Interesting selection of burgers and sandwiches. I had the boar burger my son had the elk. We were both very happy with our selections. Very attentive staff and friendly. Looked like a great selection of beer, they had a board with 80 Beers Around the World with a name or 2 below it. We only had lunch so I didnt get past the US. I would definitely go back.
Great food. Nice for a grab and go meal. Every kind of sandwich you could imagine. The ‘down state’ on a wrap, one of my favorites! Not on the menu?, they always accommodate, however you like it. They are also known for their yummy burgers and pizza, and soup is always good (my favorite). Huge amount of food for your money. Amazing owners! Mike runs a great business and contributes so much to the community. Can’t go wrong at Wise Guys, I would definitely recommend it.

I used to like this place got it all the time at work, it was convenient and close, but sometimes there was problems with delivery times such as this next review. I called ahead of time I had asked for a delivery to be made not more than 8 blocks and after being told it would be an hour wait I had asked to pick it up thinking it would alleviate some of that one hour waiting time. It cut off 15 minutes which was great. Now that was no problem at all, but what followed was the last experience I will contribute to this business. Will not be returning. I showed up 10 minutes early and had paid for my order and had also tipped the clerk (mistake). I waited an additional half hour after being told 10 more minutes then itll just be 5 more minutes.As previous orders continued to pour out the door I could wait no longer and had no patience left, but to tell the inexperienced employee to have lunch on me as I walked out of the restaurant and to my car very angry. This may be a popular business around here with a good portion of the local population, but maybe cut down the amount of orders you are taking in if youre not able to meet said delivery times. Hope the sandwiches and salads were delicious to whomever got to enjoy them. Way too bad! The help you can give me is crediting my card for $25.30. Please do not respond with the right answer for the public credibility and as I said before, I will NOT be returning.
Food was extremely disappointing. Food was lukewarm and the fries were kind of half soggy, half crispy. My friends burger was INEDIBLE as the portabella mushroom was spoiled and too sour and acidic. The 1/2 Pound Angus burger was dry, Id recommend asking for a sauce or sauce on the side. So sad that this is my first experience of diner food at Oneonta despite all the good reviews.
Website says open at 10. person was inside but would not come to the door and respond to me at the door. Lost my business and I wont return
I can easily say that this is the best sandwich shop in Oneonta but Ill go one step forward from that. I am an over-the-road truck driver that has three and a half million miles under my belt. This is the best sandwich shop Ive ever been to. Wise guys is not playing games! You want an insane ridiculous sandwich this is the spot! Unfortunately I live in Texas but I would give just about anything to have one of your locations close by.
I think people accidentally hit 1 instead of 5 stars!!! Some people have to wear glasses next time they review! This place is amazing! Every sandwich is great! We order from work as well and never a mess up! The bread tastes great and the flavor combos really bring the sandwich to life! My kids get excited when I say we’re going to order Wise Guys! Keep up the good work Mike and all your staff!

Have patience when you go to wiseguys. Everything is made to order and could take up to an 45min to get your food. But... it is definitely worth the wait. Order ahead of time. Specially sandwich i had was out off this world.

This place is hands down my Favorite spot within a 2 hour drive. Everything I try is delicious and the service is fast and friendly. I missed good Long Island sandwich shops when I first moved here and Wiseguys makes me feel at home.

I’ve lived in town for years and I’ve eaten at just about every place in town you can not beat the prices, quality and customer service. Can’t ever go wrong eating here. Rubens and burgers are amazing along with everything else I’ve ordered from them over the years.
Some of the greatest sandwiches youll ever find. Tasty, filling, delicious... Dont hesitate! Theres a reason their clientele is so loyal. I love the Wyatt, but everything is great. Great portions got good prices, you cant ask for more.
What a wonderful place! I have been ordering and eating here since they opened in Oneonta. The bread is amazing! The sandwiches are amazing! And if you want a burger second (at a very small space) to 5 guys, order from here. The one word I would use for Wise Guys is consistent...and they are consistently delicious! Thank you Mike...you have made my move from the city and wonderful food there much less lonely....you guys are the best!

The service at Wise Guys was AMAZING! Our food came super quick and all of the staff was very attentive. The sandwich I ordered was called The California Kid and it was delicious!! Everything is so fresh and tastes like a home cooked meal so far away from home! I 110% recommend trying Wise Guys whether itss for the first time or as a repeat customer. I LOVE IT THERE!!!!
I swear coming here was a one of a kind experience, some of the best costumer service i’ve ever received in my life. not to mention the food was absolutely amazing!! the bread was so fresh, i highly recommended trying the half baked when you come here!! it’s easily become my favorite meal ever!!! you won’t be disappointed with anything on the menu tho, so i recommend this for anyone with a craving for some great food on a budget, the serving sizes are perfect and you can even get half portions if you’re not that hungry! definitely worth a trip!
One of the absolute best places for sandwiches and wings! The staff is warm and friendly. They serve many uniquely layered sandwiches with custom sauces that are perfectly paired. AND...The mango habnero wings are phenomenal. And thats coming from someone who usually passes on wings!! Definitely a must try place. You wont be able to stop there just once...
Super amazing sandwiches and subs- make your own or choose one of their awesome creations! Im super obsessed. They even have bar in a separate area. The workers all have great attitudes- Autumn in particular was super friendly and helpful! I highly recommend wise guys.

100% a 5/5 star restaurant! the bread is to absolutely die for i would take some home if i could. the wings and mouth watering sauce on them were absolutely divine but nothing compares to the wonderful service they have; everyone that works there has the best attitude and gives nothing but smiles and great help! my favorite part is the sand which combinations, it was unreal how creative and different they all were! if you’re looking for somewhere to eat and have a good time, go here!
Seriously the best sandwich I have ever ate!!! I got the Downstate sandwich and it is jam packed with the perfect blend of mouth watering flavors! They make their own bread and they dont skimp on any of the ingredients. Also their special Alabama sauce wings are insanely delicious. The owner is super nice and has brought a gem of to Oneonta. One of my new favorite places to eat anywhere. Seriously dont think twice. Try it and you wont be disappointed. I cant wait to try the other sandwichs and burgers available!

Fries were fresh made, fried chicken was freshly made. Coleslaw killed the vibe as it wasnt sweet to taste and was but discolored. Otherwise great sandwich and service.
Wise guy Sammys is one of my favorite places to eat I do have to admit they have some weird sandwich combinations at times but I have never once been disappointed by them and always find myself saying damn that was good. I am never able to finish the whole thing and always find myself full by the time I hit half of the sandwich. I always end up trying something new every time.
If you’re in the mood for a sandwich, don’t go anywhere else. This is the best sandwich in town. Also their pizza is very underrated. Extremely friendly staff as well, highly recommend.
I do not post often, they made a large sandwich when I ordered a small. I told them to charge me full price, the sandwich is worth it. Remember we make mistakes. When these guys make a mistake , and you get a whole sandwich, you are making out, even at the additional cost. They execute well. Good quality and quantity. Hopefully they will be around for along time.
I got the Down State sandwich and it was the best sandwich Ive ever gotten without a doubt. The garlic mayo was awesome. Atmosphere was awesome. The staff was awesome. Very friendly and the service was great. Cant go wrong here.

We LOVE this place its definitely our go to sandwich shop they do pizzas also and killer wings we have had a few different sandwiches all of which are incredible. They make the bread right there daily and its super fresh and better than anyother. If you are in the mood for a sandwich go! If you sit in to eat you get live entertainment.everyone is very friendly and remembers you. We will definitely be going back often as we can
This was our first time here and certainly not our last. Biggest regret? Not going sooner! Absolutely amazing subs and the onion rings are on point. I plan to make this my new sub spot and from now on and cant wait to try the next one!
Stopped in for the first time 4/1/19 while I was downtown to grab my coworkers food order. While I was waiting, I grabbed a drink as they were short staffed and a bit behind. The owner apologized for the wait, explained why, and covered the cost of my drink for the wait time. He explained he only wants happy customers and people to leave with a positive attitude, and good food. In my opinion he does business properly. Keep it up guys.
Please do not eat here. Ordered a stromboli didnt eat the marinara sauce that came with it. It sat on the kitchen counter for a few hours before the lid started to balloon out. I touched it and it popped sauce all over! Do you know how much bacteria has to be in that to make marinara sauce cup explode being at room temp for 3 hours?!?!? Neither do I but it has to be ALOT. Food is ok. Wife eats there alot but not this mofo ever again. Someone change that marinara sauce FFS before you kill someone!
Wise guys sammy’s has the most incredible menu! every time I go to wise guys (pretty frequently) I get a new sandwich, and they manage to put do themselves every single time. I most recently had the easy rider and the alabama connection absolutely heavenly! I wish I could rate them 10 stars. 10/10 would recommend
Would love to give this place a great review because the food is good, but the service is abysmal. Guys are nice but they can’t handle anything over a few orders at a time. There were two baseball teams there at the same time and they were churning out one sandwich every 5-7 minutes. We waited an hour. They never offered to comp drinks or anything. We got our drinks when we ordered and needed to order more because we were waiting so long. Again, food is good but if there’s more than one other person In there ordering, run away.
My favorite place to eat in Oneonta. Great location, right on main street. They use boars head meat too, which we all know is the best! The variety of sandwiches they have is amazing, i want to try every single one. They also have vegetarian options. My favorite is the mac attack, also love their caesar salad. Service is great and workers are friendly and helpful. The owner and staff both go above and beyond to make sure their customers get the best experience they can. If you have the pleasure of being in or visiting Oneonta, TRY THIS PLACE!!!!

I just wanted simple tasty sandwich.. I had their Reuben.. Well it was the best Ive ever had.. Then the bartender helped me pick out a few specialty beers for my husband.. wonderful experience and prices are very fair
A friend recommended Wise Guys so I thought I would give them a try, the sandwich was great, good portions of meat, plenty of flavor, a good sandwich. Wise Guys made a good first impression. I made them a semi regular lunch stop. One evening my wife and I stopped to get subs for dinner, well those subs were terrible, there was hardly any meat on the subs, like they made them on a hurry. Today I thought anyone can have a bad day, so I stopped for lunch, well two bad subs in a row now, again no meat on the sandwich. There was one slice of roast beef on the sandwich. I showed my co-workers and they said bring it back. I didnt bring it back but I took a picture of it. I hope this isnt a trend now.
One of the top 5 best places to eat in Oneonta. Soooo many sandwich options, the man who comes up with the sandwich ideas must be a legit sandwich artist. Every sandwich I’ve tried has been incredibly good, and they are HUGE. I’m a small lady and I can split a small sandwich into 2 full meals! And the damn bread they make....holy moly, I could eat it for every meal for the rest of my life and be satisfied.Super fast and friendly service, great drink selection in the cooler, and great chips!I would love to see them start making homemade fries for their sandwiches, mmmm.
I love this place! Great Sammy’s! Awesome people! Nice cold beer! Only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is because last time I went they were not wearing masks or gloves, as they are suppose to via the governors executive order. I will totally go here again, and I think they are great for our Oneonta community. However, due to the worry they have caused me about catching covid by not wearing masks I may not go back until the pandemic is over or they post on their FB that they are all masked up and ready to go!
I eat at this establishment regularly, but just recently tried their pizza. In line with their excellent customer service, selection of beers, their sammys, and their specials, I was not disappointed. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone, including families.
Drop there randomly for a quick sandwich. Ended up to be our best discovery. Large sandwiches are like two footlong subway matting !! Theres also a huge amount of selected craft beer and Mike the owner will make this whole experience even better with his warm welcome!

Honestly, I know Wise Guys is new and I have only been living in Oneonta for 4 years. But as a Senior, I think it’s time to commemorate the best off our the town’s local foods. And if I may, they have made the best sandwich I have ever tasted, I never thought I would see myself finding a ‘regular’ at a store and really love it that much. But Wise Guys, you did it.Alabama Connection, w/swiss, & avocado.And fries or a soup. Adds up to 10$ even.During hours of operation this is your best bet!

I got the impossible burger. It’s a meatless burger that tastes like a regular hamburger. It’s delicious and does not taste like a veggie burger that you’re used to. It even looks like meat. It’s the only place in town that serves them and it’s awesome! I’ve always loved the different food ideas they’ve had here and have never been disappointed.
Ate here almost every day for lunch when at work for over 2 years. Best sanwiches in town along with a lot of great other foods. You cant go wrong choosing to eat here.

Usually have great experience here but this time I was greeted on the phone by a lady who very shortly told me they were not taking orders because they are “too busy”. Living in the heart of NYC I doubt Oneonta could produce a crowed that could shut a resteruant down. I’m not being unreasonable if I had been told an order would have taken extra time that would be one thing but to flat out refuse customers is just bad business, especially in an area like this. In my opinion if you are looking for a place to eat in Oneonta on main street this is the spot. The owner is one of the best chefs in the area. When ordering a burger at Wise Guy Sammys its all about who you know. Lola, Murphy, the Drunken Cowboy or the Texas Hitman. You always feel like your name dropping at an exclusive club. I will admit, I am new to the WGS burger menu, until how I was only familiar with their vast array of hot and cold sandwiches. But this year, as WGS has expanded to include a bar and an ice cream parlor across the street, so grows their catalogue of ever-changing daily specials.All of their burgers are angus beef and served on a perfectly toasted brioche bun. There are no flat or limp burgers here. These burgers arrive and practically demand you unhinge your jaw to eat them, all the while cozied up to shining examples of french fry perfection.My lunch date was with Lola, an angus beef burger with double smoked bacon, pepperjack cheese, chipotle mayo, and a sunny-side up egg. If breakfast had a baby with a 4th of July cookout, it would be the Lola burger. There are so many flavors swirling around in this burger, none of which overpowering the other but all complimenting each other.Want something more substantial? Try The Great Southern Trendkill (an angus burger heaped with pepperjack cheese, smoked bacon, lettuce, tomato, coleslaw and chipotle mayo) the Texas Hitman (Cheddar cheese with BBQ pulled pork, onion rings and bourbon sauce on angus beef) or The Metro (a burger topped with hot pastrami, Swiss cheese, pickles and house-made rueben sauce).Two things are certain at Wise Guy Sammys; 1: If you cant decide between a sandwich and a burger, chances are they have a burger that combines the two, and 2: You will not leave hungry.Sammys had made me love ingredients and combinations I would have never imagined, and I keep going back to find a new favorite in their special of the day. Also, check out their ice cream parlor Sammys Scoops across the street! Highly recommended.

Waited a very long time. Food had poor flavor, the few parts of my sub with sauce was alright. Service was mediocre at best. Heard nothing but good things about this place, tried it and was left with nothing but the “won’t be ever going back to this place again” feeling. Bummer.

Stopped here for a sammy one day. Hope to stop again and try a different one. Its inside an enclosed shopping area/setup.

2022-05-24The staff was excellent. Very clean. I had the Hans Gruber and it was a very tasty sandwich. The different flavors blended well. Excellent sandwich. Others in family throughly enjoyed their meals. Interesting atmosphere. Will go back if in town again.

2022-05-22If I lived closer, Id be there often. My first time trying this place out, freaking amazing. I got the Hans Gruber sandwich and it did not disappoint. The bread was soft and fresh, just the right amount of meat, topping and dressing without over stuffing the SAMMWICH.Shouldve ordered another sandwich for the 4 hour trip back home. I left there smiling and full. People are nice and down to earth. Run to Wise Guys Sammys and have a good time.

Best fries in town, freshly made bread(those of you who are sandwich connoisseurs will understand), incredible and unique sandwich choices, monster sized strombolis, top tier pizzas, wide variety of beer, 80 beers challenge, great staff, affordable pricing.. think of a detail, and they nailed it. 2022-04-01One of only TWO downtown restaurants that are worth the money. Service is just about the best you could ask for. Food is always fantastic, fresh, made with top notch ingredients and Mike(owner) comes up with some great specials and twists of well known sammys. Great beer selection and a chill atmosphere. Youll drop $20+ a head to eat there but youll need a cart to roll out on! Typically a younger crowd but very welcoming to any ol person thats lookin for a yum lunch.

2020-07-30Heard rave things so decided to try it out since there was rain off and on tonight and they had some covered outside tables. The two stars are for the homemade chips which were crunchy and delicious. The sandwich itself was nothing special at all and I would not come back to spend $13 on another one. There was maybe 2oz of shredded turkey on mine, one small tomato slice on each half (?!) and a sprinkling of chopped (?) romaine pieces. I did find some small bits of avocado and the slice of bacon was tasty but bread was the overwhelming flavor since the sandwich was mostly just bread. I guess there is a bigger menu than the board outside but the employees didn’t mention one. We tipped on the order screen but why? The sandwiches were brought out to us but it was unclear how we could even get a cup of water and there didn’t seem to be table service. They forgot my pickle so my husband went inside to ask for one. Pickle was great!Anyway, mostly just bummed we used a night out on this food.

2020-12-01We were in Oneonta for a work day trip and stumbled upon this gem! The atmosphere was awesome and was only outshined by the DELICIOUS sandwiches! We had a difficult time deciding because every sandwich made your mouth water. Its definitely a MUST when you visit!!

2018-07-16The sandwiches are AMAZING. We are from Chicago and my son loves sandwiches. They make their own bread and the sandwiches are HUGE and DELICIOUS. It was hard to find but it is through the doors in the picture attached. Owner is really nice.
