The hotel and room was super clean. Excellent views of the mountain. Fire place felt great after skiing. Very friendly staff. Extremely quiet, couldnt hear any of our neighbors. Didnt have a full breakfast due to covid but still had a grab and go breakfast available. The best part is they leave the coffee and hot water station out all day so you can grab a quick cup on your way back to your room.
My husband and I spent two nights in Ellicottville, choosing this hotel based on location (half a block from the downtown business district) and positive reviews. We were not disappointed. Friendly staff at check-in, clean room, perfect location to walk to breakfast and dinner/drinks.
Beds clean, staff very nice and helpful. Beautiful well kept pool and jacuzzi. They might not have a lot of staff but they did amazing working very hard. I honestly will come back next year around the same time. I came here about 8 years ago and the service is still amazing!!
The location is great to the village. The bathroom was very small and not updated at all. The staff in the morning was very rude especially the woman handing out the bag breakfast. We did not receive a hot breakfast. The coffee and hot water were not even hot. I had to microwave my coffee. On leaving, the main desk attendant was on the phone, she pointed to a basket for me to put my room key in. Not what I expected for 200.00 a night.
It is a typical clean hotel room, nice lobby. Very nice how they make completely grab and go breakfast bags, as a solution to Covid. Although I would have like a breakfast sandwich or something with more substance than a muffin, granola bar and fruit with orange juice. The pool was open until midnight but was not very warm, the water was an off color, the bottom needed to be cleaned and the area around pool also was dirty.
The facility is clean and inviting. Staff was very friendly. Especially a woman named Carol! My fiancé and I were celebrating our 6 year anniversary. Our wine opener broke..she allowed us to use the hotels and gave us 2 wine glasses. We thank you for making our experience wonderful. We highly recommend you stay here!
Booked this hotel through a website that seeks pet-friendly rooms. We did this two weeks before our intended stay ($852 for 2 nights!!!). I was taking my wife, 7-year old and 3-year old skiing for the first time. We checked in Friday evening. The whole family came through the lobby, dog and all. The next morning, I took my dog out to potty with my son and came through the lobby to get a coffee for my wife. I was in the dining room when a rude voice yelled, “What room are you staying in?” I looked in the direction of the yell and realized the person at the front desk, behind a plexiglass COVID cover, was speaking to me about 30-35 yards from where we were. I walked over to the front desk area and gave her the information she was requesting and was met with another completely inappropriate question, “You do know we have a $75 pet fee, right?” I informed her that I had purchased through a pet-hotel-finder and was under the impression that was partly why I was spending $426 per night for this room that shouldn’t be more than $100. She rolled her eyes and shaking her head “no” quickly assured me that I owed another $75 per fee. I asked her why she was being rude and that I would gladly come back down and take care of anything else we owed. She said, “I’m not being rude. You don’t need to come back down, I will charge it to your room.” Great work Wingate! Millions of people are unemployed and you pick Tanya as the face of your hotel. She embarrassed me in front of my 7 year old, as well as the rest of the people in the dining and lounge area as she announced and reprimanded me for something that I was completely unaware of and clearly not hiding! It amazes me that the one place that you would expect to be treated with kindness, respect, and hospitably, instead, the first time we have been out as a family since COVID reeked havoc on this world, we get to experience this. No thank you! Love Ellicottville, hated our stay here.
Nice small town area that has many places to eat within walking distance of the hotel. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. Breakfast in the morning is good for a hotel breakfast. Ellicottville water tastes and smells like sulfur. Sometimes the rooms are hot at night. Very pleased overall.
Great hotel! The room was clean and spacious. Staff was friendly. Breakfast was very impressive, lots of selections and the Belgium waffles were awesome. Best part of this hotel is location. Its situated right in the middle of town so you can easily walk to all the shops and bars in the area. Will definitely stay here again the next time we go to Ellicottville.
Have stayed here a few times over the years. The rooms are clean and nice. Air conditioning unit against the wall appeared to be broken, but the wall thermostat worked. Noisy at night. Could not figure out to what I was listening. The breakfast buffet was hot but limited. Great location for walking into the town of Ellicottville. Has the potential to be 5 star but not there yet. I will return. Dr. Bob Sadowski. Waverly, PA.
Room and amenities in the room were OK. Nice pressure in the shower. The AC unit in our room squealed really loud. We should have reported it to management and changed rooms but we stuck it out. It should have been replaced Pool is small. Breakfast had similar offering to a HI Express but the quality was not as good.
Overall the hotel is decent. Wall paper was coming up on certain parts of walls, and the bathroom light fixtures were sometimes loose. The breakfast was okay, one of the worse hotel breakfasts Ive had (that were free). Staff seemed friendly and the fitness room and pool area seemed decent. A bit overpriced for what you get.
The hotel was very clean and the housekeeping staff was excellent. Included breakfast looked awful, 1 waffle maker out of 4 working, with a line on holiday weekend. Stuff in heated bin was stuck to bottom. Chose the hotel for included breakfast and then went elsewhere because it was disgusting and the wait for waffles was crazy. Also, they put a charge on your card for incidentals and DONT tell you. Just got off the phone with an unapologetic front desk representative. Not a great first experience.
3.5 stars is what Id go with here. Now mind you, some of the cons were due to covid-19 regulations.Pros:-Free parking.-Free internet wifi.-Staff friendlessness.-Big room.-Pool/Hot tub (Hot tub was closed).-LOCATION. Once you exit the front, you can walk through the bank parking lot, make a left, and you are directly in town on the strip.-Small microwave/fridge in room-Pet friendlyCons:-Hotel needs minor renovations.-No housekeeping done during your stay (covid-19 regulations).-Bed was ok, sunk in the middle. Wife woke up sore. Mattresses may be on their way out in some rooms.-Room bathroom had a weird mildewy smell, needs some reno.-The pool was absolutely freezing.-Pool towels/some room towels were rough/ scratchy.-The hot tub was closed (Covid-19 regulation).-The complimentary breakfast was a grab bag with a bandana or an orange/water/oj/blueberry muffin & granola bar. (I dont really consider this a con, but a hot breakfast of some type wouldve been nice. They do give you a lot in the bag though as specified - Covid-19 regulation).-Phone didnt ring the front desk when needed. You have to phone them to use the pool, but it didnt work for whatever reason.Id recommend a night stay, possibly two. Again, we went during the pandemic, and some stuff is either closed or changed. Just be aware. Your best bet is to call the hotel and inquire. We may stay again once armageddon is over with.. If were ever back in town.
Great hotel in a great little town. Clean rooms with a modern feel. Staff was so nice (shout out to Sammantha who was amazing). Great pool and breakfast area.Just a few things to keep in mind (nothing that would detract from a 5 star rating from me...just some FYIs). If you stay on the first two floors, there are no ice machines. You have to go up to 3rd or 4th floor. Elevator is sllllooooww. Made me nervous for a second...but you will get there!Staff did a great job with COVID protocols. We appreciated the great grab-and-go breakfast.
The front desk attendant, Larry, was very warm and knowledgable about the Ellicottville area. The inside of the hotel was extremely clean and the room was spacious with a great outlook over the ski hill. The continental breakfast was delicious and I would be happy to stay there again for another trip.
This modern hotel is located in the charming downtown of Ellicottville, NY. The hotel has a beautiful indoor pool and patio. It serves a very adequate breakfast. There is not a bar and restaurant, but a bar and restaurant is located across the street with many others close by. Service at the hotel is great and rooms are large, clean, and nice. Lots to see and do in this wonderful and beautiful town from the amazing Holiday Valley ski area and golf course, to unique shops, an amazing brewery, to fun bars and creative restaurants.Lots to see and do in the area. Plan to stay more than one day!
Modern, clean and well-maintained and located in the heart of EVL - its hard to find a better standard hotel experience if you want to be in walking distance of the shops, bars and restaurants in town. The off-street parking isnt the best or most secure as its just off the main street, so dont leave anything valuable in your vehicle. Safes are in each room and storage for bikes, skis and the like is available.Staff has been friendly and accommodating every time Ive stayed. Rooms are large, even the standard. Views can range from meh to magnificent, depending on floor and location. Everything has been 3 to 4 star on every stay, with minor irritations like slow elevators and broken icemakers being the only complaints. Really a nice, clean, spacious and relaxing place to stay overall. If you crave a hotel experience over an inn, b&b or lodge during your stay in Ellicottville, its the Wingate, hands down.
Nice clean room, great location for Ellicottville town festivals, friendly and attentive staff, good continental breakfast, 12:00 checkout was nice. Bathroom didnt have a switch-on fan but was vented. It would be really cool if they built a bridge over the creek that allowed even quicker access to EBC and the surrounding places, but I cant fault them for not having that, obviously.
Booked 3 night stay for Fall Fest. There was a special deal going on that was more expensive than Holiday Valley, but the location was so perfect that we decided to go for. The next day I get a call that they can’t honor that price, the promotion isn’t going on anymore. They refused to honor the price even though they already charged my credit card. So we cancelled and booked at Holiday Valley. Just think it’s unprofessional not to honor the price agreed upon.
About the only positive thing I can say is that its near the ski hill. Other than that the beds are very uncomfortable; the breakfast is meagre to be nice; the staff is visibly unhappy with their jobs; and the hot tub is under repair. But...it is close to the ski hill...

2022-02-14My boyfriend and I stayed in a suite at the Wingate for a night this past week. We were first greeted by staff who were so kind and made us feel welcome. We noticed the facility was very clean upon walking in also. We went up to our room and were both pleasantly surprised! The room was VERY clean. It was also spacious and comfortable. We will definitely be back to stay again!

2022-02-26Enjoyed staying here. What I liked: clean and modern rooms, friendly and efficient staff, good breakfast available, clean, well maintained, whirlpool and pool, very close to downtown Ellicottville and Holiday Valley. The parking situation is good. They are dog friendly too. Highly recommend.

2022-04-01I was appauled when during check in was told about the $75 pet charge. I didnt look ahead of time which is my fault. But having a screaming toddler in the car and just having had a 2 hour hold up with car issues we were desperate and it was the closest pet friendly hotel. I was expectinga pet fee but have never seen more than a $25 pet fee. When we entered our room we immediately found a toe nail on our carpet. Gross in any hotel but especially in a hotel that clearly prides itself in cleanliness if youre charging $75 extra for pets. The woman at the front desk was very passive agressive. She came and vaccumed to toe nail and then proceeded to vaccum the rest of the room... as though it hadnt been done. If this was the case we would have appreciated being given a new cleaned room. Instead I had to shout for her to stop as we were in the middle of getting ourselves ready to go to the pool with aforementioned toddler who really excited to go. I asked on two seperate occasions (check in and check out) to speak with a manager and the woman in the morning said Im the best youre going to get and really didnt seem very interested in any sort of customer satisfaction.

2022-02-06The customer service is great but the customers dont make it easy to relax there. We were woken up at 3 a.m. one morning by loud music above us and some drunk guys who had a nightmare and were looking for a place to stay. It wasnt funny when we had two kids fast asleep. I wish they would check around more often.

2021-12-24We came to Ellicottville to ski and spend time with family/friends with a group of about 15 (4 families) and most of us stayed in the hotel, occupying the bottom floor. We debated on staying at Holiday Valley for ease of skiing but we had a lot of kids and in the end, Im glad we stayed here because the kids could take off and grab food or go to the grocery store or stay at the hotel swimming while some of the adults went out to eat. Really an extremely convenient location. HV ski resort was less than a mile away (one of the kids walked back when she was done hanging out at HV one day) and the grocery store, shops and restaurants were all walkable. There was a hot tub which helped to lesson sore muscles after a day of skiing. The hotel is dog friendly and has carpet in the rooms, both of which I usually try to avoid. However, the breakfast buffet was great and we spent every evening in the lobby hanging out until well after midnight most nights playing games and talking. Great staff, never gave us a hard time, made a lot of good memories here!

2021-09-08Positive: Great location. Negative: Some staff were not the most pleasant or congenial. Lobby and dining area very non-description. One of the most boring we have ever stayed at. TV, fireplace and lights in guest lobby area weren¿t even turned on. Furniture in whole hotel very dated.
