I am not one to leave bad reviews/ reviews unless I am really disappointed with my food. This is the worst Chinese BBQ I’ve ever had in my life. Roast Duck was raw in some parts and bloody - gamey tasting and all the pieces were extremely boney. Roast Pig was overcooked and tough on the edges. Additionally this place is overpriced for what they serve. I have had the same food with much better quality and quantity in other Chinese neighborhoods for 25% less the price. $9 gone down the drain!!!! Whack chu 🤮 Had to spit out 50% of the meat served.
There is a white-bread Chinatown and a Chinese Chinatown (East Broadway). Wus is the alpha and omega of authentic Cantonese food. The dim sum? To die for. Try the roast duck and Singapore Mei Fun. Beef Chow Fun? Never fails. Won ton? Fugetaboutit! And they actually check your vaccination card...
Ive walked by this place countless times and never eaten in. I have taken out a very good roasted duck ($28 for whole duck?).Well, it took a sombre lunch after a funeral to bring me in. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality and quantity of food for the price. We had the modified 10 course banquet. The first dish was what I call the chinese deli specialties - ribs, jellyfish, duck, etc. Most of these were delicious. This was followed by the standard soup (really bland), lobster, fried shrimp with mayo, steamed fish, whole salted roast chicken, fried rice, mushroom noodles, etc. Ending the meal was mango pudding. The food was good enough to warrant a revisit.
Just had a wonderful family reunion dinner in their covered outdoor seating area - had their whole suckling pig (skin first in buns like Peking duck but crunchier, then sliced off the bone), and a 10lb. King crab served 3 ways (steamed, fried, in fried rice). Ordered a few vegetable dishes on the side and BYOB champagne was the perfect accompaniment.
The place is nice, well decorated. Soup was in a gigantic plate but cost 14 bucks. Quarter honey Peking duck cost me $10 and was amazing on my taste buds. Customer service could definitely be better though. Will consider returning again even though the location sucks.
I would honestly give NEGATIVE stars if it was allowed. Once we waited 20 minutes to order the service was quick, food was cold. We usually tip 25/30% but the waiter was so rude from the moment we sat down to the moment we left that we did not tip at all. He did not check in to see how everything was, he had a poor attitude from start to finish of the transaction. Also, made us feel we didn’t order enough and we were wasting his time when asked a question. As soon as we exited the establishments front doors the waiter ran outside and began poking my husband in the back and demanded that he needs to fix the paper and add a tip. We felt like they did not treat us like the other customers as everyone in the establishment was of Chinese decent (we are Hispanic). To follow someone out of the doors of an establishment is unacceptable. Tips are earned based on service, not demanded. Pay attention to the front doors as it says they’re Rated a C. He made us feel degraded and like we skipped out on the bill or didn’t belong there. We have never been treated so low as we do normally tip well and this is the first time we have ever decided not to. I myself have worked in the restaurant/bar industry and own a business… I WOULD NEVER act in that manner, let alone demand something I did not earn. Think twice before choosing this place!
Delicious food, love the outdoor seating structure which accommodates several large banquet tables for groups while getting good air flow. BYOB enables fun socialization with friends. But get the hot tea, as well. Razor clams run out quickly, so go earlier if you can.
We visited Wu’s Wonton King with a group of six people and we ended up being extremely satisfied & full with only $20 per person. The service wasn’t too good and kind of rude as expected. We ordered their signature Wonton Soups, couple of Dim Sum (Shrimp dumplings, Shaomai ...etc) and 2 shared plates: Fried Beef with Scallions & Braised Lamb Stew. The food was overall decent with reasonable portion. Our favorites were the Wonton Soups and the Braised Lamb Stew. The wonton was one of the best in NYC, which is juicy and tender. The stew was cooked perfectly, the lamb was flavorful and soft. One of the best things is the restaurant allows “BYOB” and my friends told us there are great liquid stores in the neighborhood. It’s a perfect place for friends gathering.
Ok experience. They were quite busy on the Saturday morning we went and waited about 15 min for an outside table. Prices are a bit high for the quality. The steamed shrimp dumpling and the Tai Pang Rice Noodle were the best dishes. The flat shrimp rice noodle, shu mai, and steamed roast pork bun were just ok. And the fried spring roll was still frozen in parts on the inside which of course is unacceptable and when I pointed it out to the manager he just said sorry and didnt remove it from the bill or bring out another properly cooked dish, so have to ding them stars for that.
Went with a lot of people because of the BYOB policy, which i think is good for such big groups. But personally, the food was super oily and bland mostly. The wonton soup which the restaurant is apparently famous for was good. The fried shrimp and honey walnut shrimp was also pretty good. Everything else was just too bland and oily.
Have been following them on Instagram for awhile so was excited to be in the area last Sunday to cross this off my list.First off, good outdoor dining setup and pretty spacious too. Enough distance between tables. Love that they have complimentary hot tea immediately served once youre seated. We ordered the roasted pork with rice, salt and pepper porkchop and siomais. The siomais were good as well as the porkchop. The roasted pork was a little underwhelming to my surprise. So we ordered the crab fried rice as it was also a crowd favorite. It was just okay, a little bland. Secretly disappointed but maybe an off day? Service was good though so despite all that, they deserve a 4. They do work hard and aim to please.Wont mind going back to try them again another day.
This is a wonderful place to get a meal in the Chinatown area! The food was delicious! They have indoor and outdoor dining. The food was yummy! The service was very friendly! I wish I got the king crab but it serves 6 and up! Definitely good dim sum and Chinese food. I highly recommend this place!
Absolutely delicious 😋!!! Took me back to my childhood ... going to Chinatown 20 years ago on Saturdays for Roast Duck and other authentic chinese food. Happened to be driving through the area and we had to stop for takeout. Ordered the Roast Duck, Pan Fried Noodles and Fried Rice w/ Chicken. Everything was delicious and fresh. We live 40 minutes away, but will definitely make the trip there again for dinner. Highly recommend!! 👍👍👍
Lived up to the hype. Wonderful, attentive service and great food. Ate lunch here on a weekend. The stir-fried loofah gourd with sea bass was a standout, gourd was cooked with finesse to emphasize its sweetness. The Peking pork chops had a good kick of spicy pepper. Lunch prices are very inexpensive and portions are good for one plus a little extra.
Group dinner for Mid autumn festival eating outside during the pandemic. Really great that you can BYOB and they did a terrific job with the food, we had a giant 10 pound king crab served two ways… Steamed and fried. Had a variety of other dishes, salt and pepper squid, crab fried rice, veggies… Etc. I will be back for dim sum!
Good food but incredibly poor service. the waiter & manager alike were rude and had no regards for us.They refused to specify the portion size for each dish when we inquired, so we just ordered 8 dishes for the group of 14 of us. The waiter rudely told us that this was way too little food, but I said I wanted one of each dish to start off, and that we’d order more if we needed to. Turns out, he went out of his way to order twice the portion size what we requested, and when we told them, he refused to admit his mistakes and were insistent on making us pay for it all. Moreover, when the manager was brought over by the waiter, the manager told us that they’ll charge the amount we ordered only if we were to stop eating…keep in mind we haven’t even started eating a quarter of the food yet.Overall, I was disappointed to see how he poor customer the team provided: firstly, refusing to describe the portion sizes of each dish, then ordering twice the amount of food without our consent and knowledge, and lastly, refusing to own up to the mistake and attempting to make us pay for food we did not order nor eat. Please don’t come and experience the poor service we did…
Ive seriously lost count on how many times Ive bought food here. Wus Wonton King is a typical Cantonese seafood restaurant just with a Chinese carving station (Roast Duck, Chicken, Roast Pork etc hanging by the window). Ive never dined in as I usually just go in and order some meats over rice. I rotate between the roast pork, duck and chicken. Usually it would come out to $6 bucks or so depending on which meat and how many choices over a bed of white rice. Theyll throw in some veggies such as Chinese cabbage on the side. Some days youll get a free cup of soup (salt water). Food is pretty decent for the most part and the food is usually ready quickly. The guy that chops the meats is super friendly.
Ordered 2 meat choice w/ rice (roast pork and BBQ rib) and beef brisket lo mein. Roast pork was not in the container, looked like some chunks were taken out instead. It was a pick up order, I live very close by, and when I called several times, they just hung up repeatedly. Wont be ordering a pick up again. $20 spent for lunch when I didnt even get the choice of meat I wanted. The receipt shows two meats for the order though.I may go to dine in so I know what I am getting. The lo mein is very good. Reminds me of Hong Kong.
Heres foods heaven. I love this restaurant.I had Live Kingcrab and several dishes last night. We brought couple of wines because or BYOB. Live Kingcrab serve as Half steam(Garlic) and Half Fried. And fried rice comes with later. It was super tasty. Very tender and chewy. Whatever you thinking about kingcrab, its real taste. We also ordered black scallop, clam, string bean, shrimp and so on. Every dishes were very delicious. We will be back soon!
So delicious!! I must come back and try more items from the menu. Everything we had was so good!! The suckling pig was a special pre-order and the buns were really excellent! I will have to try the Peking Duck next time. The clams were super tasty, and the dungeoness crab two ways was just perfect. The sesame ginger was tangy and sweet, and the garlic fried melted out of the shell.Even as we were getting full, the fried rice came out with the chicken and we ate that as fast as the everything else. I can only imagine how everything we DIDNT try is. I will find out next time!!
A rock solid Cantonese venue on the eastern side of Chinatown famous for both wonton dumplings and roast duck. The restaurant can be crowded during dinner service but much more manageable than the popular spots in Chinatown and is still easy to get to via the F train. Food wise, it is as authentic as it gets. Their signature wonton dumplings in milky pork bone soup comes in meal-size portions (good for two if sharing) and is a must try at Wus. Leading the other department are their roast duck and chicken. The duck wasnt too fatty and the chicken was really moist throughout. Smothering them in their respective sauces is obligatory (tamarind sauce for the duck and ginger/scallion for the chicken). During our dinner, there was a long line just for take outs at the roast station. I decided to give a 5-star because of the staff and cleanliness of the restaurant left a strong impression on us during our dinner.
Probably one of the best Chinese restaurants Ive been to, in this country....Seriously. Its located in Chinatown, so you certainly have a lot to choose from. Everything here had so much flavor. We literally cleaned off every plate. We ordered 3 items; the Shrimp/Pork Wonton Soup, Seafood Chow Fun, and the Sautéed Clams. The soup is a must order item. The wonton and dumplings in the soup are amazing; and filled with so much goodness. The Sautéed Clams are incredible. Im guessing its stir-fried with lots and lots of garlic. Theres so much garlic that I mixed it into everything else I was eating. So GOOD! If you order nothing else in this place, but you get the Sautéed Clams Ill forgive you. The seafood Chow Fun was standard like most place. The great part was that the noodles were cooked perfectly. Not too hard or too soft, but just perfect. This was a lot of food for 2 people, but we had no problem finishing it all up.The restaurant is large and spacious. Very well lit and clean. The servers are very attentive. Waters were filled consistently, and they made sure to clear off every empty dish when they walked by. I think this was a standard thing they all did, because every empty plate was quickly cleared off our table. Pretty unusual for Asian restaurants.Highly recommended!!!
Classic yet with some welcomed differences, like a very friendly staff that is decidedly unlike the old Chinatown stereotype gruff staff. Underrated dim sum... very fresh and beautiful unlike the old steam cart types. Amazing suckling pig and roast pork...actually everything hanging in the window is a great version. Lots of great dishes on the menu to discover. Bone broth with dumplings is prefect. Cant go wrong here. Really solid place with quite reasonable prices on its way to becoming a Chinatown classic.
Very local Cantonese food with mostly local customers, nothing mind-blowing but food that makes any canto feel at home. Staff was friendly and the wait was reasonable. They only take reservation for big parties. The steamed fish, steamed egg (off menu), and veggies were all very good. The crispy pork belly was cold but that’s how they make it here to keep the skin crispy; I prefer restaurants that make them fresh. The soup was not cooked long enough for that flavorful taste, instead they added msg. Bathroom was bit dirty but that’s expected for this type of restaurants.
Banquet-style Canton food. The place isnt very big, but gets very busy around dinner time. The decor is bright and clean, and seating arrangement is spacious. The roasted whole pig here is so good (served Peking duck style with a bun). I also liked their loofa stuffed with seafood dish (pictured). Id recommend calling ahead for reservation to avoid waiting.
Stopped in for a quick lunch with a friend who suggested we eat here. My first time and the food is fantastic. There is not really any decor to speak of but everything is really fresh and delicious and we had a nice chat with our server Katie who was really nice and the rest of the staff was great! Make sure you have the Three Flavored Dumpling with Bone Soup which is tremendous and try some BBQ!
Really delicious Peking duck. Get one for the table and share. Saw the salt baked shrimp go by and wanted to steal a few. Menu pricing is relatively “gentle”. House wines are not horrible, better than most bars. The vibe is fun. Hipsters with knit caps, cool girls mixed with and David Chan look-alikes. Gets crowded but no problem if you arrive before 6:30 ish. F train exit East Broadway. Mid platform exit. Great staff, very efficient and friendly. Can’t wait to go back. Desert is weird looking but free. Would not bother. 😊
Same owners/partners as Sweet N Tart in Flushing, which is closed now. Ordered Triple flavored dumplings with bone soup, Dry Tofu Skin w. Vegetable Rice Roll, Pork w. Preserved Egg Congee, Beef Stew in Special Broth and Eel Special. All dishes were delicious and freshly made.Dumplings were perfect, with the skin light and the shrimp still having a snap when bit into it. Broth was not salty and not over powering the dumplings. Though wrapped in the broad white noodle, dry tofu was still crispy. Congee was smooth and not gloppy. The beef was tender enough, but still had some chew, which was perfect for this dish. Garlic flavored chicken was juicy and flavorful with the skin crisp and light. Now about the eel...the eel was very tender, with the perfect flavoring of smoke, great seasoning, but even better if eaten with rice. Although, this was my favorite dish, I was not prepared for the price of $45! All other dishes were very reasonably priced by Chinatown standards.
I just try this three variety dumpling soup for the first time, but I ask them to add noodle and I love it. The soup base is great, noodle is thin and the dumplings are delicious! There are also other great variety of great dish here, very smart for them to advertised their dish display with pictures on the wall. The place is neat and comfy. Highly recommended.
Their beef chow fun is delicious. Noodle has perfect consistency and not stuck together, and not very oily unlike other restaurants. You taste that great wok hay. Beef was cooked perfectly medium rare. Wonton roast duck noodle was excellent too. Wonton noods take a bit long because wontons are cooked fresh and not frozen. Did not disappoint. Wontons have great flavor. Duck was so good, thigh drumstick piece and many more pieces were hidden underneath. Came here around 3pm on a Saturday.
Had great dim sum and the food and service is as good as we remembered. Glad they are open and having the food in the outdoor dining area tastes better then taking it home. Bone broth wonton soup, shu mai, shrimp dumplings, congee with fish, all delicious. There were a few dishes we wanted to order but they were not available at the moment. But overall, we are very happy with the quality and taste. Its our go-to for comfort food.
Epic spot! Came here with a crowd (we made reservations) and the food arrived so fast! We got a lot of different dishes, and everything was tasty. The whole roasted pork you’ll have to order in advance. If you’re having a party, I would highly recommend! The skin is superbly crisp and the meat is fatty and tender. Yum. Another notable dish - the 3 types of egg dish is super unique and yummy too!
Excellent Cantonese spot in Chinatown. Known for the whole suckling pig, Dungeness crab, and crispy garlic chicken, this place is full of surprises. Id also recommend the pea shoots, roast duck, parlset beef rice roll, and fried dough wrapped in rice noodle. Its BYOB for wine, so certainly stop at a store beforehand and bring your favorites. Affordably priced as well. Only reason it doesnt get 5 stars is the service is terrible. You need to stay on top of them to make sure youre seated in a timely fashion.
Growing up back in Kaduna as a kid in the 80s, my grandmas older sister specialized in duck for Christmas. I havent had duck in like forever, this one here took me down almost 30years memory lane. The duck was soooooo good(you guys know I love food by now right 😋😜🤪)A bite into the Noddles at first confused me because it felt dry but when you pick it up with the gravy and chicken OMG!!!!!!!!!!!! It melts in your mouth and all the test coming together is soooo heavenly😍😍😍😍Who best to share this with than my lovely brainy neighborhood whos at Yale studying medicine making all of us proud. This place fills up really really fast and the staff are very friendly and polite. If youre looking for a place to have birthday parties this is your call. A lot of people were in here celebrating birthdays.I liked that it had access for wheelchair😊.A rest room that smelled really nice but not accessible for wheelchair☹️.
Really delicious food and also super friendly and informative service. All at a low price. That is a very rare combination in Manhattans Chinatown. We didnt do it but apparently there is no corkage fee (they have a red, white, and beer on the menu). A few tables were balling with some fancy wines that they brought in. This place rules.
This is the only place I would go for wonton soup in the city. The bone broth is super flavorful and the three different wontons are all very tasty. Their dimsum menu is great too and they have a large outdoor dining space available now. They don’t have heaters so better to go on a warmer day.
The shrimp and pork wontons in bone broth is perfection. Each wonton had loads of meat and thin, delicate wonton skins with just the right texture. On top of that, the bone broth is packed with so much flavor you can feel it giving you life. I literally dream about this wonton soup.
Nothing screams Christmas in New York like eating Chinese food. Wu’s Wonton King was no exception. It’s a busy place. Pictures of David Chang and Bobby Flay line the walls.Complimentary tea is served at every table. We ordered the braised noodle with crab meat and the beef with oyster sauce. While the beef was spot on, the braised noodles with crab meat were definitely more noddles than crab meat...as you can tell by the photo. This is not your every day Chinese restaurant, which in my opinion is a plus. However, i value service and it was subpar. They forgot one of our orders and completely disregarded us in line.
I went back to Wus Wonton King. The experience of out door dining offers a good view and chance to experience dim sum out doors. Where the food is served fresh out of kitchen. They also have the roast pork, roast duck, and pig in the window ,so you can view the same food you can also take home to enjoy. .
After walking all over CHINATOWN I found the best DIM SUM in the USA nothing compares to this place... BEST SHRIMP & PORK WONTON SOUP IVE EVER HAD AND THE REST IS HISTORY ...I LOVE THIS PLACE I WILL BE GOING THERE TILL THE DAY I DIE AND I HAVE GONE TO SO MANY RESTAURANTS ALL OVER THE WORLD BUT WUs Wonton King rules the world..LOVE IT
I went here with some friends one afternoon and had a very enjoyable meal. Really. Everything was delicious. Then I went on my own a couple days ago and ate the nastiest thing I’ve ever eaten in my life. Tripe lo mein. I’m a huge fan of tripe. Always been. Italian style, Chinese, Mexican, whatever. This was unclean and terrible. Smelled like dead squirrel. I ate it anyway. Eff it.
This corner spot we actually discovered a few years ago, but we really really love them. They have the best Peking duck at the best price in all of New York as far as I am concerned, and they do a really great job carving it up and putting them together in the little buns for you. They also make delicious stir-fried vegetables where they are super garlicky, and you really get that great wok hei flavor! Although Im a huge fan of wontons, I actually still have not had them here.
Just bec my Chinese wife miss eating some good Chinese food, we walked through all Chinatown. All the street is smelling really. We thought we suddenly teleported from Manhattan to a small town in Hubei or Hunan. We couldnt dare to sit in any restaurant on the street bec of the mess we saw in all of the restaurants. This restaurant was the last on our way. Just not to disappoint my wife I suggested her to eat there. The teapots look never been washed. The tap is tied with a dirty string. Inside restaurant was smelling terrible, the table clothes dirty. Just bec we sat in front of the kitchen door i saw inside. It was disgusting. That much dirty kitchen very common in China. But i am surprised the customers here are not bothered by this. They just eat whatever comes. Guys if u think some restaurant kitchens can be dirty little bit, i suggest u check this one. I am sure it will challenge your all tolerance limits. I stopped eating. My wife also noticed and stopped. I came to cashier to pay my bill. Dont know how but the bill was high. Didnt check just signed and i was going. She told me i didnt write tip. Asked me if i left on the table. I said i didnt leave. She said then i must write on the bill. I was so surprised. I live in the US i know there is tipping culture here and i mostly pay tip. But this restaurant was not really deserving it. So i didnt want to tip. But these guys behaved like jerks. They literally shouted at me and told me “it is compulsory in all US” with a very arrogant humiliating manner. He even told me “why you come to Chinese restaurant?” I dont know what he was having in his mind. Seems some complexes maybe. I was shocked they can be this much rude and take the point to an irrelevant issue immediately. If i insisted seems they could be more rude even ignoring the customers inside. I paid the tip and left. I know you are reading this. Tip is not compulsory, if it compulsory it is not tip. And your attitude is totally uncivilized.
Members of my party had stomach pain after eating here. We were the only black people and were being rushed to finish eating. The service was terrible and they had the audacity to ask for tip. We blatantly said we wouldnt be tipping and they kept asking...so we kept saying no. Never again.
They have horrible customer service. The server one time tried to finesse our bill assuming that we wanted some thing and added it to our bill and when it was brought to us nobody answered a question on what it was so we just zoomed it was extra food for another thing. And then when we got our bill we had an extra charge of $45 on there. And when we try to explain to them and they just denied it and assumed that because we had a big family we wanted it. Would never recommend this place to anyone!!!
If you want to go inside a store and grab a takeout, avoid this place at all cost. No service to customers who just want to order a couple dishes over the counter. Will give preferential treatment to old customers and even let them skip the line over you without so much as an apology. Waiters and the lady at the register will stare at you blankly and not take your order. Honestly f this place. Overprice trash food.
Came here to have a nice dinner when we asked for straws for our drinks the server just walked away from our table then we asked again and with attitude we got some straws after when we ordered our food we asked for some hot sauce and again with attitude we got some but wasnt the one we asked for then we asked another server for a different hot sauce and asked for more and once again with attitude received it. After when we got our check I didnt add a tip because I believe a TIP is for good service and that was not at all good service. A server came over as we were going to leave and stoped me to ask me why I didnt leave a TIP and I explained exactly why and he walked away as I was telling him. Never recommending this place to anyone EVER. Horrible service and I felt really rushed to order and to leave.
The food was good. But I am not satisfied with the way that they sell the roasted pork. Every time I went to buy one pound of roasted pork (Now $11 per pound, used to be $10 per pound), they always gave me $13 of roasted pork. I asked, Why? They ALWAYS said, Its very difficult to chop exactly one pound of roasted pork. Come on. Do you guys have different excuses? Around $1 difference is absolutely acceptable, but not $3 difference. The man chops roasted pork every day. He doesnt know how much roasted pork is worth to one pound? Are you kidding me? That means he is not professional. Can you guys not lie to me? I hate this kind of selling strategy. Its not about money. I feel like being deceived. Which restaurant in Chinatown would do that? I would say only this restaurant. To the owner: There are so many restaurants in Chinatown. You are not the only one. Please be honest to your customers.
This review is based on the one dish I had, the Wonton Soup. $10.99 for a big bowl of soup/broth with lots of different kinds of shrimp dumplings in it. 3 varieties - classic wonton, and 2 others that I didnt expect at all, since wonton is a specific kind of dumpling. They were all delicious. Lots of filling. Big pieces of shrimp in them. Great value. I think i got 3-4 dumplings of each kind. Definitely going back for this.
This restaurant is truly fantastic. It doesnt look too appealing, but if you base where you want to eat off of the the look of the restaurant, you are locking yourself in a cage of boring food. The service decent and the food is truly fantastic and its authentic. I highly recommend this place.
I ordered chicken, rice and vegetables. When I received my order chicken was ice cold and huge bones in my chicken. I went back inside to tell them this is not what I wanted and that food was cold. I told her I wanted boneless chicken. They pretty much took the same chicken I had and took bones out. They put it in the microwave and handed it back to me. When I tasted it was the saltiest chicken I ever had!!!!All I could taste was salt. The cabbage was soggy. I have worked in lower east side and there are so many other spots to eat with flavor. This place is dump don’t waste your money!!!
Editing review - 10/2/21 Another groups dinner w the king crab and it was incredible! Everything was delicious, we love wus!!! Old review December 2019: had a great experience with a large group. Order THE crab ahead of time served fried and covered in a butter garlic sauce, head served as king fried rice. Pea shoots, dumpling soup, and duck are all must haves.
I have been coming to this location since I was in High School with my friends, 1980s. It has changed to many names but there are still a couple of waiters from that time still working at this location. Fast forward January 2021, We now live in Upstate, N.Y., and I have continued to come with my husband and 4 children. My oldest son who just recently came with us, last time he was here he mustve been 10 years old. Hes 18 now and watching him eat his favorite #roastporkoverwhitericeWas absolutely divine his whole face was a movie screen as he was reminiscing of the times he grew up here as he ate every grain of rice and then my plate and he also ordered 2 more orders to take home. Still the best place ever bar none!
Really good. I have spent many weeks in different parts of China and felt that when I turned my back to the street I could imagine I was there The dishes were authentic and delicious. The staff was very formal (serious) but professional and service was very fast. The Chinese broccoli was very tender, but did not come with the sauce we often get with it at dim sum service. You also have to order rice separately as we have found with some places here in New York, it does not automatically come with your meal.
3.5 stars. I loved their dim sum. All of their rice crepes (shrimp, cilantro scallions, etc) were nice and soft. Chicken feet were marinated nicely and fell off the bone. Their BBQ dishes were cooked to perfection. In all of Chinatown, its very hard to find good roast pork since most places now make it SO dry due to severely lean cuts of meat, which does not serve you any good roast pork. The downfall to this place is that the pan fried and stir fried noodle items are pretty salty. Also, one famous dish is beef chow fun in all Chinese restaurants. They made it all wrong over here. I was incredibly disappointed with that. Ill come here for the dim sum and BBQ items only.
Staff is good and quick. Food comes out fairly fast and is pretty tasty. It does get quite crowded with people. There was one time I was given a plate and cup with food still crusted on them but I asked for a new set and they immediately got me clean dishes. So overall not bad and very nice place to eat.
Spy sauce chicken was pretty dry. The wontons were pretty standard and nothing special. The soup noodles were not the standard noodles and they were not good. The only good thing about the noodles are they dont get soggy. Prices are on the high side at Chinatown. There are better places for lunch in the area.
Fantastic BYO restaurant that is perfect for large groups. Getting the whole live crab is $$ but definitely worth it as it is delicious and comes out served 3 ways. The bone broth with wontons is a must, as are the clams. You can opt for the veal or lamb chops (or both), but pretty much everything on the menu is delicious.
I LOVE THIS PLACE. Everything is good. Too good. The bone broth dumpling soup is a game changer. There clarified bone broth with handmade plump dumplings filled with generous whole shrimp is to die for. The whole pig is crunchy and great for celebrations. All the seafood is super fresh. Best Chinese in the city
Ate here on a Sunday morning around 1030ish. The steamed shrimp dumplings, shrimp rolls and beef rolls were pretty yummy. The pork and shrimp fried rice were okay. The wonton soup was good! Hey, they sell iced coffee! I didnt buy it b/c I opted for the free tea but you have that option, coffee freaks! The bathrooms are downstairs, but space is tight in the basement. Not senior friendly. Restaurant is just feet away from the F subway East Broadway stop. Cool! But street parking is limited, if not impossible to find. Use the municipal parking lot on Essex and Delancey if you must drive. It is so worth it to park there and walk ten mins to the Restaurant because you can stop into other stores along the way!!!
This restaurant does it all. Large selection of dim sum for morning tea or coffee, Chinese BBQ counter for roast pork, soy sauce chicken, roast duck, and much more. Full dinner menu served all day. Dim sum is a must try. BBQ items are great. Dinner menu is excellent. Modern decor. Mid range prices compare to Chinatown restaurants.
Food quality was very good and it was fresh. The Roast Suckling Pig was awesome, crispy skin and flavorful meet. The Beijing Kaoya was also very good and flavorful, fresh duck and crisp skin. The buns were very lite and fluffy. We had 6 or 7 dishes and all were very good.Came back for a family holiday dinner. Had a great experience, food was great!
Update post-Covid: they re-opened a few weeks ago. Glad to have this neighborhood place back in rotation. Really good dim sum including their steamed roast pork buns. They added outdoor dining which will help their business which was pretty bustling today. What a great find on the LES outskirts of Chinatown. It’s right outside the F East Broadway station. In the past month, we have had 3 meals here. Everything is good. The standouts for me are the shrimp and pork wontons in bone broth — yes, not that yellow MSG soup but a real rich broth with green veggies. The shrimp is fresh and there’s the fried pork rind that is the essence of a true Cantonese wonton. The dim sums are also top quality — excellent chicken big bun with chicken, egg, and Chinese sausage, a whole meal in a bun. The bean curd skin wrapped meat is fresh and light, not over fried. My favorite is their steamed chicken feet, gelatinous texture in a flavorful sauce. The one fail for me was their roast duck — it was fatty and not flavorful at all. Maybe it was an off day as I see crowds of people ordering their roast meats. I am eyeing their lunch specials $6.25 per entree is a great price. I will have to report back.
They graciously let us hang around for three hours as we drank wine and ate a ton of delicious Cantonese cuisine. The wait service was really pleasant (something you dont always see in Chinatown!). We truly enjoyed everything we ate, from the duck, to the chili crab, to the wonton soup.
What a great place for a meal. Large menu with items we dont get at our local restaurant. We actually over ordered dim sum, wontons, dumplings with bone soup, and two lunch specials. The server made sure we didnt have a table full of food and only sent in one order at a time. The food was delicious. The meal would have cost twice the amount if this was our home town restaurant. Highly recommend.
Overall, the food and service is great, however, some of the staff are rude. As you enter the restaurant, you see many gwai los due to the gentrification in the area, and when you see them finish their food, theyre treated nicely as they are leaving. When I finished MY meal, one of the waiters bugged me to drop more tip when I already gave him 18% gratitude. I would still recommend the food here, especially the roast pig, but get takeout. Have a nice day!
Went for a late lunch with family. Ordered some wonton noodles, roast pork and some Chinese greens. The roast pork was fantastic and the wonton noodles was very good although the noodles were the wrong kind. They also serve dim sum and rice dishes. They cater to a a variety of people and not just Asians. Definitely worth eating here if you happen to be in the neighborhood.
Such a great experience—the staff was very attentive/helpful and food delicious. We ordered the Peking duck (yes! do it!), wonton soup (great!), and Chinese broccoli (it was fine). Honestly, Id go back for that crispy duck skin. BYOB, although they do serve beer and wine.
Wus Wanton Palace is the perfect lunch stop for those in search of quick authentic and delicious Chinese cuisine. I ordered the two meat with rice combo and got the soy sauce chicken and the roast duck. The soy sauce chicken while conceptually appealing was not as good as I had imagined as the chicken was room temperature and relatively bland. The roast duck however was delicious as the meat was tender a d juicy and the skin was crispy. The duck was aromatic yet still satisfying. The scallion pancakes were also delicious as they were flakey and still hot. I highly reccome d this resturaunt.
I had not eaten there is a long time and we ate on Christmas eve, Ive been off my review game. Given that the outdoor set up is still about 20-30 feet from where entry way to table my duck wasnt as hot as I like to eat it.The general Tsao was delicious. I do feel like the prices are a few dollars over what they should be but it was tasty.
Although the dish options here may be similar to other Chinese restaurants in terms of what you can order, they are delicious. There are a few other notable differences from other Chinese restaurants listed at the end of this review.Had the Chinese broccoli, New York No. 1 Wonton, Famous Garlic Aromatic Crispy Chicken (Half), Famous Golden Fried Rice, Sha Cha Beef w. Vermicelli CasseroleChinese broccoli had only the stems and no leaves but it was still flavorful with the sauce they had on it.New York No. 1 Wonton was a wonton soup with about 12 shrimp and pork wontons. The wonton had a large piece of shrimp and was very flavorful. The wonton wrap was white and yellow, making the wontons colorful.Famous Garlic Aromatic Crispy Chicken (Half) was crispy, reasonably salted. It had an ample amount of a fried mixture of garlic and scallions on top, which itself was delicious.Famous Golden Fried Rice had a mixture of thin salted fried egg drizzle (the type where you slowly pour egg into oil), yellow raisins, and dried shrimp. It rice was a little bit on the dry side.Sha Cha Beef w. Vermicelli Casserole had an ample amount of beef, vermicelli, onions and bell pepper that soaked up all of the Sha cha sauce flavors. The bathroom is downstairs, and there is an additional step at the bottom of the stairs. They are small but relatively clean.Note:Unlike other Chinese restaurants, the host here doesnt call out numbers but will walk over to confirm your wait number. Also, the list used by waiters to confirm the dishes ordered at each table has prices printed on it but is not the final bill.
Its a place that wont change with the times. Food trends will come and go but a place like this will just continue to truck on.They offer the range of classic Cantonese cuisine. You can have your choice of all the BBQ meats and dim sum. If you want something from the kitchen, you can do that as well. They have something for everyone. My personal favorites are the salt and pepper pork chop. This dish may seem simple enough but so many people mess it up. Sometimes the breading is too thick or the meat is too thin. Sometimes it is underseasoned. The one you find here are consistent and done well. They are crunchy and salty enough with just a hint of kick from the sliced jalpenos. The bits of garlic goes great on top of rice. Add some chili sauce and you will be ushered into flavor town. The beef chow fun here is a classic that is cooked properly. There is the wok flavor that shines through with each bite. The slices of beef are tender. The noodles itself are just as tender and have just enough chew. Again, I like to top it off with the chili sauce. Its not that it needs it but their chili sauce is like a cherry on top of a sundae.Service here is better than most places. They are good about bringing tea and water. They will refill it quickly. However, dont linger if it is busy. They will very nicely move you along. Its a classic place in the midst of many trendy joints.
Went here for dinner with a large group of people. to begin with the service was below average it took quite a while for anyone to come and greet our table. The food is mediocre too, everything tastes bland and is full if unnecessary gelitan.Go out to a different Chinese restaurant youll be much happier.
Sitting here now. Found a fly in my congee. Staff agreed to replace it but said that there was no fly to the workers right next to me. When I stood up and pointed out the fly, politely, telling them that I had found a fly and wasnt just trying to bother them I was very rudely told to sit down. The food is good though, Im not going to lie on that count and the prices are excellent. Im pretty sure being Latina didnt work in my favor. Im not sure if Ill come again.
Ordered Salted Fish with Chicken pieces on rice and was robbed of the fish. I had felt I wanted to help them since the previous restaurant there went out of business when they jacked up the prices of all their foods but if youre going to try to rip me off then Im hoping unpleasant things for them! I also told a few things to the waiter to order and she never ordered them but ordered other selective things instead. Someone else I knew said this place had non delicious foods also! Getting a crowd going!
Good, tasty food. Crowded on weekends. When it gets busy though, the quality of the food drips a touch. Ordered a boat congee that was very bland. Almost as if they just threw ingredients in a white congee and called it a day. The fried crullers were also very dry and hard. Ive been there on a slower weekday and the food was better. But the staff are welcoming and friendly.
I ordered two bbq rice dishes plus some other small sides. When I asked for two ginger sauce, the lady only gave me one and said the rice dishes had some already, it didnt. When I got home to call and say there werent any in the rice dishes, she told me that I should have told them to put in the ginger sauce when I ordered.Rude customer service, unapologetic, placing blame on the customer. Great policies to running a business
Cash Only!! Bring your own wine (no cork charges) No cake cutting charges!! Free wifi!3.5 stars for the food but 4 for the serviceOrdered the following:Garlic Sauce Chicken - this was a little dry and not enough sauce but there was adequate roasted garlic on topEnoodle with crabmeat - the noodles were good but there were so little crabmeatVegetables in bean curd - this was good but there wasnt enough beancurd so we asked them to add more. The 2nd round came out deliciousSweet and sour spare ribs - it was yummy and crispyHouse special shrimp - this was my favorite! The fried pieces had bacon, dried shrimp, garlic, scallions, green peppers! Such an intricate dish!Eggplant and fish in casserole - this was good too, just like any restaurantsOverall, I will be coming back!
If you love seafood cooked Chinese style, go to Wus Wonton King. The dining experience here is worth it! Though its name implies it is a wonton restaurant, it is actually a full service restaurant with a large menu of delicious dishes from meats, poultry, vegetables and a variety of seafood choices, all freshly cooked and served. Also it is away from chaotic Canal St and just a block from the East Broadway F train station. But be prepared to wait in line for a table...most of the time.

2022-03-29Get the crab-three ways, I think this was the best dish of the night. Our table had 10 courses, and the crab-three ways was definitely my favorite: (1) light garlic boil/steam crab legs on a bed of cabbage—probably my favorite out of the three, (2) fried crab legs and (3) crab fried rice. We also had the Peking duck, the roast pig and the lamb chops. The Peking duck didn’t stand out, and personally I’m not a fan of buns as I am a staunch believer that Peking duck should only be wrapped in the rice crepe papers. I also wasn’t a fan of the roast pig… the lamb chops were good. I would come back for the crab again.

2022-02-07Came here for dinner on Lunar New Year- the indoor area was full but we were able to sit in their covered outdoor area. The space had heaters so it was fairly comfortable (although a tiny bit chilly). The food was very tasty, as we ordered a few dishes for the table. Everything came out quickly and the service was fast! Of all the food, I especially enjoyed the wonton soup- a must get!

2022-05-11Pre Mother Day dinner. Heard about this place since opening and most was positive. We all decide to give it and try. Day was pleasant and we got a big table outside. Since it was five in the afternoon only a few tables occupied but left as dinner was serve so we had the space mostly to us. Meal was great and not sure but I believe that they made it a bit more to accommodate our party. Just me. From what I hear and experience I believe they will be around for quite a while and this location is just a bit outside chinatown which they dont have a huge competition. Go and enjoy!

2022-05-09Best wontons and dumplings Ive ever had. They give generous amounts of flavourful fillings. Service is decent. Stairs to the bathroom were super slippery not so sure how since we were the very first customers

2021-10-31Great authentic chinese sea food restaurant. Super friendly service. Ordered from mostly general to fancy dishes. Pricing seems to match ordered nicely. Large indoor and outdoor dinning area. They do respectfully checking vaccination card and photo ID. Kind of making me feel a bit safer. This will be added as definitely returning visit place for us.

2021-12-17One of the best Chinese restaurants I’ve been to in NYC! Coming from Vancouver, I was very impressed with the taste, quality, and portion sizes (all at great prices)!Definitely top 3 list for me for Chinese food. Will certainly be back regularly to try all the other items on the menu

2022-06-28One of our favorite late night spots in Chinatown NYC. It always tops off the beginning of our weekend. The roast duck is never overdone. The roast pork is not consistent in regards to juiciness.. but the last time I went it was super succulent! Note if you want Dim Sum its only served during lunch time. Also, its always busy with dine in available.

2022-02-21We were so hungry and tired that I forgot to take pics of the other food. Their dishes were delicious and the portions were huge. Not a fan of the golden fried rice. So try something else when you visit. Dim sum was also not available but we also arrived at 9 pm lol. Their “outdoor” seating was heated and spacious.

2022-03-16An amazing place for Dates, Groups or Parties.Slightly pricy dishes with large portions served in a way thats amazingly easy to share with a group, the food also tastes good to boot!Only gripe I have is they have a pretty low amount of Variety in terms of Drinks and Alcohol

2021-12-28We had dinner in the outdoor seating area, and were blown away by yummy the food was. The service was wonderful - quick to seat us, take our order, bring tea & food, and clear plates away. We ordered the Peking duck (half), which came in buns, and legs on the side, with the well-deservedly named NYC no 1 wonton soup (stuffed with huge pieces of shrimp!), and the pan fried chicken and vegetable noodles. I would love to go back, though would perhaps sit inside, as we were ravaged by mosquito bites!
