Wolf Creek Falls Preserve in Altamont
The trail is simple and the inclines are minimal at best. There is a spot or two that in cures water. The ability to walk through on logs is present. The ability to walk around also is present.
The trails are nice but very muddy given that it has rained a lot. The map doesnt tell you how to find the falls but we did eventually find them. We had fun just wondering around in the woods.
We used to park on the side of the road and walk in to this place along the side of the creek. For the longest time I felt like it was a secret place. It is certainly easier to get to than it used to be! I have taken a few people there over the years, all of them special to me in some way or another. This improvement has not diminished the experience. I think this is a place to come back to throughout the year - it can be so different in changing weather conditions!
It seemed like a good place for my family and dog to go for a hike to the water but we got very confused on where the trail started we saw a huge house. We followed benches to the water later on we saw barbwire underneath the snow and my dog injured her foot. Thankfullywe got her checked out she is now on the road to recovery.
The trails were marked very well, and it was a good spot for my two young kids to hike as well. However, parking is very limited.
Beautiful day, lovely snow. There is a few inches of soft snow over an underneath layer of crust. Good for booting it with traction devices, or x co skis.
We took the short hike through The preserve down and around to the creek to see multiple small waterfalls pretty easy walking nice to do with my daughter
We found the trails very well marked. Just take a picture of the map in the parking lot or down load it from the web. You cant get lost!
Very nice walk. Map is unclear as to where the waterfall is but Id you walk around enough you find them. Fine to walk in winter.
One of the best local hikes with history
Snowshoed around the big loops, lots of game trails. It was quiet and peaceful.

2022-03-08The name is misleading. It should be called Wolf Creek Preserve, as Im not sure if the dips in the Creek really count as a falls. But, that being said, it was covered in ice and snow, so maybe something really cool was hiding under there and we just missed out. The trails were nice. Saw some deer as well as coyote droppings. Would like to go back in the warmer months to get a better look.

2021-08-21Fantastic hike with lots of connected looping trails. Stroll through the woods along, and sometimes through, ancient stone walls that line the well-marked paths. Majestic views of the babbling stream and waterfalls rushing over thick slabs of shale make this a great and relatively easy hike for the whole family.

2021-05-11Small park with great little waterfalls and easy trails, and a few nice stone walls. The maps they provide are a bit confusing (the white trail looks like a service road) and there are many crisscrossing trails, but the All Trails app saved the day. The only issue is that the TMobile cell phone service was spotty at best, though the AT&T cell phone service was fine. In spring expect mud.

2020-05-31There was a detour on the road to get to the parking lot so we had to drive 15 minutes out of the way to get there. We past the Christmanns Bird Sanctuary parking on the way and the parking lot was beyond capacity.The falls at Wolf Creek are not spectacular (we went the day after a huge rain storm) but the forest bathing is still supreme. There are crawfish-like creatures in the water along with plenty of frogs. It was a nice warm day hike because it is heavily wooded. The trails are mostly loops so you shouldnt have trouble navigating.

2018-02-22IF YOU WANT A NICE QUICK SIMPLE HIKE THIS IS JUST FOR YOU. GREAT FOR A QUICK WALK WITH FRIEND. BRING YOUR DOG AND IF YOU HAVE LITTLE ONES THIS WOULD BE A GREAT WAY TO GET THEM OUTSIDE AND LIKING HIKING. NICE LITTLE CASCADING WATERFALL. THIS IS WHAT I DID X-MAS MORNING SO I WASNT IN THE WIFES WAY.

2021-11-08Well kept and marked. Took the dog and he loved it. Only tough spot was crossing the bridge which is a downed tree (tough for dog not me, its just narrow).If it has rained itll be a little swampy at spots so be prepared.

2021-07-10The trails were pretty easy and there were at least 3 beautiful pools under trickling falls. Theres not a lot of parking but that was really the only thing not awesome about this spot
