Just took my cat to this vet for the first time after moving to the neighborhood and was very happy with the service and care. Dr. Cantor did a great job and happy to be taking my cat to a place where the staff seems to really care about your pet (and not the bottom line).
I can’t say enough good things about west side veterinary center. They are attentive and caring….I brought my little boy Diesel here on several occasions…. From Dog bites to paw injuries….. and time and time again…. from making an appointment on the phone. to the receptionist….. as well as the Doctor……in this case it was Dr.Bodkin…. They were amazingly nice thoughtful and caring……Please bring the little member of your family here …… you won’t regret it. Thank you guys……From Diesel Rivas the Yorkie and his Dad….❤️❤️❤️❤️
I had to change vets after 20 years because I moved back full time to NYC.. Westside Vet Center was recommended and I found them to be a very good choice. There was not a long wait, the Vet was competent and did a thorough examination of my 18 year old cat (in good health) and was compassionate and considerate.
We had an amazing experience here! The entire staff was very friendly and informative. Dr. Jones was amazing and made sure that she answered all of our questions and kept us very informed. Our cats loved the doctor and the rest of the staff as well. Really positive experience!
Last week I picked up my little bundle of joy after he needed to stay two nights due to a fever . My Saint was only 2 months (almost 3) & I felt so horrible about leaving him overnight, but I had to trust he was in good hands. I absolutely love love love this place so much! Not only did they call me to update me, but they loved my Saint just like their own. A week later and today he is as better as ever, & I have your guys to thank for that. Your patience, your time, your hard work does not go unnoticed. Saint and I love and appreciate you all so much. Thank you sincerely!
Too busy, noisy and lobby is stressful and too small to watch for other dogs and deal with paying.Dr was distracted and did not really explain anything. Was given medicine but no explanation what it does or side effects.Appointments are incredibly short, I had to wait. Staff were rude. Its clear this place values pumping out appointments as fast as possible to make money.EDIT: I go to Brilliant Veterinary now instead. Better individual care. No rude front desk. No stressful lobby area. Staff take time to explain treatment options and plan.
It is annoying that not one vet is in every day, so if you have issues you bop around from one Vet to another which can lead to drawing out diagnosis and proper treatment. We kept going back because it was easier than switching but i regret it. My poor pup had an ingrown hair on her head that went misdiagnosed for three weeks, they then messed around with it so much it got infected, ruptured when I was at home. They had me come in the next day to surgically remove the rest of what was inside it. When we went to go get her, she was shoved in our hands after surgery looking a mess and her head incision was massive and poorly stitched (bubbling up etc). I stupidly went back and experienced absolutely horrid behavior by the front of house staff. Some other issues we have had: incorrect meds, incorrect diagnosis, incorrect weight on scale, staff not reading chart ahead of time, challenges with follow up visits and appointments starting on time.Front of house are very unprofessional, apart from one older lady who is there during the day & is very nice. The rest of the staff is immature & chatty / rude — I overheard them putting someone on hold once to finish a personal story that featured multiple expletives — while I was waiting for 30 mins for one medication to be filled… They then got incredibly aggressive when I asked for an update. I lost faith in the overall priority the admins put on patient care and therefore the practice’s values as well. That was the nail in the coffin. We are done and recco’ NO ONE bring their pet here. The vets who are good should find another place to practice.
Please please do not take your dog here! These vets are incompetent and lack knowledge. I took my dog here about a year an half ago and I haven’t had the strength to write this because till this day it enrages me. My dog was having seizures back to back and they failed to let us know that he was actually dying and let him go the same day. It truly gets me so angry how the vet just let my dog leave without properly diagnosing him and treating him with the care he needed. As a matter of fact my dog came back worse after his visit there and passed away later that night. Please do your research on vet clinics before going to one and if you see reviews like mine take them into account. I don’t want people to experience the same traumatic pain me and my family had to endure. These people should be shut down for medical malpractice and negligence!
Unprofessional. Badly run. Save your time and money. They overcharged me for a spay on my male dog and many more mistakes were made. The manger and owner of the practice called me to explain their mistake. Which was cold and heartless. They did not treat me like a person but just like money. All in all just a traumatic experience at this business.
After not seeing Dr Kim Rosenthal for a few years I recently went back to West Side Veterinary . Not only is she a brilliant diagnostician but she showed unusual compassion by calling me on President’s Day to inquire if my dog was doing better. Above and beyond the call of duty.❤️
Ive been a client at Westside Vet for 11 years. Over the years they have taken excellent care of 4 of my pets, a lab who I lost at 14 1/2 and 2 dogs and a cat who I live with currently. My eldest dog, Gerta, is now considered hospice and I cant begin to thank them for the additional love and support they have shown us especially during COVID-19. Dr Rutherford is simply the best and the vet techs - in particular Rebecca, Amanda and Kim - are patient, kind and helpful when I have the occasional melt down or need help with meds and new ideas for feeding. There are no words to express my gratitude for the extra time we get together and knowing she is happy, pain free and cared for by all.
My cats have received excellent care at Westside Vets over many years, particularly from Dr. Napolitano (and others, on occasion). Years ago, I was very pleased to find a vet office open on Sunday, when I needed to take in a new cat in an emergency situation, and evenings, given my work schedule. The staff and techs are also highly competent, efficient, and friendly, which must be a challenge in such a busy office! Costs for care are definitely high (but not uncommon for the Upper West Side) but the quality of care and dedication to pets and their humans is also high.
Our family has had the privilege of our dogs being under the care of this practice for 25 years. Our beloved dogs were given the best care and our family was always given the most considerate treatment during very difficult times as well as during well visits. Our doctor, Dr. Napalitano and the doctors, vet techs and office staff at the West Side Veterinary Center really care about their patients and families. I would recommend this practice without hesitation because they have 24 hour care and specialists to address a wide range of pet issues. I find the personal care and attention to be the most comforting aspect of this practice.
A TOXIC environment that is Poorly run. Staff is extremely rude if you ask any questions. They give conflicting prices and ultimately decisions are made by manager who determines what you owe. If you go in with a credit card and tell that just process whatever they want you are good. If you question pricing- they do not want your business. After being overcharged hundreds of dollars from the price quoted by doctor, manager asked me to find another vet to go to. All due yo their office screwing up prices for services I was given another price for. They are a rude, and sleezy operation. Most unprofessional business Ive yet to encounter.
Do NOT trust this vet. They are NEGLIGENT AND WILL BE SUING THEM THIS MONTH. We paid $800 for a dental cleaning and X-rays of our dogs teeth last year and they assured us everything was fine. One year last our new highly regarded vet had to pull 18 of our dogs teeth out because this vet did not identify a very basic issue. Please protect your beloved pet by taking them to another vet!
TLDR: staff and techs are incredible, Dr. Jones in particular goes far above and beyond to provide care, reassurance, and comfort. 10/10.I had an emergency with my baby girl and we had just moved to the city. I frantically called here looking for guidance. The staff answered all of my questions and got me an appointment as soon as they could (even though I wasnt even technically a patient yet!) Once we arrived, everyone was incredibly kind and helpful. Dr. Jones took my very long list of questions and paranoid concerns and addressed them one by one, ensuring I understood and was comfortable with all treatments and tests and even itemized/explained all costs. All I can say is above and beyond. Highly recommend.
My friends and I had discovered a stray cat in Riverside Park and were directed to bring her here. They were so helpful and kind, and even managed to find someone to take her in! They immediately started to help us and made this a quick and easy experience. There was no doubt that this cat would be cared for and loved and safe with them. I would definitely recommend this business!!
We have been very pleased with the care that our two cats have received from Westside Veterinary Center. Dr. Napolitano is professional, personable and caring; and both Drs. Bodkin and Friedman have been very helpful in emergency situations when we havent been able to get in with Dr. Napolitano. Because we are first-time pet owners and have only been to Westside Veterinary Center, I cant comment on this practices pricing in comparison to others. However, it does seem to be fair and priced according to NYC rates. Lastly, all of the veterinary assistants and front-end receptionists we have encountered at the practice have also been lovely to us and to both cats.
My pets have been treated by Westside Vet for over 20 years. I wouldnt even consider going elsewhere. The doctors and staff are knowledgeable, caring and compassionate. They go the extra mile to make sure their patients are getting the best care possible, and that the human pet-parents know what the care will involve and what the options are. Highly recommend!
We appreciate that the doctors here arent pushing us to buy certain foods or prescribe unnecessary tests or procedures. Weve found that they take a mindful and moderate approach to care for our pup. While we dont live in the neighborhood, we find their services are well worth the trip!
Our (currently) 7month old pup Stella has been seeing Dr. Jones since she was 8 weeks old and she LOVES her and WVC!!! Everyone at WVC has been fantastic and we feel our girl is in the best care when she’s here. When she realizes she’s on the street of the vet’s office, she gets very excited and runs to the door. We’ve also had visits with Dr. Freeman and Dr. Canter and both were fabulous, too. The best bedside manner and timely and caring and SO knowledgeable. Thank you Westside Vet!!!
Kind and super professional !Im so appreciative of the kindness and generosity of the staff at Westside Vet. In challenging times they provide 24 hour support and care. The staff in the office and in the hospital are caring and attentive and professional. With appreciation from Scotty!
I cant speak highly enough about this practice! Finding a vet for my rabbit was hard enough since rabbits are considered exotic pets. After having bad experience with another vet in nyc who addressed almost none of my concerns, I was hesitant to try another vet but knew I needed to for the sake of my sweet pet. When I first called this time office I asked if they had any doctors knowledgeable with rabbits, the receptionist misheard me and thought I said magical with rabbits while we both laughed I wouldnt describe Dr Cantor and her team as anything less. From reception to techs to doctors everyone made me and my rabbit feel so comfortable. I was given new helpful information regarding care for my rabbit, and they were able to treat her for her terrible case of ear mites (which included cleaning her ears), something the previous vet said my rabbit didnt have despite me telling him all her symptoms and history. The best part was that I was able to be with my rabbit the whole time, she was never taken to a separate room so I knew everything that was happening and was able to learn as the professionals were treating her. Everyone that stopped into the exam room was so sweet and loved on my bunny so much while still providing top care for her. Im so glad I found this practice and so thankful for everyone who works here especially Dr, Cantor!
Westside Vet is the best veterinary practice I have encountered. You can schedule your visit online or by phone and when you get there the staff are friendly and welcoming. Your vet spends a lot of time with you and your dog and never seems in a hurry and seems to love your dog as much as you do. Follow-up is first rate. The facility is small and not luxurious but you cannot get better care!
I started taking my cats to West Side Vet in the 80s, and they have been looking after the 7 that I’ve had over the years with such love and affection. They greet the newbies with such joy, and share my sadness as a generation moves on. They provide superb medical care, great service and are always attentive to both the animals and their humans.I’ve had sick cats that I checked in on in the middle of the night, and there is always someone there to give a factual, empathetic report. My primary vet is Dr. Rosenthal, who is so devoted to her charges. But I’ve also been supported by other vets over the years for emergencies or when she isn’t available, and they provide the same devotion and professionalism.I would go no where else!
My darling corgi Micki was a patient of Dr. Kim Rosenthal about 15 years ago. She is the most amazing , caring and loving veterinarian it has been my pleasure to meet and work with. When I got my cat Zelda, I found Dr. Kim Rosenthal at Westside Veterinary Center. We went there for an all over check up due to the fact I got Zelda from the NYC ACC( NYC Animal Care Center). You can check out my cutie. It was fantastic to see Dr. Kim again and she was, once again fantastic with Zelda. She has an amazing touch with animals & humans. The support staff is wonderful and friendly as well. I couldnt be happier with Westside Veterinary Center. I highly recommend them.
Excellent care, sincere concern and understanding of both my needs and my cats needs I can’t express how much I appreciate the way Dr. Brodsky Guided me I highly recommend this practiceBack in early December I had hip replacement surgery. I needed to find a reliable andsafe place to leave my dog Domino for at least the first three weeks of my recovery. Irealized it would be optimum to have both boarding and vet care available at the samesite. In that regard, I was hopeful that my trusted and longstanding vet of many years(for both my dogs), West Side Veterinary Center (“Westside Vet”), could accommodatethis request. Murray, the manager, said yes, of course, and assured me Domino wouldbe fine. The way Murray and the staff addressed my concerns during this time wascaring, reassuring, and professional. I knew Domino was in good hands. I can’t thankMurray and the whole Westside Vet team enough. I highly recommend them.
I rarely wish I could give a place 6 stars but this is one of them: About two months ago I adopted a rescue pup. I never had dogs growing up and this is my first dog. Ever. He was just 13 weeks and despite months of preparation the reality can be difficult. He’s had vaccinations he needed to finish and being a pup, several infections. I can say I sleep better at night knowing I have the support of Westside. Each and every single person I’ve interacted with has been not only prompt, thorough and knowledgeable, but ALSO friendly and just genuinely kind. I feel like this last bit is rare in the city, especially at high paced environments. (I wish all my doctors’ visits went as smoothly as my dog’s vet visits) my dog actually gets excited when we walk by, so i know that he is well cared for inside.
Amazing establishment. Organized, caring, loving and always there for our beautiful pets. Dr. Napolitano is an amazing vet. She loves my pug Maggie and takes such good care of her. The appointments are not rushed and Dr. N is always available to chat and answer questions. I had a small issue once and the owner called me directly to rectify the issue. I feel like a valued customer and will continue to support Westside Veterinary Center.
I have been bringing my cats to Westside Veterinary Center for 3 years, and I have to say that they are the best Ive found in NYC. The Doctors are top notch, the Vet Techs are so kind and compassionate, and the office staff is friendly and extremely helpful. Its such a gift to have Vet services for my beloved senior kitty that I trust completely. I feel like both my cat and I are in the best hands possible. Theres no praise too high for all who work there. So grateful for their dedication to the profession.
Our Vet at WVC is Dr Tamika Lewis who is an awesome human bar none! Our pets ( dogs/cats) over the years have had the benefit of hearing her greeting them on the floor w/ loving inflections in her voice, Hey Buddy, heeey buuudy! Even before she starts calling them by their given name tails start wagging non- stop. Dr. Lewis has seen us through some really tough stuff w/ choice of options for treatments. When the hard decisions come knocking we have had to trust her experience and judgement. She has never steered us wrong. Anybody with a pet right now is dealing with skin and food allergies-- surely other more serious stuff as well. I am gracious Dr Lewis is on the case. I wish she was a mobile VET...Geez. That would be Awesome!! The front desk always has worked with us respectfully as we call ahead to see if a room.is available --- our boys arent waiting room freindly😄😍 The Poole- Parrillas + tails
My boy Travis had an ear infection and I was having it treated at my local Ct veternarian but after his first treatment he developed an hematoma on his right ear. While on vacation, they scheduled two more visits with no success. After visiting Westside Vet, I was very pleased with the excellent service I received, and to my joy, the doctor was finally able to treat the hematoma successfully - he now has NO hematoma and is very happy as am I.
I have been bringing my dog Max here for over 7 years and have always been impressed by the high quality of care provided by all the staff. From the time you come in ..the receptionists are so nice and helpful, the aides and nurses so caring and professional. And the doctors Great! Max does have his primary Vet who is terrific, Dr.Cantor. But one of the many great strengths is that all the doctors that Max has seen have been excellent! That is so comforting to know that whoever sees him will take good care of him. I find the costs to be quite fair I have never been overcharged. Everything and procedure has been explained and no unnecessary procedures done. Best of all it is a 24/7operation. When Max got sick at 2am I called, took him in and he was seen helped and lovingly cared for. What an amazing place!
Best in town I was so happy to find a fantastic vet in the city. Very reliable, prices are reasonable basically as all other vets in the city. My dog was spayed and given all updated shots-vaccinated and complete physicals several visits times over the years. I would highly recommend Westside.
I’ve been going to Westside Vet for years. My dog loves Dr. Rutherford and so do I. She is a wonderful vet and always makes sure all your questions are answered, I’ve never felt rushed.I also board my dog with them now that she is older. I just got a new puppy and Dr. Rutherford got a new patient!
Ive taken four of my pets to Dr. Cantor over twenty years, and shes been incredible: responsive on the phone, willing to stay late hours during an emergency, and always happy to see my birds. If you are looking for an amazing avian vet who cares deeply about her clients, stop by Westside Vet.
Came here with great recommendations from friends for my devon rex kitty. Here for a general first health check up, vaccines, stool checks etc. The staff from calling to make an appt for a first visit was very friendly, patient and kind. Answered all my questions and made me feel at ease. Today was the visit, and again the staff that met me outside was friendly, knowledgeable and very gentle with my cat. They were on time and the office was well run. I got a call from Dr. Cantor to go over things and discuss routine treatment plans and etc. Very thorough and no pressure on anything. I asked for the works to make sure my cat is healthy and now Im just waiting on lab results. Great vet practice, highly recommend!
I have been bringing my dogs to West Side Vet for over twenty years. I have found the doctors professional and loving and talented. No matter what we needed, no matter the situation my dogs ( all four of them!!) were in, emergency care or yearly exam the experiences were terrific. And West Side Vet has a wonderful support staff and people at the desk who know you and your dog by name. Highest recommendation.
I love this clinic... They have been so great with both our Maltese and cat. They were so supportive when our elderly cats passed away and even made paw print 🐾 casts so that our family could have a keepsake. They also have great evening and weekend appointments and that helped us out tremendously with our work schedules! Dr. Rutherford is our pets vet and she is the absolute sweetest! Front desk staff and animal clinical staff are always happy when they greet you and your pet, can tell how much they all love animals!
We were not able to get appointments where we took out pets for twenty-five years. The Westside Veterinary Center gave us appointments for three days later. The veterinarian went through the records carefully, and listened to us. We left with new medicine, new food, and confidence that she would help us if our cat did not respond.
Dr. Tamika Lewis is THE BEST. We trust her completely with our two Jack Russells for several years now. She works with a great team at every level of the vet center that clearly work very hard to meet the needs of their furry patients and their humans. Thank you for being such amazing care people for Uptown NYC pets!
We received the best care at Westside Vet! My dog was bit by another dog and I came in as a first time patient in a panic. They accommodated us quickly without an appointment, with empathy and care. Dr Melanie Friedman quickly won over my dog and made her incredibly comfortable. She even followed up the next morning with a call to see how my dog was feeling. Such a kind and caring staff- from receptionists to vets. I cannot recommend enough!
The veterinary doctors at West Side are the finest I have ever known. Their medical care of my many generations of dachshunds has consistently been as outstanding as it has been loving. My questions are answered with thoroughness and even the most ordinary of procedures, such as a dental cleaning, is never hastily undertaken, but rather considered in terms of my dog’s age and overall heath. The nurses and technicians are equally attentive, patient and kindhearted. The animal hospital is efficiently run, clean, and well-stocked with medication and special food, should a pet require it. In an emergency, I have always been able to rely on the staff to treat both my pet and me with the seriousness that the situation warrants. I urge anyone who is seeking the highest quality veterinary care to turn to West Side. You will not be disappointed.
Westside Veterinary is the BEST vets in the city hands down. So grateful I found this place! They really care about your pet. I brought my Pomeranian Prince in for an broken paw’ and doctor Kathleen Colby and Dr Rutherford are amazing they took good care of him and they are both incredibly thorough and Knowledgeable. It is always a pleasurable experience to visit this immaculate office. The entire staff is caring and truly provide a excellent service! Highly recommend this place!
I called them because of the reviews. Immediately could tell when the front desk picked up I would regret it. I said my dog has an ear infection and id like to come in today, if possible. She says she’ll check when the earliest is available tm, I say okay! She then starts talking about going to an emergency hospital or make an appt at my vet (which I was changing obviously) and does anything to not get me to make an appt doesn’t tell me when the availability is saying something about I would take the only time space for tomorrow then puts me on hold for five minutes. What?I couldn’t even make the appointment. And good luck talking to anyone else to get help one rude person putting you on hold no manager so you can never make the appointment because you’re a new patient and she purposely didn’t want to give it to you. Poor dogs this exclusivity behavior is so pretentious.
Westsdie Vetrinary is wonderful. Ive been a client for 20 years and a client of Dr Rosenthals for 25 years. They have treated both my dogs and cats, all of whom had very long healthy lives becasue of the advise and treatments I got here. I would never even consider anyone or anywhwere else.
I have never had a single bad experience. Ive taken my puppy here since she was 8 weeks old. Shes 6 months now, has had zero issues with the different vets she has seen or the staff. Her spay went amazingly and she was back to herself the second she got used to her cone at home. Ill definitely be coming here her entire life.
The Vets, nurses, and staff at Westside Veterinary Center are TOP NOTCH! My girlfriend and I rescued a puppy recently and have had several visits with Dr. Chiverton who gave our pup a much better experience than I have ever had at my physicians office! She was warm and loving, keeping a genuine interest in the progress of our puppys health, giving helpful advice along the way.The nurses are pleasant, helpful, and experienced. They were warm and friendly to our puppy who can be quite rambunctious and hard to deal with in certain circumstances. The staff is extremely friendly as well, greeting everyone with smiles and go above and beyond to make your overall experience a great one.I would highly recommend this vet center to anyone in or around the area who hasnt been to try them out - you will NOT regret it!
Professional, welcoming, and quality first - Westside Vet has provided us consistently great service for our puppy. We feel confident bringing him and at ease asking questions. The staff are very attentive and not only does our dog feel stress-free, so do we. From the patience of the administrators to the attentive doctors, Westside Vet provides a high quality of care and is highly recommended.
We were looking to change from my past Vet, New York Veterinary Hospital because of distance and price and found positive reviews for Westside Veterinary Center. We are so happy we made the switch! I brought my cat Jim to see Dr. Lewis and immediately felt comfortable with her and all the staff. When we adopted our dog Stella, she was so helpful and positive and helped us cure her of some hair loss that she was experiencing. The staff is very helpful and helped us with Pet Insurance options and are very flexible with the scheduling. As long as we live in the city, I will continue to go to Westside Veterinary Center. We highly recommend it to anyone looking to switch or looking for a reliable veterinary office.
In spring 2019, my puppy was attacked and bitten in the face. They arranged for us to be seen very quickly. Dr Lauren seemed very caring and patient. 4 instead of 5 stars because they separated me from my dog to clip the wound area and flush it. I would have preferred to stay with her. Will go back there. It was clean and the staff were helpful and nice.Jan 2020: Last week I went back to the clinic when my dog had an ear infection. Dr Lauren moved to California so I saw Dr. Rutherford. She was kind, gentle, patient and thorough. Two things stood out:1. At the time of the visit, my pup was also due for shots but they could not administer all on them at the same day so Dr Rutherford arranged for the next round of shots to given by a nurse - no appt necessary and no visit fee.2. Dr Rutherford phoned three days after our visit to check up on how my pup was doing. It was a nice touch and I plan to make her my pups primary caretaker in the future.Highly recommended!
I bring both of my dogs to Westside, and the care that they have received is excellent. It is a welcoming place. The only aspect that I am not crazy about is that I see a different vet almost every time, which makes for less than optimal continuity - but I also contrition this as my schedule is difficult so I cant pick an appointment when a particular doc is there. They are warm and caring with my fur babies, and I trust the care that they receive. A bit pricier than some, but worth it for piece of mi d.
I have used Westside Veterinary Center for 20 years and I have always felt listened to and have felt my beloved companions have gotten the best care I could ever hope for. They have been there for me in every supportive way through the happy times and the inevitable sad times. In addition to having first rate doctors, their nursing staff in extraordinary. To put it succinctly, Westside Vet is a first rate veterinary center.
I have been going to Westside Vet for years with both of my large German shepherd dogs. All of the doctors that treated my dogs were good, but Dr. Karen Cantor is the BEST. She has always been attentive and accessible! If I needed her and left her a message, she always got right back to me. Even while on vacation. I felt secure in her hands with my large babies. I have recommended someone recently to Westside Vet and they love Westside Veterinary too. One of my 12 year babies just died, I bought her to Westside Veterinary Center and they loving took care of her for me. But should i get another dog, I will definitely bring them to Westside Veterinary Center.
I only recently started going there, as my cat is getting older and having some joint issues. They were all very nice and courteous. It is also a great location for me. Dr. Rutherford is a very thorough practitioner and was very gentle and sweet with my grumpy cat. He is having some new issues and, again she is very thorough with the options we have and is giving me the best guidance as how to proceed, step by step. Aside from some billing mistakes, it has been a terrific experience going there.
Generally speaking, these seem to be good people, however I recently dropped my dog off for blood work and asked the doctor to just take a quick look at her leg, which she was favoring. The doctor took a *very quick* and perfunctory look and said I need to see a specialist. Cost me $80, that quick look, Not everyone on the UWS is a rich stay-at-home mom.
The doctors at Westside Vet are amazing. They love the animals, are extremely caring, not to mention knowledgeable and professional. Ive met a couple of doctors who are all great, and Dr. Lewis, our main vet, is especially attentive and just the best. The supporting staff are all very nice and never says no to my dog begging for petting. Their 24/7 emergency service also offers a great peace of mind - my dog once got bitten late at night before I learned dog first aid, and I rushed him to Westside and he was immediately attended to by a nurse and the doctor came soon too and prescribed antibiotics.I recommend Westside to anyone who wants the best care for their furry friends!
Weve been taking our furkids to the Westside Veterinary Center since 2013. The front desk staff are always so helpful; the place is very clean and everyone weve dealt with very professional. But I have to say, the main reason this veterinary clinic gets five stars from me is Dr. Rutherford. She is incredibly nice, gentle, personable, knowledgeable, and -- just by watching her handle my doggies, and any other pet under her care -- you can tell she truly loves her job. Shes one of a kind.
HIGHLY RECOMMEND!It was my first time here with a 10week old puppy and although I had to drop off the pup due to Covid restrictions, the nurses and vet were so incredibly kind and attentive.Speaking on the phone with the vet about my puppy’s vaccines and health, I could just tell by the sound of the vet’s voice that she truly cared.I won’t go anywhere else! Price is reasonable and they explain each charge throughly.I left with a healthy puppy and peace of mind!
I had a great experience at Westside Veterinary. My appointment was very prompt and the doctor and nurses were super efficient with time. Coco (my cat) also had the best experience possible and the Vet was more than willing to talk through various options so that I could find preventative care that fit within my budget. They also have a wide arrange of foods and treats, which makes it easy to stop in only one place for all my cat-related needs. Ill definitely be coming back!
Westside Veterinary Center did an incredible job taking care of my pet--and my family. My daughter found a large tumor on her gerbil last week. Dr Cantor and the surgeon fixed our pet up, and the staff was fabulous. Everyone we spoke with was efficient and supportive. They made what could have been a very difficult situation into something that felt safe and easy. Thank you!!!
Highly recommend them. Dr Bodkin is great with my dogs, as well as nurses and front desk staff, they are very welcoming and nice with all pets they see. They dont over medicate them like their previous vet, and only do the necessary tests and keep track well of all vaccines and treatments they need. Overall best Veterinary I know.
I bring my dwarf hamster into this location for the PROFESSIONAL VET to tell me his surgery would be traumatic. She held my sons hamster in the air and as if she hates rodent pets to tell me what I already know then they charge me $125 with no follow up or anymore questioned almost like she was upset me and my son found this location. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY OR TIME IF YOU HAVE A FERRET,HAMSTER,RABBIT,RAT,GERBIL or any other rodent pet. THESE PEOPLE WILL NOT HELP YOU AT ALL!😡 VERY DISAPPOINTING.
Westside Veterinary center has been so efficient as for my experience. They have always made time for Manchis / my emergence issues.I can also say they have great communication it is definitely on point!. This facility is comforting the Dr.s and Staff are extremely friendly and warm welcoming . Dr Luis Thank you for fitting us in last min it worked out great!!Cheyenne Morales & Manchi
This was my first visit to Westside Veterinary Center and I was extremely satisfied from the minute I walked in the door. The office staff was very friendly and offered to help with my elderly dog. I was able to see a doctor very quickly. Dr. Rutherford was extremely compassionate and helped make my dog feel very comfortable. She reviewed her test results and gave her medication accordingly. It was a wonderful first visit experience. They also gave a follow up call which impressed me.
Wed previously used another vet on the UWS, but after rescuing a new puppy, we decided to try Westside based on the strong recommendations of dog run friends. Turns out, they were right: the team at Westside has been wonderful, responsive, thoughtful, friendly, and professional. Well be sticking with them, and would definitely recommend you check them out, too!
Over the years, I have worked with several of the vets at Westside, and I have found all of them to be caring, responsive, and very professional. Most recently, Dr. Colby was especially caring and patient with my older, ornery cat. I would whole-heartedly recommend this vet clinic, they do an excellent job of caring for our fur babies (and us!)
This was my first time taking my dog to them and I have to say I had a wonderful experience. The receptionist, nurses and doctors are very friendly and loving to my pup. This is going to be our vet office going forward. Best referral I have ever received on a vets office.
A friend recommended this place when my cat was having a pretty terrible allergic reaction to his vaccines. The staff and Dr. Lauren were just perfect. They gave me a plan of action on the phone so I knew what to expect when I got to their ER (on a snowy Saturday evening no less). Dr. Lauren gave me updates every 15 minutes and I was able to take my cat home that evening. In NYC, its hard to find good people -- people that are really accommodating and supremely competent. And Westside Vet Center are good people.
I have trusted Dr. Brodsky and his team with my dogs since he first opened his practice. They’ve taken care of 7 of my pets and I have always felt the time and attention devoted to each patient is amazing. The staff is a friendly group of problem solvers who never let you down. The best Vet practice in Manhattan.
West side Vet has cared for our dogs for over 20 years. They have helped us introduce new rescues into our family, cared for them and have been there for our family when it was time to say goodbye. Through the years, we have only had good experiences. Our favorite vet is Dr Napolitiano. She is kind, patient, thorough, and trustworthy.
Westside Veterinary Center is simply the BEST Vet Center in New York! Dr. Lewis is the most kind, caring and knowledgeable Vet I have ever worked with, and both of my animals love her and everyone else at the Center. I cannot say enough good things about them. Every single person, doctors, nurses and all of the staff are knowledgeable, caring and efficient. I will never go anywhere else.
The veterinarians at West Side Vet never steer me wrong when it comes to our two dogs and cat. Theyve taken such good care or our little ones and always follow with a phone call the next day to see how theyre doing. The office is clean and friendly and I always feel like our pets will be treated with love and care.
Our first appointment was at a busy time so they were running a bit late. Our vet was extremely caring and attentive and gave us confidence about our recently adopted senior dog. Since there is a large staff, a little surprised at the wait. Also the woman that checked us out did not provide us with a detailed invoice and was a bit curt. Had to ask to have one, thus the 4 instead of 5 star rating
I adopted my little Pluto about a year ago and was taking him to another vet, but the experience there was less than stellar, not to mention far away. The staff at the other practice was short and rude, the doctor never gave more than 5 minutes to even get to know us, and after my last visit there, I decided I wanted to find a place closer to home and find a new vet.....I looked around online and came across Westside Veterinary Center. From the first phone call everyone was super friendly and professional, and my experience over the past two visits has been great and couldn’t think of going anywhere else. As I travel frequently for work, and Pluto comes along with me at times, finding a USDA certified doctor was important, and we were matched with Dr. Melanie Friedman. Dr. Friedman is thorough and kind, and took an interest in me and my pet. I felt like I wasn’t just another patient among many. The front desk staff is great and is very helpful as well. So glad I found this place and hope to continue being a client for years to come!
I have 2 cat who have been going to the Westside Vet Center for eight years now, since they were kittens. The doctors and staff at the Vet Center have been nothing less than professional, yet show a great love and concern for my pets. I trust them with my two pets. Prior to these two cat I had 2 others who were also cared by by the staff. All my cats have been pure bred animals which I care for and trust to the staff at Westside without reservations. I highly recommend them for their knowledge and care for any pet put under their care.
Westside Vet is a warm and welcoming place that really focuses both on the patient and on the patients human family. We have only had great experiences with everyone there, including staff members and doctors. Our dog liked going there, which speaks for itself - he wagged his tail when he saw his friends (the caretakers) and happily boarded there as well, with no fear. They took great care of him throughout his life When he became ill they couldnt have been kinder or more compassionate and helped us through a very difficult time. Very highly recommended!
Every interaction we have had with this great team of vets and staff has just been amazing, and completely reduces the stress of bringing in a yowling cat for a check up or illness. I cant recommend it enough; every single person here has always been extremely kind, helpful, informative, understanding, and, most of all, really caring about every animal that passes through the doors. We come from a few neighborhoods away to have our pets treated here because theyre simply the best.
Our rescue terrier spent a few weeks under the care of Dr. Melanie Friedman. I could not imagine a better experience. Our dog adores his vet! He was treated with love, warmth, and attentive thoughtfulness. He almost didnt want to leave! When he returned to our home, he was stronger and healthier than ever, and even better mannered! Dr. Friedman was always available to offer updates and advice, and has a straightforward and calming approach to treatment and caregiving advice. I recommend this vet practice, and especially Dr. Friedman, very highly!!!
I recently moved to NYC. Unfortunately my doggie had a bit of a tooth emergency. I wasnt sure where to take her, so I did my research online and came across Westside Veterinary Center. Im usually skeptical when I come across a place that has so many positive reviews online, but due to my dogs emergency I decided to give it a shot. I am so happy I did. I was truly impressed by the way they treated me and my Roxy. I didnt even have an appointment scheduled, they told me I could just drop in. I thought for sure I would have to wait at least an hour for a vet to see us-NOPE- the vet saw us right away. I use the word vet, but instead I should call her an Angel. Dr. Rutherford took such great care of Roxy. As soon as she saw her, she was able to diagnose her, and make her comfortable and without pain. Roxy ended up having oral surgery, and a few teeth extracted. Angel Rutherford was Roxys surgeon and saw her every step of the way. Roxy is now perfectly fine, chewing on her little toys and being the happy little doggie she has always been. I truly recommend Westside Veterinary Center to anyone, this place is what all Veterinary Centers should be like. You can tell every employee here really care and love what they do!P.S. the prices were very reasonable. Oral surgery on a dog can be quite pricey. I was expecting a big bill, but was relieved to find that everything was priced fairly.
Ive been taking my dog here for 2 years and had no issues previously. I have no issues with the vets. Lately, however, the receptionists have been incredibly rude. Keyanna, in particular, talked down to me, was very unprofessional, and put me on an abrupt hold without telling me she was putting me on hold while i was talking, and another receptionist picked up and apologized for her behavior. I was calling because I was concerned about my pup and trying to get an appt asap. There was no reason to be so rude. The next receptionist calmly explained to me the situation and I understood completely.
Ive been bringing my animals to Westside for more than 20 years. Dr. Brodsky has been incredible as has the great office staff (my favorite twins), nurses and techs.Special thanks to Murray. My pets have had surgery (Dr. Kasovsky is superb) and dental work with great results. Leaving them in the hospital overnight has been as stress free as possible. Ive called at 2:00 AM and was able to speak to a caring staff member for an update. A couple of years ago, when my 17 year old poodle was very ill and his time had come, the kindness and caring shown me by Dr. B and everyone at Westside made an extremely difficult day a little easier. Ive known nothing but professionalism and high quality care at Westside Veterinary Center. I highly recommend them.
Dr Rutherford and Dr Cantor and Dr. Kosovsky are all wonderful ❣. The staff at the desk are 99% of the time very friendly and caring. I am usually seen within 10 minutes of arrival or sooner. All three Dr.s take their time and I never feel rushed. My little teacup poodle pup has received wonderful care. She recently got spayed and had a baby tooth pulled and it all went very well. They even had her sleep with her favorite toy since she had to stay overnight. I recommend the three Vets I mentioned above. I dont know about any of the other Dr.s there
Have used this practice for thirty years for my pets and our store cats! I could never ask for better care for my babies--Dr. B. is the best but in emergencies I have seen other vets and been very happy. Have had many procedures done there, teeth, neutering, etc. All resolved very happily. The staff, especially Crystal and Murray not to mention Dina are all terrific.
Selecting a vet is very difficult in this city, but Westside is an excellent choice. Pleasant and responsive staff who genuinely care about your pets, and vets who seem thoroughly engaged and committed to their vocation. A quality vet is expensive, so be aware that serious and competent care comes at a premium. My experience with my new little pal--a random stray who adopted me was first rate. He had an emergency visit to see if he was chipped and in good health, and then a longer visit to be chipped, vaccinated and neutered. The level of care Eliot received was second-to-none and the offices followups were reassuring. Westside will be Eliots forever vets.
My husband and I have had dogs for many years and over the course of those years have lived in several places and had several veterinarians. Westside Veterinary Center is by far the best experience we have ever had. The staff could not be kinder or more caring. The doctors are so knowledgeable and so effective in treating our dog. It is truly truly a wonderful place to bring a pet.
Dr Karen Cantor DVM & (Certified Avian) has been seeing my African Grey, Trouble (thats his name) since I became his human in 2001. In addition, shes treated my cat, Queenie who passed in 2015 after 16 wonderful years. Dr Cantor and staff also treat Rooney, Queenies great-great grand-kid.The entire team at Westside is beyond wonderful, professional and caring. When Queenie was older and needed medication, I hired (with the blessing of West Side) one of the veterinary technicians to come to our home and give Queenie her medications when we were traveling. When it was time for Queenie to pass, I didnt want to further traumatize her with a cab-ride, so another clinic cared for her and helped both of us with the transition and grief - A week later, I received a lovely sympathy card from Karen and Westside. Really, they loved her as much as I did.In closing, Westside is such a great team. We live downtown, yet travel to Westside because of the level of care and the wonderful people. Highly recommend Westside Veterinary, and especially Dr Karen Cantor for anyone with a companion parrot!
Westside is absolutely outstanding. Dr Cantor has treated my dog and cats for almost 20 years with state of the art care and compassion. The entire staff is wonderful. Their 24h emergency care and hospital are added features. You can even call the nurse in the middle of the night to check on your hospitalized pet! The best in NYC by far.
Weve been going to Westside Veterinary Center since 1995, when we got our first cat, Mouser. We took our dog, Finbar, there for 15 years, and Dr. Bodkin did an amazing job treating his cancer! He lived far longer than expected, and a very high quality of life as well.Lately weve been seeing Dr. Kim, who is amazing. We have a cat, Georgianna, and a dog, Auguste, who get GREAT treatment there. Even though weve moved, we still travel to Westside rather than find a vet closer to our homes because theyre just so great.
I had my first experience with Westside Vets yesterday, and it was a great one. The level of genuine interest in my pets well-being, the professionalism at the front and back offices/rooms and cleanliness was top notch. It was a comforting experience and we will definitely be using Westside Vets for the years to come.Highly Recommend!!
For 16 years, Dr. Kim Rosenthal has been caring for my chocolate cocker spaniels. She is an excellent diagnostician, patient and so loving to all the animals I have seen her with. And especially noteworthy, she doesn’t order tests unless absolutely necessary. The nurses and front office (especially Tina and Gina) are all so professional and helpful. I live on the east side and happily come crosstown for the overall excellent care I receive at Westside Vet!
Westside Veterinary Center is the absolute best. I have brought three generations of dogs there and theyve always been incredibly knowledgeable and compassionate. One of my late dogs was attacked and nearly killed. Dr. Cantor and the amazing team at Westside -- including several other wonderful vets, a surgeon, nurses, technicians, and the administrative staff -- took care of her as if she were their own. They literally saved her life, and she loved to come back afterward and visit her friends. Dr. Cantor and co. were also with her and my husband and me when it was time to say goodbye several years later and were as heartbroken as I was. I cant recommend Westside highly enough. Your pets will get great care seven days a week, including evening office hours, and even after hours with an on-call vet -- and youll feel taken care of, too.
Twice now during the pandemic I have needed to take my cat to the vet - once for a dental problem and once because she just seemed to not feel well. Both times my experience was fantastic - the very professional doctors took wonderful care of my precious girl and spent a lot of time on the phone with me, carefully explaining everything and putting my mind at ease.
Up until yesterdays visit to this establishment, I would have given them 5 stars and raved about their services. Dont get me wrong, I have been taking my two chihuahuas to Westside Veterinary Center for the past 4 or 5 years. My husband and I both love Dr. Rutherford. She is the best! My K-9s love her and we love her. Unfortunately, the front line staff at this center are not as caring, empathetic, and trustworthy as she is. I booked an appointment for 11:20 am yesterday for my oldest chi, Nana. Shes elderly and we worry about her a lot. After her latest mishap, she stopped eating and seemed to be in pain. Although we live in Riverdale (The Bronx), we still commute to the upper west side for our veterinary needs. On our way there, I saw that we were running 10 minutes late. I stopped to call and let them know we were running late but were almost there. The woman at the front desk stated, well, Im sorry but Dr. Rutherford may not be available, youre running late and shes busy with other patients that were on time. I could not believe what I was hearing. In the midst of my panic, I realized that we were literally two blocks away. I ran to the center, walked in and said, I was the woman who just called. Im willing to wait to have my dog seen by Dr. Rutherford because I just traveled for an hour to get here. The woman behind the desk said, sign in and the time is 11:38 a.m. I settled in determined to wait a couple of hours. Three minutes later, they called Nana in. Dr. Rutherfords patient sweet demeanor and thorough assessment and reassurance helped eased my anxiety. But I cant stop thinking of that woman behind the desk that tried to get us to go home! I wish I had asked for her name. BTW, Nana is doing so much better and Dr. Rutherford is the reason we will continue to patronize Westside Veterinary Center.
Been going here for about 7+ years. I like a couple of the vets and they work with me on the care of my cats; they are Dr. Lewis and Dr. Rutherford. They are good!!! And a few of the nurse are good. BUT they have gotten very pricy in the past year or so. I was charged $1700 for my cat to stay overnight with a GI tract issue. Really? Some of the pet owners who bring their pets there have drivers, maids etc. I dont. Even with the senior discount its become out of my price range. I may have to look elsewhere. If you have money and dont mind waiting a long time to speak with someone on the phone, by all means go there.
Love these guys! They all love animals but still tell you like it is. It is a very friendly environment but also professional. I never have trouble getting an appointment or speaking to someone on the phone. My vet Dr. Chiverton is excellent and has a great love for her patients. She is also to the point, doesnt guess, give you options, and listens to you. Very refreshing. I would recommend this center to everyone.
The pet care experience at Westside Vet Center is a continuum of excellence, from making an appointment to being processed at the front desk to seeing a staff Vet to ultimately and most importantly securing appropriate care for your pet (in my case, our dog) and finally to providing the documents to submit to your pet insurance policy. I believe their point of view, certainly in my experience, is to err on the side of conservative measures, instead of opting for the full monty immediately. The Vet who saw and treated our dog was Dr Rutherford, who was absolutely first tier in all respects.
My wife and I have been using West Side Vet for almost 20 years now for our dogs. The front desk staff is great (thank you Ruben and crew) and the veterinary staff is knowledgeable and compassionate - especially Dr. Jaime Napolitano who has been our primary vet for our dogs for many years. She makes going to see the vet an enjoyable experience for pet and pet owner alike!
Ive been taking my cockapoo to Dr Lewis for seven years now and I cant recommend Westside Veterinary highly enough. The staff is super friendly, the follow-up is great and Dr Lewis is fantastic. The entire operation is a well-oiled machine and everyone truly loves animals. I appreciate how the whole team works to care for my sweet dog.
I love Westside Veterinary! Dr. Rutherford is incredibly kind, smart, and accommodating. She checks in on my cat, and shes always willing to work with me to figure out whats best economically, too. Ive always been able to get an appointment, too, which has been hard in my experience at other offices.
Dr. Kim Rosenthal is an amazing vet and has taken care of my cat since I first adopted her 15 years ago. Now approaching 17, she continues to be in the most capable hands, especially as she has age-related health issues.Dr. Rosenthal treats my cat as if it was her own and Im grateful to have her as my vet. And, its important to know that everyone at Westside Veterinary Center is helpful and responsive and genuinely cares! From the doctors, receptionists and vet techs, they create a warm and great experience for all pet owners.
Ive used Westside for all my pets for the past thirty years. Although I generally use one vet there in particular, Ive seen others in an emergency and every one of them has been super, not only caring for my pet in the office, but by following up with calls days later to see how shes doing. The staff is friendly and helpful, the hours are generous, and the care is outstanding. They also offer boarding services which has come in handy when Ive had to go away at the last minute.
Dr. Rutherford is a supreme vet! She has been caring for my elder cat since before her dx with Cancer. After her mastectomy, she is still going strong. I am never disappointed by the staff or Dr. Rutherford. Her kindness, patience and manner is simply beyond compassionate. Love her and would recommend her very highly! Thank you Westside !
It is with great honor that I write this review. My dogs name is Napoleon and he is 15 years and 10 months! He has been a client of Westside for his entire life and is still going pretty strong. The staff is highly professional - as you and yourfury childare always greeted and made to feel special. I have experienced excellent care for the 15 years that I have been a client. The Veterinarians are extremely talented, extraordinarily skilled, attentive to detail and on point with follow up. I would also like to thank Murray for always taking my intermittent frantic panic calls and calming my nerves! Dr. Napolitano, I thank you for your amazing care and concern for Napoleon over the years. I consider you the original dog whisperer/healer with your acute diagnosis and excellent prescribed treatments.Keep up the stellar work Westside! I would (and do) recommend Westside, without reservation, to all discerning owners who expect exceptional care and genuine concern for their pets.
Every time I have visited the Westside Veterinary Center I have been amazed and comforted by the attention and care shown. Sadly two of my cats needed to be euthanized and the staff was incredibly supportive. These folks are the best in their field. Dr. Kim Rosenthal is brilliant. I recommend her and this place wholeheartedly!
I bring my cat to Dr. Brodsky. He has been practicing vet medicine for many years and is very knowledgeable. He always takes the time to listen to whatever worries or questions I may have and does a very thorough job examining my kitty. I’ve had bad experiences in the past with other vets, but never with Dr. Brodsky. I know he does everything possible to make sure my cat is and stays healthy. The other staff members are also professional and nice.
Dr. Kim Rosenthal is one of the most compassionate and professional people I have ever met in my life. All of the staff I have met at Westside Veterinary have been kind and concerned. I recently lost my beloved cat Buster to heart disease and because of the way Kim informed me and prepared me it made the most difficult decision of my life so far much easier. I have dealt with other vets at this clinic and they are all excellent, but because of who Kim is as a human being I would never consider taking a pet to anyone else.
West Side Vet Center Is truly an extraordinary place. They are entirely trustworthy compassionate and accommodating. I cannot express enough how much they have helped my family and my pet. I usually don’t do reviews but my pets are my life and I want to spread the word about how good this place really is. Their prices are always good and I got quoted the same price originally from the ASPCA for sub par service. I’ve been taking my dogs there for about ten years and will never go anywhere else. The only thing I can honestly say is a bit disheartening is that recently they have hired a new receptionist. I’m sure without naming her, most will know exactly who I’m referring to.She is outwardly miserable, condescending and honestly rude. Upon walking in, I was greeted with an eyeroll and was cut off mid sentence to her quick, sharp interruption. I feel everyone’s entitled to a bad day but I have visited two occasions after and she seems more brazen with attitude when dealing with people. I tend to stay away and wait for another receptionist. Theres usually two or so. If you do go, Please, don’t let her discourage you from staying. Everyone else there is amazing and its the BEST care for your pet.
I brought my elderly cat to this vet hospital for the first time in 2015. She has been cared for by three different doctors and they are all stellar. The care is thorough and the cost is reasonable. They fought to help my cat recover and are seeing her thru a serious infection. I couldn’t be happier with the care and compassion.
Kim Rosenthal is an amazing vet who has cared for my mothers cats over 20+ years and just saved my cats life after a severe urinary obstruction. Everyone on the staff is extremely kind and helpful. It is easy to see that it is a place where animals are truly loved. Do your pet a favor and take them here!
Cannot say enough wonderful things about Westside doctors and staff. When I found a stray and needed immediate help, they squeezed us in right away. He hadnt been spayed and sprayed the pet carrier. When I came to pick him up after the procedure, they brought him out in a new carrier free of charge. They are loving and thoughtful and really good at what they do. Ive called at 3 in the morning when my cat was sick and someone was there to help. Ive never experienced a vet practice that was so accessible.
The Westside Vet Center and our wonderful Dr. Bodkin have provided us with exceptional care during the lives of our first and now second Yorkshire Terriers. The service has been exceptional in terms of professionalism, a caring attitude and very efficient and courteous administration. We are very fortunate to have been provided with such great care for over 10 years. THANK YOU.
I was very apprehensive about bringing my cat, William in. While I was away he scratched his eye and he looked miserable. I was able to get a same day appointment with Dr. Colby. I could not be more impressed or pleased with her professionalism and compassioante care. She obviously loves cats and was kind and gentle to my grumpy Persian. I left feeling better and William did too. Two days later I received a follow up call from her asking about William and his eye. I cannot say enough about the quality of care he received and her support staff. We will be back!
It is a pleasure to provide an update to my 2018 review. Recently we had to help my cat Max to transition. Dr.J Napolitano supported me with all the delicate details of the decision. Her assistant, Daisy was specially caring towards Max during his transition. Ensuring we both went through the experience with dignity and compassion. One cannot go wrong by choosing #westsidevet as the health care provider for our fur babies!
Great place, even when I lost a pet. Very supportive and comforting. So much so, that I came back with my next pet. Love Dr. Brodsky! Very knowledgeable and gives me the honest truth. Never tries to get me to spend more than I need to, which makes me trust and value him. The staff is always helpful and friendly. I always recommend Westside any time someone is looking for a vet.
Dr Bodkin has been wonderful with my elderly cat. We have spent the last 3 years trying to keep him doing well; he has serious lung/breathing issues. We communicate via email, with very fast responses from her. And when I go in for her to examine my cat, she explains everything, reviews the x-rays with me, etc. I highly recommend Dr. Bodkin.
The vets, techs, and support staff are nothing short of amazing! Bringing our kitty in as a first time emergency patient was incredibly stressful and scary, but we immediately knew he was in good hands just after our first exchange at the reception desk.We had the pleasure of interacting with 4 different vets over the course of 8 days (we popped in to visit often and whoever was on duty would come in and chat with us), and they all showed genuine concern for our boy and great understanding of what was going on. The whole process was very intimate which really helped a pair of frantic parents. From initial checkup, to testing, diagnosing, and lastly supportive treatment, our boy definitely received the best treatment a cat can get. From sitting in the waiting room a bunch, I could see that they have a lot of long time patients and everyone seemed to be on a first name basis and the animals were all happy (for the most part) to be visiting. If youre in need of excellent pet care, look no further!
Dr. Bodkin provided very useful and practical (and cost effective) treatment to our miniature dachshund, who had been suffering form diarrhea for some time and was mildly dehydrated. She suggested that he get intravenous fluids and spend the afternoon at the clinic facilities. He did do and was back to his normal self promptly. This was our first trip but we have no hesitation recommending the services. All of the staff were humane and friendly.
I LOVE WESTSIDE! I have been taking my cats there for at least 15 years and always receive prompt and thorough service. My favorite vet is Dr Bodkin, but everyone works together there, from the front desk staff to the nurse techs and hospital staff. All issues are taken into consideration: pet health, budget and owners spiritual health (regarding their pets) too!
My two cats have been patients for 17 years, ever since I adopted them from the clinic (they used to do adoptions). I have had several vets over the years and have always been satisfied. My current vet, Dr. Jamie Napolitano, has been especially sensitive to my old kitties - 16 and 17 yrs. Always time to listen to my concerns and ready with information, esp. regarding elderly cats.
The staff here take such good care of us, more importantly our aging pup, each time we visit. Whether he has an upset stomach or he’s thrown his neck out, they are so thorough to determine what’s happening and do it with such care. He recently had to stay over night and it was so hard on us but we knew he was in great hands. The front desk always accommodates us with ease for emergency visits! We used to live a few blocks away but moved further north so we’ve debated finding a vet closer but just can’t go anywhere else. We trust them too much!
Absolutely fabulous front desk staff and clinicians! We noticed our poor little do was bleeding from her rear and called them very late on a rainy night, thinking there was no way they would see us. However, they were very accommodating on the phone and said we could walk-in asap. As soon as we got there, we were greeted by kind staff and a well-lit, clean, modern office. Then, we had the pleasure of working with Dr. Tamika Lewis, who provided a wonderful experience. She was kind with our dog, who is normally a little skittish around the vet, and was able to relieve her of her pain and give us great instructions to help her heal. Cant say enough good things about Dr. Lewis and the experience in general here. HIGHLY recommend them, as we will be going there for her regular visits from now on.
These pros are SOOO fantastic. They treat us with care and they pay attention. My English Bulldog is in fantastic health - in no small part due to Westside Veterinary Center. We went through a few different vets before we found Dr. Brodsky and his amazing staff...the others were nowhere near the level this team is. THANK YOU Dr. B and team - for taking such good care of our family member, Dexter.
I absolutely love Westside Veterinary Center. Everyone who works there is knowledgeable, dedicated, caring, and friendly. We have always trusted them with our pets throughout the years, and they have never let us down. They also offer 24 hour emergency services, so you can call them anytime, and dont need to use a separate specialist, hospital, or have multiple offices on call depending on what problem arises and when it arises. Everything you could possibly need for your pet, no matter what time of day or night, Westside Veterinary Center provides the service. I definitely recommend Westside Veterinary Center for all your animal family members!
Today, my wifes and my 12 year old, diabetic mini-schnauzer Mr. Higgins had a terrible day, after a wonky weekend. His urinating had increased, as had his hunger, and today he started vomiting. We did not have an appointment. It was 4:15pm on Tuesday. I called Westside Vet and asked for his doctor, Dr. Kim Rosenthal. She was finished for the day and was leaving. I asked the receptionist to let her know that her know that it was Higgins-I thought she would want to know., as she is his doctor (she saved him 2 years go. He wouldnt be here without her-he was 10 then). Long story short-she stayed. She waited for me to bring him, and then stayed with him as he was tested. She spoke to me during and after. She didnt leave until 5:45pm. This kind of commitment, is rare to find. I am a teacher, so bills can be daunting. This said, Dr. Rosenthal will love your baby like no other.
I discovered Westside when I was looking for an acupuncturist in NYC for my pup. Dr. Yim is one of the accredited vet acupuncturists through the most rigorous accreditation for the field is how I found them.I use Dr. Yim for acupuncture and am very happy with Dr. Colby for the check ups and ill visits. Dr. Colby graduated from one of the best vet schools in the nation, I feel very comfortable with folks who graduated from that school. Both have excellent expertise and take great care. I wouldnt go to anyone else. Both of my dogs underwent dental procedures with them earlier this year and I was quite happy with the process and their care.As an added bonus the front desk team has become a lot more responsive to emailing scanned documents this year :)I would not hesitate to recommend as your go to vet practice and the bonus of them being a hospital means they are there in case of an emergency.
Excellent care is what the Doctors and staff provided for my 19 year old cat and his family. When the time came to let our four legged kid crossover, Dr.Chiverton and staff were so supportive and compassionate, it was like being with family.Trust is what comes to mind when I think of the Westside Veterinary Center, and thats not easy to come by.
Westside Vet is full of staff who really care about not only my precious Yorkiepoo but about me, too. Their compassion for my worries about her health always surprises - and supports - me. And she loves them, too. Theres so much experience in this practice that I feel completely confident about her care in their hands. And the reception staff is not only friendly...but funny. :-) Thank you for taking care of my puppy, and me.
The knowledge, patience and generosity of the doctors, nurse and staff at Westside Veterinary are unsurpassed. Regardless of the severity or complications of the visit (I have both a cat and a dog) we are always met with kindness, and our concerns handled responsibly and ably. I have seen this office contend with highly stressful and difficult situations with focus, grace and quick intelligence. Wonderful.
Weve had two mini dachshunds over the course of 25 years and both were lifelong clients of Westside Vet. Not only are they true pros at what they do, they are more caring and compassionate than 95% of the doctors and nurses taking care of human beings! My wife and I cannot recommend them more highly. When we get dog #3 we will again be trusting his/her health and wellbeing to Westside Vet. Look no further.
I was attended by Dr. Lewis who was awesome and a pleasure to work with. Dr. Lewis, along with the rest of the staff are professional, knowledgeable, and caring. Also, their prices are reasonable and I did not feel like I was forced to do extra unnecessary diagnostics or tests. I’m glad I found a reliable vet nearby for my dog Kito so close to home!
Ive never written a review. Hell, I dont even like reading reviews. But Westside Veterinary Center came through for one of my two cats when he was so ill that I felt like I was living with a stranger cat. He wasnt eating or drinking or using the litterbox, and he was constantly in hiding.Having not taken the cats out of the apartment in some time, I didnt know how to get him into the now too-small carrying case. But (Gail?) the receptionist, who was one of the sweetest human beings Ive ever encountered, talked me through it on the phone with the patience of a hostage crisis negotiator.Dr. Lauren took care my cat, giving him a thorough examination and giving me a couple of treatment options. I chose to let him spend the night, during which his symptoms were treated. Dr. Lauren called me that evening as well as the next morning and afternoon to give me status updates. I picked up a cat that was almost completely back to his old self, and by the next day it was like nothing had been wrong at all.Dr. Lauren called again a couple of days later to follow up and make sure I was following her instructions. She gave me tips on how to deal with the other cats refusal to accept his brother back into the household - there was hissing. Its all good now.As I write this, my two cats are snuggled on top of each other in their favorite spot.Everything about my first experience with this vet center was more than I expected. Thank you, Dr. Lauren and everyone else who helped!
We have had two of our dogs in the care of Westside and cannot speak higher of them. From our regular vet to any of the support staff and other doctors and nurses, we have never received anything but the best care and completely personable service no matter when the appointment or whatever the need. Highly recommended.
Weve used the Westside Veterinary clinic for over 20 years. When our dogs were sick, it is the only place to go! The vets are excellent, and you can have a favorite vet like we do. Jaime Napolitano is smart, kind, and fully capable of caring for a sick animal like our Golden retriever was. The Hospital is run very well and whomever is taking care of your pet, while in the hospital, the vet is in touch with you. You cant get better service from vet techs, vets, and office staff!
Dr. Rosenthal is my primary vet but they are all great. Dr. Rosenthal came highly recommended from a long-time pet owner in my building. She has taken wonderful care of my rescue, Annie, and when I was concerned about Annie during Dr. Rs vacation - she called me directly. She is the best vet possible - I wish my doctors were so committed to her patients.
LOVE Westside Vet! One of my cats is a HOT MESS. He has neurological issues and issues with allergies so Ive had to assemble a dream team of specialists all over NYC to care for his various needs. Ive been to four different veterinary practices in the past 3 months (because Westside doesnt have the MRI and other equipment to diagnose the neurological issues) and Westside is by far the best. Doctor Rutherford is amazing, and my cats love her. I live in Harlem and even though there are veterinarians closer to me, I shlep my cats to Westside for their care. I really cant recommend them enough.
We the proud owners of two cats (and one kid). The people at West Side Veterinary Center are so nice, caring and accommodating that the visit to the vet is actually a pleasure. Cat people should not be concerned that they also cater to dogs, they do a great job with cats too!
Simply awesome, my dog Josie could not be in better hands. Ive brought her to WSV for a number of reasons -- a sudden swollen paw, a pink eye episode out of the blue as well as her annual physicals. Doesnt matter if I make last minute or scheduled appts, the the front desk is always pleasant and efficient in getting me in/out the door. Convenient hours has meant no rushing to/from work to make appointments. Such a relief. The med staff doesnt miss a beat either. Courteous, caring, professional, never suggesting treatment before its time which I so appreciate. And the follow up -- the best. Always 1-2 phone calls to make sure alls well. Since I generally worry about my dogs health more than mine, this means so much.Thank you, Westside Veterinary Center!!
Dr. Rosenthal, my vet at the Westside Veterinary Center, is always available. Her insights have always been correct and useful with both of my dogs for over 15 years. Additionally, her warmth and support in times of need is invaluable. I couldnt recommend Westside Veterinary Center more highly.
I find that the team at Westside Veterinary center exemplary !!! The care they have given my dog for the past 8 years was superb. In particular I have such a warm spot for the Reception crew and Jaime Napolitano who was such a source of comfort and strength to me when my beloved pet took ill and had to be put down. !!! I simply can not say enough about her.
Top notch care from all the Vets & nurses. They cover every specialty. Appointments easy to make. Have been taking my German Shepherd here for 5 years. Warm welcoming place, receptionists always helpful. They are a bit expensive but this is NYC & the care is excellent.
The best! Ive had 5 dogs over the years and have gone to Westside Veterinary Center since they opened shortly after I got my first two dogs together. Have never been disappointed, have always gotten the best care, even in an emergency. They have a 24 hour hospital where you can call 24/7 and speak with a technician to see how your pet is doing if it is hospitalized. If you have an emergency in the middle of the night and have a question you will get someone on the phone. Dr. Kim Rosenthal has been the veterinarian that my dogs have been seeing for years and she has literally saved several of them through life threatening crises. She has gone out of her way over and above to help me (and them) deal with the situation and did a great job calming me down and reassuring me. I have seen several of the other veterinarians there over the years when Dr. Rosenthal was away or as an emergency over the weekend and they have all been terrific. Saw Dr. Lauren this past Sunday night with one of my dogs who was having a back emergency and in pain. She fixed her right up, took care of her pain so she slept through the night until we could see Dr. Rosenthal on Monday. The staff is also awesome! I highly recommend Westside Veterinary Center without question.
Just the best - my cats have been treated by Dr. Cantor for a number of years; her love of kitties and all animals is evident. Very good at diagnosing and prescribing - couldnt ask for a better vet. The staff is also amazing - Murray, Crystal, everyone on the front desk always on their game!
Dr. Lewis is a very good doctor. She is nurturing and caring . She knows how to calm my Caramel down when she is nervous or scared. This place is professional and takes priorities towards their patients. There are other Vets close to my house, but none of them are like Westside Veterinary Center. Thank you Westside Veterinarian.
Each of the doctors at West Side Vet is very caring and responsive, no matter who you see for your pet. Ive probably seen them all over the years. No complaints with the staff either. Very nice place. And no one wants their pets cared for in the most careful, caring way, than me.
These workers and doctors are very kind. And genuinely care for your pets like they were children. I love how they follow up with any previous visits. This place deserves the 5 star and better. Reviews. Thank you west side veterinary. Thank you for taking care of my lil guy here. Buddy (smile)
I have been taking my dog to Westside Veterinary Center for over 15 years, and in all that time I have been impressed with the excellent care and attitude of the doctors, the veterinary technicians/nurses, and the support staff.Early on, my dog mainly needed routine exams and care, but at this point, she is over 17 years old with multiple problems. Dr. Cantor is her main vet and has been an excellent diagnostician and a concerned and caring presence in our lives. My dog also sees Dr. Yim for acupuncture, which has helped her arthritis immeasurably--and this is clearly not a placebo effect. Because other issues occur on weekends when neither of these two vets are at the clinic, both Dr. Chiverton and Dr. Lewis have also provided excellent care. Are they expensive? Yes. But veterinary medicine has advanced immeasurably in the last several decades, with more ailments being treated and more procedures being undertaken. Medical care, human or animal, costs money. And while veterinary care may be less expensive in other geographic areas, so are other products and services.Overall, I am extremely happy with the level of care and caring Dr. Cantor and everyone else at Westside Veterinary Center have provided. I could not ask for a better group of professionals.
Westside Veterinary Center is great! My 15 year old border collie had cancer and Dr. Chiverton was the kindest, most informative, caring vet I have met (and I have seen a lot). I cannot say enough about her. She took her time talking to me, reviewing records and I never felt rushed. She calmly answered my questions and concerns. My dog lived longer than expected and passed peacefully. I highly recommend Dr. Chiverton and Westside Vet Center, you will not be sorry! We now have a rescue cat and are back with Dr. Chiverton. I will never use another vet.
I have used Westside Vets for many years with my last two dogs.I have been very pleased with attention each of my dogs have receivedand the attention that I receive when reporting on something that maybother me about them during the visit or a phone call. I trust my vetimplicitly as nothing is as important to me as the health and well beingof my dogs.
I live in Bedstuy but I travelled all the way to this vet because it was recommended by two friends who I know care deeply for their companion animals. I was also looking for a good vet that I didnt feel like was ripping me off, which is so hard to find...Unfortunately, the diagnosis is of my cat was terminal cancer and the tumor is inoperable. The surgeon was honest and I appreciated that she told me that operating would be extremely harmful and that the tumor would very likely come back, due to the location. Especially since the previous vet (that I didnt like) was eager to operate and potentially harm my cat and take thousands of my dollars. My vet (Dr. Lewis) seemed to actually care and suggested alternative medicines for my cat. They wont heal her but they can make her comfortable in my final months with her.I will be sure to take my other cats here if we ever have any issues and I highly recommend this vet office, esp Dr. Lewis.
We love Dr. Chiverton, Dr. Rosenthal, & the whole Westside Vet team! They are kind, caring, & very very professional. Their hours are fantastic for working people (evening & weekends) plus the front desk staff are NICE. Most medical offices cant pull that off, but Westside has it down. While no NYC vet is cheap, Westside keeps costs down by not recommending unnecessary tests or procedures. Our older rescue mutt is thriving thanks to their care & we heartily recommend Westside to any pet mom or dad!
The best vets in NYC. They are loving, knowledgeable and go the extra mile to give your pet the best care possible. My dog was facing a major operation and Westside Vet managed to bring him back to health without surgery. Still, the best is the way they treat the pets. Like I would!Ellen S. Upper East Side pet owner
I have been a client of WSV for twenty five years. I can say without question WSV is top notch! They have taken care of four of my dogs their entire lives. It is a comfort to know that there are doctors that are qualified and dedicated in a facility that is open 24 hours . It’s hard to believe, but there are very few facilities in Manhattan that are open 24 hours. Unfortunately, there have been circumstances over the years where emergencies have occurred with my dogs. If I had to have gone to another 24 hour facility I do not think they would have made it and all so would not have received the immediate attention which saved their lives. Having state of the art equipment and a dedicated staff that will go the extra mile could make the difference or life or death. There is no doctor that I have seen as dedicated as Dr. Karen Cantor. I have known Dr. Cantor since she started working at Westside twenty years ago. I have the utmost respect as a professional. She is not only dedicated & through but has an amazing bedside manner. Dr. Cantor has always followed up after any incident and contacted me directly on all lab results for even routine checkups. If you love your pets like I do, Westside Vet without question is where you want them cared for.
I brought my cat there just one occasion because the waiting line for dermatologist at AMC was too long (a few months ahead). I was thrilled by the dedication, professionalism, and thoughtfulness of the doctors. My doctor took time (so did he for the patient before me and that caused almost one hour delay for my scheduled appointment time) for my cat, examining him carefully and explaining to and educating me thoroughly to help me understand the condition. I would definitely recommend Westside Veterinary Center!!!
Went there for the first time a few weeks ago, the front desk staff was very helpful and when I called they recommended a Vet based on my dogs needs. I saw Dr. Brodsky and was very happy with him. He took time with us and set up a plan to help my pup with his skin problems, would definitely recommend!
I wish westside saw people!! From the moment you walk in, you know you are among caring, competent professionals. Everyone seems to be happy to wrk there and really loves animals. Facilities or clean pleasant and mother. The doctors are highly qualified and compassionate. And the technicians are both keep cool and pleasant. Their hours are extremely client friendly. The location is extremely convenient. And you know you’re in the right place. If they saw him at I would love my general practice care to them.
I have been with Dr. Napolitano at Westside Veterinary Center for 20 years and the care and expertise shown to my pets has always been superlative. My cats of 18 years were treated wonderfully and in the end stages of their lives made comfortable and when it came down to saying goodbye, we were treated with dignity and could have all the time in the world as we said goodbye. Our dog was viciously attacked and required very serious surgeries and Dr. Kosovsky proved to be exceptional and explained everything fully prior to any procedure. Our dog today is just fine and loves life. Also, a true sign to me, our dog runs into the office, even after all of her surgeries and trauma without any hesitation. The staff is always pleasant and I cant express enough how grateful I am for Westide Vetrinary Center. My experiece has always been positive.
We cant say enough good things about Westside Veterinary Center. Our vet, Dr. Kim Rosenthal is just the best. And on the rare occasion when we have had an emergency and had to interact with another vet on staff, they too were top notch. They provided great care and made sure Dr. Rosenthal was fully aware of everything that was happening. From the front desk staff to the entire staff of Veterinarians, Westside Veterinary Center is a place you can count on for great care for your pet. We have dealt with them in good times and sad times. Their consistent level of care and compassion is unparalleled. We highly recommend them.
Only went here once but the staff was very nice, welcoming and gracious. I didnt actually see the doctor, just picked up some meds sent from my previous vet. They were very helpful. I saw them patiently take the dogs out to go do their business. However, the PRICES!Initial visit - $90Recurrent visits - $85All vaccinations - $40+So imagine you go in for your annual visit of approximately 5 vaccinations and office visit cost will set you back about $300. Then again, it is the Upper West Side of Manhattan but goodness, the PRICES!
Everyone here is so friendly and welcoming. The vets are down to earth. They communicate clearly. I always feel like my dog has been well taken care of. And they do not make your problems bigger. I get in and out without lengthy wait time and they do take the time that is needed. no rushing.
I have gone to Westside over the course of three dogs’ long and happy lives. Although Stuart Brodsky is my go-to, any of the vets I’ve seen there have exhibited the same operative ethic of caring, patience and thoughtful treatment.Procedures are explained, choices given, and follow up calls by the veterinarian are what I’ve experienced through the years, and I wouldn’t go anywhere else for the medical care of my dog.
The Westside Veterinary Center has been my twin Cocker Spaniels Vets since they were 7 weeks old. They are now 11 yrs. old. The care we have received there has been nothing less then excellent! Everyone who works their we have found to be knowledgeable, compassionate and helpful. We would like to especially recognize Dr. Jamie Napolitano for her expertise as a surgeon and general Veterinarian. She has been so kind, reassuring and given our Lola and JJ superb care!!I highly recommend the Westside Veterinary Center! It was a pleasure to write this review.Virginia and Jens Klein-Birktoft
My JRT was in distress and Westside Vet took us right in. Dr. Rosenthal was so kind and sincerely concerned about my dog. She was very thorough with his exam and did not try to pressure me into any sort of expensive procedures. We ended up needing help later that night and called the emergency number. Sandra remembered my pup from earlier that day and was very helpful. We will stick with this group for sure!
Everyone at Westside Veterinary Center are fantastic! We just started taking our puppy to them and theyve been so helpful in walking us through the process of getting our dog up to date on all her shots and when we brought her in for an emergency visit, they fit us in within an hour and even followed up the next day (which was a Sunday) to make sure our dog was feeling better. Would highly recommend them!

2022-01-19A superb vet practice with excellent staff! . Weve been a fur-family with them for over 12 years and every vet, tech and front desk person has been engaged, warm and caring, patient, helpful and professional. They are clearly not only animal lovers themselves, but they appreciate the profound nature of the human-animal bond and how we humans need their kind attention as well.

2022-03-16Darcy and I love Dr. Lewis! I will be the first to admit that I’m a hypochondriac when it comes to my dog, but Dr. Lewis has a way of speaking to me that is at the same time so sweet, succinct, and informative without being condescending in the slightest. Going to the vet with your aging pet is never fun, but Westside has made it as comfortable as possible. Whenever I freak out over anything, I know I can just pick up the phone and talk to a standby nurse or Dr. Lewis (who will call me back at 9pm just to make sure I get answers). I know Darcy is in good hands and would recommend Westside to anyone. Their prices, while fair for the neighborhood/quality of service, are not cheap, but you can count on them always being transparent.

2021-08-09I love this place. Dr. Friedman is amazing and my dog Chase really loves her. Her and all of the staff are gentle and so attentive and make us feel super welcomed. I’ve been to plenty of vets and have never been treated so well like we are here. So thankful to have started coming here.

2022-06-12The vets at this practice are kind, knowledgeable, and great to work with. We’ve seen a few different vets with our French bulldog and they have been patient and warm with both the animal and the humans in the room! While the vets are top notch (and really…that’s what you’re here for) prepare yourself for a frustrating waiting room experience. It could be that the team is simply understaffed right now, which is understandable. But the last three visits, after a smooth and easy 20 min appointment with the vet I’ve been stuck waiting for another 30 min or longer just to have prescriptions filled and pay my bill.

2022-04-05Westside Vet Center is amazing. Dr. Friedman is very down-to-earth and takes great care of my puppy. The staff seem to love working there and are very considerate and helpful. I’ve never had a problem getting in contact with them or making an appointment. I appreciate them a lot.

2022-04-09The dreaded emergency visit to the vet is enough to set most humans on edge for multiple reasons. Im not sure if the design of the office was conceptualized for what Im about to point out but the openness helped alleviate stress. We were seated parallel to the window and could see through towards the back.At another vets office we waited in the front while they took our cat to the back. At this location we accompanied our cat to the examine room. She was escorted upstairs for bloodwork while we briefly waited in the examine room. This process felt inclusive and natural. The vet was compassionate and discussed cost along with procedures. We didnt feel vilified for considering budgetary choices. The staff is respectful and friendly. On one visit to pick up medication I gave my cats name and one of the nurses gleefully repeated the name because she remembered my cat. It felt like home in that moment.

2022-02-17Because of their negligence my dog is dead. So. Yeah. Don’t go here. They will overcharge you and undervalue your patronage. The vets are detached and impersonal. They half-examined my dog. Sent us on our way. Took her to another vet who asked if nobody thought to check her liver. I told her Westside didn’t mention anything. Emergency visits, more tests, it was too late. She died. Don’t know who they’re paying to write positive reviews but don’t believe the hype. Went to them before then and they were all about the dollars. I thought “we’ll, you get what you pay for” and they’re charging a lot so hopefully they’ll take care of my baby — FALSE. If you love your pet, don’t go here. There are other reviews on Yelp who attest to their lack of care and misdiagnoses.

2022-06-02My pup Gooses’ has gone here to see the Doc several times and each time the visit is timely and thorough. We’ve visited several vets and I must say our experience here feels TOP NOTCH each time. Also a bonus that they’re really nice when accommodating our schedule. Thank you Doctor Rutherford and the whole team!

2022-06-03Do not take your pet to this vet! I took my dog here for about 2.5 years because it was close and they have great hours for owners who work full time but it is not worth it. There are much better vets in the area. The last straw was recently when my dog had a cough and the vet kept him on the same antibiotic for two weeks before telling us to come in for a chest x-ray. I brought him in at 7pm for them to tell me that the x-ray machine was actually broken since that morning and they didn’t know when it would be fixed. When I asked why they didn’t call me so I could reschedule, the vet said the “front doesn’t always know what’s going on in the back.” She then said she wouldn’t charge me but after having a 10 minute conversation said she was going to give me a “low charge” of $30 because we “had a conversation.” I thought a short conversation was the least she could do for wasting my time bringing my dog all the way there after work just to find out the machine was broken. Needless to say this was extremely unprofessional and I never went back. Our new vet took a chest x-ray the next day, switched the antibiotic immediately (as the first one obviously wasn’t working) and then suggested zyrtec for allergies when the new antibiotic didn’t work after just a few days. This did the trick. Westside Vet was going to give him an opioid cough suppressant.Previous terrible experiences include having to leave my dog there over night, going home to get his dinner to bring back to the vet, to find out when I picked him up the next day that they forgot to feed him dinner. They could not offer an explanation. A $1000 bill and they could not even remember to feed my dog.Another experience includes calling them when my dog had extremely bloody diarrhea. The clerk at the front desk told me they had no appointments for 3 days, but to feed chicken and rice in the meantime. Chicken and rice is not proper medical advice for a dog whose stool only consisted of liquid blood. He needed medication and fluids right away. The only reason we didn’t switch vets sooner is because my dog barely goes and they were fine for routine check ups and shots. The lack of caring, terrible administration, and unprofessional veterinary service at this place is unacceptable and I’m shocked they have as many good reviews as they do. They do have one vet who I liked, but it was not worth all of the negatives of this place. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere.
