Came up to Westwind Orchard for an impromptu evening out with my partner, her best friends, and their significant others, so I really had no expectations as we strolled into to the outdoor seating area. From the start, it was clear that the service would be excellent since all the staff were friendly, attentive, and accommodating.Follow that up with some tasty ciders (the Regina, Rosato, and Classico were all great), delicious pizza and pasta dishes (spotlight on the Carciofi & Capocollo pizza and the spaghetti carbonara), and paired with some lovely weather and salsa dancing, we ended up having a very nice evening. Thanks, Westwind Orchard!
Corona experience:Call ahead and pay over the phone. You park in the lot and pick up your food on a table under an awning. The staff bring the food wearing gloves, everything seemed clean and lacked direct interaction. The pizzas were delicious! Four cheese is my favorite. The tiramisu was delicious, so creamy and not painfully sweet.
Such a nice place to stop for a delicious lunch with beautiful views and wide open spaces. Came here in October and it was just gorgeous, early fall with a chill in the air but still sunny enough to sit outside. Highly recommend the prosciutto pizza and cheesy riceballs, both were excellent.
These guys are smashing the social distancing outdoor dining vibes! The outdoor area was already beautiful and has been tweaked to cater safely for outdoor dining and cider enjoyment. Pick up some fresh eggs and heirloom tomatoes from their cute little store while you’re there too!Bravo to the lovely owners and staff 🙌🏽
Great selection of pizzas and food with good quality beer/wine options.Plenty of outdoor space with tables far apart so easy to distance.Pets allowed and kid friendly. They can play on the half basketball court or run around in the grass. In my opinion the food is better then Arrowwood as the selection is wider, though Arrowwood has a wider alcohol selection
Absolutely loved Westwind Orchard! We are in town for a week and came 3 times its so good! The staff is very friendly and helpful, the ciders are very good with a surprising amount of variety to choose from and the food.... Oh the food is amazing! Weve had the pizza, soup, pasta, and that half chicken... SO GOOD! Highly recommend stopping by and our dog loved the chicken as well :)
Amazing pizza and Italian favorites. Everything is so fresh! The pizza was the best in such a long time Better pizza than what I get n brooklyn evan Robertas! The cider was dry and effervescent. They even had a salami and sausage vending machine! The atmosphere is so relaxing with fire pits, the lighting and friendly staff.
Love this place. The food is excellent because it’s owned by a man from Italy. Some of the best food in the area. The location is very relaxing. We cycle here often and make it a destination for our outing. The coffee is great too. Great for a long lunch or coffee. They have some games to play on the lawn too. They also have live music sometimes on the lawn. Love it here.
My girlfriend and I had such a wonderful time here! We ate outside by one of the many firepit cauldrons and as soon as we sat down, the staff was nice enough to add more firewood to it without us even asking them to! We ordered and paid inside and they brought the food out to us. I got the Maxx Cider at the recommendation of the person who took our order and it was quite refreshing! We got the Margherita Pizza and it was flavorful and delicious! The crust was thin and crunchy and perfectly cooked in the fancy pizza oven they have at the orchard. The burrata was superb. Very cute orchard with very delicious foods and brews. It was pleasant to sit outside and the fire kept us warm even when surrounded by fresh snow! Im not a local but Im certainly looking forward to experiencing the orchard during other seasons too! We were here during the Covid-19 pandemic and they adhered to all the CDC safety guidelines.
Beautiful cider distillery. Great indoor and outdoor spaces, great selection of dry ciders, nice food menu, cute country store on site. Great place for an event, to hang outside in the summer, or to huddle up inside in the fall. Coffee and hot drinks too. Highly recommend!
This place is simply amazing. The food is unbelievably good (try the ortolana pizza topped with seasonal veggies and the fried artichokes), the craft ciders are dry and delicious, and the ambiance is incredible. We take all our friends here to dine al fresco under canopies of apple trees, recline on picnic blankets, and visit the chic general store. The owner Fabio has created a true oasis in the Hudson River Valley. When you step onto the grounds, you feel welcomed and taken care of. Its definitely my happy place.
Lovely location, landscaping and styling. It’s unfortunate that the wait staff were incredibly rude. After paying for $70 of food and drinks, and with my card still in the machine, I realized I had forgotten to add an order of olives. I was abruptly told there was a $10 minimum charge even though I had just purchased. I reluctantly added extra food to make the order up to $10.We ordered our mains in a separate order. This time our waiter arrived to the numbered table with a child’s portion of food and asked if we were still waiting for the “pesto” I said no, as we had received no other food and and it looked too small to be a main.Everyone’s pasta arrived sporadically, and reported the Calamari pasta was undercooked and tasted like a basic jar sauce. The ravioli was over salted. After 10 minutes my meal had not arrived and I asked to check on its status. There was no apologies, and I was blamed for turning the food away!!! The $18 pesto arrived - on the same baby plate. I can’t even say this is NYC prices. It is just robbery.Come for a wine or cider but skip the food.
This place is great - one of our favorite cider producers in the area. Beautiful grounds and facilities. The surrounding landscape has a magical feel that I cannot seem to describe. Perhaps not matching their marketing approach, however, I would love it if they offered cider in cans at a lower price point. I always have a hard time justifying paying more for bottled cider.
Like other have said before me, its a nice venue but overpriced. Great descriptions but it doesnt match. I didnt see the usual happy faces that I usually see at a place like this.Im used the hardciders that are more on the sweet side & these dry. So I cannot say its good or bad. There is a nice variety to choose from.As for the food, its OK. Price is high for both the portion & the dish. Ex. $18 for cavetelli pasta with tomato & stringbeans in a pesto sauce. Portion was about the size of a toddlers plate. Pasta was perfectly cooked. Pesto sauce a nice constancy & tasty. The vegetables were bits of tomato & slivers of stringbean. All together it wouldnt total up to 1 full size stringbean or 1 slice of tomato. For dessert we had the panna cotta with roasted pears & maple syrup. Panna cotta was perfect but the pears were not roasted, not even poached with several drops of maple syrup. Could have left both off since it didnt add to the flavor or presentation & saved the expense.Since Im more familiar with orchards where you pick your own apples, I was disappointed you couldnt here. They had some that you can buy but not a large variety & costly. Others seems to agree based on what I heard.Service was nice. Since theyre organic, I like that theyre using compostible plates & utensils. Plenty of seating with or without cover. There was no life music but the piped in music was very nice. The positives arent enough reason for us to go back.
The owner has added on so many buildings since my last visit! Looks like an ill placed factory unit .. weird… not sure what he’s trying to accomplish but it definitely ruined the atmosphere and open feel. Yuck… boxed in feeling now and very crowded…. And Very expensive, even for NYC peeps… small servings… NO apple picking . Won’t be coming back .
My family loves this place, and we swing by when we’re in the area. It’s a good place to naturally socially distance - the tables have always been set up spaced apart in a field. The cider is delicious, as is the pizza and pasta. I had a mushroom pizza that was so good, and my kids loved the cacio e Pepe. We also picked some raspberries, which were really tasty. The staff was great, and everything felt clean and safe - everyone was wearing masks and/or socially distanced.
Amazing place with many Apple trees around. You can just order and seat outside. If there is no table available, just sit on the grass.Their pizzas are amazing! We tried three different types of pizzas, each of them has perfect toppings and crust! Not the typical toppings though, more of artisanal styles.
It doesn’t matter how good the food is ,if as soon as you walk through the door you are greeted by a pretentious and unfriendly guy with a pony tail. I honestly thought it was a joke and looked at my wife in disbelief as to how he treated us. After we ordered I went to the bathroom and there was no soap in there. What a shock. Like Anthony Bourdain said, Don’t ever trust a restaurant that doesn’t have soap in the bathroom.
Cool spot: gets 5 star for setting, though the picnic benches are unstable, be careful. Drinks: ciders ranged from fine to not good. We ended up w bottle of rose instead. Food: loved the pizzas, well executed thin crust. Tasty. Service is good: really helpful staff but somewhat inexperienced- I had to go get more utensils and plates for our group. But friendly for sure. As reviews say: it can get a tad expensive, city prices in the country. But I think it was worth it for the effort put in to consider the location, parking, menu, etc. Well worth it for the experience my friends and I had here. I would definitely come back.
Beautiful setting and great cider and pizza. Before I went my friends joked that they had Brooklyn prices for an upstate orchard and this is the main complaint I’ve heard and agree with. The service ranges from extremely friendly and helpful to deferential hipster aloofness depending on who is serving you. Definitely worth checking out but just frustrating because it has the potential to be so good!
Beautiful property, great concept, food probably good (if we ever received it), questionable management. Our pizza was forgotten and then majorly delayed for another hour. We asked for two glasses of cider while we waited (after spending close to $300, in sweltering 100 degree weather) expecting they would be comp’d (#normalcustomerservice) and they became defensive and argumentative. If i visit again, i hope to have a better experience.
Really a phenomenal place. An absolutely amazing space, its super relaxing and serves solid wood fired pizza. But the true star is the cider. They serve real cider not the over sweetened swill like angry orchard or most other places. This is a true cidery serving their own as well as like minded ciders. Some of the best cider youll find in NY and probably anywhere.
We had the best time! We took a group of 30+ friends and family to Westwind as part of a little romp around the area the day before our wedding in Ellenville, NY. We had stopped into Westwind spontaneously in a previous visit to the area and had fallen in love with the independent mission, the place and, of course, the delicious cider. We wanted our guests -local and from out of town - to know the beauty of what is happening in the Hudson Valley on small farms and in craft batches. And Westwind is a perfect example. We are so grateful to the team for opening early and giving such a gracious tour. Our guests were so wow-ed and just loved the place and the experience. Thank you so much!
Since we first visited Westwind early this summer we have made it a regular part of our weekends up here. This is ABSOLUTELY my first recommendation to our Airbnb guests, and it is the place I prefer to go when we are with family. The food is SO fresh, SO carefully made—meaning with *care*— and we love surprising our friends and family with a stop here. The menu changes often, proving that they’re using the freshest ingredients, the combination of flavors on their pizzas (which are so ridiculously easy to eat we need to order several—today we got THREE) change and delight us. The heirloom tomato and fresh mozzarella salad was unreal today. And there are oysters! I’m telling you, this very special place is delightful. Great music, a sweet little shop on the premises, campfires, blankets, picnic tables, LOTS of room, games, wagons, a basketball court...it’s got something for everyone. And that’s just the outside area (which is huge and which I learned today you can wander around past the central hangout area). The inside is sparsely but thoughtfully decorated, cool and airy (and air conditioned on those very hot summer days). Dogs welcome, too! Such a great location and such reliably delicious food.No point in comparing Westwind to Arrowood, so the reviews that compare the two aren’t fair to either business. We love both spots for different reasons.Much love! And thanks for the great hospitality! We will always return. ❤️❤️
Great place to hang out and relax with a great selection of ciders (in house and others) and a nice selection of New York liquors. Super cute outdoor space and great tasting room that opened up this year. Bosco the house dog is a great plus! Great for familys and their pets!
We love this place! Great for our daughter to run around and meet and play with other kids. We can take our dog off leash and he plays with the other dogs. All while we layback and chill with an ice cold beer and gormet pizza. A hip and funky vibe. You run into movie stars that are just being casual and chill as well as locals who’ve been here forever. Love it.
This is a review of the restaurant. The place as a whole is nice and cosy but the food and service we got was terrible. After waiting for our food for 50 minutes we asked the waiter how long the queue in the kitchen was. She checked with the kitchen and said it would be 15 more minutes. After two minutes one of our dishes came and it was the worst pasta dish I ever had. A pasta dish with butter and sage should be rich in taste, this was totally blend. Could not even taste the butter, and the sage was fresh, and not a part of the sauce! After a few more minutes my friend got a simple carbonara. The bacon of that was just the fatty part, and cooked for like one minute. Never been to a place where I could not finish my food. Very dissapointing!
First off, I love this place. The whole vibe is so pleasant and I love what they are doing on the farm. I also have had some amazing pizzas here. I love my food, especially my Italian food. Westwinds food is all delicious, but I have to say, while everything is delicious, the portions are so small. I eat a plate of pasta there and have to go home and cook. The pasta is about the size of an appetizer portion at my local NYC fancy place. Last week I had a special of stuffed squash blossoms. $12 for three tiny blossoms, with a skinny piece of mozz and a whisper of anchovy. I make these myself and they are bursting when I make them. What really got me was that the serving is three blossoms. For 12 dollars. So, 4 dollars a blossom. People mostly share plates here so really, is it so cost prohibitive to do at least do four to a serving, so a couple sharing could at least get two each? This seemed a little abusive. I fully support the farm to table concept. know how hard Fabio and family have worked and understand it costs more and am OK with that. But I think this goes too far. I see all the Brooklyn people not blinking an eye, and I guess Fabio, that means you can get away with it. But Im a city person too, who has been part time here for 20 years enough to feel local, and been supporting local farms this whole time. So I kind of feel its not OK. The soul of the Italian table is making sure people are well fed, and not leaving hungry. Love you guys.**** Edit: I just read Fabios reply and it is probably the most Roman thing I have ever read, LOL. Absolutely right, the pasta servings are exactly what one would get in Rome as a first course. This plate is not meant to be an entire dinner, and it is an authentic Roman experience. We are lucky to get to taste it. Guess I am just too used to the American experience. So lets have a plate of porchetta afterwards! Added a star for authenticity. And stlll love you guys!
I went for the Thursday night tapas and doubt anyone in the area is going to make that a regularly scheduled outing, especially when the much more down-to-earth Arrowood Farm is right down the road. The Suarez Family IPA I had was dreamy, but $18 is a bit pricey for an eight-ounce beer and hummus with bread. I drew the line, however, at the $9.72 meringue. Granted, it was quite a large and good-looking cookie, and the server noted, Its very good -- they put raspberries and apricots on it. But there should be an option for a plain meringue, and I dont care if they put a gold tiara on it -- $9.72 is too much for a cookie. Addendum to respond to owners comments: The bill was $18 with tip. If youre sourcing ingredients for the meringues from your farm, I would think theyd be cheaper since youre not paying for the cost of transporting them. In any case, I still think the price is unreasonable. Have you sold many of those meringues?
Came here on a trip to Stonehills Farmhouse down the road, the owners recommend we check out Westwind and Arrowood during our stay. We were able to walk here and it was so great! We will definitely be back, between Stonehills, Westwind and Arrowood ... what a special little corner of the universe. Jealous of the people who get to live here full time.
The commenters below dont know what they are talking about. This area was, in fact, hit with a terrible hard frost in April 2016. I know, I was here. Most orchards lost 75-100% of their crop. This orchard was particularly unlucky and lost all theirs. Its awful, and as a human being, you should really feel for these poor farmers rather than being mad at them for refusing to spend a fortune reprinting their signs to accommodate a once-in-50-years-catastrophe.This place is fabulous. It is beautiful, it has views, it has top-notch cider, and the pizzas are excellent. Non-apple crops have been great, and its well laid out and very easy to pick raspberries, blackberries, etc. Theres great music, fooosball basketball, beautiful metal wagons to drag your children and pumpkins around in. At night in the fall, they light massive hanging cauldrons full of firewood, which is beautiful and warm.Look. Are you from (or priced out of) Williamsburg and looking for a place to do upstate fall things? You should head here. From a culinary and aesthetic perspective, this joint is hitting on all cylinders. It is yummy. It is pretty. It is fun. It is delicious. It is relaxed and beautiful. And theres a distillery just down the road.
I would head to real apple orchard like Whitmans Farm not far away for a real upstate Apple Farm experience. It took forever to get our Pizza. I would also have to completely agree on the deferential hipster aloofness not to mention the attitude. Come on really???? One of the owners (apparently) walking around in black sunglasses on a cloudy day in the restaurant was beyond pretentious. No people of color in sight here. Had more fun at Arrowwod ... more down to earth and real. Not into the snooty bourgeoisie attitude and paying NYC prices was really ridiculous and too much.
No apples....but all signs do not mention is fact.....while speaking to the store clerk, she sstopped speaking to us, and took the white lady behinds us, I felt this action was rude. Finish with us first before taking the person behind us.....never recommend the place
If you have found this place then it means you are one of the lucky ones. We have been here for about 7 times in a year.It is a great place for families to hangout at. Go there, have their delicious food, enjoy the music, drink the ciders, chill by the fireplace, dance, play… and bring that relaxed and rejuvenated mind and soul back with you home! There is no other place like this!

2022-05-09What a lovely place!! Came here for lunch after our hike. We had two bottles of cider which were incredible! The arancini balls were impeccable, not too rich but very flavorful. And the tiramisu was astounding. Definitely worth the two-hour drive from the city.

2021-10-04My friend and I was recommended to go here and boy we made the right decision to come here. The vibe is so nice, relaxing and service is friendly. But, the food is oh my goodness! The menu is read the same way as how the food tastes! I am still dreaming about it! (Also, for the reviews on here that say this place is “expensive” it isn’t! You actually get what you pay for! I’m from NYC and a place such as this with its natural vining atmosphere and homemade pizza and articulated dishes - I would of think it would be a lot more money.) This place is every worth of your time and money!

2022-03-20Came here for a late lunch/sunset dinner because Stonehills- our bed and breakfast nearby- had a trail from their property that you could walk to without drinking and driving home. Their pizza and pasta were incredible and we enjoyed the tasting sampler of cider in a lovely setting

2022-05-14The team here have developed quite a drinking destination. On the same road as a brewery and distillery, youve got the total package wrapped up by Westwind offering cider, wine, cocktails and some of the finest pizza around. While Im not the *hugest* fan of pre determined flights as they offer, you can tell these were crafted to highlight how each flavor pairs and melds into the next. And with the orchard just across the street, its an absolute gorgeous place during bloom.

2021-09-19Wonderful outdoor spot to have drinks with friends while eating some good pizza and listening to live music. Had a great time. We came on a Saturday night and had to wait a bit in line to order food and drinks but was worth the wait.

2021-05-19What a great place! So glad our friends took us here for lunch. The ambiance is fantastic, with picnic tables and bonfire pits among the apple orchards. Bring a blanket in case all the tables are full. There is lots of room for lawn seating. The food, beer, and cider were delicious. Really enjoyed the wood fired pizzas and rice balls. Will definitely come back next time I’m in this part of the Hudson Valley.

2022-04-11This place is a hidden gem. Thin crust pizza is to die for and the cider is pretty good. Plenty of space and definitely more fun in warm weather. We were there in the cold and just ate indoors and brought our own cards to play. A little pricey but worth it.

2021-09-11Great atmosphere for outdoor dining. It’s a little bit pricey though. It was perfect lunch on a sunny and breezy day.

2022-01-24We really love this place and have been 3 times now. The pizza is SO good and I love how thin it is so you dont get as full and can try multiple kinds. We had margarita and one with spicy cappicola last time and both were great. Love that they have lots of outdoor seating with fire pits and heaters because we usually have our dog. We often go here and Arrowood, the brewery 1 min down the road.

2021-12-24Nice place. But very windy desert. Too cold to drink beer on an air because dogs were with us
