Saw The Music Man with Mr. Jackman and Ms. Foster. The performances were great, especially Ms. Foster (though the audience melted for Mr. Jackson ... so-so, I thought, just walking through the paces). My disappointment was the musical ... this has not aged well and they should have let it R-I-P.
I am probably rating the play (The Music Man) as much as the theater. We had orchestra seats on the left. Good views. (Close enough to see Winthrop spit when singing about Gary Indiana, but far enough away to be well out of range 🙂). As with many NY theaters, leg room is at a premium.
Just returned from seeing The Music Man at the Winter Garden Theatre on Broadway in New York City! Outstanding!!! Hugh Jackman was superb! Music Man has always been one my favorite musicals and after seeing it on Broadway it has climbed to the top!!!!I have seen a number of off Broadway plays but nothing tops seeing it where it all begins😘 I never thought I would ever have this opportunity and I am so glad It finally happened!!
Saw Music Man last week and loved it! Our seats were Center/Right Mezzanine Row D, Seats 108-109 and they might be the best seats Ive ever had on Broadway and Ive sat everywhere! Orchestra, balcony, aisle, middle, front, back, standing room, etc. These seats had a clear view of the entire stage! All I needed was my glasses and I could see wardrobe details and facial expressions.Winter Garden still has vaccine policy so we got to the theater 45 min early and breezed through with no line. After the show, while looking for a cab, I heard people screaming and turned around to see Hugh Jackman posing for photos at the stage door!Tickets: I was coming from out of town with my elderly Mom so I needed to get tickets ahead of time but my friend did rush that morning and got $50 third row orchestra for the matinee. If youre not particularly a Hugh, Sutton Foster, or Music Man fan, I recommend the rush line.
Lovely venue!! Truly! Perhaps a little tight, but there arent many theatres that arent. Didnt seem to be a bad seat in the house, the view from the mezzanine was good, Ive certainly had worse. They were great at moving every one through quickly and concisely. Masks and vaccine cards required. For those looking to take home a fun souvenir the merch is easily accessible, I believe you can even purchase online and pick up after the show. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience in this theatre, perhaps Im biased because Music Man is one of my all time favorites!
Great location, the bathrooms are not as sure to get to, and you can get in and out of the theater quickly and easily. The seats are comfortable even if youre a little bigger like myself.Great energy, THEN there is the show. In our case we saw the music man. I could talk about that all day long, but sticky to the menu, its one of the better Broadway venues Ive been to.
Gorgeous theater. Saw a matinee of the Music Man starring Hugh Jackman. It was great and the set was incredible. Currently, they take masking very seriously, and you can easily feel the ventilation within the space—air was moving the whole show. Stay after to see the cast.
Always love watching any show at the Winter Garden. Saw Beetlejuice which was excellent and have watched Mamma Mia in the past. Great location and excellent staging. Seats were very comfortable. We sat in row M in Orchestra with excellent views of the stage. Had a great time! Came to see Music Man as well and it was sooo good. Watching Hugh Jackman from 3rd row rush tickets was a dream come true.
Very intimate setting. Dont be deceived by the seating map. There is not a bad seat in the house. They sell alcohol and beverages at concessions area. It is next to an Applebees and across from a Krispy Kreme. We were able to walk to this theatre from our hotel in Times Square within about 10 minutes.
Sat in a box with partial view rush tickets for the Music Man and it was such a great experience. While it was partial view, all the main scenes take place front and center. The theater itself has such a large seating area and plenty of safe exits, clean bathrooms, and a great bar.
This review is for the theatre itself. We chose box seats after the guy at the counter assured us that there were no blocked views and that we would get to see the whole stage. We expected the view to be from an angle but when we went to our seats, we could not see all the way in and the whole backdrop. We could tell that even the family in front of us struggled to get a better view during parts of the performance. To make matters worse, as we were figuring out our seat numbers on the chairs (there were 4 chairs numbered 1-4 and you could move them around), this other couple (who sounded like they were locals) barged in and took my seat which I was about to sit on! We totally did not expect this. It was an awful start. The seats should be fixed in position to avoid such unpleasant situations among strangers in a tight space. Come to think of it, we should have brought this to the attention of the staff because of what was told to us at the counter and the discomfort with the couple. The only pro to this situation is that you could see the actors up close with their facial expressions and Hugh Jackman clearly sweating from his hotness! IMHO, even the cheapest seats at the back will get you the full theatre experience!
Watched The Music Man, with Hugh Jackman. Really enjoyed it. Opening scene, brilliant. Well worth seeing, expensive, but worth it. Lovely traditional theatre, fantastic architecture.Tip, wear warm clothing as air-conditioning is really cold, couldnt feel my legs, by end of performance.
Ok, remember, this is a review of the theater facility itself, and not any particular show: Nice venue and a reasonably comfortable space/experience. The main thing Id note is if you have trouble with stairs, be careful with seat selection and stick to the main floor. Mens room is also down a flight of stairs, but the Womens and a Family/Accessibility is on the lobby/entrance level.
The Music Man was great with Hugh Jackman. The show gets 5 stars. The theater, not so much. Besides the crazy drink prices, my biggest gripe was the restrooms, or lack of them. I didnt have to go at intermission but the line for the ladies was unbelievable. I suggest skipping the crazy expensive drinks so you dont have to experience those lines. The seats were comfortable and the venue was nice and clean and well lit. This theater has been around a long time so I guess I should cut it some slack. Im just giving ppl a heads-up on what to expect.
During the last scene of today’s Music Man 2:00 show, one of the theatre ushers walked down aisle three and just stood in the middle of the aisle, her silhouette completely blocking the cast and their performance from our view. She lingered there idly for about 15-20 seconds and then turned and slowly walked back. It was extremely offensive and thoughtless to those of us who traveled across the country to watch this great show. I could not believe it. Literally, they need to get their act together. No excuses for this type of behavior.
Hello administration. Men’s bathroom is completely inappropriate and indecent. No separation between urinals. I received splash from the guy on my left. You can see each other private parts even looking straight ahead. I paid 1200$ 2 tickets for this show… Standards?!?
Saw School of Rock and it was great! It was my first venture into Broadway musicals and I have to say Im a fan 👍 Venue was really nice, but needs a few updates to be 5 star. The heat would be a great place to begin. Im guessing its okay for New Yorkers, but southerners may find it a bit chilly when its 11° outside. Seats are very comfortable👍
Came here to see the music man with Hugh Jackson and Sutton Foster and they, along with the entire cast, was exemplary. It was funny, it was well sung, and it was just a really good performance worthy of a Broadway show. I dont really know that there are many bad seats in the house, maybe way off in the corner but the performers all stayed within the center of the stage for 98% of the performances so as not to obscure anything. Additionally they had nice coffee with custom plastic cups. Its the small things. I had nothing but a good time and will someday return!
Very nice theater, one of the finest on Broadway. Comfortable seats, beautiful interior, but of course a good show makes the experience even better. Be prepared to bring your vaccination card, or photo, and mask. As of the time of this review youll need to watch the show with your mask on.
This was the only show offering rush tickets! It was well worth the 3 hour wait for $49 orchestra seats with a minor obstruction in our view during parts of the show. The theater is gorgeous! I also love that sone shiws have these new covered cups for cocktails and allow you to take it to yiur seat. We felt very safe with mask and vaccine checks. As far as the show: The cast was outstanding and worth every penny!
I saw this musical and I loved it! It was so funny and crazy! It’s irreverent! It made everyone laugh. It’s a small theatre. I sat all the way back, in the middle and it was perfect; didn’t miss a thing. I recommend for you to first go to the TKTS NY in Times Square to find out about the prices. Then go to the theatre. I found out that at the theatre it was always cheaper and had so many more seats choices! Watch out! 🤓
Winter Garden takes the prize for having the most expensive everything. Additionally, visibility is poor if someone tall sits in front of you (or someone with tall hair). The unusually good thing is that theres more leg room than most theatres--you do not have to actually stand up to have someone pass in front to reach their seat.
Nice theater but they have to work on their crowd exit. We were funneled down a staircase with one small opening when they had another wide staircase that they wouldnt let us use. I think they were trying to get us to go past the gift shop. If there has been any kind of a panic, people would have gotten hurt. Unacceptable!
Loved this cozy little theater and the perfect performance of Beetlejuice! Alex Brightman was phenomenal, and the whole production was gorgeous, exciting, hilarious, and sounded wonderful. Even with all of the other options in NYC, I would go back and see this again if I could.
We saw Beetlejuice at this theatre, I was a Beetlejuice fan back when the movie first came out and was really looking forward to this show.I was not expecting the theatre to be as amazing as it was, an absolutely beautiful theatre just as the other. roadway theaters are. They really went all out on the lighting and ambience for the show, the theatre was prepped just for Beetlejuice, phenomenal. The seats were excellent but from what I could tell there is no real bad seat in this house. The staff are great as always getting traffic moving off of the street and ensuring you find your way, program in hand. We had a celebrity in the audience this evening so the show was on and off the stage.I love the fact the theatre is situated where it is in order to allow a fast egress at the end of the evening as well.Cheers!
We went to see Beetlejuice the musical and it was probably the greatest musical Ive ever seen! Really thought the cast, all of them, did an amazing job. The set and all the contraptions working during the show ran smoothly as far as I could tell. The theatre itself was nice. Clean. They had bathrooms and exits upstairs and downstairs as well as a bar so you didnt have to go too far from any seat in the house.
I had a great experience seeing Beetlejuice there. Wonderful theatre, didnt take long to get inside and seated. The only issue I had was I wish there was just a little more room in between the seats. The guy next to me was literally touching my elbows the entire show. Other than that, it was an amazing time all together.
The show was amazing but the treatment of guests was awful. I watched guests be seated and then during the performance they were moved. The whole debacle was caused by staff who seated the guests in the wrong seat to begin with and then ruined the show for all seated nearby.
I saw Beetlejuice last night and it was incredible. An art in itself, it was beutifully done. Id call it eye candy. Alex Brightman and Sofia Carusso do an incredible job on recreating the roles Wionna Ryder and Michael Keaton originated. If you go to NYC at any given time, see BEETLEJUICE!
Very clean with a friendly staff. They even had a staff to manage the bathroom lines during intermission. The play was amazing too, with great acoustics, which I suppose also is important while reviewing a venue. Also, as seen in my picture I was seated pretty far on the side of the room and I didnt feel like there were scenes that I couldnt see from my angle.
We came here to watch Beetlejuice and was really entertained by the show as it was really funny with some great gags for young and old.The theatre itself was nice and clean we were in the stalls in ground floor. It seemed very intimate which got you more engaged with the story. The only gripe was the alcoholic drinks prices........oh my god!! 2 glasses of wine and 1 beer........60dollars!!! WOW!!!
Wonderfully designed, intimate theater space where even the corner seats in the back row of the mezzanine have a great view. And of all the theaters I’ve attended during the pandemic, Winter Garden has done the best job of enforcing mask rules—bravo, and thank you for keeping us safe and for making me *feel* safe!
Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice!! 😍 wow, what an amazing show!! Seriously, the whole thing was so brilliant and the comedy was hilarious. The whole cast were absolutely phenomenal and I enjoyed watching them perform so much. It was just one usher that I had a problem with. She was alright to begin with as she showed us our seats and gave us our Playbills, however when I went to get up and get a few more pictures from a close but different area in the Mezzanine, she began to shout at me from the back. I had only walked into one of the balcony sections to get a closer picture of the set when she shouted “you! Yes you, get out! Now!!” And then came over to get me out. She then said “where is your seat?!” (Despite her having showed me mine not long ago) and then telling me to stay in it. She was incredibly rude to another lady by telling her to move along the row to find her seat but she kept saying “keep moving, keep moving, keep moving” in an aggressive tone. Not to mention how she also told one woman to tap the person in front of her and tell her to put her feet down?! She didn’t even tell her herself which was very strange. Thank you **LISA** the usher being so kind!
I saw Beetlejuice here and at certain points in the show I literally did not breathe. The set was fantastic, the cast was amazing, and the music made me laugh, cry, and was stuck in my head for months. The seats are comfortable, and even right at the edge I had a good view of the stage. The bathrooms were big enough that the line moved quickly. As to be expected, drinks are very expensive. My only complaint is that this place is evicting Beetlejuice, a show thats breaking records, to make way for the music man. It just seems like they arent making good decisions here, and hopefully this fantastic show will be able to find a new home soon.
The young actors in this production have incredible talent. There are several ways to get cheaper tickets. One of the easiest is right around the corner before play time (As long as they arent sold out) Which they werent when we went on a Tues night during the holiday saeson.
We sat row N seats 38 and 40. We could not see the right side of the stage. The seats were nice and comfortable. The sound was great and the atmosphere is great. The bathrooms like any of the theaters on Broadway are an issue so get there early! The balcony looks like the seats are great.
I was hesitant to go to based on reviews. I loved the movie and briefly remember the cartoons. The show turned out to be great with lights and cheesy fun acting which I enjoy. I was happy that they had some talking in between the musicals. It was refreshing. Definitely go with an open mind and youll be happy.
I got late tickets to see Beatlejuice the Music. The ushers were eleated to be working and commented on peoples outfits. Everyone was helpful and enjoyable. The seats were very comfortable, not a bad seat in the house. Sound was perfectly clear, the sets were magical and grotesque in the best way. Loved my time there.
This theater has a feeling of history. It opened in the year 1911. Therefore the bathrooms are quite small and the architecture is traditional. The ushers were very friendly and helpful. All of the seats were comfortable and there is a supply of booster seats for children. The staff keeps this historic landmark clean and tidy. I would recommend seeing a Broadway show here to everyone. A very good experience as we got tickets for the School of Rock show.
We took our kids here for their first Broadway Show. I was pleasantly surprised by how small the theater was! We were in the second to last row and still felt very close to the stage. The staff was helpful and friendly and the facilities were beautifully maintained. And the show was great too!
Watched School Of Rock here for our second Broadway show of the visit. The theatre is quite small in the fact that it doesnt have a reception and you are at your seats as soon as you walk in (pretty much). Very nice old style building with great architecture inside. The show itself was brilliant and highly recommend, the kids play all the instruments you see! Only downside for me was, I asked for a coke and a rum&coke and it came to $25! This seemed wildly expensive but I may just be out of touch for Broadway prices.
Went to see a Broadway musical from Andrew Lloyd Weber, School of Rock. The theater itself has a nice visibility all around and a enjoyable sound. Its very well preserved and confortável. Also, the play was great fun overall and suitable for all ages, a great introduction to rock and Broadway shows.
I guess due to Covid they are not selling any drinks, but they will allow you to use the one single water fountain that is upstairs. How is a shared water fountain safer than just selling bottled water?! I was super dehydrated and dizzy and had to go upstairs and wait in line for the water fountain multiple times while feeling like I was about to pass out. Miserable experience.

2022-07-10Recently visited Winter Garden Theatre for the first time to attend a showing of The Music Man on Broadway and it was absolutely amazing. I love the vintage upscale atmosphere and the staff were very friendly. The view from the orchestra section is great and we had easy access to beverages. The show was so awesome. I would definitely come back again. Thank you for a great experience!

2022-03-01I loved this cute little theater. It was much smaller than I expected, but that was a good thing. Saw the Music Man here and it was spectacular. Loved it. Also, the usher guy on our side was the sweetest. So we’re the bartenders.

2022-05-06Watched The Music Man at Winter Garden Theater started by Hugh Jackman and Sutton Foster. It’s fantastic! Hugh and Sutton gave 120%. They were no doubt super stars. All cast members were also very good. Enjoyed the show very much. The theater itself is not big which gives a closer and more intimate vibe.

2022-04-26We went and saw The Music Man. The theater seems smaller than it is, and that is really a good thing! We had seats on the left orchestra Row E and they were excellent seats. I was a little concerned prior to going, because Im more of an up close and center seat type of person whether its a Broadway show, concert or sporting event. However, I think this theater is one of those, there really isnt a bad seat in the house type places. As for The Music Man, Hugh Jackman was excellent and Sutton Foster was fabulous as well. One of my favorite part of show was when Hugh made Sutton break character and start to laugh... he then looks and the crowd and gives a quick wink, like, got her, then they are right back to the show.My wife is really the Broadway person in our family, but even so it was a very enjoyable production and a fun story. I would certainly recommend The Music Man to all Broadway fans and even those who, like me...may have just gone because... well... someone important asked you to go to NYC to see the show. I know the tickets are not cheap, but The Music Man was certainly worth it!

2022-07-23Beautiful theater thats well maintained. I have seen many shows here. At the moment the music man is playing. Very nice show.Seats are tight though with not enough leg space. I would recommend to get seats in the mezzanine here as some of the orchestra seats have a more difficult view of the stage depending on whose in front of you.Dont be late, the staff get easily confused with seating arrangements...

2022-06-24I saw The Music Man on June 22, 2022. The theater is gorgeous but the staff was a little rude. It went as far as yelling at guests for taking pictures (which I know isnt allowed) but they yelled at them during the performance which seemed more of a distraction then anything. All in all, the ushers just seemed really short tempered.

2022-01-10I have been to a few Broadway shows at various venues. I always appreciate the quality of shows at the Winter Garden. The only thing I wish the Winter Garden Theatre had going right now was bar service, but due to COVID protocols, they are not serving beverages right now.

2022-03-15The theatre is beautiful and the ushers are really nice. We enjoyed the play and had a wonderful experience, since it was my daughter’s first broadway production they let us see the theater and gave her a sticker for her playbill. The music man was amazing

2022-03-01Saw music man in late February and it was great! The second act seamed to be better than the first. The crowd is very enthusiastic and energetic! This is a good option if you have kids. Although the first half is kinda boring. The theatre seamed smaller that I originally thought. DONT USE THE BATHROOMS they were only 3 in a stall and the line didnt even move during the intermission. We went upstairs and the line was wrapped around. It wasnt worth it. its better to go after the show. Be sure to get there early. People start lining up half a hour before! Hugh Jackman was great and funny! They broke lines a lot!

2022-05-22I saw The Music Man and the show was really good! The venue is only OK, I think they only had one set of bathrooms for the mens and womens for the whole venue that was down some fairly steep and narrow stairs. Its probably obvious, but if you plan on getting cocktails prepare to get gouged. I got a double and a single cocktail and the price was somewhere around $48! This isnt the place to drink. Id suggest bringing in some mini bottles and then just ordering something from the bar to mix with it at your seat for a much cheaper option.
