Yonkers animal Hospital has gone straight down the tubes. This used to be a reputable location to take your pet. No longer. The front office who handles appointments and interacts with the clients are rude, uncaring, unprofessional, negligent, unreliable, nasty and causing this veterinarian hospital to lose many clients/patients. I know personally of eight families who are now no longer using them. The front office staff Ramon as well as the young lady with short hair. Should be fired immediately. The way they interact with clients/patients is extremely unprofessional. Mistakes are being made left and right and they do not apologize for their errors. Instead they hang the phone up on you when you confront them. my pet was scheduled for an appointment for surgery. We show up and told that there is no Sergent there and we had missed our appointment. Saying that our appointment was on Monday. We did not book a Monday appointment we definitely booked a Wednesday appointment. Rudely told that this was our fault. we callback after thinking about what just happened and was told that the surgeon could not do surgery on Wednesday so they rescheduled us for Monday. We explain to them that no one had contacted us about rescheduling. (Mind you no apology at all) they insisted that someone left a message. We explain to them why did you not follow up with another call if you did not speak to confirm that the change of surgery date would be acceptable for us. They said that is not their job to have to keep calling. Well no one left us a message. No one check to make sure we received a message of them canceling. But instead of apologizing and trying to make it right. Trying to reschedule us. We are treated extremely rudely with nasty attitudes. We had a few incidences with the front staff a few months prior when we came with our new pets. we have been clients for 20 years and we had in the past referred many many families to them. Now we are no longer going to be clients for this veterinarian hospital. Dr. Howell I advise you to get rid of your front staff. Each and everyone are costing you your business. You need to get them in check. It’s disgusting what they are doing to your business. You worked for many years to build up a reputable business And now they are single-handedly ruining it. Especially Ramon and the girl with short hair.
This place killed my cat. I went to this place when my cat suddenly stoped eating, They discharged him after saying he was stable. The next day my cat died. They misdiagnosed him! Thats malpractice! That place and that doctor should lose their license! Because of them I lost my companion for 13 years. No one should have to experience what I went through.
Would rather cut your dogs nails then help with emergency issues! Called in and was told that the office already had too many emergencies today and couldnt help my dog out. Was told to go to different ERs in the area (which have there own set of costs associated). My dog is fine now thanks to the ER but after this kind of let down from a vet office I had trusted I will be finding a different Vet ASAP after being with them for 4 years. They are priorities are in the wrong place.
Dr. Howell is the most knowledgeable and caring vet I’ve ever met in my life ! I have a 4 year old French bulldog who’s been dealing with food and seasonal allergies since he was a puppy. We’ve visited many vet clinics and even got weak diagnosis which helped my poor dog for a few days or a week than back to zero!ONLY Dr. Howell found the remedy for my dog: he gave us a plan and we followed it. In the past year my dog’s life improved so much : he’s healthier and happier. You will not be disappointed with dr. Howell, he’s an amazing veterinarian, just follow his recommendations.11/29/2021 UpdatedApparently a new company took over and when I called for an emergency after my dog had an IVDD surgery and was not able to pee even if stimulated, I decided to call Yonkers Animal Hospital upon suggestion of the hospital where he had the surgery (they wanted me to call the primary doctor first). The lady that answered to the phone explained that they only had one doctor and that he couldnt take Chico. I explained her it was an emergency, she responded I cant take him, I only have one doctor and HANGED UP ON me while I was still talking. Tried to call back, no answer. Called back after a few hours some lady responds (perhaps the same one?), claiming that she doesnt believe she hanged up on me. She actually said that she believes that I WAS PLACED ON HOLD, which clearly is not true, also why wouldnt you pick up the phone after calling you over and over? Also when I explained to her that I was very disappointed and that I would have to change vet because theyre extremely unprofessional, she answered thats fine, we are ok with that ...GET YOURSELF TOGETHER WOMAN, YALL NEED TO CHILL AND START BEING SENSITIVE TOWARDS PEOPLE WHO ARE CLEARLY WORRIED FOR THEIR PETSBeing nice doesnt cost you anything, ESPECIALLY IF YOU WORK FOR A HOSPITAL.I didnt yell at this woman or was being rude to her, I was just worried about my dog and called them because I needed them. Goodbye!
IDK what has happened to this place. Drs. Howell and Givan are wonderful caring and compassionate people. The staff has always been caring and helpful, until lately. Early 2020 when he went for his annual was the last time I saw this great staff, however the last 2 recent visits it seemed the new people just dont care. Now to be clear this is not about the 2 Drs. mentioned above. They are great. They need to really look at what is going on there and see how the new staff members and doctors treat patients and the feedback from the patients. I get the feeling that whoever took over the practice is all about the money now.
I took my Pom Teddy there....he had 2 sets of xrays.....2nd one I was told his leg was broke...I asked about 1st xray...they said they couldnt find it. I took him to another vet....he had cancer that caused the broken bone....how did yonkers not see this? We spent a few thousand there at yonkers....only to have our pet pass weeks later. Im sorry to say....ever since Dr.Howell retired....its not the same place. I used them for 20 years..... but dont think I will ever use them again. Very sad...used to be a good hospital. Do not use.....I think its all-out the money now....find a privately owned vet to use....like this place used to be. Vet I dealt with there talked to me more about my car than my pet.....very unprofessional. Still dont understand how they lost his X rays and never saw the cancer in his leg...when 2nd vet I went to found it the same day! I really question if yonkers ever did the 1st xrays....I was charged so much money.....dont think it was worth it....glad I got 2nd opinion....and really found out was wrong with my Teddy. Please be aware. And they only reply....they cant find your information in thier system....kinda messed up to say since I have gone there 20 years and brought so many pets there....but they are going to say they cant find me?????really???? Stay away if you care about your pets...also one time they gave me used medicine...the bottle was open and the dropper was dirty I called to complain...and got new ....but how do you give used meds??? Also....do yourself a favor...scroll thru reviews....ever since Dr .Howell left....very poor reviews. Stay away and find another vet.
I’m very upset about the way my pet and family were treated at this hospital. My dog was having his first seizure, we were scared out of our minds and as we arrived we would not be helped. The vet simply told my mom they are appointment only and can not help my dog- my mom begged her, holding my dog as he was seizing, while I cried next to her pleading for the woman to take him. Another customer who had an appointment even said to her isn’t there anything you can do just help him and she refused. She ended up telling us to go to another hospital 20 minutes away but we researched online and found one closer (keep in mind my dog was still visibly seizing.) I am deeply hurt by this treatment and the lack of empathy shown for my suffering dog and worried family.
I brought my dog Miloh here for the first time today and they were absolutely wonderful! Dr. Howell is so kind and took away any anxiousness I had felt when I first arrived. I had been trying to find a good and reliable vet to bring my dog to and Im so happy I found this place!! Affordable prices too! 10/10 recommend!
What an amazing place! We brought our new puppy here for his first checkup and we could not have had a better experience. Dr. Howell is the most knowledgeable and patient doctor anyone can hope for. His team is incredible. They are so warm and provide the most thorough and compassionate care. We found the perfect place to care for our sweet boy and we couldnt be happier knowing that he (and we) is in such good hands. Thank you!!
I have known Dr, Howell for about 20 years. His dedication, knowledge and experience is exceptional. Dr. Gavin & Dr Howell both helped me so much when I lost my Persian Cat, Jasmine after 16 years. I was heartbroken. Dr Howell called me on a SUNDAY morning, as Jasmine was taking her step over the rainbow bridge. They were not only professional, but kind and supportive. The front desk is very friendly and hardworking. Now, I have 6 month old kitten and again they handle him with open arms. You may have to spend some extra time there, BUT ITS WORTH THE WAIT! Yonkers Animal Hospital is AWESOME. Thank you again for everything you do! KINDNESS COUNTS!
It wasn’t on the DR AT ALL. The issue was with the receptionist. I called in regards to my 16 year old dog, before I could even get my question out she cuts me off to tell me “ we close in 20 mins you have to take him to a emergency vet” and ends the conversation. I understand they were closing in 20 mins but she could have been a little more sensitive to the situation and at least try to give me a name for an emergency vet. Our animals are apart of our family the person answering the phone and questions should be a more sensitive to situations going on.
I have been going to Yonkers Animal Hospital for over 20 years. All 10 dogs have been there for shots and surgery and my latest fur baby will be there on Wednesday. Dr. HOWELL and the whole staff have been warm and wonderful. I could not ask for better vets for my fur babies.
I took my cat to get neutered here and the surgery went well. However they are very disorganized and personally think it’s too expensive. They asked for an incorrect payment. They also forgot to give the cone for my cat. You’d think they’d remember something so important so i didn’t bother to check. When i got home i noticed it was not there and had to drive back to ask for one and took way too long. I understand that with the whole covid 19 situation happening it’s hard but it’s still not acceptable. I also had the first appointment of the morning and they take hours to attend.
This review is long overdue. Im not sure if I wrote a review yet, dont think so, but anyhow here you go. I have been working as a travel nurse for years and NY was one of my stops. I needed a good vet because my dog is old and has mobility issues. Dr. Howell is the best vet that I think my dog has ever seen. He is wise beyond years, truthful and wont recommend anything that is not needed. The waiting room is always packed!! Dr. John Howell is the best! And the vet techs that gave my dog his lazer treatments, Nivia and Saida, thank you, so gentle and kind. And the front office staff that is ever so helpful...Marcy and Chloe. You guys are the best, I am very, very grateful. Thank you!!!
Ive been going here for almost 20 years now. They are nice, compassionate and very helpful. I only wish they had a late night emergency staff, not that my dog now is sick, but my dog before him became very ill from cancer and I didnt know where to go til the next morning. I was also a little younger and more naive, so that is partially my fault for not knowing what to do. (Come to think of it, maybe they do now, it has been a few years til I got another pet after my last). They will continue to get my support until I eventually move too far away to keep making the treks to happily use their services. Great doctors and caring staff. Everyone Ive dealt with has always been a pleasant experience, and it has been the same staff for as long as I can remember. The fact that theyve gone digital with email reminders as well as text reminders for you is great since I have such a hectic schedule these days, it makes for someone like me to have many reminders so they cant forget when an appointment is or needs to be made by. The best.
I have been bringing my pets to the Yonkers Animal Hospital for close to 16 years and I can only say that the staff and doctors are absolutely fantastic! Dr. Howell, of course, is my favorite, but that doesnt mean that the other Veterinarian Doctors (who have also treated my babies) arent as wonderful and caring. This is the Hospital to bring your pet in an emergency, as well as for general wellness. They are always accommodating to their furry patients, even if its last minute. I wouldnt dream of taking my pet anywhere else but here. If you want the best medical care for your pet, this is the place for them!Thank you Yonkers Animal Hospital for taking such good care of Sparky and Duke! YOU GUYS ROCK!
I almost never leave bad reviews about any place no matter how bad, but this hospital was unacceptable. The doctor acted indifferent telling us that our pet was very ill and would probably pass soon. He acted indifferent as we teared up learning the news and basically kicked us out of the office after our appointment was done. He asked if we wanted to put him down right then and there almost as if to save him some time and another appointment. We then went to another vet, who treated us with care and respect. Do not spend your money at this establishment.
We have been using Yonkers Animal Hospital for many years. The doctors are excellent, kind, and understanding. The office staff is highly professional and helpful. All of our pets have received the highest quality of care, and the doctors are among the most caring and qualified health professionals in the area.
We have two rescue kitties. After asking all my pet owner friends in the area which vet to use -from our mechanic to our neighbors, they unanimously said Dr. Howell Yonkers Animal Hospital. I used to take my kitties to Glen Cove L.I. but the drive was too far.Dr. Howell is the most intuitive, compassionate vet. We loved him immediately. He is a vet for all the right reasons and he was very affordable. He took great care of both of our cats a few times recently and we were so impressed by his compassion and the time he took to explain everything to us. Never did we feel rushed.Highly recommend!!
The doctors and the entire staff are very plesant, professional and polite. They go the extra step to make sure all your concerns are addressed. Busy veterinarian clinic, I wish they would have extended hours. My dog receives excellent care, very satisfied with the received care.
Never a bad experience with a doctor but horrible experience with reception and the wait time is always at least 2 hours long. Reception disrespected me and completely ignored my complaint--not to mention hung up on me and would not answer once I called back again. resulting in my cat to have a 104 degree fever ignored. I recommend you go elsewhere if you care about professionalism and people who actually want to help you.
Best Service and Prices For 2 Dogs! Receptionist are Awesome! Friendly and Sweet! The 3 Doctors are on there A Game! The Groomer is a Sweet Heart! Every one helps out with helping you with your pets to the car, too bringing out the food you bought for your animals! They even gives tours to your kids who are eager to get into the Vet World. They give internships to High School Kids as well. I was recommended to this vet 20 years ago and still bringing the animals. They also have amp parking. You wont regret bringing your animals to a Family Orient Vets!
They had my dog for almost a whole day Saying they where running test but didn’t wanna send me the results just the bill !!! Then the actual doctor at the vets office tells me to give my dog her meds and to call Monday to see is the meds are working AND NO ANSWER WHEN I DID REACH THEM THEY SAY YEAH ILL TELL THE DOCTOR TO SEE IF SHE CAN CALL ME BACK AND NEVERRRR DID I’m soo done with this place
The Veterinarians, especially Dr. Howell, took excellent care of my Lexus, a Pit Bull, from normal visits to dog bites, boarding and euthanasia. They were all the best. I miss my Lexie but when she got sick, Dr. Howell knew when I needed to let her go. She went gently into this good night.
The entire staff is fabulous! All the Doctors - Howell, Givan & Mendelsohn have such compassion for our dogs and have treated them very well over the years. The mindset that we really appreciate is they do not push every and all tests to be performed; keeping in perspective the cost to perform such tests. I wouldnt take my pets anywhere else!!!
I would highly recommend the Yonkers Animal Hospital after my first visit to this facility. After reading reviews on Google, I set up an appointment for my dog (French Bulldog). Upon arrival, my dog was attended promptly and was treated with love and affection. The veterinarian who attended my dog was patient, attentive to my concerns and offered insight on best practices for my frenchie.Lastly, prices were reasonable, and I didnt feel feel like I was being upsold on anything during our visit. With that said I would highly recommend the Yonkers Animal Hospital to anyone, and will continue taking my French Bulldog to this facility.
Awesome experience. The doctor came out to my car to assist me. Saw my son was upset and worried for the kittens, so he spoke to him and reassured him that they would be fine. He then invited my son inside for a tour and to see that the kittens would be well taken care of. When I picked my kittens up the staff answered all of my concerns and questions. Needless to say my kittens are doing great! Thanks to the wonderful staff!
Only giving one star because I have no other choice. Brought my dog here for vaccines and checkup, they cut her nails too short and caused bleeding. I noticed after we were home and called them to let them know, the female who answered the phone proceeded to tell me that they didn’t have any appointments until a week later and if I walked in it would be an emergency charge of $105. She completely dismissed that they could’ve caused the bleeding but if I was really concerned I should take her to an emergency center. Hey basically refused to see my dog to treat something they caused to begin with. I did take my dog to another vet and was told the bleeding was coming from her nails being cut ok short! Avoid them.
I do not wish to be too harsh, because I only went in for 1 appointment. Maybe something happened earlier in the day. However, the place seems quite disorganized. For example: I had my pets records sent over before the appointment, and then called to ask if everything was complete so that I could follow up with previous vets before the appointment. I was told that it was all good, but during the appointment the vet tech was looking through the chart and found that my pet didnt have rabies vac info. Good thing I had the info saved on my phone. Or, when I came in, I stood by the window for 10mins after I signed in and had to ask if i should sit and wait before the lady acknowledged that she would check me in. She looked at me, but didnt seem to register that she might need to do something. After she checked me in on her computer, I sat and waited for 15mins before she came to me with a clipboard saying, oh youre new? Were you waiting by the window for this? I had indicated at sign in that I was new, so it took 25 mins for everything to click. I waited about 40m mins past appointment time to been seen. The vet came in and never introduced himself. He kinda sidled up next to my dog and stood next to her. Somehow my dog was also very nervous here (she typically is not nervous - but it could be stress from moving and a new place) and the first thing he said was, she seems worried. Why? The he went ahead and gave her the 2 vaccinations she needed. And then had her get on the scale to be weighed. Usually, isnt that done first?Like I said, its only one appointment but it gave me a strange vibe. Everyone just seemed to be out of it. The experience was chaotic and there was never a chance to let my dog feel comfortable.
Called the hospital because my dog has been pooping with blood for the past 3 days. I’m terrified and trying to get her to a vet asap. I explained the to the the receptionist and she literally said, “NOPE. Not available until February.” I’m okay with them being unavailable until February but the way she said nope after I just told her the problem was heartless.
Dear Dr.HowellThe whole entire staff is amazing!Starting at the front desk very courteous and caring.Doctors and vet assistants extremely knowledgeable compassionate professionals who are patient. They answer all questions and the excellentbedside manner really make your pet comfortable. In baseball and football we say Home Run andTouch down they really do such a great job!Thanking you Dr. and staff.God Bless, Happy Holidays! The Benzola Family
Dr Howell and his staff are the most caring group of people when it comes to taking care of your needs during your companions life and at the end of their life cycle, They were most sympathetic and even sent a condolence card to my family. They truly understand what it means to have a pet and lose a pet and i urge anyone who reads this to make them your choice when it comes to deciding who you will trust with caring for and about your pets.
That star should not even be there have no choice. I will never bring my pets to this clinic ever again. 4/19/19 our 12 year old Beagle was scheduled for surgery and unfortunately did not make it through the surgery and this doctors couldn’t even give us the honest truth of what went on why he died on their hands. They professional medical veterinarian that you trusted and agreed to what they say to you but they did not they said everything should be okay after asking them all the necessary questions. All our friends and family said the same thing to us “that these doctors should have known that due to the age of Our Beagle they should NOT have done two surgeries at the same time and give the anesthesia too long stopped his heart” our family till now is going through a rough time because we missed him too much and our Beagle was taken From us too soon he was a very healthy beagle and loosing him this way was a tragic and emotional feeling for my family especially my son he was not only his pet but his buddy friend and son to him. These clinic we know we will never trust and use ever again. 5/2nd I went to pick up our beagles ashes them doctor couldn’t even look me straight in my eyes...... all I can say is there is nothing in this world that can ever heal broken hearts when you loose your loving pet beagle that you love so much and miss so much 🙏💕🙏💕🙏
This is a Horrible place, they dont care about your pet they only want to get paid. My dog was in pain. Instead of being concern about my dog the vet was like, we gotta charge you for a walk in fee of $110 plus whatever else is needed. My puppy was seen by this rude vet, the vet was so rude and careless. The vet was curt when she said how much is going to cost me to have surgery, I was just standing there in tears. She kept going on and on, I wanted to run. I left that place, but i was charge $400 for absolutely nothing. I went to a different animal hospital and my baby girl surgery went very well. I wasnt change as much as the other vet was charging. I dont recommend anyone to this animal hospital.
Update: March 31, 2018On March 27, 2018, our 15 y/o dog, Stinky, passed away due to kidney failure, surrounded by his family - at Yonkers Animal Hospital. Stinky was under the care of Dr. Howell for several years before his passing and I truly believe that he(Stinky) would not have lived to see 15 or have the wonderful quality of life that he had, if it wasnt for the help of Dr. Howell. Stinky had a lot of appointments whenever he experienced complications to his health issues - and during every appointment, he was very well taken care of - the commitment that Dr. Howell had to the health and well-being of our dog was obvious during every visit. Unfortunately, his kidney failure symptoms were not obvious until they became chronic. I cannot thank Dr. Howell and the staff at YAH enough for the years of great care and love that they provided to Stinky - and for that my fiance and I will forever be greatful. YAH is the only animal hospital that we will forever trust.
It was great. They were very patient with my dog Jace. The only thing was that, I have a lot of mental issues, and I was scared and nervous because I didnt want to stress out the vets and I was worried about Jace, and I was tired because I have MS and stressed out and my body was exhausted, and it was my first time there, and at the other Vet Ive been at, its usually a student vet-to-be first and then the Doctor. The point is that I was nervous and so many things were going on at once and I called the Vet Miss, and she snapped at me with DOCTOR, and I was like.. wow... I didnt mean it like that. I cant think, so many things are going on, I wasnt being sexist because in my personal life I fight against all bigotry, including sexism... I told her I meant no disrespect by calling her Miss instead of Doctor in the middle of holding back my 70lbs dog that was freaking out... but I didnt deserve to be snapped at like that. But they were great and patient, but that was my only negative experience. It was such a crazy situation because my dog is scared when he goes to the vet and everything was so wild with him whimpering and my mind is racing and I meant no disrespect, but I didnt deserve to be snapped at like I did some sexist stuff on purpose.
I love, love, love them! I have two older dogs; a 15 year old Shar-Pei, and a 14 year old Chow mix, who I wouldnt trust to anyone else. Dr. Givan and Dr. Howell are the reason my dogs have made it so long. Both animals are living well, both walking up and down stairs on their own and going strong. Thanks YAH!!! Also want to mention that their groomer takes great care of my Shar-Peis sensitive skin issues, like a champ. And the front end staff is always cheerful when I come in. When the doctors and their assistants have seen my pets theyve always treated them with utmost care and concern. I highly recommend this place, Dr. Howell has been my favorite.
Dr. Givan & the entire staff is kind, caring & professional in their interactions with both humans and pets. Delilah was given a through exam and all of my questions were addressed and discussed in detail. I highly recommend this practice with a caveat - I would have given five stars, but for the waiting time vs. appointment time - our appointment was for 11:15 AM and we were finally seen at 12:30 PM. Overbooking has become as serious a problem with our pets as it is for us humans!
NEGATIVE!!! VERY UNPROFESSIONAL BUSINESS! No pet parent should have to see their pet in such pain as the vet techs are holding the sick pet down while inserting a needle to start a central line.. that should be done in the BACK by the vet techs! This place has no heart or concern for the feeling of the pet parents. I requested TWICE that my pet be sedated so we can say our good-byes to our beloved pet and all the vet did was administer half of the euthanization medication!! I requested a SEDATIVE for which I was willing to pay extra. If you care about saying a peaceful goodbye to your pet, DO NOT choose this clinic! I regret my choice of vets and feel worse that my son, who raised this cat for 15 years, had to see him struggle during his last moments! SHAME ON YONKERS ANIMAL HOSPITAL!!!!!!
My dog, Amber, had 3 very large cysts on her back that looked suspicious. We met with Dr. Givan who was so loving and compassionate with us and our dog. He quickly pulled Dr. Mendelsohn (surgeon) into the conversation, who recommended the removal of all 3. Needless to say, I was a very nervous mom waiting to hear the results of the surgery. Dr. Howell was amazing by the way he got on the phone to reassure me that Amber was doing great and that he would check on her during the night. He truly alleviated all of my fears. I then got a follow up phone call from Dr. Mendelsohn to tell me all went well and that Amber was resting comfortably. We went the next morning to pick her up and she acted like nothing had happened. I couldnt believe it because she can be skittish at times. Dr. Mendelsohn and her Assistant, Alanna, did a phenomenal job!!! Its been 2 1/2 weeks and you can barely see where the cysts had been removed. My heartfelt thanks to the group at Yonkers Animal Hospital!!!
Great great place!!!! My dog (1yr old yorkie) got hit by a car on a Saturday night (day b4 Easter) spent the weeken in the er hosp. That hosp was supposed to send all paper work over to here (Yonkers animal hosp). They didnt. We got here with our dog they knew nothing of us or even that we were coming! My dog was in the back getting looked at by the sergon I dont remember her name Dr M (last name starts with M) in the back within 5 mins and had his surgery the same day!!!! Staff is very friendly and help full!!!!! Dr. Howel very patient man! Again I had no appointment they knew nothing of us. He answered any and all of our questions at any time we asked them.. Alanna and Nino very caring and helpful too.. (Alanna had bfast with my lil guy and called me b4 the place even opened to give me the best update!!!!) THANK YOU YONKERS ANIMAL HOSPITAL!!!!!!!
I had the most horrible experience. They did not do a great job on my yorkie. When I went to pick her up she had the worst hair cut I could image, it was uneven and extremely short. They did not follow my directions or pictures that I showed them. Some parts of her hair were long and some parts were extremely short. Not a place I would go again.
They are clearly in this for patient care #1 and not overcharging in order to pay for a Ritz like office. Ive searched the Internet for pet medications, and have found the prices comparable to those Yonkers Animal Hospital charges. So have no fear of overcharging, and enjoy patient care second to none at Yonkers Animal Hospital.
I very much appreciate the veterinarians here . Thank you so much for taking me and my rabbit in such short notice . Unfortunately I had to put my rabbit down but everyone here was absolutely friendly and made the process so comforting. Simon and I are very thankful .RIP Simon
Took my dog for grooming at 9:30 am and only because I call to find out if he was ready at 3:00pm they realized he was there, I picked him up right away and the excuse was that he was placed in a top shelf and the groomer was not aware he was there all day which tells me my dog didnt use the bathroom nor have any water for so many hours, what about if I hadnt make the phone call?...smh
I call to them told them what was wrong with my dog and they told me they can help me but it’ll be an emergency visit ok no problem . I took him in he seen the vet and for him to tell me he couldn’t do the Procedure that I needed a specialist and referred me and charge me almost $200 for everything that I explain over the phone
Check your medicine in this animal hospital they always give your pets expired medicine they did it to me twice and Ive only been there twice 6 months expired they seem to not care and it looks like they do not update the medicine cabinet and remember there fast to bill you for that old medicine the worst veterinarys office Ive been to walking in there its depressing smells doctors there seem to just care about the money not your pets.if you love your pet please dont bring them here take them to Amc in manhattan the drive from yonkers its worth it trust me.
All the staff and vets have always been so helpful and kind, that even when we moved to south Brooklyn I kept them as our vet of choice and would make the drive to keep our appts. However the wait has never been less than 30 min, even if arriving early for our appt. Today’s wait was longer than my commute! I’d love to continue bringing our dog here but after availability for a sick appt 6 weeks out and an hour long wait time sitting in my car before even being taken in, it’s going hard to justify.
I had a very bad experience with them. I paid for a travel certificate for my dog. I was there from 10:30 in the morning after they examined my dog Blue. I waited until 12:30 pm and they still did not give me the certificate because the person that I had to authorize it was in a meeting. I had to leave because I had to work, they tell me it will cook later, I tell them I can come in if it happens, like at 4:30 thats fine, so I did it, I arrived at about 4:45 because of the traffic I was late when I got the certificate it wasnt done I had to wait I was there until 5:20 after they gave me the certificate I was in a hurry because I had to go to a Fedex I took it without looking it turns out it was wrong the name is misspelled I had another address I had to delverne and tell him to do it again because it was wrong 👎 they did it after 20 minutes they give me the certificate I checked it there to see if everything was ok the name was ok but the address was wrong and he came back again and passed it to him when they fixed the name is wrong Thats when I went out at 7 at night and they were the ones who were upset with me, mainly a doctor, she is the oldest of the women, since it was my fault that they didnt do their job. I will not recommend this clinic to anyone again because everything is a lot of waiting

2022-04-21WOOFIE, (LUCY (R.I.P) and BLACKIE (R.I.P) have been going to YONKERS ANIMAL HOSPITAL their whole lives. WE have had excellent experiences in the way our beloved pets have been welcomed, and genuinely cared for. The atmosphere is positive and gentle even at times when the prognosis may not be as good as we had hoped. As well, our dogs are happy to see the Docs and THE AMAZING CARING STAFF EACH AND EVERY TIME going in for health exams and GROOMING. We have sadly had two of our dogs “put to sleep”. MUCH RESPECT, PRIVACY, DIGNITY and QUIET was provided and helpful easing the pain of saying goodbye. BLESS THEIR KIND HEARTS AND SOULS. DR HOWELL “A shining star” in the city of Yonkers as well as a FABULOUS VETERINARIAN STAFF, the ASSISTANTS and SUPPORTIVE STAFF!

2022-02-16Took my fur babies here and they were treated by the best. The guy in the front, I believe his name is Ramon, is wonderful. He and the rest of the staff were so caring towards my babies. I recommended my friends and family to this Animal Hospital because they really do care about my fur babies just as much as I do.

2022-06-29I have been going to this animal for 3 years. I must say that the doctors there are extremely thorough and kind hearted. They know exactly what they are doing. To the Vets I give them 5 stars. My only issue now is that they have a new girl in the front office who takes the calls for appointments and registers the pets for their appointments. She is extremely disrespectful, rude, and arrogant. If you are having personal issues, you should leave them at home. You work at an animal hospital, you should know that there is a heavy customer demand for Pet Parents wanting to care for the animals. You don’t like your line of work then leave.

2022-06-29Please don’t use the services of this place. After they diagnosed my pet and got money for that they refuse to treat and continue caring for my dog. They provide the treatment my dog needed. Don’t know why they refused my dog. My dog is very well cared for, eats well and is very clean. Cash, paid no questions asked. Willing to pay whatever for my dog to be treated. Even to get copies of the records took so much. So unprofessional. Please keep your pet safe. Our pets deserve better. Don’t go to this place! The worse.

2022-04-09I just wanted to let everyone know this is a great animal hospital. Great service and compassionate staff. I especially want to acknowledge Santos (Nino). He is a wonderful employee, helpful and understanding. If anyone needs an animal hospital check this place out. Been going for years and ask for Nino. He is great!

2021-11-19This hospital doesnt care about animals they refuse to treat my dog sent us to another hospital that was just as bad so we went to another place they received the results we called back 8days later & they told us they didnt have the results when they received it 8days ago so we called the hospital we went to & got the email results in 1min we was told the doctor would call us back but he never did. When we took my dog in we also ask to get his nails cut they charged us & didnt even cut his nails. We waited about 3hrs outside when other people would come & wait 10-20mins & get to see the doctor before us this place is not professional they dont care just want to make money off you.

2021-11-18This place is the worst. I should’ve taken my dog out of this vet years ago. Please do yourself a favor and find somewhere else. They will find ANY AND EVERY reason to charge you for labs and tests and medicine. Misdiagnosing a dog with seizures, practically killing him with meds he wasn’t supposed to get. Thousands down the drain for my dog to pass with no clear cut reason, no proper diagnosis, inaccurate medicine. After fishing out hundreds, you’d think they’d at least give me the decency to know what truly I could do for my dog. Wish I could give 0 stars. The vets have never been kind and kind of made us feel like we were bad owners for not coughing up all the $ they require. If you have a pet with any issues, go anywhere else but here.

2021-10-11These people are just money hungry thieves. They can care less about you or the well-being of your pet. They’ll know very well that your dog is sick and in pain but just keep recommending tests and medication to get money out of you. On top of that they don’t even have the decency to return your calls but if it’s about money they will! Pay attention to the negative reviews people leave here because they’re 100% TRUE. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone, and they’re extremely overpriced as well. Doctors and front desk need training on how to actually treat people who are going through things with their pets.

2021-07-20Dr. Howell and Givan have been treating our dogs for the three decades we have lived here. In the last year or two they saved the lives of both of the dogs we have now and they have been terrific with our cats also. We feel blessed to have such great medical care for our pets.
