Visited this place for office team lunch. Went for the $29 fixed lunch menu which comes with an appetizer, main course and dessert. Each of them has 3 choices of dishes and you need to choose 1 of each. For appetizers I went with the chicken potstickers which were delicious. The main course was mahi mahi which I liked too but felt the quantity was less. The dessert consisted of chocolate lava cake with strawberry ice cream which was again very good.
Great place, ambiance and bartender was awesome. I was initially there for La Biblioteca. Although I was a bit confused. I guess upstairs the place is called Zengo and downstairs is La Biblioteca. I stayed upstairs since they were able to offer us La Biblioteca menu, which has tequila tastings. If you love tequila this is the place to be. The upstairs part is big and great for large group get togethers. The bar area is small but there are lots of tables. Downstairs is darker and cozier. I will definitely return.
My partner and I visited this place an hour ago. I had Zengo saved as a bottomless place for at least 3-4 months now and was excited to finally get to try this place for my birthday weekend. I have visited many bottomless brunch places on the ues and thought this would at the very least be a good spot for some unlimited booze and food for 2 hours. I have visited Maya, which if youre looking for a bottomless food/drink place, you should definitely check them out! Anyways, I made a reservation for 2:00 and we did not get seated until 2:15 which was fine, it was very busy. They checked in with my name again and we got seated and proceeded to wait another 20 minutes, to hear from a waiter. After locking eyes with someone who I presume to be a manager, they said something to a waitress who was serving the table next to us and then she came over. They did not even acknowledge that no one had given us water or checked in as our waiter. Thats fine. We then got some food (not the exact things we ordered, but we were hungry and werent about to try to make a scene over the volume 10 going on) and decided to just enjoy the food. The food was fine, it is exactly what youre probably thinking. The drinks werent amazing, but they booze them up and keep them coming. Unfortunately, we had a 2:00 reservation and werent able to get everything we had hoped to try. We saw our waiter(s) twice and after waiting for our last order of food (aside from only our first), were told the kitchen was closed and here are some donuts. Cherry on top was the table next to us got some birthday donuts and we didnt. It is all fine, I guess I had hoped this place was on the caliber of other places doing this kind of thing and I was wrong. If you just want to get drunk in a big group and dont care about much else, go here. Otherwise, go to a smaller brunch place that will take care of smaller parties.
All the food was cold! I went in for the bottomless brunch with unlimited plates and for some reason all the food was cold. The drinks remained bottomless which is why they get 3 stars. We asked the waitress for warm food but she still brought out cold food. Really disappointed.
I think their brunch is THE best kept secret of NYC. $50 for unlimited fusion food and yummy drinks too. My go to for big parties because there is something for everyone! The inside is beautiful and bohemian style as well with great natural light from the windows. Cant express how much I love it.
Delicious food!! We went there for brunch on Saturday, it was bottomless plates and drinks for two hours for $50 per person! The plates are more family style/tapas and they had a wide variety of drinks. Our waiter was awesome and the atmosphere and style was very modern and beautiful. Would definitely go back!
Came here for Saturday brunch with a group of 9 and was very pleased. Our waitress was amazing with providing the bottomless food and drinks - we definitely felt that we ate and drank our moneys worth. Some of the food could use improving but most dishes were delicious and the drinks were great. Would definitely recommend and looking forward to being back here in the future!
This was my second visit to this restaurant and sadly wasnt as memorable as the first time. The service is great here but the food can be a little underwhelming depending on the dish ordered. My entree was ok, although nothing I was over the moon about, however the other 3 in my party werent very impressed by were able to get through the meal. The food portions were questionable for some dishes based on the price and other dishes were a bit too much in the sweet side. Definitely wish I had ordered the same thing I did the first visit. Additional simpler menu items would go a long way here
I enjoyed my meal here. I met up with a very close friend that I had not seen in almost a year. I had a feeling we were going to be pressured to leave quickly after our meal, and was pleasantly surprised that the waitress was more than happy to allow us to take our time. The food was really good (outside of the appetizers) and the service was also quite good. We all really enjoyed our main entrees and also our desserts. However, we ordered a sushi roll for an appetizer that was barely edible. We also ordered a shrimp oriented appetizer that was soaked in what I believe they have been soy sauce. It basically was a salt bomb. However, no harm no foul, as the rest of the meal was very enjoyable and as I mentioned, the service was very good.. I would not hesitate to go back to this restaurant.
This is officially my new favorite brunch spot!!The staff and waiter were extremely nice and attentive. Hostess set me at table before the whole party arrived just so I can get the full 2 hrs of the bottomless goods. The ambiance and the food were amazing! The choices are abundant, deff recommending this spot to everyone.
The prices were fair for the food they offered. The food was good - nothing to rave about but as expected. I ordered a bento box with pan seared salmon. The salmon was a little dry. The decor was attractive and I went during a slow time so service was quick. Perfect spot for a lunch meeting.
I did brunch here one Saturday, it was okay. The decor was really awesome. There might have been a lot of people there but because it is a really large restaurant it felt pretty empty, so the atmosphere was kind of strange. Many of the dishes sounded really good but fell flat. A bunch of the hot dishes came out cold. I was really excited to try this place but wouldnt seak it out again.
Went for brunch menu yesterday. Waiter was great, very knowledgeable, place had nice decor and food was good. This would have gotten a higher star rating (4/5)if not for the horrendous and inhumane policy by management regarding taking home the rest of our food. After ordering the brunch tapas menu the three of us had a substantial amount of food left, entire plates of food was untouched. We asked for a take home container only to be told they do not allow you take home any items from the 2 hour brunch menu and it would all be THROWN AWAY. This is absolutely the most inhumane policy I have ever encountered at a restaurant. For the owners to feel that it is okay to waste food that was already paid for simply to deter folks from ordering multiple rounds. We had only ordered one round and did not ask for anything extra. I feel management is obviously oblivious to the concept of conservation and ethical conduct. As there are hundreds of homeless people living right outside their door, I think they can make better use of their resources. I would hope they put this ridiculous policy in writing on the menu or have the waiter/ hostess clearly state this policy before you order.
Went there for their brunch on a Sunday. The brunch is 2 hrs unlimited food and drinks. My friends and I went to town, the food was good, the choices after a plenty, the drinks not so much. We enjoyed ourselves, fill our bellies and drank our fill of the mimosas since that was the only one that tasted like it had alcohol. I would go here again.
Saturday is the best day to go and they probably have the best brunch menu available around the area. Servers were on point, very fast and friendly. However the one thing I did not like was that sometimes during cold days they wont open and instead of telling you when you call to make reservations, they wont say a word. Last time it happened to me and my friends. We ended up going to another restaurant that was pricey and the food was not good. Overall it is a good place to do brunch.
The food was okay, nothing over the top for the prices they charge but definitely worth trying.Just a tip, you might as well eat from their regular menu which will amount to the same price for restaurant week if you are interested. The tuna tacos are definitely recommended. The empanadas, not so much. They were pretty dry. The sushi is also nothing special so definitely not worth ordering.
Service isnt consistent and neither is the food. Sometimes its good and sometimes its bad. The prices dont match the food quality or quantity (not in a good way).Went with friends for restaurant week and one person paid $20 for 3 really small dumplings and they didnt even order any drinks.Youll get robbed on the appetizers, stick to the entrees.

Fantastic ambience: loved the decor.Located in the heart of midtown Manhattan.Choice of tasty veg & non-veg starters. The collection of non-American beers was really wide, and we got to try out some interesting new Japanese beers. The collection of liqueurs available was also excellent, with a couple of Asian liqueurs that we had never heard of.We couldnt stay for a full dinner, but theres always next time. All in all, a wonderful experience. Will definitely visit again.
I had my 30th bday brunch there.Pros- Very accommodating. You can book a table for 20 on open table. It is easily accessible. It is right by grand central and subway lines. There is a parking lot 2 blocks away for $13. Decor is beautiful and very modern. My party was placed upstairs which was nice and intimate.Cons- My waitress had an attitude. It was clear she did not want to be there. The drinks are pre made and watered down. The flavored mimosas were separating in the glass. We had to keep asking the waitress to fill our glasses. The sake sangria tasted like colored water. They hardly had anything on their bottomless menu. I was really looking forward to the dumplings but they said they dont serve that anymore. The food was tasteless. Only thing i enjoyed were the noodles. Everything else came out freezing cold and sweaty. The concept is great but I could have did without.
Decor is great. Wait staff were courteous. Food was decent. Thought the coconut shrimp were over cooked, making the shrimp taste pretty bad, like rubber. Tuna was fantastic. The medium rare skirt steak was more medium well so thats a huge negative not knowing how to prepare a steak. The worst was the 20 minutes wait from end of entree to getting the dessert.
A little over rated. I was really looking forward to coming here but was a little disappointed. The appetizers were good, small sampler plates. My entire party was a little disappointed with their entrees though. The space is great and the lounge downstairs is a nice plus.
Food was ok, service was terrible. Rude host and hostess, they lost our reservation and claimed it was our fault. All you can eat/drink brunch was supposed to last until 4pm. At 3:55, the waitress refused to refresh our drinks despite several other tables still being served. A girl was over-served and vomiting on the stairs and in the bathroom. Had to ask them to clear the dirty plates and bring fresh plates for dessert. Not worth the money or time.
Went for brunch. Multiple dishes were brought out completely cold, after a long wait. We werent told we didnt have to get the unlimited drinks, but there it was on our bill at the end. Shrimp ceviche was a sweet fruit salad with a couple of pieces of shrimp thrown in-not ceviche! Not worth the price. Mediocre food for expensive price.
Love the decor and ambience. Ive twice so far and have enjoyed each visit immensely. Talented bar staff. Lower lounge for those who really need to be seen.Sushi is pretty delicious. I usually stick with the starter menu because there is lots to share. :)Nice music and sometimes the beautiful people are there too.
I went here for mothers day brunch and was not pleased they advertised a gift and nothing was given to us. They ran out of chocolate waffles at 130pm? Theyre meatballs were full of salt and the churros undercooked. The drinks all tasted the same very diluted. Definitely not a pleasant experience, will not be returning. Save your money and go somewhere else. They also cant make you anything besides brunch menu. You would think because its mothers day they’d have a child friendly option, zero nada no french fries nothing. Only good thing i can say is the decor of this place is beautiful and our server was pretty pleasant.
Worst brunch place Ive ever been to. Waited 25 minutes into our 2 hour time limit for our first drink. 40 minutes for our first course of our 2 hour unlimited food time limit. Our servers poured multiple used drinks into the pitcher they served back to us and denied it when we confronted them about it.
Zengo is my number one go to brunch spot whenever visiting NYC. So much so that it is now the anniversary / birthday destination for my girlfriend and me every year. Unlimited brunch foods and cocktails are just the tip of the iceberg at Zengo when you add in the beautiful interior, the energetic atmosphere, the friendly and attentive staff - and most importantly - the incredible selection of food they have on their menu. Im embarrassed its taken so long to write a review for Zengo having visited every time Im in NYC the past several years. P.S. our servers were Andrew and Andres and he was great!
Cool arcade in Echo Park that serves up solid food with good selection of beer, a lot of space and enough games to keep ya mashing for hours. Always good vibes when Im in here and 4 player X-Men with the double screen doesnt hurt either... They even have Tapper in excellent condition too.
A wonderful combination of Latin Asian flavors creating and wonderful Fusion in the heart of midtown east. Their lunch Prix fixe menus are the best bargain you can get for lunch in Midtown and their tofu and angry Zengo roll are my favorite. The environment is very upbeat at times a little too noisy and the drinks are very very original.
Came here for brunch and the food was good but there were some slight disappointments. Our party of 4 was originally seated in a booth that was too small, you could tell the benches werent positioned correctly because the booths to either side had a lot of room. They gave us a bit of a hassle about asking to move but eventually let us. They were not busy. They gave us 4 menus, and never took 3 of them away, (nor did they take them away from tables around us) which i thought was odd. The pork meatballs were under cooked and cold inside. The drinks were watery after the first one. Most of the food was really good, but I can see why the current rating is low 4 star, could definitely use some small improvements
Overall it was a subpar experience I was quite disappointed with the service the level of cooking and the laziness and lack of attention of our server. the chicken I ordered was dry and overcooked my friend ordered a medium rare steak and it looked exactly the same as the well-done which my other friend ordered. the server neglected to give me a glass of water as well as a plate and it took me asking several times for this to be rectified. finally splitting the bill amongst a party of over ten turned out to be an over-complicated affair taking over 35 minutes because the server was too lazy to split our bill. In the end they ended up splitting it anyway even though they said they couldnt split it.I would not recommend this place, although the decor and the furnishings are quite nice and it is very spacious and there. Overpriced service and mediocre food at best.
Zengo was very nice! Went for the first time this past weekend (Friday night) with my wife, daughter, and her husband. We had several small plates, about eight I think, and they were all very good. We then had two mains (Black Cod, Salmon) which were both excellent as well. Service was great - not overbearing, but there when needed. And wine prices were reasonable for a NYC eatery. Would definitely go back .
Was there for lunch today with a friend. We ordered the Bento Box. My friend got the chicken and I asked for the seared salmon. Both dishes were over cooked and burnt around the edges. We sent the salmon back but the second time around was no better. I asked if they had changed the chef. The vegetables served were basically broccoli stems which looked stale. The papaya salad was soggy and old, perhaps left over from the previous day. The restaurant was basically empty so no excuse for us to be served burnt and stale food! For $22.00 the Bento Box was not worth it! The manager gave us a small discount but just hope we dont get sick from eating some burnt and stale food!
Pricey but you get the best brunch deal in NYC. Strong drinks, great food, calm atmosphere to actually hear your conversation. Be sure to try all the mimosa flavors during your two hour window! Tip: if you ate seated in the back of the restaurant, try to order in large batches as they tend to serves those closest to the bar first then move outward.
Unlimited brunch means they bring out the brunch menu for your table which is cold and bland by the time you get it. Followed by unlimited brunch drinks which taste like theyve been made with bottom shelf liquor. They slow down the service so you dont actually get what you want you ask the waiter they just bring out whatever is ready.
Came for the all-you-can-eat/drink brunch. Food was a fusion of Latin and Asian, and every dish seemed to miss the mark, having a combination of flavors that didn’t quite work. I think they tried to get too creative, and ended up with a bunch of ideas too complicated to taste good in practice.
This place is incredible and so are their prices. Drinks are delish and the bartenders are super nice and cool. For my third drink, I couldnt make up my mind so I asked him to surprise me.... that he did. My drink was amazing. I think it had some strawberry juice, triple sec, and one other flavor mixed with tequila. It was pretty darn amazing. The steak mini tacos were good to. You get 3 mini ones for $5, and they also have a shrimp flatbread that was just as good for the same price. This is perfect for after work gatherings. They have couches that can fit large groups and the vibe is really chill.
A group of us (13) went out for our friends 21st birthday and it was a total mess!! The waiter continuously dropped drinks or knocked them over and was very rude when taking orders. It was so bad! Terrible to the point that she dropped a margarita on me leaving me drenched and proceeded to carry on without so much as an apology until the manager was kind enough to apologize, offer to dry clean my clothes and offer me and the birthday girl free meals. She also got me a new chair and cloth and helped me wipe down my clothes. Incident 2. Another member of our group was given a glass with clear lipstick stains on it. LIPSTICK STAIN! I honestly wouldnt advise anyone going here but that manager was graceful and extremely helpful. The manager is the only reason I gave this experience a one, otherwise I would have demanded this place to shut down. She got us a new waiter and aided my friend in getting a new drink as she apologized. Overall this was a bad experience but I hope if you do attend Zengo its not your experience!
Happy hour drinks and food is the best thing here. The dinner is fine, but nothing to write home about. I think the best is to come after work, grab a few drinks and appetizers then head off to dinner. Happy hour is well priced but main dinner is expensive and I think there are better places. The space is really cool though and there is another bar in the basement that gets busy and has lots of tequilla and is a lot of fun!
Spacious space thats good for a large group. Food taste ranged where dumplings were delicious, guac with crab meat was amazing then some meat dishes including chicken was way WAY over cooked.I had a cocktail that didnt live upto its name. Smoky Ginger didnt have any smoky flavor nor any ginger in it. Drink was too sweet to have any flavors. Stick to beer or pure sake if you are there.
If I could give this place no stars I would! It was more like a bar/club than a restaurant. We looked at the menu online before coming here to the find that it was completely different! When we ordered our drinks and told the waitress that we will no longer be eating dinner her demeanor changed to hostility and we were served our drinks along with the bill! So appalled by their behaviour but glad we decided to spend our money elsewhere.
Extremely poor service for a place that should be speedy getting everything out. God 4 rounds of drinks in, over 2 hours. We kept ordering the food in which weren’t receiving the items we ordered. Food came out cold but taste was pretty good slightly above the medium standard. Host was also very rude among arrival and when we asked for a different table because the group next to us was completely on top of us we received a cold shoulder and got ignored. Then proceeded to wait 30 minutes before we were greeted.I’m sure they usually preform better but with a rainy day and a much slower resturant you expected it to be fast paced good eats. Absolutely failed that, and wound up eating pizza an hour later because I was still hungry.
This place is pretty nice. Something that I wouldnt do too often but when I go I know I will enjoy it. The food is great and the cocktails are made well. There is a bar downstairs that looks like a tequila library. Its very dark and homey and a great place to hang out with friends who are too classy to go to a sports bar for happy hour.
Summary: Go on Saturdays and let Cindy (hostess), Natalie and Johan take care of you. That team is awesome! Dont go on Sundays and avoid Fabio.Three of us came for brunch for the first time. My sister and I came early and Cindy Contreras (the host) greeted us. She was very friendly and helpful. She even took some of our drinks orders during brunch and chatted with us. Natalie Martinez was our main waitress for the evening. She was great. She treated us like we were her friends and even gave us tips on places to visit in the area. Johan and Santiago helped our waitress during brunch. Service was great overall. Food and drink selection were awesome! Some of the food plates were not too hot but it was extremely easy to overlook that because of the excellent service and inviting ambience. I will definitely come back. You should definitely give Zengo a try!Update from September 16, 2018:Apparently, the great service Ive described above is only available on Saturdays and with the team I mentioned. I went back Sunday of the following week and I got Fabio... Terrible waiter. He was nowhere to be found. My best friend who was visiting from Puerto Rico was furious with him. We had to tell the manager. The only saving grace was that Johan was available that day and, even though hes not a waiter, he took care of us. Johan is awesome! He should be a waiter there.
One of my favorite places to eat and drink in Murray Hill. A great fusion of Japanese and Mexican, the dishes are very eclectic and consistently good, even if they are a tad on the pricier end. It is a big place so you never feel cramped and the wait is never long if you walk in. Its never too loud so its easy to hold conversations here. Perfect spot for business lunches or happy hours. Oh and great tamarind and Zengo margaritas.
This place is gorgeous. Regardless if you are upstairs or on the main level, this place is a feast for the eyes. They offer a great happy hour on the upper level during the week! This is an awesome meet-up place if you are coming (or going) from Grand Central. The food is adventurous and tasty (think Asian Dim Sum meets Latin Fusion) and the drinks are no joke. They have an expansive wine list that is priced quite fairly. However, they do a mean margarita. Jalapeno spiced with a chili salt rim, if you can handle the heat, is outstanding! Something about the cleanness of the lime and high quality tequila combined with the spicyness of the pepper make this a terrific drink. Be sure to try the Arepas and tacos. The types vary but they are always consistently delicious!
I had a BLAST in the past at this restaurant & I would be returning back for more. I highly recommend Zengos to everyone that love to eat. The only thing is its Buffet Style so no taking any food as a doggie bag. My favorite dessert was the bread pudding.... So DELICIOUS 😋😋😋
Came here last year with my supervisor & coworker for my birthday/annual review lunch lol... love this place! The décor is amazing and I would love to have some type of gathering here at some point in the future. It must be amazing in the winter with Christmas lights. Our waitress and the hostess were pleasant. Generally a great ambience. Anyway on to the food...I ordered the Thai Chicken Empanadas to start.... AMAZING! They tasted better than I imagined they would after all the reviews. They look small but they are densely packed and the mango salsa on top perfectly complements the spiciness and then the creaminess of the bottom sauce brings the whole mouthful of awesomeness togetherMy main entrée was the El Cubano Sandwich... again AMAZING. Nice chunks of pork shoulder, savory ham, nice bite from the horseradish and the swiss cheese was melted just right and the jalapeno aioli was a touch of fantasticness. The bread was only the slightest bit soggy from the moistness of the meats but it was much appreciated. The crust had a nice crunch.I checked in on Foursquare and got the free margarita (but will use it when I come back)... also checked in on Yelp for the free churros which I did get. I havent tasted those yet but its churros with a chocolate sauce... how bad can it be?Also I love how they serve the water in these fabulous bottles/jars. And the water tastes amazing. Im sure its just tap but its great tasting tap. I drank about 6 glasses which made me hate myself when I was running back and forth to the ladies room later.
One of the worst brunch places. I belong to a family who has been in the food business since the 90s. AVOID THIS PLACE! Food was horrible, the chicken had a smell to it (I KNOW WHEN MEAT HAS BEEN SITTING), sushi was awful, Korean fried chicken was cold! Ended up throwing everything up before I even got home.
This was a terrible brunch experience. I came here with my family for my cousin’s birthday and I’ve never been more disappointed in service. The food is good but the ambience was terrible and the servers were rude and forgot our orders despite it being bottomless. Honestly I wouldn’t recommend anyone come here. Save your money and go somewhere else.
Fantastic food in a stunning space. We tried Zengo a few months ago and left unimpressed. We went back on 12/8 (primarily to check out the tequila library) and were blown away by the service and the food. The Thai Chicken Empanadas were outstanding and the Shanghai Strip Steak is one of the most delicious things I’ve ever tasted. My wife ordered the Vegetarian Fried Rice and then suggested we dine family style and share our choices. Wait, you want me to share my strip stake with you in exchange for vegetarian fried rice?? I scoffed, but I was wrong to do so. Like everything else we ordered, it was delicious. We’ve dined all over NYC and had some amazing (and very pricey) meals. Zengo rates solidly in my top 5 NYC dining experiences. Zengo is the perfect spot to have an amazing meal without breaking the bank. I have never dined anywhere that offers more value for your money.I’m not sure what changed over the past six months, but the fact that Zengo has stepped up their game is clear. A truly remarkable experience!Lastly, do your self a favor and ask if Alberto is serving when you go. If he is, ask to be seated in his section. He is a gem and will take excellent care of you!We can’t wait to go back. Zengo is now at the top of our list of places to take our out of town guests.
I went to biblioteca which is the downstairs of Zengo and had the best time. The bartender James was super knowledgeable and learned me a lot about tequila and mezcal that im not an expert of. Well now i can say i am. Just like a librairy doesto you the biblioteca lounge was a learning point for my taste buds.I loved the riazul that had a beautiful taste of the smell of vanilla and flowers. I tried a 2 months old to a year tequila that was aged in a whiskey baril. It came in from a pretty interesting looking bottle. The mescal old fashion was super interesting too. I dont remember ever having that until the bartender James mentionned it. I was like: what?! I had rye and bourbon old fashion but never mezcal old fashion 😀. Yaaasss! I said. It was great and not too sweet or too biter. For food, my vegetarian friend had some herbal bread, guacamole with chips and i had empignadas, fried rice for diner. You need some food for them drinks. They werent weak if you know what i mean 😉.We enjoyed the ambiance. Its cozy and chilled. The upstairs Zengo was very majestic and had beautiful iron and wood work.Bathrooms were clean and It is a great venue for cocktails parties and drinks. Very loungy.
Go to MAYA for fine bottomless brunch experience. PATHETIC HOSPITALITY here at zengo. The manager should learn some basic etiquette to how to deal with the customers. Super rude staff from receptionist to the manager everyone though the one who waitered us was very nice. And should carry your passport with you just because the divas this restaurant owners are they don’t accept any international id’s. Just because you have fancy interiors doesn’t make you fancy. Everyone’s coming over for having a good time and i must say, would never recommend this to anyone i know.WORST EXPERIENCE !!!!!!!!
Felt like I was eating boiled food at a hospital. They need to adress that as a crisis for their business. I mean how can one eat something that not even lacked seasoning but also basic condiments like salt and pepper. I spent over $30 for lunch that had no flavor whatsoever. Cmmon!!
I love me some boozy brunches. (FYI, NYC brunches start around 12-1pm!)Ive frequented the Zengo back home in DC once before, but the drinks werent nearly as strong as the one in NYC. We went with the unlimited 2 hour brunch (the time starts as soon as the first person sits down) for $42/pp. You can switch out any of their cocktail options at any time, but you can only have one (1) drink for yourself at one time.Everything is family style, so if there are 4 people in your party, there will be 4 pieces coming out. Memorable dishes: Lobster chipotle grits, crispy tofu, Asian pear salad, Peking duck and scrambled egg buns, bacon fried rice, and shrimp ceviche.Theres a friendly reminder when youre reaching your 2 hour time limit, which is much appreciated. I had a great experience here and its worth trying out at least once since NYC has tons of boozy brunches to choose from.
This restaurant has it all, and somehow misses everything. each dish ive had at zengo has been truly great, the service is always top notch, and the decor is elegant, modern. yet, i never find myself interested in visiting, even though its only 2 blocks from my apartment. the bars upstairs and downstairs are always packed, so they got something correct. but, something is definitely missing.
I am totally disappointed with the level of service offered today! This is my third time here and I am making this comment while seated...The gentleman who greeted me was all about chatting off his mouth as opposite to listening to what I had to say. The food took extremely long come (50 mins to be exact) and was just COLD with the exception of the plantains. The waitress was horrible and there is no going around that..when I shall have left I will definitely not be recommending this place to anyone let alone return. There was a clear understaffing issue today and that affected the birthday celebration of my BFF.Words are inadequate to express my disappointment and distress about today. More people ought to be at work today to meet the demands of the dayManagement needs to address this....my granting of one star is my being generous.
We got to the restaurant at 4:50pm and The waitress made us wait to be seated until exactly 5. Normally I would be ok with this BUT there was No one at the restaurant.. it was hot outside so we sat on the steps!! Then the bartender was beyond rude. I asked for a taco with no cream sauce. He said the chefs dont make changes to the menu. I said ok but I cant eat cream or cheese so please make the changes. The taco came out with a cream sauce on it. I said excuse me I cant eat this. He said thats not cream its Mayo!!!!! HELLO!!!!! What did you think I meant by cream sauce? Mayo is creamy!!!! He was so nasty and I was so furious that my husband and I just left! I will NEVER go back there AGAIN! Service was terrible, food was terrible, and the attitudes we received were in acceptable.
The D.C. location is much more attentive to diners. We made reservations weeks in advance, yet were sat in the back of the restaurant to be ignored for 2 hours. $42, and despite mentioning dietary restrictions, I only ever got 3 plates I could actually eat, and only 2 mimosas. I ordered a third mimosa, and was told that time was up despite not eating or drinking for two hours.
This Mexican-Asian fusion place takes up a good portion of 41st Street. Upstairs, youll have the classic dining experience. However, head downstairs to The Library — a tequila bar where you can even keep your own bottle of tequila for you to check out whenever you head down to the dark basement with its Oriental rugs and leather couches. On Tuesdays the very sweet librarian leads tequila tastings; you can score tickets for $15 (which includes four to five tastings and appetizers). During your lunch break, stop by The Library for some of the cheapest tacos and cerveza in Midtown.
Pad Thai was beyond subpar. Ive had $7 pad thai that was better. Bad noodles and bland.I was here for restaurant week; the hand roll was okay, but I was not expecting shrimp tempura while the menu mentioned just shrimp hand roll.Dessert was underwhelming, and very badly presented for a restaurant pretending to be upscale.
A great fusion restaurant, blending Latin and Asian food. For starts, the thai chicken empanadas are delicious. As an entree, Id recommend the braised beef shortribs as they were flavorful and tender. This restaurant is also a great place for after-work drinks downstairs in the Tequila Library
Slowly I am really becoming a fan of Richard Sandoval. Zengo was my first experience at a Richard Sandoval restaurant and now I can’t wait to try more, especially his whole roast Peruvian pig feast at Raymi! Zengo offers small plates to share. They also have entrees, but I didn’t even get that far. We were stuffed with what we ordered and rounded it out with sushi and dessert. The menu changes every few months incorporating a latin cuisine with Asian food. The fusion works and there is always something yummy. The drinks hit the spot and afterwards you can lounge in the bar downstairs. It’s pretty swanky.
I called on Monday December 30 th and made a reservation for my birthday in January 4th three days later they called me to confirmed I confirmed the day of my birthday I was running late I called them to Pitt it 30 minutes late if possible they agreed and then when my family get there they gave them my name they say they don’t have my name in there when I got there I went inside they like ohh they don’t do 1:30 and they never had my reservations horrible place to go to
Horrible service, we were there with a party of 20 people and sat for 3 hours (last hour was when most of the food came). They did not bring all the plates on the menu and we asked like 5 times what we wanted. Food was okay, but service horrible .. probably would not go back

2019-02-16Amazing food, delicious drinks and attentive service. You cannot ask for more for a brunch on a weekend. Free flowing food and drinks and they make sure neither your plate nor your glass is empty at any time!!Lychee mimosa and salmon Benedict were my favorite, but we loved all the food

2019-04-17There isnt much about this place that hasnt been said. The food is very delicious. The mix of Mexican and Asian cuisines worked very well. The drinks kept flowing and service was fast and pleasant. This was my second time there, and our server David gave us another reason to keep going back. Everyone from our table left the restaurant very pleased.

2018-07-22It is very big and has a nice decor. There is a more private downstairs area that has more of a nighttime vibe to it with dark lighting and lounge vibe. We ordered a few different things to eat and had a few cocktails. I enjoyed everything. Not the cheapest place but nice overall.

2021-01-10I had to order the chefs choice when I came here. It had everything I could ever want in a sushi platter. The drinks were amazing as well. Me and my friends loved it.

2018-04-15Great eating experience with a very loud atmosphere. The food was delicious although the plates were small that makes you want to try a bit of everything. Overall I had a great experience and will definitely be coming back.

2020-01-20I think the concept of the their unlimited brunch menu and drinks was cool for $49 however, can at least make sure that the food is warm when it gets to the table. Everything was cold - even the restaurant was freezing. I’m assuming their heater was broken. I like the ambiance though.

2019-07-15I should start by saying that this place has one of the best brunches New York has to offer. For just $49, you get two hours of unlimited food and cocktails.Coktails include Mango Mimosa, Original Mimosa, Lychee Mimosa, Sangria, Blood Red Sangria etc. The server took great care of us and made sure we had the time of our lives. The vibes are great and the place is beautiful. Zengo, you rock!!

2018-05-28What a fun place. Food was great too. Good small plates/sharing options. Not busy on a Saturday night was a bonus. Its off the beaten path and that was fine for us. Tequila bar downstairs was a great added bonus. We liked the potstickers, crab guacamole, and sushi. Mushroom flat bread was a bit off. Fun place for going out with friends.

2018-02-04So my friends and I reserved a table of 8 for 8:30 pm under Restaurant week. We got to there early and was going get a drink or go to the lounge. They were able to seat us for our reservation early. This was about 7:20. We were excited to eat, and they were very prompt at the beginning of our service. Little did we realized everything kind of went down hill after that. So the rest of our party got here about 8:05, meanwhile we ordered some drinks and appetizers. Drinks were great, as well as the spicy crab guacamole. We then decide to order our food. We all opt for the 3-course prefix meal for restaurant week. We slowly got our first sign of food about 8:56. It was busy so we didnt think it was horrible wait when we ordered around 8:22.Next part of our meal came out at 9:23... not horrible but then only 6 out of 8 was served their meal. We waited and waited then spoke up about it. Somehow we did not get our last two plates for our two friends at the table. No one came to check, and our server was missing or busy with other tables. So we waited for a manager to approach us, he did come by but did not speak to any of us. I wondered why... Our server did apologize but did not tell us what happened. She did mentioned that the chef said all plates were out and completed. Our two friends waited almost 9:54 to get their plates. We also just asked them for our desserts and they rushed it out with their plates as well. Till the end of our meal we were still waiting to speak to someone, but no luck. I guess because we were a large group and during restaurant week we did not matter to the manager. We left the restaurant with no explanation or accommodations on their end.So sadly we could not enjoy our food. I say the short ribs was really good along with the spider roll and kimchi soup. The mahi mahi was very bland. The dessert wasnt too crazy, I think the apple pie was hard, and very uneven filling. The ice cream overpowered both desserts.Check the pictures as always and my IG Jliueats/ LcrazyaznL

2019-05-31Loveeeed the ambiance and decor of this place! Came here for a team lunch and was not disappointed. The fusion on the menu was unusual but welcomed as a fellow Puerto Rican. Though, I did play it safe with the Carne Asada sanguich and White Sangria. Also pictured is some sort of veg noodle, which looked more flavorful than it tasted. It was missing every spice, including salt. Go all in and get the prix-fixe for lunch, looked delicious as well!
