Effervescent sodas, fresh coffee, crispy fries and tasty cole slaw. Good illumination and clean facilities, including the bathroom. Automatic teller machine in the vestibule. Booths cozy. Waitstaff very heavily accented! Prices remarkably fair. This diner gets busy, so plan your visit accordingly!
Great food and great service a combination that keeps my wife and I returning just about every week. My wife and I like to order a sandwich we like to call the “Beacon Duo” it’s toasted Rye bread with grilled chicken, basil pesto, roasted red peppers, avocados and Swiss cheese served with french fries.
Im not really going to give it any stars. My food was good. My guests food. Was supposed to be stuffed seafood platter. Lets just say. The macaronis soggy, the peas are mushed and the chicken taste like wood! ( Sugar Hill gang). At first the order was brought out wrong. Then sent back. Hence ....
Visited this diner last Sunday- along with half of Brooklyn and Manhattan. Solid spot- fast and friendly service, delicious breakfast burrito, great prices. Also, props for serving both forms of breakfast sausage (patties AND links)! I do wish they had more bathrooms / stalls- but obv not a deal breaker.
Believe the hype ! This old school diner is amazing. My husband and I had the turkey burger and the buffalo chicken panini with fries and omg it was the best we’ve ever had ! The servers are the nicest and friendliest and very much attentive to all your needs. The menu is very large and caters to all needs and wants. Meals are fairly priced considering how generous the portions are. I’m so happy I discovered this gem by chance of just passing on the highway and saw the sign on the shoulder. I can’t wait to go back !!
Great food and great service. Very very clean. You definitely get your moneys worth with their portions. Also a bonus they have a whole section of their menu thats gluten free. I had the Cajun shrimp wrap and it was phenomenal! Its not something Id usually order but all the ingredients came together for a yummy meal with a side order of fries. Id love to come back.
The lady made me cry!!! She laughed at me told me I had to hurry up & order & literally tore menu from me told me I couldn’t order broiled fish…she was not the waitress she was the hostess…I had been on road traveling for 12 hours I came there beat down & tired…I thought it was going to be great old fashion diner experience. Instead it was a living nightmare. Then for her to laugh at me. I’m not a JOKE. I’m a WOMAN just as you are a WOMAN. Please don’t laugh at another female that comes into your establishment to finally have a meal after traveling alone for 12 hours. Unkind unfriendly totally unprofessional!!! I’m still stilling here in my car outside diner crying my eyes out. Thank you for making me feel like I should be dead…I’m a human being I deserve to be treated with respect. Please no one should support this business. Minus 5 stars. If you don’t have kindness you don’t have no spirituality. It doesn’t hurt to be kind.
I honestly dont know how Ive gone this long without writing a review. Coming from Jersey, I have a high standard for town diners. Ever since I moved to New York, its been hard to find a diner that feels small business, has incredible food, and the staff isnt rude. This diner is a GEM. I (not even joking) am eating there sometimes three or four times a week -- And for all the vegetarian folks... this is THE BEST VEGGIE BURGER IVE EVER HAD.
This is the second time I have been to this diner. The first time I ordered a chicken entry and an onion soup. The chicken wasn’t bad, but the waitress forgot about my soup. The second time I ordered a Caesar salad and this experience is primarily why my rating is low. First there was so much water in the plate. I appreciate that the salad was washed, but it should be somewhat strained before plaiting. Any seasoning that was there, was washed out. Second, there was anchovies in the salad. I don’t hate anchovies, but I did not expect them in the salad and would have liked to have been asked if I wanted them included. Third, the dressing included was bland and looked like it came out of a bottle. For a $17 Caesar salad I expected much more.
Food was delicious and more than enough. Personally for me, having the French Onion soup first and then the Pastrami sandwich with French fries was too much food. I really should not have gotten the French fries, but instead had the sandwich alone with the pickle wedge and Cole Slaw.
Can’t say enough great things about this diner. The staff is so friendly, the owners are always present and interacting with the guests, and the food is consistently AMAZING and quick. From the wide assortment of tasty paninis to the best chocolate chip pancakes EVER (and I mean the best ever), I highly recommend Yankee Clipper! Also, the dessert is amazingly fresh, especially the chocolate layer cake! Extra shout out to Amy and Jess, the most reliable, attentive waitresses! All of the servers are great :)
Good amount of outdoor seating, plus some indoor as well (as of 10/18/2020)I had the clipper wrap.... delicious layering of the cheeses and bacon. Potatoes were superbly done. I also got the London coffee (with Baileys)..warm and sweet, good for a fall brunch. She got the mushroom/veggie omelette, with a side of turkey sausage and gluten-free bread. All excellent quality.Staff was attentive, and coffee refills were abundant. Everything was clean and well organized, and prices were reasonable.
Visited Beacon, NY with my Dad & Sister - came upon Yankee Clipper Diner- we were incredibly pleased with the breakfast we were served and also with the exceptional service!! Can’t say enough about Tamara our server- she was superb- so wonderfully friendly & attentive. The food had so much flavor and we couldn’t say enough about the coffee! We loved the coffee so much that we asked Tamara what company the coffee was from - we’ve contacted the company to order some. If you are a fan of French toast- it was amazing- wonderful amount of cinnamon flavoring- also had the spinach & feta omelette- amazing!!! We stayed two nights in Beacon & had breakfast there both mornings because we were that pleased with it. Also want to mention how beautifully clean it is and how pretty the decor is- just renovated a year ago. You won’t be sorry visiting Yankee Clipper diner- promise!!!
Very average meal. My first time there, but willing to go back and give another chance. Ordered the fish and chips, and they basically tasted like store bought frozen fish sticks. The diner itself is stylish and very clean. Next time Ill try their burger and amend this review.
I was approached and interacted with Tonia... upon arrival she stated that is was a 15 min wait before seating on a busy Saturday morning. I stated that I would do a take out because I was famished. Her tone and mannerisms was beautiful. Her customer service although short was very poised and refreshing. I can’t wait to go back and dine at the restaurant. I later approached another waitress to say that I was very impressed with her service and as a result I am now writing this review. Please visit this location.
Wonderful! We are visiting town for a few days and staying up the street. Went there last night for an easy dinner and ended up coming back for breakfast this morning. Good food and service, and not overpriced. Wide selection to pick from and they even have gluten free pasta available. Win win!
This is a very cool building and has full traditional diner vibes. Its clean and comfortable and has a huge menu. We opted for the Greek options as we had read these were the best, but all the food was very average and quite bland, which was a shame. Service was good though!
My third time here and counting. Always a great experience. Staff are friendly and attentive. If I want to change my order around and add/subtract certain ingredients, they were nice enough to do that. Omelet and panini are both great options. The menu is massive and have tons of choices. Price is good too.
This was my first visit. We were lucky in that they were still serving early bird dinners which included soup dinner and dessert. Everything made from scratch and delicious, especially pickled beets! Server (Carly?) was a delight, very personable. Will absolutely go back.
Very good diner food and they finally brought their salt content in their soups down. At least the last few times I bought it. I used to call the diner salt central but now it is much better. I hope it stays this way. They just needs a place to sit in the waiting room for the old folks.
Its REALLY tough for me to dispense a 5 star, but this place is simply great.Decor is modern, but not like, trendy, and spacious enough and comfortable. The menu is WAY extensive, with great options, Id thing for anyone, except the most restrictive diet. The prepared food is very good, every time Ive been there, about a handful. And, finally, all the staff are helpful, attentive and very friendly (Im thinking theres a trickle of MDMA in the pipes entering the building, or something?).Strongly recommend, and looking forward to my next visit. 🤙
I hadnt been in this Diner in a long time. Recently, Id stop in once in a while, to get a cup of coffee, to go. This past week I went there two times, for lunch, and I was WOWed! The service here was Professional, and polite, and very efficient.I was then WOWed again, when I ordered the food. The Chicken Noodle soup was almost a meal in it self. Cubes of chicken, and noodles, top to bottom. . My burger was cooked just the way I wanted it. It came with cold fresh Lettuce and Tomato slices, and a nice spear of Pickle! The restaurant is clean to the point of being shiny. The restaurant is handicapped accessible. Also they have a parking lot in back of the Diner. They take Credit , Debit cards and cash.
I live around the area but this was the first time we went there.Thumbs up for the delicious food & a lot of choices on the menu ,the serving of food was fantastic. The diner itself was clean and presentable. The staff is so friendly to everyone and very accomodating.Although its kinda bit pricey, but all in all the food experience was great!
Had a nice breakfast together with my sister. She ordered an egg white omelet with bacon & tomato that was not only huge but was also nicely prepared. I had 2 scrambled w/cheddar...nothing special, but delicious nonetheless. Service was friendly, on the spot and the whole thing came to under $20. Altogether, a nice experience and Id gladly suggest YCD to anyone!!!
I love this place. Breakfast its always on point. The burgers are delicious too. I cant believe how well fried chicken goes with waffles. The sundae waffle is insane, get ready for a sugar rush or instant diabetes. I almost get the steak and eggs. Theres a reason why they got the best dinner in the Hudson Valley reward.
Were from South Carolina and we were not sure where to eat, but my wife googled a diner and this one had great reviews. We were a little sceptical because of our experience with another diner a few days earlier. This diner had great food, atmosphere, and was friendly! All that you would want in a dining experience.
Waitress was terrible. Kinda set us in the corner and forgot about us. A guy came out to clean the table beside us and whatever he sprayed on the table should be used while people are eating. We could all taste it. Would never go back. Wish I could give it minus stars.
Great for breakfast. Not sure on the other meals (Ive not had dinner thus 4*s) but the breakfast I can highly recommend. Some adventurous offerings outside the standard Benedicts - Waffles - Pancakes - Egg Sandwiches are all very good and satisfying. Portions are at least for us are just about perfect. Not so much you feel you did something to your body you shouldnt have.
This place is always a winner. Its the place always has a table when everything is packed, always has a great meal when everything else is fairly bad, always has good value when everything else is way overpriced for what it is and done badly, at that. Its not fancy but it is well done diner food. In fact, better than most. Tired of it all? Go here.
This is my favorite place to stop when I travel on interstate 84! Not only do I know the owners very well but the food is wonderful and the service is great! I stopped today but they were not there, celebrating Greek Easter!! It’s not far off the beaten path and worth the trip!
I love the diners in NY. Yankee Clipper has just about anything you can think of on the menu. My whole parties food was delicious. The desserts were especially tasty. Clean restaurant and restrooms too! Next time Im near the Yankee Clipper I will definitely stop and eat.
A classic styled diner with a bursting menu peppered with interesting little twists (like a 3 cheese pesto grilled sandwich that is my new favorite snack). Patient and friendly staff, great milkshakes and comfy booths for long lunch meetings make this a late-night haven, even when the sun still shines.
A very conventional American diner. All white guests (except me) and all minority servers. If only comes a robbery with a shotgun, Id thought I were in a movie set. The food, very conventional hunky food. I ordered the Heavenly Pasta, thinking perhaps that is why fewer and fewer people believe in heaven now.
We atethere, yesterday, mash potatoes, mushy and no taste, usually, the food, is good, maybe the cook, had a off day ?We had very small bowl of white clam chowder, very watery and I did not like it, I am convinced, there is not one good place to eat in dutchess county, new york.
The Yankee Clifford diner is the extended family of Beacon.Standing stately at the gateway of town Not only does it have everything you want a diner to have but it has great service incredible pina coladas a bar they will add anything to anything without a blank. When I was renovating my home and Beacon and didnt have a kitchen for months the Yankee clipper became my extended family my extended kitchen and my extended home I could count on them for something delicious plentiful the menu never got old and was served with kindness and a smile.
This is the Chick-fil-A of diners only a foodie would know what I mean best pancakes hands down staff super professional ecstatically friendly sandwiches oh my goodness and the Retro place makes you feel as if you step back in time ample parking in the back lovely ambience great surroundings and shopping spots after Eatery definitely a must when traveling.
Quintessential diner experience. As seen in Paul Newman’s 1994 classic, Nobody’s Fool!Had the cream of turkey soup recently (right, who knew?) and it was a delight. They should change the name to “dream of turkey.”Try something off the “Southwestern” section for a festive detour from the routine.

2021-10-11CAUTION: DELICIOUS breakfast any time of day!Oh man, I was so happy we found this cool diner before our hike in Hudson Highland State Park. The brunch we had was delicious, fulfilling and very generous. We had three separate orders: Nutella Banans French toast (aka heaven on earth), buttermilk pancakes with eggs and bacon, and an order of western omelettet accompanied by rye toasted and homefries Everything was made with love, almost to perfection! This place is really clean, has friendly waiters, and a cool 1950s diner vibe going. We will most certainly come again even if its just to eat! I wish more places had this home like style diner. Just a heads up, the coffee is also amazing!Bring the family and enjoy! Ps: the portions are big.

2022-05-26Wake up and smell the coffee and enjoy what has to be one of the best breakfasts we had on our entire trip through the north east! Stayed in a local hotel and was offered take out continental breakfast so decided to walk to this diner and give it a go! Best decision of the day! Amazing server, brilliant food, clean restrooms beautifully decorated! The ABC of restaurant life making this a come to place. Sorry no photographs didn’t expect this to be so fantastic!

2022-07-03Delicious food with a large variety of dishes to choose from. My wife and I requested that a dish be taken back after realizing that it had crab in it— an item that we both cannot eat. Staff honored our request IMMEDIATELY and were VERY accommodating. Portions are great, and service is SUPER on point.Would definitely come back!

2021-04-07What a find! Believe all the positive reviews. This place has fantastic food and a cool vibe to boot. The food is large portion and big enough to share. The best is to order lots of stuff and go for the family style dinner and have a little of everything. Enough food to keep you full most the day. Pancakes, eggs, everything done without a flaw.

2022-05-09Its been a while since Ive been impressed by a dinner! Yankee Clipper gave gigantic delicious portions and phenomenal service, especially for Mothers Day. We got salmon and a chicken wrap which we recommend. The place also has a retro nostalgic feel, something you truly dont see too much anymore so be sure to support them the next time you are in Beacon! You wont regret it.
