Amazing. My son and I truly enjoyed Little Shop of Horror. The theater size is just right, not too big or small. We were sitting in the front row, left corner and was able to see the whole set and actors. Great music and funny. Would like to go back and see it again.👍
Great two story theatre.Very clean and follows strict COVID precautions.Presently, Little Shop of Horrors is playing in the upstairs theatre which seats 270 people. Must show proof of vaccination if seated in row A.Dont think anything is playing in the lower (ground level) theatre at present, which displays a thrust stage and seats 249 people.Nice concession upstairs as well.Enjoyed our time here!
Little Shop of HorrorsFantastic night really enjoyed the show. The intimate setting transformed me to the Skid Row along with Seymour and Audrey. Audrey 2 had her very own personality and admit did make me jump at one point. Absolutely loved the show and thoroughly recommend it.
We saw Little Shop Of Horrors and it was an amazing production. House was a pleasant temperature even though it was almost a full house (maybe 10 empty seats?). Entry was quick. Facility was clean. Staff was friendly. Bathrooms finally made sense (Im looking at you other theaters!!!!) One womens one all gender bathroom. Made the restroom wait very equitable. Sound quality of the show was excellent, perhaps a bit too loud. Overall, one of the best shows Ive ever seen in a nice facility.
A very nice off Broadway theater that can hold easily 200 - 300 people. The seats were a little tight but the theater is in great condition. Upon entering, you need to walk up to the second or third floor to get to your seats. A good view from any seat. Theres no aerial obstruction either. My friend got tickets to see Daniels Husband and it was an excellent show. The set was simple and easy on the eyes. As were the actors. Really enjoyed coming here.
What a fun venue! I love seeing buildings that get a second life, and that’s what this is! They kept some of the integrity of the original structure while making it into a theater, and I was very impressed with how many seats they managed to fit in the space! You will be a little tightly packed together because of this. Aside from the size of the space, though, it has all of the bells and whistles of the larger theaters nearby and offers a great experience!
What a quaint and lovely theatre. Saw Little Shop of Horrors, which was superb, but also enjoyed the intimacy of the theatre. Seats are mildly uncomfortable, but tolerable for sure! The detail in the decoration of the lobby were easily appreciated and the staff was fantastic and so sweet!
Today I have tickets to see little shop. Something is going on causing the show to be delayed. It may or may not go on and its probably not anyones fault. But there is clearly disregard for anyones safety as we have been standing here packed like sardines during a global pandemic for an hour now. If they let us wait in the theatre we would be spread out. This is ridiculously disrespectful.
The show was great. I was surprised they didnt offer some kind of caffeine at the concession stand during intermission, coffee or espresso wouldve been nice. My husband fell asleep during the 2nd half. Very small theatre. Dont come here if youre very Covid cautious. They do require masks be with at all times, though.
Great, little, intimate theater. For such a tiny theater, I was impressed by how comfortable the seats were. I didnt feel cramped at all.A shout out for the show; we saw Little Shop of Horrors - and it was fantastic! Of course Christian Borle was as fantastic as expected; his comedic timing is wonderful. We ended up with the understudy for both Seymour (Josh Daniel) and Audrey (Chelsea Turbin) - and they were both fantastic as well! Josh Daniel was absolutely wonderful as Seymour and we really enjoyed his performance!
The Westside Theater is like entering a portal to the theatre of yesteryear. The wooden banister is just one of the many details revealing its a theatre from an era gone by. Its location is great, just a couple of blocks west from the 8th and 7th Avenue lines. Its All Gender bathroom reminds one were in the 21st century. The ushers were professional and scored high marks in Guest Relations. While the seating era is small, it provides an element of intimacy when viewing the actors on stage. So take the time to see a show there. Youll be glad you did.
It was lovely, got to watch little shop of horrors with my partner and the usher staff was kind and polite. For those of you who are worried about going back to theaters during these times, the staff were very strict when they saw someone remove their mask and I applaude their desire to keep the actors and guests safe. While it is smaller than the other Broadway theaters, the cast are just as phenomenal and are dedicated to their craft. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a perfect day out.
A substantial rise between each seat row makes for great sight lines and provides an intimate experience even in the back row of this 250-seat theater. We sat in the third row and felt we could shake hands with the actors. One of the few theaters selling refreshments before the show and at intermission. It has a ladies room and a gender-neutral room. This helps with the intermission crush for the ladies, but might make some men uncomfortable. No problem for me
This theater was showing the new production of Little Shop of Horrors when I was there. This production is basically flawless and I highly recommend it. I saw it pre pandemic with Jonathan Groff and post pandemic with Conrad Rickamora. The theater itself is wonderful. As an off Broadway house, it is intimate. The staff were wonderful.
Beautifully intimate off-Broadway theater! Not a bad seat in the house! Saw the Little Shop of Horrors revival there and it was terrific. Note, its up a flight of stairs and has several steps within the theater. (Wear your mask. Theyre taking the laws pretty seriously, just FYI.)
Went to see Little Shop of Horrors this past Saturday. There were signs out front that said there would be no stage door photos or autographs for the safety for the cast. This was understandable. We were ushered upstairs to a lounge. The lounge became packed and we were standing about a foot and a half from others. It was after 2:00 when someone told us that with the utmost caution the show would be cancelled that day. Meanwhile we had stood in that tiny space for more than an hour. I am glad they act with caution for their cast and crew but they showed no caution or respect for the ticket holders that stood crammed in like sardines for more than an hour. I am very disappointed with the way we were treated. It is not their fault that the show had to be cancelled but they did not act with caution with the ticket holders.
The theater itself was nice but i was very uncomfortable with the bathroom situation. They have a womens room and a gender neutral restroom in the main lobby. To use the Men’s room i had to go down 2 flights of stairs, to the basement. While I was using it a few women came in thinking it was a lady’s room bc they thought both upstairs were gender neutral. I feel like the my need better signage and maybe should put gender neutral downstairs to avoid confusion.
Its a very nice theater, with an indoor lobby area so they let you wait inside starting before 7:30 (for an 8PM show) And multiple stalls in the 2 bathrooms(!) All the ushers were very nice. In Oct 21, they checked for vaccination cards and ID and enforced the mask rules - friendly but firmly. Its a small theater so basically every seat is a good one. This is the second show Ive seen there and I look forward to more.
I enjoyed Little Shop of Horrors with my daughter tonight and the show was outstanding and the venue did an exceptional job to ensure that all guests were vaccinated and knew the expectation to remain masked while in the theatre! Wonderful evening at Westside Theatre!
It was my first time back to NYC after Covid. What a great 1st show to see. All employees were very friendly and nice. Theatre is small , and not an empty seat. Everyone wore their masks. And ushers were checking if you didnt have it on, they told you to put on. We were all check for vaccinations as we stepped in the door. I felt very safe.
This is a great theater in a beautiful building. I loved having the lounge to wait pre-show, as well as the all-gender restroom option. The step-and-repeat photo op was also a nice touch. Staff were all very friendly and helpful, and enforcing safety guidelines. Seats are a pretty tight squeeze, and my long legs did get sore. This production of Little Shop was incredible. I was pretty devastated to see Jeremy Jordan was out the night I was there--no disrespect to understudy of course, but Id had these tickets since pre-COVID and traveled from Chicago to see Jeremy, so I was disappointed. However, my disappointment faded quicker than I expected when the show began. Wonderful cast, beautiful set and staging, and just an overall fantastic experience. I highly recommend seeing Little Shop during this run!
Shame on you Westside theater. If I could give you 0 stars I would. 30 mins before the show was scheduled to begin you canceled it. I drove up from DC , got a hotel, went out to dinner, and showed up to find out you canceled last nights show, did the matinee, and then canceled the evening show. What a waste of money. I could have stayed home. Give people more warning. Came up to see Jeremy Jordan and now wont get to see him play Seymour. F. You. Westside Theater. Ill NEVER buy a ticket to see a show in your theater ever again. I dont care if Barbara Streisand is headlining and Jesus and Sondheim rise from the dead to do a new musical in your venue. I will tell anyone that will listen to NEVER support ANY production that the Westside Theater puts on. Just close the show. You knew you werent going to put on a show tonight and waited till the last minute to inform the ticket holders. Why did you wait until 30 minutes before curtain to cancel the show? If you had told me yesterday you werent going to be open (and I checked 3xs ) I wouldnt have driven up here and wasted all my time and money. Shame. SHAME. SHAME on you.
Little Shop of Horror is back!!! Located at a historical piece of Architecture wonder that once held members of the protestant church in the early 20th century!Ironically, it now houses the greatest talents of Broadway with the magic of puppetry... Tony winner Christian Borle and Tammy Blanchard are amazing!!!
Little Shop was great and the theatre was small and intimate. However, the two box office employees were rather rude on the two occasions I bought tickets. They acted like talking to me was the last thing they wanted to do. After speaking to a kind employee on the phone who was super helpful, it was disappointing to feel totally unwelcome when I asked questions about the ticket limit, etc. at the box office. They didn’t care to help but rather responded, “I don’t know what to tell you.” I’m not usually a demanding customer, so it felt strange to be treated like I was being difficult. Hopefully others had a better experience.
Historic landmark building that used to be a church. Small, cozy theater. It provides an intimate, up close performance. Seats were comfortable, with good leg room. The outer area is plain and unassuming. Walking up to the theater on the 2nd floor was like walking up to your documents office. There is no atmosphere or decor. Outer area from the theater was the same. Inside the theater was nice, nothing dazzling. The seats were comfortable, with a fair amount of leg room.
The show was beautiful. The performance was wonderful snd I would definitely go again top ser this talented cast. However I had to deduct one star for the unwelcoming lady at the enterance. When I arrived she did not greet me, but as soon as the family behind me entered a few moments later, she not only greeted them, but she also offered to take a photo for them. I felt very ostracized in that moment.
Great theater if you happen to be small and handicapable. The seats are tiny with very little leg room and you have to walk upstairs to get to get to the theater, at least I was told the wasnt an elevator. Thankfully, Vitaly, the magician was great but not great enough to lessen my discomfort. Fortunately, the bar BEA, next door, was offering liquid pain killers and delectable morsels which helped ease me on the way home.
Let me preface this review by stating that James Cagney is flat out my favorite movie star of all time, bar none. That being said, I ordered tickets immediately when I got the email from Theater Mania. I was hoping against hope that this show would do justice to Mr. Cagney. Was I wrong, this show was beyond fantastic. The whole cast was amazing. Ive seen many lavish productions on Broadway but this just blew me away. Not only did Robert Creighton look like Cagney, he sounded like him and best of all danced like him, stiff legs and all.The book had some inside jokes/references that only Cagney fans would recognize. My wife kept asking me what they meant and told Id explain later.I cannot heap enough praise on this production, I can see this on Broadway running for a long time.I would like to thank the entire production company for their hard work in presenting such a wonderful delight.
On Wednesday July 6th, my husband and I owi attended the matineeshowing of Cagney the Musical at the Westside theater. We loved theplay. The performers were super talented and the story was interesting. The Westside theater is in an old church , not too small and quaint. We had a fun time and would love to see more plays at this theater.
We watched Rated P For Parenthood here. Great sound and comfy seating. It was a musical comedy that revisits the joy, hopes, pain, and suffering from conception to college based on the pragmatic parental perspective. The show was presented in a chronological order by two male (Chris Hoch and David Josefsberg) as well as two female cast members (Courtney Balan and Joanna Young) who have amazing vocals that enable them to interchangeably alternate their roles throughout the revue.Injected with a big dosage of humor, director Jeremy Dobrish offers a detailed glimpse of the good, the bad, and the ugly of parenting through the wonderful rites of passage such as school transition, puberty onset, first job, sex education, prom date, driving experience, and college departure.Whimsically charming, the creators turn the gig into an entertaining educational skit for audiences of all ages. Despite some pleasantly predictable sketches, I feel a tremendous amount of energy bursting out of every song. I almost tear up watching the mother singing a lovely Prayer For Ellie lullaby to sooth her crying baby to sleep. On top of that, my favorite number is the hip-hop rendition during the Parent Teacher Conference performed by the male actors.Outwardly funny with simplicity, Rated P is the conventional symbol for contemporary parenting, whilst reminding us of the importance of familial functions. While on my way out of the Westside Theater, I noticed an abundance of smiling faces across cohorts. And of course, I was smiling :)Youll love it!
Got enticed by the offer of rush tickets at $29 (versus the full price of $79). After waiting in line for half an hour with only 3 people in front of me, got to the box office only to discover that I must pay in cash. Is it 19th century? Just charge me $3 if you want and be done with it!By the time I run around looking for a cash machine (which did charge me $3), the cheap tickets were gone. The full price tickets were available and, of course, you could pay by card. Or you could take a trip to TKTS Seaport where the same tickets were sold for $45 (and cards are accepted). This is what I did. But I spent my money on another theatre.
This place either sucks or is a joke..I arrived for a 3:00pm showing at 3:07pm and they wanted to place my girlfriend and I at the back of the theater..after I spent over $150 per ticket...thats $300 to sit in the back..yeah, ok!!...so I will be coming back to this dirty theater again so they try and sit me close to the front..what a waste...I dont know why they dont start 10 minutes later like some places do....

2021-11-07Love this little theater! They have amazing shows, and a bar, and souvenirs all packed into one. They do require vaccine card and mask at all times which is not problem at all. The staff is friendly and very helpful. Little Shop of Horrors is playing now and I highly recommend it!

2021-11-15Loved seeing Little Shop of Horrors. Even my seat in the last row had an amazing view. Clean bathrooms, kind staff, and very cozy setting. Just be warned the seats aren’t scattered or off centered so you probably have to crane your neck a lot if you’re short.

2022-05-24I went here to see Little Shop of Horrors and loved it. The musical was spectacular and fun, the the stage design was well done and interesting, and throughout the theater there were little sculptures of fantastical plants which really helped to set the mood. The acoustics within the theater work well and it was easy to hear the performers, it was also small enough that you could see the details of the set and the expressions of the performers.

2022-08-10This was my first visit to NY. Ive always loved little shop of horrors, never seen it live. The theatre is the cutest little place. I loved how intimate it felt being smaller. We were in the front row. SO wonderful. The actors were amazing, the props were phenomenal. I personally love Christian borle, so I was very excited. Definitely worth the time seeing!
