Its okEdit: Hey owner! Nothing in particular honestly. I think that I am just not a fan. I cant think of anything. I just dont like that there is so much cold food I guess. Is there hot food?Edit 2: OK, Im changing my review to a 5! This place rocks! I went tonight super late but they still had LOADS of good-quality products!!!!
My first time here. Cant truly write what I feel about this place because it is so huge! I did stop for food, they have a large selection of food mouth watering teriyaki chicken, fish, meat loaf, fresh pot pies salads, veggies, soups, lets just say I found a new food spot that I will visit from time to Time. Did I mention soups..fall soup, all I need is fresh bread hmm..I wonder what area is the fresh baked bread.
I have passed by the store many many times, loved the variety of produces available whenever I walked by. This time, I finally visited the store with my best friend because the store has really generous store hours which is very convenient for the neighborhoods. I tried to see if I can buy something from them but realized that the prices are at the higher end.
The prepared meals are many and plenty. Flavoring will vary from dish to dish but I personally like the Cajun grilled Salman with rice, carrots and potatoes. The grilled chicken is good as well. Ive tried a few others but these are two of my go tos.Just tried the pumpkin pound cake and it’s very good. Moist and sweet. Very reminiscent of carrot cake.
First time going there, the staff over the counter who was serving the food was very pleasant & informative. The cashier how ever seem to have a bit of an attitude, shes sort light skin with a gray hat on, she was closest to the door. The store was very clean & put together nicely & well stocked, I will shop there again, Ill just have to choose another cashier, because Im trying to stay positive these days.
Overpriced. Lots of mistakes made at the registers [check your receipt!] Unhelpful & unfriendly, often rude, mostly Spanish speaking only staff. Navigating the store is like being on an obstacle course. Lastly, the store is way too cold during the summer months to the point where it should be deemed environmentally unconscionable. Shop elsewhere.
I want to love this place. They have everything. I find grocery items here that I cant find at WF, TJs, etc. But the prices can be daunting. Some items are priced fairly... But some are borderline exorbitant. If you care about money, I think this is one of those places that you have to go to and buy whats reasonable. Then you have to go to another store and buy the rest of the things on your shopping list. Some of the prices are almost double Whole foods. Other than that its great. if you dont care about money, I think youll be very happy here.
Ive been over charged twice in a row. First receipt I noticed was gummy bears added, which I never purchased and a vegetable rang up 3 times instead of once. Went back and received credit. Next time the same thing. Gummy bears on my receipt. $4.30. Each time they ask you if you want your receipt. Take it! Ive mentioned that it was the second time and they really didnt respond. I think its a little strange.
The staff are very rude and unhelpful. They stand in your way, talk about you in Spanish, and are very slow. The store layout isnt great, and the aisles are so tiny, cant social distance, and overcrowded Covid-spreading situation inside the market. Prices are higher than surrounding markets. Go elsewhere.
If your tired of the vast crowds at Whole Foods, you can get everything you need right here. Great selection of organic produce, even hard to finds like fresh morel mushrooms! Great deli counter, excellent selection of cheese. I dont know how they cram so much goodness into this space.
Bright, clean, well ordered with considerate staff. Open 24 hours. Prices are a bit higher than other options in the area but Westside is larger, with better selection and a more upscale feel. Youll particularly notice the good selection in the produce area. There is an odd musty smell by the cleaners and 2-liter sodas that impedes that upscale feel until you walk back to the center of the store.
Fantastic in every way. Im so excited I found this place. The best is at the deli where you can do a lunch or dinner plate with and entree and two sides for like $10. Huge portions. I have never gotten something from the deli that disappointed me. Its all been amazing. My only complaint is earlier this week I was ordering at the deli and some buddies of the guy who was helping me walked in, and he dropped what he was doing to help them. Didnt even say a word to me. I stood there for several minutes until another employee came over and asked if I was being helped, to which I pointed to my half completed order sitting on the counter. I got over it because my lunch was so amazing as always
The staff is very nice and usually not much of a wait. However, when it comes to dairy products I’ve had some serious issues. On 3 different occasions I’ve had milk I’ve purchased here expire on the sell by date or as little as one day after that was advertised. And no it’s not my storage at home as I’ve installed a thermometer and tested it to make sure that it wasn’t an issue on my side. And this is only an issue I’ve experienced with dairy that I’ve purchased here and not any where else. This leads me to believe that there is a storage issue on their side so just be wary.
This is my go to market , well stocked everything - love that they have a deli, a salad bar where they will make a salad for you, and also a a fish/sushi station. I do wish however that their prepared foods were better. Its a bit of a gamble whether you pick something that will taste good or awful.
I never give bad reviews unless I am completely appalled with the customer service. It’s bad enough the prices here are about 25 percent more than the leading super markets such as Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods. As the customer I am paying for the service as well for the item in this case with a 25 percent increase. We all have bad days and we have to suck it up, the cashier was Genisis R. She was giving so much additude I was about to loose my patience. I’m not asking for any compensation but a corrective action.
Everybody loves this store. Theres a lot of great fresh produce outside and inside as well as pre-made buffet style foods hot and cold. A salad bar they chop up for you. I think they also have a fruit bar where you pick the ingrediants and theyll put it together for you. Prices are really pretty reasonable considering the quality of the food. Most of the meat was USDA Choice. Today theyre playing hits from the 80s and everybody was bopping around looking for stuff at the store. Lots of healthy and also lots of tasty baked treats so, go visit!
I really love their sandwiches, the 2 guys behind the couter are great! Also, the customer service the deli clerks and other food servers deliver make you feel welcome all the time. I do not however like the hot bar, food gets thrown into a microwave to heat up, but except for that great pricing and so many options and great fresh and seasonal produce choices!
Their prepared foods are decent, the produce is reasonably fresh, although not a lot of local farm options. Their meats and fish do not look particularly fresh. But the worst by far is cheese and dairy. Its old, sometimes having gone bad by the time you buy it. Cant go here any more. Too many bad experiences that make me question everything.
Love this place! Great selection. Open 24 hours. My only complaint is when the ladies work the manager shift ouch! such attitudes. Lets take it down a notch shall we?Went to do some shopping last Friday. I come here for specific items. One of items were $2.50 more than the week before! I spoke to the staff but sadly like most retails stores today they were clueless. What happened to customer service? Just does not exsist in this city anymore
How have I made it 33 years and never been inside Westside market?Great produce selection, insane amount of house prepared foods, massive cheese selection, and on and on. The name of the game here is variety. And all of that at a very reasonable price, especially gove the location
Great variety, small lines and accepts new card cash (The New School). I honestly regret not coming here sooner, so much time lost on Whole Foods. Also, I asked one of the guys (maybe the manager or the owner?) if they carried chicharrones. Not only he explained to me why they didnt have them, he told me where to find it and gave me his card so I could contact him in case theres anything else I want the market to carry.
This review is about dishonesty. I have lived in the area long before Westside Market. I shop at Whole Foods, Agata & Valentina, Trader Joes, & Morton Williams all in the neighborhood, and have not experienced the same issue.Every time I go to the WestSide Market the scanner rings up a different price on 1 or 2 items than the posted price, in todays case 2 items. Im a typical New Yorker and usually distracted by something at check out. The first and second time I noticed it was by accident, from that point on I began to pay close attention. I have not been in the sore once since I started paying attention that it did not happen. The store help is always nice about it - Ive pointed it out 6 times in as many weeks, not only to the cashier, but to the management as well since a manager is needed to reverse a scan entry. At this point, I dont believe its an error. If you shop there, pay attention; youve been warned.
Good because it is close to me and has lots of produce. Bad because you are going to pay a premium for groceries. This is my last stop on a loop I do for groceries. First Whole Foods to see if they have any meat on sale, then Food Emporium for most of my groceries, and then I swing by Westside IF I need some produce I couldnt find or didnt like.
Great produce and friendly staff. Im picky about my lunch meat and this is the only place Ill buy my boars head lunch meat. however their selection is still a tad lacking compared to your typical Safeway. but definitely is one of the best grocery stores in Manhattan next to tj and wf.One thing I did notice is that the prices are slightly different at this location vs. chelsea location on 14th. My eggs were 50 cents more expensive at the east village location. Just saying.
Convenient especially since its open 24 hours and 365 days a year, but that ubiquitous African/Haitian dude standing by the entrance (being paid to block petty grocery thieves from exiting the wrong door, or to steal a melon or some fruits from the display racks outside?) really kinda ruins the mindset and mood on approaching and entering this supermarket. Ive never seen anyone else practice business like this (even at their other Manhattan/Chelsea location. Would be better off if they just installed one-way turnstiles for entering, or at least dress the fellow in a clear cut security mans uniform.
WAY TO EXPENSIVE FOR JUST MEDIOCRE FOOD AT BEST!!!!! VERY OVER-PRICED FOR NON-PREPARED OR HOT FOODS. AS ALL, AND I DO MEAN ALL THE GROCERY-TYPE ITEMS, AS WELL AS PRODUCE ARE OUTRAGEOUSLY OVER-PRICED AND THIS MARKET KNOWS IT, SINCE THE AREA IS IN FACT A FOOD DESERT!!!!! HIGHWAY ROBBERY OR NICHE CAPITALISM AT ITS WORST, JUST SYMANTECS AT THIS POINT IMHO!!!!!!!!!!!

2021-07-21Very nice supermarket in the area! I love all prepared food, especially salad and soup sections! I was a bit tired of Trader Joes taste, so I wanted to try some prepared food at WSM, bought cracked pepper shrimp salad, beans salad, ravioli, Manhattan clam chowder soup. All ingredients are fresh, and so tasty! The packages are big, so the leftover was my next 2 meals.Staff are friendly and helpful. Inside is clean and very well organized. I will definitely be back!!

2022-06-02I gave you a second star because youre actually starting to take expired items off your shelves. I mean, it leaves your shelves rather empty, but its good to see youre paying attention to complaints. After three solid years.Congratulations, West Side Market is no longer the best place in NYC to buy old food! But it does remain the best place in NYC to buy ridiculously overpriced food. Whoever decides your prices is the very picture of incompetence and greed. Among the notables are a half dozen pre-packaged, pre-boiled eggs from a certain free-range chicken farm *costs two dollars less than a half dozen raw eggs from exactly the same farm*. Does the person who decides your prices have no access to your wholesale data, or do they just not care at all?By the way, I noticed you fired a bit chunk of your employees at this location. Hilariously, all the wrong ones.

2022-03-21Convenient 24 hour place. Got some teriyaki chicken at 11:30pm cuz I got into NYC late and nothing else was open nearby.Food was decent—except for the rice, which was so undercooked it was crunchy! It was too late for me to go back, but it was kinda annoying.

2022-02-25Lots of selection which is a plus.But...Many of my items go bad right away or I open them to find mold. Also they dont put prices on many items and its just annoying to not know until you get to the register especially considering some items are just insanely priced.

2021-12-20The sandwiches are amazing ,and pastry section so good sometimes they are fresh or hard like a rock. Need to try the hot foods asap. Some staff team members are polite ,others can be rude. The cashier always ask do you want a receipt yes . I recomend this place to anyone 24 hours open. Just pricey clean sections very organized store. Managers keep on top of the employees.

2021-11-25This place is tiny , small narrow isles, checkout counters the size of a cutting board, and the biggest of all rude short staff. I walked in early about 8 am with a grocery list and since I’ve never been to this store I really thought some help would be nice. But everyone pretended to not know where anything was , bounced me around from member to member, no one and I mean no one wanted to help. It was to a point that a lady wanted to help me and a woman next to her told her not to and to ask a man to help me. I asked her why and she turned her back and didn’t say a word. All I needed was direction to where the items were. Most of the things I was looking for were out of stock. Finally the manager came to help me with a few items and I was ready to checkout until the young girl at the register got mad at me for putting too much stuff on the counter. She immediately started shoving my stuff and raised her voice at me to stop. I’ve never been treated like this anywhere and I mean anywhere. I felt like I was specifically being discriminated on and the employees there were prejudice. Will never shop here again.

2022-01-12In person shopping is great . But don’t recommend ordering thru Uber grocery . The yogurts were expired and they can’t seem to get the math right to refund me.The additional add on charges don’t help either

2022-02-19Between the Whole Foods, two Trader Joes, and the other Westside Market a few blocks north of this location I find myself here the most. They carry a decent selection of more esoteric products, a wider selection of ingredients than TJs, and checkout is less of a nightmare than Whole Foods. Great craft beer selection albeit inconsistent price labeling and low turnover and the narrow aisles are a bit of a pain but still a good store.
