Been going to Wo Hop since I was a teenager and got the opportunity to come back today. While the impact of the pandemic can be felt with the new table dividers this restaurant is still going strong. Be prepared to show your vaccine card and enjoy the ambience.Always ask for a pitcher of water and tea when you first get there: the fresh oolong tea is always great.Be prepared for big plates of delicious food. Youll need a truly big appetite to eat an entire dish alone so they will also bring plates so you can share with the rest of your party.If youre in NYC and want great Chinese food coke to Wo Hop!
Im only giving this place 5 stars for the experience and its legendary status in China town. For those visiting NYC its a perfect spot for old school American Cantonese Chinese food that defines American Chinese food. Worth the visit.
Wow amazing taste, every dish had plenty of sauce, flavor and portion. Has separate cabins outdoor(Sliced chicken with eggplant, Buddhas Delight, mushrooms fried rice)
By far the best Chinese food Ive had in NYC, perhaps the best Ive had in the US. Its cash only, the prices are amazing, and they serve the best hot green tea. The best dish in my opinion is the stewed eggplant but seriously everything here is delicious. Make sure to tip well because its a family run spot!
Remember that place you used to go to that was so great? Thing is, maybe you and it were both not quite as great as you recall. Wo hop is such a place. I dont know if the Szechuan sauce was a gloopy glue of sugar and mildly relatable spices back in the day, but it sure doesnt serve the curiously floured then boiled in gloop prawns that had as much potential as we did back then. The duck is as tired as we are now, with a comforting sauce straight out of the 1980s supermarket aisle. The chow fun time travels more successfully, with the smokiness of the wok coming through to the comfortably chewy rice noodles. 12 minutes in, and the bill is placed on the table, while we are still deciding if the final third of the food is worth tomorrows regret. Ah, back in the day though, thought was as superfluous as a gloopy sauce is today. Tomorrow we may be toothless, and welcome the return to the 70s.
Was recommended to go to the one downstairs. It was great! Cash only, but theres an ATM inside. We had 4d lo mein, bbq boneless ribs, general tso and broccoli beef. Around 70 with tip.
Im in love.Its an authentic Chinese place- you get in, you get food, you get out. Turnover is the name of the game, and they play to win. What you get out of it? Fast service, huge portions, authentic food, and a small bill.Come one, come all. Wo Hop needs the challenge, and the game never ends.

Like most places in Chinatown, Wo Hop on main Mott St only accepts cash, so come prepared! It is a pretty good place to stop for a quick bite if you are looking for familiar American-Chinese food and not wanting to be too adventurous. Egg rolls and dumplings are huge and meals onto themselves, so bring a few friends or bring an appetite! Then walk over to Columbus Park and watch the locals playing games. Sit on a bench and listen to them sing to traditional instruments.
Fantastic authentic Asian American food. Recommended by friends my fiancé and I had to stop in this place. Located in Manhattan I was super excited to get some food in my system. We had walked from Times Square to the Wall Street Bull and we were Hungry and in dire need of a beer. The Asian beer was tasty and the wontons and dumplings settled our every craving. Staff was nice and the outdoor seating made the whole experience that much more enjoyable
Liked it, didnt love it. The egg rolls are so big, can definitely split one. We thought the sweet & sour chicken was good. The servers are very friendly & the food comes out fast!

Of the hidden gems of NYC. Portions are massive and delicious. Almost tried ecerything. The egg spring rolls, shrimp egg fried frice and schezuan chicken were my favorites.
Great food with ridiculously high quantities, all at prices that make you wonder if you are actually in Manhattan.Ordered the chicken fried rice and chicken noodles for two people, and ended up having to pack up half of each dish. Both tasted really good and they didnt skimp on the chicken.Would strongly recommend. Only issue is that they only accept cash but there is an ATM in the store and you wont need much anyway.
Really authentic Cantonese eatery. Can get some unusual dishes like steamed pork with salty egg or clams in red bean sauce.
This was the best fried fish I’ve ever eaten in my life. The black bean sauce was on point. I will be back as soon as possible. The complimentary hot tea service is a nice touch!
Not sure how they achieved this rating. Ordered roasted duck chow mai fun. Textures were ok, but no favour. A bit oily on the bottom too. Eatable, but definitely no more than 3 starts.
Maybe years ago it was the hot ticket.I ordered the shrimp fried rice with broccoli.The shrimp tasted fishy. My plate didnt look appetizing at all. It was alright. Not delicious.My friend had the chicken fried rice with broccoli. Looked alot better as it has gravy all over it. Just ok, nothing to write home to mom about.
Great food huge portions couldn’t even finish it all. Had the spicy duck and kung pao shrimp with massive fried rice. Nice heated booths outside seating.
I was so impressed the first time that I went back the second time just to bring my out of state visitors! So far, favorite dishes include the chicken fried rice, any of the lo meins, and the dumplings.

My friend took me here because he told me its the best Chinese food hes had in NYC. And I can say it definitely did not disappoint. The food was delicious, portion sizes were huge and price was very reasonable. If youre around China Town, I would check them out for sure
LOVE this place. Been coming here for years. It’s a hole in the wall but has incredible food and great people. The workers there have always been kind, and some have even spoken Spanish to accommodate my family! The service is very quick. If I have to recommend one thing to show u how incredible this place is, then the beef with oyster sauce is a MUST. Absolutely incredible I get it EVERY TIME I am there. I have brought so many people here for the first time who become obsessed with this place. If you are looking for good portions and good quality Chinese food this is the place!
The best Chinese style food of this type I’ve had. The favorites-lo mein, ribs, and egg roll (my litmus tests on first orders at Chinese restaurants) were the best I’ve had. The staff is friendly, the atmosphere historic and quirky, the beer cold and the mixture of locals and visitors is charming. Fantastic, classic, NYC Chinese food. Service was fast and friendly. Reasonable prices. It’s been around for 50 years, and I can see why! It’s wonderful. The restaurant is small, down steep steps, in a diner type look. But fun decor with dollar bills from customers writing notes, pasted all over the walls.
Restaurant was recommended due to reviews and a James Beard award received. The food was good but not exceptional as expected by reviews. Tje spicy dishes we ate, well my dish, was very sweet and minimal spicy as menu advertising. Other than the spicy not prevalent, the food was covered in sauce and to me thats a fed flag of something being covered up. Customers were coming in and out and appeared to be regulars . Haven eat at a few James Beard winning restaurants, I wasnt impressed with my particular dish, General Tao Chicken....This was the first time at any restaurant that fresh brewed tea was available especially a Asian restaurant..
A frequent place by the locals, Wo Hop offers diners personal service with lots of energy and joy, not to mention a variety of good food. My son loves the BBQ ribs. I like the fresh steamed fish. Highly recommended if you want to not only get a meal but a taste of Chinese dining culture.
Awesome dishes. Loved the crispy noodle dish with pork! Super delicious. I highly recommend this place for a delicious and authentic meal.
The duck was great! A few other dishes were a bit salty but everything was quite delicious.
I like the shrimp fry rice taste very good , chicken wings had a fresh kill smell I didnt really like, so i skip them and eat the fry shrimp very good
Wo Hop has been a Chinatown staple for decades. Im glad, like other NYC establishments, theyve adopted outdoor dining from the pandemic, and have kept it to accommodate more customers. Unfortunately, staffing can be an issue sometimes, as youll see the waiters are workhorses working really hard. Another unfortunate circumstance is the heavy use of single use plastic disposable plastics. Definitely not a nice aesthetic, and absolutely terrible for the environment.Another unfortunate circumstance of the times is closing time. A lot of Chinatown establishments were the perfect place for a meal before or after a late night out, with most closing well after midnight. Unfortunately, now even on a Friday night, establishments close at 10P.Nevertheless, I still really enjoy the food. Beef Wonton Soup, Salt & Pepper Pork Chops, and pan fried noodles are my go-to. If I have guests, Ill order Snails with Black Bean Sauce for something new for them to try.
First off, if you havent walked down into the basement, youre in the wrong place. This place was recommended to me 20 years ago by a NYPD detective. The cops and firemen always know the bast non-tourist places. It has never disappointed! The walls are covered with pictures of cops, firemen, locals, the famous, and dollar bills with well wishes written on them. Anyway, to the food. We had an order of egg rolls with were big and plentiful. Then we shared the Chow Fun Pork. More than enough food for the 2 of us. Theres not much to describe if you know Chinese food. This is the real thing. Oh, and bring cash. No credit cards here.
This restaurant is special to us because my grandparents have been going to it since they were young. We have consistently done takeout for the last 50 years since my grandparents moved out of the city. They are no longer with us but this food connects us them. Delicious every single time. Cash only.
One of my favorite spots in Chinatown and alongside Great NY Noodletown one of the best true late night haunts in Chinatown. The food is very reasonably priced given the huge portions and the food is consistently great even though I still have to try everything on the menu. Great for large groups or just stopping when you are very hungry but a great establishment with great food, service, and hours.
Wo Hop! Wow! I have walked past this place many times but have never eaten here because it was always so crowded. I now understand why this place is always busy. Their food is great!I always ate at the nearby restaurants and thought they were great as well. Wo Hops portions are insane. I wanted to try two things but one dish was more than enough for me. The Hot & Spicy soup was spectacular, I almost felt the soup alone was enough of a meal to satisfy me :) the food arrived hot and the quality was exactly what I expected from a place that is always so busy.I ate here during Covid times and the staff wiped down the tables between customers and left hand sanitizer at the table for your use.The staff was attentive and easy to flag down. They spoke English and were very knowledgeable about the dishes. I will definitely be visiting them again soon, I just hope I can find a table.One thing to note is they ONLY TAKE CASH! It was a good thing I had enough cash on me.The waiters work hard, give them a nice tip. They deserve it. Enjoy your meal at Wo Hop, I certainly did.
A classic that does not fade with time. Been going here many many years, first with my dad and now with my kids, and it is as great every time as it was the first time. Great portions, reasonable prices, and amazing flavors. For me its all about the Chow Fun.
Went here based on a recommendation with three of my friends two weeks ago. We got the chow fun with beef, calamari, shrimp fried rice and duck. Everything was so flavorful and delicious! Waiters were very kind and helpful. Be aware that this is the DOWNSTAIRS location and a cash only place, but there is an ATM outside.

Good Chinese American food and good vibes. Cheap prices. Cash only. Fast and friendly service. Old-school Chinatown vibes from a bygone era. Second oldest restaurant in Chinatown and in existence for over 82 yrs. Food is served chop suey style. Hugely popular with tourists. Rivalry between Wo Hop 15/Next Door/Upstairs (street level). Wo Hop 17/ Downstairs is the authentic experience. If you have the take the stairs down to get there its the right Wo Hop.

One of my favorite spots in Chinatown. I found out this summer they have a separate menu for Chinese people. So if you have a Chinese friend or know a Chinese speaking person, take them and get something really authentic.
The customer service alone will be the reason I do not return to this place. Not only were they not accommodating, but they stood by our table watching us eat the entire time. This made us incredibly uncomfortable. The language barrier coupled with the pressure from the waiter caused us to order the wrong food. I let the waiter know that I wanted chow mein noodles and he insisted that I was referring to “crispy noodles”. I was confused on what he was saying but I ordered what he told me. The food came out promptly but it was no where near what I asked. when I asked if we could get another dish the waiter rudely told us that we can order something else but it would be additional and that they won’t take it back because we had ordered it. The other dish we ordered (chicken wings) was appetizing. Needless to say, I will not be returning.
Small authentic Chinese restaurant in the heart of Chinatown. Indoor dining in a small, intimate setting with a few booths and tables. Food is good and portions are big.
Delicious! Great outdoor spot with your own little tent. Heater and hot tea included. Service is amazing- thank you Wo Hop. Dumplings are really good- both steamed and fried. We went back twice to get dumplings since our first visit just for the dumplings. Plenty of vegetarian options. Hand sanitizer on the table. They also have plastic utensils which helps with covid safety. Again- the staff is lovely.

Food was delicious! Every dish we ordered was really good and those crispy stuff, ufff, so great!Every person in the restaurant ask you if everything is ok, so thats nice.The place itself is very peculiar, with signed pictures in the walls... I really liked it!It looks like a place everybody likes because its very full, with all the security against covid also!

The food had hair in it . I ordered orange chicken and it was awful . Overcooked fried breast chicken floating in sugary syrup. The menus is for multiple people . I went alone and one item cost me 17 dollars with no sides or rice or noodle . Flies were all over the place .

This place has reasonable food but not reasonable prices for the area especially considering you can get food in chinatown with a budget of 10 dollars the two main issues is they try to pack the plates with steamed vegetables and they are very money hungry for tips during my dinning experience i had to get up three times because they forgot something in my order and they just kept forgetting to come to my table so when it came time for the bill i was going to pay card so I actually could tip with cash but then they told me it was cash only and i only had enough to pay the bill with two dollars left over at first i did not want to tip because of the bad service but i just decided i wouldn’t ask for change as i went to get my stuff a staff member walked by the table looked at the table than walked towards the front and spoke to another staff member in Cantonese and that staff prevented me from leaving and asked me where was my tip for serving me food and then i told him respectfully that the two dollars in change i didn’t ask back for was the tip and he got angry and said that was not enough and we need more mind you he wasn’t speaking at a low volume to keep the conversation private he was talking loud and made sure people stopped what they were doing and looked at us never again

Been coming here since high school. Im in my 40s now. The wait staff is always on point and have a great memory. Any customizations to your order, theyll take care of you. Pre pandemic, this was always the 2am spot to go eat. 17 Mott, wo hop for the win
Ive been coming here for almost 30 years. Make sure you go DOWNSTAIRS for one of the top Chinatown experiences and dishes. Dont let the appearance fool you, thats what the best chinese food spots look like and youre missing out if you let that stop you. The service isnt great...but thats not what you come here for.
I used to come here back in the day. In my head, it was amazing. Its still good, but not enough for me to wait on line for 30 minutes. Not mad, just have no reason to do this again.

Both on street level and down a steep flight of stairs to the cellar - this is classic old school Cantonese restaurant of the best type. Signed dollar bills and other momentos left by happy diners adorn the cellar walls. Go to the cellar - its great. Really wanted to love Wo Hop after reading affectionate reviews by some of my favorite NYC Chinese food writers. Plus despite having lived in China I sometimes miss the old-fashioned American-Chinese comfort food of my childhood. Enjoyed the divey basement atmosphere and professional servers. BYOB policy was great, allowing us to enjoy good wine, which many old-fashioned Chinatown places still don’t sell. Veggie fried rice noodles were pleasant enough and happily tasted of ‘wok hei.’ Egg foo young was passable, though it would have been better if the sauce came separately so it could be poured on CRISPY egg foo young. Instead the dish had the limp consistency of oily baby food since the kitchen dumped a ton of gloppy gravy on top well before serving. Our other two dishes, which came highly recommended, were dismal failures. Salt & Pepper scallops were deep-fried to a dry, tasteless death. Fried whole flounder was unfortunately similar, tasting only of way too much breading for the slender fish. Unfortunately Wo Hop is woefully inferior to the many newer Chinese and Taiwanese (separate country!) restaurants led by a younger generation of quality conscious chefs in Manhattan, Flushing and increasingly around the country. Do yourself a favor and go to one of those instead of Wo Hop.
Make the trip, this is WORTH it.We walked about 8 blocks in a downpour because our teenage boy had decided this was where we were eating supper and seeing it was one of the few things that was his to control on this family trip, I wasnt about to take that away.We arrived starving and I was dripping wet (2 umbrellas for 5 people left me sans cover). One of the people there (maybe the owner?) offered a t shirt they had for sale and when I declined he offered it for half price. I still declined (I wasnt really cold) and he brought one out and insisted I take it for free.Not only was the hospitality incredible, the food was outstanding!For anyone loving savory items, get the black bean shrimp in gravy, all of us thought it was incredible. Of course, so were the fried dumplings. And general tsos chicken. And steamed dumplings. Yes, it was All incredible. It was even incredible the next night.It IS cash only (or was), but they do have an ATM.Tldr: This place is amazing, Please eat here. It makes me sad to think people will miss out on it.
Old school Chinese restaurant where the food does the talking. Had shrimp fried rice,Hunan pork and Squid with scallions and ginger. All were amazing and reasonably priced.
My grandfather used to take my dad here when he was little in the early 60s. Unfortunately they’re both gone now but coming here makes me feel connected to them. The staff here is so nice!! Our server was so wonderful to my boyfriend and I. We got our food out quickly and he even brought us a sharpie marker and tape to add our own Wo-Hop note to the wall.I’m normally hesitant about Chinese food because of my sensitive stomach but the food here is fresh, delicious and not too greasy! Hours later and I don’t have a stomachache.We had an awesome cheap lunch and ate so much we weren’t hungry the rest of the day!! I even got a souvenir tee shirt on the way out. Wo Hop is a classic NYC staple that needs to be supported after the pandemic! I can’t wait to take my own kids here one day!!

Been going here for about 20 years. Best Chinese food in Chinatown in my opinion. And very good prices. I highly recommend the steamed or fried dumplings, wonton soup and my personal favorite, roast duck lo mein. Staff is always fast and courteous. Outside heated dining available.
Aug 3, 2021: we eat at this restaurant regularly when we were still living in NJ; and every time we visit the city which is about once a year. First time post COVID after 2 years. They have added outdoor dining on the sidewalk. We were lucky they had razor clams in black bean sauce. None for 2 weeks when we called day before. Also pan fried crispy flounder but a bit salty. The pork fried rice had too much soy and salty. Noodles chicken chow fun was very good. The waiters are younger and friendly unlike the older veteran waiters from before. I guess they retired during pandemic. Will keep coming back.Val from Florida

First had Wo Hop 40 years ago when a friend of mine ordered delivery up to 81st and Fifth Ave. Coudnt believe they would go that far (dont know if they still do). It was amazing then, and it still is. Go there every time Im in the City, without fail. Only get there two or three times a year, but I never miss a trip to Wo Hop. The string beans are amazing, as is the shredded beef. Clams with black bean sauce are also off the hook.
Wow hop is the best Chinese food in Manhattan and I travel all the way from Brooklyn for years since I was a kid everything is wonderful to eat the guys serve you fast its fresh they make other Chinese restaurants where you live in the dust when it comes to quality food there the best in the world to me I could eat there 4to5 times a week great dumpling fried. Rice you sit in there and the service is impeccable so enjoy and you wont regret it .

DO NOT RECOMMEND.I was excited to try Wo Hop because Chinese food is my home cuisine and it seemed to have good reviews. However, I can say that the food has been westernized and is poor in quality. I got the yang zhou fried rice and their supposedly charsiew that was the roasted bbq ribs and both were so dry. The meat was tough that it felt more like jerky. The only good thing was the portion size that somewhat justifies the price. Disappointing.

The only thing I dont like is that they give you dry ribs...it doesnt come with sauce which is weird. Other than that, everything is great. Ive been coming here since 2017 & any time I fly into NYC, my first stop is here
Have been going to Wo Hop for 30+ years and the food never disappoints! The servers have it down perfectly, getting people in and out to minimize waits. Now if only they would take credit cards like every one else does now. Regardless of cash only, I’d never let that deter anyone from coming.
We ended up here by luck. 2 other restraunts we previously planned on going had long wait times, so we decided to stop in after one of their employees sat us within 2 min. Wow! The experience awesome. We had to walk downstairs off of the street and the restraunt was slightly larger than our hotel, but it had so much character. The food was fresh, tasted amazing, large portions and inexpensive. We were thoroughly impressed and will def come back!

Growing up so close to Chinatown, Wo Hop was basically a birth-right for us! No matter what or when, there was always a reason to stop into Wo Hop. Working in the newspaper industry has its disadvantages however, it has lots of perks too!! Yes, working till after 3 or 4am, doesnt sound fun. Knowing that Wo Hop is ALWAYS OPEN, even at 4am, seemed to turn into another level of this right-of-passage. After a long night printing the next days news, wed always love to walk in and have the entire downstairs room to ourselves. I know... only 3 stars? Well, as the food is great, its actually not even among the best of the best Chinese restaurants/food in Chinatown! So, 3 stars is a good representation of the food and service, especially after 3am. However, the lasting memories and good times had by all involved with these early-morning feasts. Many laughs had by all! Including the staff! They always were happy to see us newspaper guys... something Ill never forget!! Good friends, with above average Chinese cuisine and a lotta awesome times! WO HOP FOREVER!!

Been coming here with my family for over 20 years. My grandparents have been coming here for over 40 years. The best American Chinese food in NYC. Ask for Danny or Sam for the best service although all of the staff is great. Fastest kitchen you can find.

Visited Wo Hop with my wife and daughter and ordered two dinners. Both were way too salty. We waited about one hour to get in and the people in front of us were telling us how much we are going to love the food. Unfortunately, the meal did not live up to expectations. I have been to many Chinese restaurants and this was not very good.Also, you have to share tables in cramped quarters. Fortunately, the brother and sister who shared our table were so friendly. The restaurant also looks like a run-down cafeteria.I would say to skip this place. There has to be better in the area.

The service was quick and the server was friendly. The chicken lo-mien was good, but the hot and sour soup, steamed dumplings, sezchuan fish, and chicken kung pao were not good, Very bland.
Very small place the food is incredible! Been going to this place since I was a kid! Cheap and good size portions. There is usually a line outside the door but it’s worth it. Be patient because the food is GREAT! Highly recommend
Best late night drunk Chinese food in NYC.
Ate here a few weeks ago (outdoor). While it was cold outside, the waiters were so attentive by making sure we had hot tea and were super quick and attentive with getting food out. Everything was delicious (try the singapore noodles). Loved this place
Definitely a place to stop while visiting. Great amount of food, great taste, great serve. The only down side is the amount of room avaiable and the wait to be seated.
We went there for takeout 3 times since the pandemic started and the food isn’t the same. Been going there for 30 years and sad to say the quality of food is no where near what it use to be. The won tin soup is different. The egg rolls and the old fashioned chicken chow mein ideas terrible. The beef and snow peas in oyster sauce terrible too. After consistently praising Wo Hop for over 30 years I can no longer praise it. Sorry.

I found this place in a really outdated paper travel guide when I first visited NYC back in 2012? I made a point to return on my next subsequent visit the following year... And Ill make a point to do it again if I should ever find myself in NYC. I love the underground diner atmosphere this place has. The food is also very on point and vastly superior to any generic takeout place.
Still as amazing as I remember from 20 years ago! Small place, has outdoor seating. Food comes out fast & never disappoints! Large portions always have leftovers!
Great food, great service, and reasonable prices. Went for takeout after hearing good things from friends and was not disappointed. The blue crab was excellent, as were the wonton soup and salt and pepper fried pork chops. Will definitely be going back.

Very disappointed. Ordered take out, $90 worth of food and was not impressed. Maybe it was the ride back to Jersey, but the food wasnt very tasty. Maybe the dine in experience would have been better.
This restaurant has an incredible reputation so I bought 3 dishes.Two were unremarkable but the shrimp with lobster sauce was the best I have had, though in every other restaurant the shrimp portion is 6 jumbo and here I received 4 jumbo.

There was no better way to say goodbye to 2020 then with the best chinese food in NY! We ordered Sweet & Sour Shrimp - they shrimp were HUGE with pineapples and pickles! who would have thought pickles! but delish! Best egg rolls I have ever had. EVER! Beef lo mein, the beef was so tender. The boyfriend got sesame chicken and loved it too! Will def be back again but maybe in a few days because the servings are huge and we have enough leftovers to last us at least 2 day! Thanks for letting us end 2020 on a high note!

This restaurant is the one I like best. I eat in a lot of restaurants but here I constantly return again and again. The team is very friendly and the cooking they offer is so delicious. I never miss an opportunity to have a nice dinner in this restaurant. I recommend this place with pleasure.

Always in New York landmark, but the food has gotten worse. Waiter did not know the menu or the ingredients as I asked and we ordered things that we did not want because of this. My wife was been here 10 years from Thailand was extremely disappointed

Found this place one night on the town. It’s a very small eatery that you wouldn’t think would have good food but the food is great! The menu offers a variety of selections to satisfy anyone in the group. The fried rice was the best! I’ll definitely eat back for some Chinese food in the future.

I got the Szechuan chicken and it was not what I was expecting at all. It was very strangely breaded chicken cutlets rather than small pieces and it wasn’t very spicy. It was a lot of food and tasted fine but not really what I was expecting to receive.

You would think with the pandemic and restaurants struggling especially on Valentine’s Day restaurants would provide good food. Drove from Staten Island to get food from here as we used to love the spareribs in black bean sauce. Well.... quite possibly the worst meal ever. Wonton soup was rancid. Literally..... sour and spoiled smelled and tasted horrible with tons of broken overcooked wonton pieces. We both took one spoonful and threw it out and had stomach distress. The spareribs with black bean sauce were gamey and in a watery sauce ( unfortunately we got 2 orders thinking they would be like they used to be ) with literally a quarter of the container filled. A huge container filled a quarter of the way with tough old tasting spareribs in tasteless watery black bean sauce. The star of this 51$ dollar meal was over cooked young chow fried rice. Never Ever again. Such a disappointment. Used to be great.

This place was not horrible but definitely not good. One of the servers was eating while delivering peoples food, actually over their plates, yuck. Not sure how it has so many good ratings, seriously go somewhere else.
This is my third time here and still the same vicinity since I last came. The service is up to par and beyond generous portions. Food is delicious and price is very reasonable.

Some of the best, authentic Chinese food I’ve had in the city. There can be a wait around dinner time (6-8pm) but otherwise I’ve walked in off the street and sat and dined. Highly recommend.

2022-05-02Old school Cantonese style restaurant in terms of decor and food. Food is fresh and done right at a good price. Definitely try their seafood as it is stir fried really well. Dont expect to get high end offerings there but these old school chefs know what they are doing. If youre looking for the old Chinatown experience from 30-40 years ago, this is a definite try. Also great for casual family dining at a good price.

2022-02-16Located in China town this is one of the best place for food lovers. The restaurant is on the basement, soon you enter you’ll be welcomed and not rushed in ordering. All sorts of crowds going there, from tourists to locals, huge menu difficult to choose what to have.Be aware portions are massive and one dish can feed two people, in our experience all dishes were tasty and flavoursome, could order more if I could finish all that food!Staff is friendly, fast and helpful.Prices are ridiculously cheap, very good value for money.A must visit when you’re hungry!Highly recommended

2022-07-09Now this is good Chinese food. The atmosphere is weird at first as you walk down into this outdated basement with oddly colored tile. But the food was absolutely one of the best Chinese dishes I ever had - although I played it safe with what I knew. The noodles are absolutely incredible all cooked to order and you definitely can share 1 dish. Will come back here again.

2022-03-17This place is the best. Its a diner in a basement serving Chinese food, no frills. The service is great, you get good food for a reasonable price (Id say average, not cheap, but not really expensive). I really hope this restaurant stays in business for many years, because its a great joy just being there. Its just not the semi-threatening service experience there is so much of in Manhattan.

2022-04-15Absolutely the best place to stop and have a bite to eat. Go downstairs, definitely a different atmosphere. Remember a couple of rules, its CASH ONLY, food that you order is in large portions, and there is a mens and womens restrooms at the downstairs restaurant (only for paying customers). Pay your bill at the cashier. Parking is extremely limited, there are Parking garages in the area.

2022-08-11Worst Chinese food I have had.Looked past the steep steps down to the basement, the sweltering heat, the lack of airflow, the jacked up prices, wall damage covered by plastic and dirty scratched up plates because of the glowing reviews. Ordered chicken with broccoli and shredded beef noodles. Both meat tasted like they hadn’t been cooked through, both dishes had the exact same sauce just poured over and the rice was sticky & wet. My companions felt the same about their food, so didn’t bother finishing, paid and left. We even wondered if these reviews were fake. New Yorkers have too many Chinese food options and experience usually to get it this wrong.That being said, staff were really nice - they didn’t rush us, and the portions are big but prices are extra big too.Overall, very disappointed. Should have just kept walking on Mott street as after the experience we found many options some even at half the price tag. So much for the hype 🤨

2021-10-20Wow! This was the best Chinese food we have EVER had! We ordered Egg Foo Young, Wonton Soup, Shrimp Fried Rice, and a Triple Delight. Everything was incredible! My husband said, We will never be able to eat Chinese food anywhere else again!. We are from Los Angeles, so we have had our share of good Chinese food also from the Chinatowns in L.A. and San Francisco. This place, Wo Hop, is located in the Chinatown District in Lower Manhattan, and it is excellent! The waiters were very attentive, professional, and courteous. I highly recommend it.
