This was a fantastic and magical experience. The store is beautifully organized with selection beyond my imagination. We got beautiful fabric on the 2nd floor, and welting cord on the 1st floor. The associates were also very helpful and open to budget-minded buyers. We ended up getting a decent deal on the last 10 yards of a roll that will look fantastic on our couch. The 1st floor also sells foam and other upholstery accessories that I will look more into on my next visit!
Huge selection in a large space

They have so many choices of fabrics and materials it will make your head spin. Great selection, especially the stain resistant fabric. Zarin runs three floors of the building, and their sales people are friendly, and quite knowledgeable. They supply you with swatches of the material, along with various options, and suggestions for getting your project together. Prices for some materials are a bit higher, but they also do have some discount fabrics. I have no idea why I havent gone there before.

Came here for last minute fabric on a chair that needed reupholstering and found an exquisite pattern as soon as I walked in. Jose was incredibly helpful, went out of his way to inquire about my questions to the owner, and was super knowledgeable about material. Im a business owner myself, and the people you have working for you make or break your business and Jose was incredible!! He even remembered my name when I came back the next day, wonderful customer service. Will be coming back!
I picked out some fabric for two dining chairs last summer. The staff was helpful in getting me to the right general area in their huge selection. They also cut the right amount of fabric so it was quick and easy. It’s best to go with an idea of what you want so the staff can best help you. Thank you!
Once was a competitive fabric shop, though the prices cant really go toe to toe with anything online. High prices couldnt keep them from downsizing (as they used to have the entire building on the corner.
Ive been working with Judy Eichenstein and Zarins Fabric for about 30 years, and just completed another project with Judy. This time she helped me--all over the internet and phone--pick fabrics for covers for daybeds and the many pillows of various sizes that were needed. Ive had chairs recovered, bed spreads made, drapes, etc.,and the room we just did, Ive redone four times, as the need for it changed. Judy is a master at reading your mind to see what you want in terms of fabric, design and color and presenting you with wonderful choices, and then helping you choose all the finishing touches. Zarins has a huge selection of all kinds of fabrics at good prices. The craftsmanship of the finished pieces they deliver are always excellent and they deliver within the time frame promised. I highly recommend Zarins and the wonderful Judy Eichenstein.
Their reputation is well deserved. They offer quality services and materials. Shout out to Natee for helping me receive the sunbrella I needed in a timely manner despite crazy covid supply chain shortages.
I worked with both Judy and David B in the shop and Christian, for the upholstering. All three were superb and wonderful to work with. Judy and David patiently helped me find the perfect fabrics from their enormous selection and had larger samples promptly shipped so I could live with them for several days before buying much larger quantities. Christian did the most marvelous job re-upholstering the furniture and, but for the ghastly traffic, would have delivered the pieces on time. Despite the miserable traffic, he was in good humor! It was my first time buying anything from Zarin fabrics and Im 100% blown away by the amazing quality and service that was provided during my shopping experience. Not only was the staff helpful and knowledgeable, but the product was excellent quality and beautiful. The fabric that I selected was actually on one of their new furniture displays in their new showroom. I thought it was pretty cool and interesting to see a twisted take on the LES art gallery scene with framed floating furniture on the wall. One of the staff also mentioned that the showroom was still a work in progress and to come back to check out the fun additions that they will be adding. Thank you David Z for the amazing pillows for my new apartment! I love them!!! PS. The artwork on the outside of the building is beyond AWESOME!!!
We recently had a sofa reupholstered and the workmanship was better than we could ever imaged! We had no idea of what fabric to choose from the endless amount of choices. Have no fear! Judy, their senior Design Consultant, patiently listened to us to make a recommendation. The updated sofa fits perfectly with our decor in our apartment. Great experience and will definitely be back soon!
I visited about two months ago, and had the best time wandering through the rows and rows of gorgeous fabrics there! Had conversations with three different staff members, all of whom were helpful and very nice. Headed home with the coolest fabric, beautifully embroidered with (wait for it...) chickens! The fabric was quite pricey, but they gave me a deal on an already-cut, slightly odd-shaped piece that works beautifully for the window-seat cover Im making.

I had an amazingly good experience at Zarin recently with Susie - who knows her inventory like the back of her hand. I needed to upholster 2 chairs and a couch but had no idea where to begin. After asking detailed questions about my apartment set up, she offered samples of several beautiful fabrics. Any of them would have been lovely. Once we made our choice, she arranged for the furniture to be upholstered. When there was a minor problem with the couch upholstery, she promptly had that corrected. I cant wait to go back for the pillows!
Excellent selection and service. We visited a few places in the garment district but they simply dont compare. Zarin has a much larger selection - and it is well lit, organised and clean - making searching for the perfect fabric a lot easier.They also have services so you can pick out your fabric(s) and get the work done as well.
Its a treasure trove.If you are a fabric lover you can spend hours in here.
I had a great experience at Zarin Fabrics. I first thought it would be difficult to get down to its Lower East Side showroom from the Upper East Side but it was simple and easy via the subway. The staff is knowledgeable and the selection is like nothing I have ever seen before.
I throughly enjoyed my visit. Great selection and, even though I had a limited budget, each of the staff was friendly and extremely helpful. This will definitely be my first stop whenever I need fabric.
Unbeatable selection of fabrics and trims and Judy has a great eye when it comes to, well, everything. Its expensive to have things made here -- I had them make 6 throw pillows, which came out beautifully -- but worth it.

Horrible. You shouldn’t yell at your potential customer on the phone. I am not familiar with buying fabrics and therefore not familiar with terms. When I was simply asking for a quote and didn’t sound to understand the terms, the person on the phone (in male sounding voice) YELLED at me, repeating what he just said. Very rude. My heart is still pounding from this horrible phone call. You might need to learn to deal with customers who have varying levels of knowledge on fabrics, IN A POLITE WAY.
Used to be the place to go, now its hit or miss. I love the shopping though nearby on Orchard Street. The boutiques that have sprouted up are very unique and very hip NYC. I love the lower east side. I just wish Zarin would go back to being unique and the place to go. Please. I used to love this store.
Disappointing. Very limited selection in store and incredibly rude staff. I was yelled at downstairs for asking what floor the upholstery fabric was located. Upstairs, I was shown extremely expensive selections only and the staff rolled their eyes when I asked if there were any other options.
Placed a large order for a client for a Kravet fabric for a client, and was told it was in stock. After waiting 2 weeks the fabric finally arrived and it was a cheap imitation of a Kravet fabric from a company in Fl. A complete waste of my time, and the sales person David B was very rude and dishonest. Anxious to see how long it takes to receive my refund back on my credit card
This sure went downhill into one hot mess. I guess after her Real Housewives stint she just gave up. Sure seems like it. Wow. Shocking. Why even bother keeping this open? The new entrance is a joke, it looks like a Javits Center Showbooth for pickups. Decorator Store? Wheres the showroom with decor? Isnt that your business Zarin? Lazy Lazy Lazy and dont care obviously. Not worth the trek downtown.
Tons of wonderful fabric choices at realistic prices. Go when it is not crowded if you need advice. Always something to find at H.Z.

The most terrible customer service! The staff were beyond rude, cut me off during my sentences, didnt even offer to help me with what I needed before rushing me out the door. Promised to call me with quote which unsurprisingly never happened. So shocked by treatment.

2022-05-14Matee is very knowledgeable, patient and has good taste. He provided me with a dozen samples to upholster an old chair. My color request was for something in the butterscotch family and I went with a pattern fabric... I look forward to seeing the completed chair by the upholsterer, Castilo, in Brooklyn.

2022-06-26I bought several yards of fabric for custom drapery for my Living Room and Two Bedrooms and had a great experience. I mentioned to my salesperson, Natee, that I was looking to have a custom Bar made that had been discontinued, He said they could do it and I didn’t think twice about hiring them. I gave him photos and dimensions of the piece and off we went. Big mistake. Yes they do upholstery and drapery work but they do NOT make custom furniture and I found out the hard way. I was quoted a 3-6 week lead time on Jan 28, 2022 and 5 months later, I still did not have my furniture. They were making an upholstered bar with a glass top encased in a metal profile. One of the issues was they did not have a vendor for the metal fabrication for the profile which is odd considering they gave me a quote. Instead they placed a Party City type Metallic Gold Tape (see photo) in place of the metal profile and scheduled delivery to my house!! After I complained and stepped in to help, they did find a vendor to do the metal profile. I went to view the bar in the store before delivery the metal profile looked horrible. It had unsightly joints and you could see the screws, the mirror top which was the wrong color was covered in some sort of proxy film and the drink rack in the back was bent. See photos. Somehow they thought I was going to be ok with this. Finally I spoke to David Z who did apologize said the staff “bit off more than they could chew”. Rather than being honest up front about what the workroom was capable of doing Natee avoided all communication and my requests to be included in the final phase until it was too late to fix. A lot of this was due to the unprofessionalism and lack of communication from their workroom manager, Sandy. I was offered a complete refund but the time and energy I spent can never be returned. After all of that time to be met with Sorry thats all we can do. Would you like a refund is insensitive and completely unprofessional. Luckily the day I got the refund I reached out to the original vendor of the bar and they started making it again. Saved.I know this might sound a little harsh but I am truthfully stating what happened and this is not even all of it.

2022-04-14WOW, did I just find a gem!!!I was introduced by a friend to Judy and the incredible team @ Zarin Fabrics while looking for a beautiful material to reupholster my living room couch and Judy knew exactly what I wanted!I worked with a vendor we both were familiar with to do the work and I am soooooo pleased with the fabric choice, the outcome and my entire experience at Zarin Fabrics, im grinning from ear to ear when ever I look at the couch!DONT GO ANYWHERE ELSE.

2022-04-24I can’t imagine a better, more satisfying, retail experience than the one I recently had at the Zarin Fabrics Store - a total pleasure in all regards. I had five pillows re-stuffed, with a zipper being added to each pillow, and the results were beyond beyond. They look and feel exactly as I hoped they would, and the expert guidance provided by Natee made it easy to decide how to achieve the best outcome, which, in fact, it did.In addition to the gratifying results, the ambience of their shop expresses all that is magical about New York, and you owe it to yourself to pay a visit, if just for the inspiration alone! I feel confident you’ll be afforded the same level of warm congeniality as I was by every Zarin staff member whose path I crossed. Most definitely a Five Star experience!

2019-10-08Amazing warehouse in the fabric district of Manhattan. I had excellent help from several people on the second floor while looking for upholstery fabric to redo my dining room chairs. Natè was especially helpful! They gave me sample cuttings from all of the fabrics that I was interested in. I can’t wait to get them home to pick the best one.

2021-08-15I visited Zarin a few times this year because I had a few home projects. They have a large selection of in stock fabrics on the bolt that are neatly organized by color, and they also have a large selection of fabric books to order from. I was so happy to find beautiful fabric for both of my projects that was in stock. They also carry upholstery supplies and do reupholstering as well.Overall shopping here was a pleasant experience. Jose was very helpful on the floor with any questions about the fabrics, and giving swatches. Natee was very helpful guiding me with fabric selection for a vanity seat. Initially the type of fabric that I wanted wasn’t very practical, and I ended up finding something else that I really love. He also helped me calculate the yardage I would need to make a slipcover for an ottoman.

2021-05-23Im a very loyal customer of Zarin Fabrics. I recently had my late husbands chair reupholstered by Zarin. The chair has great sentimental value. Wow! As always, they did a beautiful job. The fabric is gorgeous, and the workmanship that went into it is outstanding. Im so happy with the result. Zarin was also very sensitive to the time line. It only took a couple of weeks. I usually work with Judy. Shes the best!! She guides you through the selection of fabrics and color combinations. And, she is never pushy. Always courteous and respectful. Im very happy.
