Ray and I have had a cottage here since 2011. We cant say enough about the interesting, productive residents, the caring, innovative staff, the extensive range of activities, the all inclusive menu, the physical setting in Mill Brook Preserve and the picture postcard view of Skytop and the Shawangunk Mountains! We are fortunate to have discovered this CCRC.

My mother is a resident in the skilled nursing facility. She started in independent living and medical issues necessitated her move to skilled nursing. Our family is so thankful that mom was a resident at Woodland Pond and that the continuum of care transfers worked exactly as we hoped and needed. Staff are extremely attentive and truly care for their residents. As a nurse, am constantly impressed by the care and caring provided by the staff.

My mom is currently in the skilled nursing unit at Woodland Ponds for rehab services. She suffered a stroke at the end of October and has been at Woodland since January. My family and I are so happy with the rehab services that my mom is receiving. Everyone there is extremely friendly and helpful. The unit is well staffed with RNS, LPNS, and CNAs. The PT/OT/Speech therapists are very professional and knowledgeable. They are always willing to answer any questions at any time. The social worker at Woodland is wonderful at communicating with the family as well as acting as a liaison between the family and the nursing staff. My mother is enjoying the delicious food options there as well! We are so happy that my mother is able to receive rehab services there.

Ive worked with some nice people here and some not so nice people. The rehab team we have here is full of some great people who work hard with the family members who come through. The nursing staff works around the clock to ensure the safety and happiness everyone deserves. Id recommend working here and would recommend family members looking for rehab.

My wife and I moved here about a year ago. We have been thoroughly pleased with WP. As I sit here and look out the windows at a snow storm, and feel warm and cared for, I know we chose the right place for our retirement care. The other residents are friendly and warm...the staff is competent and caring. And we need never worry that we will become a burden to our children as we age. But mostly - Its fun!

The food was terrible and our mom lived there a year. I attended a meeting for residents about improving the food situation and they were shot down by a woman named Ronnie who ran the meeting at every suggestion or request. . I just started taking notes and when I tried to speak with Michelle who I was told was the one who could help. Michelle didnt return my calls after 4 times. The residents were afraid to complain. This concerns me. I had many residents tell me they were fearful of retaliation. We took our mother out and moved her to another facility. Some of the staff were great but they usually didnt stay. The facility itself is pretty but unless you are living nearby and can be an advocate Id reconsider. Mom is now at Valley Vista much happier although she misses the friends she made. They werent allowed to sit with their friends at mealtime. Told by Ronnie to switch tables every meal. This lady Ronnie is bad news. No one who actually prepared food attended the meeting about the food situation. Oddly staff is told they cant eat there and orders in everyday. After speaking to Michelle the CEO today the staff can take meals there if they have it taken out of their check. Well who in their right mind would pay for that food? I still feel badly for the four women who remain that expressed fear of abuse if they complained and they would never tell me what the actual abuse was. Some of them would beg me to bring them something decent to eat. Woodland Pond needs to either expand the dining room where the kitchen is or build a kitchen on the Assisted Living side. Transport of food is a problem. There isnt enough room on the Independent Living side for residents to eat their and mom says they dont feel welcomed there at all.I also witnessed someones mother cry and they threatened to put her in the nursing home side if she didnt stop crying. They called the police on the woman. 💔 I felt it was to create a paper trail that the woman was mentally ill.Save yourself a lot of money and dont send your parent there. My friends dad went there just for rehab and wanted out. We are New Paltz locals. I could back up what Ive said with other people who were disatified but in the end the family and residents loose. This is supposed to be non profit but rates go up continuously. We did not move my mom because we could not afford Woodland Pond but mom was obviously afraid to tell them it was because of the food. She liked many people on the staff and the nursing staff was good.At one point our mother fell and the put her in the Pines for rehab instead of the facility we were already paying for a Woodland Pond. We were paying for two facilities at once and they had people who were not residents at Woodland Pond occupying the rehabilitation beds at Woodland Pond. I had to go back and forth bringing moms things to her.Ann Minadeo Hiltner

Grace, my wife, had a stroke in early 2000. i was able to serve as her caregiver at home until I had a heart condition that took me out of business for a six week period. My three children, that lived with their families in Ontario, Canada, Seattle, Washington and Juneau, Alaska ,took turns coming to our home in Pougkeepsie to take care of my wife and me as well. The day after the last one went back to their own home I slipped on black ice and fractured my right arm just below the shoulder. We were not willing to put our kids families back to work for several weeks while my arm healed to where I could once again be a caregiver instead of a care receiver. At that time, April 2007. Woodland Pond was in the long process of planning and building. We signed up and after the facility was opened in September 2009 we moved in two weeks later and have never regretted the decision - nor have our three children.Grace died from other health issues in December 2011 and during the two plus years of her life here she had several hospital visits followed by rehab periods in the Woodland Pond Health Center. The convenience of her rehab being in the same building as our apartment was a big plus for us.After Grace died I realized that had we not moved here and were still living in our Poughkeepsie home, I probably would not have then moved. im grateful that i did move and was not left in an empty house. im surrounded here by two hundred plus people that are in similar circumstances and are a pleasure to dine and socialize with and the staff is friendly and are more like part of the family than paid workers..

I am an 89 years old artist and retired University Professor. Normally artists because of their personalities and space needs would not consider living in a Retirement Community. I was reluctant but it has been one of my best choices. It has given myself and my wife a new life, one we never would have had: new friends and much more. And I continue to be productive and more important content. I feel very lucky. Norman Sasowsky

Dont be fooled by the size and decorations of this place. The assisted living side is not kept up to date, the residents are treated like animals rather then humans, the nursing and waitstaff are innapropriate and rude. Ive walked into my mothers room and seen LPNs yelling at her cursing. while other residents are in the hall sleeping on the activity table which never gets used. Ive also had to tell the nurses and waitstaff what a necture thick diet is multiple times when theyve tried to give her ice cream. While on the other side is independent living, the waitstaff is a little more professional, however, all units have young kids (highschoolers) working who are more concerned with flirting then the residents wellbeing. The food in independent is good but expensive since most of it you have to pay for. However, the managers have no clue whats going on. The one manager Ronnie always seems unhappy or annoyed and unorganized. The one good thing i will say is the one manager over there Stephan? (I think thats his name) is caring and professional. All the resident rave about him, especailly my father and mother when she was in independent. He has come to talk to my parents multiple times and you can tell he really cares about the place. aside from all those things independent is a good side to retire for parents or elderly in general, however Skilled and any other assisted is not worth the price.

My husband and I moved here 5 years ago, and each morning and evening we are reminded of how lucky we are, as we watch sunsets and sunrises over the Shawangunk mountains. It is a remarkable feeling to feel so supported and cared for, while leading quite an independent life. And its wonderful to know our children no longer have to worry about our future. Nor do we.
