Whole Foods Market in other cities:
Whole Food Market is THE best supermarket ever, with good fresh ingredients. I came here today for lunch and Ive explored the whole buffet. I live the fact that I can customize a salad but also eat warm dishes from many kinds. the buffet is clean and arranged nicely and the team is always working hard to keep it like that. I wish my sister could be here with me
I asked for cold cuts and the preparation was sloppy and came out of the wrapping when handed to me. The Mexican who works there is not too friendly either. When I asked him to fix it he became obnoxious and it made me uncomfortable. I just dont feel comfortable buying food w/ horrible presentation. Especially NOT when everything Is so expensive there. The job should be done correct. Show some respect please for my food.Update: one workers wiped sweat off his head, and didnt change his gloves. Another worker with a long beard was serving hot food with no hair or beard net. Seen that and ran for the hills. 1 star. Not a classy place but items are expensive. I dont get it. Must be the location.Dont even let me get started on that rude old woman at the pizza station. All these workers seem unwilling to help.
If you find this review helpful, please click! Can’t say I’m on board with the hype. As someone who cooks often, and equally enjoys high end restaurants, I was very underwhelmed. The produce was generally good and only moderately overpriced. Nothing like the quality of a fresh market though. Some stuff was just stupid: like individually stickering every. Single. Potato. What the heck guys? Or the frozen whole cow hearts? Yikes. The price for most of the meat, fish, and chicken was ... ridiculous even for NYC standards and frankly most of it didn’t look that great. The sushi was more expensive than delivery from a nice restaurant.Oh, and ‘vegetarian’ is apparently a flavor now. 🙄
High praises!! No, not about the food variety and quality. Thats widely known. I am talking about customer service. As i was checking out the items in the isles, I left my briefcase somewhere. I noticed that it was missing while I was checking out. I approached a young lady that worked at the store panic stricken. She walked me down several isles in search of my suitcase. Nothing. She then turned to me and said: Lets walk over to customer service and see if its there. Moments later the customer service representative whipped out my briefcase with a friendly smile. I smiled and let out a huge sigh of relief. Thank you Whole foods!!!
It was my first time in this Whole Foods location, and shall not be my last. Someone I have known for a little more than a decade felt he could safely resume his in-person board game group, and we met there. Every staff person was very professional, friendly and helpful, especially as I AM not accustomed to supermarkets having more than one floor, let alone a lounge area for customers. The two slices of pizza I purchased were super delicious and so was the blackberry flavored seltzer and the raspberry crumble. Everything else I saw looked delicious, and some items made me drool. I look forward to returning to this location, especially since, prior to Wednesday, September 29, 2021, the last time I had been to the Bowery section of Manhattan had been more almost two decades ago. Since my first time at this Whole Foods, no one is at the entrances checking vaccination cards, although I always have mine ready, just in case. Also, I do not recall if face coverings that cover the nose and mouth are still required, but you might want to have them ready, just in case.
Never apply to his Whole Foods or shop here, guy who hires people is a weirdo and recently acted very inappropriately to one of my friends in a very disgusting way, I don’t know who this manager or employee was but he was male. Please keep people safe from that predator
Well Ive been going here for around 10 years but that was when I worked in Soho. I would get fresh breakfast in the morning and super scrumptious supper in the evening!. Since I no longer work on Prince st. I frequent various locations in Brooklyn. Anyways, the floor staff here (Houston location) arent very friendly nor knowledgeable but perhaps I spoke to the wrong ones. I just so happen to be in the area for a quick stop so I decided to buy some blueberry granola and agave, Oat-li.
The renovation definitely helps the flow of shopping now. It never seems to get too crowded in here, especially with the two checkout sections. They have a self service bread section. Im not really fond of it. Anyone can touch any bread and that doesnt seem to sanitary.
An unbelievable dark skin dude employee working at self checkout ignored me on purpose today (4/16, 8:30pm). Like twice within a short interaction, he didn’t want to come over to help me. If you can check the video footage, I needed help to scan the roasted chicken. He somehow finally came over to help me, probably remembered there was camera at store.
Fresh produce, salad bar and hot bar great! They have sushi, however it looks and taste like its been frozen with the nerve to cost its an arm and leg. The rest of the store is overrated. This store is ridiculously over priced. Understood thought its in Manhattan everything is ridiculously over priced lol
Horrible . They wanted to shove a mask in my shopping cart when I had mentioned to them the reason why I couldnt wear a mask at eight months pregnant . They treated me horrible . That is not a way to approach a customer . The woman on the left said she was a manager and the lady in the left was the cashier. They were very rude, they had no manners .
Stockers are very helpful, in my opinion more polite and helpful than the rest of the staff. Cupcakes at this bakery are not good, cant speak for the rest of the bakery. A darker complected man behind the bakery counter acted as though he was too busy to hand me 2 cupcakes and literally busied himself filing paperwork for 10 minutes as I stood there and waited. Baked cookies in the clear plastic boxes are still good. Vegetable section is so small theyre out of raw veggies most of the time. Tiny with bad selection compared to Whole Foods across from Bryant Park. They do have an Amazon returns drop off upstairs, so points there. Ill be taking the trek up to Bryant Park Whole Foods from now on.
To be honest, I was really excited to shop at whole foods for the first time and I am kind of let down. They had a sale on whole lemon pepper chicken and I bought one to make for dinner. You would think that they would let you know you were only getting half a chicken.....I have no complaints about the store as a whole but Im highly upset that they didnt advertise properly.
Clean, friendly staff, spacious. The only con I think of is when items are sold out itll take weeks for the item to return to shelves. Example: Name brand If you care coffee filters #4 were on sale early last month and sold out. The filters were restocked this week. My best suggestion would be to buy at least 2 of everything....just incase you need to it and they dont have it....at least youll have an extra one at home.
I have been shopping there, for about twenty years now,I started WITH the Columbus circle store, I have to say that this is the best supermarket hands down. You ask them to get you certain items ,AND THEY DO .I JUST SIMPLY LOVE THAT ENTIRE STORE ,ALMOST ALL THEIR LOCATIONS ... Most of the staff are really awesome, they should spray for bugs,/ roaches but overall , : THE BEST SUPERMARKET EVER, . SO FAR.HANDS DOWN.
Best place for fresh produce. A little crowded if you go right at opening with employees still stocking so large stroller not ideal ( ask me how I know) but otherwise great. Employees arent the most helpful and friendly ( like trader joes is) but I aint buying employees so 🤷
I love this location. It’s nice and clean. Good service and an excellent seafood / meat department. Prices are better than they have ever been for meat, fruits and vegetables. I will always shop here for those items because they clearly state how everything is sourced. It’s nice to be able to know where your purchases are sourced and the rating systems they provide you with.I’m writing a bit of an edit because of another wonderful experience. Your meat department is incredible. Not only can you find a great variety of anything you want, but the men behind the counter are able to recommend specific cuts of meat, and also the best cut to buy for whatever you’re cooking. And in my case, I am making bbq pulled pork that is turning out wonderfully. Thank you!
Fantastic customer service from Geoffrey (sp?) in the meat department. Was shopping early in the morning, some of the products were still being made and not in the counter area. I wanted to order meatballs and asked if there were any available. Geoffrey said it would be about 15 minutes. I did the rest of my shopping and returned. Even though the meatballs were not all complete and stocked in the front, Geoffrey asked how much I wanted and made the order on the spot. Friendly and professional service.
A lot of choice and good food. Help from the staff was great and their waiting line system is unique and easy to understand.Sadly no wine but you can get this around the corner.Note: Amazon prime members who have the app and are logged in can get additional discounts!
This is a very large, brand new Whole Foods. They have all the usual suspects to buy in their well-organized aisles. They also have a variety of take-out food options, including Chego, and there is a nice selection of wines and beer. The best thing about this location is their signature bar and restaurant. Its a great little respite enclosed within the store with happy hour drink specials and daily food specials. Its worthy of a trip in and of itself.
As far as Whole Foods goes, this location is ok. Its always extremely busy, but the cashiers and deli people are extremely helpful. Of the last five times Ive been, there were a number of employees wandering the store (maybe supposed to be stocking?) who have very inappropriate conversations for being in store garb and throw food items at one another as a game. To me, thats not so cool.
I love all the whole foods locations. Most of them except the one on 23rd street has seating. Ive been known to hold meetings there. Theres a great selection of brands and its always great to discover and try a new product. Other than the long organized lines, I get excited every time Im near a wholefoods. I love their 2 for $6 meals. I remember when they were $5. They must be pretty popular.
Stopped at customer service, because I was looking for 1 hard to find item. Showed the service representative the item on my phone; when she didnt recognize it, she go on the PA and asked for a worker from grocery to come to me. As a black woman, Im not used to that service. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Wish I had gotten your name.
Whole Foods Market was always famous for great quality organic food and crazy high prices but now after Amazon bought Whole Foods I really see some changes and it’s good. Prices are going down but the food quality is still amazing. Besides food I always shop for non toxic household supplies, healthy food for animals and great alcohol :):) also it’s amazing that there is a delivery available right in the store because where I’m coming from (LA) there’s no delivery available and I was surprised in New York I don’t have to carry it all by myself I can just pay 10 bucks and it’ll be delivered same day right to my door! just amazing !!!
It is reallt great. It had everything. You will ever want. You will most definitely be very surprised with the amount of stuff that they have like this is so ridiculous they have everything from a nut bar to a whole array of Organics very nice cheese selections a very good Bakery homemade pizza right there on the spot I have around Terry on the second floor very quick cash register system it is just a great overall the place to do all the shopping I want I mean all I do mean all
Whole Foods is a good place to shop for food. The food is little expensive if it is not on sale. The seating area is clean and spacious. You can bring your laptop and tablets to charge and browse through the Web with free WiFi. The restroom is clean. The staff are friendly and kind. Whole foods are kid friendly too. The elevator are working properly. Whole foods can be crowded at times. The best time is in the morning. Check out the coffee shop downstairs. The coffee shop have extra seats available.
Very courteous, clean and for the most part efficient. Amazon made the right move and their reputation is clearly reflected here. They still have to work out the kinks with relation to time spent waiting on line during rush/busy periods. Other than that its very reasonably priced and perfectly located.
I live just right next to the store, i lovedddd and enjoyed shopping there. However, they have turn this store into a circus. Its always sooo busy, messy and empty. They go days without some necessary items. All thanks to their Amazon prime shoppers. And let me not forget to mention how rude and pushy they are. And dont let me get started about those messengers/delivery guys outside, the side walk. Pleaseeee do something about this, is not ok.
If yousve visited a Whole Foods market BEFORE Amazon bought them, you wont see any big changes NOW. The prices are still pretty much on the high end although they have improved a bit and the selection, always interesting, has gotten even more so. Add the fine delivery service that comes along with Amazon & youve got the whole picture of the new Whole Foods Market.
This Whole Food stands out as it has an entire section dedicated to beer - and what a selection it IS. They offer a wide variety of bottled and canned beers to go, as well as Growler fillings from the tap. The staff is nice and knowledgeable. I doubt you could go here, and without trying, pick out a bad beer. Definitely a must visit, especially if youre picking something up for a party
This location is very nice and feels modern with the cafe upstairs. However its a bit hard to navigate. It has a pretty good selection of everything like other locations in the city. I love the dedicate bakery section, it looks very nice and seems to have more variety.
I am probably in this whole foods 2 if not 3 times a week. The floor staff and cashiers are amazing and helpful. What I appreciate most about them are their positive attitudes. The only thing I find tricky sometimes is getting someones attention at the meat counter. But even then they are nice and helpful.
The whole foods market is what you would expect from other supermarkets of the same brand. The food quality was good, as well as the facilities for use. The staff friendly, and the place was buzzing with a vibrant energy only reserved for the trademark staples of excellent shopping locations. Great place.
I love Whole Foods. I am a vegan and I love organic foods. Whole foods is the best when I am craving some cruelty-free baked goods or ice cream. They also have some prepared foods like sushi, which is pretty good. I honestly wish they had more and I wish it wasnt so pricey. If they had a wider vegan selection, I would be in here a lot more often. But its still pretty cool - right next to Central Park, so its great to grab some food and head over for a picnic.
I have a broken foot and using crutches, and whenever I went here a security guard was always following and profiling me from the entrance throughout the store. I felt so uncomfortable like I was a criminal having to watch over my shoulders in anticipation of being targeted by this person. I was on crutches and instead of assisting with my cart or basket for.my experience to be pleasant I was followed. I stopped shopping here. Not the way I need to be treated when shopping to support the business.
Havent done any real shopping here have picked up a few bits which was fine. My reason for the 5 star review was I had to make a vegan stout cupcake for work and was having a hard time finding vegan stout and the guy who was working in the beer section was so helpful.
It seems to be the m/o of this branch to keep customers on their toes about prices and ringing them up. The third time yesterday the cashiers did not ring up the prime prices although my reference phone number was entered at the beginning of check-out. Moreover, organic veggies that cost more than conventional ones were sold from a bin with the wrong price. The system needs to be improved and the customer service along with it. When I complained about it, I was told “it is no big deal.” I disagree and disapprove.
Great food. Spacious seating area. Toilets fairly usable, ie not normally a line. Long line for the checkout though. In England, upmarket supermarkets such as Marks and Spencer have self service, so theres basically no line. Seems a throw back to the twentieth century to have to stand in line for twenty minutes...
Great fruit and beer selections :)I tried to compare prices and, based on a few anecdotal points, have found both to be cheaper and higher quality at whole foods than at smaller local stores.Other quick tips:Try to avoid coming here at peak times, especially on weekend mornings, as it can be a madhouse with hugely long lines. The beers are good, but the selection can be a bit thin at times compared to the whole foods in east village. Go there if youre looking for some specific (I suggest the Jolly Pumpkin seasonal beers!)
Massive, convenient location, beautiful layout and design, full of delicious nourishment. When I was visiting last Friday there were no eat-in bowls left. Peter went and personally hand washed a bunch for me and a few other hungry folks. My hero 😍 Awesome eating area upstairs. Could have hung out all afternoon
Your friendly neighborhood market has some good choices. Prices are cheaper for some items, but expensive for others. Depending on what you’re here for, you may get your money’s worth. Check-out lines were quite long though. Think I spent about 10-15 minutes waiting in the express line at around 8:45 pm on a Sunday night.
Great store for organic food lovers. They have a wide variety of produce and other groceries and their meet / seafood section is amazing. While making a seafood palella, I was able to get all the fresh ingredients of the top quality (at a top price, of course). The location is also perfect - right near many subways. They do have a beer section but somehow you cant get back into the store once you purchase alcohol.
Ive always enjoyed shopping at Whole Foods. Today Im doing a little extra shopping and require home delivery. Everything worked out well. I do think that they shouldnt charge for home delivery, and you the customer feel obligated to tip the delivery person, on top of the delivery fee.
I generally love going to whole foods. Today I stopped in to get a bottle of chocolate goats milk which is so great! However after I had left the store and was already on my home I had a opened it up to have a sip. I thought huh...It tastes kinda gross. I had another sip thinking it was just me but after inspecting the bottle I found that the sell by date had passed by nearly two weeks!!! I was really disgusted and dissapointed.😕👎
Been here to eat and they were fine. However this review is dedicated to their mochi ice cream which are unacceptable! I love Whole Foods especially for these, but I really don’t recommend buying their mochi ice cream here. They are not fresh at all, bought two and none of them were good.
Whole Foods always has great service, no matter which location you go to of theirs. They are always willing to help you out with your shopping needs. That being said, Im glad that they opened one in this area. This area is ridden with terrible small supermarkets that dont offer a lot of variety, so it is refreshing to see a chain store as good as this one around here.
The BBQ place upstairs was amazing. The chopped chicken sandwich, with or without quick pickles is the only way to go. The Memphis BBQ is perfect. I was given a sample by my hostess, it was absolutely delicious. So good it made me get seconds. 20/5 dont go more than three days without.
As a local lower east sider, I consider myself a regular. Like many Whole Foods in the city they have a great upstairs public space that I sometimes use to study and some small fast foods spots. Prices are a little pricey but like any other Whole Foods are balanced by the great variety and quality of products. And staff is super friendly, except for the security guard at the door. Very rude! Heh avoid him.#SameTimeNextWeek
Well, I wasnt as happy this visit because they didnt have my lobster bisque soup. OMG! I tried it once some months ago with cornbread and couldnt believe how delicious it was. Ill be on the lookout for it today. Everything looks great. I like that they have Amazon Prime and you can save money on some of things you buy.
Imagine doing your shopping in the middle of an Amazon warehouse. You cant walk through the aisles because workers are blocking the path with their carts as they fill delivery orders. Items are often out of stock due to either poor inventory management or goods being taken to fill delivery orders. When you try to pay for your items, a delivery worker cuts the line in front of you because they dont have time to wait in the line if theyre going to make their delivery on time. You cant enter or exit the store because delivery trucks are in the way. This is what the Whole Foods on Houston St. is now like...a mini fulfillment center for online delivery orders. Shopping here has become a truly horrific experience.
One of the best places to buy all fresh and organic food would be at Whole Foods. With several locations in NYC, they offer varieties of wholesome food. I like coming here during the weekends sometimes just to see what is on sale and maybe get a chance to sample some of the food. The place is clean and well organized with many friendly workers on the standby to help you. What I like about this place is that sometimes when you are sampling food, they have recipes printed so that you can cook what you sampled. The recipes are simple and quick, so a family meal no longer has to take forever to make, it could be as little as fifteen minutes. For those who like to cook, Whole Foods offer cooking classes so you can expand your horizon on food knowledge and quick tip meals.
I feel bad for the staff because theyre very kind and its clearly not their fault, but trying to find something here is a mess. Theyre undergoing serious renovations and none of the staff can help me find items (or it takes three people and 15 minutes). Things like certain prepared foods move around week to week, and check-out lines are long. I could go to Trader Joes and have the same experience with more competitive pricing ;)
Im aways happy with the overall ambience of this venue. The people are always accomodating and informative. They usually have the produce I need here, and when they dont, they give me a rain check. The music always puts me into the mood to shop. And the location is very convenient.
This location really needs to do something about the homeless people in the store. I dont understand how you build such a nice location and beautiful cafeteria and allow it to become a homeless shelter. You have druggies sleeping on the tables, people hanging out in the bathrooms and your security guard along with the NYPD officer on his phone are doing absolutely nothing. I suggest enforcing a paying customers only policy because its ridiculous!
Standard Whole foods -- I hear this is the largest grocery store in the city by square footage though. They have a decent pre-made selection for quick lunches and an equally decent hot bar. They of course are also good for those harder to find items, and they have a nice butcher as well
Great produce and central location!Edit: produce and goods often out of stock at peak times. Employees seem rushed, and help hasnt been as great. Disappointing. Hopefully these are simply growing pains with the Amazon transition.Edit 2, Sunday August 26: upgrading as it seems like things are more frequently stocked and less empty shelves.
Security at the door always has a scowl look on their face. The staff is never helpful (except for the butchers) when looking for items or knowledgeable about food in general. They open at 7AM. Let me repeat, they open at 7AM. What kind of grocery store would open so late? Forget trying to grab something before you have to send your kid to school or anything convenient like that. Other than those rants the meat market is great as well as cheese, beer, and olive bar selection.
Big grocery store with soooo much choice. Lots of fresh food and veg, good meats and huge range of niche goods - i didnt look but i bet you can get Vegemite here. It is not cheap though. Prices marked up for the trendy healthy eating crowd. Its much cheaper to be fat and unhealthy in the USA
I often go to this Whole Foods for their produce, specialty items, and their food bars. They have an extensive array of food on their food bars, and the eating area upstairs often always has available seating, as it is so big. The floor-to-ceiling windows in the dining area make it okay not to engage in the potential random people that sit down next to you, and its nice to be able to look out onto a busy city block. Although a bit pricey, the food is worth it, and the space you have to dine is nice, as well.
This Whole Foods is just massive. It takes up the whole block and has a upper floor that has food and tons of seating.Theres some stadium type seating near the restrooms that has some outlets. I guess its for you to charge your phone. The restrooms are upstairs, but you need a code to open the door. Its on the receipt or if you ask nicely you might get it.The express checkout was interesting. Using color codes to breakup the line into 4 rows. First time ive seen that.
Crystal (I think, I waited too long to write this), the girl at the returns desk with the short black natural hair, was so helpful and friendly! I like this particular store a lot, and she just made it that much better!(Now you just need to get them to not close the deli meat counter before I come in at 10:45pm before my overnight shift lol)
Todays times affects the service. I was shopping for cornish hens because it was Thanksgiving and I went to the customer service desk. She made an announcement for someone from the meat department to respond to my inquiry. I use a walker and no one responded so I took the elevator down to the meat department to check for myself. When I arrived the employee from that department was on his cellphone. I was so annoyed. Not only because he was on his phone and I had to make the trip to find out that they didnt have any cornish hens available and as well as the employee didnt hear the announcement due to his distraction of using his phone while on duty.
I really enjoyed shopping at Houston street location but as of today, Im turned off by the amount of dogs they allow into the market. Apparently, service dogs are allowed but people are using that as and excuse to go to the market with their dog that are not service dogs to make Purchases and. They allow the dogs at the OPEN SALAD BAR N ALL OTHER OPEN FOOD AREAS..today the dog was smelling the olives as I was approaching..the owner looked at me as if it was ok.this is really unsanitary!!! The manger Manny said they cant check verification as to the truth of what service provided. This is out of control..unsanitary n hazardous!!!!!Whole foods is really focused on money n not great customer service..
The best thing about the Bowery Whole Foods Market is the people who work there. Some of the great longtime employees whom I’ve known since the store opened are: Michelle in the bakery, Austria, Tata, Mary, Daisy and Felix. They are hardworking employees who are kind, personable, and professional. I look forward to seeing them when I shop there. There are also some newer employees like Dionne and others whose names I’m not sure of who make this particular WF the best one in the city.
Pros :The employees are helpful. Didnt have time to cook. So I enjoyed a spinach and cheese mushroom. Yum.Con: Why do l live in a Supermarket desert. I either walk a mile and a half, or two miles. To shop at a whole foods. Is it possible to have one under Houston or Broadway?
Whole Foods Cafe is always packed. Get there early and grab some organic food to eat. Surrounded by nice people. Remember to keep your receipt because you will need the code located in the bottom in order to visit the bathroom. Try not to fall asleep on the comfy couches.
Under construction and a little hard to navigate. I purchased a perfume that was defective. When I went to customer service I gave the product to someone who said theyd take care of it. I waited 10 minutes and then found out no one was actually taking care of the exchange. Large upstairs so you can sit for a while.
This is a nice, uncrowded Whole Foods, with something for everybody. Theres an ice cream bar downstairs, a beer room next door, and a whole healthy food court (and coffee stand) upstairs. Prices skew high, and the ownership might be douchey, but this place definitely fills a need, if only for the bathrooms upstairs.
Busy location but what you can expect from a Whole Foods in NYC (Columbus Circle is a little bit less crazy/more spacious). That being said, it is still well run and efficient. The often offer great samples and you can find a lot of great items & produce on sale. Great cheese selection and I am a huge fan of their salad bar.
Good overall selection of health foods and care products, but produce and some staple food items (beans, pasta, canned vegetables) is extremely limited (particularly organic) and picked-over. Aisles are cramped. Very good made-to-order foods (salads, grill, sushi) on upper level.
Port authority has better kept bathrooms. Showed up with my wife at 10:30am trying use the bathroom and found homeless people sleeping in the waiting area. The bathroom had paper towels all over the place the toilet seat cover despencer had a bloody napkins stuffed inside. Hard to believe that Whole Foods in a nice part of the city can have such low standards for sanitation
There is always a long and slow moving line. Everytime Ive gone in for ice cream, they either dont have the flavor I want or they have a very limited selection of flavors for a brand. If Im lucky to find what I want, theres the damn lines you have to deal with. The ice cream ends up 25% melted by the time I get to the registers. All the customers are agitated with the long wait so I fo not understand why they havent changed their operation. So stupid!
A beautiful store TERRIBLY managed, so much worse since the Amazon absorption. ive been going here daily for 10 years (even used to work here as a cashier), and the steep, fast downhill trajectory of this place - understaffing, empty shelves, unbelievably long lines - since Amazon is just remarkable and so clear.. and we know its not as if they cant afford to staff up their workers!Tonight, with my three items, checkout took 25+ minutes - as just five obv overworked cashiers faced long lines of angry nyers that stretched to the olive bar. It was bad...and not uncommon. My friends have stopped shopping here, and Im ready to stop too. I would avoid if I were you.
I frequented this location a lot during my student days in Tribeca. This location has a great selection of hot food options during lunch time. Also, there is a huge second floor seating area to dine-in. As expected, the seating area is packed during lunch, and gets quite noisy. There is a section for children to play, so youll hear a lot of screaming children and their nannies. Also, I hear Taylor Swift shops at this location.
I just wanted to say I’ve been living on top of Whole Foods for over 13 years and lately my experiences there have been awful with the cashiers rude and seem like they don’t want to work.... my boyfriend and I went downs stairs yesterday spent more than 150 on groceries and as we’re looking around before we paid we saw a jar of avocado mayonnaise and I told him we will get it the next day... so I’m here today to tell you my boyfriend mistakenly picked up the wrong mayo and as soon as he made it upstairs (because I literally live on top of Whole Foods) I instantly ran down to see if we could exchange it he came upstairs in a hurry and with that being said he forgot the receipt so when I went downstairs to try and see if the female at the register could help me she seemed really annoyed to return something I for sure was NOT GOING TO EAT. She told me that it was impossible to find my receipt because she was super busy after him she saw like 15 ppl at the register after he paid. That doesn’t sound so truthful cause when i went downstairs she only had rang up 1 person and there was nobody standing on line. I understand mistakes happens but at the end of the day I had to ask the female at the next register who didn’t help my boyfriend to help me find the receipt and they didn’t find the the receipt because the girl kept shrugging her shoulder and acting like she didn’t know what to do I’m for sure she through the receipt paper in the garbage right underneath her and my boyfriend only bought two items burger buns and a sriracha mayonnaise, the girl wasn’t doing anything to help but thank you to the nice lady next to her she still attempted to help us. It’s sad it took somebody who didn’t help us with our order look eager to help us and this is not the only time it’s happened please Whole Foods teach your staff patients!! And hire people who do want to work for you and another incident with a guard we came in half an hour before closing I didn’t get greeted with a warm welcome I had a couple of employees and the guard from Whole Foods roll their eyes and say (why do they keep coming in) as if we didn’t hear them... it’s really sad really really sad how people who you are giving your money to can make you feel uncomfortable. FIX IT JESUS
They should always have soy nuggets on the salad bar and when theyre available prepackaged they should be the same $9.99/lb as the salad bar, not $11.99/lb. Staff is usually pretty sweet tho, and that deserves credit considering they all work for a giant soul sucking corporation.
Staff at the burger bar upstairs was so unbelievably rude to me. I’d been standing waiting to order so long and this guy looks at me like I had the audacity to try and order. After a while he looks back and he confronts me with this aggressive attitude and says “what? You wanna order something? Look at the black box right in front of you!” And I’m so startled and confused until I figure out he’s trying to tell me to fill out the order form in the black box but I already have it filled out and had it in my hand. When I don’t respond he get angry and starts approaching me “the black box right there!” And I hold of the order slip in my hand and his demeanor completely changes Because he knew he was in the wrong and should have just come up to me and taken the order like a normal person.
I have bought so much rotten food from their prepackaged lunch aisle that I cant really blame Whole Foods any more. Shame on me for coming back to this place time and time again but it is on my block and very convenient. When Its not rotten everything is pretty good. That said, about 25% of the stuff I bring back to my office is either moldy, turned, or just about to. If you buy any of the fruit salad or the prepared chicken or the sandwiches in the plastic triangles, do yourself a favor and open it while you are still in front of the store. It will save you a walk back there when you find all the white fur growing on the bottom. Good luck.
I wish I knew they served food in the upstairs. I would have gotten a 10 dollar salad instead of a 20 dollar salad. I would have ordered a cemita to go along with my salad.Finding a seat/table can be difficult at peak times. If this place is the one Top chef used then its bigger on TV.
I shop here once a week because its on my way home. So often they are out of standard items. One week they were completely out of peanut butter. How does that happen. Another time they were completely out of vegan yogurt. I had to ask about it, and then he found some. The store is clean, but I just find that items are not always completely stocked. Last week they were out of Kite Hill cream cheese.
And mainly Im writing this more for the Beer Room than anything else and everything else tends to be top notch when it comes to Whole Foods, but that Beer Room is legendary. It is one of the pieces of my foundation when it comes to consuming craft brew beers. If youre into more than just the typical domestic beer. Head over there and take a look at what they have to offer.
Huge store, lots of selections to choose from. Prices are on the more expensive side, but occasionally groceries are on sale - depending on what promotions are happening. Their hot food is so delicious, a lil pricy if you do the buffet, but you can order a burger and sweet potato fries for $6 really good deal. Great place to grab a bite and meet a friend. Lots of meetups happen upstairs. Wifi is spotty though. Restrooms are upstairs in the back, code is on your receipt.

2022-05-15Full of lies and greenwashing, with all these labels that are meant to make people feel better about industries that abuse animals for profit! We dont need animal products and its always unsustainable. Whole foods has a tons of plant based alternatives and not need to buy into these lies.

2022-03-01Of the NYC Whole Foods stores, this one is the best for buying beer. Excellent selection, reasonable prices - especially if you take advantage of their tap lines and fill up your growler there. They occasionally have samplings, which is cool. A great spot to find beer from across the United States and around the world.

2022-07-11I was followed around the store after I took my groceries to a cashier learning that self checkout doesn’t accept cash. This man in the picture literally followed me in multiple isles and then when I ask for his name, he rudely declines and runs away?

2022-02-27Rude service at the fish department. I bought a whole fish and the guy wrapped it quickly without offering to clean and scale it. It seemed he had no experience. When I asked him if it was cleaned and scaled, in a nasty tone of voice he told me “you should have said so before”. I’ve seen fish scaled before and he barely worked on it. He did it with disdain rolling his eyes at us. Some of the staff needs to be put in check. Common courtesy is not a chore, it’s your job. Sunday 2/27/22

2022-04-03Bought the raw (not roasted), unsalted cashews from the store brand. Best cashews Ive had. Plantain chips are legit too. Personnel was content with minding their own business

2020-09-16Service has been great up until checking out. Cashiers seem to be extremely frustrated not at customer but about their day in general. Been going here for years. One of the same cashiers thats been working there for some time who was always happy and friendly. Now looks like they are waiting for the day to end so they can run out of there. Everyone seems overworked and unfortunately takes it out unintentionally on customer by careless attitude, ignoring requests to separate detergent from seafood and placing squash able items at bottom of bag and then putting heavy items on top. A bit frustrating and sad to see this happen at LES store. Ive actually switched to union square and Bryant Park WFs. Due to the extremely consistent poor checkout experience. I dont even dare ask for anything to be bagged separately. I let them tell me total and after if necessary go to side and rearrange delicate items that were placed beneath heavy items. Recommend other locations.

2022-03-26The male staff working at self-checkoutYesterday, March 25 around 3pm, was very rude towards me as I was trying to scan and use voucher I had. Please train your employees to not get their frustrations out on customers. Thank you
