments back. And worse, no one of WH replies to our questions regarding status of repayment. Very unprofessional and not 5 star quality one would expect from a 5 star hotel!
WestHouse was a fantastic experience for my family and I, thanks to the upscale and luxurious space that it offered, the exceptional staff, and the location close to Central Park and so much more. I would rebook at this hotel in, as they say, a New York minute. The only warning I would give is that the hotel charges a residence fee per person which covers the cost of eating and drinking within the hotel. Its a bit pricey, but well worth it and includes snacks and breakfast on their Terrace balcony.
Worst experience possible. Traveled 24 hours from Australia, had 4 rooms booked and upon arrival we are told there have some issues and there is no rooms available. They split up our group into 3 different hotel miles apart in NY. Staff had no idea and were no help, there were other customers told the same thing as us upon check in and were told to go elsewhere. Now two months after they are still taking money off my credit card even though we didnt stay there....thats fraud. The hotel is a disgrace.
The location is fine and the room was clean. But to claim it as a boutique is misleading. The indulgence hour was a crock. Stuffed shells is not exactly an indulgence especially when I believe a gentleman named Quimby claimed it to have cocktails and charcuterie. Also the rooms were incredabliy warm, and yes the thermo was lowered to 65 and the windows were open yet the room never cooled. And put a clock in the room. Also the resort fee is absurd, I could see if there was a pool and room service but all there is is a subpar gym.
I went to the WestHouse last year to see the Friends 20th anniversary Central Perk and it was the best vacation Ive ever had and probably ever will have. The staff was so polite and kind to us and we loved the terrace where free food was provided(we didnt eat anywhere else during our trip). My favorite part was the location, since its in midtown, at 10PM we went to times square and walked around. This was a vacation I will never forget and I hope to return soon:)
For the price we are paying, the breakfast is sub-par (i.e. bagels and cold items) and the lack of temperature control in the room is unacceptable (woke up sweating in the middle of the night with A/C on full blast and window cracked). Staff is extremely helpful but snooty. Otherwise, everything else about the experience has been great
This is a very special hotel in Uptown Manhattan. It is about 5 minutes walk from either Central Park or Times Square and right in the heart of Theatre land. The staff are extremely attentive and welcoming in that way that only Americans know how to do. The rooms are really comfortable although if there was one tiny criticism they dont provide a kettle in the room, but to be honest, if you are in New York, why would you want to be in your room? The 23rd Floor Terrace is particularly nice to go and sit out on with a cocktail and enjoy the views of the city.
I absolutely love this hotel, no doubt about it. My first stay at the Westhouse was for my 16th birthday, and when I was talking with a staff member (shoutout to Ashley), she was so kind and excited for me simply because I was seeing Hamilton! When I came back with a poster and asked them to keep it safe, the poster suddenly became as important to them as it did me. The second time was when I was up for Come From Away, and the staff was exactly, if not more, welcoming and friendly. They dont really treat you as another in-and-out customers as normal hotels, but they treat you as a friend. The rooms and the view were amazing, and the Westhouse surely exceeded my expectations. Thank you so much for making both of my New York visits more memorable!
Westhouse was an amazing stay. All staff was incredibly helpful, attentive and hospitable. The view from the Times Square Room were fantastic. The bed literally felt like I was laying in a cloud of pillows. Ill never forget the feeling of being draped in their signature robes monogrammed slippers falling in to that amazing bed. The cleanliness and impeccable attention to comfort made my anniversary trip an experience that I will never forget. Oh, and the champaign chocolate covered strawberries with our turn down service was more than a delightful touch. THANK YOU WESTHOUSE!
If I could give a zero star to this one, I would! Not because the hotel was bad; but because of false advertisement! Nothing about this hotel is five star! If someone is happy with this hotel, it means to me that they have not experienced a true five-star hotel and/or a five star customer service. This is at best a 3.5 star hotel with nice amenities and at a very nice location. They charge you a fee for amenities, which I think is fair and with that comes decent food (e.g. breakfast, afternoon tea, cookies, and evening appetizers as well as wine and beer). When it comes to customer service or any other standard (e.g. cleanliness) of a 5-star hotel they lack significantly.I reserved this hotel through Priceline for two nights! I should have known better that a five star hotel at such prime location in NYC cannot be as low as $300/night. The hotel is advertised as a five start on Priceline. On the night that we were driving to NYC we hit an awful storm. Our travel was delayed and with warnings and having our one year old daughter in our car we decided to pull over to assure safety. Making our adventurous storm story short, we got to NYC one day late and lost the first night of our hotel reservation. While we were awaiting the passing of the storm (1am), I was on the phone with Priceline and the hotel to see if they can give me a credit for the first night or extend my trip for an extra night with the funds that I have already paid them. Pricelines position was very clear: hotel gets the money from us regardless, if they are willing to issue you refund we would be happy to give you a refund or use your fund to rebook. But the hotel: not so accommodating. Priceline staff suggested that I email the hotel all the warnings that I can find online to assure the hotel that this was due to a safety hazard that we could not make it on time. I did! I talked to a hotel staff, no mercy! They keep saying Priceline has your money, they have to give you a refund but we cant give the refund back to Priceline! We will charge them regardless. When we finally arrived in NYC we showed up at the hotel. I talked to the manager explaining the situation. I asked him a simple question: are you telling me that you would have not cared for the familys safety and wanted us to drive through the storm? To which he responded had you not paid for the hotel someone else would have! I said: if you are not fully booked for tomorrow night, extend my trip for one night please. To which he responded: why would I do that when I know someone else would pay for the same room! I was shocked! Worse than all of this was the fact that he just walked away without saying anything else. Just Left!So we stayed for the one night that we already had a reservation for. overall, if you are happy with a 3.5 star hotel (I am being generous) with a 1 star customer service, but decent food that costs you about $35 per day per person this is a good choice. With that comes supporting a soulless business mentality that only reminds us how cruel our business culture has become over the years!By the way, I originally wrote this review to post on Yelp. If you are interested to know more, read the Yelp reviews! In as recent as two weeks ago people have been seeing cockroaches in the rooms of this hotel. Definitely a sign of not a 5star hotel.Update: Priceline sent this to their resolution center as they believed that this was a special case. Here is an actual response I received from Priceline after a few days indicating that the hotel is not giving the money back:We are sorry to hear that you were unable to use the reservation due to the bad weather and you would like to request for a refund. We would like to help you in every way we can with your concern; however, we contacted our Travel Partner regarding your situation and they informed us that the hotel is not willing to make an exception to their cancellation policy. We apologize, but we will be unable to issue you a refund.
Hotel is beautiful and new, location is great and amenities of breakfast and cocktails are very nice. HOWEVER, if you booked through PRICELINE this is not disclosed until you check in, so a good deal is not such a good deal when the hotel adds $60/ day to the daily rate. In addition to the prepaid Priceline rate of $295, there is a charge of $30 per day per person so for 2-people the total cost is $355/ night - higher than rack rate. For a 3 night stay, that added $180 to the bill. We probably would have paid the $30 if offered the option, but this is an ugly surprise. Shame on Priceline for not disclosing; shame on the hotel for not providing an option to opt in or opt out.
Front desk was told we are checking out at 11 pm. Never have I been asked this. I bet they will try to clean room and sell it again!! Which is against the law... All Im using room for is to sleep from 2pm till 11 so dont know much about hotel. Pretty snotty at front desk until I called travel agent and they magically found rooms ready! Oh and $250 a night and you think they would at least use fitted sheets. Nope they put flat sheet down so when you remove the covers it all unfolds under mattress.
We recently spent 5 days at this fantastic hotel , everything about it was excellent . I would highly recommend using it for your stay in New York as it is perfectly positioned for most of the main attractions. There are also a great variety of places to eat within easy walking distance.
We arrived at 8:00 in the morning and there is no possibility to take a room before, we are waiting for the room in the breakfasts placebecause they dont give us a solution. We are getting sleeep in the 22th floor. This is the worse experience in a hotel in my life, please dont make a booking in this hotel. The worse service.
After you book and pay for your reservation you will charged a additional $40 per person per night resident fee when you show up to check-in to your hotel. By this time it is obviously too late to do anything about it so you are ultimately forced to pay. The integrity of running your business this way is questionable at best.
AMAZING customer service, great breakfast, nice happy hour, great amenities, housekeeping kept the room spotless, and the absolute perfect location! Time Square and central park are very short walks away! 10/10 would recommend staying here. And this will be where we stay when we come back to NY to here on out.
Westhouse hotels is hands down the best place to stay in New York. Such a amazing location and cozy atomsphere. Go out all day and come back to unwind with smiles. Managment is on point. Manager steve will make yohr experience superb! They are willing to do utmost to make your stay comfortable. I stayed 9 nights and each one of it memorable... terrace lounge is amazing! It is the best in class! Highly recommended
This luxury art deco style boutique hotel is a 6-minute walk from Central Park South and the theaters of Broadway, and within 10 blocks of the Lincoln Center.Sophisticated rooms and suites with a glam vibe offer custom scents and 400-thread-count linens; some have views of Times Square or Central Park. Some suites have terraces. Wi-Fi is available for a fee. Turndown service and in-room massages are available.Amenities include a 24-hour gym and a business center. Theres a swanky cocktail lounge and a chic rooftop restaurant and bar with city and Hudson River views.
Westhouse overcharged me for 3 nights of residence fee when i stayed for 2 nights and charged me late checkout on the first night . Impossible to reach their accounting team to fix billing errors. They say they will call you back every time and no one has called me back. I hope you guys can resolve this this week or it will be filed with my CC company. This situation has been resolved with the manager - alex. Thanks you! Will be back.
Weve booked this hotel with Expedia and we were surprised by the $30/person/day fees they announced to us at the check in (to cover the breakfast and some other drinks and food...). The bedroom was OK even if out smells the humidity and some work has not been finished apparently...
Very bad response...no reply for my emails. Had a booking with them for my guest from India today (14jan19) for which I wanted to upgrade the room for which I had called a several times but neither they tried to help me or responded properly... In future will neither recommend or book myself in the same hotel

2022-03-31Excellent central location. Rooms were clean. The temperature in the rooms were too warm for us and unfortunately we could not turn it down. The beds were very comfortable. The view was fantastic. The lounge was comfortable, but needs more staff at breakfast. I had to eat at an uncleared table. The coffee machine did not work on one day also.

2022-01-04We LOVED this hotel!!! It was very well staffed, and every single person who worked there was friendly and patient and helpful. The breakfast is amazing - with eggs, bacon or sausage, waffles or pancakes, bagels with nova lox, fresh fruit, including a variety of berries, coffee, OJ, cereal, croissants, muffins and danishes, etc. . . and the hotel is simple and beautiful and the location is amazing - right next to a subway entrance, a few blocks away from Times Square, near Central Park, near Rockefeller Center. The bed and pillows were super comfortable, the room was elegant, and security was great. It is a nice, safe, clean area. We hated to leave!

2022-05-01We had a great stay at the Westhouse. Our room was clean and quiet at night. The staff was friendly and doormen were helpful getting cabs. The men helping with breakfast noticed we brought in our allergy kiddo’s soy milk the first morning and they went out and bought it so we would have it the next morning. Very thoughtful and greatly appreciated.

2022-04-19Breakfast was lackluster (eggbeater scrambled eggs, Costco baked goods, etc.), not worth the per person resort charge. Maybe if they still had the cocktail hour that was advertised on the key-card jacket but crossed out w/ pen...then maybe it would be worth it. The room was nice but was showing its age. Overall, its a 3.5 to 4 star hotel (not 5 as the hotel claims...5 star hotels have more luxury amenities, in room coffee/tea, robes, room service, onsite eatery, etc. this property lacks all of these). The location is great, steps from the subway and a few blocks from Central Park. Its easy to get to things without walking into the huge crowds you have a few blocks south closer to Times Square. I would stay again if the price was right, but there are better options at this price point and better ways to spend the resort fee, which ends up being much higher than other area hotels since it is per person here.

2022-06-20Ive stayed here approximately six times. I love it. The rooms are great and I always sleep peacefully. The amenities of the breakfast and happy hour (I hope this comes back soon) are perfect. I like that its far enought from Times Square to get away from the crowds. But close enough to walk to a theater for a show. I love that its a few blocks away from Central Park. Its so convenient.

2022-03-15Great location in Midtown near many subway stations and far away enough from Times Square to not be disturbed when sleeping. Breakfast was slightly underwhelming for a five star hotel. We stayed last week and our room was very hot and it was a struggle to get it to a comfortable temperature. But the front desk service was great and friendly, and any concerns were quickly addressed!

2022-02-20It was wonderful stay at this hotel. I absolutely love this place. I stayed here for my moms birthday. The parking was so easy, Venessa at the front desk was absolutely fabulous. When I called the hotel, they answered kindly and thorough. The place was gorgeous. Outstanding services from everyone. I highly highly recommend this place. I would go back to this place when I want to spend a special night in New York. Only 5 minutes from Central Park by walking, 10 minutes to Time square. Breakfast from the 23rd floor was very good quality and full filling. Room was great, TV might need a little tiny bit upgrade to smart TV.

2022-06-22This is not a 5 star hotel as they claim. I just want to get that important point out of the way because I was very disappointed where that is concerned. Scrawny towels, no bathrobes or slippers, no spa options. Our view was to the interior and looked like an insane asylum. That being said, the location is great, subway entrance right nearby. It is quiet which is a relief after the noise of the city. Gym is alright but their water dispenser only give a gulp of water at a time. Breakfast is alright but not worth the per person charge.
