This is a great place and it needs more popularity, it housed William Floyd who was one of Former Delegate to the Continental Congress. it has a rich history of America and this should make the mastic/shirley/mastic beach a more rich in history. You should really try and check this place out if youve got the chance!

Place is great beautiful. Packed with history exactly like the day they left it . Unfortunately thats how it remained. I went there today and they are fixing the main house wich was great but the trails were not maintained full of fallen branches and overgrown tall grass knee high. The main issue is the TICKS!. There are so many ticks in these trails that its not even worth taking them. By the time you get back to your car you will find multiple ticks on your person guaranteed. As a former victim of tick attacks I sujest you skip these trails for now until major changes are made in reference to the parasite issue.

Interesting (& sometimes disturbing) history of a founding father. The tour through the mansion is cool & displays a lot of the old architectural styles & themes. Very interesting, grounds are well maintained. Cool bird walks here on occassion.

We hadnt been in 2 years but came back to walk the grounds. Looks like the paths and fields are no longer being maintained. What a disappointment. Tree debris both large and small littered the paths. When path grass is up to your knees its not worth the tick risk. What were once manicured open fields are now completely overgrown. Even though we were the first to walk the paths that morning (Sep 27th) there was no wildlife to be found. Normally early entry here (in the past) youd see herds of deer in the open fields and running across multiple paths. : (

Loved the history of the 25 room house, walking through it is like going back in time. Each room is so unique and preserved perfectly with the priceless belongings as they were left. Standing in a +250 year old house of one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence is a very humbling and special experience. Tour was free and took only an hour.

Beautiful grounds and beautiful house. Very helpful rangers, clean bathrooms, good parking. Make sure you bring bug repellent, lots of ticks and deer around. NOTE: Do not use the pin on Google maps to navigate here! It will take you to a locked entrance. Enter: 245 Park Dr, Mastic Beach NY 11951 into your GPS or map application instead.

The William Floyd Estate was a perfect afternoon experience my wife, newborn and myself. The National Park Ranger Guide was wonderful. I honestly am blanking on her name mainly because everything she had to say was about the Floyd Estate and family. She had been there since 79 and had so many interesting stories about the house and the estate. Great time spent on some beautiful land. Fantastic and surreal view of the ocean from the house too.NOTE: When just clicking Directions on your phone it will take you to the wrong place. Make sure you click on the actual entrance address.

Free 1 hr 45 min tour of the 25 room home (length varies by guide) by a very knowledgeable guide named Denise. Covered everything from Revolutionary War era to 1960s when the house was donated. Tons of well-preserved artifacts. Graveyard and nature trails on the estate as well.

A nice place for a historical walk with family or friends. A guided tour can be arranged to see the house and the property. Open on weekends starting Fridays. Be prepared for ticks and mosquitos. Lots of them!

Great tour of American History. The house is preserved as it was left (for the most part) by the last owner. Bring bug spray though, the ticks are everywhere.
