Service here was amazing! Our waiter was very attentive to our needs. The food was also amazing and the portions are big. Any sides come in a separate plate so it is sharable. We enjoyed the versatile music they played while we ate. The vibes were great! We did not reserve a table and got seated at a high table which was fine. Youll still enjoy your food!
First time in Wolfgang’s and definitely not the last one. So happy with everything the steaks the wine the service, everything is so delicious. The atmosphere was great and loved the vibe, to don’t forget to mention that they play so nice music. Our waiter Sejo “if I’m not mistaken” was very attentive and he made sure we had the best experience Can’t wait to be back again.
Very good. We did the porterhouse for 2. Steak was great. I wanted to make love to it. Apps were ok.. the baked clams could be better. The fat cut bacon is good. The steak.. perfectly cooked.. served to you sizzling. The taste was just great. Service was very good. Friendly but coat check girl.. your hot.. relax and smile a little.. or show more chest.Price is high but you only live once... cant do it every day.. and with that porterhouse... if you did it everyday.. you will only live 3 days max.I dont know if I was food drunk or drunk drunk... but I loved it.
When the most memorable part of your meal is a $10 piece of bacon you know you have problems. Possibly the worst service that I ever experienced in an expensive NYC steakhouse. My table had to stack plates to get them bussed and we never got water. One guests steak came out 25 minutes after everyone else ate.The steaks were ok for $75, and $59.The waiters are more concerned about getting your order in rsther than suggesting anything. In fact one waiter did not advise they had onion soup and only offered one choice ; chicken noodle. Also they auto gratuity your check as if you are from a foreign country.Bottom line super over priced terrible service that preys on foreigners to get tips in this noisy boring looking chain.
There really are no words to describe how wonderful the food was, the excellent service and the great time we had. I will forever be trying to figure out how to get my homemade steaks to match the flavor and tenderness of the ribeye I had. My first trip to New York City and the first night there we ate at Wolfgangs...I will never forget it.
*Make sure to check your receipt*Steak was good. Service was mixed. The first waiter seemed like he didnt want to talk and was kind of rude. But the waiter that brought out our steak was nice and helpful. The biggest problem was the fact that we were charged for a glass of wine that we didnt drink. I noticed this later at home and had to call the restaurant to ask for a refund, which they provided immediately. At first, they offered a refund on just the wine – I had to remind them that this affected the tax and tip. I dont know if they do this on purpose (maybe they think that since the restaurant gets a lot of tourists, a lot of them wont bother trying to correct them?). But in any case, it was a hassle, and I hate to think that I wouldnt have known about this if I hadnt gone through my receipts that night. I have mixed feelings about the place.Response to owner: Yes, I still have the receipt & even have an email that I got from your restaurant. This was a few weeks ago. Google updates the review date & time whenever I edit the review.
It was a nice experience for Mothers day. We also ordered bacon and seafood platter which were amazing. Especially bacon- you must order it!! Steak and salmon were also very high qualities! What I liked about Wolfgang is that they provide foods that you can utterly and purely enjoy the taste, texture, and juiciness of the ingredients!!
Ordered the Porterhouse for three and it was good. Their lobster mac and cheese was so creamy. Wished there was more lobster in it though. I thought we had to dress up because its a fancy place but not everyone was dressed up. I guess because there are a lot of tourists it doesnt really matter unless you try to wear flip flops. We made a reservation but there were plenty of tables at 4pm on a Saturday.
We had a reservation for 6:30 pm on 5/17. We had to wait to be seated, no problem. When we were escorted to our table it looks like the table was set up at last minute an in the path if all traffic. We were pushed or brushed upon by customers as well as the waiters. It was so uncomfortable. For what we paid for our meal we should have not been put through this experience.
Went here on a wednesday night and this place is almost packed but gladly we had a reservation so we got seated right away. Some servers are nice and some are not and faces were frowned when they are serving us maybe because were asians and most of the diners were white. anyway, the food was good. very satisfied and we got a complimentary dessert coz we went there to celebrate our wedding anniversary. 4 stars for the servers who served us nicely and those who frowned and gave us bad service, come on guys you can do better treat people equally.
Extremely disappointed having reserved a table at 9:30pm only to arrive at 9:37pm to be told by a rude and distracted Manager that the kitchen was closed at 9:30pm and we should have arrived on time! I have never known a “top” restaurant not hold a table for 7 mins and despite our protestation this gentleman simply told us of his long day and how hard he has been working all day. This manager needs to learn that the last customer is as important as the first customer as this customer will never return to a Wolfgang restaurant again. In an economic climate such as this in a city still reeling from the effects of the global pandemic, this is a disgraceful and arrogant attitude.
I really enjoy woolfgang steakhouse. It is Probably the steakhouse place I’ve visited the most so far.I especially enjoy this location particularly.Very clean and close to the times square. For me, steak, sauce and the side tasted so good and it is quite similar to peter luger. But as far as I remeber, waiters were much nicer!Love this place so much that I took my bf and mother few times :)Highly recommend!
No stars is still too high of a rating. My husband and I were celebrating our 5th anniversary ❤ and he booked a reservation here since it was in close proximity to our hotel, within walking distance . We walked in and seeing everyone appearing to be enjoying their we figured we would enjoy ours as well. We ordered 2 filet mignon, steamed brocolli, mashed potatoes, ceasar salads and crabcakes. The salad and crabcakes were brought out and I must say the salad was a generous portion and the crabcake was delicious. Then came the steak, the disappointment of our meal.. It arrived looking like charcoal and it was tasteless and raw inside. I sent it back and it came back not raw inside but burnt, hard to chew and still tasteless. The waiter never came back until much later, asked how was everything and we told him we were not satisfied. He said okay and picked up the steak that was still on our plate and asked if we wanted dessert. We declined and he brought the check. The manager who never once came to see why we were not satisfied visited other tables near by. Needless to say we wont be returning here ever again and I encourage you not too as well. Go elsewhere.
I had a good time at this place. I went to Peter Luger steak house several times. But I went here the first time last Friday.Because I heard about the racism issue with Asians. But I never felt any problem. The whole staff was so kind and friendly. Also whenever our glasses were empty, they filled them quicklyThe steak was perfect. And the bacon was very impressive. That was so good!! I highly recommend this restaurant.
Great spot for midtown steaks, especially if you have a slow day at work - the lunch specials are reasonable.4 stars instead of 5 because there are truly outstanding steak houses in the city (Keens, Royal 35, Quality Meats, Peter Lugers, and Old Homestead) and Wolfgang’s sits a tier below them.Outside New York this would certainly be a 5 star rating.
The food was great! The servise was bad.I have been to wolf gang stakehouses all over the place, including Waikiki and TOKYO, and the service in New York was by far the worst. They did not ask if the food was good, just formally took our order and brought our food. thats it.
This was supposed to be a special night for our 5th anniversary and we chose Wolfgangs Steakhouse due to its close proximity to where we were staying. Ill start by saying that the table we were seated at had a leaf on the table that was hanging and resting on top of my legs, Im 65, which was very uncomfortable, when I asked the waiter about it, his solution was to lift it up. This was even more uncomfortable as it was now making contact with my midsection. I didnt have room to push back because I was already sticking out into the isle due to my size. I eventually moved to the side of the table which didnt allow me to be across from my wife. Then the food came, the salad, and appetizer were fine, however the main course was a huge disappointment! The fillet mignon, which did not look like a fillet mignon, was by far the worst that I have ever had, it was dry and crispy on the edges but basically raw in the middle and had no taste except charred. After having to ask someone to get our waiter, because he never came back to the table, we explained our issues with our steaks. His solution was to put them back on the grill. We pointed out that it would dry them out even more, but he insisted that it wouldnt. Needless to say what we got back was basically an unedible piece of meat! When he finally came back to the table and asked if everything was ok, I said that I couldnt eat it, it was burned; he didnt care, he just brought the check! I am still apologizing to my wife for ruining our Anniversary dinner! Whats even more concerning is that we witnessed a manager visiting tables around us asking customers if everything was ok, not once did he bother to visit our table even after we had to send our food back. He walked by us several times, and at one point even stood next to our table holding a conversation with a group if waiters but never once looked our way. I paid my bill in full, but I definitely did not get my moneys worth! Im sorry but based on my experience tonight, I cannot recommend this establishment to anyone!
Best poterhouse steak experience in my life at the first piece of steak. Some of staff was good, but not everyone. we didnt know every side menus are serve for more than 2 persons. Most of menus are overpriced except steak.Location was nice. Interior was also good. but too noisy to fully enjoy the food. space between the tables are too narrow.
One of the most aged tasty steak I have recently had. The presentation was very “fine and chic” the steak was like a way better than I did expect. I got the small portion and it was more than enough to fill my spots. My only and big issue is the hostess, an old lady who NEVER smile, she was like grumpy, I suggest to pick the hostess for this kind of restaurant. You spend like $200 for a steak, you could at least have someone friendly to welcome you.
The menu is very similar to Peter Luger’s, so is the food. There’s a good chance I wouldn’t be able to taste the difference in a blind taste test. The food is delicious. The porterhouse, potatoes, and creamed spinach are a must.We did have a reservation and still waited about half an hour to be seated. We, then found out from the hostess that she had given our table away to someone who had just walked in. That was annoying, but I got over it once we were finally seated. It’s really all about the steak.
Lunch time snow flakes outside. Went by and went in. Emil served me. Amazing knowledge about the plates and wines. I ordered a crab cake for appetizer, was nice no more ...a bit dry , had better. THE Ribeye was perfect I requested a rare and black and that how it was served... alf bottle brunello the Montecito 2016...need 25 minutes to open but worth every second... dou ristreti and Juniors cheesecakes......Emil threw a glass of Sandman port with the check...... Frankie and Dean were on the stereo.... .best meal I had this year.thank you Emil.
Such an amazing establishment! The food is amazing, service is remarkable theres no way your guest and are going to leave unsatisfied. Haris was our waiter, hes done a great job helping us with recommendations and the food was amazing. I feel bad my sister didnt meet Haris because she like steaks!
This is a beautiful looking steakhouse. The service is on point and the food is excellent. I could see why there are multiple locations around the city. The waitstaff is very courteous and attentive. I really enjoyed Wolfgangs Steak Sauce on my Ribeye. They also serve up a very tasty Margarita. Definitely recommend this restaurant and will come again.
Best steak in New York! Came here for a work dinner and decided to share the porterhouse with 2 other guys. When it came out we were shocked by the sheer size of the steaks. We dug in and the meat was just amazing, barely had to chew the meat and the taste was stupendous.Great place for a romantic meal or for a good corporate dinner.
Went here for a 40th birthday dinner. Food and service were excellent. You should be prepared to go hungry or split some of the dishes as portions are large. Easily could have split the filet mignon with someone else. It’s about 14-16 ounces. I ate the whole thing but it was great. Cooked fantastic. By far the best cut of meat I’ve had in a while. You get what you pay for so don’t be surprised by the prices. You will enjoy yourself for sure.
This steakhouse was amazing! There was communication regarding our reservation and we were immediately sat at our table when we arrived. The service was fantastic, very attentive! The Porterhouse steak for 2 is perfect and very filling. The steak literally melted in our mouths! The sides of broccoli and potato were cooked to perfection. While it is on the pricey side, its Manhattan and well worth the price!
The food was delicious and the portion sizes were large. We had a great waiter who was very professional and made sure we had everything we needed. On top of that, the atmosphere was excellent with a large chandelier above us - providing great mood lighting. Overall, it was a good experience.
Terribly disappointed by the indifferent table service. The best service staff was a bloke only 2 weeks into the job. The rest simply showed they regretted working on new year’s eve. Overall the meats were reasonable especially the thick bacon. The steaks were burnt on the outside and under done on the inside. Temperature control was amiss. So if you are expecting 4 or more stars for your money, you will be disappointed.
Beautiful place in an unassuming location.Service was absolutely impeccable. They were there when you needed them but did not pester the table. My partner had the filet mignon and I had the grilled salmon. We shared mushrooms, brussel sprouts, and mashed potatoes. (admittedly we over did it for 2 people) The portions were larger than we could fathom, we ended up taking leftovers. But the flavors were heavenly. Cooked to perfection, not a single complaint. One of the best meals Ive had in years. We shared the cheesecake, absolute velvet, creamy perfection. I had a wonderful cappuccino (with a dusting of nutmeg I believe) absolutely a fantastic experience.Hands down when we visit the city again we will be back.
Excellent choice for a relaxing dinner. We thoroughly enjoyed the attentive, professional, and personal staff. Whenever we needed something, there was someone ready to assist. The atmosphere was relaxed, yet casual elegance. We all had the filet, which was perfect. The one thing that surprised us is the bread, which we expected to be warm. But that may just be a regional preference.
Wow! Amazing selection of fine liquors, cold beers, the steak is impeccable and cooked to perfection. Mushrooms are full of flavour! I always sit at the bar and the bartenders are very accommodating and pleasant! The atmosphere is very relaxing, modern and laid back. Definitely not your classic steakhouse decor but nonetheless still an amazing place to have a proper meal!
The server was very rude. He was sarcastic and brash. I ordered a well done steak and it came with blood running everywhere. The butter wouldnt even melt on the cold baked potato. After sending everything back, there was miscommunication about the tickets. Were from Florida where tickets can be split. We simply needed someone to explain that one ticket was the procedure. After going back and forth, no apologies for food being horrible and the hospitality was off... they had the nerve to add $22 gratuity to my ticket. We simply paid for our food. No gratuity. Worst experience in New York.
This place sucks. Waiter couldn’t have been more cold towards us, we felt rushed and not taken care of, he didn’t even ask if we wanted another drink. The food was mediocre at best, idk if I would even call it mediocre, it felt like I was eating at a local diner. Our $30 crab cake tasted like burnt canned tuna, The steak was covered in salt, the gravy tasted like it was canned. The mashed potatoes were 10000% powdered, not a trace of real potato in there and the “creamed spinach” tasted like blended grass. To top it all were not sure if there was alcohol in my boyfriends cocktail. 0/10 don’t waste ur money. For a $65-$70 steak this is unacceptable.
The mozzarella and tomato caprese appetizer was very delicious, high quality ingredients. The steaks were great, however, they could not cook a steak to well done. I understand that it’s hard to cook a good steak that dry, but it’s about the customer. If my mom wants it well done, give it to her. We asked them to cook it more, they gave it back the same pretty much, ruined experience for her. The sides were all just fine, nothing to write home about. They gave a cheesecake and tiramisu as a gift because of the well done steak fiesta, desserts were nice.
Ok, the porterhouse and onions were very good. Rioja was nice and reasonable value too.But the atmosphere is of a tightly packed, up-market cafeteria. The main reason I cant rate this above a 3* is the service. Its just sooooo cold; no empathy and refusal to engage in conversation. Its just so sterile.Payment snatched from the table within seconds of it being settled and after payment, it was clear that we should have left - empty wine glasses un-ceremoniously removed prematurely.Just not a nice experience apart from the food. But the experience is a sum of the whole, isnt it?Would I return? Definitely not.
Took a party of 11 on a Wednesday night (November 10) - ordered a variety of choices and nobody was happy with their dish. Seared tuna ordered medium came well done, sent it back, came back almost well done. Only Mac and cheese for 8 year old was any good. Most expensive Mac and cheese ever. Servers acted put out for anything. For the price you can do so much better a little further out.
VERY DISAPPOINTEDPoor service from wait staff. Sat at the table for a while before someone slung some menus down on the table and tossed two glasses of water down as well. We were not asked what kind of water we wanted. When the waiter arrived he asked for our order. We asked him to bring us the wine list since it was not provided, and that wed like to start with a cocktail. We told the waiter that we had lots of time and wanted to enjoy a nice, non-rushed dinner. After placing our cocktail order the waiter returned to get our dinner order. We told him wed like to have an appetizer first with our cocktails. We did ask if there were any specials. We then ordered a bottle of wine with our dinner. I ordered the lamb, med-rare. It came out very well done. My husbands steak was slightly overcooked as well, but not enough to send back. Soooo, while they are re-cooking my lamb, the sides are getting cold. My husbands steak is getting cold (he doesnt want to eat without me). There are the butts of waiters right next to his face through the meal (you can see how close one waiter in the photo - imagine when two are standing there - butt. in. face.) The bathroom was dirty, and in disrepair. There was icky stuff on the walls and the paint was peeling. The manager did come over and apologize. He comped my lamb which was kind.Bottom line, there seems to be an overall issue with this place - from the kitchen to the waitstaff. Not at all the level of service and quality of food I would expect.
-----------------WORST RESTAURANT EVER. --------------Firstly, very very loud. You have to shout out to talk to someone sitting next to you. If I want to go to a fancy restaurant, I would go different place.Secondly, they are rude and irresponsible.I made a Reservation but still had to wait 20m. Why would you make a reservation then?We ordered 2 different dish ( stake + other dish)------------I waited 1 HOUR and 10M Only for Stake -----------.------------They still didnt serve the side forever--------------I had to wait 2 hours to get side dish so we had to cancel while other tables who came wayyyy later than my table got their food first. The thing is no one didnt even explain what was happening.I had to ask myself what was happening but i heard was there was a mistake and sorry. That was it.Why would you spend hundreds of dollars for a place like this?I would rather donate my money to someone else. This restaurant was just the WORST.Just WORSTThat was it.
Food was pretty decent, but nothing super impressive. We had the tuna tartare appetizer which was pretty delicious. Could have used more crackers, though. For the entree 2 of us tried the filet mignon. Personally, I had the filet with mushroom. Tasted good but wasnt outstanding. Broccoli could have also used some seasoning.
Had dinner tonight and was disappointed. Let me tell you about my experience. My wife and myself took my granddaughter to see Aladdins matinee and since I work right across the street from Wolfgangs, my wife was excited about going to have dinner there. Weve been there before and it was excellent. We got there about 5:00 and were seated promptly, even though we did not have a reservation. The waiter was courteous and attentive when we sat. We placed our order and the appetizers were delicious. Since we were sharing them, the waiters should have given us sharing plates, but we were fine without them and used the b&b plates.I asked the waiter if we could get the hamburger for my granddaughter and he said thats not a problem. My wife and myself ordered the ribeyes. When the entrees arrived, one of the ribeyes and the burger were overcooked. I ordered a medium rare and it was closer to medium well, tough and chewy, not what you would expect. My wife asked for medium and hers was correct. I was so disappointed, that we switched steaks partially through the meal, so at least we were able to eat. Mind you, during all this time, the waiter never came over to the table and ask how our dinner was. Most steak houses make sure the temperature is correct at the time its served or moments after....My granddaughters burger was overcooked, grainy and dry. When one of the servers came to clear the table, I told him how disappointed we were and he said he would let the manager know. Mind you, we havent seen our waiter since the apps went down! I asked for the check and then finally the manager appeared and offered complimentary desserts. I told him I appreciated the gesturebut no thank you.We go to a steak house, for steak, for free dessert. A free crème brulee doesnt take care of the issue. The steaks were inconsistent and the quality was lacking. Being in the business, I understand there are issues with the purveyors and quality. The unacceptable part, is that the service staff, from top to bottom, doesnt do their part.
My boyfriend proposed to me here. Wonderful atmosphere and the food was very delicious. However, my now fiancé had called ahead and asked for help with proposing and seeing if a staff member could take a picture of him popping the question. He saw waiters taking pictures, and we have never received them. We had each called about 3 times to get someone to send the pictures to us. They always said “they would look into it and call us back”, we never got a call back. So I kept calling. They claim no one took any pictures because they weren’t asked to. My fiancé had specifically called and made that request and even spoke to the manager prior to us arriving. Sadly, we never got any pictures of our special moment thanks to Wolfgang. Also service was slow, definitely overpaid for the service we got. 😕
The service was great, but you don’t pay the amount of money spent here for the service. The food was horrible. I ordered my steak medium, it came to my plate still breathing. Entirely red/pink middle, raw. I couldn’t use the utensils, I grabbed the steak and tried my absolutely hardest to break it apart with my jaw. I had the steak fries, they were ok, but fries like that I could’ve gotten better at a diner. I also had the lobster bisque, it was atrocious. It was like drinking straight from the ocean. Extremely over salted and no flavor. Although it did have generous chunks of lobster, it didn’t help. Overall, don’t waste your money here, go anywhere else for steak BUT HERE.
Eat here now! $29 rib eye lunch cant be beat. (Ask for one that doesnt have blackened seasoning.)Ate lunch here in March 2022, on St. Pats day, and was sadly disappointed. For a change I ordered lamb chops. My guest had the filet mignon. My other guest had the salmon. Various sides were good as always. Service was still top notch, but the mains were strictly A&P. Supermarket all the way. The schlag(whipped cream) tasted more like ready whip. Ive been eating here for 30 years for both lunch and dinner and have always been satisfied. I hope that this was just an aberration, but I was sadly disappointed. Hope they get act together. Now only 2 *.
Even though I arrived just 10 mins before the kitchen closed it was one of the best steaks and overall dinners ever! I chose the NY Strip (in NYC) and it was a wonderful cut prepared to perfection! With a side of grilled asparagus and a hearty malbec, this was an entirely satisfying event instead of the quick in-and-out dinner I originally planned. The steak was presented bone on the side and precut and served on a hot plate With the sizzling au jue drizzled atop the first two plated cuts.I finished the night with an equally stunning cream brulee and double espresso as the perfect end to a perfect solo dinner. By the way, I sat at the bar since I dislike eating alone at a table, and the service was top shelf anyway!!!
Great food and quality but giving 3 stars cuz waiter wasnt very nice and didnt really give respect to customer. He talked to me and my gf like we dont speak proper English just because we were Asian. He spoke to us like, this is one, this is two first of all, WTF is that suppose to mean? And I asked him in PROPER ENGLISH and he walked away and came back just took our orders. WTF was that for? I got really confused and he wouldnt even response to my question with proper answer. At the end he just treated us like foreigners. That was really disrepectfuly. I serve our country as active duty military and anywhere in US Ive never got disrespect like that.
Had to come back & change my review below! Just came back from Vegas & my boyfriend just told me the restaurant charge him another $450 yesterday when we were here on MOTHERS DAY. Why are you charging again, why do you still have his card information; what kind of scam is that & to think their food was so delicious that completely changed my outlook on this place. Please beware!!!!!{Only gave it 4 stars because I wished they had a better appetizer menu & the waiter got my drink wrong. Other than that where can this restaurant go wrong, the steak was so tender & seasoned to perfection. The crabcake we received was delicious & the whole lobster was cooked really well athough it was $130 alone lol. What do you expect but it was well worth the experience pricey but I would recommend to others just make sure to have $$$}
NOT Back from the pandemic.Recently visited this famous establishment, but the experience was utterly disappointing. The atmosphere and maître d were on point, ergo the two stars, but Our snobish waiter started our a horrible and overpriced evening by rushing thru everything during the entire dinner and must have had his training at attiduesRus.we had to ask for a wine list, ask what the soup of the day was, ask for lemons that were ordered, salads came not as ordered , steaks ordered medium were delivered rare, baked potato was extremely overcooked and mushrooms were almost not cooked. Not only is the kitchen a disaster, the wait staff is incompetent. I felt like we were in a Hells Kitchen episode. This was our 3rd of 4 $500 plus meals in NYC this week and by far the worst. When I confronted the maître d , he apologized profusely , and I told him that i understand but he had some serious problems in his kitchen and with wait staff. After we finished our fairly priced incredible bottle of Duckhorn Merlot, i had to again ask for the bill, and at that moment, our waiter slung a plate with three unknown , nor wanted, desserts in front of us.I had to go ask the maître d again, what was this ? what are they? and thanks for the gesture, again ruined by the staff.Wont be back soon.
Stay away. Steaks were overcooked and one had a strong and strange offal flavor towards its center. I think I’ve been to every steak place in mid town over the years and they’re all pretty good except this one. So my advice is go to one of the other ones. This place seems like a bit of a tourist trap.
Food was great, particularly porterhouse. However, for filet mignon, it was heavily under-seasoned, and the flavor was at most mediocre. Their sides are not impressive at all; we ordered mushrooms and creamy spinach. Seasoning for spinach was largely off, and mushroom was average. Pre-meal breads were served cold, and when I informed I would like warmer batch, another cold basket was served.More important comments is on the service. Was not feeling much greeted, and service was below average. Was automatically charged 20% tip on the total, and informed I am not willing to pay 20% based on the service received. Was instructed 20% is the requirement, and on the menu or website, such information was largely missing. Even though it was half empty restaurant, it took forever for the waiter to bring the check back and charge as well. One last note is their restroom was very dirty, and was not maintained. I visited before the meal and after the meal, and condition was the same for the dirty toilet.--Wolfgang manager from Times Sq called and questioned We never serve bread cold and accused me of lying. This is a total management disaster, and also informed me that waiter automatically charging 20% is wrong, and manager himself acknowledged. At the same time, the tone of the discussions was extremely accusatory and condescending and not acknowledging wrongdoing informs the businesss attitude towards the issue is extremely apathetic.--Manager promised to follow-up but been ignoring call/texts/email, and this is the service Wolfgangs represent.
The food was way over priced, asked for steak to be medium but was medium rare and not seasoned at all. Ordered wedge salad & received only wedge of lettuce, 1/2 tomato, & chunks of ham very naked for $19. The coke was a small bottle $5. $259 dollars later very disappointed.
The experience was great. The wine selection is immense. We tried something new, our waiter recommended and it was delicious. (should have written down the name). For appetizer you got to try bacon. Main course was porterhouse and it was amazing. It was cooked perfectly. We did not use any souse as it would disrupt the flavor in my opinion. Everything from presentation of the meal to the casual atmosphere was outstanding. There are multiple locations in the city.
Lamb ribs were nothing special, three small pieces of meat for 56 bucks is definitely not worth it. The German Potato and Mushrooms ordered as side dishes (15 bucks each) were hot (actually they were just warm) on the outside and cold on the inside, which shows that they just heat the food and throw it on your plate without even trying it.Service also isnt good, waiters seem to think they are doing you a favor. It took us 10 minutes just to get someones attention to order our food, and 15 more minutes plus talking with two different waiters to get the check and be able to leave the place. Now I know for sure Im not coming back, you can find better options in NY, even for lower prices.
Excellent place, you smell the steak when approaching the establishment, then you are greeted by cordial staff who will check your coat and show you to your table. Service was snappy even though it was rather busy, or waiter was prompt, polite, and guided us through the menu. Although the variety on the menu was little, the items on the menu were pleasing. The Appetizers were delicious but not filling, and the sirloin steaks were a wonderfully prepared dish that was presented on the plate it was cooked on. The food was near perfect, but thats expected given the price range. I would certainly recommend.
Great NYC steakhouse. Make a reservation - we were there on a Tuesday night and the place was hopping. Not an extensive menu, but what they have is good. Porterhouse for two was delish. Love the bar - see if you can get one of the bar tables in the back. Not a quiet romantic place - more of a noisy, bustling NYC kind of place.
Good service during Covid, and great food! Outdoor dining was great, even if it was a bit chilly with the fall weather. My only problem was when I went indoors, there were large quantities of people dining. Normally this is fine, but it means that there were large quantities of people-- maskless. Overall, 4 stars for great food and service!!
Surprisingly below average standards of service. Dont bother to ask for an empty soup bowl as the floor manager had a peculiar rule of disallowing customers to share dishes. The waiter did try his best to explain the supervisors uncompromising instructions. The management could hv handled this better if the house rules were posted clearly on the menu.
We went to Peter Luger about 5 years ago and LOVED it. So we put it at the top of our list when we went back to NYC. Unfortunately Luger now.books months in advance and we didn’t prepare early enough. However we discovered this place was similar so we called and were able to get a table on the same day. This place is identical to Peter Luger in Brooklyn. Everything from the menu to the pricing to how the steaks are prepared and presented. We ordered the oysters on the half shell (half dozen), beefsteak tomato and onion, Porterhouse for two(medium rare), and one baked potato. We had tap water for drinks, no alcohol. This was a party of two adults and an 8 year old.Everything was excellent. The steak was perfectly cooked, the service was very friendly and quick. I’m pretty picky about my steaks and Wolfgang’s exceeded my expectations. We have no complaints. It was expensive, but we knew that going in. Our bill was $171 for two people with only tap water to drink (not including the tip). It’s not a place I’d frequent, but would visit when we return to NYC or on very special occasions. And if you’re considering this against Peter Luger then I’d just say that the quality, taste, prices, and menu are just about identical. The plus here is you don’t have to book months in advance and they take credit cards so you don’t have to trek out to Brooklyn with hundreds of dollars in cash in your pocket....
An embarrassment to Peter Luger’s teaching. If you’re looking for a slightly above average steak at an above average price in a setting comparable to your high school cafeteria, this place is for you. From the time we entered until the time we left, half way through our salads, it was clearly evident that this place is all about one thing...$$$$$. Get them in, get them out and turn that table!! Terrible experience, felt like a number rather than a guest. My wife and I both couldn’t stop laughing at the overall feeling of disrespect. Check please. Called Capital Grille from the table, made a last minute reservation and never looked back. Best decision we could have made. Capital Grille offered far superior atmosphere, service, food and overall experience. Sorry Wolfgang’s, never again. Well done Capital Grille, fantastic as usual!!
This place is a joke. The food is great but definitely NOT worth the price. Just because its in Manhattan does not mean anything. The manager would sit at a table with two other people, spying on the customers and when he sees something he doesn’t like-he sends a female front end worker over to tell me to remove my hat-twice. $300+ for 3 steaks, asparagus and mashed potatoes. I’ll wear my hat just like another female did-but you left her alone.
Great steakhouse and delicious menu options to choose from.Very nice and very clean. The porterhouse with shrimp cocktail and German potatoes to compliment it is remarkable. One of,if not the best steakhouse in the entire CITY!!!White tablecloths experience and fine dining at its finest.Ribeyes are great but I prefer the porterhouse hands down.Cream spinach is wonderful here also and please remember to make a reservation so your guests and self do not have to wait when hosting family or friends to a night on the town.Service is prompt and the servers and every member of this establishment was very professional and it gets five stars and one of best in Manhattan hands down!!!
Arrived on time for reservation to celebrate my 50th Birthday with my family. Wait staff ignored our table. Steak was burnt for medium-well request. They never brought our sides out until we asked twice! Then only half of them came out, so we cancelled the other sides because we had already finished our steaks which arrived 15 minutes prior. Our waiters shift must have finished, as we saw him pull off his apron and walk into kitchen. Never said a word to us. Then new waiter popped up , never introduced himself either. Terrible restaurant for a Manhattan Steakhouse! Totally disgraceful !
Most horrible experience ever. We made a reservation and when we walked to the desk there was no warm welcome. They looked at us and then looked the other way. When we were seated we felt were in some kind of mass production restaurant whereas the waiters are not interested in their customers, the food is served like it just came from a production line, and there is no nice ambience. The oysters that I ordered were bland and one of the shells was broken which you cant serve in a restaurant because the oyster can be rotten. The porterhouse, however, was extremely well except for the burned pieces. The most shocking moment to me was when a couple walked away after their dinner, thanked their waiter, and the waiter stared at the womans body when she walked down to the door. Where are your manners? The next day we had a much better porterhouse and best service at Keens steakhouse. Wolfgang, never again!
Had a bad experience at this restaurant. After taking our order they took 30 minutes to bring us some cold bread. After having been waiting another hour, we called the waiter, and he didn’t even bother to apologize or anything, just said “it’s coming now” and then we had to wait another 10 minutes for our food. When they finally brought it, they asked if we wanted some parmesan cheese with our pasta, to which we said yes. No one came back with that cheese. There were 3 tables that came way after we did, but they left before us. We went in at 1 p.m and left at 3 p.m. The food was good, but we didn’t feel welcome at all. As if they were doing us a favour by giving us food, when we were paying for it. We left the place with a bad taste in our mouth. Not worth it.
Cannot give a positive review.First of all, was seated after about 20 minutes of waiting, even with a reservation. Frankly, at 20 minutes I consider it not honoring the reservation. This is purely and simply the restaurants fault in not having a good system in place. The design of the place is so that it is mostly glass with a steel frame. This invites echoing of any noise. Considering the amount of people there is (full on a Tuesday evening thanks to it being majority loud business groups), this place is not for serious, quiet or intimate occasions. The waiter taking our orders was quite unprofessional. He did not introduce himself and never smiled ever throughout the night. He threw the utensils. It seemed like he did not want to give us the time of day. Maybe he was pissed that we didnt order wine, but not everyone is always in the mood or health to order wine. Nonetheless, this is, of course, not professional behavior. It took him forever to take our orders for food and for dessert. When we were done, it took 15 minutes for him to get our check and another 15 minutes for him to take the card. Another waiter who actually served our food and cleaned up for us (what a confusing system!) was much nicer, but at that point the damage was already done. The food was decent, but I wouldnt say it was anything special compared to other places Ive been to before. Taking into account price, its not worth it.So overall, cannot recommend unless you want to be stuck in a loud, packed restaurant with unattentive, if not rude service from a restaurant that does not honor your reservation. You are better off taking your business elsewhere, and you have plenty of choices in New York.
Recommended to us and not disappointed at all. Armin was a great waiter...he steered us toward and away to/from things. steak and sea bass were done perfectly. sides were plentiful. The seafood platter was actually enough for dinner, but we couldnt stop there. All expectations were met thru the dessert. The dark chocolate covered pistachio ice cream was superior. Full marks to Wolfgangs.
Let me start off my saying fabulous!I had a client dinner I was hosting and after reading the negative reviews about bad service I was a little hesitant. The were absolutely false! The manager and waitstaff were pleasant and attentive. The food was delicious. Steaks melt in your mouth! Great experience that will make me sure to go back.
Went to lunch with work folks. No gluten free menu or options. Asked if they could do rice and beans because they have rice on the menu and beans are a staple in any good restaurant. Nope. If it was not on the menu already prepared, they couldnt do it. This is NYC, right? Ridiculous. Had to have a salad and a baked potato. The salad was fine, the potato was underdone. Would never recommend this establishment.
This is a solid steak place where you will find tasty and quality meat always. The service is good even when it is busy. They have a bar area where you can warm with fine wines and whiskeys before going to the table. It is close enough to bus terminal yet far away from the tourists. Pricey but absolutely worth it.
The location is not good. The restaurant is extremely loud because they crowd as many tables as close together as possible in a location that was meant to be a lobby. You can barely hear the person sitting next to you and your chair is hitting the person behind you because the tables are so close. The waiters are arrogant and act as if it is our privilege to be there. The steak was average at best. They make up for taste with massive portion size that no normal person could eat.
I am a 66 year old male New Yorker and my age appropriate girlfriend and her youngest son (24) and his boyfriend (30) had a pre-theatre dinner at this Wolfgangs location on December 22, 2017. I had last eaten at a Wolfgangs at the 33 Street/Park Avenue location about 6 months ago and had been very satisfied. Unfortunately, we were not satisfied on December 22. The service was mostly good except that my alcoholic beverage did not arrive until the after the appetizer and only because I grabbed another waiter; our waiter not having been seen since he took our order. Also, after we had placed our initial order, we decided that we should also order a baked potato. However, because our waiter had disappeared, I had to give the order to the same waiter I grabbed to locate my drink. Matters only worsened. We had ordered Porterhouse for three, medium rare. I do appreciate that a Porterhouse for 3 is a large piece of meat. But a steak house should be able to cook the meat evenly. Parts of the steak were bloody and other parts, far too many, were medium and in some cases well done. The entire steak should have been medium rare. In addition, the steak did not have the melt in your mouth feature that you expect from a prime piece of beef at a normally top rated restaurant. As NYC is not lacking in high end steak houses, I will think twice before dining at this location again.
The food and the service were excellent. My two daughters and I shared a porterhouse steak for two and it was perfectly cooked, flavorful, and was enough to share among the three of us. My wife had the Chillian Seabass and she loved it. We finished off with a couple of desserts and they were equally good.
Excellent food and service. Have never had a better filet than I ate at Wolfgangs on 41st St. It was cooked perfectly with an incredible amount of flavor. I compare it to every steak I have had on the west coast, and they just dont come near the quality and flavor of Wolfgangs.
I went to the restaurant with my parents but server was really disrespectful to us. He was literally throwing plates on the table. I asked him to bring napkins more than 3 times. He did not even come back to the table to check after the steak is served. Who would like to pay over $300 for poor service from this kind of established restaurant? If you are a tourist or celebrating with family, please avoid this restaurant!!! unless you want ruin your day paying over $100.
Were in for the weekend and want a Really Good steak dinner. Was quite disappointed. I ordered the ribeye medium, had to much fat all through it and not much flavor a little on the tough side. More of a $25 piece of meat than a $53. Ive had a better steak at Texas Roadhouse. My wifes had a fillet medium well, was butterflied but was more to the well side and also little tough. My son had the fillet also but medium, very thick. Crusty on the outside to burnt and so raw in the middle that it was deep blood red. The waiter was attentive but took the drink and food orders together. When serving, he offered fried onions to me and I refused and he asked Why not. I explained that I dont like them. Im sorry but I shouldnt have to explain my likes and dislikes. And in that time he dropped a spoonful on the table corner which he cleaned up with his hands. Never came back to ask how our steaks were. Either he was having a bad night or it was just a off evening. The atmosphere was good, just not the experience I was hoping for.
Filet mignon and ribeye are amazing! Ive been twice now, and the food is always cooked perfectly as ordered. Its not cheap, but its worth it. Portion sizes are huge. Only issue Ive had is that the waiters seem to ignore my table a bit too long, even when I try to get their attention. Id recommend getting a reservation. It was full even on a weeknight when I went.
Subpar in food and service. Ordered all our steaks in medium rare: both of our ribeye steaks were burned outside and rare inside, New York sirloin is medium, porterhouse is all right. The meat are not well marbled or juicy compare to other NYC steakhouse I have been to. The waiter that started with us, ignore us for most of our service and we were served by a few others, then he reappear at the end with our check. There seems to be a manager running around (talking to the staff), but never asked us how we doing. (We are still not sure if there is a designated waiter for our table, not what I expect from fine dining.). Our water glasses were empty for most of our service; we have to ask for water. After the first alcoholic drinks for our table, our server did not ask us again if we need another. After taking our order for dessert, our waiters did not ask us if we want coffee. The tables are very tightly packed in. In my opinion, there are many much better steakhouses in NYC to choose from. I will be going to those others next time.
Really unpleasant experiment here. Think that it was very unfair. I booked at 7, but they said I have to wait for a moment, but I waited about 20mins more. Also It takes 10 more mins that I ve got menu. Furthermore server didnt see us when we call them everytime, and when they gave me menu and dishes also very rude. Food is great. But service is terrible ever in my whole life in the most famous steak house in nyc
Exceptional experience. Indulged in many of there menu choices, from the Seafood Platter and Oysters, their Wolfgang salad, and the infamous Porterhouse for Two, sides included Steamed Asparagus and Spinach, as well as a rich Lobster Mac and Cheese, all with delicious wine to accompany it all. It was truly a delightful atmosphere, felt classic but in a very modern space. Nothing was out of place, everything perfectly tended to, professionally delivered. A must go if youre in the area!
Came here with a friend to try out the steak. We shared a porterhouse and bacon strips and shrimp cocktail and oysters. The cocktail was good but I dont think it was good enough for the price. The oysters were also pretty good. However the steak was amazing. They cooked it with butter and deliciousness. I must try this again.
Arrived for a late dinner reservation and clearly this restaurant is too snotty to put customer first. I got rushed into making an order although my reservation was for 11pm, I even arrived 10 min early. Kitchen is closing in 5 min the guy barked at me. I made my order for a rib-eye medium-well. It came soon enough, in fact too soon. The steak was more medium and rare than medium-well. So this too they rushed probably because “the kitchen was closing”. I was too tired to send it back and too pissed I went to such a lousy steak house. I ate what I could which was half of the steak and left most of it. The waiter didn’t even bother asking whether I liked it or not having left half of a $60 steak uneaten. He didn’t care. Don’t come here. There are plenty of steak houses with better meat and definitely service.
We came here with high expectations but unfortunately had a bad experience. Party of 6, got automatically added a 20% tip, though the service was terrible. They surely knew we wouldn’t leave more than 10% so forced the 20 reserved for reasonable service on us (the menu speaks of 15% or 18%, can’t recall, for parties LARGER than 6). We didn’t want to fight as my family was feeling very uncomfortable and wanted to leave. Probably because we are foreigners (and felt like that during the whole meal as the server even refused to make small talk). The steaks took around 30 minutes to arrive and then we were rushed out of the place. My dad was still eating the last remaining fries when the server came running and took his plate (he tried to say no but couldn’t as he doesn’t speak english). This was around 10:58 so the place wasn’t even technically closed. The food: my steak was alright but my mom’s and dad (they ordered well done) was dry and basically charred. The mashed potatoes were a very small serving. My sister ordered a coke (it was somewhere around 5 dollars) and it was the small 8 oz one, not even refills. For all those reasons I’m giving this place a 1 star review, and will tell everyone that wants to spend 300+ on dinner that they can get much better value for that price.
Food was great..Service was piss poor. My party was the only black couple in that part of the restaurant and were practically ignored. Had to ask other servers to send our server over to the table. It was my 50th birthday and it affected the atmosphere of celebration. I even emailed them to ask for a call concerning my experience and no one even acknowledged the less than great experience.
I have been to this restaurant a few times and the food is always good. Love the one in Beverly Hills as well. Steaks are always great and the sides are awesome. Nothing like their German potatoes. Also had a great wine list. The problem is the service, specifically up front. We had 8 PM reservations for a party of 4. Checked in at 7:55 and were told it would be a few minutes. It was very crowded at the front. The layout has the hostess stand right up against the door when you enter and the bar directly (6 feet) in front of the hostess stand. Not a lot of room and on this night the bar was very crowded. I hovered near the hostess stand and was told to leave and wait in the bar area, I will come get you in a few minutes. I checked in with her a few times between 8 and 8:45. Was told, in a bothered tone, that I would be retrieved when the table was ready and it would only be a few more minutes. While at the bar we were shoulder to shoulder with a bunch of strangers and had to swim through 5 rows of people at the bar waiting to get drinks just to get our own drinks during our 50 MINUTE wait for a table. It was a little embarrassing as this was a client dinner. At 8:45 we started Googling for other locations when 4 seats at the bar opened up. We decided to have dinner at the bar. As soon as we sat down the hostess approached and said, we could not sit there if we were going to eat in the dinning room. Our table would be ready in a few minutes...just like at 7:55.We ended up eating at the bar. Bartenders were great but would not go back with intent to sit in dinning room. Management - IF YOU DONT HAVE THE TABLES, DONT TAKE THE RESERVATIONS. IF SOMETHING COMES UP, TELL THE GUEST IT WILL BE 45 MINUTES SO WE CAN MAKE AN INFORMED DECISION.
Not much bad things to say but the steak and sides are delicious. Cajun Ribeye was delicious. The right amount of Cajun kick to compliment the steak. The fudge cake was creamy and delicious. I would go again. Just make sure to call ahead to make reservations during lunch. It gets packed.
I love eating at Wolfgangs. Their steaks are fantastic! They also have the best french fries, make sure to get an order. If you like bacon at all then you must try their Canadian bacon appetizer, its a 1/4 thick cut of amazing pork belly. My favorite part of the experience though is the wait staff. These are true professionals that know what theyre doing. You most likely wont see anything written down, just listening by the staff. We have annual dinner here with 10 - 20 people and have had the same waiter for the last 4 years and he runs most of the table by himself with a bit of help on food running and busing.
My girlfriend took me here for my birthday. She ordered the Filet Mignon, I ordered the Sirloin. Very delicious. The steaks here melt in your mouth like butter. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The service was prompt, and we were able to make our broadway play with plenty of time to spare.Definitely going back to Wolfgangs again.
One of the best stakes I have had. Has an awesome food menu, but best are stakes and grilled salmon. Booking is a must as is always full. They have many branches, so better to check and confirm bookings in the right one. A Dinner in New York at Wolfgangs is a must, if you like stakes and other grilled food.
Im traveling NYC this Christmas season (now its the 24th) from Canada and tried to celebrate good time with my wife in a local restaurant with good reputation. It was totally first time to visit a mildly formal one in the US and that was Wolfgangs steakhouse on W 41 st. The bread was not warm and tasted a little old not enough to finish a piece. Separately ordered house salad was the best and divided by two for sharing (thanks for that but you guys did nothing except that). We ordered rib eye steak and NY sirloin steak with fries and onion ring. Both steaks have nothing special tastewise PERIOD! Fries was ok but NEVER ORDER ONION RING THERE! Their cooking style for it is totally unacceptable to me. Definitely not for more than 50 bucks US each for steaks. Servers did get orders from us and refilled water once, and that was it. We shocked but gave them 18% for celebration.. do they deserve that? I very much doubt that. This is pretty much my first formal restaurant experience in the US and must be gonna be the last one in my life. :(
My husband and I had a dinner reservation here last Sunday with tickets to see a jazz show afterward. We felt rushed and put off from the moment we sat down. Our waiter was terse when we asked about wines by the glass. Another waiter came by and asked for our order before wed even gotten our drinks. We had an appetizer and wine and then closed our tab without ordering dinner. We just couldnt bring ourselves to spend $200+ for that level of service.
The food is great but the service is not at this location (Midtown, next to the New York Times building). It felt like the waiters were doing me a favor and werent very happy to answer questions. The bar service was very good, though. Ive been to the Wolfgangs in the Financial District and had a much better experience.
We were a party of 6. Our host ordered for us - said the steak would be Life changing . Well I dont know about that, but it was a very very good rare aged porterhouse and the sides were wonderful - German potatoes and creamed spinach. This place is not cheap, and there is really no atmosphere, but the food was amazing.

2022-07-22The original charm of Wolfgang’s steak has been replaced by a small steak house chain like feel. While the food quality was excellent, the service was solid, it’s become just a steak house… that old world $50 steak on an empty white plate and if you’d like a side add another $15… great for a real meal before a broadway show or an expense account dinner. Would you like protein on your Caesar salad at dinner can’t happen. You order the salad and you order your protein… during lunch it’s no problem but dinner?!? No sir.

2022-05-14The food and atmosphere were excellent. My family visited different branches every anniversary, but it was our first time here. Its near the tourist attraction, so its a different feeling that I can feel. Are we just being sensitive? It was a weekday and there were no customers waiting, but they were in a hurry. I needed more relaxation than speed, and I just wanted to feel the atmosphere..

2022-01-29Try the bacon since the owner worked at Lugers. Atmosphere great, service great, portions generous, food really really good. Went with some friends and had the bacon, shared the porterhouse (medium rare), mashed potatoes, mushrooms and onion rings. My only negative comment is there were leftovers and the waiters never asked if we wanted them to be wrapped up to go. Somewhere disappointed considering the prices.

2022-05-15Certainly a great steakhouse! My wife and I both had the Filet Mignon, and loved every bite! The attention to detail is unsurpassed, the food is 5-Star, and the staff (many from Montenegro) made us feel welcome and right at home. They have a great wine selection and the filets were truly melt in your mouth quality! The restaurant is well-worth a visit, and a favorite of the locals. I hope to come back soon!

2022-05-26No service at all. We went to try out the steak there. We ordered a steak and an appetizer since we thought they were enough food for us. However the server was not happy, I’m not sure if he’s not happy with us not purchasing more (these 2 dishes already cost $170+) or he has other reasons that he doesn’t want to tell. He didn’t want to watch us when he’s talking, didn’t bring breads until we asked, and didn’t figure out we were ready for check while passed by many times and busy with other stuff. For restaurants where people have to pay this much $, they should provide same level of services, but at here you only got garbage. Very disappointed!

2021-12-12Located in Times Square vicinity, this is the closest decent steakhouse to Dave & Buster, and Port Authority Bus Terminal. They stay open till 11pm, so convenient for a late dinner, then take bus back to NJ. Even on busy weekend nights, chances are you will get a table.Being in Midtown, they have a short but very expensive menu. There are few individual steak dishes, but they also provide combo, that comes with mix of different type of meat. Their sea bass and lamb chops are pretty good too. We were little disappointed with the side dishes of Asparagus and Brussel Sprouts. Those lacked flavor, seemed it was just booked in salt water. We had a good service. Our server suggested us an excellent wine that complements the steak entree. The food came out with a manageable wait time. They also made a special side dish for the 4 year old at our table.Even though it doesnt stack up to the best of steakhousea in the city, it a decent option when your are hangry and want some steak for dinner! Prepare yourself to drop some bucks!!

2022-04-14Truly a world-class experience. Such a wonderful atmosphere to enjoy an exceptional meal within. A dinner experience that will not be soon forgotten.NY Sirloin was amazing. Friendly and professional service all around. $20, 12 year-old whiskey was as smooth as youd hope.

2022-02-20The food was great and the dessert was better. We had the filet mignon and the ribeye, with creamed spinach, German potatoes, salad, and pecan pie! $200 with two people no tips or drinks included.

2022-06-02Ate at Wolfgangs Times Square location today with two friends that I havent seen in a while. The food, drinks, and service were top notch as usual. Wolfgangs along with Keens are my two favorite steakhouses in NYC. Food wise each Wolfgangs location is consistent, decor wise the Times Square location is definitely the best.
